A new doctoral thesis gives detailed rules that Muslims should follow if they break wind excessively before worshipping


The Arab world’s most prominent seat of Islamic learning has approved a doctoral thesis giving detailed rules that Muslims should follow if they break wind excessively before worshipping.

Al-Azhar university, in Cairo, has passed a doctorate which says that the amount of ritual washing, or purification, that takes place before prayer should vary depending on the smell and length of flatulent outbursts during the course of the day.
