The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)'s largest vessel acquisition to date, Multi-Role Response Vessel (MRRV)-9701 conducted its official sea trials at the vicinity waters off Japan on 25 to 28 January 2022.

February 03, 2022, 01:18:36 AM
"Voters approve new Mindanao province
Cotabato City (1 November 2006) -- Voters in Maguindanao's 29 municipalities have approved the creation of a new province to be composed of 10 towns, the Commission on Elections (Comelec)here said.

Of Maguindanao's more than 500,000 registered voters, 285,372 approved the creation of Shariff Kabunsuan province. Only 8,802 voted against the proposal, Usi said.

The new province, carved out of Maguindanao, is composed of the towns of Datu Odin Sinsuat, Kabuntalan, Upi, Sultan Kudarat, Datu Blah Sinsuat, Sultan Mastura, Parang, Buldon, Matanog and Barira.

It is the sixth province in the ARMM and the country's 80th.

"(ARMM Regional) Governor (Zaldy) Ampatuan will soon name the officials who will run the affairs of Shariff Kabunsuan," engineer Norie Unas, Maguindanao provincial administrator, told the Inquirer.

Ampatuan signed Regional Legislative Assembly Bill No. 445, seeking the creation of the new province, on September 7. This paved the way for the plebiscite.

The new province is named after an Arab-Malay Islamic preacher who introduced Islam to Central Mindanao in the 14th century.

Maguindanao Governor Andal Ampatuan originally pushed for the creation of the new province to decentralize governance and maximize development in poor Muslim communities, most of which have been areas of armed conflict for decades.

Under Republic Act 9054, the regional government has the power to create barangays, municipalities, and provinces within the region, subject to a plebiscite. (PIA)"

World Daily News / World Wetlands Day 2022
February 03, 2022, 01:09:52 AM
Today is #WorldWetlandsDay!

Wetlands yield both ecological and socio-economic values for human beings and the environment. They give numerous direct and indirect benefits through their ecosystem services such as provision of food, source of freshwater, livelihood, recreation, education, and aesthetic value to a locality. Wetlands act as natural sponges which help control floods and release excess water in times of drought. They are also home to unique and endemic biodiversity which cannot be found anywhere else.

It is time to value our #wetlands and consider adopting nature-based solutions like wetland conservation in our localities for a greener, inclusive, more sustainable and resilient approach to build back better.

From FB: Excerpt sa interview ni Karen Davila kay Com. Rowena Guanzon.

Guanzon: "You know Com Ferolino, lacking in experience in practise of law was nominated and strongly supported by a senator or at least one senator. Thats already on record. That she will not act like this if it not that senator who will order her because they are very close since they were both in Davao.

"Anyway I will not name him anymore because his wife already knows. It's already viral and I already told the...

Karen: "But which senator? You are referring to a senator from Davao City. A senator from Davao would be senator Bong Go. I mean I think you have gone as far to the media as ...threatening and ...I'm saying, is it Sen. Bong Go? Name the senator"

Guanzon: No I will not name the senator here because his wife already knows. I was told last night his wife already know. And I already told a person in authority...

Karen: Who is the person in authority?

Guanzon: I already told a person in authority, and they will get back to me. And the senators already know because I already said, you know... It's a senator... most probably a senator... A senator because Ferolino would not act on her own like this.

She's a new commissioner. She's very bago lang. Do you think she will dare go against her presiding commissioner and to the extend that she will not even comply with the Chairman's plea for her to release it?

Karen: Ok. Now there are two senators from Davao. Sen. Bong Go and there is Sen.  Bato Dela Rosa. Now it is unfair to just  for you say it is a senator from Davao. Who is it, Maam?

Guanzon: You pick among the senators who supported her in the senate...

Karen: Sen. Bato. So is it Sen. Bato de la Rosa?

Guanzon: It is enough for me that his wife already knows and that is going to be a war in his household.

Karen: Yes, but influencing a COMELEC commissioner is a possible crime. (unintelligble) ... filed against... thats why its a violation, who is the senator maam?

Guanzon: I already told a person in authority and I have to respect him. If he said he will get back to me, he'll get back to me. So if it is not time to say it in public if I have to say it in the proper form, then I will do so...If the senate calls me, I will do so. It's not fair to me to.. Its not fair to me also not fair to me to say his name here. It is not fair to me to say his name here without a proper forum. Let's do it in the senate.

Karen: So you want to do it in the Senate. Because madame I would like to remind you. You were the one who made the threat. You said, "If Ferolino does not release on Monday, I will name the senator."

Guanzon: Yes, I said... I said I will release my separate opinion and I will name the senator and I named him ... to a person in authority.

Karen: Will you file a case against this senator?

Guanzon: Nooo! His wife is already angry at him. It's already viral so... thats his problem not mine...Let's focus on BongBong Marcos as a weak leader. Look, let's focus on BongBong Marcos' moral turpitude. That is my decision. Let us focus on BongBong Marcos' violation ah conviction. Four convictions. And his failure to pay the fine. Those are all ah... conviction involving moral turpitude. That's why I said I will realease my decision-- ah my vote on Monday. The people have to know who--  ah how I voted. Because ah... I am a legal scholar...Nobody. ah! I have written several books and nobody can disclaim that.

Philippine History / Dr Cecilio K Putong
February 02, 2022, 01:39:53 AM
By Ted Ayeng

(The Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School is the premier public secondary school in Bohol, which was founded in 1905.  The first teachers of the school were Americans called the Thomasites and one Filipino teacher, Dr. Cecilio K. Putong, who later became a Secretary of Education in the country.

It was originally named Bohol High School and later, Bohol Provincial High School.  By virtue of Presidential Decree No. 1050 emancipating the school from the provincial roll, it became Bohol National High School in 1977.  It was finally renamed to what it is known today with the passage into law of Republic Act No. 8016 on May 25, 1995 authored by former 3rd Dist. Cong. Isidro Zaraga  - a fitting tribute to an illustrious alumnus).

Anonymous Diary Blog / Special Meal For You
February 01, 2022, 07:21:33 PM
Copied from Facebook.
Yesterday afternoon, I walked into a hotel. After going through the menu, I ordered some food. After about 20 minutes, a group of men and women walked in and ordered theirs. To my dismay, these folks got served first. I watched as they began to eat and laugh heartily. I even overheard one of them bragging about how he is connected to everyone in the hotel, and I felt mocked.

I decided to leave. Unable to take it anymore, I called the waiter. He calmly told me, "Yours is a special order being prepared by the chief chef himself. Their orders were prepared hurriedly by students on attachment because the top chefs are busy with yours. That is why they were served first. Please have some juice as you wait." I calmed down and waited patiently.

Shortly after, my food was served by six waiters. Unknown to me, the owner of the hotel (who happened to be an old long lost friend of mine) saw me when I entered and decided to surprise me. She changed my simple meal to a five-star meal. The party at the other table were shocked. They could not stop staring . Suddenly, they were the ones murmuring, asking why they did not get the kind of meal and service.

Such is life! Some people are ahead of you and are eating now, laughing at you and talking about how they are better, wiser, and smarter than you, how they are blessed, well connected, have money, and are enjoying life. You are waiting tirelessly wondering why its taking so long to Breakthrough. You endure mockery and humiliation. May be you have contemplated suicide, gone through depression, or suffered severe mental anxiety. Don't worry! The owner of the world has seen you and doesn't want you to be served a simple meal like those making a mockery of you.

You are waiting long because yours is a Special meal. It takes time to prepare. And, only chief chefs prepare them.
Relax and wait for your meal. When it comes, that laughing party will be silenced for good.

Stay blessed! Enjoy your day! This is my word of encouragement to you today.

"By Julius I. Valmores

General Santos City (1 December 2005) -- The recent consultations of Con-Com on charter change has vindicated its members on the issue of competency and possible usurpation of powers with the Congress.

Con-Com as an independent body has proven its worth especially to its detractors that it is efficient, effective, and has a distinctive role different from that of Congress.

The presidential consultative commission was, of course, created to propose amendments to the 1987 Constitution, after a nationwide public consultation shall have been undertaken.

In a way, its humble accomplishment has also vindicated Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo proving once again to her foes that her choice of people to compose Con-Com was impeccable.

But of course, the President's political opponents would not stop just like that, especially now that PGMA's effort to push the economy forward is breaking fresh ground everyday.

Con-Com, under the proposed parliamentary-federal set up, has recommended for the abolition of the political dynasty, that is, no elected public official "may be succeeded by a relative up to the fourth degree of consanguinity."

To those politicians with no hidden agenda, the proposal may sound well and good. But definitely not to unscrupulous politicians who wish to use government as spawning ground for evil deeds in the guise of public service.

But whatever negative criticisms the "evil" may utter, the month-long regional consultations of Con-Com in the seven key cities of Mindanao and Visayas, has ended with flying colors that cannot be undermined.

Why? It was because the consultations reaped favorable responses from the 1,500 regional leaders and representatives both in the Visayas and Mindanao.

In fact, Dr. Jose Abueva, Con-Com chairman, noted that "majority of Filipinos in Mindanao and the Visayas favor the proposed shift to parliamentary form of government from the present presidential system."

That is not quite a surprise? Why not? When Filipinos in the south loathe the feeling of being "overly dependent" on the national government politicians, whey they actually should not and when they could very well steer their own development using their political power, authority, and influence!

With the current system of government, that dream remains elusive and far-fetched. But with the proposed shift to parliamentary system, that dream will definitely come true. The Mindanaons would be able to exercise more political power and authority over their respective jurisdiction.

Imperial Manila should know that people in the Visayas and Mindanao have long been considering the country's worsening economy.

Anonymous Diary Blog / Kuwentong Paalala
January 28, 2022, 04:00:48 PM
Kuwentong Paalala:

Science and Research / Corded Ware Culture in Germany
January 28, 2022, 11:57:18 AM

DNA extracted from bones and teeth in a 4,600-year-old stone age burial unearthed in Germany has provided the earliest evidence for the nuclear family as a social structure.

The find consists of two parents and two sons who were buried together after being killed in a violent conflict over some of the most fertile farming land in Europe.

The group burials, which appear to have happened together, tell a story of violent deaths. The people were members of the Corded Ware culture, named after their practice of decorating pots using twisted cord.

Basketball | NBA-PBA / Kobe Bryant in Italy
January 28, 2022, 09:05:43 AM
This photo of a 12-year old Kobe playing against adults in Italy has gone viral numerous times in the past couple of years.

Two years ago, after Kobe's death, Federico Biagini, the other man in this picture, shared his memory of the time he had to guard young Kobe.

"Hi kid,
I'm the guy in the white jersey in this picture, and it took me two days to process what has happened.

Hi kid, I was saying... To me you will forever be that nice kid at the Piattelli Trophy in Montecatini Terme in 1989: a scrawny kid with the longest legs, with lively eyes and a smile that would have, later, charmed not only basketball but the world as a whole.

A kid that one night, thirthy years ago, did something unique and unrepeatable: step on the court alongside your father "Billy Joe", with the "grown-ups" during the Finals of a summer tournament, with his jersey down to his knees and the shamelessness of Champions, even if you were only eleven. You tried to leave a mark on the game, to be a protagonist and not just an extra, like you would have done later and for the rest of your career.
The Finals of a summer tournament, probably one of the most important tournaments at the time, played in Montecatini during the best years of basketball in Tuscany; on the court there were only adult players, from Serie A, Serie B, Serie C and Serie D; from Montecatini, Pistoia, Livorno, Siena and Florence: nobody wanted to lose, it was serious business...
Matters of local rivalries and honor, "italian suburbs" stuff, but feelings and emotions that you would have brought, with your immense talent, to basketball overseas.

"A kid on the court, how cute!", was the thought of the 1,000 people on the stands, among them your mother, that looks at you, entranced.
"A kid on the court, what a bore!", the athletes thought.
"What am I supposed to do now?", the thought of the man that had to guard you.
And that man, for better or for worse, was me, a mediocre player from the lower Tuscan divisions.
The kid catches the ball... And I tell myself "don't move, don't do anything... It's a kid!"

The kid shoots from 3... Nothing but net, the crowd goes wild, my teammates show signs of disapproval.
On the next play, the kid gets the ball again... I think "get closer, but don't raise your arms... It's a kid!"
The kid, careless, shoots again from 3... and he scores again! The crowd shouts again, my mates grumble again, my coach that didn't want to lose (nobody did) calls a timeout and demands me to defend.
We get back on the court.
Again the kid has the ball.
The whole arena wants the kid to shoot. And cheers him.
All my teammates want me to defend. And shout "don't let him shoot!"

"F- me" I think "what should I do now?"
I get closer to the kid and with my eyes I try to tell him "don't do it, please"
No chance, he's got only sheer determination in his eyes (was the mamba mentality already there?)
The crowd is out of their minds: shoot! Shoot again!
I raise my arms without even looking at the kid.
As reckless as before, he takes the ball, bigger and heavier than him, and shoots it.
Unintentionally and inevitably, I block the shot: what's his mother going to think about me?
The arena screams disappointed at me, my mates keep on playing like nothing ever happened...
I start laughing facing this tragicomical situation and tell the coach "either you bench me now or you're coming here and guard this kid!"

Right... The kid... That kid, that in a few years would have given to basketball so many emotions that nobody could ever imagine, including the best love letter, the best farewell that anyone has written.

Goodbye kid...
Now you'll make angels fall in love with basketball: every basket a divine "plan"!
Maybe one day we'll play again 1 on 1, and, without any doubt, you'll give me back that ridiculous block, while your daughter will watch us and laugh.
5...4...3...2...1...
Farewell, Kobe. It has been beautiful."

MAYOR SARA DUTERTE'S REPLY TO MR BELLO'S COMMENT ON MANDATORY YOUTH MILITARY SERVICE

If only Walden Bello wasn't so quick to jump the gun, he would know that my vision was not only to push for mandatory military service for the youth.

And an 18-year-old is definitely not a child.

Only the likes of Mr Bello would think of mandatory military service for its citizens as arming them and telling them to kill — instead of looking at it as something that inspires patriotism in the youth.

If only he wasn't so quick to react, he would have realized that I also emphasized the need for the youth to be prepared for disasters and become proactive community partners in rescue operations and in aiding victims of calamities.

The youth, I also said, should also play active roles in advancing their own welfare — particularly in the aspect of health, education, gender equality, and reproductive issues. I wanted them to be able to stand on their own, help themselves, help the communities, and help the nation.

If only Mr Bello did not stop at what he has been so stuck in over the past many years — dictatorship in the Philippines, something that we know is a lie in the present time — he would have a better understanding of what I truly stand for.

The obsession over dictatorship in this country is as ancient as the belief that the youth have no actual important role in building a nation that is progressive and peaceful.

I truly hope that our youth do not grow up to be a Walden Bello — an ungrateful citizen who sleeps peacefully at the comfort of their homes, unable to say a prayer or a silent 'thank you' to the men and women who became martyrs while countering violent extremism, insurgency, and terrorism.

History / Albert Einstein and Maria Skłodowska-Curie
January 18, 2022, 03:47:06 PM

This incredible photo shows two Nobel Prize winners, Albert Einstein and Maria Skłodowska-Curie, having a stroll by Lake Léman in Switzerland.

Einstein invited the Polish scientist to go sailing on the lake, where Maria Skłodowska-Curie discovered that Albert Einstein, the man who discovered the theory of relativity did not know how to ... swim!

The two scientists were long time friends, a friendship that lasted from 1909 till 1933, during which they corresponded with each other, met at conferences, went on holidays to the Alps and had joint projects for the League of Nations.

Both of them admired each other deeply, with Einstein saying of the Pole: "Maria Curie-Skłodowska is, of all celebrated beings, the only one whom fame has not corrupted." - World History Files Wiki

By Aica Dioquino

TL;DR: At the mention of the accident, she looked down, felt the wedding band that remains on her finger. Something must have passed across her face, I don't know, my eyes fixed on the way she touched that ring. A moment. And then she let go, as applause beckoned her to the podium to fulfill the morning's task. Two years and a big leap since I took this photo, I still remember this moment vividly.
—
Took this photo two years ago. VP Leni was a month into her term, and I a couple of months in the new beat. She and I didn't know each other; just a forgettable introduction after her inauguration.

The early days of her term teased with blooming optimism, at the recent unfolding of relations with the President. But amid all the moments of moments, this was among the few that stuck with this observer the most.

She sat there listening to the introduction being read: a list of credentials... that somehow led to a paragraph about how the "tragic crash" that took her husband's life led to her sitting there, the second-highest official in the land.

At the mention of the accident, she looked down, felt the wedding band that remains on her finger. Something must have passed across her face, I don't know, my eyes fixed on the way she touched that ring. A moment. And then she let go, as applause beckoned her to the podium to fulfill the morning's task.

Two years and a big leap later, I still remember this moment vividly. Only it holds more meaning, I guess, now that I've heard more about their love story. About love language; how Sec. Jesse helped her through law school (and then she gave me love advice, haha). That the bulky black watch she normally wears was his. How he always bought a "hers" to his watches, and how he wanted to wear matching clothes with her. Then a rundown of how their love story began: He sent feelers through old-school telegram. Courted her formally at home, and courted her parents, too. When he earned her 'yes,' he already knew and couldn't wait to spend his life with her. And encouraged her to pursue her dream of becoming a lawyer.

Sometimes, at the most random moments at work—in the middle of conversations with sectors, a visit to a poor household, an official function—you can catch her touching that vial that hangs close to her heart, or playing with her wedding ring. Perhaps by instinct, or coincidence. Her phone wallpaper is a photo of them in a hug. When the going gets tougher, she posts about him. She says she is thankful their three girls took after their Papa. She keeps him nearby as she believes in the Filipino's right to dream, the work she does patterned on the leadership he espoused. She may even channel his reported perseverance/stubbornness at times.

We're conquering dragons on the daily, and there's always an extra urge to fight back when the attack taints this story. A loss led to all of this. She tells the story dry-eyed: losing her husband so suddenly, a "tragic crash" turning her world upside down. It's been written that she braved through opening the body bag, to make sure that the remains recovered from deep in the sea, after the longest three days, was the love of her life.

People tend—or choose—to forget that loss is painful. There is nothing more painful than losing him, she has said. She does not like playing the widow card, but here she is, picking up where he left of. She tries, every day, as she treads through her own narrative, anchored by the ring that bore his faithfulness and that vial in which a part of him rests. #

Statement of Atty. George S. Briones,
General Counsel of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP)

16 January 2022

1. In page 38 of the petition of Fr. Buenafe, he suggested that the penalty of perpetual disqualification from holding office under Section 252 of the 1977 Tax Code is "deemed written" in the dispositive portion of the Decision of the Court of Appeals.

There is no clear law in this, because the Tax Code is unlike the Revised Penal Code with explicit rules and long standing jurisprudence on accessory penalties. UNDER ARTICLE 26 OF THE REVISED PENAL CODE, A "FINE" DOES NOT CARRY WITH IT THE ACCESSORY PENALTY OF "PERPETUAL DISQUALIFICATION" FROM HOLDING OFFICE. Whereas under Article 41 of the Revised Penal Code the penalty of reclusion perpetua shall carry with it the accessory penalty of perpetual absolute disqualification, whether it is written in the dispositive portion of the decision or not. AS IT IS, THE DECISION OF THE COURT OF APPEALS IS SILENT ON THIS POINT. BEING A SPECIAL LAW AND TO BE PRECISE THERE IS A NEED TO INCORPORATE RESPONDENT'S ALLEGED PERPETUAL DISQUALIFICATION FROM HOLDING OFFICE UNDER SECTION 252 OF THE 1977 TAX CODE, IN THE DISPOSITIVE PORTION OF THE DECISION OF THE COURT OF APPEALS.

MORE SO BEING A GRAVE PENALTY, WHETHER AS A PRINCIPAL PENALTY OR AS AN ACCESSORY PENALTY, A SANCTION WHICH PROHIBITS A CITIZEN FROM HOLDING PUBLIC OFFICE FOR THE DURATION OF HIS LIFETIME, NEEDS TO BE WRITTEN IN THE DISPOSITIVE PORTION OF THE DECISION IN ORDER TO INFORM THE ACCUSED OF THE PENALTY METED UPON HIM BY THE COURT, SO HE CAN APPEAL SUCH CLEARLY STATED ADVERSE JUDGMENT TO THE HIGHER COURT.

Therefore, before this Honorable Commission can cancel the certificate of candidacy of respondent, it must first annul the Decision of the Court of Appeals, to write in the dispositive portion thereof respondent's perpetual disqualification, before it can pronounce that respondent lied in his COC when he said he is eligible to run for president, when he allegedly is not, under Section 78 of BP 881.

UNFORTUNATELY FOR THE PETITIONERS, THIS HONORABLE COMMISSION HAS NO JURISDICTION TO ANNUL DECISIONS OF THE COURT OF APPEALS TO INCLUDE THE PENALTY OF PERPETUAL DISQUALIFICATION IN THE DISPOSITIVE PORTION THEREOF. (Please see Section 5, par. 2, Article VIII of the Constitution on the powers of the Supreme Court.)

Hence, the Second Division of this Commission on Elections has no other recourse but to dismiss this petitions filed against respondent for lack of jurisdiction.

FOR ONE THING IS ABUNDANTLY CLEAR, PERPETUAL DISQUALIFICATION IS NOT "DEEMED WRITTEN" IN THE DECISION OF THE COURT OF APPEALS DATED 31 OCTOBER 1997. BECAUSE IF IT WERE SO, THE COMELEC WOULD NOT HAVE ALLOWED BBM TO RUN FOR GOVERNOR, CONGRESSMAN, SENATOR, VICE PRESIDENT, AND NOW PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES.

Philippine History / Senator Mariano Jesus Cuenco
January 16, 2022, 10:14:10 PM

On January 16, 1888, Senator Mariano Jesus Cuenco was born in Cebu. He passed the bar in 1913 after finishing law at Escuela de Derecho (now Manila Law College). He then served as representative of Cebu's 5th District from 1912 to 1928, succeeding General Troadio Galicano.

Cuenco was eventually elected Cebu governor in 1931, serving until 1934 when he became a delegate to the Constitutional Convention. President Manuel Quezon would in 1936 appoint Cuenco as Secretary of Public Works, succeeding Quezon himself who was then in an acting capacity. It was said Cuenco was supposed to be appointed as Cebu City mayor, but the move was allegedly opposed by Vice President Sergio Osmeña, Sr. By 1941, Cuenco was among those elected to the Senate, but the Second World War interrupted their tenure.

In 1946, he became one of the proponents of holding presidential elections prior to the granting of independence, going over to the side of Manuel Roxas and the newly formed "Liberal wing" of the Nacionalista Party. He was reelected to the Senate during the same year.

On February 21, 1949, a resolution was filed by Senators Lorenzo Tañada and Prospero Sanidad to investigate the incumbent Senate President Jose Avelino. When Avelino's tactics to prevent Tañada from delivering his privilege speech led to an adjournment, 12 remaining senators in the plenary decided to proceed with the session and declare the Senate presidency vacant. In the process, Cuenco was elected as per another resolution by Senator Sanidad. The following day, President Elpidio Quirino recognized Cuenco as "Acting Senate President." Avelino, meanwhile, worked to file his petition in the Supreme Court, arguing that the twelve who supported Cuenco would not be sufficient to represent a quorum. Six justices voted to deny the petition as against four.

Although losing for reelection in 1951, he was able to win another term two years later, once more as a Nacionalista. He would remain in the Senate until his death in February 1965.

Prior to his political career, Cuenco had already been known as a prolific writer and journalist. As publisher of the Spanish language publication "El Precursor," he also launched a Cebuano translation called "Ang Mag-uuna." It ran from 1907 until the outbreak of the Pacific War in 1941. Cuenco then founded "The Republic" by 1947. He was decorated with the Order of Isabella the Catholic. Learn more: https://history-ph.blogspot.com/

Health and Food / Dr Anthony Fauci and Covid
January 16, 2022, 10:47:01 AM
#1 on AMAZON, and a NEW YORK TIMES, WALL STREET JOURNAL, and USA TODAY NATIONAL BESTSELLERPharma-funded mainstream media has convinced millions of Americans that Dr. Anthony Fauci is a hero. He is anything but. As director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Dr. Anthony Fauci dispenses $6.1 billion in annual taxpayer-provided funding for scientific research, allowing him to dictate the subject, content, and outcome of scientific health research across the globe. Fauci uses the financial clout at his disposal to wield extraordinary influence over hospitals, universities, journals, and thousands of influential doctors and scientists—whose careers and institutions he has the power to ruin, advance, or reward. During more than a year of painstaking and meticulous research, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. unearthed a shocking story that obliterates media spin on Dr. Fauci . . . and that will alarm every American—Democrat or Republican—who cares about democracy, our Constitution, and the future of our children's health. The Real Anthony Fauci reveals how "America's Doctor" launched his career during the early AIDS crisis by partnering with pharmaceutical companies to sabotage safe and effective off-patent therapeutic treatments for AIDS. Fauci orchestrated fraudulent studies, and then pressured US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulators into approving a deadly chemotherapy treatment he had good reason to know was worthless against AIDS. Fauci repeatedly violated federal laws to allow his Pharma partners to use impoverished and dark-skinned children as lab rats in deadly experiments with toxic AIDS and cancer chemotherapies. In early 2000, Fauci shook hands with Bill Gates in the library of Gates' $147 million Seattle mansion, cementing a partnership that would aim to control an increasingly profitable $60 billion global vaccine enterprise with unlimited growth potential. Through funding leverage and carefully cultivated personal relationships with heads of state and leading media and social media institutions, the Pharma-Fauci-Gates alliance exercises dominion over global health policy. The Real Anthony Fauci details how Fauci, Gates, and their cohorts use their control of media outlets, scientific journals, key government and quasi-governmental agencies, global intelligence agencies, and influential scientists and physicians to flood the public with fearful propaganda about COVID-19 virulence and pathogenesis, and to muzzle debate and ruthlessly censor dissent.

NORTH-SOUTH COMMUTER RAILWAY PROJECT

Did you know that different segments of the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) Project were attempted to be implemented: 1st in 1994 together with the government of Spain and the private sector (a.k.a. Northrail Project); 2nd in 1999 together with the government of Japan (JBIC); 3rd in 2004 together with the government of South Korea (a.k.a. North-South Linkage Project); and 4th from 2002-2011 together with the government of China (a.k.a. Northrail Project)?

After more than two decades and attempts of four administrations to implement, as of June 2016, the 147-km., 35 stations NSCR Project, had zero awarded contracts, zero physical progress, and zero trains ordered / started production.

Worse, the latest attempt to implement the project ended up in a protracted legal battle in international arbitration (Northrail vs. SINOMACH), which threatened to further delay and stall progress on the NSCR Project as of June 2016.

In 2017, I, as Northrail ex-officio Chairman, and BCDA President Vince Dizon, concluded a historic out-of-court Settlement Agreement of the legal dispute with SINOMACH, which saved the Philippine government more than PHP5 billion ($100 million) in potential payment of claims to SINOMACH, and hundreds of millions more in legal fees and arbitration costs. More importantly, the Settlement Agreement removed this legal obstacle to the progress of the NSCR Project.

Now, with assistance from the Japanese Government / Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), PNR Clark Phase 1 (Tutuban-Malolos; 38 km.) and PNR Clark Phase 2 (Malolos-Clark; 53 km.) are now in full swing construction, and delivery of the NSCR's 58 8-car Train Sets (464 Train Cars or bagons) have started, with the 1st Train Set already delivered in November 2021. Meanwhile, all nine civil works contracts for the construction of PNR Calamba (Manila-Calamba; 56 km.) are about to be awarded within the 1st quarter of 2022.

As of December 2021, PNR Clark 1 has a 53.85% overall progress rate, PNR Clark 2 has a 34.46% overall progress rate, and PNR Calamba has a 28.62% overall progress rate.

The NSCR System will cut travel time from Clark International Airport to Calamba, Laguna from over 4 hours to as short as 1 hour and 30 minutes, and is expected to serve more than 1 million passengers per day after full operations.

On January 7, 1942, the withdrawal of Filipino and American forces to Bataan was completed after the gallant defense at Layac Junction, marking the start of what would become known as the "Battle of Bataan." The retreat to the peninsula which projected into Manila Bay was part of War Plan Orange, the prewar defensive strategy for the Philippines that General Douglas MacArthur initially deviated from. For the past month, December 1941, the Allied forces tried to confront the Japanese landings right on the beaches, but this proved to be a seemingly unrealistic response.

Thus, preparations for the defense of Bataan, decided upon on Christmas Eve of 1941, were rushed and mismanaged. This led to reduced rations as soon as the battle began. War Plan Orange, for one, provided only to accommodate supplies for around 40,000 troops, supposedly enough to sustain them for six months. Then again, some 80,000 troops retreated to Bataan, already beyond the plan's expectations.

In addition, Bataan had not yet been stocked with most of the supplies as stipulated in the plan, with some still in reserve in Manila which fell a week earlier. This made it difficult to maintain the two defense lines mandated by War Plan Orange, those in Abucay and in Mauban. The best units were utilized to keep the lines intact throughout January 1942 as the reserve lines were formed. Furthermore, the Japanese operated with fewer troops (at 40,000 initially), while their overall combat effectiveness improved relative to the Allies, particularly in terms of naval and air power. They did have problems to deal in common, such as the prevalence of disease and fatigue.

The legendary resistance at Bataan, which lasted until April 9, 1942, apparently did not derail Japanese plans elsewhere. The following areas came under Japanese control before Bataan was over: Thailand (December 9, 1941), Hong Kong (December 25, 1941), British Malaya and Singapore (February 15, 1942), Dutch East Indies (March 9, 1942). As early as February 19, Australia was hit with Japanese air raids. Still, the defense of the Philippines grew in popular consciousness, solidifying not only views on the American legacy, but also on Filipino resilience. The battle was made the theme of subsequent adaptations such as Bataan (1943), So Proudly We Hail! (1943), Cry 'Havoc' (1943), and Back to Bataan (1945).

Meanwhile, the aftermath of the battle saw the horrifying "Bataan Death March," which forced thousands of prisoners of war to travel to Capas, Tarlac by foot. Casualties from this punitive transfer ranged from 5,000 to 18,000.

The inhumane conditions of the death march also threw into serious doubt the reality of Japanese intentions, as well as their pan-Asian rhetoric, especially since many of the prisoners were Filipino soldiers. The Bridge of Spain from south side of Pasig River. Manila, Philippines, late 19th or early 20th Century.

It's the first bridge built to cross the Pasig River constructed during the Spanish colonial era and the last incarnation of bridges that span the same location since 1630. It collapsed during the heavy rains of September 1914 that weakened the central pier collapsing the middle span of the bridge. The Puente, which was located at one block upriver at Calle Nueva (now E.T. Yuchengco Street), was temporarily kept open using a temporary truss bridge while the new bridge is being constructed at Quintin Paredes Street. Jones Bridge was constructed parallel to this bridge then decommissioned. It was not built on top of the old bridge.

The boy is standing on a pile of coal that was unloaded on the bank of the river.

On January 1, 1899, President Emilio Aguinaldo addressed the Malolos Congress to propose establishing "national solidarity" with the people of Sulu and Mindanao upon the basis of "real federation with absolute respect for their beliefs and traditions." Throughout 1898, the Aguinaldo-led government had made attempts to gain the support of the Muslim datus in the name of unity, highlighting how other ethnic groups such as those in the Cordillera have joined the cause of the Philippine Revolution. It had also warned how the Americans would curtail liberties as the Spanish had done. This was done as reports were received in Luzon on how some Muslim warriors fought against the revolutionaries as they had fought the Spanish.

Philippine History / Gabriel "Flash" Elorde
January 02, 2022, 05:09:02 PM

On January 2, 1985, legendary Filipino boxer Gabriel "Flash" Elorde died due to lung cancer. Fighting 118 bouts in four weight divisions during the span of his pro career, Elorde lorded over the super featherweight for seven years (1960 to 1967). This made him the longest reigning Filipino boxing champion until Donnie "Ahas" Nietes broke the record in 2014. Nietes was also a fighter in four weight divisions.

At the age of 16, Elorde made his professional debut in 1951, and was able to win the OPBF regional title for the bantamweight division the following year. It was also his first match outside the Philippines, fighting in the famed Kokugikan Arena in Japan. Meanwhile, he won his first world title when he knocked out American boxer and defending world champion Harold Gomes in the Araneta Coliseum. This was in the super featherweight division. Gomes would never fight for a title match after Elorde.

Elorde's boxing style was said to have integrated the eskrima, a Filipino martial art, and has since influenced out-boxer fighters. Even outside the ring, Elorde loomed large in the consciousness of the Filipino public. From TV commercials to films, he was present. The Elorde Awards, inaugurated in 2000 as the highest recognition of Filipino professional boxers, has been created in his honor. Among the more recent awardees are also Filipino titleholders, namely Jerwin Ancajas (super flyweight), Johnriel Casimero (bantamweight), and Pedro Taduran (minimumweight).

Philippine History / The Battle of Baliwag, Bulacan
January 01, 2022, 12:26:38 PM
By the Filipino Historian Page

On December 31, 1941, the Tank Battle of Baliuag (Baliwag) in Bulacan saw the first successful engagement of American tanks in the Second World War. Supported by Filipino artillery, the US 192nd Tank Battalion, mainly composed of M3 Stuart light tanks and M3 Gun Motor Carriage half-tracks, was ordered to face the Japanese 7th Tank Regiment under Colonel Seinosuke Sonoda (園田農之助). It was said to be one of the Japanese tank regiments at the time with a German observer.

The Japanese utilized the Type 95 Ha-Gō light tanks and Type 89 I-Gō medium tanks. In the ensuing combat, the Japanese 37-mm and 57-mm guns proved "ineffective" against American armor, whereas the Americans claimed to have taken down eight Japanese tanks. Japanese records, meanwhile, indicate only one of their tanks was lost, a single Type 89. Nonetheless, this was accomplished with no tank loss on the American side.

This victory, while rare during the course of the Philippine campaign, was eventually overshadowed by subsequent events, including the evacuation of Baliuag. By January, the combined Filipino and American forces withdrew to the Bataan Peninsula, in line with War Plan Orange. As for Sonoda, he would be killed in action on April 6, 1942, days before the surrender of Bataan. He was posthumously promoted to the rank of major general.

1844: The Year Philippines Lost December 31?

For most of the time Spain ruled the Philippines, the archipelago followed the date in the Iberian Peninsula. This meant the Philippines was practically a day behind her Asian neighbors. That is, until 1844, when Spanish Governor General Narciso Claveria decreed to rectify this timekeeping error, moving the calendar ahead in the Philippines.

As a result, December 31, 1844 virtually vanished from Filipino calendars, skipping to January 1, 1845. Nonetheless, even after New Year 1845, the International Date Line for some geographers looked like how this 1888 German encyclopedia (pictured) called Meyers Lexikon portrayed it. This was evidence that nations remained unaware of Claveria's move long after the Governor General ended his service.

Philippine History / How Dr Jose Rizal Died
December 31, 2021, 09:16:42 AM

At 6:30 a.m. on 30 December 1896, Jose Rizal, bound elbow-to-elbow, left Fort Santiago by foot for Bagumbayan field, accompanied by a bugler, a drummer and two Jesuit priests, Fr. Estanislao March and Fr. Jose Villaclara.  They took the Paseo de Maria Cristina, now called Bonifacio Drive.  Behind Rizal was his defense counsel Lt. Luis Taviel de Andrade.  A squad of soldiers surrounded them as they walked slowly.  Upon reaching Bagumbayan field, Rizal placed himself in the middle of the square, filled with 400 men, with a band playing.

Eight native soldiers composed the firing squad. Behind them were eight Spanish soldiers with Mauser rifles, ready to shoot the native soldiers if they refused to shoot Rizal.

Rizal refused to be shot in the back, saying he had not been a traitor to the country or to Spain. But the Spanish captain in charge of the execution told him that he had orders to shoot him in the back. Rizal reluctantly agreed, but he firmly refused to kneel or be blindfolded.  One last request of Rizal was that the soldiers spare his head and instead shoot him in the back near the heart. The captain agreed.  Rizal then shook hands with his defense counsel, Lt. Taviel de Andrade and thanked him for his efforts in defending him.  A military doctor came to take his pulse; it was normal. The Jesuits raised a crucifix for him to kiss, but Rizal had already turned away silently and prepared himself for death.

The order to fire was given.  Before the shots rang out, Rizal shouted,"Consumatum est!" (It is finished!).  When the bullets hit their mark, Rizal made a last effort to turn around, thus, falling lifeless with his back on the ground, his face to the sky.  Another soldier gave the body a "tiro de gracia" -- one last shot to make sure Rizal was dead.  Shouts of "Viva Espana!" rent the air.  The band of the regiment struck the first chords of "Marcha de Cadiz."  By 7:03 a.m. the execution was over.

It is said that a dog (mascot) ran around the lifeless body, whining.  Whose mascot was it?  Nobody knows, or nothing was written about it except that it was captured by the camera's eye as being among the crowd that witnessed the execution that morning.

On December 15, 1875, General Emilio Jacinto was born in Manila. As one of the youngest generals of the Philippine Revolution, Jacinto also earned the moniker "Brains of the Katipunan" (Utak ng Katipunan) owing to his contributions to the revolutionary society.

Joining the Katipunan as "Pingkian" (Flint), he was actually a nephew of one of the society's founders, Jose Dizon. Since then, Jacinto rose to senior positions in the Katipunan, including the post of secretary in 1895. He also contributed to the intellectual development of the Katipunan, as observed in his works for the newspaper "Kalayaan" (Freedom) and the "Kartilya ng Katipunan" (Katipunan Primer). In writing, he used another name - "Dimasilaw." His law studies would be interrupted by the outbreak of the Philippine Revolution in 1896.

Jacinto displayed courage early on with initial skirmishes at Pasong Tamo, fought a few days prior to the Battle of Pinaglabanan (San Juan del Monte) on August 30, 1896. In December of the same year, while Andres Bonifacio was in Cavite, Jacinto was appointed as Chief General (general en jefe) in charge of coordinating plans of the High Military Council in the North. This council covered the areas of Manila, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, and Morong (now Rizal).

He would continue fighting well into the Filipino-American War, where he died of malaria on April 16, 1899 while keeping the resistance in Laguna. To date, his only existing photograph featured his dead body still holding his rifle (recuerdo de patay). History / Japanese Captain Isao Yamazoe: Philippine Hero
December 15, 2021, 08:02:55 AM
Captain Isao Yamazoe

Captain Isao Yamazoe also known as "Captain Yamasoy" is a WWll Japanese officer who ordered his men to not abuse the locals-including prisoners.

Captain Isao Yamazoe arrived in the town of Dulag, Leyte in the Philippines in 1943. He was a Japanese soldier, and he was there as an occupying enemy but he left as a Filipino hero.

His friendship with the locals saw him playing judo and even serenading with them. To foster friendly ties between locals and the Japanese,"Captain Yamasoy" went as far as initiating "morning calisthenics (radio taiso), athletics (tennis and basketball), and cultural shows, dances and movie screenings for the entertainment of the residents.

He is a good leader, smiling captain, and friend to everyone. When Captain Yamasoy got word that a Filipino guerrilla unit was planning to attack his garrison, he was worried about civilian casualties.

He contacted the guerrilla unit and asked them to meet him outside of town so that no innocents would get hurt in the battle. They agreed but ambushed him on the way, believing they were getting rid of one more tyrant. After Captain Yamasoy died, though, a new commander took over. All of Yamasoy's programs were canceled.

Today, there is a shrine to his memory in the city, dedicated to the one man from the enemy army who treated them like human beings.

1992: MIRIAM WON IN THE VOTING, BUT LOST IN THE COUNTING

"When I ran for president in 1992 - remember I won in the voting, but lost in the counting - like all the other candidates, I had to go to all the major cities throughout the country, to deliver campaign speeches. Many of my opponents rented their crowds, meaning that the candidate provided the buses and jeepneys, gave the food, and even paid every person who went to the rally.

I had no money, so I merely relied on the energy and courage of young people. They begged for rejected wood from lumber yards and built the campaign stage, which sometimes crashed to the ground because it was overcrowded. I was cheated, only because my youth volunteers could watch the counting only by staying sleepless for three straight nights. When my volunteers went home to sleep, the power brownouts began all over the country. That rendered us helpless."

On December 13, 1990, President Corazon Aquino signed RA 6975, transforming the law enforcement agencies from military to civilian units, placing thereof under the jurisdiction of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). This was in accordance with the provisions of Section 6, Article XVI of the 1987 Philippine Constitution, which is to form "one police force... national in scope and civilian in character, to be administered and controlled by a national police commission." From this reorganization came the present-day Philippine National Police (PNP), the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP). These units were formerly part of the Armed Forces of the Philippines known as the Philippine Constabulary-Integrated National Police (PC-INP) by virtue of Presidential Decree No. 765 of President Ferdinand Marcos in 1975. Nonetheless, prior to PD 765, police forces were previously under the direct control of the local government units.

While the BJMP and the BFP are directly under the administrative control of the DILG, the PNP has devolved into the supervision of another entity — the DILG's National Police Commission (formerly under the Department of National Defense), with the DILG Secretary as the Commission's ex-officio Chairperson. The PNP, likewise, assumes the police functions of the Philippine Coast Guard and the Philippine Air Force. It is also mandated to establish the Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC), an institution tasked to provide training and continuing professional education to all PNP, BFP, and BJMP personnel.

In 1998, RA 8551 amended some provisions of RA 6975 pertaining to PNP's personnel qualifications and role in internal security operations. It also laid down the vision of the PNP as "a community and service oriented agency responsible for the maintenance of peace and order and public safety." Later amendments were added concerning the BJMP and the BFP's further professionalization through RA 9263 in 2004.

AFP joins 158th Bonifacio Day Commemoration

CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) joins the national celebration of the 158th Birth Anniversary of Gat Andres Bonifacio on Tuesday, November 30.

"The Armed Forces of the Philippines joins the Filipino people in celebrating Andres Bonifacio Day as we pay tribute to the Father of the Philippine Revolution, whose patriotism and heroism left a legacy of liberty, dignity and sovereignty for our country and people," AFP Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Andres Centino said.

The AFP Chief joins President Rodrigo Duterte who leads a wreath-laying ceremony at the Spirit of Pinaglabanan Monument in Pinaglabanan Shrine, San Juan City on November 30, 2021.

This year's celebration carries the theme 'Bonifacio 2021: Pagbubuklod para sa Kaligtasan at Kalusugan ng Bayan' (Uniting for the Safety and Wellness of the Nation').

"Today, 158 years after his birth, Gat Andres Bonifacio's nationalistic spirit, which inspired the Katipunan and spurred our ancestors to unite and fight to establish our Republic, still lives on among us. His love of country, bravery, and sacrifices serve as enduring ideals that every freedom-loving citizen strives to emulate and pursue," said Lt. Gen. Centino.

The President also confers posthumously the Order of Lapu-Lapu with the Rank of Magalong to Gat Andres Bonifacio. The great granddaughter of the hero, Buena Grace Distrito Casanova received the award.

Also present in the ceremony are Cabinet Secretary and Acting Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Karlo Alexei Nograles, San Juan City Mayor Francisco Javier Zamora, and National Historical Commission of the Philippines Chairperson Dr. Rene Escalante.

In a message, the AFP Chief hopes that the heroism of Gat Andres Bonifacio will continue to inspire all members of the military organization.

"To the men and women of the Armed Forces, may the patriotism and heroism of Gat Andres Bonifacio empower us to remain faithful and steadfast in our mandate of protecting the people and securing the state, which shall similarly inspire us into becoming more competent and dependable public servants that the Filipino people can truly rely on," he said.

From Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago's book, Cutting Edge: The Politics of Reform in the Philippines

Of the Philippine presidents, the most vocal about reform was Ferdinand Marcos. He became president for two terms, and was disqualified from seeking a third term under the Constitution. In a stunning maneuver, toward the end of his second tem, he imposed martial law, and was thus able to secure ratification of a new Constitution, which allowed him to extend his tenure of office. He justified the imposition of martial law with the oft-repeated slogan: To save the Republic and reform society." As a skilled orator, he frequently expatiated on the need to reform society of graft and corruption. But he was in the end a failed administrator, and after his death, political scientists could point only to a redesigned agrarian reform program as the sole beneficial reform of note that could be credited to him. In fact, by the time of his overthrow in 1986, he had turned into the paradigm of a society that desperately needed reform.

The only Philippine president who achieved any lasting attitudinal refom in the culture of corruption was Ramon del Fiero Magsaysay. He had successfully ran for Congress as a party man, and won as president under the same party, against an incumbent who had been tarred and feathered for disreputable management methods, including official purchase of a gòld-plated chamber pot. Magsaysay was not only an honest president, but was also perceived to be honest. So rare is honesty as an official virtue in the Philippines that Magsaysay remains he best-loved and most popular public figure in thís country, on the strength alone of his honesty in public service and in private actuations. He was a political comet; in an increasingly corrupt milieu, he was a virtual heavenly body with a starlike nucleus. The Filipino poor becamea luminous mass around him, as he followed his own parabolic orbit around the sun of clean and honest government.

With Magsaysay's premature death in a plane crash, everything in the presidency went downhill fast. Succeeding presidents simply lost control, as the bureaucracy careened on the side of bribery, extortion, and plain malversation of public funds. The government went over the cliff during the Marcos years, piling up a gargantuan foreign debt that, together with the mounting domestic debt, effectively mortgaged the future of the Filipino nation.

Philippine Showcase / Panguil Bay Bridge in Mindanao
November 12, 2021, 02:32:54 AM
Though the pandemic is still very much present in the country, the national government's infrastructure projects are moving just as scheduled.

Just last week, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) gave an update on one of the Duterte administration's main infrastructure plans – the Panguil Bay Bridge in Mindanao.

According to the agency, work on the major thoroughfare remains unhampered. In fact, bored piles for the piers and abutments are already halfway done.

History / Navajo Code Talkers Unbreakable
November 11, 2021, 07:21:54 AM
In 1942, the first group of Navajo code talkers, recruited by the Marine Corps, were tasked with a nearly insurmountable job—coming up with an unbreakable code. Over the course of the war, not one, but two types of code were developed:

The first type of code, referred to as "Type One Code" was essentially a simple cypher. Navajo Code Talkers used English words for each letter of the alphabet and then translated these words into their native language. For example, the letter "C" was represented by the English word "cat" and the Navajo word "moasi". To say "CODE" in Type One Code would be moasi (C-cat), ne-ahs-jah (O-owl), lha-cha-eh (D-dog), dzeh (E-elk).

Clearly, spelling out words letter by letter would be cumbersome and slow, so a second "Type Two Code" was also developed. This code assigned Navajo words to common pieces of military equipment. For example, "besh-lo" (iron fish) meant "submarine", "a-ye-shi" (eggs) meant bombs, and "tsidi-ney-ye-hi" (bird carrier) meant aircraft carrier.

Once newly recruited Navajo Code Talkers memorized the codes and competed training, they were sent to Marine units in the Pacific theater where they transmitted coded information over telephones and radios. During the battle for Iwo Jima, six Navajo Code Talkers successfully transmitted more than 800 messages without any errors—a crucial part of the American victory there.

The Japanese were so perplexed by the Navajo code that it remained unbroken throughout the war. In fact, the code was so successful that it was not de-classified until 1968, meaning that the Navajo Code Talkers who had been so critical to victory, were left without recognition. In 2001, 60 years after the United States entered the Pacific War, Congress awarded Congressional Gold Medals to the Code Talkers. Today, we mark their achievements with National Navajo Code Talkers Day on August 14th.

JUST IN: Sen. Panfilo "Ping" Lacson withdrew this week his authorship of the Senate bill seeking to reinstitute the death penalty for heinous crimes.

In a letter to Senate Secretary Atty. Myra Villarica, Lacson also requested that his bill, Senate Bill 27, no longer be considered for deliberation by the Senate panels concerned.

Last week, Lacson withdrew his support for the death penalty for heinous crimes, saying it is better to spare the life of a criminal than to wrongly execute an innocent person.

"Mas mainam na ang guilty ikulong habang buhay sa halip na inosente ma-execute dahil sa pagkakamali (Better that the guilty be imprisoned for life than to have innocents executed because of a wrong judgment)," he said. | via Eunice Samonte

By Prof. Jose Butch Dalisay Jr.
Rebellion and resistance are coded into UP's DNA, because we have always encouraged critical thinking, which in turn encourages—at least for a while, until complacency sets in—an attitude of dissidence, of anti-authoritarianism, of rejection of the status quo. That's how knowledge happens, that's how it begins, as every scientist since Galileo has affirmed.

... The true heart of UP lies neither in the Right nor the Left, but in that great liberal middle—"liberal" with a small "L"—whose members value the freedom to think, to speak, to study, and to teach, subscribing neither to State propaganda nor to Party doctrine, but trusting their own reason and education to illumine the way forward.

... I pray that we will continue to breed students who will not only be outstanding performers and citizens but also Filipinos of conscience who will march again for good and right when the country calls. Learning to lead requires critical thinking; learning to follow demands nothing more than blind conformity.

Health and Food / Health Benefits of Pumpkin Seeds
November 05, 2021, 12:15:29 PM
Health benefits of pumpkin seeds

mayaman sa magnesium na sa nuts and seeds lang talaga madaling kunin (at risk kayo na magkadeficiency if you don't include nuts and/or seeds in the diet)
good source of vitamin E
lower vitamins and minerals compared with sunflower seeds pero higher in zinc

HINDI classified as tree nuts so puwede (WITH CARE since ang ibang nagbebenta ng seeds ay may benta ring nuts so may chance ng cross-contamination) sa mga allergic sa cashew, almond, etc
HINDI classified as legumes so puwede sa may G6PD deficiency

personal opinion: I prefer na magsunflower and pumpkin seeds muna ang patients ko before trying chia seeds later lalong lalo na sa mga kulang pa ang awareness sa tamang preparation ng baby food.

Huwag iserve nang buo sa mga batang under 4 years old or may swallowing disorders. Consult your pedia if not sure.

"6 to 12 months old: Offer scant amounts of smooth pumpkin seed butter thinned with breast milk, formula, or yogurt or sprinkle a scant amount of finely-ground pumpkin seed in warm cereal or on fruit. Use a food processor, coffee grinder, or spice grinder to pulverize the seeds until they are finely ground. Don't serve ground seeds on their own because they are sticky and likely to get caught in your baby's throat."

A Pasay City regional trial court ordered yesterday the government to pay an initial $62 million as "just compensation" to the Philippine International Air Terminals Co. (Piatco), the builder of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 (NAIA-3) that was expropriated last month.

In a four-page order, Judge Henrick Gingoyon of Pasay City RTC Branch 117 directed the Landbank of the Philippines branch in Baclaran, Parañaque City to release to Piatco $62,343,175.77 that the government has specifically made available for the expropriation proceedings.

Pending final court order and full payment of just compensation to Piatco, the government was allowed "to maintain, preserve and safeguard NAIA-3 or perform acts or activities in preparation for its direct operation" but prohibited it "from exercising acts of ownership like awarding concessions or leasing any part of the facility to other parties."

One of the leaders of the crusade against government corruption and a staunch promoter of social reforms in the Philippines is Maria Ana Consuelo Abad Santos Madrigal.

She is from a family of nation-builders and public servants. She is the granddaughter of a national hero and martyr, Supreme Court Chief Justice Jose Abad Santos. Her granduncle, Assemblyman Pedro Abad Santos, was the father and founder of the Socialist Party of the Philippines and a well-known defender of the poor and the oppressed. Her paternal grandfather is Senator Vicente Madrigal, a businessman., industrialist, and one of the Philippine Republic's elected senators in 1949.

Her aunt, Senator Pacita Madrigal-Gonzales-a senator during the Quezon and Magsaysay administrations-was the first Administrator of the Social Welfare Administration, the predecessor of today's Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Even before she became a senator, she had set up numerous foundations to help the Filipino people. The Books-for-the-Barangay Foundation, Inc. has shipped more than P2.5 billion worth of books for Philippine public elementary and high schools. The Abad Santos Madrigal Foundation, Inc. empowers women and children through relevant and accessible livelihood programs. The foundation's flagship project, the Basic Reflexology Training Program, has trained more than 10,000 reflexology therapists nationwide. The ABLE Foundation, Inc., meanwhile, has been providing scholarships to poor deserving youth for years now.

Reposted from FB: BAKIT MAS MAGANDANG NAKABUKOD NG BAHAY ANG MAG-ASAWA.

1. Una, dapat iisang reyna at hari lang ang meron sa isang palasyo tama? Kapag nakabukod kayo either rent or sarili niyo ang bahay magkakaroon kayo ng tinatawag nating "privacy" which is very important sa mag-asawa. Like me, I'm an introvert so prefer ko talaga ang may sariling space. Hindi ako makakilos kapag may ibang tao kahit parents o kapatid ko pa. Even my husband introvert din kaya naiintindihan niya ang gusto ko.

2. Magagawa niyo lahat ng gusto niyo. Di bale na maghapon kayong nakahilata , hindi kayo maglinis o tanghali na kayo magising wala kang maririnig dahil your house your rules.

3. Matututo kayo maging independent in everything. Kung ano ang ihahain mo, ano iluluto mo, paano magbudget, paano mo ayusan ang bahay, anong gamit ang bibilhin, kulay ng pintura, etc., etc.

4. You have control over your child. Paano mo palakihin at disiplinahin, ano ipapakain o kung ano yung mga bagay na gusto mo i instill sa anak mo na walang kumukontra.

5. Walang mangingialam kapag may mga problema kayo mag-asawa/partner. Walang kampihan kasi dalawa lang kayo ang adult sa bahay, no one will interfere. Kasi sa buhay mag-asawa it's not advisable na may nangingialam, minsan maliit na problema lumalaki dahil sa sulsol ng mga tao na kasama niyo sa bahay. (This will apply only kapag mga personal problem niyong dalawa not unless na life and death na ano?, you should seek help)

6. Financially responsible . Lahat ng finances niyo kayong dalawa lang ang may say kung paano niyo gagastusin. You'll learn how to save. Matututo din kayo kumayod dahil wala kayong aasahan na magbabayad ng bills at expenses niyo sa bahay.

7. You'll grow as husband and wife. Mas makikilala niyo ang isa't isa.

8. You will have your own identity as a family. Pwede mo tanggalin ang ayaw mo sa nakalakihan mo, you can make your own family traditions.

9. Less stress. Hindi ka naka- tip toe, free ka kumilos na walang mga mata na nakatingin sayo.

10. Peace of mind. That is priceless.

Inday Loren Legarda congratulates Libertad for the "Best in Business Empowerment" recognition during the Digital Governance Awards 2021

Three-term Senator and now Deputy Speaker Inday Loren Legarda congratulated the municipality of Libertad, under the leadership of Mayor Mary Jean Te, for being awarded the Best in Business Empowerment Award during the Digital Governance Award 2021.

The Digital Governance Awards (DGA) is an annual search for best practices among local government units in utilizing information and communications technology (ICT) to effectively and efficiently deliver public services to its constituents and to its business stakeholders.

Libertad's entry, the eWaterworks, provides a digital system where data from the billing systems are integrated automatically into the financial system of the municipality. Because of this, the generation of billing of more than a thousand consumers is faster and more systematic through a bar coding system.

"I congratulate Mayor Mary Jean Te for bringing pride to our province and raising the bar in governance and delivering effective public service to our kasimanwa through the use of information and communications technology (ICT)," Legarda stated.

The DGA is organized by the ICT Industry Development Bureau (IIDB) of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), in partnership with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP).

Mayor Bebot Nicopior-Te
Municipality of Libertad, Antique

Philippine Provinces / Senator Bong Go in Agusan del Sur
November 01, 2021, 07:43:01 PM
