My major mistake, I was too afraid to move to Manila to study in UP when I passed the UPCAT to take up Liberal Arts then proceeed to Law. Instead, I opted to study Agriculture major in Plant Breeding and Genetics because the school is within my comfort zone. Now, I am killing myself working so I can be in a law school. I wasted once in a lifetime opportunity to follow what my heart desires.

It is not too late, I believe, but darn I wasted years.

I am bias here because I have been to a difficult marriage situation. I could not imagine without divorce in the US I will be stuck to a life like that. I am pro of course.

But, it must be a divorce system that serves the best interests of all people. That means, anybody can file regardless of economic status. In our state we have here the so called family court where you can go and ask for divorce counseling without spending too much.

I guarantee in the rural areas, there are more troubled marriages than in the cities because of the prevalence of domestic violence. I just wish this will serve the silent majority.

As to the division of assets, just what they said as "gold digger's" scheme, then go for pre-nuptial agreement. There is no sense to be tied for a piece of paper when 2 people cannot live together as spouses.

Yes, life in the US is harder than you can imagine. The only consolation is that, there are ways to survive through government programs like welfare, disability for those that cannot work and unemployment. Or when you are really broke, you can file for bankruptcy.

However, some people are taking advantage of the system or know how to play with the same so they get free stuff than those that deserved it better.

I know someone who applied for disability and food stamps along with his son  on the basis of obesity. The mother was approved but the son wasn’t because he needs 10 lbs to qualify as obese. What the mother did, he fed his son with mashed potatoes and fried chicken for one month. When he reapplied, he was approved. That means $1500 monthly check for them and $200 for food stamp, now they don’t work the rest of their lives. All they have to do is to keep getting big to maintain the check. Sick!
