Inspiration & Hope / Faith, Hope, and Love…

FAITH

Do I make an honest effort to grow in the virtue of faith by daily mental prayer on the mysteries of the faith as revealed in the life of Jesus Christ?
Do I make at least a short act of faith every day?
Do I pray daily for an increase of faith?
Do I ever tempt God by relying on my own strength to cope with the trials in my life?
Do I unnecessarily read or listen to those who oppose or belittle what I know are truths of my Catholic faith?
What have I done today to externally profess my faith?
Have I allowed human respect to keep me from giving expression to my faith?
Do I make a serious effort to resolve difficulties that may arise about my faith?
Do I ever defend my faith, prudently and charitably, when someone says something contrary to what I know is to be believed?
Have I helped someone overcome a difficulty against the faith?

Inspiration & Hope / Re: The Eucharist As Sacrifice

What is the fruit that is born out of this?  We are enabled to love until it hurts.  Without the Eucharist, it would be impossible to love in this way.  One cannot give what one does not have.  It sounds nice to say that we love a lotâ€"and generally, we think so highly of ourselves, we usually think, “Sure, I could love until it hurts.”  But when it comes down to it, it is very, very difficult.  The flesh rebels.  The spirit rebels.  We simply do not have it in us.  We are empty.  In the concrete circumstances of our lives, when we are called to love beyond our human strengthâ€"whether it be with a newborn baby, a child, a friend, spouse, neighbor, co-worker, or anyone whom God has placed in our path and called us to loveâ€"we cannot do it without God’s grace.  And we receive that grace in the Eucharist.  We thus offer ourselves to the Father, completely and totally, and we receive back all that we need to love the way that Jesus loves, with His own heart.  Then we will be able to love until it hurts.

Inspiration & Hope / Re: The Eucharist As Sacrifice
October 31, 2012, 05:39:34 AM
How do we do this?  First, we should prepare ourselves ahead of time for Sunday Mass.  Ideally this should involve reading and reflecting on the readings, because the readings, in turn, prepare us for the Eucharist.  The readings make present to us the reality of salvation history, the action of God in redeeming the world.  Then, during the liturgy of the Eucharist, God does what He just told us about in the readingsâ€"He redeems the world.  The wonder of it is not just that this is happening before our eyes, but that we are called to be a part of it.  By joining ourselves to Jesus’ sacrifice to the Father, we become participants in redemptionâ€"first, our own redemption, and then, that of the whole world.

How, our own redemption?  To fully, consciously, and actively participate in the sacrifice of the Mass, we must, in turn, offer ourselves as a “living sacrifice” to the Father.  This we cannot do on our ownâ€"that is why Jesus has gone before us, and he enables us to do it, if we are united with Him.  So what does this mean?  It means that we give back to the Father all that we have received, both the good and the bad, as an offering of love.  It is certainly no less an offering that is made between spouses, when they renew their marital bond through the act of sexual self-giving.  If we can give ourselvesâ€"all of ourselves, not just the good parts, but the bad parts, tooâ€"to our spouses in love, surely we can give as much, if not more, to God.  We give to the Father, in thanksgiving, all of the joys and blessings we experience.  Can we think of them, one by one, and then offer them back to the Father in gratitude?  We also give to the Father all of our sufferings, the trials we are presently going through, at home or work, whether physical or emotional, psychological or spiritual.  All that we are, and all that we have, we relinquish control overâ€"not just symbolically, but really.  Really let it goâ€"give it to the Father in the same way that Jesus gave everything over to the Father on the Cross.  Jesus will help us do it.  Then, if we do this, will we be participating in the Eucharist.

Inspiration & Hope / Re: The Eucharist As Sacrifice

This is what is taking place at Mass, if we have eyes to see it.  More than just a meal (though that is part of it), the Eucharist is primarily a sacrifice.  That is why the action of the Eucharist takes place on an altar, and not just a table.  On this altar, Jesus is the High Priestâ€"a priest being one who offers sacrifice to Godâ€"and He is at the same time the Victim being offered to God.  He is both Priest and Victim.  His perfect sacrifice on the Cross, where He offered Himself as expiation for the sins of the world, is made present to us again.  During the Eucharistic Prayer, we are at the foot of the Cross, with Mary and John and the other women.  Are we aware of what is happening?

The Second Vatican Council called for “full, conscious, and active participation” in the Eucharistic liturgy.  So we naturally should ask, participation in what, exactly?  We have to know and understand what is really taking place, if we are to participate in it.  Well, what is taking place is the sacrifice of Jesus in His Paschal Mystery, the same sacrifice that took place 2000 years ago.  So participation will essentially consist in uniting ourselves to Jesus in His self-offering to the Father.

Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta once said, “Love until it hurts.”  This sums up the Eucharist as sacrificeâ€"it is the sacramental expression of Jesus’ love unto the end, where he gave His life for us, on the Cross.  So not only is the Eucharist the Real Presence of Jesus, it is the re-presentation of His sacrifice on Calvary, His perfect act of total self-giving love.  In other words, the same sacrifice that Jesus made 2000 years ago, is made present to us again, so that we may participate in it, and thereby draw fruit from it.  The veil between time and eternity is lifted, as it were, and we peer into the past, into the eternal act of the God-Man who gave Himself up for us, for the forgiveness of our sins.  Jesus loved until it hurt.

Poems and Poets / In the World, Not of It

I am a silvered thread that dances
from fore to aft in one of France’s
Bâteaux-Mouches, a phantom ferry,
waltzing toward gallic estuary
of the River Seine, at midnight.

Adorned with memories and moonlit kisses,
collecting dreams of Parisian misses,
my starboard lights are coyly winking
as broken hearts I keep from sinking
off the Pont des Arts, the Lover’s Bridge.

In the night, when all are sleeping,
a romantic vigil I am keeping,
patrolling close these sacred waters,
gathering forsaken hopes of daughters
whose lovers have left them, quite dejected.

In the world, but not quite of it,
my raison d’être is divinely lit
by Sacré Coeur, whose redeeming pain
as I journey toward Alsace-Lorraine,
leaves shattered promises healed, and long forgotten.

Poems and Poets / Portrait of a Priest as a Young Boy
October 31, 2012, 05:32:27 AM
By: Albert Cipriani

Back when my knuckles hadn’t yet emerged
like islands from my baby fat, nor facts
from dreams, and one-scoop ice-cream cones could serve
to satiate the deepest longings that
I could conceive of (my conception being
so near and puberty so far away),
they placed in my pink palm a cotton string.
I clutched it with both hands as if to pray
thanksgiving to the clown for that balloon,
that floating jewel of redness half my size,
that (once I took my eyes from it, resumed
my place beside my mother,) just as I
reached out to hold her hand, slipped from mine.
Since then, I’ve vowed to hold to what’s divine.

Poems and Poets / Prayer for Humility

Because the first must be the last
And only little ones can pass
Beyond the gate--narrow and small
Where God is waiting for us all.

Jesus, lift my spirit up
I raise to You my empty cup
As I approach the narrow way
Make me a little one today.

General Topic / Re: More Filipinos Opt for Cremation?
October 31, 2012, 05:23:15 AM
Perhaps the reason why there is a preference for burial instead of cremation lies on the Christian Doctrine of the Resurrection of the Body. To cite the Catechism of the One, Holy, Roman Catholic Church:

988 The Christian Creed - the profession of our faith in God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and in God's creative, saving, and sanctifying action - culminates in the proclamation of the resurrection of the dead on the last day and in life everlasting.

989 We firmly believe, and hence we hope that, just as Christ is truly risen from the dead and lives for ever, so after death the righteous will live for ever with the risen Christ and he will raise them up on the last day.534 Our resurrection, like his own, will be the work of the Most Holy Trinity:

If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through his Spirit who dwells in you.

990 The term "flesh" refers to man in his state of weakness and mortality.536 The "resurrection of the flesh" (the literal formulation of the Apostles' Creed) means not only that the immortal soul will live on after death, but that even our "mortal body" will come to life again.

The cost on humanity by these storms is indescribable. Be they in the Philippines, or the United States, the presence of such storms reminds us of the awesome power of God. It is interesting -- i would like to put it in a certain perspective -- during safety and nonchalance of life, we feel secure and often find excuses not to pray. However, it is in times of natural disaster -- such as typhoons, hurricanes, and other natural calamities-- do we find ourselves kneeling before the Divine Throne of God for mercy and protection. Why is it that we cannot pray like this more often?

Ever wonder?

I can't believe that people in those days used to travel in boats such as these. Imagine all the lives that were lost at sea with boats like these sank to the bottom? The days before 'GPS' or coast guard patrols. :o

Even Chicago is affected. I took a jog this morning by the lake and saw the surging waves in Lake Michicagan...waves that reached 35 feet tall. It seems as if all of America is affected by these storms.

I was introduced to a Marian adoration prayer some time ago. I will endorse it to you, Isles. It helped me so much.

Prayer of The Miraculous Medal

O Virgin Mother of God, Mary Immaculate, We dedicate and consecrate ourselves to you under the title of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. May this Medal be for each one of us a sure sign of your affection for us and a constant reminder of our duties toward you. Ever while wearing it, may we be blessed by your loving protection and preserved in the grace of your Son. O Most Powerful Virgin, Mother of Our Savior, keep us close to you every moment of our lives. Obtain for us, your children, the grace of a happy death; so that in union with you, we may enjoy the bliss of Heaven forever.
Amen.

That, my dear, is the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in you...! May the Holy Spirit overwhelm you and be with you always.

I was the same, Isles, it took a while for me to forgive. But if we surrender to the Holy Spirit ...we become truly closer to God.

May You always be blessed, my dear friend.

O Mary, conceived without sin,
pray for us who have recourse to thee,
and for those who do not have recourse to thee,
especially the enemies of the Church
and those recommended to thee,

O Mary, recall the solemn moment when Jesus,
your divine Son, dying on the Cross,
confided us to your maternal care.
You are our Mother, we desire ever to remain your devout children.
Let us therefore feel the effects of your powerful intercession with Jesus Christ.
make your Name again glorious in the shrine once renowned throughout England by your visits, favours, and many miracles.
Pray, O holy Mother of God, for the conversion of England, restoration of the sick, consolation for the afflicted, repentance of sinners, peace to the departed.
O blessed Mary, Mother of God, our Lady of Walsingham, intercede for us.
Amen.

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, Our life, our sweetness and our hope.
To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve, To thee do we send up our sighs, Mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, And after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God, That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Amen.

August Queen of Heaven, sovereign Mistress of the Angels, who didst receive from the beginning the mission and the power to crush the serpent’s head, we beseech thee to send thy holy angels, that under thy command and by thy power, they may pursue the evil spirits, encounter them on every side, resist their bold attacks, and drive them hence into the abyss of woe.

Most holy Mother, send thy angels to defend us and to drive the cruel enemy from us.

All ye holy angels and archangel, help and defend us. Amen.

O good and tender Mother! Thou shalt ever be our Love and our Hope.

Holy Angels and Archangels, keep and defend us. Amen

Most Holy and Adorable Trinity, one God in three Persons,
I firmly believe that You are here present;
I adore You with the most profound humility;
I praise You and give You thanks
with all my heart for the favors You have bestowed on me.
Your Goodness has brought me safely to the beginning of this day.
Behold, O Lord,
I offer You my whole being and in particular
all my thoughts, words and actions,
together with such crosses and
contradictions as I may meet with in the course of this day.
Give them, O Lord, Your blessing;
may Your divine Love animate them and
may they tend to the greater honor and glory of Your Sovereign Majesty.
Amen.

God, master of this passing world, hear the humble voices of your
children.
The Sea of Galilee obeyed your order and returned to its
former quietude.
You are still the master of land and sea.
We live in
the shadow of a danger over which we have no control:
the Gulf, like
a provoked and angry giant, can awake from its seeming lethargy,
overstep its conventional boundaries, invade our land, and spread chaos and disaster.

During this hurricane season we turn to you, O loving father. Spare us from past tragedies whose memories are still so vivid and whose wounds seem to refuse to heal with passing of time.
O virgin, star of the sea, Our beloved mother, we ask you to plead with your son in our behalf, so that spared from the calamities common to this area and animated with a true spirit of gratitude, we will walk in the footsteps of your divine son to reach the heavenly Jerusalem
where a stormless eternity awaits us.
Amen.

We humbly beseech you
Lord, Most High,
to keep us safe from all dangers
and to calm all the storms of life that threaten us:
especially the attack of whirlwinds and tornadoes,
the calamity and destruction of hurricanes,
the din and damage of hail storms,
the striking of thunderbolts and lightning,
and the devastation of floods and tidal waves.

May we be secure in your loving protection,
seek your Will in all our experiences,
and serve you always with grateful hearts.
We ask this through our Lord, Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

I need courage before men against their threats
and against their seductions.

I need courage to bear unkindness,
mockery, contradiction.

I need courage to fight against the devil,
against terrors and troubles, temptations,
attractions, darkness and false lights,
against tears, depression, and above all fear.

I need Your help, dear God.

Strengthen me with Your love and Your grace.

Console me with Your blessed Presence

Bible Study / Prayer for the Unborn Child
October 31, 2012, 02:02:34 AM
Almighty God, our Father,
you who have given us life
and intended us to have it forever,
grant us your blessings.
Enlighten our minds to an awareness
and to a renewed conviction
that all human life is sacred
because it is created
in your image and likeness.
Help us to teach by word
and the example of our lives
that life occupies the first place,
that human life is precious
because it is the gift of God
whose love is infinite.
Give us the strength to defend human life
against every influence
or action that threatens or weakens it,
as well as the strength
to make every life more human
in all its aspects.

Give us the grace...
When the sacredness of life
before birth is attacked,
to stand up and proclaim
that no one ever has the authority
to destroy unborn life.

When a child is described as a burden
or is looked upon only as a means
to satisfy an emotional need,
to stand up
and insist that every child is a unique
and unrepeatable gift of God,
a gift of God
with a right to a loving
and united family.

When the institution of marriage
is abandoned to human selfishness
or reduced to a temporary conditional arrangement
that can easily be terminated,
to stand up and affirm
the indissolubility of the marriage bond.

When the value of the family is threatened
because of social and economic pressure,
to stand up and reaffirm
that the family is necessary
not only for the private good of every person,
but also for the common good of every society,
nation and state.

When freedom is used to dominate the weak,
to squander natural resources and energy,
to deny basic necessities to people,
to stand up and affirm
the demands of justice and social love.

Almighty Father,
give us courage to proclaim the supreme dignity
of all human life and to demand
that society itself give its protection.
We ask this in your name,
through the redemptive act
of your Son and in the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

Faultless Lord, enduring death for me,
You have consummated the debt of my sins:
Your sacrifice of forgiveness was absolute!
Grant me the strength to also forgive others,
To excuse their transgressions against me.
So I may truly reflect this spiritual fruit,
Obliterate any persistent feelings of malice.
Let each trespass end as a closing chapter,
My continuing on the road of righteousness.
Forgive my sins as I aspire to forgive others.
You are truly archetypical of forgiveness.
You are a most forgiving Lord!

this isn't new.  wa lay doctor nga mo-admit, but this has been standard practice.  consider two very similar medicines from two different pharmaceuticals.  which of the two would the doctor prescribe?  naturally, the one coming from the pharmaceutical with better marketing, i.e., the more thoughtful one.

you have a point, isles. doctors need to think about the drug's indications and adverse effects and use that as basis of prescription not on what toys the med rep gave.

getting caught is not worth the loss of $300,000 of medical education and licensure!!

There should be increased regulation in this regard. In the United States, this is no longer exercised as pharmaceutical reps are now limited in their powers; in addition, physicians who accept these "gifts" are liable to loose their medical license.

I hear of stories how in the 1990's, med reps would treat doctors out to expensive dinners, give them free tickets to disney world, and "expense accounts". whoa! talk about severe ethical misconduct? conflict of interest gajod.

In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

Kumusta lakandula! Thank you for joining our forum, but let us not have fighting and quarreling amongst us here. We welcome Balong's return and we also welcome the peaceful and loving cooperation amongst members in here. Let us not hate, but let us love. If you read scripture, my friend, i ask you to turn to 1st John 4: 19-21, which states, "We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother."

Even if we have quarrels and disagreements with someone, forgive. Hapit na baya ang Pasko, bai lakandula. As we prepare for the celebration of the coming of our savior Jesus Christ , who came into the world to forgive us all of our sin, to be the ultimate sacrifice, the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, we are imparted by his words, "Love one another as I LOVE YOU!"

Peace be with you, and let there be love amongst us here. Please tell your friend Balong to come back. We miss him and we love him.  ;)

Let's pray that our relatives, friends in the area are safe from harm. May our merciful and Loving Lord God protect all those who call to Him for protection and safety. As He parted the river jordan for the israelites to free them from the clutches of Pharaoh, He can reduce this storm to asunder. Let us pray that this storm is reduced in the coming days and that God will protect those in harms way.

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

How to be a victorious Christian life?

Pls share your thoughts.

In this regard, one cannot help but ask the ultimate question of, "what is life?" "how is one's life made pleasing unto God?"
Let us study the Catechism which addresses this very fundamental and spiritual question, okay?

I. The life of man - to know and love God

1 God, infinitely perfect and blessed in himself, in a plan of sheer goodness freely created man to make him share in his own blessed life. For this reason, at every time and in every place, God draws close to man. He calls man to seek him, to know him, to love him with all his strength. He calls together all men, scattered and divided by sin, into the unity of his family, the Church. To accomplish this, when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son as Redeemer and Saviour. In his Son and through him, he invites men to become, in the Holy Spirit, his adopted children and thus heirs of his blessed life.

2 So that this call should resound throughout the world, Christ sent forth the apostles he had chosen, commissioning them to proclaim the gospel: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age."4 Strengthened by this mission, the apostles "went forth and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by the signs that attended it."5

3 Those who with God's help have welcomed Christ's call and freely responded to it are urged on by love of Christ to proclaim the Good News everywhere in the world. This treasure, received from the apostles, has been faithfully guarded by their successors. All Christ's faithful are called to hand it on from generation to generation, by professing the faith, by living it in fraternal sharing, and by celebrating it in liturgy and prayer.6

Seasons Greetings Bai Vhinz!

You ask a very poignant question, which is answered by the Catechism of the One, Holy, Roman Catholic Church, which is the perfect authoritative reference in this regard.

Part Three
Life In Christ

1691 "Christian, recognize your dignity and, now that you share in God's own nature, do not return to your former base condition by sinning. Remember who is your head and of whose body you are a member. Never forget that you have been rescued from the power of darkness and brought into the light of the Kingdom of God."1

1692 The Symbol of the faith confesses the greatness of God's gifts to man in his work of creation, and even more in redemption and sanctification. What faith confesses, the sacraments communicate: by the sacraments of rebirth, Christians have become "children of God,"2 "partakers of the divine nature."3 Coming to see in the faith their new dignity, Christians are called to lead henceforth a life "worthy of the gospel of Christ."4 They are made capable of doing so by the grace of Christ and the gifts of his Spirit, which they receive through the sacraments and through prayer.

1693 Christ Jesus always did what was pleasing to the Father,5 and always lived in perfect communion with him. Likewise Christ's disciples are invited to live in the sight of the Father "who sees in secret,"6 in order to become "perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect."7

1694 Incorporated into Christ by Baptism, Christians are "dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus" and so participate in the life of the Risen Lord.8 Following Christ and united with him,9 Christians can strive to be "imitators of God as beloved children, and walk in love"10 by conforming their thoughts, words and actions to the "mind . . . which is yours in Christ Jesus,"11 and by following his example.12

1695 "Justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God,"13 "sanctified . . . [and] called to be saints,"14 Christians have become the temple of the Holy Spirit.15 This "Spirit of the Son" teaches them to pray to the Father16 and, having become their life, prompts them to act so as to bear "the fruit of the Spirit"17 by charity in action. Healing the wounds of sin, the Holy Spirit renews us interiorly through a spiritual transformation.18 He enlightens and strengthens us to live as "children of light" through "all that is good and right and true."19

1696 The way of Christ "leads to life"; a contrary way "leads to destruction." The Gospel parable of the two ways remains ever present in the catechesis of the Church; it shows the importance of moral decisions for our salvation: "There are two ways, the one of life, the other of death; but between the two, there is a great difference."21

1697 Catechesis has to reveal in all clarity the joy and the demands of the way of Christ.22 Catechesis for the "newness of life"23 in him should be:

- a catechesis of the Holy Spirit, the interior Master of life according to Christ, a gentle guest and friend who inspires, guides, corrects, and strengthens this life;

- a catechesis of grace, for it is by grace that we are saved and again it is by grace that our works can bear fruit for eternal life;

- a catechesis of the beatitudes, for the way of Christ is summed up in the beatitudes, the only path that leads to the eternal beatitude for which the human heart longs;

- a catechesis of sin and forgiveness, for unless man acknowledges that he is a sinner he cannot know the truth about himself, which is a condition for acting justly; and without the offer of forgiveness he would not be able to bear this truth;

- a catechesis of the human virtues which causes one to grasp the beauty and attraction of right dispositions towards goodness;

- a catechesis of the Christian virtues of faith, hope, and charity, generously inspired by the example of the saints;

- a catechesis of the twofold commandment of charity set forth in the Decalogue;

- an ecclesial catechesis, for it is through the manifold exchanges of "spiritual goods" in the "communion of saints" that Christian life can grow, develop, and be communicated.

1698 The first and last point of reference of this catechesis will always be Jesus Christ himself, who is "the way, and the truth, and the life."24 It is by looking to him in faith that Christ's faithful can hope that he himself fulfills his promises in them, and that, by loving him with the same love with which he has loved them, they may perform works in keeping with their dignity:

QuoteI ask you to consider that our Lord Jesus Christ is your true head, and that you are one of his members. He belongs to you as the head belongs to its members; all that is his is yours: his spirit, his heart, his body and soul, and all his faculties. You must make use of all these as of your own, to serve, praise, love, and glorify God. You belong to him, as members belong to their head. And so he longs for you to use all that is in you, as if it were his own, for the service and glory of the Father.25
For to me, to live is Christ.26

GOSPEL

As Jesus was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a sizable crowd,
Bartimaeus, a blind man, the son of Timaeus,
sat by the roadside begging.
On hearing that it was Jesus of Nazareth,
he began to cry out and say,
"Jesus, son of David, have pity on me."
And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent.
But he kept calling out all the more,
"Son of David, have pity on me."
Jesus stopped and said, "Call him."
So they called the blind man, saying to him,
"Take courage; get up, Jesus is calling you."
He threw aside his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus.
Jesus said to him in reply, "What do you want me to do for you?"
The blind man replied to him, "Master, I want to see."
Jesus told him, "Go your way; your faith has saved you."
Immediately he received his sight
and followed him on the way.

Hi Jenneth,

That's what I want to read and thats the kind of spirit I know you have! Jenneth, my dear friend, no matter where you go in life, there will always be an a$$hole waiting for you, its just a fact of life. Even for me, wherever I go, I always tend to encounter some people who have some kind of vendetta to counter me -- and I mean -- very negative sila kaayo. But you know what, that does not stop me, you see, the moment you change yourself or your will and allow it to be altered in a way that it is unlike you -- to suit their agenda, then they win. Trust me, I've met some hardcore a$$holes. The greatest advice I can give you, my dear friend, is to learn to filter out their negativity if ever it reaches you. That's what I do. In fact, I also recommend you to pray for them -- you see prayer works incredibly. Its effects may not be immediate, but, over time, trust me, it works out to your benefit. Or as a priest friend of mine said, "prayer will even move the hardest of hearts." Changing your number is a good idea as well, so long as you find clarity these coming days and try not to care about what others have to say about you. It's never about what "they" think, my dear, its all about what you have to do, the importance is your health, your ambitions and goals, your goal in life.

I'm doing fine, my dear. Thanks for asking. Just getting ready for another day at work. You know. SSDD (same shitt different day). ;)

Hey, keep on smiling alright? If anyone messes with you, just tell me. SumbonG nato sa Ginoo. :)

Keep on smiling, keep on thinking positive, may God Bless you!

Always,
Bran

Colossians tells us,

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

Graduation ceremony today was good today. Something about formal ceremonies...it really makes me nervous. The conferment of academic honors was pleasing to me -- all the hard hours on writing graduate papers and attending lectures -- culminated in this event. Graduating from a very rigorous medical program / graduate program magna cum laud was -- in all honesty -- very stressful. It feels good to be finished.

Then comes the realization that I have post-doctoral research to continue on with and then my Ph.D coursework in full swing this coming semester. I extend sincere gratitude to God for guiding me and comforting me during the long hours of study -- invigorating me when i needed it, I also give thanks to my parents and my family for pushing me and encouraging this feeble brain.

The confidence that I have comes from God...the source of justification through all my work, and the inspiration. In this life we come through rigorous tests, challenges and hurdles. Trust in God , who will light your way and provide the sanctification, justification and spiritual graces that will nourish you in all your ways. I testify to this.

May God Bless all of us and I ask for spiritual blessings in my future endeavors.
Through Christ Our Lord.
Amen.
