Without You

Where are you my love?
I need you my love
Please try to forgive
For I cannot live
No I can't go on without you

Swallow all your pride
This I beg of you
And I'll cry no more
No not like before
For I've tasted tears without you

Come back my love
I know I was wrong
And now I pray
That I can be strong

Run to me my love

Fill my empty arms
Come as close as you can
For though I'm a man
I'm just a child without you

Come back my love
I know I was wrong
And now I pray
That I can be strong

Run to me my love
Fill my empty arms
Come as close as you can
For though I'm a man
I'm just a child without you

Weird and Extreme / Re: Hindu Multiverse
July 21, 2015, 03:41:54 PM
The Supreme Godhead is seen to be all-powerful in every world: “Lord Siva said: ‘My dear son, I, Lord Brahma and the other demigods, who move within this universe under the misconception of our greatness, cannot exhibit any power to compete with the Supreme Personality of Godhead, for innumerable universes and their inhabitants come into existence and are annihilated by the simple direction of the Lord.’ ” (Srimad Bhagavatam 9.4.56)

On the other hand, the Brahma Vaivarta Purana provides evidence for alternate versions of the gods themselves: “And who will search through the wide infinities of space to count the universes side by side, each containing its Brahma, its Vishnu, its Shiva? Who can count the Indras in them allâ€"those Indras side by side, who reign at once in all the innumerable worlds; those others who passed away before them; or even the Indras who succeed each other in any given line, ascending to godly kingship, one by one, and, one by one, passing away?” -- http://listverse.com/

Weird and Extreme / Hindu Multiverse
July 21, 2015, 03:41:13 PM
The modern concept of a multiverse is derived from quantum physics and string theory, and there are a variety of plausible scientific theories backing up the possibility of parallel worlds. However, the concept is much older, dating to the earliest days of Hinduism. The cosmological concepts in Hinduism are already in a position to readily comprehend and accept modern physics due to their sheer scale in time and space. Ancient Hindu philosophers measured time in millions of kalpas, or eons, each one lasting about 4,320,000 years. Time scales in the Purana texts range from the truti (1/1,000,0000 of a second) to the mahamantavara (311 trillion years).

While the full details of Hindu cosmology are too complex to do justice to here, it is clear that the Hindu scriptures were adamant about the existence of infinite worlds: “Every universe is covered by seven layersâ€"earth, water, fire, air, sky, the total energy, and false egoâ€"each ten times greater than the previous one. There are innumerable universes besides this one, and although they are unlimitedly large, they move about like atoms in You. Therefore You are called unlimited.” (Srimad Bhagavatam 6.16.37)

Thesis advises Muslims on dealing with flatulence before prayers
Published at 11:45PM, April 7 2015

A new doctoral thesis gives detailed rules that Muslims should follow if they break wind excessively before worshipping

The Arab world’s most prominent seat of Islamic learning has approved a doctoral thesis giving detailed rules that Muslims should follow if they break wind excessively before worshipping.

Al-Azhar university, in Cairo, has passed a doctorate which says that the amount of ritual washing, or purification, that takes place before prayer should vary depending on the smell and length of flatulent outbursts during the course of the day.

In Jain tradition, the svastika is a venerated emblem. Its significance is spiritual and has nothingto do with race, pride or politics. The emblem is a synopsis of the philosophy it represents. The polygon symbolizes the universe. An ancient Jain svastika glorifies four innate qualities of the soul: Infinite Knowledge, Perception, Bliss and Will Power. It also signifies the four worldly states: human, angelic, hell-being, and the category tiryaneha (which includes animals, plants and microorganisms). Three points stand for Right Worldview, Right Knowledge and Right Conduct, which together arc the path to final liberation. The lone point is a liberated, pure soul (Siddha). An upright palm admonishes man to stop sinning. The wheel contains the word AHlNSA, nonviolence. The Sanskrit edict beneath the polygon comes from the scripture Tattvartha Sutra 5:21 , declaring, “Souls support one another. ”

“Something as simple as that still needs to be attended to, even things like food. Tourists, depending on where they come from, like to try the local stuff.  Eventually, they want to have their own food as well. These are the little things that need to be attended to that we seem to have ignored,” he said.

Jainism and the divine

Jains do not believe in a God or gods in the way that many other religions do, but they do believe in divine (or at least perfect) beings who are worthy of devotion.

This makes it difficult to give a straight answer to the question "is Jainism atheistic?" The scholar Heinrich Zimmer suggested that a new word was needed: transtheistic, meaning "inaccessible by arguments as to whether or not a God exists".

God and the problem of evil

The Jain view of God enables Jainism to explain the evil and suffering that exists in the world without the intellectual difficulties faced by religions that have an omnipotent, wholly good, creator God at their heart.

Where religions such as Christianity find the problem of evil one of their toughest tests, Jains use the existence of evil as a reason for denying the existence of an omnipotent, wholly good, Creator.

Jains believe that animals and plants, as well as human beings, contain living souls. Each of these souls is considered of equal value and should be treated with respect and compassion.

Jains are strict vegetarians and live in a way that minimises their use of the world's resources.

Jains believe in reincarnation and seek to attain ultimate liberation - which means escaping the continuous cycle of birth, death and rebirth so that the immortal soul lives for ever in a state of bliss.

Liberation is achieved by eliminating all karma from the soul.

Jainism is a religion of self-help.

There are no gods or spiritual beings that will help human beings.

The three guiding principles of Jainism, the 'three jewels', are right belief, right knowledge and right conduct.

The supreme principle of Jain living is non violence (ahimsa).

This is one of the 5 mahavratas (the 5 great vows). The other mahavratas are non-attachment to possessions, not lying, not stealing, and sexual restraint (with celibacy as the ideal).

Mahavira is regarded as the man who gave Jainism its present-day form.

The texts containing the teachings of Mahavira are called the Agamas.

Jains are divided into two major sects; the Digambara (meaning "sky clad") sect and the Svetambara (meaning "white clad") sect.

Jainism has no priests. Its professional religious people are monks and nuns, who lead strict and ascetic lives.

Jainism at a glance

Jainism is an ancient religion from India that teaches that the way to liberation and bliss is to live lives of harmlessness and renunciation.

The essence of Jainism is concern for the welfare of every being in the universe and for the health of the universe itself.

Science and Research / Re: Jellyfish Lake
July 20, 2015, 06:55:32 PM

From dawn until dusk, nearly 13 million golden jellyfish (Mastigias sp.) travel from one end of the lake to the other, then back again in a daily spectacle that most of us have only seen in Finding Nemo. Why? They’re following the Sun. The golden jellyfish in these lakes have developed a symbiotic relationship with a type of zooplankton known as zooxanthellae. These algae-like critters live inside the jellyfish’s tissues and photosynthesize sunlight into energy that the jellyfish can use. So every day, starting bright and early, the swarms of jellyfish head east from the western edge of the lake to catch the first rays of sunlight, then track its arc all the way westward again. There, just beyond the shadows cast by the trees, they settle in for the night and wait for day to break once again.

Interestingly, there’s another factor in this migration, one which might have caused it in the first place. The shores of the lake are packed with white sea anemones that will happily snag a passing jellyfish, but these immobile creatures only grow in the shade. If the jellyfish stay in the light, they’re safe, but straying too close to the shadows virtually ensures a quick, brutal end. -- http://listverse.com/

Science and Research / Jellyfish Lake
July 20, 2015, 06:53:48 PM

One of the world’s most surreal marine migrations happens every single day on an uninhabited island in the South Pacific. Palau’s Jellyfish Lake is one of close to 70 similar bodies of water on the archipelago. Each of those lakes was once connected to the sea, but it’s believed that they were cut off about 12,000 years ago by changing sea levels. In these isolated pockets of water, certain species have learned to thrive by their own rules. That’s why a few of them, like Jellyfish Lake, are packed tighter than a jar of pickles with jellyfish.

Putin and Xi last year signed an agreement calling for the two countries to build pipelines to send natural gas from East and West Siberia to China. One pipeline would carry an annual 38 billion cu. meters of gas; the other would bring 30 billion cu. meters to China, which would keep buying the gas for 30 years. Putin touted the accord as a symbol of his Asia Shift policy.

But people familiar with the project say that what Russia calls its Power of Siberia plan is behind schedule. While Russia began construction on its end in last September, the work in China only began in June.

The delay on the part of China is partly attributable to Beijing's discontent with the price, which was set in May 2014, right before gas and crude oil prices began to plunge.

In addition, the deprecation of the ruble has made it difficult for Russia to procure construction equipment from U.S. and European suppliers. In March, Reuters reported that the scheduled completion of the pipeline might be put off from 2018.

Furthermore, China is in no hurry to build a pipeline from West Siberia since it can procure inexpensive gas from Turkmenistan.

Putin and Xi agreed Wednesday to "reinforce support" for the two pipelines. But few observers expect these words to push the projects along.

On another note, the Putin administration is growing wary of China's "one belt, one road" plan to expand its influence across Central Asia.

The China-led Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank will serve as the plan's driving force. This explains why Putin on June 20 stressed the importance of AIIB transparency while meeting the heads of international news agencies.

Among European countries that will participate in the AIIB, word is starting to circulate that Russia wants to form a bloc of member states with the purpose of keeping China's ambitions in check, a diplomatic source said.

TAKAYUKI TANAKA, Nikkei staff writer

MOSCOW -- While President Vladimir Putin is starting to put a little distance between Russia and China, he is also cozying up to India.

The change of course reflects not only stagnant progress in Russo-Sino projects, such as the construction of two natural gas pipelines to China, but also Russian wariness of China's advance into Central Asia.

At a summit of BRICS nations -- Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa -- that began Wednesday in the Russian city of Ufa, Putin appeared to prioritize India over China.

As the host of the summit, Putin shook hands with Chinese President Xi Jinping and smiled before photographers ahead of their meeting.

But the 50-minute powwow was less friendly than previous get-togethers; the mood even grew foul from time to time, according to a person familiar with the session.

Unlike past summits that produced agreements on major projects, this time Putin and Xi merely confirmed principles, such as the promotion of bilateral trade.

In contrast, Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked for an hour and a half, longer than scheduled. The two agreed to cooperate in nuclear power plant construction and defense technology.

Putin was even playful, saying he would like to try yoga, which originated in India and is something Modi practices.

With Russia being economically sanctioned by the U.S. and Europe due to the Ukrainian crisis, Putin has held a series of meetings with Xi to emphasize the closeness of their two countries' relations.

His delicate turn from this course is traceable to energy. Putin would have liked China to move more quickly toward Russo-Sino cooperation in this field.

1 Chimpanzees

Aside from the fact that chimpanzees look like humans, these animals also have the capacity in some ways to think like humans. They can manipulate their environment and utilize tools in order to help the community accomplish certain tasks.  By and large they are often considered to be the smartest primate and therefore one of the smartest animals in the world.
#6982
2 Pigs

According to research, a middle aged pig can be as smart as a three year old human being and they know how to adapt to complex environmental situations because they have the ability to learn new skills easily.
#6983
3 Bottlenose Dolphins

When it comes to  body mass to brain ratio, it is a scientific fact that Bottlenose dolphins have among the largest brains in the animal kingdom. Characterized by their advanced communication skills, they have also been considered to be self aware with the ability to recognize themselves in a mirror.
#6984
4 Parrots

Although their famous ability to talk is pure mimicry as most people know parrots have excellent memories and like many others on this list are capable of solving relatively complex problems.
#6985
5 Whales

Known for their massive size but not often their massive intellect whales often use complex sounds to communicate with each other and coordinate their activities among the group very effectively.  They are also formidable problem solvers.

6 Dogs

Although intelligence levels vary across breeds, in general they learn new skills easily and are quick to respond to human training.  Most breeds of dogs like Labrador Retrievers, Border Collies and Poodles aver very curious about their environment and can even notice a change in the smallest detail. Is what appears to be their high emotional intelligence however, that has probably led them to be man’s best friend.
#6990
7 Octopus

When it comes to  group of invertebrates, octopuses are known as the most intelligent. They are highly skilled hunters who use well developed strategies when finding food. And just like most of the other animals on this list they have shown the ability to solve some very complicated problems.
#6991
8 Elephants

Compared to other animals, elephants have larger brains.  Of course just because your brain is big doesn’t necessarily mean much. What matters is the proportion of body mass to brain mass but even with that said elephants are really, really smart by non human standards. These animals use their brains to create and process complex social interactions and seem to even model things such as empathy.
#6992
9 Squirrels

Squirrels may be small, but their brains should not underrated. Yes, we know what your thinking; every time you almost hit one with your car is because they can’t seem to figure out how to get out of your way, how can they be smart? Well, their intelligence is very focused on one thing; gathering food.  When it comes to storing provisions their minds are uniquely adapted with everything they need which includes a ridiculous memory to remember where they store it.
#6993
10 Cats

Those who have cats as pets know that these animals are skilled at hunting. They are agile and they possess incredible sensory ability and though their not nearly as trainable as dogs, they are extremely adept at learning new skills.

By Saturday, the death toll had risen to 120, according to Muthana al Tamimi, governor of Diyala province.

But with 140 more wounded in the blast, that may go up.

The White House issued a statement Saturday condemning the attack, and reiterating its commitment "to bring an end to (ISIS') depravity."

"On behalf of the brave people of Diyala Province and all those Iraqis persecuted by (ISIS), the United States will continue to support the Government of Iraq and its security forces to degrade and ultimately destroy this terrorist organization," said National Security Council spokesman Ned Price.
