The Parietal Lobe

Functions:

Processing of sensory input, sensory discrimination.

Body orientation.

Primary/ secondary somatic area.

Occipital Lobe

Functions:
Primary visual reception area.

Primary visual association area: Allows for visual interpretation.

Cerebral Cortex-Right Hemisphere

Functions:
-The outermost layer of the cerebral hemisphere which is composed of gray matter. Cortices are asymmetrical. Both hemispheres are able to analyze sensory data, perform memory functions, learn new information, form thoughts and make decisions.

-Holistic Functioning: processing multi-sensory input simultaneously to provide "holistic" picture of one's environment. Visual spatial skills. Holistic functions such as dancing and gymnastics are coordinated by the right hemisphere. Memory is stored in auditory, visual and spatial modalities.

Personal Remark:

Any inhibition or mutagenesis of these subunits of the central nervous system will decrease efficiency of a functional brain. For example is the Cerebral cortex, any damaged to this cortical area of the system will lead to a reduced ability to focus, retain logical points of views, and rationality is decreased. The same can be seen in the occipital and parietal lobes, which if damaged can hinder one's visual reception and sensories; thereby affecting an interpretation of unusual and unexplainable occurrences as hauntings.

Therefore such cases of ghosts and percieved hauntings are nothing but mere products of over-active chemicals in the central nervous system and or a result of significant damages on the sub-cortices of the neural system.

Explanations for Paranormal Phenomena

Richard Wiseman of the University of Hertfordshire has researched the phenomenon of haunting in Great Britain. He has studied locations considered to be haunted, like the Haunted Gallery at Hampton Court Palace, the Edinburgh Vaults and Mary King's Close. First, he has consulted written records and interviewed employees to determine exactly where in each location people have reported ghostly activity. Then, he has asked visitors to document their experiences and report anything out of the ordinary.

His results have been pretty consistent -- people report more strange experiences in the areas where others have experienced unusual phenomena in the past. In other words, people have more ghostly experiences in the places that seem to be the most haunted. This is true regardless of whether people have any prior knowledge of the area or its ghostly history. However, people who say they believe in ghosts or who already know about supernatural activity in a particular area report strange events more often.

These findings can seem to support the idea that a building can be haunted. But Weisman's projects have also involved looking for the source of the apparently paranormal phenomena. In addition to gathering reports of strange occurrences, he has evaluated physical conditions in each haunted area. He and his research team have used instruments to measure light, humidity, sound and magnetic fields. His measurements suggest that the signs that a building is haunted often have a rational, physical cause. The Ghost Experiment site includes synopses of several of Weisman's experiments.

Other researchers have used similar methods to try to determine the causes of ghostly activity. While no one has conclusively proven that ghosts do not exist, researchers have proposed a number of alternate explanations about physical or psychological causes for strange experiences. Some are simple - people can hallucinate or mistake reflections, shadows and unidentifiable noises for ghosts. Other theories are more complex. We'll look at some examples in the next section.

Quote

Ghosts of the Brain

Sleep states and altered states of consciousness can lead people to believe that they have experienced something supernatural. For example, skeptics have used sleep paralysis or a hypnogogic trance to explain encounters in which people see spirits while in bed and are unable to move or escape. Most people experience a hypnogogic trance once or twice in their lives, although it is far more common in people with epilepsy or certain sleep disorders.

Scientific/ Medical Explanations

Medical researchers have also studied the effects of electrical fields on people's brains. Electrical stimulation to the angular gyrus of the brain, for example, can cause the sensation of someone behind you mimicking your movements. Electrical stimulation to different parts of the brain has also caused people to hallucinate or seem to have near-death experiences.

Temperature

Cold spots are a common phenomenon in buildings that are thought to be haunted. People describe sudden drops in temperature or localized cold areas in an otherwise warm room. Often, researchers can trace the cold spot to a specific source, like a drafty window or a chimney. The sensation of a lower temperature can also come from reduced humidity. In Wiseman's study at Mary King's Close, the locations reported to be haunted were significantly less humid than those that were not.

Low-frequency Sound Waves
Several experiments have demonstrated that low-frequency sound waves, known as infrasound, can cause phenomena that people typically associate with ghosts. This includes feelings of nervousness and discomfort as well as a sense of a presence in the room. The sound waves may also vibrate the human eye, causing people to see things that are not there. Usually, these waves have frequencies of less than 20 Hz, so they are too low-pitched for people to actually perceive. Rather than noticing the sound itself, people notice its effects.

Sometimes, researchers can locate the source of the sound. The article "The Ghost in the Machine" by Vic Tandy and Tony Lawrence describes a low-frequency standing wave originating from a fan. The sound wave disappeared after the researchers modified the fan's housing. When the wave dissipated, so did the symptoms of haunting in the building. You can learn more about infrasound at the Infrasonic site.

The most skeptical researchers believe that all ghostly phenomena have rational explanations. Those who try to prove the existence of ghosts, however, claim that while some events have rational explanations, others can only be supernatural in origin. Regardless of whether ghosts are real, many people find them fascinating. This fascination has a number of likely causes, from curiosity about what happens to people after death to the comforting idea that deceased loved ones are still nearby. Ghost stories, like urban legends, can also express people's fears about the unknown and caution people about the consequences of actions.

On the other hand, in its Science and Engineering Indicators report, the National Science Board (NSB) asserts that belief in the paranormal can be dangerous. According to the NSB, belief in the paranormal is a sign of reduced critical thinking skills and a reduced ability to make day-to-day decisions. However, since it's virtually impossible to prove that something does not exist, people will probably continue to believe in ghosts and haunted houses, especially since unexplained events aren't likely to go away anytime soon.

Acts of Man

Human Error

One of the most cited explanations in official inquiries as to the loss of any aircraft or vessel is human error. Whether deliberate or accidental, humans have been known to make mistakes resulting in catastrophe, and losses within the Bermuda Triangle are no exception. For example, the Coast Guard cited a lack of proper training for the cleaning of volatile benzene residue as a reason for the loss of the tanker V.A. Fogg in 1972. Human stubbornness may have caused businessman Harvey Conover to lose his sailing yacht, the Revonoc, as he sailed into the teeth of a storm south of Florida on January 1, 1958. It should be noted that many losses remain inconclusive due to the lack of wreckage which could be studied, a fact cited on many official reports.

Deliberate Acts of Destruction

This can fall into two categories: acts of war, and acts of piracy. Records in enemy files have been checked for numerous losses; while many sinkings have been attributed to surface raiders or submarines during the World Wars and documented in the various command log books, many others which have been suspected as falling in that category have not been proven; it is suspected that the loss of USS Cyclops in 1918, as well as her sister ships Proteus and Nereus in World War II, were attributed to submarines, but no such link has been found in the German records.

Piracy, as defined by the taking of a ship or small boat on the high seas, is an act which continues to this day. While piracy for cargo theft is more common in the western Pacific and Indian oceans, drug smugglers do steal pleasure boats for smuggling operations, and may have been involved in crew and yacht disappearances in the Caribbean. Historically famous pirates of the Caribbean (where piracy was common from about 1560 to the 1760s) include Edward Teach (Blackbeard) and Jean Lafitte. Lafitte is sometimes said to be a Triangle victim himself.

Another form of pirate operated on dry land. Bankers or wreckers would shine a light on shore to misdirect ships, which would then founder on the shore; the wreckers would then help themselves to the cargo. It is possible that these wreckers also killed any crew who protested. Nags Head, North Carolina, was named for the wreckers' practice of hanging a lantern on the head of a hobbled horse as it walked along the beach.

Natural Explanations

Methane Hydrates

An explanation for some of the disappearances focuses on the presence of vast fields of methane hydrates on the continental shelves. A paper was published by the United States Geological Survey about the appearance of hydrates in the Blake Ridge area, offshore southeastern United States, in 1981. Periodic methane eruptions are capable of producing ship-sized bubbles, or regions of water with so much dissolved gas, that the fluid density is no longer capable of providing adequate buoyancy for ships to float. If this were the case, such an area forming around a ship could cause it to sink almost directly and without warning. Experiments have proven that a methane bubble can indeed sink a ship by decreasing the density of the water.

Methane gas can also crash planes. The less dense air causes planes to lose lift. Also, the altimeter of planes (the instrument that measures the altitude) functions on the density of air. Because methane is less dense, the altimeter assumes the plane is climbing. Planes at night or in the clouds, where they can't see the ground, assume that they are climbing and dive, causing them to crash. Also, methane in the engine throws off the mix of fuel and air. Aircraft engines burn hydrocarbons (gasoline or jet fuel) with oxygen provided by the air. When the ambient oxygen levels drop, combustion can stop, and the engine stalls. All of these effects of methane gas have been shown experimentally.

Laboratory experiments carried out in Australia have proven that bubbles can, indeed, sink a scale model ship by decreasing the density of the water; any wreckage consequently rising to the surface would be rapidly dispersed by the Gulf Stream. It has been hypothesized that periodic methane eruptions (sometimes called "mud volcanoes") may produce regions of frothy water that are no longer capable of providing adequate buoyancy for ships. If this were the case, such an area forming around a ship could cause it to sink very rapidly and without warning.

A white paper was published in 1981 by the United States Geological Survey about the appearance of hydrates in the Blake Ridge area, off the southeastern United States coast. However, according to a USGS web page, no large releases of gas hydrates are believed to have occurred in the Bermuda Triangle for the past 15,000 years.

Hurricanes

Hurricanes are extremely powerful storms which are spawned in the Atlantic near the equator, and have historically been responsible for thousands of lives lost and billions of dollars in damage. The sinking of Francisco de Bobadilla's Spanish fleet in 1502 was the first recorded instance of a destructive hurricane. In 1988, Hurricane Gilbert, one of the most powerful hurricanes in history, set back Jamaica's economy by three years. These storms have in the past caused a number of incidents related to the Triangle.

Gulf Stream

The Gulf Stream is an ocean current that originates in the Gulf of Mexico, and then through the Straits of Florida, into the North Atlantic. In essence, it is a river within an ocean, and like a river, it can and does carry floating objects. A small plane making a water landing or a boat having engine trouble will be carried away from its reported position by the current, as happened to the cabin cruiser Witchcraft on December 22, 1967, when it reported engine trouble near the Miami buoy marker one mile (1.6 km) from shore, but was not there when a Coast Guard cutter arrived.

Freak Waves

Extremely large waves can appear seemingly at random, even in calm seas. One such rogue wave caused the Ocean Ranger, then the world's largest offshore platform, to capsize in 1982. There is, however, no particular reason to believe rogue waves are more common in the Bermuda region, and this explanation cannot account for the loss of airplanes.

Research has shown that freak waves up to 30 m (100 feet) tall, capable of sinking the largest ships within moments, can and do happen. Although these are very rare, in some areas ocean currents mean they happen more often than the norm. Such waves have now been hypothesized as a cause for many unexplained shipping losses over the years.

The book was a best seller, and many interested readers offered theories to explain the nature of the disappearances. The list includes natural storms, transportation by extraterrestrial technology, high-traffic volumes (and correspondingly high accident rates), a "temporal hole," the lost Atlantis empire from the bottom of the ocean, and other natural and supernatural causes.

This Friday, I was able to finally finish three elements vis-a-vis the AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectrometer, also known as the Electronic-spectrophotometer). The elements that were analyzed in my samples were Lead, Zinc and Cadmium, all in all I analyzed about 297 samples. I will finish analysis of the last 2 metals: Mercury and Arsenic in the coming weeks, after proper training with the biology technician in handling hazardous contaminants.

The laboratory phase is coming to an end, nothing can describe the amount of joy I had when I finished the last cadmium trace metals analysis through the AAS.

Here are some pictures:

The finished 69 samples (already ready for analysis, completed acid digestion)

The AAS machine (Atomic absorption spectrometer) also known as the electronic spectrophotometer. $600 of my grant money was depleted in order to use this machine.

The temperature gage of the AAS

AAS machine, side view

Front view of this beautiful beast. ;)

My control desk. ;) hahaha

This is the plastic tube that takes milligram samples of my acids-samples to determine the presence of a particular metal; which were either lead, zinc and cadmium. It took about 15 minutes to analyze one sample, out of a total of processed 69 samples.

It took me about 1070 minutes to complete analysis of 69 samples for zinc trace presence (about 17 hours)
It took me another 1070 minutes to analyze lead and another 1070 minutes for cadmium. Overall, around 50 hours for all of it to be finished. It took me about a 1.75 weeks to finish 3 metals. Now to finish 2 more metals. :)

As I was busy analyzing the samples, I had Cedric Gamble, my student assistant to properly calibrate the specificity of cadmium, zinc and lead. It is necessary for the accuracy-sake.
Here is a photo-capture of this processes.

Cedric doing work, he has been a great asset to me during my entire project, working with me from the whinning hours of the night. I will include him in citation during the writing of this research paper.

Two very invaluable people throughout the duration of my metals analysis in the AAC lab.
The one in the left is Mr. Same Reese, the Biology-Environmental Science Technician, he has been there for me when I had technical difficulties or when the AAC or the CNS machines were not cooperating. The gentleman on the right is my lab assistant, Cedric Gamble, who is a freshman Biology student and whom I've taken under my wing. He will eventually take my place when I graduate.

Bran,

Dili ba ni hadlok nga process pag test nga ang kanang machine mo bombard na ug certain levels of radioactivity to change the metals into isotopes. So, pag sul-ob ug protective gear kay delikado raba kaayo ang radioactive poisoning.

Ang akong Papa once na expose sa radioactivity kay sa ulitao pa siya, didto siya trabaho sa Wake Island unya one adjacent Island was made into a nuclear missile testing ground.

So, the result, dugay siya ka anak. It took them 5 years in the making before I came to this world.

Just a joke about your assistant Cedric: Unsa nga isda iyang gi hinloan ug gi unsa ninyo pag luto? Gi prito or inun-onan, hahaha.

Bitaw, it gives pride to every Boholano that you have this brilliant mind and talent. You are one of the few Filipinos who are fortunate to be blessed with such opportunity. We are looking forward to your success. Good luck.

Mr. Ferniz,
Sorry wa jud ko nakakita ani. :P

Sa AAS machine, Mr. Ferniz, ang radioactive exposure is very minute ra man pero for safety's sake I do wear a mandatory white lab coat, gloves and heavy laboratory masks to protect the eyes from exposure to blue flame. You are right, Mr. Ferniz, a long time exposure to radioactive isotopes will lead to genetic degeneracy, however, I was only exposed to no more than 1 weeks worth of work. It becomes a systemic problem if one is exposed to radioactive isotopes at high levels for years/decades. However I was exposed to isotopes for about 3-4 hours a day while collecting scintillation samples in a week span.

Hahahaha, Mr. Ferniz, I never realized it but you're right it does look like Cedric is preparing fish no? lol. I was so blessed to have him volunteer to work with me; which really saved me hours even days. But he benefitted from this because as a freshman he was already given hands-on experience in the Elemental analyzer machine (CNS) as well as the Atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS) when in reality only upper classmen, usually seniors, are are exposed to these instruments. He will be more than ready when its his turn to work on his composition in 3 years.

In the end, thats what counts. Science, afterall, is all about passing on the knowledge gained in a research to the next generation; from teacher to student. And I am honored to have been given the chance to have worked with my professorial staff, as well as with my  research assistants that worked under me. It taught me the meaning of "patience" and the concept of 'team-approach'.

Thank you, Mr. Ferniz, for your warm words of support, sir.
We do what we can to glorify the Lord; either it be in science, economics, arts, whatever it so may be that we are gifted in. But to the Lord God be all glory and praise. Unending praise.

April 16, 2008, 08:28:20 AM
Okay, so today was an interesting day. You know I was enjoying my morning because I didn't have any classes today besides teaching molecular lab today. My day went as the usual, woke up at 10 AM, got dressed and taught lab at 11:30 AM.

We were suppose to run RT-PCR gel samples to get the peroxidase sequence samples for the specific Arabidopsis thaliana tissues (root, stem, leaf). I had all the equipment ready, prepared all samples, readied all the micro-pipettes for the students; but before I could begin lecture the lab technician told us that the RT-PCR gel electrophoresis analyzer was offline due to 'technical difficulties' attained when a chemistry student forgot to turn off the machine from the previous night.

I was outraged, I mean, seriously, these machines are ridiculously expensive. The RT-PCR gel electrophoresis analyzer is worth over $100,000; and attached to this machine is a electrospectrophotometer machine which is worth over $80,000. These machines are interlinked and if one machine is offline, that means the other is offline. I was just utterly annoyed how any professor would have allowed such an inept and moronical student have oversight in our molecular genetics laboratory and have access to almost a quarter of a million dollars machinery inside.

I found out as well that this so called 'chemistry student' was a sophomore who wasn't doing any research, but was an aide to a senior chemistry student working on her chemistry senior thesis. First of all, this meant that the sophomore had no specific access to the molecular genetics laboratory, but used the key from the senior student to access.

My point, as I made clear to these students after I found out the machines were offline, was that:

1) No one is to have access of our molecular genetics lab unless you are a biology major
2) The senior student's gross ineptitude in allowing an inexperienced and untrained sophomore into an upper-level biology laboratory was utterly against protocol. Only lab TAs are allowed inside or lab techs or professors. NOT, i repeat, NOT sophomore students who have no experience in molecular genetics!!!

Because of their insensitivity to the biology department and lack of respect and lack of understanding at that, my molecular biology lab was canceled.

I reported the senior student to the biology chair for gross incompetence and charged the sophomore student for downright vandalism of material.

This underclassman should not have been tampering with laboratory instruments beyond his/her scope of understanding in the first place. Can you imagine? Machinery whose worth almost totals $250,000 was damaged and 'offline'.

One thing I truly cannot stand is incompetence and total ineptitude.

Poems and Poets / Re: A Father Means
April 16, 2008, 04:40:16 AM
A father to me;

is constant support,
like a mountain he is unshakable
like a tree he provides shade for his family
like a Sheppard he protects his offspring
like a mustard seed, his faith is unquestionable

Like a teacher, he disciplines and corrects what is wrong
Like an engineer he designs our rooms, and guides us to stable bridges
Like a nurse he nurtures us until we can walk on two feet

Approachable when needed, but lighthouse of respect, and filial piety;
He reminds me and my siblings of where we come from,
#45953
Mao jud, 'te. Even if ma suko2x ta sa atong amahan for what ever trivial reasons, ang importante jud is that we remember where we come from diba? And mo give thanks ta sa support sa atong ginikanan, despite the limitations sa atong buhay.

I remember a time when I had an argument with my father concerning my practices in football kai i wanted him to attend my practice and see me play. Na suko ko one time kai wa siya ning adto, pero i never really took into consideration that he was working crazy hours to provide for the family. Ako--I was at fault because i wasn't being sensitive--being a young adolescent at the time i didn't take these matters into account jud.

And I complained to my mother kai ning ask ko 'mom, doesn't Dad  love me ? ngano di ma siya mo adto sa ahong practice, ug ngano di man siya there when i need him'. Ingoon ra ahong inahan, "Bran, ayaw pa suko sa imung amahan, pa sagdi lang na si Daddy kai ning trabaho overtime na siya para sa imung college, dont ever forget that. Of course your Daddy loves you, dili lang siya mo say it or show it in front of you, pero when you are not here, he talks about you, or he brags about you to his coworkers sa hospital. Proud kaayo na siya nimo. Kaibao ka how your dad is like, ing ana man jud na siya."

Gi humbled jud ko ni Mommy kai ingoon siya nako, that when my I was a baby, when Angel was a baby, Don or Andre, when we had stuffy noses and could not breath, Daddy apparently woke up and took me and sucked the mucus and phlegm in my nose that prevented me from breathing. Mo suck siya ug iyang i luwa sa sink until my nose was cleared.

I remember crying when my mom told me that story, because Dad never told me he did that; nor did he ever talked about it openly. It was my mother that told me that Daddy did that. Not only for me, but for Angel, Don and Andre.

Now that I'm older I get very sensitive about these things and i can't help but shed a tear here and there thinking about it. Sure sometimes i wish my dad was more emotional with me or told me face to face that he loves me, but he does it in his own way. I have to constantly remind myslelf that Dad and Mom come from a totally different generation and a culture that isn't so open about giving the 'i love yous'. But you know, i wouldn't have it any other way.

Despite all the clashes I have with my Daddy, I love him so much. After all he is my 'senior' hahaha. :P

OT: Daddy Rico, if you read this, i want you to know that I love you. Proud ko to be your son, Daddy. :)

I've read the reports about how this man was convicted of the same kind of crime and was acquitted after 3 years due to 'lack of evidence'. Totally absurd.

Clearly this man was guilty, now it is already too late; the wolf has already taken another sheep.

Life sentence or any jail time is too soft; is nothing for this man. In prison he'll be fed, clothed, washed, given a place to sleep, television to watch, and air to breath.

What about his victims? They are dead, mutilated, decayed, and deprived of humanity. This sick SOB doesn't so much as deserve life. This man is an example of a serial killer. Cases like this in the United States that occur result in the killer being sent to the death penalty by lethal injection. Or at least full life imprisonment.

It seethes me to know that this parasite will be enjoying the comforts of jail; while his victims have experienced the unimaginable. God have mercy on their souls and may the families of the victims be comforted, however that may be.

Patient to sue hospital over anal surgery video

CEBU CITY -- A 39-year-old homosexual is planning to sue a medical team after he saw in a cellular phone of a friend last Friday a circulated video footage of the operation to extract a perfume canister stuck in his anus during a sexual act.

The operation on the man, who only wants to be identified as "Jan-Jan," was done at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) last January 3 yet, but the video footage has been circulating through cell phones since then and was even uploaded in the video-sharing web site, YouTube.

For more details Click Here!

The medical team responsible are an embarassment to the entire medical world.
The surgical team that allowed this violated the sacred Hippocratic Oath that all physicians swear upon,

Head under water
And you tell me
To breathe easy for awhile
The breathing gets harder
Even I know that
Made room for me
It's too soon to see
If I'm happy in your hands
I'm unusually hard to hold on to

Blank stares at blank pages
No easy way to say this
You mean well but you make this hard on me

I'm not gonna write you a love song
Cause you ask for it
Cause you need one
You see, I'm not gonna write you a long song
Cause you tell me it's make or breakin' this
If you're on your way
I'm not gonna write you to stay
If all you have is leavin'
I'm gonna need a better reason
To write you a love song
Today
Today..

I learnt the hard way
That they all say
Things you wanna hear
My heavy heart sinks deep down under
You and Your twisted words
Your help just hurts
You are not what I thought you were
Hello to high and dry

Convinced me to please you
Made me think that I need this too
I'm trying to let you hear me as I am

I'm not gonna write you a love song
Cause you asked for it
Cause you need one
You see, I'm not gonna write you a love song
Cause you tell me it's make or breakin' this
If you're on your way
I'm not gonna write you to stay
If all you have is leavin'
I'm gonna need a better reason
To write you a love song today

Promise me
You'll leave the light on
To help me see
The daylight my guide, gone
Cause I believe
There's a way
You can love me
Because I say

I won't write you a love song
Cause you ask for it
Cause you need one
You see, I'm not gonna write you a love song
Cause you tell me it's make or breakin' this
Is that why you wanted a love song?
Cause you asked for it
Cause you need one
You see I'm not gonna write you a love song
Cause you tell me it's make or breakin this
If you're on your way
I'm not gonna write you to stay
If your heart is nowhere in it
I don't want it for a minute
Babe, I walk the seven seas
When I believe that there's a reason to write you a love song
Today

Mr. Matig-a,

That is a very strong point. Perhaps there are ruins of temples underneath the churches of the Philippines.
Perhaps in the future, some archaeologists will be able to unearth the grounds around churches to any remains of old temples.

Nonetheless, you do have a point about the religious wars and specifically the building of Mexico City on top of the ruins of Tenochtitlan, the former capital of Azteca civilization. In fact you are right, the current Catedral Metropolitania in Mexico City was built over the Azteca sacrificial pyramid.

Here is the view of the Catedral; it is a huge cathedral that was designed by the Spanish in the 16th century; and is the largest Catholic Cathedral in the Latin World outside of Spain.

Jez,

Those kind of men who appear very hard core, serious, mountain-like are sensitive. Take me for example, I never show superfluous emotions around my friends as in I don't cry in public or show sensitivity. I keep it inside. But whenever I'm by myself, I let it out.

I only cry whenever I'm by myself. Usually thats the case, that is.

My friends think I'm the serious type; the 'clam' type. They don't know that I'm also the sensitive type. It's just that I dont show it. There are men like this; they just don't show it.

Well for one his window shades are closed, so he must have been just posing or just looking at his own reflection from the mirror.

Secondly, this is probably at night time because it is dark outside and one, I can see the reflection of the light in the motorcycle's left side mirror; therefore it indicates it must be dark outside since the lights are on.

So, therefore I'm assuming this guy is just posing for the camera man. Based on the picture, that is.

Maybe someday a strange sculpted figure can be discovered in one of these churches.

a word so piercing there came a tear
when uttered it somewhat stabbed my heart
it felt like a sudden single shot

i think it was my fault maybe
i should've hushed and let it be
and yet i wanted for that word be told
for a confirmation of what i have no hold

what hurts me the most is the sincerity of its sound
what hurts me is the amount of guilt i found
it all was seen in the tears of those eyes
it all was heard by the sound of the cries

worst of all i need to set these feelings aside
cause there's no more place for my beloved pride
i don't know what caused me to be this good
but for this person i immediately could

but it's all right though i'm not okay
cause still have to live my everyday
but let it be known slowly im dying
my emotions, my wholeness, they're all breaking

and now that i heard the most painful word
it brought my life to it's own solitude
i'll never forget how i was able to carry
the moment i heard my "pengyo" said "im sorry"

can you imagine the pain i felt?

Quote from: Guy Matabao on April 15, 2008, 01:58:21 AM
I support Bohol-China Friendship, that is a step forward for our progress.

I am for strong economic relations with the Chinese nothing more, especially not a political alliance with China, but I doubt the Chinese are looking for a so called Zhong Guo Ren-Fei Li Guo Ren Brotherhood (Chinese-Filipino brotherhood).

China is a growing enterprise; a collective of many provinces; and China is a nation state that has consumed ethnic minorities into its political state; per se the Tibetans, the Tai, the northern Indians in Arunal Pradesh (which China took over in 1962 Sino-Indian War), the Turkic peoples of Xinjiang, a western province of China.

China grows; and the fires of China's industry needs resources to fuel that growth. China's resources are limited; soon enough she will look outward to consume other resources within here sphere of influence.

If China is allowed to grow unchecked, she will go down to South East Asia namely Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Burma for easy access to those countries' resources per se Timber, Oil, natural gas, copper, nickel, cadmium, lead, zinc, other precious metals.

China is already claiming the WHOLE of the Spratley Islands and even technically claims Phillippine-owned and occupied Kalayaan group. Even now, Chinese naval ships intrude in Philippine territory.
The Philippine Navy, which are old rusted down ships and some advanced frigates are not equal or strong enough to stand against massive fleet columns of the Chinese Navy. China has over 100 submarines, half are nuclear; China has destroyers, cruisers, naval corps of firgates and fast attack ships.

Philippine Navy only has 5 working naval frigates, dozens of fast attack patrol boats, and 10-15 aged WWII era warships.

If China is allowed to become the regional hegemon, we would have no way of stopping them. 100 million Filipinos against 1.3 billion Chinese?

That is why I want a strengthened Filipino-American strategic relationship. So long as America is in the Philippines and so long as there are strong relations between our two countries, China will not dare touch the Philippines for fear of American retribution.

Philippines is on a strategic military location. Other than this, I don't think the US have acquisitive interest on our natural resources because if so, they would have taken the Philippines as the 51st State long back, but they gave us our independence.

The US has vast surplus of resources that they have not touched their oil reserves in Texas and kept Alaska unexploited for future generation.

So, I believe reinstalling a US base in the Philippines would keep China from advancing its military arrogance in the region.

However, now that hostility between the US vs. Vietnam, China & Russia had been neutralized and main focus is the Middle East, I doubt if they are still interested.

I wonder how it would have been like if the Philippines was made into a state? Or an American protectorate?

I am against this, personally, but I can't help but wonder how the Philippines would have been had this occurred, I mean, all Filipinos would be given American citizenship and the islands would have been developed by American tourism industry and made into a resort base by the 300+ million Americans who love their 'exotic locales'.

I mean, Americans love Hawaii and the Caribbean because of the beaches. Imagine if they were able to come to the Philippines with no national checks?

Basically I'm asking this:

A) Do you think the Philippines would have been better off becoming an American state? Or some kind of American territory/protectorate?

B) If so, what are your reasons?
