This is a small world, Aachen is just 20 km away from Belgium!
#9806
I think Rizal Victoria will be happy to meet you. He resides in Heidelberg. He is now in Balilihan planting mahogany trees. Please google Aachen, it is 1 1/2 hour form Wuppertal by train. My daughter studied in Tech University Berlin. She is now in Hannover Uni for her MA thesis. Mind you I was never been in Berlin, due to my financial situation. But if you wishes to visit these places we could get in touch with nice friends who could accommodate you.

Inday Belle,

Ni-a ko sa Wuppertal 70 km, apan 17 minutes ra sa train. This is the favorite of Nancy Reagan. She loves shopping here. There are independent fashion designers who loves to show their work with few people.  There are artist who work and not really commencially motivated. They could afford it, less profit in mind. This trend is now well practiced in Berlin. Condo Rice comes here if she is in Europe. Some streets are closed if she goes shopping late in the evening. Duesseldorf is the capital of North Rhine Wesphalia. This is a very expensive city due to the presence of  strong Japanese community.  Good night Indayon.

How young are you Mari?  I lost a 5 month old boy, I felt nothing, but the ultrasound showed he shrunk and 3 weeks dead in me so they rush me to the hospital.  I got pregnant again after a year and gave birth to a boy,I was 43 that time.
Getting a child is a gift of God. Talk talk talk, don´t be alone, cry if you wanted to and don´t be ashamed. This kind of loss is very devastating.

Pina Bausch of Wuppertal .., this eccentric artist heightens tension in her theater pieces because she contradicts the use of beautiful faces and figures. The characters are uneven, some are stout, some are short, a man keeps slapping a woman and demands her to do the same. I always get a headache watching her programme.  This is avant garde for some, and she is well-known and highly decorated. ( Picture comes later)

I met Pauline Daba who is a graduate of Computer and Chemical engineering from Ateneo de Manila. She works in a British company and presently assigned as senior computer programmer here in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. She is from Cag de Oro City, her  mother  is from Bohol, aside from being very intelligent, she´s so humble.
She is very much respected from her collegues ( mostly male).

It lies in our mentality, women has much to struggle to prove her worth. Maka pabuntis ang lalake, okay lang, pag babae ang bumuntis, haliparot!
In our country there is a strong sexism. Dolls for girls, car toys for boys. Pink dresses for girls, blue pair of trousers for boys.
In terms of pamumuhay, ang lalake madali manghina ang loob, pero ang kahirapan naka patong sa balikat ng babae. Ang mga anak ay igagapang para maka-kain at maka-pag aral.

The Schwebebahn ( Picture comes later),

The Wuppertal Schwebebahn is a suspension railway in Wuppertal, Germany. Its full name is the “Eugen Langen Monorail Suspension Railway” (Einschienige Hängebahn System Eugen Langen). Designed by Eugen Langen, who originally planned to build it in Berlin, it was built in 1900, opened in 1901 and is still in use today as a local transport system in the city. It is the oldest monorail system in the world.

The suspension railway travels along a route 13.3 kilometres long, about 12 metres above the surface of the river Wupper between Oberbarmen and Sonnborner Straße[1] (10 km[2]) and approximately 8 m above the city streets, between Sonnborner Straße and Vohwinkel[1] (3.3 km).[2] At one point the railway crosses the A46 motorway. The entire trip takes about 30 minutes.[2]

75,000 commuters uses this means of transportations during working days.

Day Grazie,
I´m banging my head, I can´t follow the guidelines of Inday Hazel, bolok gajud kining akong utok brain. Please google the Schwebebahn.
I will try to post more about Wuppertal which is very rich in history and culture.
One that is worth mentioning is the Barmer Erklaerung ( Barmen Communique) that expresses the separation of the church and the state, and that during NS (National Socialism with Adolf HItler as the godfather) regime, the Protestant religion abhors the politics of the this era 1934.

Introduce Yourself / Wuppertal, My Second Home!
October 13, 2008, 04:20:22 AM

Wuppertal, a mixture of outgoing metropolis and cosy village richly adorned with stucco facades and handsome half- timbered houses, offers interesting surprises: a total of 8,723
It has a population of 360,000. The birthplace of Friedrich Engels a German social scientist and philosopher, who developed communist theory alongside his better-known collaborator, Karl Marx, co-authoring The Communist Manifesto (1848). Engels also edited the second and third volumes of Das Kapital after Marx's death. The home of Bayer chemicals ( Aspirin), the first concentration camp was built here.

A very good friend of mine Mr Rizal Victoria, ( from Bicol) resident of Blackforest, Germany bought a piece of land in Balilihan to plant mahogany trees. He wants to make the country green and started in our province. He is hoping that when he leaves Balilihan, people will appreciate his undertakings and see to it that they will grow. He is still in Balilihan now as of this writing. Rizal will fly to Davao next week to do the same.

A Philippine business delegation will be in Germany from 12  to 17 October 2008 to inform the German business community in Baden-Wurttemberg, Munich and North Rhine Westphalia, about business opportunities in the Philippines.    To be headed by Philippine Economic Zone Authority Director General Lilia de Lima, the delegation will promote Philippine services and microfinance and are scheduled to hold meetings with selected German players in these sectors.  A program for the delegation has been planned in coordination with the Philippine Honorary Consuls in these cities.

In North Rhine Westphalia, the focus will be on microfinance.  The group will proceed to the Wolfsburg Akademie in Mulheim an der Ruhr (near Essen) where a full day event will take place on 16 October.  With the theme fighting poverty through microfinance, the morning session will focus on the possibilities offered by microfinance projects in providing employment and encouraging entrepreneurship for the less-fortunate sectors of Philippine society.   The afternoon session will focus on other areas of the Philippine economy which offer opportunities for the German business sector, such as economic zones, energy and  BPO/IT.

Bol-anon sa Germany is invited to participate (including your humble TB member), are you interested to hear some reports about this occassion?  May I ask also your support if you have some educational background, experiences and local business to update me about the situation in our country especially Bohol so I could partake in the discussions and maybe we learn a lot from here and we could implement it in our province?  I am looking forward to your feedbacks, salamat jamo.

The whole world is scared of China made "black hearted goods". Can you differentiate which one is made in Taiwan or China ? Let me tell u...the first 3 digits of barcode 690.691.692 are MADE IN CHINA

471 is Made in Taiwan .

This is our human right to know, but the government and related department never educate the public, therefore we have to RESCUE ourselves.

Nowadays,  Chinese businessmen know that consumers do not prefer products "made in china", so they don't show from which country it is made.
However, you may now refer to the barcode, remember if the first 3 digits is:

690-692 then it is made in China .

00 ~ 09 USA & CANADA

30 ~ 37 FRANCE

40 ~ 44 GERMANY

49 - JAPAN

50 - UK
Consumers be aware.

Kiamoy,
This is very interesting! I could remember Newsweek magazine made a report on this, what causes one to be a murderer, homosexuality, drug addiction and the like.
Nature or nurture?   With the first 80 % nurture, , the second still undetermined and the third nature, this propensity to be addicted is hereditary. The article is 15 years old. There must be some more lights on this issue.

Dear Inday Grace,

We release 500 Euros per project , this is usually a town or barrio of a member. A project proposal is presented to the group with sketches, plan or proposal signed by the barrio captain or Hermana/hermano mayor. For example wall paintings, fences because some animals are housed in the chapel,  eating the flower garden. Some requests for guitars para sa choir, plastic chairs, waiting sheds. Book shelves, etc.  I will email the rest to you since I´m still learning how to post pictures (tutorial ni Hazel salamat Inday Gingah).

As to Cebauno nga Bol-anon, si Mar Llorente ni-apil sa photo, siya naga negosyo ug Balikbayan Box and iyng misis si Chit ang miembro, siya ang among tresorera. I will inform him if you tell me the maiden name of your wife.
We are still struggling, most of us not so experienced in running an organization.  The German laws are so rigid in  terms of fundraising  and where the money goes. We have to make a report yearly to the Finanzamt ( BIR sa ato pa). With our book, minutes of the meeting and the way the fundraising is done. Thanks for your interest folks.

are still living in the mentality of the 40s,( I would like to comment on this MIke)

40 years ago, our country was considered one of the dark horses in Asia. The late President Garcia promoted the slogan " Filipino First policy", to deviate our colonial mentality or our penchant of loving what is imported. A noble cause which was sad to say not perpetuated by his succesors.
Much money had been  usurped by political dynasties.  There are billions of US dollars here in European bank accounts which could have been used for infrastructure,  economic developments,   education etc...,just to name a few.
Praise to you people who had done well in your line of professions and sharing your gifts and talents to our beloved fellow Bol-anons. May your tribe increase!

Bonquest posting is a hot topic, nursing is for me a high profession. Medical nurses who came here in Germany are well respected.  It is still high in demand in England and the nearby island like Ireland.  One of the requisite is passing TOEFL ( Test on English as a Second language) The advantage in landing a job in England is that you can bring your family after a certain number of years. Israel seek highly qualified nurses, which means dedicated to their professions.

I love this one, Magnificat

The canticle echoes several Old Testament biblical passages

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour;
he has looked with favour on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessed;
the Almighty has done great things for me and holy is his name.
He has mercy on those who fear him,
from generation to generation.
He has shown strength with his arm
and has scattered the proud in their conceit,
Casting down the mighty from their thrones
and lifting up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good thing
and sent the rich away empty.
He has come to the aid of his servant Israel,
to remember his promise of mercy,
The promise made to our ancestors,
to Abraham and his children for ever.

Each day we live is a new day
One in which we can start anew
We can't ever change yesterday
Here's another chance for you

Things that went bad yesterday
We shouldn't carry over now
Just forgive and forget it all
We will get through some how

Each day is a brand new day
We all are given a fresh start
Do better with this new one
Let kindness fill your heart

We'll fail to do our best today
If we worry about tomorrow
If we grieve about the past
We keep fresh all it's sorrow

Do good for each of your friends
Do the same for your foes
Always say loving words
Forget about all your woes

Don't look back with regrets
To your many mistakes
Continue to keep pressing forward
To each new day that God makes

I accept life unconditionally. Life holds so much--
so much to be happy about always.
Most people ask for happiness on condition.
Happiness can be felt only if you don't set conditions.

Buwadsanga,
The stigmata of Padre Pio slowly vanished as he neared death, this was the sign the monks understood that his days are numbered.  He was buried with out any trace of Christ´s wounds/stigmata.

Kapoy na kanang verbal encounter, kining mga politiko nakolokar karon aron ang ilang panaad nga silbihan ang mga katawhan  matuman. It is their moral duty! They can discern their conscience.

Inday Grazie,
I was writing a few lines for you per email  and also responded to a thread about dreaming of the departed friends/love ones, then I read this report, naglibawot ang akong balhibo. The message is clear,   to pray more!

Mga Indayon,
Mag damgo gani mo ug mga namatay na, palihug pa-misa. Kon ang inyong damgo mag-balik-balik , sulayi ug pangutana kon unsa pa man ang tuyo. There is a lady from Austria Maria Simma,( she is already dead, but she is being beatified)  who gets contacts with the departed ones. They usually have some message to tell.  If you have time to read about this kind of topic please read Padre Pio, he is very devoted to the Holy Souls and he said, they suffer at least a hundred years in the Purgatory.  This was a schock for me. I had been devoting myself to offer what I could do to the Holy souls.  To my especial relatives I offered Gregorian mass. This is a series of  mass dedicated to a person for 30 days (the mass is only for this deceased one).  Kon malaktawan, balik na sab sa sinugdanan. Franciscan orders in the USA accepts this offering at 150 US dollars. Here in Germany (where I stay ) is almost 300-350 Euro. This is just an opinion and a personal view on my side being a catholic. If this message inetrested you just Google the topics. God Bless.
ps.
Chinese are different if they dream of a departed person, it brings luck. Mo-taya sila ug Lotto. Pick your choice.

minute meditations

The Eucharist and the Poor
If we really believe that he, Jesus, is in the appearance of bread and he, Jesus, is in the hungry, the naked, the sick, the lonely, unloved, the homeless, the helpless, the hopeless, then our lives will be more and more woven with this deep faith in Jesus, the bread of life to be eaten with and for the poor.

This is very tragic, yet the President capitalizes on this issue to distract the nation from the rampant corruption on her administration. how long will she hang on her power?
