How in the world can anyone mistake a sack of dollars - 60 thousand dollars at that for a garbage.  Well then, maybe that was a garbage and the people in the dumpster see that as treasure.

On the question, I don't think either that there was any ground for the NBI to file robbery charges against the scavengers.  They are lucky they got 20k back!  As to the scavengers, yes, morally, they should have had returned the whole thing and hopefully they will get a monetary reward from the careless owner but for sure they will get credit from God for being good.  But wait, where are these scavengers going to return the sack of money found in the dumpster?  To the NBI?  To the police?  hmmm...  ::)

Very nice, Manay Tess!  One day, I was in a bus.  A lady asked if I have a quarter to add to her fare.  She didn't ask for a dollar but just a quarter.  And I didn't have!  I can't give her five dollars and asked for change, can I?  So, I told her, I have a bus ticket, if that's okay with her.  And her face lit up and offered to give me her coins.  I said to keep it.  When I was alone already, I thought, Wow, Jesus just asked me for a quarter!  Amazing!

Inspiration & Hope / Love Is A Habit
December 01, 2008, 10:20:30 AM

by Rick Warren

“If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners’ love those who love them.” Luke 6:32 (NIV)

*** *** *** ***

If you only love on and off like a light switch, you do not love others like God wants you to love. Jesus said, “If you only love those who love you what credit is that to you?” (Luke 6:32 NIV).

His point is this: anybody can love those who love them. Becoming a master lover means you learn to love the unlovable. It’s when you love people who don’t love you, when you love people who irritate you, when you love people who stab you in the back or gossip about you.

This may seem like an impossible task and it is â€" that’s why we need God’s love in us, so we can then love others: “We know and rely on the love God has for us” (1 John 4:16 NIV).

When you realize how much God loves you â€" with an extravagant, irresistible, unconditional love â€" then his love will change your entire focus on life. If we don’t receive God’s love for us, we’ll have a hard time loving other people. I’m talking about loving the unlovely, loving the difficult, loving the irritable, loving people who are different or demanding.

You can’t do that until you have God’s love coming through you. You need to know God’s love so it can overflow out of your life into others.

Love must become your lifestyle, the habit of your life. But it starts with a decision. Are you ready?

Your life is worth far more than you think, and by learning to love others with the love God gives you, you will have an influence far greater than you could ever imagine. If you will commit to this, you will experience love as God means it to be, filled with hope, energy, and joy.

My prayer for you is “that your love will grow more and more; that you will have knowledge and understanding with your love …” (Philippians 1:9 NCV).

Inspiration & Hope / Love Is A Skill
December 01, 2008, 10:19:31 AM

by Rick Warren

Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 1 John 4:7 (NLT)

*** *** *** ***

Love is a skill that can be learned. In other words, it’s something you can get good at and that means you get better at love by practicing love.

You may think you’re a good lover, but God wants you to become a great lover, a skilled lover, a master lover. Yet, most people never learn how to love. You can become an expert at relationships.

Wouldn’t you like to become known as a person of extraordinary love? When people speak of you they might say: “He doesn’t care who you are or what you look like.” “She doesn’t care where you’ve been or what you’ve done or where you’re from.”

The only way you get skilled at something is to practice. You do it over and over. The first time you do it, it feels awkward, but the more you do it, the better you become.

The same is true with love (1 John 4:7). Let’s practice loving each other. As the Bible says, “Practice these things; be committed to them, so that your progress may be evident to all” (1 Timothy 4:15 HCSB).

Inspiration & Hope / Love Is An Action
December 01, 2008, 10:18:10 AM

by Rick Warren

Dear children, let us stop just saying we love each other; let us really show it by our actions. 1 John 3:18 (NLT)

*** *** *** ***

Love is something you do. Do you really love someone? Let’s see how you act toward that person. You show love by what you do, not just by what you feel.

Love is more than attraction and more than arousal. It’s also more than sentimentality, like so many of today’s songs suggest. By this standard, is love dead when the emotion is gone? No, not at all. Because love is an action; love is a behavior.

Over and over again, in the Bible, God commands us to love each other. And you can’t command an emotion. If I told you “Be sad!” right now, you couldn’t be sad on cue. Just like an actor, you can fake it, but you’re not wired for your emotions to change on command. Have you ever told a little kid, “Be happy!” I’m trying, daddy!

If love were just an emotion, then God couldn’t command it. But love is something you do. It can produce emotion, but love is an action.

The Bible says, “Let us stop just saying we love each other; let us really show it by our actions” (1 John 3:18 NLT). We can talk a good act: “I love people.” But do we really love them? Do you really love them? Our love is revealed in how we act toward them.

Inspiration & Hope / Love Is A Choice
December 01, 2008, 10:16:52 AM
by Rick Warren

… That you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Deuteronomy 30:20 (NIV)

*** *** *** ***

Love is a choice and a commitment. You choose to love or you choose not to love.

Today we’ve bought into this myth that love is uncontrollable, that it’s something that just happens to us; it’s not something we control. In fact, even the language we use implies the uncontrollability of love. We say, “I fell in love,” as if love is some kind of a ditch. It’s like I’m walking along one day and bam! â€" I fell in love. I couldn’t help myself.

But I have to tell you the truth â€" that’s not love. Love doesn’t just happen to you. Love is a choice and it represents a commitment.

There’s no doubt about it, attraction is uncontrollable and arousal is uncontrollable. But attraction and arousal are not love. They can lead to love, but they are not love. Love is a choice.

You must choose to love God; he won’t force you to love him (Deuteronomy 30:20). You can thumb your nose at God and go a totally different way. You can destroy your life if you choose to do that. God still won’t force you to love him. Because he knows love can’t be forced.

And this same principle is true about your relationships: you can choose to love others, but God won’t force you to love anyone.

Although Jesus’ coming as Messiah was first to the nation of Israel, he is given for all of us, all nations, all people. Death, war and violence will not exist in the Kingdom. What will it be like to live in a world with no wars, where everyone gets along?

ps

that´s what we need now!

I agree with you, Manay Tess, that we need peace in this world.  We may differ in our ideologies but the basic respect for human life should still be there.

At the recent terror attack in Mumbai, only the people with heart filled with vile can think of doing that.  May they find peace in their hearts and give peace to the world.

Dear Mari,  here's your birthday cake I made for you.  It's a chocolate cake with coconut, almond and custard filling and iced with buttercream and then fondant.  The flowers I manually made for you with sugar gum paste!  I hope you like this!  I tasted it for you since you can not eat it hehehhe

Let me try to help you, Mr. Gener, in translating what was earlier posted by Tita Lee.  I hope Tita Tess agrees with my translation though. :):

For me Gener, whether or not a person is saying the truth - even my husband, I will not judge because there is someone (referring to our God), who knows the real truth.  Besides, I will not be answerable to what he or she is saying.

Nong, mura ra diay ni'g, "if you can't beat them, join them"!  Ambot ba lang oi I came from family of gamblers man gud and it has been proven to be a downfall sa among family so naturally, I abhor gambling.  I just can't be convinced that gambling is good for the community.  I agree, dako na sya'ng source of income for the city but then again, we got to realize that the money comes from somewhere else and probably, that's money intended for tuition or for food.  Kining atong argument na naa naman pod nag proliferate na mga illegal gambling.  Tungod man ni kay wa man na enforce ug tarong ang balaud and how sure are we that legalizing gambling will eradicate illegal gambling.  Sabagay bias man pod ko'g point of view ani kay as I said, I abhor gambling.  But I see your point bya, Nong! :D

Ambassador Hilario Davide Jr., Permanent Representative of the Philippines to the United Nations has made U-N history by becoming only the second recepient of the prestigious “Spirit of the UN” Award.

This is another proud moment for all of us Filipinos, as the former chief justice of the Supreme Court was cited for his exemplary work on promoting spirituality and values in the world body.

Davide, who became the Philippines top diplomat to the United Nations in 2007, received the award in ceremonies held at the Dag Hammarksjold Auditorium at the UN Headquarters on October 20.

The first ever awardee was Ambassador Anwarul Chowdhury of Bangladesh for his life-long dedication to peace, human rights, and justice.

The UN-based non-government organization Committee on Spirituality, Values and Global Concerns (CSVGC), which is a committee of the Conference of NGOs in consultative status with the UN, conferred the crystal award to Davide for exemplifying the aspects of spirituality and values in his work and daily life.

In his acceptance remarks, Davide said he was accepting the award not only for himself but also for the Philippines, the Philippine Mission to the UN, and many others who have focused attention to global concerns.

He stressed the award as especially significant as it also symbolized the sacredness of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights.

“Spirituality is a communion and an abiding relationship with Almighty God who, according to the Book of Wisdom, made all things by His word and established man to govern the world in holiness and justice and render judgment in integrity of heart,” the ambassador said.

Ay gi interview sha ni Barang Walters! yes buros na sad si Pareng Tomas...

What is a Man?  What is A Woman?  by Barbara Walters tonight at 10 p.m.

This person was a woman but been "legalized" as a man.  She had her breasts removed, took male hormones, "legally" changed her gender from female to male bu it will not change the fact that she came to this world as a girl. Therefore, it is not surprising that as a woman she can bear a child.  Kumbaga, it's not rocket science.

Daghan theories that I heard from the pundits.  McCain thought thatby choosing Palin as his running mate, they can capture the women votes that were disappointed when Hillary didn't win the primary and when Obama didn't chose her to be his VP running mate. It was supposedly a good 18M votes.  Another one was to bring a 'young blood" in the ticket kay McCain was 72 years old, the oldest candidate to run for president.  Sarah Palin just turned 44.

I always hear McCain said that he liked Palin because she was just like him, a MAVERICK!
