Anti-Muslim sentiment has been on the rise across Europe for several years. Due to mounting violence in the Middle East by the Islamic State group, as well as certain Islamist-motivated attacks in Europe, including the massacre in Paris in January that claimed the lives of 12 cartoonists at the satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo, many European residents have begun supporting anti-Muslim viewpoints.

In Finland, the far-right, euroskeptic Finns Party has been garnering support from a growing voter base. In the most recent May elections, the party, which has been known to be anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant, won multiple seats in parliament. The party's leader Timo Soini was named deputy prime minister and foreign minister soon after.

Just last week a member of parliament from the Finns Party called for citizens of Finland to fight for “one true Finnish nation” and end multiculturalism. The comment made by Olli Immonen came under fire by fellow representatives in government who felt he had gone to far.

Anti-Muslim Europe: Anti-Muslim Europe: Finns Would Rather Live Next To Alcoholic Rehab Center Than A Mosque, Poll Shows
By Jess McHugh @McHughJess j.mchugh@ibtimes.com on August 04 2015 7:57 AM EDT

People from Finland would prefer to live next to a rehabilitation center for alcoholics than a mosque, a poll reported Tuesday. The poll, conducted by the Finnish policy research center Taloustutkimus and commissioned by the Finnish news service Yle, reported that only 37 percent of respondents would be willing to live near a mosque.

The survey was commissioned to probe "Nimbyism," which stands for “Not In My Back Yard," according to Yle, and all of the questions were related to neighborhood changes in service or community centers of some kind. Of the types of changes proposed -- a mosque, an alcoholic rehabilitation center, a mental hospital -- the only one that was less popular than a mosque was a needle exchange center for drug addicts, with only 27 percent of Finns polled being amenable to such a change.

No one is sure as to exactly how this odd border dispute came to be: Some say it was the result of a chess game, others says it was because of an ink spill on a map by a drunk British colonial. Both stories are probably more akin to legend than history.

I go for the ink spill. The same drunk British colonial could very well have conceived the game of cricket as a hair of the dog hallucination one humid subcontinent morning.

Chinese authorities are investigating allegations of misbehaviour against the controversial 'CEO monk' who turned the temple where kung fu was invented into a sprawling commercial empire.

Master Shi Yongxin, who heads the famed Shaolin Temple, has been accused by a former disciple of fathering several children out of wedlock and embezzling funds.

The religious affairs bureau under the Denfeng city government says it was asked by the national body to look into the claims, which were made online, against the Chinese abbot.

'Our bureau takes this extremely seriously and will swiftly clarify ... and ensure a correct understanding of the matter,' the bureau said in a one-sentence notice on the city government website.

The notice didn't specify any of the claims, although media reports in China say the accusations include that Abbot Shi fathered children with at least two women and embezzled temple money.

Abbot Shi could not be reached for comment and calls to the temple in Henan province south of Beijing rang unanswered.

10. There are people with much worse problems than you. That's very true, but knowing that some people get third-degree burns doesn't make first-degree burns hurt less.

11. You're not truly better if you're relying on medication. It would be great to get out of bed every morning, do my job, and engage in social activities without psychiatric assistance. But popping a pill every night is way preferable to missing out on everything life has to offer.

12. Just cheer up. You would never tell someone with a cold to just stop coughing. Depression is also a physical ailment beyond our control; the problem is just in our brains rather than in our throats.

So, if you can't say these things, what do you say? I would recommend asking a loved one with depression if there's anything you can do for them. That way, you'll know what they want rather than guessing and potentially getting it wrong. And if their answer is that there's nothing you can do, that's OK. You might feel useless, but how they feel is more important. Plus, even if you can't help, they may take comfort in just knowing you want to.

This post, written by Suzannah Weiss, originally appeared on Ravishly.

5. What are you sad about? Depression isn't really "about" anything except a chemical imbalance. Depressed people feel bad about a lot of things, but those things didn't cause the depression.

6. You should get out and do something fun. OK, I'll get cracking at that once I muster up the energy to put my shoes on.

7. You should be glad just to be able-bodied. I'd love to be happy about my physical abilities -- or literally anything -- but unfortunately, I can't turn my mood on and off with a switch. And as an aside, it's offensive to disabled people to suggest that people should be happy not to be them.

8. You'd feel better if you smiled more. What I do with my face is nobody else's business, and again, if beating depression were that easy, nobody would be depressed.

9. Don't cry. With the exception of actors playing a role, most people, depressed or otherwise, don't intentionally cry. If you see someone cry, you're probably seeing tears they tried to fight back. Don't make them feel worse for letting them escape.
#6719
Here are some statements and questions to avoid if you don't want to make matters worse for someone who is already feeling bad:

1. Have you tried getting eating better/sleeping less/exercising more/getting more light? If depression could be cured that easily, nobody would suffer from it. Most people with depression have already tried everything in the book and more.

2. There's nothing to be upset about. There's actually a lot in the world to be upset about; people with depression just spend more time aware of it.

3. There's no use dwelling on things. You are correct; there's no use in having depression, just like there's no use in having cancer, yet here we all are.

4. Everything will be OK. This fact hasn't escaped our awareness, but things still feel pretty shitty right now.

Those who know and love people with depression usually want nothing other than to help. But during the times I've been depressed, even the most well-intentioned efforts to help often backfired.

While most of the things people told me while I was depressed stemmed from compassion, they also stemmed from their misguided belief that they could treat my depression. Ultimately, there was nothing anybody could have said to cure me. It was probably a combination of time and medication that transformed me from an often-depressed adolescent into an occasionally depressed adult. Implying that you can cure someone's depression undermines the severity of the condition, as does throwing out suggestions that have likely occurred to them already.

North Korea's secretive government have been criticized worldwide for human rights abuses and crimes against humanity, as its people have suffered ongoing famine and disease.

“Kim Jong-Un’s power is built on the continued abuses inflicted on the North Korean people because he sits at the helm of a central government apparatus that uses public executions, extensive political prison camps, and brutal forced labor to maintain control,” Phil Robertson, deputy Asia director at Human Rights Watch, said in a recent report.

But not all countries have been critical of North Korea.

Indonesia and North Korea have maintained friendly ties for decades, according to the AFP. An early rapport was established between Kim Jong Un's late grandfather, Kim Il Sung, and Rachmawati's father, Sukarno, who served as president of Indonesia from 1945 to 1967.

Kim Il Sung, who died in 1994, was posthumously given the same award that is now going to his grandson, while Rachmawati holds an honorary chairwoman position on Pyongyang's Korean reunification preparation committee, according to United Press International. Rachmawati's sister, Megawati Sukarnoputri, is also a former president of Indonesia and leader of a major political party.

The Sukarno Education Foundation, also known as the Sukarno Centre, will give Kim Jong Un the award in September.

In 2013, Malaysia's privately run HELP University awarded Kim an honorary doctorate in economics despite the fact that his nation remains among the poorest in the world.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is often criticized for his government's human rights abuses.
A peace and humanitarian prize that was previously awarded to Mahatma Gandhi and Myanmar's Aung San Suu Kyi will soon be given to North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.

An Indonesian organization announced plans last week to give North Korea's Supreme Leader its statesmanship award, which celebrates "peace, justice and humanity." The Sukarno Education Foundation quickly found itself on the defensive.

Kim "should be honoured for his fight against neo-colonialist imperialism," Rachmawati Sukarnoputri, the daughter of Indonesia's first president, told the Agence France-Presse.

As for the allegations of human rights abuses in North Korea, they are "untrue," she said. "That's all just Western propaganda. Those Western governments like to put ugly labels on North Korea."

If you want to know the trick to living a long life, look no further than Agnes Fenton, a New Jersey woman who just celebrated her 110th birthday. So what’s her secret? Eating well? Psh. An exercise routine? Nah. It turns out the real keys to health and prosperity are Johnnie Walker and Miller High Life. Yes, you read that right.

Fenton is one of an estimated 600 people in the world who are 110 or older â€" also known as “supercentenarians” â€" making her about 1 in 10 million. Talk about good odds.

Born on August 1, 1905, Fenton, who has no children, has become a small-town celebrity, receiving birthday greetings from President Obama and New Jersey governor Chris Christie. August 1 was even declared “Agnes Fenton Day” in the city of Englewood, N.J. â€" an honor bestowed on her 100 th birthday.

In an ABC World News interview around her 105th birthday, Fenton shared the surprising possible secrets to her long life: whiskey and beer.

According to Fenton, following a run-in with a benign tumor years ago, a doctor told her, “Agnes, you must drink three Miller High Lifes a day.” Agnes followed that advice, and then some, adding a shot of scotch to her daily drinking regimen. In case you’re wondering, her go-to brand is Johnnie Walker Blue Label.

Business and Economy / Re: Hawala
August 04, 2015, 12:16:39 PM
In addition to commissions, hawala brokers often earn their profits through bypassing official exchange rates. Generally, the funds enter the system in the source country's currency and leave the system in the recipient country's currency. As settlements often take place without any foreign exchange transactions, they can be made at other than official exchange rates.

Hawala is attractive to customers because it provides a fast and convenient transfer of funds, usually with a far lower commission than that charged by banks. Its advantages are most pronounced when the receiving country applies unprofitable exchange rate regulations (as has been the case for many typical receiving countries such as Egypt) or when the banking system in the receiving country is less complex (e.g., due to differences in legal environment in places such as Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia). Moreover, in some parts of the world it is the only option for legitimate fund transfers, and has even been used by aid organizations in areas where it is the best-functioning institution. --Wiki

Business and Economy / Re: Hawala
August 04, 2015, 12:16:01 PM
The unique feature of the system is that no promissory instruments are exchanged between the hawala brokers; the transaction takes place entirely on the honour system. As the system does not depend on the legal enforceability of claims, it can operate even in the absence of a legal and juridical environment. Trust and extensive use of connections, such as family relations and regional affiliations, are the components that distinguish it from other remittance systems.

Informal records are produced of individual transactions, and a running tally of the amount owed by one broker to another is kept. Settlements of debts between hawala brokers can take a variety of forms (such as goods, services, properties, transfers of employees, etc.), and need not take the form of direct cash transactions.

How hawala works

In the most basic variant of the hawala system, money is transferred via a network of hawala brokers, or hawaladars. It is the transfer of money without actually moving it. In fact, a successful definition of the hawala system that is used is "money transfer without money movement".

Hawala example transaction

The figure shows how Hawala works: (1) a customer (A, left-hand side) approaches a hawala broker (X) in one city and gives a sum of money (red arrow) that is to be transferred to a recipient (B, right-hand side) in another, usually foreign, city. Along with the money, he usually specifies something like a password that will lead to the money being paid out (blue arrows). (2b) The hawala broker X calls another hawala broker M in the recipient's city, and informs M about the agreed password, or gives other disposition instructions of the funds. Then, the intended recipient (B), who also has been informed by A about the password (2a), now approaches M and tells him the agreed password (3a). If the password is correct, then M releases the transferred sum to B (3b), usually minus a small commission. X now basically owes M the money that M had paid out to B; thus M has to trust X‍ 's promise to settle the debt at a later date.

Hawala or Hewala (Arabic, meaning transfer), also known as hundi, is an informal value transfer system based on the performance and honour of a huge network of money brokers, primarily located in the Middle East, North Africa, the Horn of Africa, and the Indian subcontinent, operating outside of, or parallel to, traditional banking, financial channels, and remittance systems.

Molly Owens, CEO of Truity and developer of the TypeFinder® personality type assessment, isn't too surprised by this finding.

She tells Business Insider the result replicates previous studies of the Big Five personality model that have repeatedly found that people with high levels of a trait called "conscientiousness" â€" or a person's tendency to be goal-oriented and persistent â€" tend to earn more and be more successful in their careers.

She says Judgers are often highly conscientious while Perceivers tend to have lower levels of conscientiousness, so it's expected that Judgers would experience more career achievement.

"Perceivers tend to be freewheeling, spontaneous types who dislike schedules and structure," Owens says. "At the extreme, and if they haven't developed good organizational skills, Perceivers can have trouble meeting deadlines and keeping up with demanding jobs. So they may actually be more likely to lose their jobs in the first place, if they're not meeting expectations."

Owens says Perceivers might also be more likely to spend more time unemployed once they're out of work than Judgers. "Unlike Judgers, who dislike unpredictable circumstances, Perceivers are more likely to take the unexpected loss of a job in stride, considering it a good excuse for a little time off. Undoubtedly, it was a Perceiver who coined the term 'funemployment.'"

"Judgers, on the other hand, are usually organized, goal-directed folks who prefer a predictable routine. They are valued in the workplace because of their attention to schedules and deadlines, so they may be less likely to lose their jobs in the first place."

On the flip side of this, Owens says Judgers are far less likely to take to being unemployed since they thrive on structure and want to feel that they are constantly moving forward.

"So they're more motivated to get back to work, and probably more organized about the process of finding a new job," she says.

If you're wondering why it's so difficult for you to hold down a job, you might consider taking a personality assessment.

Science suggests there's one personality type that's more likely to be unemployed than others.

A new report from Truity Psychometrics, a provider of online personality and career assessments, found that, overall, being a "Perceiver" significantly predicts your tendency to be jobless.

ISFPs (people with a preference for Introversion, Sensing, Feeling, and Perceiving) were the most likely of all 16 personality types to report being unemployed. And INFPs, INTPs, ENTPs, and ESFPs were all more likely than average to report that they were out of a job, according to the report.

Diputado explained that since the exams will be held on Sundays, the questionnaires need to be at the areas by Friday and there is no mechanism yet how to make sure that there would be no leakage.

He said law schools in provinces might have to wait longer until the Supreme Court could decide on the implementing rules.

The matter also cropped up again during the recent gathering of the Philippine Association of Law Schools (PALS) in Dumaguete City.

In Bohol, three institutions offer colleges of law â€" the Holy Name University (HNU), University of Bohol and the Bohol Institute of Technology-International College.

For his part, HNU College of Law Dean Tomas Abapo Jr. expressed that they concur with other institutions calling for Supreme Court to consider holding the Bar examinations in the regions.

“This has been discussed by PALS and is now under study by the Supreme Court who conducts the exams. This is advantageous to provincial schools. One hindrance, though, is the security of bar questions and results,” according to Abapo.

Some schools suggested that if it is difficult to conduct it in every region, at least there could be one in Cebu and one in Mindanao.

For the Bar examination in November, the Supreme Court already approved to conduct it again at the University of Santo Tomas (UST), according to earlier reports.

Prior to 2011, the Bar exams were used to be held at the De La Salle University on Taft Avenue, Manila.

However, the bombing that marred the final day of the exams in September 2010 prompted the transfer of the venue to UST in the following years.

Tagbilaran City (CNN Philippines) â€" Law schools in Bohol join other members of the Philippine Association of Law Schools (PALS) in the clamor to conduct the Bar exams in regions.

Salvador Diputado, dean of Bohol Institute of Technology-International College (BIT-IC) College of Law and trustee for the Visayas of PALS, said it is the common sentiment of the College of Law deans in provinces.

The clamor is for the Supreme Court to conduct the Bar exams in four areas: Visayas, Mindanao, Luzon and the National Capital Region â€" instead of centralizing it in Manila.

This will cut the cost in transportation, and board and lodging of Bar examinees from the provinces.

Diputado said they were told that the Supreme Court, in principle, is amenable to the suggestion.

However, the only concern of the Supreme Court is the integrity of the questionnaires.

Then there is the problem of stability. The Kerr black hole, for example, may be unstable if one falls through it. Similarly, quantum effects may build up and destroy the wormhole before you enter it. Unfortunately, our mathematics is not powerful enough to answer the question of stability because you need a “theory of everything” which combines both quantum forces and gravity. At present, superstring theory is the leading candidate for such a theory (in fact, it is the ONLY candidate; it really has no rivals at all). But superstring theory, which happens to be my specialty, is still to difficult to solve completely. The theory is well-defined, but no one on earth is smart enough to solve it.

Interestingly enough, Stephen Hawking once opposed the idea of time travel. He even claimed he had “empirical” evidence against it. If time travel existed, he said, then we would have been visited by tourists from the future. Since we see no tourists from the future, ergo: time travel is not possible. Because of the enormous amount of work done by theoretical physicists within the last 5 years or so, Hawking has since changed his mind, and now believes that time travel is possible (although not necessarily practical). (Furthermore, perhaps we are simply not very interesting to these tourists from the future. Anyone who can harness the power of a star would consider us to be very primitive. Imagine your friends coming across an ant hill. Would they bend down to the ants and give them trinkets, books, medicine, and power? Or would some of your friends have the strange urge to step on a few of them?)

In conclusion, don’t turn someone away who knocks at your door one day and claims to be your future great-great-great grandchild. They may be right.

Recently, attempts to add the quantum theory to gravity (and hence create a “theory of everything”) have given us some insight into the paradox problem. In the quantum theory, we can have multiple states of any object. For example, an electron can exist simultaneously in different orbits (a fact which is responsible for giving us the laws of chemistry). Similarly, Schrodinger’s famous cat can exist simultaneously in two possible states: dead and alive. So by going back in time and altering the past, we merely create a parallel universe. So we are changing someone ELSE’s past by saving, say, Abraham Lincoln from being assassinated at the Ford Theater, but our Lincoln is still dead. In this way, the river of time forks into two separate rivers. But does this mean that we will be able to jump into H.G. Wells’ machine, spin a dial, and soar several hundred thousand years into England’s future? No. There are a number of difficult hurdles to overcome.

First, the main problem is one of energy. In the same way that a car needs gasoline, a time machine needs to have fabulous amounts of energy. One either has to harness the power of a star, or to find something called “exotic” matter (which falls up, rather than down) or find a source of negative energy. (Physicists once thought that negative energy was impossible. But tiny amounts of negative energy have been experimentally verified for something called the Casimir effect, i.e. the energy created by two parallel plates). All of these are exceedingly difficult to obtain in large quantities, at least for several more centuries!

In his memoirs, Einstein wrote that he was disturbed that his equations contained solutions that allowed for time travel. But he finally concluded: the universe does not rotate, it ex- pands (i.e. as in the Big Bang theory) and hence Goedel’s solution could be thrown out for “physical reasons.” (Apparently, if the Big Bang was rotating, then time travel would be possible throughout the universe!)

Then in 1963, Roy Kerr, a New Zealand mathematician, found a solution of Einstein’s equations for a rotating black hole, which had bizarre properties. The black hole would not collapse to a point (as previously thought) but into a spinning ring (of neutrons). The ring would be circulating so rapidly that centrifugal force would keep the ring from collapsing under gravity. The ring, in turn, acts like the Looking Glass of Alice. Anyone walking through the ring would not die, but could pass through the ring into an alternate universe. Since then, hundreds of other “wormhole” solutions have been found to Einstein’s equations. These wormholes connect not only two regions of space (hence the name) but also two regions of time as well. In principle, they can be used as time machines.

Not surprisingly, time travel has always been considered impossible. After all, Newton believed that time was like an arrow; once fired, it soared in a straight, undeviating line. One second on the earth was one second on Mars. Clocks scattered throughout the universe beat at the same rate. Einstein gave us a much more radical picture. According to Einstein, time was more like a river, which meandered around stars and galaxies, speeding up and slowing down as it passed around massive bodies. One second on the earth was Not one second on Mars. Clocks scattered throughout the universe beat to their own distant drummer.

However, before Einstein died, he was faced with an embarrassing problem. Einstein’s neighbor at Princeton, Kurt Goedel, perhaps the greatest mathematical logician of the past 500 years, found a new solution to Einstein’s own equations which allowed for time travel! The “river of time” now had whirlpools in which time could wrap itself into a circle. Goedel’s solution was quite ingenious: it postulated a universe filled with a rotating fluid. Anyone walking along the direction of rotation would find themselves back at the starting point, but backwards in time!

There is also the paradox of the man with no past. For example, let’s say that a young inventor is trying futilely to build a time machine in his garage. Suddenly, an elderly man appears from nowhere and gives the youth the secret of building a time machine. The young man then becomes enormously rich playing the stock market, race tracks, and sporting events because he knows the future. Then, as an old man, he decides to make his final trip back to the past and give the secret of time travel to his youthful self. Question: where did the idea of the time machine come from?

There is also the paradox of the man who is own mother (my apologies to Heinlein.) “Jane” is left at an orphanage as a foundling. When “Jane” is a teenager, she falls in love with a drifter, who abandons her but leaves her pregnant. Then disaster strikes. She almost dies giving birth to a baby girl, who is then mysteriously kidnapped. The doctors find that Jane is bleeding badly, but, oddly enough, has both sex organs. So, to save her life, the doctors convert “Jane” to “Jim.”

“Jim” subsequently becomes a roaring drunk, until he meets a friendly bartender (actually a time traveler in disguise) who whisks “Jim” back way into the past. “Jim” meets a beautiful teenage girl, accidentally gets her pregnant with a baby girl. Out of guilt, he kidnaps the baby girl and drops her off at the orphanage. Later, “Jim” joins the time travelers corps, leads a distinguished life, and has one last dream: to disguise himself as a bartender to meet a certain drunk named “Jim” in the past. Question: who is “Jane’s” mother, father, brother, sister, grand- father, grandmother, and grandchild?

The Physics of Time Travel
Is it real, or is it fable?

In H.G. Wells’ novel, The Time Machine, our protagonist jumped into a special chair with blinking lights, spun a few dials, and found himself catapulted several hundred thousand years into the future, where England has long disappeared and is now inhabited by strange creatures called the Morlocks and Eloi. That may have made great fiction, but physicists have always scoffed at the idea of time travel, considering it to be the realm of cranks, mystics, and charlatans, and with good reason.

However, rather remarkable advances in quantum gravity are reviving the theory; it has now become fair game for theoretical physicists writing in the pages of Physical Review magazine. One stubborn problem with time travel is that it is riddled with several types of paradoxes. For example, there is the paradox of the man with no parents, i.e. what happens when you go back in time and kill your parents before you are born? Question: if your parents died before you were born, then how could you have been born to kill them in the first place?

An INC member can only be expelled upon marrying a non-INC member, is wed before a judge or a Catholic priest, gets pregnant out of wedlock or have a relationship with a non-member.

They will also be excommunicated should they eat blood, eat food blessed by a Catholic priest, eat animals killed by hanging, get drunk or attend fiestas.

On to the future...

When compared to our world, Earth would be roughly 20 degrees Celsius (36 °F) hotter during summer. It would also experience massive typhoons due to the enormous circulation system in the Tethys that would be unimpeded except by island chains or shallow continental shelves.

During the second historical Pangaean period, mammals dominated in tropical and water-rich monsoon areas while reptiles dominated the great arid areas, largely because mammals use more water when they excrete. Studies of a transection of Pangaean fossil records show tropical regions dominated by traversodont cynodonts, an extinct order of pre-mammals, while the temperate regions were largely occupied by procolophonoids, which resembled stocky lizards and are distantly related to modern turtles.

Different regions of a modern Pangaea might have been dominated by completely different orders of life, a variety of tropical mammal and mammal-like creatures populating the hot and wet regions, and reptiles and pseudoreptiles ruling the roost in the dry interior and temperate regions. Intelligent life would have been unlikely to develop due to the relative stasis of the environment, but if it had, its effect on the opposite climatic region would have been dire. -- http://listverse.com/

From 300 million to 200 million years ago, the world’s continents were fused as a single landmass called “Pangaea,” slowly drifting apart to create the continents we know today, while causing some interesting situations like India crashing headlong into Asia’s underside and raising the Himalayas. But what if tectonic drift had never happened and Pangaea still dominated one hemisphere with a great Tethys world ocean on the other?

Most likely, we would have a less diverse world biologically because the development of different species occurs mainly through geographic isolation, which causes selective pressures and the development of new genetic traits. Much of the interior would be arid as moisture-bearing clouds wouldn’t reach very far inland. With the excess mass affecting the Earth’s spin, most of the landmass on Earth would be in the hot equatorial regions.

Sibling rivalry

The current scandal rocking the INC is sibling rivalry blown out of proportion, two insiders privy to church politics said.

In separate interviews, the insiders said envy or jealousy stirred by a desire to gain power or control over the 101-year-old religious sect could have propelled Angel Manalo to revolt against his older brother Eduardo.

“It’s just jealousy and envy because since Eduardo was appointed, the council took away Angel’s privileges,” said one of the sources identified only as Raymundo.

Another source identified as Alex echoed the same observation. “Angel got angry when the things he wanted were not given to him,” said the other source.

Eduardo and Angel are grandsons of INC’s founder Felix Manalo. Their father Eraño succeeded the latter as executive minister and held the post from 1953 to 2009.

It was under Erano’s watch that INC sealed its position as an influential sector in the Philippines not only in propagating the faith but also in delivering electoral votes.

It was under Erano’s watch, too, that members endearingly called his sons “princes.”

According to The STAR sources, while Eraño groomed Eduardo to succeed him, Angel was the apple of his eye. - With Aie Balagtas See, Janvic Mateo

Rosal explained that before an INC member can be expelled, he will be given the opportunity to defend himself and time to reflect on his misdeeds.

He questioned the way the council expels INC members, saying that during the time of the late executive minister Eraño Manalo, the members could not be easily expelled.

He believes that they were not expelled by God, but only by the council members currently running the INC.

Sarah Manuel, an INC member who was recently expelled for supporting Angel, said she still does not know if she will be allowed to enter college at the New Era University.

Rosal, however, still believes that the key to an everlasting peace within the INC remains in the hands of executive minister Eduardo Manalo.
#6794
Rosal, an INC member since 1989, was expelled from the sect after he and his family discovered and exposed the alleged wrongdoing of some ministers.

Aside from Rosal, several other ministers were also expelled by the church leadership.

Church leaders expelled last week INC executive minister Eduardo Manalo’s brother Felix Nathaniel “Angel” Manalo, their mother Christina or Tenny, as well as siblings Marco Eraño and Lolita “Lottie” Manalo-Hemedez for allegedly sowing disunity within the organization.

Rosal, together with his wife and son, is one of the supporters inside the compound of the expelled Manalos at No. 36 Tandang Sora Ave., Quezon City. He said that corrupt ministers have been using the religion to extort money from politicians in exchange for their votes in past elections.

Rosal cried foul since the council expelled them allegedly without due process.

All INC members are also told not to defy any order of church management.

MANILA, Philippines - Expelled ministers of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) lose not only the chance to be “saved from hell,” but also the perks of membership in the secretive religious sect.

Roel Rosal, 46, one of the expelled ministers, said that the current Sanggunian or council has “killed” not only their future, but also the future of their children whom they considered as gifts to the church.

An INC minister is entitled to free housing, scholarships for their children at New Era University in Quezon City and medical benefits through Sundry, a counterpart of the government’s PhilHealth.

He, however, clarified that everything they gained at INC is the fruit of their dedication to the church.
