ang maka-turn-off man god ana nila kay ang ilang pagtoo nga sila ray sakto. mahimo ba diay na. besides, salvation is a very personal thing. so is my relationship with god, in whatever form i may worship him.

sa tinuod lang, mas bilib ko sa akong naamigo sa una nga american couple nga jehovah's witnesses missionaries. gi-prangkahan dayon nako sila at the beginning nga catholic ko and i'm never going to change my religion. they took it well. after that, we met regularly to discuss the bible, and we were the better for it.

i learned more about the bible and was able to compare their interpretation with the catholic interpretation. they appreciated my questions because these made them do additional research. we became friends because they took me as their equal, not as an ignoramus whose soul needed salvation.

That is an excellent point, Isles. I would just like to add that all christian denominations (even including the mormons, albeit the fact that they have also created another book in addition to the bible -- the book of mormon) hold Holy Scripture (The Holy Bible) as the basis of answer and tradition. However, one has to concede to the fact that it was the Holy, One, Apostolic Roman Catholic Church that wrote, compiled, and organized the Holy Bible. Even before there was a "BIBLE" , there already was a Christian Church, which was the Roman Catholic Church.

While the protestants may read a very beautiful poetic version of the Bible (King James Version), their version is missing 7 books, which the protestant Martin Luther omitted from the protestant bible; they have renamed these 7 books as apocrypha books. Interestingly enough, the 7 books that Luther omitted had verses that supported Roman Catholic Sacraments, Tradition and Teachings, especially one on the state of Purgatory (which is mentioned in the Book of Maccabees).

The fundamental difference between Roman Catholic Tradition and Teaching from Protestant denominations (over 20,000 denominational churches are present) is that the protestants abide by the theological viewpoint of "SOLA SCRIPTURA", which means "ON SCRIPTURE ALONE", which places a literal interpretation of Holy Scripture. The Holy, One, Roman Catholic Church teaches that REVEALED TRUTH is given to the Holy Mother Church through 1) Sacred Scripture and 2) Sacred Tradition.

Addendum:

The problem in holding SOLA SCRIPTURA theological viewpoint is that the translation of The Holy Bible may differ depending on which bible one is reading. Because the Holy Bible was written in the original Hebrew, Greek, and then later translated into Latin (the language of the Romans), which was then later translated into English, a literal interpretation of King James Version of the Holy Bible might differ to the original meaning in say the Hebrew, Greek and Latin. Again, that is a flaw on SOLA SCRIPTURA.
