Usa Kagabiing Walay Banig
By Mike Ligalig
The Bohol Standard

Matod pa sa balita sa BBC, gikutlo ang gipamulong ni Prince William: “I could not even begin to imagine what it must be like to sleep rough night after night. The experience had deepened my understanding of homelessness.”

Presidente man to sa Pilipinas ang iyang amahan.

Locked up 35 years for child rape and kidnapping, James Bain was finally set free Thursday by a Florida judge after a DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid) test proved he was innocent of the crimes.

"Mr. Bain, I'm now signing the order... you're a free man. Congratulations," the judge told the 54-year-old as his family and friends in the courtroom broke out in applause.

Outside the courtroom, Bain told reporters he held no grudge.

"No, I'm not angry, because I've got God... I'm going home with my family... and I will stay in touch with my lawyers," he said.

Bain's ordeal with the law began when in 1974, at the age of 19, he was sentenced to life in prison for kidnapping and raping a nine-year-old boy.

On Thursday he wore a T-shirt emblazoned "Not Guilty," echoing his constant plea in jail since he was wrongly incarcerated.

Florida state began admitting DNA evidence to reopen criminal cases in 2001, but Bain was repeatedly turned down for the test until an appeals court finally recognized his right to a review. - Agence France Presse

BBC News - YouTube video leads to Hollywood contract

A producer from Uruguay who uploaded a short film to YouTube in November 2009 has been offered a $30m (£18.6m) contract to make a Hollywood film.

The movie will be sponsored by director Sam Raimi, whose credits include the Spiderman and Evil Dead films.

Fede Alvarez's short film "Ataque de Panico!" (Panic Attack!) featured giant robots invading and destroying Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay.

It is 4 mins 48 seconds long and was made on a budget of $300 (£186).

So far it has had more than 1.5 million views on YouTube.

"I uploaded (Panic Attack!) on a Thursday and on Monday my inbox was totally full of e-mails from Hollywood studios," he told the BBC's Latin American service BBC Mundo.

"It was amazing, we were all shocked."

The movie Mr Alvarez has been asked to produce is a sci-fi film to be shot in Uruguay and Argentina. He says he intends to start from scratch and develop a new story for the project.

"If some director from some country can achieve this just uploading a video to YouTube, it obviously means that anyone could do it," he added.

YouTube recently revealed the most watched videos of 2009. Britain's Got Talent star Susan Boyle topped the chart with more than 120 million views worldwide of her debut on the show.

(PNA) - Eight presidential and vice presidential candidates and 58 senatorial bets comprise the shortlist of aspirants in the May 10, 2010 elections.

Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Jose Melo said that the list was just partial as they were still deliberating on the certificates of candidacy filed by more than 270 individuals.

The initial number of candidates for the highest position in the land are Senator Benigno Aquino III (Liberal Party); John Carlos delos Angeles (Ang Kapatiran); deposed President Joseph Ejercito Estrada (Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino); Senator Richard Gordon (Bagumbayan); Senator Maria Anna Consuelo Madrigal (Independent); Gilbert Teodoro (LAKAS-Kampi-NUCD); Bro. Eddie Villanueva (Bangon Pilipinas) and Senator Manuel Villar (Nacionalista Party).

For the vice-presidential race, eight candidates were also allowed to run, namely, Senator Manuel Roxas (LP); Dominador Chipeco (Ang Kapatiran); former Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay (PMP); former Metro Manila Development Authority chairman Bayani Fernando (Bagumbayan); Edu Manzano (LAKAS-Kampi-NUCD); broadcaster Jay Sonza (Kilusang Bagong Lipunan) and former Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) chairman Perfecto Yasay (Bangon Pilipinas).

Other well known personalities who have yet to get the nod of the poll body are environmentalist Nicanor Perlas, former Congressman Mark Jimenez, among others.

Melo said that those who were not included in the partial list have five days to file their verified opposition before the poll body.

He said that the commission expected that the number of senatorial candidates would still increase.

The Comelec chief also said the commission expected to release the final list of candidates for next year’s polls next week.

He said the commission needed to come up with the final list since they were scheduled to print the ballots early next month.

The partial list of senatorial candidates from PMP included JV Bautista, Jose “Joey” de Venecia 3rd, Juan Ponce Enrile, Jinggoy Estrada and Jose Apolinario Lozada.

The list of senatorial candidates also included Zafrullah Alonto, Kata Inocencio, Ramoncito Ocampo, Reynaldo Princesa, Alex Tinsay and Israel Virgines, all of Bangon Pilipinas; Henry Caunan and Gwendolyn Pimentel, both of PDP-Laban.

Other senatorial candidates included Rodolfo Plaza and Vicente “Tito” Sotto III from Nationalist People's Coalition; and Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago of People’s Reform Party.

Ang Kapatiran senatorial candidates included Rizalito David, Jo Aurea Imbong, Zosimo Paredes, Maria Gracia Riñoza-Plaza, Adrian Sison, Reginald Tamayo, Hector Tarrazona and Manuel Valdehuesa Jr.

Former senator Sergio Osmeña III and Partylist Congressman Jovito Palparan (BANTAY) are running as independent.

The Comelec also allowed Grand Alliance for Democracy candidate, former Senator Francisco Tatad and KBL candidates Shariff Ibrahim Albani, Alma Lood, Regalado Maambong, Ma. Judea Millora, Imelda Papin and Hector Villanueva to run for senators.

The application of Senator Pia Cayetano, former Congressman Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., Ramon Mitra, Susan “Toots” Ople, former Partylist Representatives Liza Maza (Gabriela), Saturnino Ocampo (BAYAN Muna), Ariel Querubin, Gilbert Remulla and Adel Tamano were also approved.

The administration party’s candidates Silvestre Bello III, Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., Ramon Guico Jr., Raul Lambino, Rey Langit and Manuel “Lito” Lapid were also allowed to join the senatorial race.

The LP's senatorial aspirants included in the list were Nereus Acosta, Ana Theresia Baraquel, Martin Bautista, Rufino Biazon, Franklin Drilon, Teofisto Guingona III, Alexander Lacson, Yasmin Lao, Ralph Recto and Sonia Roco.

The campaign period for the national position will start on Feb. 9, or 90 days before the scheduled polls. (PNA)

The ratings of former Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro and Sen. Manny Villar are up in the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey on presidential candidates.

But Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III is still the leading choice of Filipinos to succeed President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

The nationwide survey, conducted from Nov. 4 to 8, showed Aquino topping the list of three leaders vying to replace Ms Arroyo, with 59 percent of respondents choosing him.

Aquino was followed by Villar and Sen. Francis Escudero with 45 percent and 27 percent, respectively.

Compared with the September survey, the number of those who mentioned Teodoro increased by 4 percentage points (from 4 percent to 8 percent), while those rooting for Villar rose by 8 percentage points (from 37 percent to 45 percent).

Given the survey’s margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points, Aquino’s rating (from 60 percent to 59 percent) was statistically unchanged from the previous survey.

Too early

“With five more months to go before the presidential elections, it’s still too early to say how the voting would go,” Villar said in a statement.

“But we are very glad with this result showing that we are not losing the support of the people. We are very thankful for the privilege to help those who are disadvantaged in life, and we vow to help them even after election time,” he said.

For the survey, SWS asked the question: “Under the present Constitution, the term of President Arroyo is up to 2010 only, and there will be an election for a new President in May 2010. Who do you think are good leaders who should succeed President Arroyo as President?”

Commissioned by Hagedorn

SWS said it did not give a list of names to prompt the respondents, but asked them to give up to three names.

The survey, commissioned by Puerto Princesa City Mayor Edward Hagedorn, was conducted using face-to-face interviews with 1,200 adults in Metro Manila, Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao.

Other names mentioned by the respondents were former President Joseph Estrada (18 percent) and Sen. Loren Legarda (4 percent).

Both Sen. Mar Roxas and Vice President Noli de Castro got 3 percent, while 2 percent of the respondents mentioned an unspecified Aquino.

Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay, Sen. Panfilo Lacson, evangelist Bro. Eddie Villanueva and former Metro Manila Development Authority Chair Bayani Fernando got 1 percent each.

Seven percent said they did not have any idea, while 3 percent had no answer.

Support for Escudero, who has withdrawn from the presidential race, increased 12 percentage points (from 15 percent to 27 percent). The ratings of Estrada, Villanueva and Fernando remained unchanged.

Those who saw their ratings drop included Roxas (from 12 percent to 3 percent), De Castro (8 percent to 5 percent) and Legarda (5 percent to 4 percent).

Roxas, Legarda, De Castro, Binay, Lacson and Fernando are not running for president. Roxas, Legarda, Binay and Fernando are seeking the vice presidency.

Solid base

Interviewed in the Senate Tuesday, Aquino said the latest SWS survey showed that his “base” of supporters were “solid.”

“If you’re the first choice of many, it would be unlikely that they would make you their second choice,” he told reporters.

Aquino said he would be more bothered if his lead were small in a survey in which respondents were asked to choose only one preferred candidate.

“(The) choose-three (question) tends to inflate your numbers,” Aquino said.

He said he expected his lead to increase further because some presidential candidates had either withdrawn or would quit the race.

“There are others who are also on the list who have indicated their withdrawal so we’ll be getting from those numbers too,” Aquino said.

A better gauge

He said “the better gauge will be the next survey.”

The choose-three type of surveys usually gives a “distorted picture,” said Roxas, Aquino’s running mate.

Roxas told reporters that this was because it tended to “bloat or inflate the numbers of the second and third choices.” Reports from Inquirer Research and Christine O. Avendaño

Barely two weeks after being named CNN Hero of the Year, Efren Peñaflorida was robbed Friday as he was stepping out of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia).

Peñaflorida, who founded Dynamic Teen Co. (DTC) and started the novel idea of the “pushcart (kariton) classrooms” had just arrived from a speaking engagement in Hong Kong and was on his way to a concert rally in Makati City.

Rezcel Fajardo, his colleague and a staff member of DTC, said Peñaflorida was about to board a car in front of Naia Terminal 2 at 1:30 p.m. when a woman sidled up to him, opened his bag and took a pouch that contained his hygiene kit.

The suspect

A staff of the Naia police identified the suspect as Molly Fernandez, 52, a resident of San Pedro, Laguna.

Fajardo said Peñaflorida immediately noticed that the pouch was missing and saw the suspect running away with it.

Peñaflorida called the attention of the police who gave chase and accosted Fernandez.

When questioned by the police, the suspect said she found the pouch and had every intention of returning it to its owner.

But police said Peñaflorida was sure he was robbed as he had noticed the suspect trying to get near him outside the airport.

Fernandez will be brought to the Pasay prosecutor’s office for inquest proceedings.

BBC News: Armed bandits have abducted dozens of students and teachers in the southern Philippines, officials say.

A military spokesman said 65 people had been seized at a school in Agusan del Sur province on Mindanao island.

Police later said 18 hostages - 17 of them children and one teacher - had been freed by the gunmen, who were described as a criminal gang.

A BBC correspondent says there is no sign it is linked to a massacre of 57 people on Mindanao last month.

The BBC's Rachel Harvey in Bangkok says there is much lawlessness in the southern Philippines.

Thursday's kidnappings took place in an area where communist rebels are known to operate, although it is not thought to be related to that four-decades long insurgency.

Nor are the abductions believed to be linked to a Muslim separatist insurgency elsewhere on Mindanao; those rebels are currently in peace talks with the government.

Army spokesman Maj Michelle Anayron told AFP news agency a "criminal gang" was responsible for the abductions near the town of Prosperidad on Mindanao's eastern coast.

Agusan del Sur Vice-Governor Santiago Cane told AP news agency 19 bandits fleeing the authorities had seized the residents to use as human shields.

Three incumbent mayors and a vice mayor seeking the top elective post of the town are running uncontested in the 2010 elections.

A staunch political supporter of President Macapagal-Arroyo was dumped by the Lakas-Kampi CMD ruling party barely an hour into the deadline of the filing of the certificates of candidacy on Tuesday, due to his alleged “disloyalty.”

Bohol Gov. Erico Aumentado was Lakas-Kampi-CMD regional chairman for Central Visayas until he was “fired” by the administration party due to his alleged association with presidential candidate, Sen. Manuel Villar of the Nacionalista Party (NP).

The national directorate of Lakas-Kampi-CMD sent to the Bohol Comelec office an hour before the 12 midnight deadline for the filing of COCs, a letter of revocation of the certificate of nomination and acceptance (CONA) issued to Governor Aumentado as the party's candidate for the second congressional district of Bohol.

Aumentado is on his third term as governor and is vying for his old House seat in Bohol's second district.

Aumentado was surprised when he was informed that Lakas-Kampi CMD president and Sarangani Gov. Miguel Dominguez and secretary general Francis Manglapus revoked his CONA, and instead, issued another CONA to Trinidad Mayor Judith Cajes as Lakas-Kampi bet for representative in the second district.

Mayor Cajes is the wife of incumbent second district Rep. Roberto Cajes, who is also on his last term.

Interviewed over a local radio station, Manglapus explained that “based on intelligence reports” Aumentado has been “covertly campaigning” for Sen. Villar, an act that was “considered contrary to the party's policy directions.”

Aumentado and Villar had been allies when both were in the House of Representatives. Aumentado served as Deputy Speaker for the Visayas and chairman of the powerful House committee on appropriations when Senator Villar was Speaker of the House.

But Aumentado denied the allegations, saying he met Villar once in Manila, recently, but he did not make any commitment with the senator.

The Bohol governor blamed the move of the national executive committee on a “conspiracy and maneuvers” made by other Lakas-Kampi stalwarts in the province, specifically Rep. Edgar Chatto and Representative Cajes, to oust him from the party for their own political survival.

A MALACAÃ'ANG INSIDER TOLD me that President Gloria hemmed and hawed hours after she was informed about the massacre in Maguindanao, instead of ordering the arrest of the Ampatuans.

As a result, the Ampatuansâ€"Zaldy, governor of the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), and his father, Maguindanao Gov. Andal Sr.â€"the alleged masterminds in the dastardly massacre can no longer be arrested without a court warrant since the prescribed 24-hour period had lapsed.

The President was told the Ampatuans could have been responsible for the massacre by one of the Mangudadatus, their political enemies, according to my Palace informant.

After receiving the information about the massacre, GMA talked with Gov. Andal Ampatuan Sr., who denied masterminding the massacre.

The President, according to the Malacañang insider, told Ampatuan she was sending investigators to Maguindanao.

She could have told Ampatuan that he would have to surrender because there were witnesses linking him and his relatives to the dastardly act.

But GMA didn’t do that because the Ampatuans are her very close political allies in Maguindanao.

The Ampatuans have aces up their sleeves against her, according to the Palace insider.

You see, the Ampatuans are political kingpins in that part of Mindanao.
They are considered demigods by many of their followers.

In the 2004 presidential election, GMA’s rival Fernando Poe Jr., a movie actor known to his fans as “FPJ,” got zero in many of the towns in Maguindanao.

There was no way cheating did not take place in the province in the 2004 elections as FPJ was idolized by the Muslims.

(An urban legend goes that when the character FPJ played died in a movie, the Muslims among the moviegoers went wild and would shoot up the screen. But we’re veering away from the story).

As a reward for their loyalty, Malacañang allegedly allowed the Ampatuans to go around with 50 or so armed bodyguards even outside their turf.

Several years ago, Gov. Andal Ampatuan confronted me at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 for writing about his many bodyguards.

I had just alighted from a PAL plane from Puerto Princesa, while he came down from a plane from General Santos City.

As I was talking to him, I took note of his bodyguards, who were all in Army uniform and lugging either M-16 rifles or M-60 machine guns. I lost count after 30.

Fortunately, Ampatuan didn’t touch me, although I sensed he wanted to slap me, but I stepped back out of his reach.

I told the President’s husband, Mike Arroyo, who was then a very close friend, about the Naia 2 incident.

I asked Mr. Arroyo why Ampatuan was allowed to go around with so many armed bodyguards even in Metro Manila, which is outside his turf.

You know what Mike Arroyo told me?

“Pabayaan mo na siya, Mon, dahil atin ’yan (Don’t mind him because he’s ours).”

I told the President’s spouse there might come a time when the Ampatuans’ abuse of power could explode in the President’s face.

The massacre in Maguindanao has made my words prophetic.

COTABATO CITY, Philippines â€" Authorities will resume the search Wednesday for more victims of a massacre that left at least 46 people dead, amid fears the death toll could top 50, the military said.

The mass killings of aides and relatives of a local politician in the southern Philippines, as well as journalists accompanying them, occurred on Monday in remote farming area on the volatile southern island of Mindanao.

"The search will continue in the general area today," the local military spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Ponce, told AFP.

"They say there could be more than 50 victims, but only 46 bodies have been recovered so we would be looking for more."

The bodies of at least 13 journalists and relatives of the local politician, Esmael Mangudadatu, were found buried in hastily dug mass graves or dumped on the side of the road in Maguindanao province.

The military said the main suspects in the abductions and murders were gunmen hired by the Maguindanao governor, Andal Ampatuan, and his son who has the same name.

Relatives of the victims and witnesses have said the powerful political clan wanted to stop Mangudadatu from challenging Ampatuan junior for the post of governor in next year's national elections.

An international group of scientists is planning to hold a second conference on the Guinsaugon landslide that occurred in Southern Leyte three years ago.

Guinsaugon, a village in St. Bernard town in Southern Leyte, was hit by a massive landslide that buried in mud and boulders almost the entire village and killed about a thousand of its residents on February 17, 2006.

St. Bernard Mayor Rico C. Rentuza said the International Consortium on Lanslide (ICL) signified interest in holding another conference on the Guinsaugon landslide in their town.

The ICL, created at the Kyoto Symposium in 2002 is an international non-governmental and non-profit scientific organization that is supported by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

Certificate Of Bad Moral Character
By Michael Ligalig, published by the Bohol Standard

Kakataw-onon ko naghunahuna sa term nga “certificate of good moral character.”

Sama aning “certificate of good moral character.”

Kung adunay certificate of good moral character, angayan kaha pud nga adunay “certificate of bad moral character”? Nangutana Lang. Matod pa sa programa ni Loy Palapos.

Unsa man kaha poy tamdanan o basihanan nga naay ‘good moral character’ ang tawo? Ug kinsa man pud ang mo-issue ug ‘certificate of bad moral character?’ Ug nganong isyuhan man pud nga wala man pangoyoa?

Pero sa ako nang gikaingon sa unahan, sanglit aduna may certificate of good moral character nga ihatag alang niadtong aghop ug mga kasingkasing aron sila makatrabaho o makaeskwela o madawat sa bisan unsa nga ilang gi-aplayan, dili ba makataronganon lang usab nga adunay mohatag ug certificate of bad moral character alang niadtong ‘maginoo pero medyo bastos’?

Kini ra bang certificate of moral character kay way hinungdan. Ngano man? Kay lagi walay mohatag nimo ug certificate of bad moral character. Kung mangayo ka ug good moral certificate, tagaan gyud ka ug good moral certificate bisan unsa pa imong kinaiya o klase nga pagkatawo. Pila ra bay pag-type sa bondpaper: This is to certify that Mr. So and So is of good moral character… blah… blah…

Unsa man lagiy basihanan nga pasidunggan ka ug certificate of good moral character?

Maingon nga daghan ang nakadawat ug certificate of good moral character nga bija diay ug kinaiya, daghan pud ang mga ngil-ad ug taras nga wala tagai ug certificate of bad moral character.

Kung gusto gyud sa usa ka eskwelahan nga makuha ang background sa usa ka tawo, NBI clearance ang pangayoon â€" dili certificate of good moral character.

Walay takos nga mohatag ug certificate of good moral character ug walay takos nga modawat niini kay ang moral character sa tawo dili angayan butangan ug certificate. Pwede character reference, pero dili certificate of good moral character.

Sa akong bahin, wala koy nahimo, nagpapirma gyud ko ug certificate of good moral character. Busy man akong amigo, ako nalay nagtype: “This is to certify that Mr. Michael Ortega Ligalig is blah…blah…blah…”

Asa Ang Hustisya Sa Guindulman?

Yes, for snacks. A participant told me that their snack was piniritong saging. Mao ga-complain sila nga they paid 3,000 pesos pero gimantinilan lang daw sila ug saging. I don't know pila ka dawin saging pud. Maayo nalang kay dili ginanggang nga saging.

I had a talk with some of the teachers who participated in the conference, and what they told me is worse than what you read here.

What saddened me is that they now have a wrong impression on Bohol and the Bol-anons. And we cannot stop people from having that kind of impression because many of them were first-timers in our province. I told them that if it was the Provincial Government that organized the event, things could have been done better.

But I wonder whether the Provincial Government would charge 3,000 pesos for a 2-day talk.

To ensure that your posted pictures in TubagBohol.com would stay here, host them with www.flickr.com, not with photobucket.com. Photobucket has a bandwidth limit and after a certain time it suddenly issues a warning that reads: "this image has been removed or deleted..."

Former world champions Evander Holyfield and Glen Johnson believe that Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao will dominate World Boxing Organization welterweight king Miguel Cotto in their upcoming super fight on Nov. 14 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Holyfield and Johnson think Pacquiao is a complete fighter and he has the arsenal to hand Cotto his second career loss.

“Miguel Cotto gets hit a lot.  Pacquiao holds his hands up, he bounces in, he bounces out.  Pacquiao throws fast punches, and Cotto has not shown that. If he does not have an answer for someone like that, he dies out,” said Holyfield in a report posted at Examiner.com.

Holyfield had memorable battles with Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis and has held world titles in the cruiserweight and heavyweight classes, and at 47, he is still fighting professionally.

Johnson, on the other hand, a former International Boxing Federation light heavyweight champion, said that Cotto hasn’t recovered from the beating he got from Mexican banger Antonio Margarito last year.

“Cotto took a whooping from Margarito, so he is a little punch shy.  I think Cotto still has some tools that he can use, but I believe Pacquiao will come out the winner. - Sun Star

Twenty-year-old Norton was bitterly disappointed at not being cast as Joseph in the church school Nativity pageant. He was given the minor role of the innkeeper instead. Throughout the weeks of rehearsal he brooded on how he could avenge himself on his little brother, Wayne, who had been awarded the part of Joseph. On the day of the performance, Wayne (as Joseph) and his sister Kelly (as Mary) made their entrance and knocked on the door of the inn. Norton (the innkeeper) opened it a fraction and eyed them with suspicion.

Joseph implored, "Can you give us board and lodging for the night?" He then stood back awaiting the expected rejection. But Norton had not plotted all those weeks for nothing. He flung the door wide, smiled, and shouted, "Come in, come in! You shall have the best room in the hotel."

There was a long pause. Then with great presence of mind, Wayne turned and said to Kelly, "Hold on. I'll take a look inside first." He peered past the innkeeper, shook his head firmly and said, "I'm not taking my wife into a filthy place like this. Come on, Mary, I'd rather sleep in a stable."

The pageant was back on course.

A rabbi and a soap maker went for a walk together. The soap maker said, "What good is religion? Look at all the trouble and misery of the world! Still there, even after years - thousands of years - of teaching about goodness and truth and peace. Still there, after all the prayers and sermons and teachings. If religion is good and true, why should this be?"

The rabbi said nothing. They continued walking until he noticed a child playing in the gutter.

Then the rabbi said, "Look at that child. You say that soap makes people clean, but see the dirt on that youngster. Of what good is soap? With all the soap in the world, over all these years, the child is still filthy. I wonder how effective soap is, after all!"

The soap maker protested. "But, Rabbi, soap cannot do any good unless it is used!"

"Exactly!" replied the rabbi.

Centenarians with the bodies of 50-year-olds will one day be a realistic possibility, say scientists.

Half of babies now born in the UK will reach 100, thanks to higher living standards, but our bodies are wearing out at the same rate.

To achieve "50 active years after 50", experts at Leeds University are spending £50m over five years looking at innovative solutions.

They plan to provide pensioners with own-grown tissues and durable implants.

New hips, knees and heart valves are the starting points, but eventually they envisage most of the body parts that flounder with age could be upgraded.

Reflection:

"Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool." - Isaiah 1:18

"I, even I, am the one who wipes out your transgressions for My own sake, And I will not remember your sins." - Isaiah 43:25

"I have wiped out your transgressions like a thick cloud And your sins like a heavy mist. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you." - Isaiah 44:22

"Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow." Psalm 51:7

Masai warriors 'protect' lions
A group of Masai warriors in Kenya have turned from hunting lions to protecting them as part of a unique wildlife project. They have been employed by a conservation charity to help track the lions and document their whereabouts. Amy Howard from "Living with Lions" says the support from the Masai warriors has been invaluable, as they tell their communities where the lions are, so there is less conflict between their animal herds and the lions.

A mentally deranged 35-year-old mother killed her own four children by throwing them into a river in Negros Occidental province to drown, a radio report said Friday.

Radio dzXL said Florencia Bahinag threw the children, the youngest of whom was nine months old, into the river in Cambayaba village in Calatrava town at 8 a.m. Thursday.

Killed were Floramae Jean Bahinag, 12; Joselenio, 6; Veronica, 5; and nine-month-old John.

Initial investigation showed Florencia told her husband Herminiano she was taking the children for a stroll along the river.

She returned after two hours, and told her husband the children had drowned. Herminiano rushed to the river to save the children but it was too late. Florencia admitted throwing nine-month-old John into the river first, then had the three other children jump.

Local police have detained Florencia, and are now verifying claims that she had become deranged after giving birth. - GMANews.TV
