Puede pod ka magpa custom made based sa imong specification. Murag ilang gi sundog ang Rolls Royce nga made to order.

Planes Create 'Total Panic' in Manhattan
By SARA KUGLER

NEW YORK (April 27) - One of the president's official planes and a supersonic fighter jet zoomed past the lower Manhattan skyline in a flash just as the work day was beginning Monday. Within minutes, startled financial workers streamed out of their offices, fearing a nightmarish replay of
Some Manhattan residents got a brief scare Monday morning when a Boeing 747, above, and a military jet flew low over the city, causing alarm among people near ground zero. It turned out the 747, which is used by the president, and the other plane were part of a government photo opportunity.

For a half-hour, the Boeing 747 and F-16 jet circled the Statue of Liberty and the lower Manhattan skyline near the World Trade Center site. Offices evacuated. Dispatchers were inundated with calls. Witnesses thought the planes were flying dangerously low.
But the flyover was nothing but a photo op, apparently one of a series of flights to get pictures of the president's airliner in front of national landmarks.

It was carried out by the Defense Department with little warning, infuriating New York officials and putting the White House on the defense. Even Mayor Michael Bloomberg didn't know about it, and he later called it "insensitive" to fly so near the site of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
The director of the White House military office, Louis Caldera, took the blame a few hours later. The airliner was a 747 that is called Air Force One when used by the president.

"Last week, I approved a mission over New York. I take responsibility for that decision," Caldera said. "While federal authorities took the proper steps to notify state and local authorities in New York and New Jersey, it's clear that the mission created confusion and disruption. I apologize and take responsibility for any distress that flight caused."

When told of the flight, President Barack Obama was furious, a White House official said on the condition of anonymity to discuss private conversations.

Still, federal officials provided few details and wouldn't say why the public and area building security managers weren't notified. They also wouldn't address why someone thought it was a wise decision to send two jets into New York City, all for a few photos with the Statue of Liberty as a backdrop.

An administration official said the purpose of the photo op was to update file photos of the president's plane near the Lady Liberty.

This official said the White House military office told the Federal Aviation Administration that it was updating file photos of Air Force One near national landmarks, such as the statute in the New York harbor and the Grand Canyon. The official requested anonymity to give more details than the official White House announcement.
An Air Force combat photographer took pictures from one of the fighter jets, administration officials said.

The photo op was combined with a training exercise to save money, according to another administration official who also spoke on condition of anonymity because she was not authorized to speak publicly about the behind-the-scenes discussions about the flight.

The FAA notified the New York Police Department of the flyover, telling them photos of the Air Force One jet would be taken about 1,500 feet above the Statue of Liberty around 10 a.m. Monday. It had a classified footnote that said "information in this document shall not be released to the public or the media."

"Why the Defense Department wanted to do a photo op right around the site of the World Trade Center catastrophe defies the imagination," Bloomberg said. "Poor judgment would be a nice ways to phrase it. ... Had I known about it, I would have called them right away and asked them not to."

NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said typically a flight like this would be publicized to avoid causing a panic, but they were under orders not to in this case. They regularly get requests for flyovers, but without secrecy restrictions.

The FAA also alerted an official in the mayor's office, but he didn't tell Bloomberg, who said he first learned about it when his "BlackBerry went off crazy with people complaining about it."
The Bloomberg official who was notified was Marc Mugnos, director of operations for the Office of Citywide Event Coordination and Management. Mugnos didn't immediately respond to questions about why he didn't tell the mayor; Bloomberg's spokesman Stu Loeser issued a statement saying: "He has been reprimanded and a disciplinary letter will be placed in his file."
Workers in lower Manhattan were stunned by what they saw.

John Leitner, a floor trader at the New York Mercantile Exchange Building, said about 1,000 people "went into a total panic" and ran out of the building around 10 a.m. after seeing the planes whiz nearby.
"We were informed after we cleared out of there," Leitner said. "I kind of think heads should roll a little bit on that."
....
Air Force spokesman Vince King said the "photo mission" involved one of two VC-25 aircraft. The aircraft is part of the Presidential Airlift Wing, based at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland.
The F-16 jet that flew alongside came from the D.C. National Guard's 113th fighter wing.
"This was a photo shoot. There was no need for surprise," Sen. Charles Schumer said. "There was no need to scare thousands of New Yorkers who still have the vivid memory of 9/11."
Associated Press writers Sara Kugler and Colleen Long in New York and Joan Lowy, Michael J. Sniffen, Phil Elliott and Anne Gearan in Washington, D.C., contributed to this report.

World Daily News / $1 Billion A Day For Stimulus

$1 billion A Day For Stimulus

The Obama administration has committed $75 billion in stimulus money in 10 weeks. So far $14.5 billion has been spent, mostly for Medicaid.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- The federal government has made available more than $75 billion for stimulus projects in the 10 weeks since President Obama signed the $787 billion recovery package into law.

Not all of that money has hit the streets, however. So far, $14.5 billion has been spent, nearly all of it to help states cope with rising Medicaid costs.

A CNNMoney.com analysis of the program's financial reports shows how difficult it is to quickly inject billions of dollars into the economy. Experts interviewed said they are not surprised by the pace of spending, though they had mixed views on whether the effort would boost the economy.

"There's a natural tension between using taxpayers' money in a prudent way and getting the money out the door quickly," said Isabel Sawhill, a Brookings Institution senior fellow.

The massive recovery package was designed to stimulate the economy and create jobs, as well as assist states and people suffering from the recession by providing funding for education, Medicaid and other public services.

The federal government is now tasked with putting $499 billion to work in coming years. The remaining $288 billion consists of tax relief, the signature program of which, the Making Work Pay credit, began earlier this month.

The Obama administration says it is satisfied with the pace of spending and should meet its goal of making 70% of the funds available by September 2010. So far, about 15% has been committed.

"We're ahead of schedule and making steady progress," said Liz Oxhorn, a press secretary for Vice President Joe Biden, who is heading the recovery effort. "We're pleased."

Still, the funding must pass over several hurdles before the federal government considers it "spent."

Some dollars can flow relatively quickly through existing channels to the intended recipient, be it state and local governments, nonprofit agencies or private contractors. It's also easier to get funds for projects that were already in the works and just needed funding.

Other money, however, remains in federal agencies' hands waiting to be distributed. Many would-be recipients are still wading through all the recovery program's requirements or waiting for guidance from federal agencies before they put in requests.

Lastly, a significant amount of funding won't be made available until recipients either sign contracts or file grant applications. And in some cases, new programs must be created before the money can flow.

How one agency is spending the money

Take the Department of Health and Human Services, which is distributing $137 billion. It has made available nearly $29 billion to the states, who've claimed $13.3 billion as of April 17, according to an agency report.

Just under $13.2 billion has gone to states to help them pay for Medicaid services. That funding has been able to move so quickly because it was the first pool of money the federal government made available and it's being pumped through an established program. States have also received some funds for foster care and adoption assistance and for new community health centers.

But another $100 million for senior services -- such as nutrition programs at senior centers and Meals on Wheels -- is sitting unclaimed. States are in the process of requesting their share of the money as they figure out how to navigate the federal program and assess their needs back home.

And the $1 billion slated for prevention and wellness programs hasn't even been committed because the agency is still working out details, said spokesman Nick Papas. Specifics should be announced in early summer.

Meanwhile, the department is working to push more dollars out the door, Papas said.

"Recovery Act dollars are keeping community health centers open and helping care for more Americans in need," Papas said. "We continue to work quickly and carefully to distribute Recovery Act dollars in an open and transparent manner."

Does it need to be spent faster?

Handing out nearly $500 billion in a responsible manner is not easy, experts said.

"You can only spend so much money really fast," said Michael Ettlinger, vice president for economic policy at the left-leaning Center for American Progress.

He's expecting a flood of money to hit the streets once the states file their requests and grant applications. But that doesn't mean the recovery bill isn't having an effect. The economy is already being helped by the program's tax credits, though that spending is harder to measure, he said.

Because the weak economy is expected to linger, there's a benefit to doling out the recovery dollars slowly, said Sawhill, the Brookings economist. Though she's disappointed with the pace of spending so far, she understands why it takes time.

"The fact that the money is not being spent all in the beginning is not a bad thing, though you do want to stop the downward spiral," she said.

Other experts are skeptical as to whether the recovery program will help at all. Alan Viard, resident scholar at the conservative American Enterprise Institute, has questioned from the beginning whether constructing highways and bridges -- which the administration says will create lots of jobs -- will really stimulate the economy.

"I don't think the infrastructure spending is likely to spend out at a fast enough rate," Viard said.

Cars and Automotive / What Killed Pontiac (GM)

What killed Pontiac
GM pulls the plug on a brand credited with originating the muscle car.

NEW YORK (CNN.com) -- The Pontiac car brand, once marketed as General Motors' "excitement division," will be killed off by the end of next year, the carmaker announced Monday.

The decision to shutter Pontiac was one of several aggressive steps GM spelled out in an updated survival plan Monday. The government has given the company until the end of next month to restructure and slim down in order to survive.

The new GM will focus on four core brands: Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac.

The fate of three other troubled lines -- Saturn, Saab and Hummer -- will be decided at a later date, GM said. They are likely to be sold off or shut down, while Pontiac will be shuttered.

Pontiac's problem was not sales, GM Chief Executive Fritz Henderson indicated during a conference call Monday. In 2008, Pontiac was the company's third-best selling brand behind Chevrolet and GMC and sold twice as many vehicles as Buick, a brand that will apparently survive the changes at GM.

The problem for Pontiac has been profitability. GM doesn't generally break out profits by brand, but Buick and GMC, which are sold in dealerships alongside Pontiacs, are more profitable, Henderson said.

"We didn't have a strategy that we were satisfied with that would allow us to win with the Pontiac brand," he said.
Roots in the 1950s

Pontiac's identity as a "performance" brand dates back to the late 1950s and early 1960s. Pontiac cars were designed with wider bodies for cosmetic reasons and the wheels were pushed out to match. This "wide-track" design became a selling point and was advertised as giving Pontiac cars a distinct cornering advantage over other cars.

The idea of Pontiac as a performance brand was solidified in 1964 with the creation of the Pontiac Tempest LeMans GTO. That car quickly evolved into the GTO and is often credited with creating a new class of American car, the muscle car.

"There was a time, a long way back now, when you knew exactly what Pontiac stood for," said Kevin Smith, editorial director for the automotive Web site Edmunds.com.

More recently, under vice chairman Bob Lutz, GM tried to revive Pontiac's image.

One strategy floated for Pontiac was to sell only, or mostly, rear-wheel-drive cars. That would have set it apart from other GM divisions, and most cars sold in America. Rear-wheel-drive is associated with performance brands like BMW.

Unfortunately, the 2004 model year reintroduction of the Pontiac GTO name on a performance coupe imported from Australia didn't result in big sales. So far, the Pontiac G8, a rear-wheel-drive four-door sedan also imported from GM's Australian Holden division, hasn't been a sales success either despite good reviews.

Pontiac's most popular products remain the G6, a decent but unexciting midsize car available as a sedan, coupe or convertible, and the Vibe, a small wagon shared with Toyota, which sells it as the Matrix.

Any plans to return Pontiac to the heavy-horsepower days of the 1970s ended as gas prices rose and Congress prepared stricter fuel economy rules for the industry.

In response to those pressures, GM quietly introduced the Pontiac G3, which had been sold in Canada only. Once again, Pontiac was selling a rebadged Chevrolet product, this time the Korean-built Aveo subcompact car.

Pontiac's lack of focus as a brand may finally have brought its demise, said Smith. "That's just death in a marketplace where there's so much competition and so much quality," he said.

apan sukmati ayaw kining iyang pangisip, milupad
ngadto sa nagkahanap nga panganod sa kalibog
ug sud-ongon na lang ang balatian, mikapaykapay
aron pagsakmit na sad ngadto sa wanang
kang papa

lakaw sa
ako na sad ang mosapnay
sa mabug-at nga palas-unon nakita
ko's iyang mga mata, miangkla
sa kong mga abaga
ug balik ngari unya, mopaagas
kita sa mga luha
basin na lang matagbaw
kining gutom nga kangitngit, misakmit
sa tukbilong pangisip
ni papa

nitupad ako sa paglinkod
ako siyang gipangutana
kinsa ako? unsay akong ngalan?
nanghawid siya sa pisi
sa iyang panumduman
kalooy sa akong amahan, nakabuhi
ang iyang hugot nga kapyot
ug sa unang higayon natagak
ang mga pulong niya kanako
"ikaw si pedro, usa ka sundalo"
ug gihagkan ko
si papa

ma,

Did you know, naa na poy kalamay nga ubi ug kalbasa. Mapalit kini sa BQ. Ok ra ang ubi. Ang kalbasa, di pa ko convinced. Kalamay is also made in Albur and Tubigon, nagpaduol sa mga pantalan. Kon maoy gamiton, mas mahal kon pun-on.

naa ba kaha pod na silay secret recipe, no? kay lami man jud nang sa Can-opao.

For me that is bizzare for a wife who should be mourning instead. Then whats more bizzare is the court scene from last week the tears, the saying how you had missed him and that she was seperated in December from her husband it is just so contradicting on her part.

This is not normal behavior for such a case as this.

I know this Bich and her family are bad news

Philippines a nation of servants? You could take this in a positive way you know... like what's said in the Bible "he who serves will be greatest in the Kingdom of heaven." As a Christian nation we take pride in being called "servants" for many of us are... we serve God and we serve for the common good. I would take exception of course those who have become engrossed with filling their own pockets  and self-serving - but we still have a number who have character, the so-called seed that fell on good ground... the small mustard seed that's prophesied to grow into the biggest of shrubs where birds of the air can rest and make their nests... with the appearance of hope against hope, but nonetheless a little glim of light warm enough to sustain us during the cold winter. I think our reactions to this tag circle around the ego-thingy! That's my personal perception. Or if my thoughts are counter-cultural enough for some more bloody-reactions, then let's prove otherwise that we're not!
