Hahaha!
My medical director jokes with me. He says that I look like a 'surgeon-type' kono. "You're not gonna be another know-it-all Filipino Surgeon are you?" he joked one time. I smirked.
LOL!!

. My nephrologist is another Pinoy. My anesthesiologist is another Tagalog. We played golf together (when I used to play). I'm a die-hard Pinoy patient. I hope I remain "die-hard" not dead. Bwahahaha

the numbers, fr chic, had actually convinced me over what i came across some years back -- that economically our country is actually punching above its reach, ala pacquiao against margarito.
that article was written by a british writer who showed that the philippines is in reality doing much better than what others perceive. sometimes, though, we ourselves are fond of self-flagellation that we'd rather concentrate on the pain rather than on the redemption of healing by achieving.
The ones back home are the resilient type... mainly.

we can dream.
there wouldn't have been a divisive issue over a potential law if the legislator who came up with the bright idea of passing into law his proposed reproductive health bill (RH Bill) had instead come up with a proposal to pass into law a political health bill (PH Bill) or government health bill (GH Bill). basically, this dream bill would have provisions on how our political leaders and government functionaries can take steps to correct, police, and punish themselves for corruption.
impossible? of course. that's why it's a dream bill.![]()

yeheee! this is what i have believed in all along... having been born and being thankfully alive today do not give me the privilege to decide on who else will be born or not. otherwise, what's the use of believing in a higher power?
aren't some of us here at tb from big families? aren't we thankful that despite everything, we have become what we are? do we not trust the strength of the human spirit that can tackle all challenges?
why should the solutions to economic problems involve the control of births and lives when it has been said many times over that the solution lies in political will that could lead to the equitable distribution of resources?

Quote from: islander on November 17, 2010, 01:10:53 PM
the scene that you have described is repeated many times over in our country in particular and in the third world in general. it is as real as you and i are real.
these days, in our country, it's the difference between responsible parenthood and artificial birth control that's the issue. if a couple doesn't want more mouths to feed and they feel that more mouths don't necessarily mean more hands that work, then fine. no one can tell them otherwise. but they should opt for natural birth control.
kay di man diay kaya, pugong sa panahon sa tingpugong. mora na man hinoon ug iresponsable nga gusto rag palami pero di modawat sa responsibilidad nga mao unyay resulta sa palami.
for every sad economic story of big families that are bursting at the seams, there's also a story of big families who have conquered the odds.
naa koy kaila nga 13 sila nga anak. marginal fisherman ang amahan, housewife and inahan. each child was precious to the parents. puro nakahuman ug college tanan. unbelievable. giunsa nila pag-invest ug education? kada naay mahuman, mogasto dayon sa sunod manghod. kay puro kugihan, hamugaway na ron silang tanan.
they did not rue the day their parents chose to let them live, they did not blame each other for being born. rather, they looked at themselves as assets that worked for their mutual gains.

). Pero mao nay outlook, supposedly, sa mga ni profess the Christian faith... while many ask, "Am I my brothers' keepers?" Mao nay dilemna sa mga ni claim ug Christian faith... kutob ra jod sa ngan (nominal Christians), while the one whom they professed to follow (maski Bible pay pasultion) says otherwise.

I have a mixed feelings about population control. Abortion is a great No..No to me, but I am leaning on the positive side of contraceptives.
Back to China, according to google, its population is 20% world's total. That means 1 every 5 people is a resident of China. Whewwww!!!!

Sorry for this very late update, currently porting all content, blogs and links to the new site at boholinteractive.tumblr.com
Main reason for the transfer is because it's much easier to post especially via mobile (which I'm mostly am). Submissions page is also a breeze. You can also follow @bolanons on Twitter.

Actual incident:
July 27, 2010. Cebu.
There was an incident where i overheard a cebuano talking down on bohol. The incident was in a restaurant where one customer (that we were with) was asking about the crispy pata and lechon being served. The waitor (normally, waitor is supposed to treat a customer with respect), was describing. The person who i was with said, "oh naa diay mo ug crispy pata? the last time i had one was in bohol, an it was great". The waitor responded, "yes ma'am, but the crispy pata here in cebu is better than in bohol, bohol is probinsya ...."
i really had to hold my tongue in that event. how very crass. is it so common for cebuanos to talk down and belittle bohol?
