12. If the Pope himself would give you a special invitation to visit him in the Vatican, this honor would be nothing in comparison to the honor and dignity that Jesus himself bestows upon you with the invitation of spending one hour with him in the Blessed Sacrament.
"The divine Eucharist bestows upon the Christian people the incomparable dignity." (Pope Paul VI, Mysterium Fidei)
#9202
11. With transforming mercy, Jesus makes our heart one with his.
"He proposes his own example to those who come to him, that all may learn to be like himself, gentle and humble of heart, and to seek not their own interest but those of God." (Pope Paul VI, Mysterium Fidei)
#9203
10. If Jesus were actually visible in church, everyone would run to welcome him, but he remains hidden in the Sacred Host under the appearance of bread, because he is calling us to faith, that we many come to him in humility.
"The Blessed Sacrament is the ‘Living Heart’ of each of our churches and it is our very sweet duty to honor and adore the Blessed Host, which our eyes see, the Incarnate Word, whom they cannot see." (Pope Paul VI, Credo of the People of God)
#9204
9. Just as you can’t be exposed to the sun without receiving its rays, neither can you come to Jesus exposed in the Blessed Sacrament without receiving the divine rays of his grace, his love, his peace.
"Christ is truly the Emmanuel, that is, God with us, day and night, he is in our midst. He dwells with us full of grace and truth. He restores morality, nourishes virtue, consoles the afflicted, strengthens the weak." (Pope Paul VI, Mysterium Fidei)
#9205
8. The best time you spend on earth is with Jesus, your Best Friend, in the Blessed Sacrament!
"How great is the value of conversation with Christ in the Blessed Sacrament, for there is nothing more consoling on earth, nothing more efficacious for advancing along the road of holiness!" (Pope Paul VI, Mysterium Fidei)
#9206
7. You grow spiritually with each moment you spend with Jesus!
"Our essential commitment in life is to preserve and advance constantly in Eucharistic life and Eucharistic piety and to grow spiritually in the climate of the Holy Eucharist." (Pope John Paul II, Redeemer of Man)
#9207
6. Jesus wants you to do more than to go to mass on Sunday.
"Our communal worship at mass must go together with our personal worship of Jesus in Eucharistic adoration in order that our love may be complete." (Pope John Paul II, Redeemer of Man)
#9208
5. Day and night Jesus dwells in the Blessed Sacrament because you are the most important person in the world to him!
"Christ is reserved in our churches as the spiritual center of the heart of the community, the universal Church and all humanity, since within the veil of the species, Christ is contained, the invisible heart of the Church, the Redeemer of the world, the center of all hearts, by him all things are and of whom we exist." (Pope Paul IV, Mysterium Fidei)
#9209
4. Your hour with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament will repair for evils of the world and bring about peace on earth.
"Let us be generous with our time in going to meet Jesus and ready to make reparation for the great evils of the world. Let your adoration never cease." (Pope John Paul II, Dominicai Cenae)
#9210
3. Jesus is counting on you because the Eucharist is the center of life.
"Every member of the Church must be vigilant in seeing that the sacrament of love shall be at the center of the life of the people of God so that through all the manifestations of worship due him shall be given back ‘love for love’ and truly become the life of our souls." (Pope John Paul II, Redeemer of Man)
#9211
2. This is a personal invitation to you from Jesus.
"Jesus waits for us in this sacrament of love." (Pope John Paul II, Dominicae Canae)
#9212
1. You are greatly needed!
"The Church and the world have a great need of eucharistic adoration." (Pope John Paul II, Dominicae Cenae)

I can't help but stare into the face of your cousin, Jenneth. He seemed like a good , kind hearted boy. He was taken young, but know that everything happens according to His purpose. God always has a plan and a reason for the things that happen. We have to entrust our faith to Him. Know that and be comforted in knowing that.

Death is never the end. For those who die in Christ, it is but the entrance into life everlasting.

Know that, and be comforted in that...my friend.

Hehehe! how cute! My lolo mariano took my lola and lola's 3 other siblings back to China (sa guangdong) in the 1930s. They lived there for almost 5 years daw. Ning balik sila tanan sa Bohol because ang asawa ni Lolo Mariano, ahoang great grandmother gimingaw sa Valencia. That is why , in the words of Dr. Plinio Lim, a former mayor of Valencia and a good friend of my grand mother, "When your Lola Nating came back to Valencia, she did not even know how to speak in Bisaya. Interesting gayod ang times noh? It shows us that we all are immigrants in our own ways. When Lolo Mariano left China for Philippies, he gave up his old identity and assimilated into the host society in Philippines. By moving to the United States, I feel like I am doing the same thing as my Lolo Mariano. Immigrant nature gayod.

Tho I ever knew him or met him personally, I feel close to him in knowing that we both chose to go abroad ...in search of a better future!

Poems and Poets / It is Hard
November 08, 2012, 12:05:40 PM
by Janice Jentzsch

It is hard
To raise my hands
That feel too heavy
For the journey
Heavenward,
And songs that thunder
From the hearts
Of others
Rake against my soul
Like knives of ice.
It is hard
To laugh,
When all my uncried
Tears are waiting
Just behind my smile.
It is hard
To come here
To this holy place
Where God's people
Would love me
If they could..
It's so hard
When my feet
Would rather flee
The Presence
Than to dance.
It's so hard
To confront the pain
And wrest it from
The stone filled tomb
Within my being,
And let the healing
Overcome
The darkness there.
But I would rather
Face this hardness;
Feel the chipping
Of my character;
The breaking
Of my heart,
And know that
I am safe
Within God's hands
Where NOTHING
Is too hard.

Poems and Poets / Silent Whispers
November 08, 2012, 11:56:45 AM
by: Kenneth Flaherty

God speaks in silent whispers of the heart.
I hear His quiet words with wondrous ease.
I sing of a lost soul that's torn apart.
That wallows on the Earth with Sun and Seas.

We hear each others laughter in my rest.
I swim in salty waters when I wake.
I know the joy and pain is just a test.
A taunting teasing test that I must take.

I hear soft silent whispers in my dreams.
Voices from steep mountains and quiet streams.
Because life isn't always what it seems.
Truth lies in soft whispers in silent dreams.

My spirit spins in circles by your breath.
I'm bound between a rock and a far place.
The truth is that in life I see my death
And in my death I'll live to see your face.

Until that joyous day we live as one
I'll listen to the hints I hear at rest.
Until my waking hours become done
I'll follow all these hints to pass my test.

I hear soft silent whispers in my dreams.
Voices from steep mountains and quiet streams.
Because life isn't always what it seems.
Truth lies in soft whispers in silent dreams.

Poems and Poets / DENIAL
November 08, 2012, 11:52:21 AM
Thus Jesus: “Strike the shepherd, by and by
The sheep will also scatter.”
Yet Peter vowed: “Though all desert you, I
Will never flee, no matter
If I die.”

Three times they later pricked him with the goad
“You too were of his clan!”
Three times the hidden face of weakness showed:
“I do not know the man!”--
A cock then crowed.

Three times the Risen asked his crumbled Rock:
“But do you love me too?”
Three times the one with keys to Heaven's lock
Said: “Lord, you know I do!”
“Then feed my flock!”

How often we've denied you, Lord, as well--
A thousand times at least!
But may we rise like Peter, when he fell,
To find a love increased
That none can quell!

I would like to offer you some words of comfort, Jenneth, my dear friend. In this journey we call life, we meet many good friends, many family members. We , through the Grace of Our Lord, experience what it feels to love, to lose, to hope, and to believe. Tho our loved ones leave us , know that they do not disappear. Tho the body is lifeless, the spirit, which is eternal, returns to the maker. The journey continues on even after this earthly pilgrimage.

A Litany for the Dead

Let us pray for those who have passed through the gates of death
and await God's abundant mercy:

For those who died from sickness, disease or addiction,
For those who died in fire, floods or natural disasters,
For those who died from hunger, thirst or malnutrition, we pray:
Be merciful, O Lord, and take them to yourself.

For those who died slowly, painfully or from prolonged illness,
For those who died in shame or guilt,
For those who died in poverty-stricken or dehumanizing conditions, we pray:
Be merciful, O Lord, and take them to yourself.

For those who died suddenly or unexpectedly,
For those who died by violence, abuse or neglect,
For those who died at the hands of loved ones, we pray:
Be merciful, O Lord, and take them to yourself.

For those who died in times of war,
For those who died in acts of terrorism,
For those who died by execution, we pray:
Be merciful, O Lord, and take them to yourself.

For those who died at birth,
For those who died in the womb and by abortion,
For those who died prematurely in their youth, we pray:
Be merciful, O Lord, and take them to yourself.

For those who died by suicide, in despair or without hope,
For those who died unreconciled with another or family, with the church or with God,
For those who died alone or unloved, unmourned or forgotten, we pray:
Be merciful, O Lord, and take them to yourself.

For those who died in sorrow or regret,
For those who died amidst broken promises and unfulfilled dreams,
For those who died in accidental or tragic circumstances, we pray:
Be merciful, O Lord, and take them to yourself.

For those who died as innocent victims,
For those who died for the sake of others,
For those who died defending life and protecting the innocent, we pray:
Be merciful, O Lord, and take them to yourself.

For those who died in witness to the truth and justice,
For those who died in witness to faith, hope and love,
For those who died peacefully surrounded by family and friends, we pray:
Be merciful, O Lord, and take them to yourself.

For those who died prayerfully in the hope of rising again,
For those who died fortified by the Sacraments of the Church and nourished by the Bread of Life,
For those who have died from our family or from among our friends, especially… we pray:
Be merciful, O Lord, and take them to yourself.

Let us pray.
To you, O God, the dead do not die, in death our life is changed, not ended. Hear our prayers and command the souls of our servants to dwell with Abraham and Sarah, your friends, and be raised at last on the great day of judgment. In your mercy cleanse them of any sin which they may have committed through human frailty. We ask this through Christ, our Risen Lord. Amen.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord.
And let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace.
Amen.
May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen.

You're most welcome, Isles. In 2007, I had a hard time in choosing which path I should take. From sophomore year in college till the last year, I was part of the Newman Catholic Association in college and took weekly prayer retreats to Erie, Pennsylvania at the diocesan center. You see, I was seriously considering entering St. Mary's Catholic Seminary after college. I was seriously considering the vocation of royal priesthood. I was torn between the professional and family expectation of going into medicine and the internal drive within me to consider the priesthood. I was unable to sleep for many, many nights. Until I talked to my spiritual director, Fr. Jim H, who counseled me to pray for spiritual discernment. He introduced to me this litany for internal peace. I prayed for discernment and within a couple of weeks, my prayers were answered by the Holy Spirit.

I chose medicine.

My dear Jenneth,

Please accept my deepest and sincere condolences for the loss of your cousin Jovanie. My prayers are with you and your family.

Absolve, we beseech Thee, O Lord,
the soul of Thy servant Jovanie,
from every bond of sin,

Sex During Pregnancy: Is It Safe?

Reviewed by Louise Chang, MD

Sex during pregnancy is the absolute last thing on some women’s minds, especially when they are dealing with nausea, vomiting, and overwhelming fatigue. Other women, however, may crave sex in pregnancy. And men, too, are split into different camps regarding sex during pregnancy. Some men may find nothing sexier than a pregnant woman, but other men may be too afraid of hurting the baby or their pregnant partner to enjoy sex.

But desire aside, is sex during pregnancy even safe?

The good news -- or bad news, depending on how you look at it -- is that “sex during pregnancy is extremely safe for most women with uncomplicated, low-risk pregnancies,” says Dayna Salasche, MD, an associate professor of obstetrics/gynecology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and an obstetrician at Northwestern Specialists for Women, both in Chicago. “Some people feel like they enjoy sex during pregnancy more and others enjoy it less,” she tells WebMD.

During the first trimester, many women report no great desire for sex because they feel tired and nauseous, but during the second trimester, “they are feeling better, there is more lubrication, and they have engorgement in the genital area,” says Monica Foreman, MD, an obstetrician at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, N.Y. This makes sex more appealing and potentially more satisfying. What’s more, most women are still fairly comfortable during second trimester because their stomach is not overly rounded yet. This is not quite true during third trimester. As the stomach grows and fatigue returns with a vengeance, sex may seem less attractive -- not to mention physically difficult during the final weeks of pregnancy.

If the dad-to-be is nervous about having sex with his increasingly pregnant partner, “we tell them that their baby is well protected. It is an egg surrounded by a pillow and another pillow and that there is no way they will hurt the baby, and that usually makes them feel much better,” Salasche says.

Whether or not having sex close to your due date during third trimester can bring on labor is an old wives’ tale, but having an orgasm causes the release of prostaglandins, which can theoretically cause contractions.

“At 40 weeks, this can’t hurt,” Foreman says.

“As she grows, the traditional man-on-top position is more uncomfortable for pregnant women,” Foreman says. Other, more comfortable sexual positions during pregnancy may include intercourse from behind or side-to-side (spooning).

And “at some point, a pregnant woman should not be flat on her back because the growing uterus can compress major blood vessels,” Salasche says. This can cause pelvic pressure and pain. This phenomenon typically occurs during the third trimester. Lying flat on her back can also cause "supine hypotensive syndrome," which results in a change in heart rate and blood pressure that can lead to dizziness and other symptoms or signs.

One sexual act to avoid during pregnancy is blowing during oral sex, Foreman adds. “If oral sex is performed on the pregnant woman while blowing air into the vagina, the woman can develop an air embolus, which can travel to the lung and have potentially fatal consequences.”

Mr. Daray,

I read a medical report several days ago that pregnant women have a higher than normal libido. There is a correlative index that shows the high libido being associated with the increase in progesterone. 8)

One of my colleagues in the hospital presented similar findings at a medical case report couple of days ago. Interesting pod baya.

It was a Obstetrics/ Gynecology-based report. Normally I'm not keen on anything OB/GYN related as I'm more inclined to surgical cases, but this one happened to strike my fancy.

Nong,

I'll read over this today. Today, I just talked to my good friend Georgi, who is a financial analyst at a very prominent hedge fund in Boston, and was counseled on starting my own Roth IRA. One of the good things kono about Roth IRA is that we can transfer over our 401K to an IRA account. The positive growth index on these is worth the investment. He is currently also trying to give me tips on blue chips.

I'm learning as we go along , particularly in the world of stocks and bonds. Perhaps we can exchange contact, Nong, this way we can network pod. Please know that there are many of us here in TB that are trying to find out/ discover the intricacies of investment. Know that we appreciate your input and your advice.

Thank You!

Sincerely,
Bran

Question and Answer / Re: How do you relieve your stress
November 07, 2012, 02:42:49 AM
For women, it is normal, also, to masturbate to experience orgasm. Women, unlike men, experience two types of orgasms: clitoral and vaginal. The benefits of sexual stimulation promotes a health mental state as well as physical state as it has a quantitative and qualitative effect on stress reduction. There have been recent studies that support the premise that sexual activity positively increases immune health.

      :P

As i always tell my patients, Bai Piks, it is perfectly normal for a man to masturbate! It is a physiological need and the effects can release stress-related tension. If they happen to enjoy the therapeutic effects then, why not! Padayon.

Regular masturbation stimulates a man's sertoli and leydig cells to increase spermiogenesis. It actually promotes male fertility!

"You may not be her first, her last, or her only. She loved before she may love again. But if she loves you now, what else matters? She's not perfect - you aren't either, and the two of you may never be perfect together but if she can make you laugh, cause you to think twice, and admit to being human and making mistakes, hold onto her and give her the most you can. She may not be thinking about you every second of the day, but she will give you a part of her that she knows you can break - her heart. So don't hurt her, don't change her, don't analyze and don't expect more than she can give. Smile when she makes you happy, let her know when she makes you mad, and miss her when she's not there."

Love Talk / Re: How do we fall in love?
November 07, 2012, 01:54:03 AM
The word love is quite interesting isn't it? In that regard, the very feeling that one experiences while being in this mental, physical state, and spiritual state is rather unequivocal. Many men cannot even conjure the exact words to describe it. For me, it remains enigmatically profound.

The presence of love can inflate one's mental and spiritual senses, the sudden absence of it results in injury that only time can heal. :'(

General Topic / Re: Table Manners in China
November 06, 2012, 02:13:38 PM
Quote from: jorgeanna on November 05, 2012, 09:49:34 PM
Talking about eating habit, unlike the West, where everyone has their own plate of food, inChinathe dishes are placed on the table and everybody shares. If you are being treated by a Chinese host, be prepared for a ton of food. Chinese are very proud of their culture of cuisine and will do their best to show their hospitality.

And sometimes the host will serve some dishes with his or her own chopsticks to guests to show his or her hospitality. This is a sign of politeness. The appropriate thing to do would be to eat the whatever-it-is and say how yummy it is. If you feel uncomfortable with this, you can just say a polite "thank you" and leave the food there. There are some other rules that are suggested you follow to make your stay in China happier, though you will be forgiven if you have no idea of what they are.

1. Never stick your chopsticks upright in the rice bowl, lay them on your dish instead. Otherwise, it is deemed extremely impolite to the host and seniors present. The reason for this is that when somebody dies, the shrine to them contains a bowl of sand or rice with two sticks of incense stuck upright in it. So if you stick your chopsticks in the rice bowl, it looks like the shrine and is equivalent to wishing death upon a person at the table.

2. Make sure the spout of the teapot is not facing anyone. It is impolite to set the teapot down where the spout is facing towards somebody. The spout should always be directed to where nobody is sitting, usually just outward from the table.

3. Don't tap on your bowl with your chopsticks, since that will be deemed insult to the host or the chef. Beggars tap on their bowls, and also, when the food is coming too slow in a restaurant, people will tap their bowls. If you are in someone's home, it is like insulting the host or the cook.

4. Never try to turn a fish over and debone it yourself, since the separation of the fish skeleton from the lower half of the flesh will usually be performed by the host or a waiter. Superstitious people deem bad luck will ensue and a fishing boat will capsize if you do so. This is especially true to southerners inChina(to be specific, such asGuangdong, Guangxi andFujianprovinces, etc.), since, traditionally, southerners are the fishing population.

there is nothing wrong and risky if the woman is pregnant. she can be jer-jered up to 8-month pregnant. there are special positions suitable for pregnant women so that the woman's belly won't be pressed hard.

google "safe sex while pregnant" to enlighten anyone about this topic.

That's right, Mike. Sexual intercourse during pregnancy is necessary.

I've heard of couples having sex during the woman's menstrual cycles (during heavy flow) as it reduces the pain kono. Pero having sex when the woman's pregnant? Wow. Experimental zamo lagi...
