Pare,
I know that you are not only intelligent one but you are also a distinguished young man with dignity. That phrase above.written might be dedicated to  me, bonbon and the rest in TB members  who are sinners (except to those who are sacred and holy)...na-a ba diha? :-\

Okey Pare thank you very much for the comprehensive explanation towards my inquiries....so that means- the whole discussion between  the parties concerned were just an outcome of misinterpretation and/or over reactions. I hope this will be cleared then.
We  must always  put in mind that we are not GOD to denunciate others life.  bonbonquest is happy of his life what our GOD had given..so, let us be happy with him.  Certainly, there are other TB members who are concealed of his natural identity. Perphaps, this thread is the start of personal exposure among those who are hiding themselves.

FYI...I'm not reading the bible. Do you think if I will start to scan the pages it will make me a good Christian? I am afraid that it will make me confused at all... and isn't that it is oftentimes interpreted?  How would I know the exact  truth and meaning from it origin  of that holy book? There are citations that feared me to stop existing....forbidden things.  My younger sister is super intelligent, attending  that successive bible study, she is a Chapel President, everyday attending Holy mass pero ug mangasaba na gani maoy gamiton ang mga panghadlok nga nasulat sa bibliya".  ???  And besides...."hugaw kuno ang dugo sa baboy...dili ipakaon.  Pastilan Pare paborito naho ang dugo-dugo ug specialista kung moluto ana....hangtod ang mga Germans kusog mokaon bisan wa kaila. Sus....I committed mortal sin kalingaw. :-\

haha, Pareng Bambi,

Thank you for pointing out a very very important concept. The need to 'relax' and be 'cool' and 'calm' when discussing. Perhaps you did not mean to do it, but you indirectly reminded me of this. I know that I can get a bit serious in debate, especially on a topic that I find very mentally and intellectually stimulating. Specially this thread. :)

Pare, I too fit in the category of sinners. So you and I are partners in crime, so to say, LoL! There is no way that I am innocent of sin. No one is exempt jud 'te, and there is no one in this world who is completely and totally 'free' of sin and purely holy beside GOD.

You are right jud.

Sinning is part of being human, ing ana man jud na, pero it is our ability to rise above our sins and take responsibility of our sins that makes us good, jud, in regards to religious life.

And Pare you are right, we are all made because of God. We are because of him, and he gives all of us our own crosses to bear. Diba?

So thank you pare, for pointing things out to me indirectly. And of course, I am more than happy to discuss with you.

PS. I too love baboy, so im as guilty as you are on eating the 'pig' hahahaha. Plus, who can deny the yumminess of lechon? and adobong humba? LOL!

Yours,
#44506
My salute to the new graduates! What honorable distinction.

Reason:

Identical twins happen when a single fertilized egg splits into two embryos. Each of the embryos has identical DNA, so surely the new-born babies should greet the world with identical fingerprints?

Fingerprints are laid down between the 13th and the 19th week of growth in the womb. There are at least two factors that can give different fingerprints.

First, the DNA doesn't make a perfect copy of itself every time it divides - it picks up mutations. To get from one single cell to the 10-100 trillion cells of a grown adult human, the DNA has to divide many many times. This gives ample opportunity for many mutations to accumulate.

Second, the mathematicians tell us that if the foetus had flattened finger pads, the baby is more likely to have the simpler arch pattern, or the slightly more complicated loop pattern. But on the other hand, if the foetus had swollen finger pads, baby is more likely to have the more complex whorl pattern of ridges. The two identical twins might grow in the same uterus, but they have different lengths and diameters of umbilical cord, so they will each get a different blood flow. The twin with the lesser blood flow will cut down the blood flow to the lower body, to preserve it for the brain. By an accident of anatomy, this gives more blood flowing into the arms. The baby ends up with proportionately bigger fingers, and more whorls in their fingerprints.

Developmental patterns will vary from person to person. Determination and 'shaping' of an organism is not only genetically-based, but also determined by the environment. Environmental cues causes genetic degeneracy and or even genetic evolution. Hence, environmental factors will affect development as in the development of the basal layers, the epidermal layers of the hand. Ultimately the development and shape of fingerprints.

Everyone, therefore, is uniquely created and manifested.

Oooo 'te, gusto lang ko kanang maas barato ug apartment uy! LOL. Di ko gusto mo pay so much. Ning tang aw ko for a 1 person apartment pero ang range nila may is around 500-800 a month! Dios Ko! too much for a poor student like me.

Ning tawag ahong amigos that are attending my medical school that they are looking to find room mates. I think it would be a good idea to room with them kai at least this way maka study pood mi together diba?

Ug naa'y mi problem with a concept, naa ra sila to ask; or vice versa.

Plus, pood, if we rent a 3 bedroom house the monthly rent will be probably around 800-1000 pero if we get 3 people together we can just split the cost. So it will be probably 200-300 a month per person. So much feasible and practical, diba 'te?

Aguy! so much to do so little time till classes start.  :P :P :P :-X

I am excited! I am looking around for a nice apartment that I will be living in for the first 2 years of medical school during my basic sciences curriculum. I am so elated to find out that two of my study buddies are willing to live with me. So there is a possibility that I will be renting a 3 bedroom house with them; that or maybe a nice 3-4 bedroom loft.

Oh I'm so excited! I've recieved my first batch of medical books!!!!! SO im pretty excited and already started to play around with my books. I should be getting my 3 other books and study guides in the coming weeks.

All I need to do now is to find a nice surgical medical kit for anatomy. Hopefully lang maka find ko some that are within the 1-2k range.

Overall, very excited jud ko karoon!

May the good and loving Lord have mercy on those who have been taken from the land of the living. Grant them peace O Lord and may they be acceptable to thee to enter thy Eternal Kingdom.

Lord, please comfort the families that are mourning the loss of members. Loving and merciful Lord, if there is any way, please allow for more survivors to appear.

Lord, creator of the heavens and all things. To you, there is nothing that is 'impossible', grant mercy and comfort to the families that call for thy intervention, o Lord.

O Mighty Power, may our prayers and our inquiries rise to thy Divine Throne like sweet incense. This we pray in the name of your Incarnate Son, Christ Jesus. From which all good things come from.

Lamb of God have mercy,
Lamb of God grant peace to thy children.

AMEN.

Well I've been waiting, waiting here so long
But thinking nothing, nothing could go wrong, ooh now I know
She has a built in ability
To take everything she sees
And now it seems I'm falling, falling for her.

She seems to have an invisible touch yeah
She reaches in, and grabs right hold of your heart
She seems to have an invisible touch yeah
It takes control and slowly tears you apart.

Well I don't really know her, I only know her name
But she crawls under your skin, you're never quite the same, and now I know
She's got something you just can't trust
It's something mysterious
And now it seems I'm falling, falling for her.

She seems to have an invisible touch yeah
She reaches in, and grabs right hold of your heart
She seems to have an invisible touch yeah
It takes control and slowly tears you apart.

She don't like losing, to her it's still a game
And though she will mess up your life,
You'll want her just the same, and now I know
She has a built in ability
To take everything she sees
And now it seems I've fallen, fallen for her.

She seems to have an invisible touch yeah
She reaches in, and grabs right hold of your heart
She seems to have an invisible touch yeah
It takes control and slowly tears you apart.

She seems to have an invisible touch...

Be simple. Allow no man to judge you, not even yourself, for you cannot judge God.

Do not allow the unfounded belief in demons to block your communion with God.

God does not create the adversities in life. By your own choice they exist to aid in your perfection.

God allows each person the opportunity for perfection, whether you need one life or a hundred lives to reach your level of perfection.

Pareng Bambi,

By no means am I against individuals who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender. Absolutely Not! I have some friends who are gay. We are all equally human, equally loved by God. All of us are sinners. We all sin, either it be in malcontent, anger, jealousy, pride, swearing, homosexual acts, stealing, conniving, blasphemy, etc.

There is a saying that goes “Hate the sin, but love the sinner,” and that applies to homosexuals as well.

Do I believe that there is salvation for homosexuals? Of course! Do I believe that the Lord our God looks at homosexuals any less? Of course not! Our God is a loving God. He forgives even the multitudes of sins.

That does not mitigate the fact that it is written in scripture that the act of homosexuality is a sin.
#44545
Quote from: Bambi on July 03, 2008, 06:25:57 AM
Hello Pare! Kumusta?

I have always respected your point of view since from the start knowing you here in TB.  I've been reading the hot discussions in this interesting thread but some biblical citations makes me confused.

I have a question to you since you are a bible expert.  I had read in one of your comments that phrase: "The act of homosexuality is a SIN! Would you be kind enough to elaborate and explain clearly WHY IT IS CONSIDERED AS A SIN in which connection?  I am interested to know this. Thanks.

As I understand: GOD created us equal and he ordered us... "Go to the World and multiply" (As what the Pinoys considered obedient enough).  As to my poor understanding: Since the homosexuals have no possibility to multipy..... are they sinners? Due to this reasons that they could never follow what God said? If our Almighty God loves us all whom he molded.... Why and into what basics he will neglect some (Bayots) of his own creatures?  Sorry dear God!...Is this not an art of cheating from our Lord?  ???

In my own opinion....mas sala pang dako ang siging panganak ug daghan unya way ika-pakaon kay sa mga boutan nga  b***t (dili pod tanan ..like we heteros)  nga mang-adopt ug mga gisalikway nga pobreng bata gikan sa mga ginikanan nga masunoron sa sugo sa Diyos.

Pare....what I think there are other mortal sins which need more our attention rather than telling someone who couragely outing himself  at the age of 18 who more or less only need our respect as a person.  And I am happy to have him here....let TB Family be more colorful!

We welcome all from different categories as soon as they are called human, right?

Peace all be with you!

Pare Bambi,

As much as I read the Bible, I would not say that I am an expert of the Holy Bible. Many of the passages within it still puzzle me as well as titillates the mind. I am a lover of inter-dialogue between theologians in their personal interpretation of biblical passages. Either it be in the Evangelical viewpoint, the Catholic viewpoint or the Orthodox viewpoint. I, like many others, am just a simple beginner in biblical study. One which has been very rewarding, I will admit.

My post regarding homosexuality in biblical passage was not meant to cause tension, but to infer the religious viewpoint on the matter. It is one thing that many of us look into because one cannot deny that many of us look towards scripture for moral understanding, teachings and answers. And I was providing the religious discourse. Since it was Bonbon, himself, who asked in his post in this thread.

Case in point,

Quote from: bonbonquest on June 27, 2008, 11:45:45 AM

But why do the religious institutions have to smite these gay and lesbian couples when they're just going about their business loving each other?  They aren't harming anyone or anything!  Why does there have to be a predefined bracket for human love?  Why do they (religious institutions) feel that they are obliged to take control over what they perceive to be wrong?  Why can't they just swallow reality?  That they don't really have a say in these things!  That these things really do happen!  And that LOVE drives it as much as heterosexual couples--or possibly even more than them!

Furthermore, why do they insist that God despises these things when in fact they are the very institution telling us that God loves unconditionally?  What an outlook!

What do you think?

And as you see, Bonbon was the one who asked the question. 'What do we think'. Wowboholphilippines provided a response, and bonbon responded quite negatively with unecessary profane remarks. It was an honest and simple retort.

I responded because it is within my own heart that compelled me to answer. Bonbon asked a sincere question and looking for other view points. I provided the specific biblical passage that specifically relegates the said topic.

I provided my view point, and provided a primary source to support the view point. It was responded by Bonbon's rather 'hostile' remarks that were unnecessary. And the things that I pointed out in previous posts regarding the neurological condition is fact.

However, instead of just accepting and acquiescing the opinion of others, which he asked for in the first place. He responded quite nefariously after reading something that does not conform to his ideology. Whatsoever it may be.

To me, that is very bad debate tactic and very mundane dialogue etiquette. There is no need to use profane words to convey a point. One can still argue and debate civilly. At least that way it motivates and instills a camaraderie in debate. Instead we see the antithesis.

Pareng Bambi, it is written in scripture that the act of homosexuality is a sin. In the catholic version of the bible, the presbyterian, the king james version, the new american version, the methodist version, etc.

The Bible consistently tells us that homosexual activity is a sin (Genesis 19:1-13; Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9). However, the Bible does not describe homosexuality as a “greater” sin than any other. All sin is offensive to God. Homosexuality is just one of the many things listed in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 that will keep a person from the kingdom of God. According to the Bible, God’s forgiveness is just as available to a homosexual as it is to an adulterer, idol worshipper, murderer, thief, etc. God also promises the strength for victory over sin, including homosexuality, to all those who will believe in Jesus Christ for their salvation (1 Corinthians 6:11; 2 Corinthians 5:17).

I invite you Pare to read the verses that I mentioned, and meditate on its teachings.

Note that I am merely answering the religious question that Bonbon asked. He asked and it was given.

It was an honest question, which he asked for. And was already, by the nature of the question, religiously based.

This is a good reference guide.

I cannot stress enough the need to avoid using profane words.

We all respect each other's views. There is no need to 'shout' your views with use of profane and very derogatory tactics. Its bad etiquette and uncivil.

So that's what you think.

I've said it before and I will say it again: I don't care what you say, Lorenzo.  I have a mind of my own and so do you.  I have my own line of thinking that has been influenced by generations of great thinkers and I'm not about to bow down to any other ideologies obviously lesser than that.

I think as much as I read.  When I read the works Freud, Piaget, Kohlberg, Erikson, the holy Bible, the Kabbalah, Q'uran, Bhagavad Gita, or anything else, I use my head.  My brain isn't a sponge, you know.  I do know how to think--very well, in fact.  I've read about all those things you mentioned in your rant and I've pondered on them.  I'm not the kind of person who only recognizes a single-perspective.  I do consider the other side but your arguments are just not as strong as mine is founded, so I trashed them.

Yes, I do read the Christian bible.  It's among the most insightful books I've ever come across but I don't necessarily believe everything.  If you do, then that's your choice, Lorenzo.  Don't bombard me with them because I really don't care.  Nothing you say will influence me in any substantial manner.  I don't even know who you are.  If I did, it wouldn't matter either way because, much like you with your advocacy, I keep a firm stand with mine and I don't budge for absolutely anyone below my "standards of intelligence".

Your scientific statement on this issue is not useful.  First and foremost because I already know about that.  Second is because we (my partner and I) have abandoned thoughts of reproduction among ourselves.  We are men, alright? We ARE men.  We are aware that it's never going to happen between us.

And telling me that I'm abnormal does not really provoke me intensely.  I know that my genes were designed this way by the biological course of nature.  And who do you Christians say is responsible for this?  God, right?  And does your perspective of God consider to be a sin what makes two people (even of the same sex) happy?  Especially if this happiness is sealed with genuine love?

You say that homosexuality is a sin and your basis of this is the holy bible.  Well, let your basis be your basis.  My basis is mine as well.

I'm not close-minded, though.  I am as dynamic as all human beings normally are.  But given that you are deliberately calling me an "abomination," I would say that you are as "banal" and "feeble" as your shallow-founded arguments.

Keep them coming, Lorenzo.  I would never care.  You are wasting your time trying to tell me things that I am completely aware about.  The fact is that I don't really care... at all.

Let us end this argument, Lorenzo.  Please stop trying to convince me that homosexuality is a sin and that it is an abominable thing.  Nothing you say or do will convince me of this because in my eyes, you are nobody.  I do not recognize you in any significant way.  I do not regard you any more than how I regard every candle vendor at St. Joseph's Cathedral (whom I respect as human beings, by the way), any mendicant at the port of Tagbilaran City or any cashier at BQ or ICM.  To me, you are no one so don't try imposing on me.

Thank you.  Have a nice life.

Ludwig

Don't take it personally, Bon. It seems to me that you tend to take things too personally. It is just my own point of view.

Lets not let differences in opinions inhibit dialogue.

It is natural to disagree on things; as no one can change a person's views. Same as you will not change mine and vice versa. :)

We may have differences, but it shouldn't be a reason for us to linger in malcontent for each other. Right?

Welcome to Tubag Bohol! Where minds come and talk and learn from each other.

Colloquially,
Bran Lorenzo

PS. Unlike you, Bon, I don't regard you as a cashier at a mall, or a candle seller, or a port worker. I view you as an equal and a human being.

All Glory and Praise to the Lord.

Even if you don't respect me Bon, and even if you harbor ill feelings, I will not reiterate the same feelings. I wish you a good life, and a sound mind. :)

Peace be with you.

Salvation from germs ang unsa pa nang mga kagaw2x diha!

Thats all i can say. What has TULI something to do with GOD?

nothing, they only knew then nga ang tuli is a hygiene.

Nag sugod ang Tuli sa mga Jews, as far as i have known and they were not christians...

Jews are just the cleanest people I have ever known in my entire life, dili lang sa ilang genitals but in everything.

Certain men from Jerusalem travel to Antioch and begin teaching that certain believers (Gentiles) must be circumcised in order to receive salvation (Acts 15:1, 5). After Paul and Barnabas discuss and dispute this teaching with those promoting it, they and other church members go to Jerusalem to confer about the issue with the apostles and elders (Acts 15:2, Galatians 2:1-2).

After arriving in Jerusalem Paul and Barnabas privately meet with James, Peter (Cephas) and John about the circumcision question (Galatians 2:4-10). The issue of whether converted Gentiles should be circumcised or not is then discussed with the entire church (Acts 15:6, 12, 22). It is ultimately decided that Gentiles need not be circumcised (Acts 15:19). A letter regarding this decision is delivered to the Gentile Christians in Antioch by a group composed of Paul, Barnabas, Silas and others (Acts 15:22-31).

Circumcision was mandated as a way to delineate which one was God's people. The Hebrews are circumcised because it was mandated by the Almighty as told in the Talmud. Many Christians to this day do this because of cultural and traditional methodology.

It links the relationship of Early Christianity with Jewish practices.

Lyrics

All that time I was searching, nowhere to run to, it started me
Thinking,
Wondering what I could make of my life, and whod be waiting,
Asking all kinds of questions, to myself, but never finding the answers,
Crying at the top of my voice, and no one listening,
All this time, I still remember everything you said
Theres so much you promised, how could I ever forget.

Listen, you know I love you, but I just cant take this,
You know I love you, but Im playing for keeps,
Although I need you, Im not gonna make this,
You know I want to, but Im in too deep.

So listen, listen to me,
Ooh you must believe me,
I can feel your eyes go thru me,
But I dont know why.

Ooh I know youre going, but I cant believe
Its the way that youre leaving,
Its like we never knew each other at all, it may be my fault,
I gave you too many reasons, being alone, when I didnt want to
I thought youd always be there, I almost believed you,
All this time, I still remember everything you said, oh
Theres so much you promised, how could I ever forget.

Listen, you know I love you, but I just cant take this,
You know I love you, but Im playing for keeps,
Although I need you, Im not gonna make this,
You know I want to, but Im in too deep.

So listen, listen to me,
I can feel your eyes go thru me

It seems Ive spent too long
Only thinking about myself - oh
Now I want to spend my life
Just caring bout somebody else.

Listen, you know I love you, but I just cant take this,
You know I love you, but Im playing for keeps,
Although I need you, Im not gonna make this,
You know I want to, but Im in too deep.

You know I love you, but I just cant take this,
You know I love you, but Im playing for keeps,
Although I need you, Im not gonna make this,
You know I want to, but Im in too deep...

Love Talk / 'Infringed' Relationship
July 02, 2008, 11:52:48 AM
Okay, I have a debacle that I want to let out in here because its one thing that has been bothering me.

I have two friends, one of them is dating and going out with one woman. They both have been in a relationship for quite a while now; almost a year. Now as of late, I just found out that my other friend has had a deep crush for the same girl.

It has gotten so bad that both of my friends have already limited their interactions. It pains me to see this because this  was never a problem in the past.

I try not to get involved but both are asking what to do. I've already told them that I will not get involved and refuse to say anything. I just want to let it out here.

What do you think they should do? I'd really hate to see the friendship strained due to this.

Women are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. Most men don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt.

Instead, they sometimes take the apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy. The apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right man to come along, the one who is brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree.

Now Men.... Men are like a fine wine. They begin as grapes, and it's up to Women to stomp the heck out of them until they turn into something acceptable to have dinner with.

There are many neuroscientists and neurobiologists that have studied homosexuality. Many view it as a species-based inhibitory effect.

Meaning, it is a genetic manifest that was ingrained in certain invididuals in certain populations as a way to mitigate population growth.

In a natural point of view, organisms are supposed to have checks and balances. It is part of the Malthusian concept that the given resources in the planet are linearly affixed, and human population growth is alinear. Growth is also alinear. Meaning that there will definitely be a time when humans will outgrow the given resources.

We see this in nature that whenever there is a limited resources for a given animal population, as a result, females will produce more destructive enzymes during their gestation period; increases in fetal deaths, instances of animalic cannabilism as well as predation increases.

Humans by right violate natural law because we have already developed science which have combated diseases, plagues, and viruses that evolved as a way to destroy populations and limit human populatory growth and presence. Humans have developed technology that can solve physiological diseases in the cardic, neural, endocrinal systems etc. There is no 'natural' predator for humans as humans are the apex predatory species. There is no limiting reactant to keep population growth in check.

HOWEVER, there have been articles written by neuroscientists and neurobiologists that homosexuality is degeneric condition that was designed on a species' level to inhibit female-male mating. And therefore would decrease human population. Since the act leads to self-induced populatory destruction.

In an organismal-populatory view, it is self-destructive. And if left unchecked will lead to species-wide deterioration.

One can say that what scripture teaches holds rather STRONG links to scientific proofs.

One can, even dare to say that there is parallel to scriptural teachings and scientific fact.

Of Course,
Bran Lorenzo

On May 28, 2008 Boholano Bishop Leonardo Medroso said that marriage is only for man and woman. I hope everyone there in Bohol had read his pastoral message.

The message that His Eminence, Bishop Leonardo Medroso ushers truth in what the bishops and the Holy Orders reiterate.

Even in the United States, there is varying verbatum on the aspect of marriage.

Many Americans view that there should be equal rights for homosexuals on a political point of view. Equal benefits for them; given civil unions.

But the topic of 'marriage' has remained a very sensitive topic. It still relegates to the concept of man and woman. Not man-man or woman-woman.

Lorenzo, do you know why the terms AD and BC are now obsolete?

Well, in case you don't, here's the reason:  It's because not everyone in this world is Christian and not everyone believes in the bible.

You can't shut down anyone's personal beliefs just because he/she doesn't conform to yours.  I'm gay and I don't give a damn what the Roman Catholic church (or any other institution) says about it.  I do "things" and I don't give a F**K what any bishop or priest or rabbi or imam or monk or nun or yogi or the Bible or Q'uran or Kabbalah or Bhagavad Gita says about the things my partner and I do.

Don't get me wrong, I do have a religion.  However, I will not talk about it here because I do not intend on making its teachings part of my defense scheme.

And do remember, we only have one God no matter what our religion is.

Bonbon, I understand your point of view on this matter, but try to retort to other people's opinions without having to use profane words, please. Notice that I did not use such words to you or anyone in this thread. Let us discuss like civil human beings. Intellectuals with mutual respects on each other's persona.

My views, Bon, are affixed and I will not change my views to fit into anyone's box or any idealogue. Like yourself, lol.

I am a religious man, and I will even dare to say that my morals and ethos are based on my religion and my own faith. Through which is based on religious Christian, specifically of Roman Catholic, scripture. Now , I would like to tell you that though religion has a large influence in my views on social as well as personal topics, I make my own interpretation and my own judgment accordingly.

Its called social conservatism, Bon. I hold quite traditionalist views on social aspects; and I can guarantee you that I am not the only one in here with such views, in the United States, in the Philippines and in the world.

Concerning your bringing up of the use of BC/AD, on the contrary, secular society uses the term BCE/CE (before common era/ common era). But many still use the BC/AD setting. It depends on the individual.

And lastly, you bring about an interesting point at how you 'dont care' about the view of others, which I am lightly paraphrasing from your retort. However, even if you say that, it still will not mitigate the fact that over 1.2 billion Catholics and an additional 500 million protestant christians, an additional 1.1 billion muslims still hold rather conservative feelings on this topic.

I will end this remark with a personal absolution. It is in my personal opinion, that the act of homosexuality is a SIN. It is a sin as noted in scripture. Old testament and New testament. And it will vary on different individual's view on salvation and acceptance of this act. We do not know if whether the Lord accepts this or not, we can only hope that the Lord is accepting of it and looks past this sin. But I can tell you this, that it is told clearly in Genesis, in Leviticus and in Col that this said act IS a sin.

Many will think that such thinking is derelict, but to think and ignore its message, which comes from The Holy Bible itself in not only the Catholic version but through many protestant versions, is ignoring and choosing to pick and choose what part of the bible one can use.

Bon, the act of homosexuality is a SIN.

And looking at it in a biological stand point, as a scientist, is violation of natural law. The point of sentient beings is to reproduce and replicate their genetic codes. XY genome will mix with XX genome. You cannot mix XX with XX or XY with XY. And in the words of Ate Belle, she is right. Homosexuality IS manifested because of neurological degeneracy. There is enzymatic abnormalities.

So, in actuality, the 'abomination' that is said in Holy Scripture bears TRUE forebearance IN that even science proves the 'abnormality' of Homosexuality. In the view of the scientific--organismal point of view.

Cheers,
Bran Lorenzo

I'll tell you something 'te.

I have a very good friend in college who is Filipino. His name is JC; and has been my good friend since I was a freshman in college. We are so good friends that we call each other 'Kapatid' or 'Pare'.

He is a very devout Catholic, 'te. When we had Catholic Mass in the college chapel, I would always go to mass with Bryan, Don and JC. All 4 of us would go to dinner first at 6PM then to mass at 7:30 PM.

I believe that though JC's acts of homosexuality is a SIN. But is no more different to the sins that I and many individuals of faith are guilty of. But I know through conversations with JC and several other students of faith that we have been touched by the power of the Holy Spirit's grace.

For if we had not been, then why would we be compelled to come to church on a weekly basis? Why would we be singing his praises in mass and confessing our sins? Right?

In my belief, it is important for ALL of us to recognize our faults. and all OUR sins.

This is the UNCONDITIONAL LOVE of our Lord our God. :)

Now i will give you a situation, My best gay friend was very religious, (my bible study buddy and room mate) and yes he confided me nga he tried not to be gay pero dili jud nija mahimo. He is very generous and support all the churches kay ma datung man lagi sha and i know he is sincere when he gives. For me he is almost a perfect person except his being a gay.

Now i was thinking sa ijang ka buotan, do you think God wont allow him to heaven if he dies? I dont believe so. If it does then i dont want  go to heaven too...

That is his own cross that he bears, 'te.

From the way you portray your friend, he seems like a very godly individual. My point here is that everyone sins. I sin, you sin, everyone in this world sins. No one is exempt. Despite the 'act' of homosexuality being a sin in Scripture, I believe that the Lord looks past our sins if we have strong faith. If we LOVE truly and absolutely. And recognize our own sins.

Remember, even the Lord took in Cornelius, a former Roman pagan who had faith in Christ.

Its all about Faith.
#44590
Yes, you are very right, 'te.

Carnal lust is a sin that any human being commits. Christian or not. Gay or straight.

In my faith, it is taught that the act of Homosexuality is a sin, however, just because one is homosexual does not mean that that individual is lesser in the eyes of God. Salvation has been secured through the death of Christ Jesus on the Cross. His death on the cross has conquered the power of Satan on Earth. Yes, homosexuality is an abominable sin in scripture, but so is murder, theft, drunkard-ways, pride, anger, jealousy etc.

The point is, we are all sinful and imperfect in the eyes of the Father.

But salvation is guaranteed to us. If we believe in the Christ, In His Father, the miracles of Jesus, the teachings of scripture and the innate need to repent our sins.

This is what is meant by the UNCONDITIONAL love of our God. That he even looks past the MULTITUDE of Sins.

As it is said,

"The LORD is slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, forgiving iniquity and transgression; but He will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generations."
-Numbers 14:18

Excessive Lust is of the Devil. And such acts will lead to perdition. This is why we have instances of pedophelia, rape, and murder-rapes.

Uncontrolled, and tormented by rampaging Lust.

Being raised in a heavily conservative Roman Catholic environment has certainly become a hindrance for homosexual couples...  Don't you think so, too?

Human as they are, members of the LGBT community are capable of genuine love that stretches miles beyond the typical perception of the general public.  They have the same basic needs that every other human being has.  And one of these is to love and be loved in return.

Bonbon,

I stand quite moderately in this though I must admit that I will lean towards the conservative view. I have friends in college who are gay and lesbian, and I have developed a sense of respect and brotherly-love for them. I know one Filipino individual named JC who I've regarded as a 'kapatid'.

I respect humans, despite their sexual preferences, their race, ethnicity, political leaning. As human beings we are entitled to that basic right; and understanding of our multi-ethnicities, and different ways of life is key to symbiosis.

Though I respect the person, that does not mean that I condone and accept the 'ACT' of homosexuality.

It is taught to us through scripture as a grievous sin. There is a direct reference to this in scripture:

"You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination."

-Lev. 18:22

"Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God."
-1 Cor. 6:9-10

"For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. 28And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper."
-Rom. 1:26-28

Bonbon, God does love UNCONDITIONALLY. However, there are acts referred in scripture that are abominable sins in the eyes of our Lord. Pray tell me you do know the history of Sodom and Gomorahh? And the justice that was dealt on these two sister cities?

My view on this is that we should love and respect our fellow human beings. Either they be Christian or not, straight or not. The ACT of homosexuality is a sin. And like any other sin, should be repented. It is like any sins in the eyes of God. You are Catholic and a Christian. You should already know this.

This is just my view.

To each his or her own. I believe that no man is perfect and that one's ability in being a father depends on that individual. If that person is a closet homosexual, then he should have an obligation to end the marriage for the sake of giving some sense of decency to the wife. In the end, the family will suffer.

I personally believe that both heterosexuals and homosexuals should have equal rights before the law. Legally speaking, there should be some kind of 'civil union' mandated for all states in the United States. So that spouses, either they be heterosexual or homosexual based, are secured benefits.

However, I am very conservative on matters of 'Marriage'. Marriage, in my view, is for man and woman. Husband and Wife.

That is my view on this matter.

Book Reviews / Re: Favorite literary excerpts

1. Taken from Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass,

2.
Quote"I know that the hand of God is the promise of my own,
And I know that the spirit of God is the brother of my own,
And that all the men ever born are also my brothers, and the women my sisters and lovers,
And that a kelson of the creation is love. "

Another,

QuoteWhat do you think has become of the young and old men?
And what do you think has become of the women and children?
They are alive and well somewhere,
The smallest sprout shows there is really no death,
And if ever there was it led forward life, and does not wait at the end to arrest it,
And ceas'd the moment life appear'd.
All goes onward and outward, nothing collapses,
And to die is different from what any one supposed, and luckier.

3. There is such strong religious reference to these excerpts. There is a transcendence attitude that the book portrays; of life being a cycle. Through life, there is death and through death there is life. One of the few books that can reduce me to tears.

Bible Study / Our 'Holiness'

Where do we begin, if we want to search for information about the sort of outlook and behavior which will please Christ and which is appropriate for 'God's children'?

No Christian who has read the Holy Scriptures, or books of meditation, can have failed to come across a list of the 'Beatitudes'. These precepts of Christ, which are found as slightly different versions in two of the Gospels, are widely admired both inside and outside the Church, as providing a picture of blessedness which cannot be improved upon. In St. Matthew's Gospel we read:

HOW HAPPY ARE THE POOR IN SPIRIT;
THEIRS IS THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.
HAPPY THE GENTLE:
THEY SHALL HAVE THE EARTH FOR THEIR HERITAGE.
HAPPY THOSE WHO MOURN:
THEY SHALL BE COMFORTED.
HAPPY THOSE WHO HUNGER AND THIRST FOR WHAT IS RIGHT:
THEY SHALL BE SATISFIED.
HAPPY THE MERCIFUL:
THEY SHALL HAVE MERCY SHOWN THEM.
HAPPY THE PURE IN HEART:
THEY SHALL SEE GOD.
HAPPY THE PEACEMAKERS:
THEY SHALL BE CALLED SONS OF GOD.
HAPPY THOSE WHO ARE PERSECUTED IN THE CAUSE OF RIGHT:
THEIRS IS THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.

-Mt 5:3-10

These precepts, with the whole of the 'Sermon on the Mount,' are sublime. Isn't it astonishing that God Himself - the Incarnate Son of God, Christ - has been loving and humble enough to come and meet with frail human beings, to explain what sort of lives are most admirable and worthwhile?

Yet there are people who imagine that in giving us those precepts Christ meant to provide a substitute for the Law which, in earlier times, had been given from Heaven to the Chosen People (Ex 20:1-21). Some people urge us to sweep away a clear moral code about what we should and shouldn't think, do and say, and to substitute for it merely a perpetually-affectionate attitude towards Mankind, with no norms of restraint on certain types of behavior, nor any practical duties to be undertaken which aren't directly mentioned in Christ's list. Christ Himself told us on that same occasion, however, that how we do or don't behave has tremendous significance. Christ said:

YOU ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD. A CITY BUILT ON A HILL-TOP CANNOT BE HIDDEN. NO ONE LIGHTS A LAMP TO PUT IT UNDER THE TUB; THEY PUT IT ON THE LAMP-STAND WHERE IT SHINES FOR EVERYONE IN THE HOUSE. IN THE SAME WAY YOUR LIGHT MUST SHINE IN THE SIGHT OF MEN, SO THAT, SEEING YOUR GOOD WORKS, THEY MAY GIVE THE PRAISE TO YOUR FATHER IN HEAVEN.
-MT 5:13-16

Then He added:

DO NOT IMAGINE THAT I HAVE COME TO ABOLISH THE LAW OR THE PROPHETS. I HAVE COME NOT TO ABOLISH BUT TO COMPLETE THEM. I TELL YOU SOLEMNLY, TILL HEAVEN AND EARTH DISAPPEAR, NOT ONE DOT, NOT ONE LITTLE STROKE, SHALL DISAPPEAR FROM THE LAW UNTIL ITS PURPOSE IS ACHIEVED. THEREFORE, THE MAN WHO INFRINGES EVEN ONE OF THE LEAST OF THESE COMMANDMENTS AND TEACHES OTHERS TO DO THE SAME WILL BE CONSIDERED THE LEAST IN THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN; BUT THE MAN WHO KEEPS THEM AND TEACHES THEM WILL BE CONSIDERED GREAT IN THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.
-Mt 5:17-19

It seems obvious that if we want to please Christ, we'll want to know about His Commandments in detail, so that we "KEEP" and "TEACH" nothing misguided, sinful or dangerous, but only what is good and fruitful in Christ's sight; and it's through the teaching authority of The Holy Church today that we can find sure guidance on every important issue.

Bible Study / Lesson About 'Love'
July 01, 2008, 04:56:16 AM
Though I command languages both human and angelic -- if I speak without love, I am no more than a gong booming or a cymbal clashing.

And though I have the power of prophecy, to penetrate all mysteries and knowledge, and though I have all the faith necessary to move mountains -- if I am without love, I am nothing.

Though I should give away to the poor all that I possess, and even give up my body to be burned -- if I am without love, it will do me no good whatever.

Love is always patient and kind; love is never jealous; love is not boastful or conceited,
it is never rude and never seeks its own advantage, it does not take offense or store up grievances.

Love does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but finds its joy in the truth.

It is always ready to make allowances, to trust, to hope and to endure whatever comes.

Love never comes to an end. But if there are prophecies, they will be done away with; if tongues, they will fall silent; and if knowledge, it will be done away with.

For we know only imperfectly, and we prophesy imperfectly;but once perfection comes, all imperfect things will be done away with.

When I was a child, I used to talk like a child, and see things as a child does, and think like a child; but now that I have become an adult, I have finished with all childish ways.

Now we see only reflections in a mirror, mere riddles, but then we shall be seeing face to face. Now I can know only imperfectly; but then I shall know just as fully as I am myself known.

As it is, these remain: faith, hope and love, the three of them; and the greatest of them is love.

-1 Corinthians 13:1-13
