I was not even aware of this incident and I am sorry Ate Anel for what happened. Pero I have to speak for my friend Hajji, because from all the times ive known him here, he never once came across as negative at all. He's a good man, and funny one at it. I hope we all can forgive one another and learn from this. Okay? We are Boholanos, and we shouldnt fight amongsts ourselves, there are people out there that want our disunity....and we shouldn't give in to it.

Im sorry, Pare, hope we can talk on yahoo about this.
Ate Anel, sorry pood that this happened to you, i hope that both of you can find it in your heart to forgive and forget. Let bygones be bygones..

Truly,

oo diuretic na, 'te. Okey ra man to drink, pero not so frequent--because excessive black coffee consumption can lead to caffeinism. It increases heartbeat, respiration, basal metabolic rate, and the production of stomach acid and urine; and it relaxes smooth muscles, notably the bronchial muscle. These symptoms start anywhere from fifteen to forty five minutes after caffeine is consumed, except the central nervous system which is hit between thirty and sixty minutes after ingestion.  But these times depend on the person's hormonal status, whether he/she smokes or takes medications, or has a disease that impairs liver functioning. Gastric ulcers are caused by extensive/long term black coffee intake; as well as cardiac arythmia (irregular heart beats); and those who cardiac problems (hypertensive, high blood pressure, or had cardiothoracic surger) are advised jud not to take black coffee or any caffeine-based drinks.

Ang key ana is "Drink with moderation".

STOCKHOLM, Sweden - Hackers in Turkey have attacked more than 5,000 Swedish Web sites in the past week, and at least some of the sabotage appears linked to Muslim anger over a Swedish newspaper drawing that depicted the Prophet Muhammad's head on a dog's body.

Around 1,600 Web sites hosted by server-provider Proinet and 3,800 sites hosted by another company have been targeted, Proinet spokesman Kjetil Jensen said Sunday. Jensen said hackers, operating on a Turkish network, at times replaced files on the sites with messages.

According to Swedish news agency TT, the Web site of a children's cartoon called Bamse was replaced by a message saying Islam's prophet had been insulted.

The incidents have been reported to the police.

Islamic law is generally interpreted to forbid any depiction of the prophet, even favorable, for fear it could lead to idolatry. Dogs also are considered unclean by conservative Muslims.

The Swedish newspaper Nerikes Allehanda published the drawing by artist Lars Vilks in an Aug. 19 editorial. It triggered protests from Swedish Muslim groups and formal complaints from Muslim countries, including Pakistan and Iran. An insurgent leader in Iraq, Abu Omar al-Baghdadi, put a $100,000 bounty on Vilks' head.

Similar caricatures of the prophet, first published in 2005 by a Danish newspaper and reprinted in other European newspapers, triggered furious street protests in Muslim countries.

Stefan Grinneby, head of the Swedish communication watchdog's Internet incident center Sitic, said attacks against Swedish Web sites from Turkey, a predominantly Muslim country, have increased in the past three weeks. Some contained messages alluding to the drawing.

"You would need a very large police investigation to establish the connection to the prophet drawings, but considering the increase in recent weeks it is a fair assumption to make," he said.

Vilks said recently that he has no regrets about his portrayal of Muhammad, despite receiving death threats. He said Muslims living in the West would have to get used to disrespectful drawings of their religious symbols, "because here in the West we mock everything."

He also said he may convert the dispute into a musical, with prominent roles depicting Iran's president, Sweden's prime minister and al-Qaida terrorists.

SEOUL, South Korea - The South Korean president said Monday the global standoff over North Korea's nuclear weapons programs will soon be resolved, as U.S. experts prepared to travel to Pyongyang to form a plan for disabling the country's reactors.

"I'm confident the North Korean nuclear issue will rapidly arrive at a complete resolution," South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun said, citing a detailed multilateral agreement aimed at the North's denuclearization that was approved by the leaders of the two Koreas.

Roh's speech was read in the National Assembly by Prime Minister Han Duck-soo.

The president traveled to Pyongyang last week for talks with Kim Jong Il for the first inter-Korean summit in seven years.

The leaders signed an accord pledging to make "joint efforts to ensure the smooth implementation" of agreements made at a new round of six-nation talks involving the two Koreas, the U.S., China, Russia and Japan.

In those talks, held at the end of September in Beijing, North Korea agreed to disable its main nuclear facilities and declare all its programs by the end of this year.

At the three-day meeting the leaders also agreed to cooperate in ending military hostility â€" highlighted by efforts to replace a Korean War-ending armistice with a peace treaty â€" and boost cross-border economic projects.

"Inter-Korean relations have entered a new phase," Roh said in the speech to lawmakers.

Separately, a team of U.S. nuclear experts, led by the State Department's top Korea expert, Sung Kim, prepared to depart for the North on Tuesday to create a plan for future teams to begin disabling the North's Yongbyon nuclear reactor.

The team, which includes technical experts from various U.S. government departments, will put in place a plan for its disablement, State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said earlier.

Other teams would then go to North Korea to disable it, he said.

A U.S. team of nuclear experts led by Sung Kim surveyed the North's main nuclear facilities last month.

The Yongbyon nuclear complex is believed to have produced enough plutonium for perhaps more than a dozen bombs â€" including the device North Korea detonated a year ago to prove its long-suspected nuclear capability.

South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported Sunday, without citing sources, that the North will likely start disabling its nuclear facilities in mid-October and that the process would take about 45 days.

The North is also likely to agree to removing core parts from its nuclear facilities and placing them under the oversight of the International Atomic Energy Agency to meet the deadline, Yonhap also said.

WOW Pare!

Friendship has of course the first priorities but if there is love in between, you can't help yourself.  I feel she likes you more than just a friend, it has nothing to do with ulterior motives on it. Let it runs in a smooth way and then you will know whether you stand in the right path ok?

Had a similar experienced, he was a very good looking friend, we did some kissing but up to that, i did not allow him to the extend coz for me our friendship counted much.....and there was  no sexual affections in my side.

Can you tell me what you did to smoothly solve the situation, pare?
For me it is very difficult, because my close friends are trying to hook me and her up. I feel like i want to keep the friendship. She is a very attractive and caring girl, who i trust. We'll see. If things build up..then maybe its meant to be. If it doesnt, then it wasn't.

Are you still close friends with your friend?

Bible Study / October: The Month of the Rosary
October 08, 2007, 08:32:58 AM
Blessed be God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, Is now and forever, Amen.
+++++++

October is the month of the rosary.

October 7
Our Lady of the Rosary

History and Background

The rosary developed over several centuries and can be traced to the 12th century prayer known as "Our Lady's Psalter." This consisted of praying 150 Hail Marys in place of reciting the 150 psalms, a practice popular among the mostly illiterate common people. At this time, however, only the first part of the Hail Mary was used. The Dominican order popularized the rosary and preached it throughout Europe. By the 16th century, the rosary had taken shape in the basic form we know today, and the second half of the Hail Mary was added ("Holy Mary, Mother of God...). The 150 Hail Marys were divided into decades, each one commemorating a mystery in the lives of Jesus and Mary.

The liturgical feast of the rosary was established in 1573 by St. Pius V, a Dominican pope who had great personal devotion to the prayer. He instituted the feast in thanksgiving for the Christian victory over the Turks in the battle of Lepanto. Because the feast falls in October, the entire month is dedicated to honoring Mary with the rosary.

Scripture

Various texts from the Common of the Blessed Virgin Mary may be selected. The following readings are suggested:

Acts of the Apostles 1:12-14

After Jesus had been taken up to heaven, the Apostles returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a sabbath day's journey away.

When they entered the city they went to the upper room where they were staying, Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James. All these devoted themselves with one accord to prayer, together with some women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.

Gospel: Luke 1:26-38

The angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David, and the virgin's name was Mary. And coming to her, he said, "Hail, full of grace! The Lord is with you." But she was greatly troubled at what was said and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. Then the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father, and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of his Kingdom there will be no end." But Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I have no relations with a man?" And the angel said to her in reply, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God. And behold, Elizabeth, your relative, has also conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren; for nothing will be impossible for God." Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word." Then the angel departed from her.

Thank you Pare!

Well, my mothers is already very old and sickly (on that photo she was 83 years young and Me 51 years old na tawon) that is the main reason that I am every year home bisan hapit na manglanggoy. 2001 amo na tawon na siyang gipakompisal ug gipadihog (last oil- bendisyon) sa hospital kay the Dr. said....it is over. Then she had a very young Heartspecialist (Dr. Angelito Lychago, he is a very good physician - million thanks to him, Dr. Sepe, her internist, and some other good Drs.) then a good looking guy her physical therapist who used to make some jokes with her."He asked her the first da....Mom, how old are you? She answered with a very lively-sweet smile. For you, because you are a very gwapo - 65 years old!" I told you, I am crazy like my Mama. Those perfect good attentions and care made her relieved and back to life.  My young hubby loves her very much.

Thank you so very much.....your hug and kisses will be warmthly extended, i just hope that she is quite well now,, she was again last year in an intensive care station due to other kasakitan and now her left eye is closed (blind) due to infections.  It had costs us Four thousand Euros (4,000 Euro) only 2 weeks hospitalization...but still that eye infection caused her this handicap.  This is a very sad reality in our country, no money - no cure - patay!  Just imagine,  since year 2000 she was almost every year confined for very5x expensive hospitalization.  But....it will not count, it is only material thing - money, important she is still kicking with us. And she is our existing main lovely strong Post, a very funny/she is a joker and our Family hold.

Sorry pare,...nang hilak ko after i read your post.. :'( :'(

Naka remember lang ko sa ahong Lola Nating--after looking at your mom's face--and the smile that she has. I'll include your momma in my prayers today when I go to church. Kai bao ka pare, okey lang if mahal ang hospitalization sa imung momma, ang importante is that she is still alive and breathing diba? God has blessed her with such a beautiful and charismatic daughter!!! You!!!! And bless you pare for being very loving to your family, not many are like that. And im sure your momma, of course, is very proud of you uy...!  :)

Ako pare, mo hilak jud ko whenever i think about my Lola Nating kai she was very lively in life...mo ratatat jud na siya Lola uy hahaha, i miss her huggs, i miss the way she used to put me on her lap and sing to me when i was a little kid, always jud na si lola mo sing nako-- :'(
God took her away from us in July 16th, 1998---couple of days before we were planning to go back to Philippines. Internal bleeding man si lola kai naa man siya history of kidney infections (mao jud na ang health problem for most chinese---kai si lola was Chinese). Mo hilak lang ko--kai i dont ever want to loose my mom. My mom is very much like my Lola--and so much of my lola is in her, mo thank lang ko to the good Lord for giving me memories of my lola. Ayaw jud pa give up sa imung momma, pare. She looks like she is a strong woman, and a fiest soul hahaha! Bol-anon gud, duba? hahaha!

Pare, give your momma my hugs and kisses hah? Sige, God Bless YOU!

Always.

i do weightlifting as well pero sa house ra...i want to gain muscles..

Teng,

What do you focus more on, upper body or lower body? Ning talk ko sa ahong trainer nako--and he said ug gusto kono ta mo pa dako atong pectoralis muscle, mo bench jud ta. Ang regimen kono 5 sets of 10 reps each. Ning follow jud ko sa iyang gi sulti nako--and na dako jud ahong pectoralis. Last month, weak ra kaayo ko. I started bench at 110 lbs, pero now, ning progress ko to 165lbs bench. Dili ko gusto mo increase sa bench weight kai gusto ra ko mo firm sa anterior portion of the thoracic ug abdominopelvic area.

What do you do for work out, Teng?

Btw, i recommend you go jogging when the girls jog as well..hahahaha. great view ba ja! ;)

Filipinos justifiably take pride int he fact that their nationalistic and revolutionary traditions are the oldest in south east asia, particulary from the standpoint of overt systematic efforts designed to expel the colonial rulers and attain independence. Thus the fact that there has been a resurgence of Philippine nationalism during the past decade in one sense should not have been unexpected in view of its relatively  long history. Nonetheless, because of the pragmatic and moderate nature of the nationalism prior to the 1960s, many observers of the Philippine political scene were surprised both by the rapidity in which resurgence ocurred and by the extent to which it came to reflect the impact of radical interpretations of Philippine society generally and of the Philippine-American relations specifically.

Yet the nationalist movement undoubtedly would have developed even more rapidly and more radically than it has, but for the fact that a number of fundamental issues divided the ranks of its adherents in the 1960s. We need to describe the nature of those divisions by examining the social dynamics underlying the nationalist revival in the Philippines. We also need to focus on the principal societal sectors and groups involved in the nationalist movement, with emphasis on the factors that have hampered their efforts to achieve unity, both internally and externally.

Philippine nationalism reached unprecedented heights of intensity during the last years of Spanish control, as manifested in the revolutionary movement in teh late 1890s, and remained strong throughout the American occupation. After World War II, however, it declined considerably as a political factor. In part the decline can be attributed to the impact of the war, which compelled Fiilpinos to contrast the treatment they recieved from the Japanese and the Americans. More positively, the comparatively benign American colonial policy, at least was contrasted with that of Spain, had served to win Filipino loyalty and gratitude. Additionally, it was only natural for nationalistic sentiment to die down after the Philippines gained its independence in 1946.

The revival of nationalism following the relatively quiescent period of the 1950s is the result primarily of the emergence of the new generation of Filipinos. This generation, since it did not mature during the American period, has a background and outlook quite different from those of its predecessors. These differences have been reflected in the rise of new issues that dominate the concerns of nationalists, perhaps the chief one being an intense and emotional search for a national identity. This takes the form of a desire for closer ties with Asians; coversely, it is manifested by growth of so called 'Anti-Americanism', which is amed not only at gaining economic as well as political independence but also at demonstrating to Asian nations that the Philippines is not the American puppet that somet think it is. Finally, the resurgent Filipino nationalism can be explained by the improvement in economic conditions of the Philippines since WWII, Moro Wars, 97 financial crisis, which in turn has helped lessen the extent of the country's economic dependence upon the United States.

The nature and significance of thse changes first became clear insofar as their political implications were concerned, during the period from mid 1964 to mid 1965, at which time a series of unprecedented anti-American demonstrations occurred. The intensity of the nationalistic feeling that ensued shook the previously complacent American assumption that the "special relationship" between the two countries would continue indefinitely with minimum friction. The events that took place during the mid 1960s were not the usual incidents or irritants of sonly limited import; not only did they occur within the three most sensitiev areas of contact between the two countries- trade, investment and military relations-but their cumulative impact further magnified their reprecussions. One result was that the potential support for nationalism on the part of certain key sectors of the urban Filipino society (labor, business, students and intellectuals) for perhaps the first time was activated simultaneously on behalf of the nationalist cause.

I agree with that Mike. We have too many cronyism in our politics, and too much porkbarelling. We need younger, and new politicians. Enough with the old, and in with the new.

We also need to stop electing actors and actresses in politics. Its such a shame, when we have so much talent and so much possibilities with the youth. Most of these actors have no secondary and post-secondary education at all. And we are trusting them to run our industry, economy, military? Look at what happened to Estrada. We need to elect officials that are experienced in the beaurocracy, and look to new leaders in our graduates from law school etc.

The country needs to stop electing entertainers. If Rizal, Aguinaldo and Bonifacio could how things are now, they would keel in their graves with agony...

That is true, Ate.

I cant help but feel a sense of superiority for the Filipino in comparison to other countries in the region. I dont think the Philippines needs to compare ourselves with nations like Thailand or Vietnam etc. These countries are developing and also third world, we, as a third world nation, need to compare and modify our policies to those of successful countries such as Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, South Korea etc. The strengths of the Philippines comes not in natural resources (to an extent it does, but not prime) but in the education system of the country and the demographics of our society. The Philippines, a nation of almost 100 million people, has a national literacy rate of over 92%, with the country very fluent in English  and the native languages, we have thousands of technocrats that are hard working and globally-respected in terms of work ethic. We are too educated, as a people, to settle for less such as the sweat shops found in Vietnam, China and Thailand. And why should we? Our people deserve the best. I dont want to down grade the neighbouring countries, but I have not come into contact of Thai or Chinese doctors, nurses, engineers, pharmacists, and teachers here in the United States in the same frequency and number as that of the Filipino.

In the professional field, everyone knows Filipinos are hard working, exceptionally smart, and humble in their work.

The Philippines I see in the 21st century is a hegemon in service industry. Our country has everything, massive man power, vast natural resources, high education, work ethic, which places the country in the verge of a national boom (happening already as our gdp grows at 7.5%). Bring in the foreign investments---and you will see the rise of our bayan. Give it 4-5 decades.

Good morning guys, its a great Saturday! Gonna go to the homecoming event today. So what are your plans for the weekend, guys?

The Philippines economic plan is following the path of nations such as India and Malaysia, which is more service oriented. Look at the amount of foreign investment in the IT sphere in the country, as well as the rising banking systems in the country--and this will continue to rise as foreign demand for high skilled laborers in the Philippines is at hand. The Philippines, unlike China and Thailand, graduates thousands of highly skilled individuals in the engineering, medical, teaching, banking fields every year--and are employed abroad, unlike the manufacturing-oriented economies of the region.

Ate Belle did bring up a great point. Why would the Philippines need to import raw materials from Thailand and China considering the Philippines itself is endowed with rich natural resources? Forgive me for being limited in the fields of economics and marketing, perhaps Mr. Ferniz and others could care to explain this?
Thanks.

Pero he's an actor. He should just stay in the entertainment industry. Media and politics should not mix, IMO. Take a look at Estrada, a perfect example.
