Anonymous Diary Blog / Re: What did you do today?
September 24, 2008, 02:07:42 PM
Another super busy day!  Got up early to visit the friend whose husband died on September 8.  Today, I helped this friend named Lucy to get rid of her husband's belongings.  It wasn't easy but she had to let go of some things so she can move on.

Thanks for this, Flower.  It doesn't make sense that any people, media people at that has the absolute right to write anything they want because they feel that they are "immune from libel".

Oh, Toby is so cute, Babe!

For the information of everybody, Toby is the pet dog of our friend's husband (Steve) who died last week.  He is the sweetest dog!  Whenever our friend (Lucy) starts crying, Toby would do all kinds of gestures to console Lucy.  Toby would put her hands on Lucy's shoulder or kiss her or hold Lucy's hands.  That's one amazing dog, a gentle giant dog!

Aya san, lisud jud kaayo seeing our friend feeling so helpless but I believe she will be just fine.  Di nko ma imagine na kalit na lamang mawala imong bana or asawa or other loved ones.  Ako hinuon, between me and my husband, I'd rather na sya ang ma una kay kon ako ang ma una wala na dayon mag take care niya and he will be so sad dayon.

Hippocrates once said that life is fragile as the dreams that man has in his sleep. Life truly is fragile as it is unpredictable. The more painful if a loved one is taken from us. Make the most of what you have and don't take for granted the love that they give you; as well as don't hesitate to shower your love to those who you care about.

The truth to the matter is that we'll never know if tomorrow is our last or not. One thing is clear; that our Lord is the only one that knows when our time is coming.

Ate Ging, I'm thinking and praying for your friend. I do hope she mourns soon and that she will be alright. You being by her side during this trying of situation is very important to her, even if she doesn't show it now. I really hope she gets through this hard time..

Sincerely,

Thank you so much, Dong!  I really I appreciate it!  She is doing better now though she still cries a lot especially at early morning.  She will be fine soon, I pray.

I know my question sounds silly because I don't think we can ever be ready to lose our loved ones but don't you think we need to somehow prepare ourselves for this?

Last Saturday, the husband of my friend died. Her name is Lucy, a beautiful lass from Cebu and the husband was Steve.  Steve husband was healthy although in the previous year he survived a thyroid cancer.  His last check up was July 15 of this year and the doctor gave him a clean bill of health.  Saturday afternoon after he came back from his office work, he told his wife we would go to their other property which is just a walking distance from where they are living.  Lucy was preparing for dinner already so she did not accompany her anymore.  He kissed her before he left and he promised he would be back in five minutes.  An hour came and he did not show up.  She called him and he did not answer.  She left a message, "where the heck are you...?"  An hour later, after she called him again and no answer, she decided to walk to go to their property where her husband was.  She found her husband faced down at the back of the property.  She shook him to wake up and he didn't which she dialed 911.  Paremedics came.  Police came and then the Coroner came.  He is gone.

My friend is in total shock.  He was her life, her everything.  She rolled in the street, crawled in fetal position, cried and wail until there was no voice came out from her.  She didn't believe Steve is gone.  She said he is coming back.  She kept watching the window because she said he promised her he will come back. At some times, she said she couldn't survive without him.  She talked about suicide so we had to watch her round the clock.  Chaplain and a nun friend came to talk to her.  They said to keep telling her he is really gone because the sooner she believes this the earlier she starts dealing with the loss.

I watched her the whole day yesterday.  I couldn't be strong enough not to cry with her. I can't help but ask myself, would I ever be ready?  Right now the answer is, I could never be ready!  I talked to my husband.  I told him, "don't you dare die on me!"  He said to me, "in life, we are not assured to win the lotto or to own a big house or travel the world but we are assured that sooner or later we all will die."

Hi Graze, praise God that He protected you from that fatal accident. Life here on earth and life in eternity is separated by a split of a second.

Our protection and security comes from God alone. It is absolutely necessary to talk to God at the start of the day for God to cover us by His protection.

Praise be unto the Lord Jesus Christ who saved you from that accident.

Amen to this, Mike.  Really, it could have been worst as in worst but He saved me.

I am typing this post with just 8 fingers working.  I was so close to being dead and I have to shake my head because it seems like I am seeingnow a thread in TB, Rest in Peace, Grazie!

Yesterday afternoon, I decided to re-arrange my corner curio where I put my little collection of crystal bowls and cake plate.  It has five levels, the first or top level is where I put a tea or sake set given to me by my dear Aya san.  So you can say it's where I keep my precious breakable little collection.

I got done re-arranging the second level where I put two of my three crystal bowls and at the back of it, I vertically placed my one and only crystal cake plate.  One of the bowls is so heavy as well as the crystal cake plate.  Ok, fast forward.  I was already at the bottom level when, out of the blue, I heard crashing sound!  The crystal cake plate fell on the crystal heavy bowl and I supposed the impact caused the bowl to break into multiple pieces!  I didn't have time anymore to run as I was squatting and all I did was to cover my head with my hands.  One of the big pieces hit my head and as I checked my hand, blood was profusely oozing.  I thought it came from my head as the broken crystal bowl was so sharp and so heavy but with God's grace, my head was spared with just a little bruise. I had a very deep and big cut that slit my left pinky finger and a small cut in my right pinky finger. I holler for my husband to help me and he was so surprised to see both my hands and my shorts and shirt bloodied and blood all over my floor.  I later saw a cut in my left wrist - almost like a slit when one is committing suicide! I also have a big cut in my upper right arm and lots of mini cuts in my back shoulders (as I was wearing a sleeveless shirt) from the broken glass splinters.  I know I should have had gotten a few stitches especially in my left pinky finger but I chose not to.  It wasn't really that bad to go through more pain of the needle! My husband cleaned my cuts, applied some neosporin, bandaged while I relax in the sofa feeling whoozy from seeing the blood.  Much later after my husband took care of my cuts, I looked like a patched woman.  Today, the only remaining bandages I have are the one in my left pinky finger and my right upper arm.

Being a leftie, it is so hard for me to do things with a bandaged pinky finger but I am not about to complain. I looked at all the broken pieces scattered all over my floor and it was pretty bad!  I am thankful to God and to my angels for carrying the bigger and sharp splinters away from me that could have had hit my head fatally.  I really shudder to think how close I was but I guess it wasn't my time yet.

My husband told me to treat those things with more respect as they can be deadly weapon! lol  Really, I could have been more careful like not putting the cake plate vertically but I loved the look of it behind the bowls.  Oh well.  Lesson learned.  And now, I feel like I am given a new life.

Thanks God for sparing my life once again.

I was tempted to say, "Don't Break my Heart, My Achy Breaky Heart", by Billy Ray Cyrus. Bitaw, somebody dedicated this song for me a long time ago:  Now and Forever I will be your man.

Unsaon man I can't be her woman then and forever.  I was meant for somebody else.  :)

Opps, I see that you modified your post.   :)

It's interesting what you wrote there, die young.  I guess you purposely picked the post of Lorenzo just to relieve this issue which is good so we can settle this.

I was the one who drafted the guidelines and the 90% grade I quoted, though just a suggestion, was to me a fair grade.  I aspired to be a scholar then but the minimum passing grade acceptable was 90 and even then I thought that was fair enough, which I wasn't able to attain thus I the scholarship was given to more deserving student.  Anyhow, I don't think gapasikat lang si Lorenzo na kesyo naa sya dre sa US.  Again, his suggestion was to me a valid one.  Having said that, I thank you for relieving this thread para ma straighten that at this moment, this planned program is not pushing through for many factors and one is that we could not get enough funding.  We are right now in financial dilemma ourselves so di sa lang ni nato mapadayon pagkakaron.

So thanks aron nabutangan nato ning closure.  :)

My mom makes really good cassava cake and Leche Flan. And yes, Ube Jam. Lots more that I forget the names, hahahaha!

I love all those foods, Dong!  I have a thing for Pinoy kakanin jud!  You know what, Tia Edna (Alyssamarie/Smiffy's Mom) makes the best leche flan.  It just simply melts in your mouth but sure cholesterol and calories are unimaginable! lol

I also like the unique cake made of broas or at least ang facade is made of broas.  Nicely done! :)
