Belated Christmas carol:

Kasadya ning taknaa
Dapit sa among kusina
Mao ra'y among nakita
Ang biko nga naas kawa
Bulahan o bulahan
Ang balay'ng among gikan-an
Awit nga halandumon
Aron karong pasko
Makakaon

Hi GEC,

Can't help but think we're kindred souls. Imagine the elusive GEC answering right next to my post! And to this, let's toast a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon each. OK ka lang? Actually, I am more lucid, write better and read more Japanese characters after a bottle of red wine...

Mangontrata na lang tag mag-drive pauli.

By the way, you got my real nickname, and spelled it right, "Benny." Is this random guess or sleuth job?

Ahh... it was a lucky guess moved by the spirit of red ;D

Hi GEC,

I'll buzz you when I'm in town and let's toast to Cabernet Sauvignon, my favorite, and reportedly the most salutary of red wines.

As long as you show up in human form, we can drink spirit.

Okay, Benny ;)  In that case...

A glass of wine each or an entire bottle we must consume?
I need to develop my threshold or who will drive me home?

Gikasubo ko pag-ayo
Nga wala maka-adto
Sa EB sa Desiyembre
Nga giplano pa's Oktobre

Nawala ako sa passing
Kay natuk-an ko sa saging
Walay dilao nga ribboneta
Nga gibangan ni Melrose sa acacia

Busa pasensiya na lang
Kon sa EB ako nakulang
Tingali nagkagulang

Pareho'g gidak-on ug timbang silang duha.

Sa akong pangagpas,
Ang mga bola ni D.I. nagpikas.

Kay kon parehas pa sila sa gidakon
DAKOG MGA ITLOG unta kon tawgon!

When was the last time I was here?

It seems like coming home after having been away for 20 years. The old and familiar names are a welcome sight. And new names are flourishing, cheerful and bright.

There are many things that I missed in life. Among them was to be online at the turn of the new year... or even last Christmas. As i feared, work got in the way. And an untimely emotional ebb tide quenched the sunshine for a moment.

I've heard about the eyeball in Bohol... from the pictures posted here, everyone really had a grand time. I am happy for all of you.

And I'm sure it's never too late late to greet all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

Ma busy si Balong kay, actually, large-scale ninh iyang kalingawan.

Ang iyang pag garden og vegetables is actually sa green house niya e cultivate -- climate controlled and year round ang harvest.

- LCD flat screen monitor mounted on the ceiling
- specialized qwerty keyboard where the keys for the left hand and the keys for the right are separately installed aron bisan maghigda ang imong mga kamot by your side, you can still type.

Or, go get the new voice-activated PCs; or, kadtong magamit bisan gamiton lang ang eye movement.

i have just finished reading Anne of Green Gables, mkatakod c anne... i've seen the japanese animation when i was in elementary but was not able to see the whole series mao to nangita ko sa internet, try checking out "www.gutenberg.org" for more classic pieces...

I've seen the video of "Anne of Green Gables" and some of the rest of the series.  But my favorite is "Anne of Green Gables."

Ann, in this story, was still so young and yet so witty.  I really enjoyed listening to her lines (or reading it, if I had the book version).

#952

Here's another interesting tidbit:

The whole script was written and known by God even before He created anything at all... He wrote the scenes, chose the cast, built the props, designed the stage, composed the musical score, etc. He did this to please Himself... for His own glory.

I don't think Lucifer was ever a seraph, the highest order of angels with six wings. At the time of his fall, he was a cherub (four wings) as the account in Ezekiel shows. Since Lucifer occupied the highest position before his fall, Michael was probably a cherub as well.

After Lucifer's fall, Michael and the other senior angels (Gabriel and others) were promoted to become seraphims.

Lucifer is stuck with his four wings. But despite his fall, he continues to look handsome and charismatic. That's why throughout the ages he continues to deceive many.

Thanks for the info, GEC. They're still falling over themselves to catch you, but I've framed you here in this thread, so I consider this lucky.

I hope you could get more specific info on the technical and cost requirements to have 10 IPphones installed. We are thinking here of a modest operation, which can be adjusted upward depending on the improvement of BB capacity as well as the market response.

I simply have the gut sense that a call center manned by Visayan telemarketers, serving a mostly Visayan-speaking market, will do well in Tagbilaran.

And of course, since our name is "global", that's only to kick off our foray into other markets...

Ok, benny.

I'll snoop around and eavesdrop on their conversation ;D   Feed you more info as they come.

C yah around.

#967

Very interesting topic.

Call center based in Tagbilaran -- the government still needs to put in place the digital/broadband backbone to meet the technical requirements. I heard PLDT is one of those considered to install this. Globelines broadband is here but we are not sure this is already sufficient.

Travel & Tours -- To be accredited with DOT, the minimum capital investment is P500,000.00.

Is this about the love "quadrangle" in Tubag Bohol? Is this why we don't read their posts anymore? That now only one remains among them?

I tried not to give it much thought before -- the hints in the messages posted -- because I was still a newbie way back then. I have been asking where are they now but no clear answers were given. Now, looking on hind sight, I can't help but speculate for the reasons.

But then, my speculation could be wrong.

And then, who knows they continue to post messages here under new usernames and new styles of writing ... or they just continue to browse, smiling, amused, and proud of this site which they once helped mold to have its present character and feel.

Now Men.... Men are like a fine wine. They begin as grapes, and it's up to Women to stomp the heck out of them until they turn into something acceptable to have dinner with.

In the film "A Walk in the Clouds" starring Keanu Reeves, only married women were allowed to press the grapes (with their feet) in order to produce the best wine.

In another film (I think it was "The Curse of the Pink Panther" starring Peter O'toole as the bumbling Inspector Clousseau [late 70s or early 80s film]), the women who pressed the grapes were virgins and they did it giggling and without any clothes on.

Women are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. Most men don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt.

This is precisely why many single lady lawyers have trouble getting married. Men are afraid to court them because they are afraid they may be inadequate.

Was it the Twilight Zone???

Not Twilight Zone...

That crunching sound, as the story later on revealed, were made by hundreds of black, hairy, ball-like entities (almost like hairy stuffed-toys) with a really big mouth and razor sharp teeth, eating everything in their path... everything... as in even not only objects but the the present time itself and turning everything into black and nothingness.

These hairy monsters are based on a nursery rhyme that parents say to kids so that they will not be lazy.

I once read Stephen King's "Pet Semetery". I could not finish the last two chapters. Since then, no more of King readings for me. I just wait for the movie version ;D

And there's this film version of King's novel which I saw in television years ago. I couldn't remember the title but it was about a group of airplane passengers who discovered that the world has changed when they landed at the airport. Far from the distance a strange, crunching sound could be heard as if it was like eating something. And the sound got nearer and nearer.
I enjoyed the show a lot.

Blast blamed on Akbar's rivals

The blast that ripped through the south wing of the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City Tuesday night is the handiwork of political opponents of Basilan Rep. Wahab Akbar and his family.

This was the statement issued by the Basilan provincial government hours following the explosion Tuesday night. Akbar died at the hosptial after being severly injured in the blast.

Cris Puno, Basilan's provincial information officer, said that the explosion was meant to kill Akbar.

Puno said that it was a move of Akbar’s opponents to grab power in Isabela City, Basilan and in the entire province.

Puno added that "enemies of Akbar" are working hard for him to be out of power because they cannot accept that he holds power in Basilan.

Akbar's first wife, Jum, is the governor of Basilan while his other spouse, Cherilyn is the mayor of Isabela City.

Puno declined to name the perpetrators of the blast.

In a related development, Negros Oriental Rep. Henry Teves is in critical condition after sustaining severe blast injuries and burns following the explosion.

Those who were rushed to General Malvar Hospital on Commonwealth Avenue were identified as Gabriela Rep. Luz Ilagan, who sustained shrapnel wounds to the legs and back; Ismael Lim, driver of Gabriela Rep. Liza Maza; Kim Ar, bodyguard of Akbar; and Maan Abustanilo, a staff of Teves.

Teves has been transferred to St. Luke’s Medical Center where his relatives, including his grandfather, former congressman Herminio Teves, and his uncle, Finance Secretary Margarito Teves, rushed to be with him.

Teves's relatives refused to issue a comment as of this posting.

Metro Manila under red alert
Metro Manila has been placed on full red alert after the explosion.

National Capital Regional Police chief Geary Barias ordered check points around the metropolis. Police are also coordinating with the Armed Forces of the Philippines for the security clampdown.

Bombing well-timed
Bayan Muna Rep. Teddy Casiño said the bombing "well-timed."

“If it was a bomb, it was very well timed. The session has just ended and congressmen were making a beeline to the exit into their cars.   If someone was to set up a bomb at that place that was the right time," Casino said.

Philippine National Police chief Avelino Razon said one fatality, who was identified later as Ilagan's driver Marcial Talbo, was found inside the Toyota
Hi-Ace van parked in front the building’s south wing.

He added that four vehicles were damaged by the blast.

“Ito po ay iyong kay Congressman Akbar, Congresswoman Ilagan at Congressman Teves ng Negros. Dini-determine pa naming kung sino ang may-ari ng pang-apat the sasakyan (These are those owned by Congressman Akbar, Congresswoman Ilagan at Congressman Teves of Negros. We are still determining who owns the fourth vehicle),” said Razon.

Politicians condemn bombing
Several lawmakers, meanwhile, have condemned the “bombing.”

Speaker Jose de Venecia said the explosion "is a work of an anarchist, a terrorist.”

He added that the “bombing” was intended to threaten the House of Representatives.

“Certainly hindi ito granada. Siguradong sinadya para takutin ang Kongreso para wala nang session (This is certainly not caused by a grenade. This was done to scare Congress so that there will be no session),” said de Venecia.

He added that Congress is now conducting a full scale investigation together with the Philippine National Police.

“There will be a clean sweep tonight to make sure that there is no bomb left in the premises. We will hold sessions tomorrow, unless the PNP says otherwise,” said de Venecia.

For his part, Sen. Aquilino Pimentel urged the administration to hunt down the perpetrators of the blast.

"To restore confidence of the people, [the] administration must identify, arrest and prosecute those responsible for the bomb explosion in Batasan,” Pimentel said.

Pimentel also warmed President Arroyo from declaring martial law.

“PGMA (Mrs. Arroyo) must be warned versus doing a Musharraf or else [there will be] more problems ahead,” he said.

Akbayan Rep. Risa Hontiveros-Baraquel  said the attack is an appalling attempt to destroy “life, freedom and democracy.”

"Nothing can rationalize this act. We urge the authorities to immediately investigate the incident and go after the perpetrators of the bombing… It is meant to injure and scare members of Congress, especially since it was timed immediately after the adjournment of the session,” she said.

Akbar dies, Teves in critical condition

Basilan Rep. Wahab Akbar passed away following the blast  that took place at the Batasan Pambansa Complex Tuesday night in Quezon City.

Dr. Mike Hernandez, attending physician at the New Era General Hospital said that Teves’s condition is critical. He said the lawmaker sustained burns on the face and blast injuries to the body. His aide, Denis Manila, is now in stable condition at the hospital.

ABS-CBN News correspondent Niko Baua reported that another victim identified as Larry Noda, 34, an administrative aide of the Philippine Broadcasting System, suffered burns on the head and face. He is now in stable condition at East Avenue Medical Center.

Additional reports, meanwhile, said three other victims were taken to the Philippine Heart Center.
