Good thing your friend was fine, Kiams. Salamat sa Dios wa siya gi igo sa adtong koreano. Bitaw, one thing about foreigners is that they need to respect the local customs, because this is the Philippines not their Korea.

I have some Korean friends here, and I tend not to hang out with them as much because whenever we hang out they drink excessively. And they are very violent people. I had one who hit my back when he was drunk,  I had to keep him pinned down (he was cursing and going violent while i kept him down). The next morning, he woke up and didn't even remember what he did. All the while, I had to restrain myself form punching the guy, lol

From personal experiences with them, they're just insensitive. They expect others to be sensitive to their beliefs but they do not reciprocate thesame to those who have faith.

Worst part, they poison the mind of young teens especially those who are attention seeking teenagers;  depreived by parents attention, so ang bata intawn, thinking this is his/her long lost family, ma apil sa gubot..and those are the young ones who kill or rob kay as what you said Lorz it's like their passes to be a full pledged member.. hmph! atot uy

Yes, the functionalities of gangs are the same way as cults. Their target troubled youths (in between high school and college age), indoctrinate them with the use of re-identification.

I volunteered in a counseling center for troubled teens in the spring of 06' and aided therapists in talking to some of these youth. One case I remember that touched me was of a young man who was 16 years old, was sexually molested by his father and he ran away from home. He was caught in the fringes of the Moon cult in Erie, and managed to run away to a local counseling center after 1 year of stay with them.

Sad kaayo because these individuals have no one, literally, no one. So these cults or gangs ultimately become their source of support. Their family, so to say. Assimilation, therefore, becomes natural. Pero there are those, like the individual who I had the chance in helping, who run away from these negative groups. Pero you know its not fair for some because counseling centers are not available for all people, depends on where one is.

I personally don't understand what is the big deal with non-Christians and atheists towards Christian believers. That is their own personal ideology, its such a narcissistic charade that some people have going around tooting how they don't believe in a religion.

Everyone should have the right to practice religion, however, some Americans need to understand that this country was founded on the basis of Christian religious freedom. Catholics, Puritans, Anglicans, Lutherans, Orthodox believers etc, came to this country for that simple right. To worship God in their own way, even the founding fathers, all of them were Christians, one was a deist, however, the concept of 'God' was tantamount in the American Bill of Rights, American Writ of Complaint Against His Majesty King George III and His Royal Parliament, and the American Declaration of Independence from Royal Sovereignty.

God was always a factor.

This country has gone beyond secular, it is ultra-secular. Where anything is possible, satanists, cultists, anarchists, etc form groups and popularize it. Look at the television shows we watch, the music the  youth of this country is given access to. Its almost depressing seeing where we came from and where we are.

This country needs conservancy, to reclaim the fleeting morality.

I'll end this with a rhetorical question, What does it really mean to be an American, nowadays? Exactly.
#46622
I am in total opposition of this, the President of the Philippines needs to focus on national matters not on personal and private calls. Vecina is guilty of killing an innocent life and injuring the children that were entrusted to her care; and by the gravity of her actions, she deserves justice that the host country has placated on her. It would be totally unfair for the criminal to receive pardon or life sentence knowing that she took a life and had the malevolent intention of killing others as well as herself.

There is no justice in that.

#46623
Kiams,

Is Cebu like a popular 'spring break' destination for Korean students?
#46624
I've never personally come into contact with gang members, but I've seen some of them before in my drive around Philadelphia and parts of Pittsburgh. It amuses me how these individuals shoot and kill one another for access to opioids and other drug paraphernalia to sell in the streets. They live by a colloquially termed "Street Rules", as if such rules ever contributed or affected the general populace.

I have little sympathy for gang members, they live in a vice-ridden society and their actions only aid in ostracizing themselves from society's main stream. Going to jail for them is a right of passage, pathetic, in that they gain some kind of 'street props' due to it. As mundane and infantile as their customs are, it does happen and it does take its toll on not only civilian life, but law enforcement lives. The rising gangs in the US that are found in large urban areas are usually race-related. You find alot of latino gangs, black bangs, white supremacist gangs.

My views on them: Lock them all up, or castrate every single one of them so that they do not live to propagate. As their offspring are eventually raised in such a lifestyle and continue in that way of life. Gang members are criminal outsiders, non conformists that live to sell drugs, breed inauspiciously and ultimately continue this parasitic way of life.

Society's failures.

Yes bitaw, one of my rules that is enforced strictly whenever we're in the lab room is no shorts, nor flip flops, for girls-no hair longer than your shoulders, or at least tied in a not, no low shirts that shows bellybuttons, no eating, no drinking, no smoking, no drug paraphernalia in lab rooms. Pero in lecture rooms they are allowed to bring food and some drinks b/c we meet quite early in the morning during lab lecture.

This is just basic rules kai ug dili sila mo follow, ako man responsible for their safety, specially when we're dealing with blue flame, titration, acids, and spectrometers.

I told them in the beginning of the class: If you do not expect to follow my rules, do not expect to pass my class.

My 2ndary rule for them is : You are taking a 300 level biology course, please dress appropriately that distinguishes yourself.

Strict ra sigoro ko, pero, di man ko willing to take the chance of someone getting hurt, and endangering myself and my professors above me.

Its a product of mass secularization, Mr. Ferniz.

Here in America, religion no longer reigns supreme. Individuality is pronounced and stressed.
This is the land were atheists demand the removal of "In God we Trust" in currency, or the removal of any religious iconography in any public and private institution.

In a way this country has traded its christian bearings away for a progressive society, but a result of removing christian morality is the manifestation of nihilism and pragmatism that we see today.

but SARS was really a threat, right?

SARs is a threat for nations with handicapped medical systems per se China, South East Asia and the whole of the third world. First world nations such as the United States, Canada, Western Europe have ample facilities to treat such cases, and manipulate prevention. Its no longer a problem as there are medications available to combat such an infection; if untreated however, death is invertible.

As for this new disease,  Bartonella rochalimae, its rather interesting in that its gram negative, meaning it has a rather thin peptidoglycan layer and an LPS mechanism that can ostracize itself from an auto-immune response. The sicker the individual is, the more rapid the infection; so the target hosts will be those who are immuno-suppressed per se HIV patients (who therein suffer from a lack of a decreased immune system), the elderly, and children. Like typical pathogens, this new disease is vector-oriented, meaning its transmitted vis-a-vis a carrier form (mosquitoe).

Best form of protection is always prevention.

MACROHON - What a waste! Was the feeling that dominated the tearful farewell for Ruby Jade Ruba, the 20 year old nursing graduate of a Cebu university who was killed for her cell phone by members of the dreaded “CRIPS” gang that has been terrorizing students of the university.
“I want justice for my daughter,” cried her mother Margie. “Those hoodlums  deprived me of the only daughter God had given me. It’s hard for me to accept she is gone and will never return, and that I’ll never be able to embrace or speak to her again. She was my inspiration!” Margie who is the principal of the Villa Jacinta Elementary School related during her emotional eulogy that had the entire congregation in tears.
Ruby Jade’s father, Victor, a coast guard officer narrated how he had strived  to give Ruby what she needed, even though he was financially hard up. He said she tried her best to excell because she knew how happy it would make them. “I use to wash her uniforms because I knew she had no time to do it herself.”
Ruba’s prom gown, embroidered with beads, was displayed on its mannequin in their living room during the six-day wake in barangay Lower Villa Jacinta.
Its tailor refused to accept payment for it after learning of Ruby’s death said Richie, Ruby’s older brother. He said his sister had planned to pick up the gown that Sunday.
Ruby’s violent death that tragic Thursday on Governor Roa Street drew public attention to Cebu’s unlighted streets and rising crime rate by teenage gang members on motorcycles.
Ruby’s younger brother Ranvic, who is taking up customs administration in Cebu, said would shift to a school in Tacloban City where it was safer. He said he was afraid that members of the “CRIPS” gang would continue to victimize helpless people like his sister and feared for his life too.
Police said 2 members of the “CRIPS” gang have confessed to the shooting and robbing of Ruby, but a third suspect has denied involvement in the incident.
He insisted they had a strong case against the suspects who were identified by students who witnessed the shooting.

Did you know that the acidity and pH level of the vagina is higher than that of the pH in any other region of the human body?

Its a pathogen-defense mechanism. During sexual intercourse over 60% of the sperm released in the female's vaginal canal is liquidated immediately due to the shear acidity levels of the environment. Those that are strong and able enough go on to find the non-fertilized egg, and only 1 out of billions is able to fertilize that one egg.

And as a result, you and I are concieved.

Just imagine, the amount of work it was required by our spermatic ancestors in order for us to be here ;)

Kiams, salamat for posting the image, at least we have an idea of how she looked like. Luuy pood kaayo ang paryente nija kai na mourn na sila sa ilang only baby girl. And the most painful fact is that she was only 3 weeks away from graduating nursing school, dili pood ni fair uy. Its so unfair for her, the sweat and pains she went through, the amount of hours she gave to study for her exams, visitations from her parents and brothers, the love that they had for each other.

All taken away because someone with no decency or self respect wanted to rob her and her friend late at night. For what? For a lousy peso or two? What could he have gained from it? 500 pesos? maybe 1000? A life, is NEVER equal to money, never. This Bayabado is equivalent to the Judas of our day.

I hope and pray tha the victim's family is trying to find some kind of solace and peace through such unbelievable and unfair times. I know nothing will be able to bring their baby girl back, or reverse such actions, pero, I do hope and pray that time will be able to heal some of their wounds.

Kiams, if I were the elder brother of the victim, I would not be posting in the forum. I would have already taken a sundang and made my way to the police station to see Bayabado. Like I said, in crimes such as these, I believe in the Waray-Waray way of rectification.

So full of hate were our eyes that none of us could see.
Our war would yield countless dead, but never victory.

So let us cast arms aside, and like discard our wrath.
Thou, in faith, will keep us safe, whilst we find the path.

On and on shall old war go,
Without respite my blood will flow

O’er your eyes ‘til they cannot see
The impossibility of victory.

Poems and Poets / The Fear of Life and Death
April 02, 2008, 05:23:34 AM
Death wanders through our lives at will, sweet Death
Is busy with each intake of our breath.
Why do you fear her? Lo, her laughing face
All rosy with the light of jocund grace !
A kind and lovely maiden culling flowers
In a sweet garden fresh with vernal showers,
This is the thing you fear, young portress bright
Who opens to our souls the worlds of light.
Is it because the twisted stem must feel
Pain when the tenderest hands its glory steal?
Is it because the flowerless stalk droops dull
And ghastly now that was so beautiful ?
Or is it the opening portal's horrid jar
That shakes you, feeble souls of courage bare?
Death is but changing of our robes to wait
In wedding garments at the Eternal's gate.

Dear ______________

I personally thought it was pretty rude how you didn't return my salutation today in class.
Then again you were probably too busy with your chissmisses, all I wanted to say was "Congratulations on finishing the senior comp!", but alas, it wasn't meant to be so.

How would you feel if I ignored you when you ask ask me a question or for help?
Perhaps I should do just that..

Sincerely,

Dear __________

:) Bitaw no? Its beautiful how we use something pathogenic on an alien carcinoma. Two negatives does equal a positive.

I turned in my research today guys, as of today I am complete.

As I said, I did not forget those who helped me, the following is the acknowledgment page of my senior thesis. (I will post a link to my research in the following weeks, after my oral defense before the Biology Department).

Thankfully Yours,

Exactly! could be the other side of you is a serial killer and then dakpon ka sa mga police while you are on the normal side!! And totally clueless ka despite the thumb-mark and all proven evidence!  kaluoy nalang.

a phenomenon of westernized societies. - so it all goes back same to SIDS nga it all depends sa race..lols naa jud tale na sa genes..again.

lorz. shrink also have their own shrinks dba?

LoL, Kiams, shrinks solve their problems by drinking their problems away, lol. jp.

You know its funny how we humans are so smart, out of the continuum of animals that God created, we are the only ones that can hold onto the concept of law, the concept of the galaxy and its expanses, cellular formation, chemical compositions, laws of physics, the theorems of mathematics, statistics etcetera etcetera. However, we're also the ones that suffer more neurological problems as compared to other animals.

Ah, unfair pood. God gives us so much, but places checks and balances on our potential ;)

Lorenz, I meant do you know somebody who has it? I wish I know one! haha! :) It'll be a great experience.

lorz kana childhood trauma? Like child abuse, and you start to create or pretend a strong side of you, until unknowingly, naging MPS na.. is it also a proven cause?

I've never met anyone personally who had it. Causes of MPS (which in itself is a new phenomenon, we don't know everything about this psycho-psychiatric condition as of yet--what we do know is limited) have been linked to chemical imbalances in the limbic system; an example are High omega-6 and low omega-3 fatty acids which can alter psychosomatic moods. Physical abuse, mental abuse, observational learning, depression stages--all have been linked to the manifestation of MPS as well as DID. There is no clear cut proof of it tho; one thing for sure is that it is a result of neurological degeneracy.

Kiams, if you're interested in this subject, I recommend you read into an article that I came across regarding MPS:
http://www.jstor.org/view/1047840x/ap050014/05a00020/0?currentResult=1047840x%2bap050014%2b05a00020%2b0%2cFFFF01&searchUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.jstor.org%2Fsearch%2FBasicResults%3Fhp%3D25%26si%3D1%26gw%3Djtx%26jtxsi%3D1%26jcpsi%3D1%26artsi%3D1%26Query%3Dmultiple%2Bpersonality%2Bdisorder%26wc%3Don

The term MPS, kiams is similar to DID (dissociative identity disorders); its when people cannot have one identity, but make multiple identities. Its a subtaxa so to say of MPS, in that MPS is chemical-related, its due to chemical imbalances (enzymes) of the limbic and hypothalamus. DID, on the other hand is when people cannot decide on one identity so they make multiple identities--a phenomenon of westernized societies.

Best course of treatment is seeking psychiatric and psychotherapeutic help. This is a serious problem.
#46696
Yea, I know what that is, we learned this in Medical Psychology last semester. One of the psychosomatic abnormalities of humans; its hormonal-based; endorfinitic abnormalities.

You can say, a result of neurological degeneracy. Nature's mistakes.

Question and Answer / Re: Kanus-a ka gituli?

I was 5 years old, my mother took me to a urologist (who happened to be Filipino, btw) in Queens-New York City. I remember running around the clinic when he took my pants off and took out his scalpel(s). I was calm when I came to the office, and I remember him telling me to take my pants down (which I did only because my mother was there--though i was very scared) and when he took out his 'knives' I panicked and ran away from him, lol. My mother had to catch me (I was half naked, may I remind you) :P

The urologist gave me analgesics, they did not work as I could still feel every cut, gave me some more that put me to sleep, still didn't work because I remember waking up as he was cutting around the tip of my penis' skin flap. I remember opening my eyes and seeing red blood pouring out. I controlled myself though because my mom was giving me one of her angry 'looks'. Pero ya, I did not go to the shower for the next 3 days.
