No one is perfect in this world, Buwad.

Doesn't matter if you are Filipino, American, German, Israeli, Egyptian, etc. Being one race doesn't predispose you to being 'toso' or 'good'.

We are all human, and with that, have human qualities; including vices as well as virtues.

In my opinion, it isn't fair to judge the Jewish people and group them as what you have done.

Look at your point of view and analyze it from our point of view. It's rather narrow-minded.

Back to the subject matter, as I wish not to continue in perfidious commentries with Buwad. Your points have no bearing, sad to say, as your failure to accept scriptural primacy is rather futilistic.

To comment on the original poster's main intent:

It is important to understand the historical analysis of the situation when concerning the situation in the ground that has affected the Middle East, per se Israel and its neighbors. Pictures alone is not credible enough to explain the deep intricacies of the political aspects that has led to the establishment of the state of Israel and its struggle for almost 60 years.

The situation is far more complex as what mere pictures of the 2000 Intifada portrays.

Christ Jesus himself was a Jew. The same people who you have continuously attacked, the irony of it all.

Additionally, your points were all wrong.

As there is direct and total scriptural evidence to the claimant right of the Israeli people and the territory of Judea/ Israel-proper.

Your points have no bearing. Stick to the subject matter, lol.

Read sacred scripture and the LORD specifically tells Joshua that he is GIVING the land to the Israelites.

All the world is HIS. It is HIS to give and to take away.

to all,
tama hindi lahat masama but there was a point in history where they were exterminated by the germans(hitler) because they, the majority, of these jewish race were "toso" getting richer by black marketing while the germans were at war during world war 2. these people were abhord in east and west europe before until the british gave them a land and called them israel but in the territory of the palestinians. in fact its not only against muslims or arabs against the jews but there were skirmishis against palestinian christians too. because as i say lisod isilingan ning mga tawhana kay they are "toso". they influence america, with the rich US jews in monetary contribution to destroy an arab country with an arm capacity to fight against israel like what they did in Iraq para sila pa gihapon ang dunay gahum(toso) so no wonder why the Iranians are arming now to take the position of Iraq inorder to defend the arab world.

pusta-anay, Obama is now leading against McCain but if Obama would say that he will not defend Israel or the interest of the jews in M.E. sigurado talo sya sa election. sigurado ako nyan!

correct me if I'm wrong. when Moses arrived in what they called the promise land from egypt there were already people leaving peacefully in that land. the jews wage war against them and won led by Joshua. With that, I may can call them, these jews - THE FIRST LAND GRABBER IN RECORDED HISTORY.

Wrong.

No one can actually assess who was the first 'land grabber' in history as human history is over 10,000 years old.

Additionally, prior to the establishment of the Kingdom of Judea and Kingdom of Israel, there was already the Empire of the Pharaohs. When Upper and Lower Egypt were combined under the rule of Ramses II, he not only seized control of all of Egypt, but also neighbouring Numidia, and conquered what is now present day Judea, and made wars with the Hittites, the Sumarians, and the Assyrians.

This was, of course, centuries before the establishment of the Kingdom of Judea and Israel.

Secondly, if you actually read Sacred Scripture, Buwad, and I recommend that you do so as you are a Roman Catholic and should have a better understanding of biblical notaries as to evade in posting such ludicrous statements.

It was The Lord God who commanded and commissioned Joshua to conquer lands:

Through Moses, God had provided His people with laws and guidelines that would help them live together in peace and love, trusting and following their heavenly King. Then, starting in v. He makes a beautiful promise concerning victory over the enemies in the land.
A comparable victory takes place in our lives. By our union with Jesus, we have been made citizens of heaven where Christ reigns and where God’s will is done. However, until the enemies are “driven out” and every territory of our lives cleared for Him, we cannot fully experience the rest which He delights to give us.

--   Read Exodus 23:20-24

And the LORD GOD spoke from HIS own MOUTH:

After the death of Moses the servant of the LORD, the LORD said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses' aide: 2 "Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to themâ€"to the Israelites. 3 I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. 4 Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphratesâ€"all the Hittite countryâ€"to the Great Sea [a] on the west. 5 No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.

"Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them. 7 Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

what started the conflict between israel and palestine? i think it's been going on for ages dating back before christ was born.

Israel is Israel. The Hebrew people are as old as the ruins of the Temple of Solomon that still stands in Jerusalem.

The ancestors of the Israeli people were the Hebrews of the olden days. The people of Aaron, of David, of Saul, of Solomon, of Jeremiah, of Jebediah, of Anas, of Zachariah, of Abraham.

The world 'Palestine' is synonimous with Philistinia, otherwise known in biblical accounts as Phillistines. The people of Goliath.

Israel and Phillistinia were never close. The history between these two peoples have been synonymous with blood and conflict.

Lor, the picture tell us that what they did to the poor palestinians is not a God's way from a loving, and ever merciful God!

These jews are hard headed people oppresive and love to do black marketing even in the middle of war like what happen during world war 1, they get richer while the germans are fighting thats why hitler did try to exterminate this race.

These are random pictures that are created and posted for a propagandistic purpose, Buwad.

You have only seen one side. That is the Palestinian side.

Have you seen the tens upon thousands of Jews who have been maimed by Muslim Terrorists?

Have you seen the buses that were filled with Christian and Jewish pilgrims being exploded and obliterated by Suicidal bombers that target christian and jews?

Have you seen the Israeli-Palestinian Wall where hundreds of Palestinian suicidal bomber would-bes that are caught by Israeli Defense Forces daily? Yes and I am talking about a daily process here. It is by the grace of the Almighty that they are caught and assessed properly.

I cannot find sympathy for anyone who blow themselves up and kill the innocents and dare to deign it a will of GOD.

The Palestinians are Arabs. Brothers of the Jordanians, Syrians, Egyptians, Lebanese etc. Have you seen the refugee camps in Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt? Where even the Arabs treat the Palestinians as below dirt?

This is not only a phenomenon reserved for the Hebrew and Israeli people. Nay! If the Arab states, which are larger in area and size compared to Israel and could easily house the Palestinian refugees.

These pictures are also taken during the Intifada of 2000. Do you know what Intifada is, Buwad?

Intifada was a Fatwa by Islamofascist clerics in the region to declare a Holy War against the Jewish people. One of the many thousands that have been declared in the mosques in this region.

If you were  a nation that was targetted and hated by your neighbors, you would also take up a defensive policy in regards to foreign diplomacy and territorial jurisdiction.

Do not judge an entire people, Buwad. Who are you to judge the Jewish people, you are not God. Nor are you the describer of the Law. Remember that Our Father in Heaven declared that the Jewish people are His people. Everyone else is Secondary. As did not our Father in Heaven swallow up the Arabs when Pharaoh dared to chase Moses across the Red Sea?

Our Father in Heaven declared it with his own mouth:

I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, so that you will be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you. All the communities of the earth shall find blessing in you."

Today I was in the anatomy lab for 5 hours. I and 4 others volunteered to remove the superficial fascias of the 3 new cadavers we received. Dr. Raj showed me the 'blunt' dissection techniques in removing the laminal sheath as well as encouraged me to perfect the 'surgical' knot. lol.

It was a good day, considering we completely removed the anterior thoraco-abdominal fascias and thereby exposing the extrinsic muscles.

Beautiful specimen, in my honest opinion.

Later this week we will excise the abdominal sheath.

Israel will never be exterminated. History has made its case in terms of Israel and the Jewish People.

And that is: RESILIENCY

In A.D 70, when Rome purged Jerusalem and scattered the Jewish people in an attempt to exterminate her, the Jewish people fled to the 4 corners of the middle east, to Rome, to Europe and even to parts of Asia.

Despite constant attacks to christianize the Jewish people by the Catholic Church, still the Jews retained and stayed true to their faith, under pain of death.

During the Spanish Inquisition of the late 15th century, many Jews were castrated and murdered for being Jewish and hated by Spaniards for their 'mastery' in the banks and in managerial economics. Many Jews fled Spain and the Iberian peninusula for the New World; many of them scattered and relocated in Germany, France, Poland, and Russia.

For almost 2 thousand years they were repressed and targetted via scape-goating.

The Nazi Dictator, Adolf Hitler and his henchmen wanted to eradicate the 'Jewish Problem' once and for all in their 'Final Solution' and killed and murdered over 12 million European Jews. They failed.

Nazi Germany was pummeled by the Allied Forces and Hitler committed suicide with his henchmen taken to the Hague and hanged by the hangman's noose for their war crimes.

The Jews were also targetted and attacked in Soviet Russia; millions of them sent to the Gulags, or sent to Siberia. Millions of Jews were killed in Stalin's policies and were blamed for so called 'questionable loyalties.'

It is amazing for me, as a historian, to analyze the events of history. In that despite the tries and attacks of the Jewish people; they have survived every attack to their existence.

Stalin and the USSR crumbled and perished. Nazi Germany was wiped out and defeated, with Hitler, a man who fashioned himself a God of the Aryan Race, committed suicide.

While the Jewish People have survived every storm that has come their way.

The Arab-Israeli Wars, the 7 day War, etc, Israel has defeated its enemies every time.

Just as THE ALMIGHTY was with David, King of Israel, in his battle with Goliath of the Philistines.

And I wonder to myself, how is it that Israel is able to retain its RESILIENCY despite the attacks it receives from enemies. And then I read Sacred Scripture and the answer falls to my face. The Holy Spirit reveals to those who seek.

The Lord GOD declares:

Thus says the LORD, He who gives the sun to light the day, moon and stars to light the night; Who stirs up the sea till its waves roar, whose name is LORD of hosts:

If ever these natural laws give way in spite of me, says the LORD, Then shall the race of Israel cease as a nation before me forever.

Thus says the LORD: If the heavens on high can be measured, or the foundations below the earth be sounded, Then will I cast off the whole race of Israel because of all they have done, says the LORD.

--Jeremiah 31: 35-37

Personal Remark

The heavens can never be accurately measured, nor can the earth be fully sounded. And the wonders of the Lord can never be fully understood by man. As the created cannot fully understand the CREATOR.

Israel will remain, by the WILL of the MOST HIGH.

WHO IS GOD FOREVER ETERNAL.

These pictures are very graphic, and when one analyzes the frictional region of the Middle East, particularly in the Holy Land (Israel and Palestine), one has to understand the history of the conflict between Israel and its neighbors, who have attacked her and threatened her very existence as a nation and state. Both sides, Israel and Palestine, are responsible for attacks on each other.

Israel, which is under threat and continuous suicidal attacks by not only Palestinian radicals as well as other neighboring religious radicals. Which, by right, has forced Israel to adopt a perfidious defensive foreign policy. Which has been enacted, for the safety of the citizens of Israel from relentless threats.

Israel is the only nation in this world that is under constant threat from its neighbors. It is the only 'western' democracy in the Middle East with interests in the global markets. It retains a fairly accepting and religiously-speaking, moderate policy regarding those working in Israel proper.

Its policy hasn't been 'clean' and 'blood-proof' when dealing with Palestine.

The same can be seen in PLO-controlled West Bank and Gaza Strip. Illiteracy and malcontent has grown in Palestine and hate remarks and hate speeches from radical islamofascists in Iran as well as in Saudi has only instilled the deep divide between Israel and its neighbors.

As devastating as the loss of human life is, in regards to the Palestinians in these photos, one should not be quick to judge an entire people, the Jewish people, for the actions of the military. The Israeli Military completes its task according to the given power it is entitled by the law under the auspices of the Israeli Government. For the preservation of the state of Israel and for the protection of the Israeli people and inhabitants within its territorial jurisdiction.

I feel it was rather unbecoming for Buwadsanga to make such trite comments on the whole of Jewish people. And I apologize on behalf of Buwadsanga.  As not all Jewish people are responsible for the deaths of Arabs, per se Palestinians. The Jews are a peaceful people, and one that have developed a fine mastery of economic policy and manifested their mastery in making a 'paradise' out of deserts.

Case in point, prior to the establishment of the state of Israel, the Holy Land was a barren waste land. With little to no resources. No natural river and reservoir. After the 1947 and after the declaration of the State of Israel and subsequent wars (Arab-Israeli Wars) and after Israel's absolute victory against the Arab states that threatened its existence, made it policy to develop the land of ISRAEL. 60 years later, Israel has been a light compared to the rest of the middle east. It is a financial leader of the world, in its gardens and valleys, which are all green and irrigated. In the valleys of Israel (where it once was barren desert before they arrived) are filled with green vineyards. Its people are prosperous, despite the looming threats of its enemies.

Yet it is sustained. :)

Why is this so?

Simple answer: Because Israel and the Jewish people ARE the chosen people of ALMIGHTY GOD.

The Voice of the Lord declares:

"At that time, says the LORD, I will be the God of all the tribes of Israel, and they shall be my people.
Thus says the LORD: The people that escaped the sword have found favor in the desert. As Israel comes forward to be given his rest,
the LORD appears to him from afar: With age-old love I have loved you; so I have kept my mercy toward you.
Again I will restore you, and you shall be rebuilt, O virgin Israel; Carrying your festive tambourines, you shall go forth dancing with the merrymakers."

--Jeremiah 31: 1-6

and again, The Lord God declares from His Mouth, which is the bread of life,

"The days are coming, says the LORD, when I will seed the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man and the seed of beast.
As I once watched over them to uproot and pull down, to destroy, to ruin, and to harm, so I will watch over them to build and to plant, says the LORD.
In those days they shall no longer say, "The fathers ate unripe grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge,"
But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD. I will place my law within them, and write it upon their hearts; I will be their God, and they shall be my people."

--Jeremiah 31:27-31

Ma'am Tess,

There are two places that I would love to visit in Germany. For reasons of historical importance.

The first one is Berlin. Its importance in Prussian History and in both World Wars.

The second one is Heidelberg; particularly Heidelberg University College of Medicine. The reason is because the famed Dr. Jose P. Rizal went to that school and did light studies during his specialization in Ophthalmology.

Germany, to me, is an essential part of Western European History. Under the rule of Emperor Charlamegne, First King of the Holy Roman Empire (Germania and France), the central European heartland blossomed in Christian writings and culture.

The pomp and majesty of German princes heralded armies to clash with French Lords, Milanese Dukes as well as Polish and Lithuanian Kings. Thereby shaping the history of Europe. In the past and to this day, in the present.

Bible Study / Re: Why Patience is such a Virtue?
October 15, 2008, 05:23:20 AM
Gener,

There is a particular passage in the Book of Psalms that you would love to read.

I am talking about Psalm 37.

However, this is the specific verse that I am trying to relay:

Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.  Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.  For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

--Psalm 37:7-9

Patience is what defines our character. Patience is also the volume of our faith. To be able to believe and stay true to your faith in Christ Jesus, as well as in Sacred Tradition in lieu with Sacred Scripture, that is what illustrates faith.

It parallels the faith of our brothers and sisters who have gone before us centuries and millenias ago.

God Bless,

During undergraduate college, I used to go out every weekends or go out to eat on some days with friends. I am a proud classical dancer (waltz, swing, fox trot, cha-cha etc), I was an avid naturalist. I would go hiking frequently, jogging in the forest, and kayaking.

As of right now, though, I really don't have much of a lifestyle.

My life revolves in waking up at 6 am, getting ready and driving to medical school. I have class at 8am till 5 pm everyday. So pretty much my 'free' time has been spent on reading and covering material for the next day of lecture.

I've grown used to and developed a liking on my study group dates. lol.

Rather geeky, but it keeps me entertained during studies.

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.

-Isaiah 40:28

Amen! Amen! Amen!

It is pronounced, His works and His imprint is observed in the study of anatomy, embryology, histology, genetics, physiology, microbiology, pathology etc; all of which are taught in Medicine.

His wondrous works, in how he has willed our formation in the mother's womb.

How he has willed it that even though when we, the child, grow inside our mother's womb, that we are not attacked by our mother's immune system due to the 'acceptability' of our mother's immune defense (monocytic-macrophage targetting system) to our presence in her womb.

Why is it like that? What made the mother's immune system not attack us (which are foreign objects in the womb); yet at the same time the immune system can attack anything else foreign?
BECAUSE PROVIDENCE had DEIGNED it so.

Why is it that throughout all of the human race, matters not if one is black, white, asian, latin etc; at the 3rd week of gestation in the mother's womb, our fetal heart forms from the allantois!
And at the 5th week of gestation (a little over 1 month after fertilization), our fetal heart pumps!

And what is more rapturous and amazing is that when it first turns 'on' it immediately pumps fetal blood. And continues to do so.

How is it that it was on the 5th week that it begins to pump?

Yes, we understand the processes, but how did it happen, and who decided it to happen that way? Only PROVIDENCE knows.

His miracles and his glorious works are so obvious to us. If we only take a second to look and digest at the glorious works of our Lord.

There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs.

Luke 12:2-3

Meaning: The truth will always come out. Even if it isn't immediate or even if it takes thousands of years to be discovered. It will always come out. The lies of politicians, and dictators, rulers and kings came out after their passing. As our Lord is a God of Truth, so too is the spirit of Truth cometh from Him.

When Jesus was in the temple to talk to learned men, priests and the pharisees, he had patience for 3 days to learn from them and to teach from them. Patience and Wisdom were His, that His Father was Glad with Him.

When Christ Jesus, The Only begotten Son of the Father, went to Galilee to talk to the Hebrews and to hear their pleas and their requests to be cured. He had patience. Patience to offer His Word and to Hear their Cries.

When Our Lord, Jesus Christ, WHO is GOD Blessed Forever, was judged under Pontius Pilate and spitted by the Jews and nailed to the cross, he had Patience, and asked His Father to Forgive Us for we knew not what we were doing. Patience!

When Apostle Peter went to Rome to teach and evangelize the gentiles, he had patience to spread the word UNDER fear of death.

When Apostle Peter was nailed to the cross upside down, he had patience to demand that he be nailed upside down because he was unworthy to be crucified in the same manner as The Lord Jesus Christ.

When Apostle John was condemned to death by Nero to a pot of boiling oil, he had patience to reiterate the Word of God. Even when he did not die in oil and came out unscathed, he still had patience. And when the entire colloseum converted to Christianity at seeing this miraculous event, still Apostle John had patience.

Patience is truly a virtue.

Blessed Angel Gabriel, The Angel who stands before the Throne of the Most High, Prince of the Heavenly Hosts,

O loving messenger of the Incarnation, descend upon all those for whom I wish peace and happiness. Spread your wings over the cradles of the new-born babes, O thou who didst announce the coming of the Infant Jesus.

Give to the young a lily petal from the virginal scepter in your hand. Cause the Ave Maria to re-echo in all hearts that they may find grace and joy through Mary.

Finally, recall the sublime words spoken on the day of the Annunciation-- "Nothing is impossible with God," and repeat them in hours of trial--to all I love--that their confidence in Our Lord may be reanimated, when all human help fails. Amen.

Judith Johnson went to the Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, Delaware for what she thought was a bad case of indigestion.

An hour after being admitted, the hospital told Johnson’s husband his wife was dead, Wilmington's News Journal reported Tuesday.

When someone at the morgue noticed Johnson’s “corpse” was still breathing, Louis Johnson learned his wife was very much alive.

The Johnsons are now suing the hospital and medical staff for compensatory and punitive damages.

“She is brain injured, but can walk and talk,” the Johnson’s attorney, Dr. Leon Aussprung told The News Journal.

Judith Johnson, 61, of Georgetown, Del., was actually having a heart attack when she arrived at the hospital in May 2007. Less than 45 minutes after she arrived, she went into cardiac arrest.

She was given "multiple medicines and synchronized shocks," according to emergency room records, which also indicate she was not given supplemental oxygen. The records also say she "never regained a pulse," and was declared dead at 8:34 p.m.

Johnson now suffers from liver damage, chest pain, memory loss, speech problems, and a change in personality, seizures, and permanent neurological injury as a result of the care she received at Beebe Medical Center, according to the lawsuit.

Beebe medical officials did not directly comment on the lawsuit.

“The situation that you described, while rare, is not unheard of,” said Wallace Hudson, Beebe’s vice president of corporate affairs. “It is called spontaneous return of circulation, otherwise known as ‘Lazarus syndrome. Medical literature points out that since 1982, there have been at least 25 reported cases of survival after failed resuscitation.”(the foxnews)

Interesting case study.

The patient has little to chance in winning this case against a hospital. Though the patient came back to life; clinically she was declared dead due to the lack of pulse; the attending physician has the power to declare the patient 'dead' if there are no signs of physiological activity. In this particular case they followed all procedures to revive the patient including multiple shocks via defibrillator as well as vasodilative drugs, still no avail.

The spontaneity of her cardiopulmonary system coming back 'online' after these initial resuscitative tries are what intrigues me.

My best answer for this right now is:

a)Vasodilatory drugs increased her blood flow, but the effect was probably prolonged probably due to her size. The woman is probably overweight and thereby prolonging the effects.
b) Perhaps an abboration in her heart to respond to the defibrillator shocks in a prolonged manner

In any effect, the patient should definitely have consulted with her cardiologist in placing a pacemaker to prevent further similar situations from metastasizing. Medically speaking, the physicians and medical staff did what was demanded of them and followed medical procedures to the book.

It is luck for the individual that awoke even before the Coroner had the chance to perform the autopsy.

I will ask my instructors more about this.

Analytically, Sen. McCain has been erratic these past weeks.

His age and his frailties precede him.

For the sake and for the good of Our Nation, Obama must win this election.

I have my respects for McCain, but I have little confidence on McCain's VP candidate, Palin.

God Forbid anything should happen to McCain in office (note that he has a history of cancer and the man is in his golden age of 70+); then Palin, God Forbid, would become the President of the United States.

A total nightmare.

Too Risky?

Though I associate myself with the conservative party, and a supporter of Presidential Candidate, Dr. Ron Paul, I however went out of my way to support Sen. Obama instead of McCain.

McCain's policies are directly similar to that of Bush's. His economic plan and his medical insurance plan is what churns me.

Speaking as a Medical Student, and a proponent of life, and patient rights, we have over 40 Million non-insured American Citizens in the United States simply because they cannot afford it. The majority of these people are elderly and children of lower-income families.

McCain's policy when it comes to this aspect is based on : Economic Priority. At the expense of our un-insured Americans who live by day to day. Fearing that they don't get sick because they simply don't have the finances to afford an insurance plan that costs anywhere within 5000 to 6000 dollars a year.

In terms of education reforms. It is evident that Bush's 'No-Child Left Behind' Act has been a total and absolute failure. McCain is a proponent of this failed legislation.

We, fellow Americans, have suffered the pains of the Bush Administration for the past 8 years. Our economy is in shambles (just today the DOW dropped 600 points). Our military is over-stretched, our people are in turmoil, and we have been at war for over 5 years. And still no peace in sight.

It is in this time of turbulence and need that we desperately need someone to lead this country, our GREAT country, into the NEW PAX AMERICANA.

My support goes to Senator Obama.

First and foremost,

The United States needs to make sure that the United States Armed Forces begin our pull-out of Iraq by 2009. The United States Armed Forces has already trained an Iraqi Force of 400,000. They need to start to shoulder their share of the burden and Washington desperately needs to leave Iraq.

We are spending over $10 Billion everyday we are there in Iraq.

In one month alone, the United States spends over $300 Billion just in Iraq alone.

We have been in Iraq since 2003.

What we need to do in the coming 2009 year is to revamp our foreign policy and how we, The United States, deals with the world. The United States needs to start to cooperate and work with its global partners in handling situations and to evade in repeating the unilateralism that has been attributed to the incumbent Bush Administration. Which, in my opinion, has been a failed administration in terms of economic reforms, military revampancy, etc.

I have faith in the USA to take itself out of this hole. God Bless the USA!

"Nature" is more influential than "nurture":
Knowledge arises from genetic information honed by a process of natural selection. Some portions of this knowledge might be nurtured, but genetically determined forms also may modify how we categorize our experiences.

In looking for the causes of individual differences in intelligence, a major issue is the relative contribution of genetics and environment.

references:

http://www.accessexcellence.org/LC/SER/BE/whata.php

http://wilderdom.com/personality/L4-1IntelligenceNatureVsNurture.html

http://www.trinity.edu/mkearl/socpsy-2.html

The degree of intelligence an individual has is predisposed during the phase of chromosomal dysjunction of the germ cells: the father's spermatozoa and the mother's oovum.

Intelligence is dependent on two major neuronal metastasis:

1)The degree and ability of the CNS and primarily the cortices the cerebrum, the cerebellum to retrieve, reclaim, and pronounce stored memory.

     Integral to that are:
     a) The length of the neuronal fibers that propagate the neuronal electrical impulses
and reach the terminal target site.
     b) The availability of the oligodendrocyte cells to allow proper insulation and
          conduction of neural electrical impulses
     c) The availability and the functionality of cerebellar and cerebral cortices

If an invididual's neural processes as mentioned above, are inhibited or impeded in anyway as in occlusion, chromosomal abboration due to malformation of the granulocytes caused by a defect in proteins such as spectrin, integrins, alpha 4.1, etc; then there will be a pronounced inhibitory effect or inability of the neural processes complete its assigned task, which has been evolutionarily pre-programmed.

Genetics, as already mentioned, is an influential role. As the amount of myelination of our axons, our prokaryons, our glial cells etc depends on our genetic codets that has been acquired from both germ cells of the mother and father.

I submit that intelligence of an individual is not based on genetics alone, but genetics has substantial predisposition. An individual can have all the faculties to retrieve memory and to understand complex concepts due to an active memory cortex, however, if that individual does not apply his/herself, then their given genetic gifts would be of no avail.

Environment plays a role in this by motivating or demotivating an individual. This is where environmental niche 'nurture' plays its part.

Mr. Ferniz,

On the light of the given topic, I would also like to share with you that our CNS and PNS are able to regenerate even after neuronal degeneration. So long as the damage is on the prokaryo itself and not on the particular axon; that the axon isn't severed.

Within the PNS, we have satellite stem cells, which are of primordial mesenchymal cell origin. And upon damage of the Schwann Cells (which forms and produces myelin that coats the axon of the PNS) the satellite stem cells with metastisize and form into schwann cells and cover the affected axon and thereby produce myelin and maintain the conductory aspect to allow continued neural electrical impulses to propagate to its end terminal site.

The CNS also has highly regenerative capability, however, our body's ability to regenerate damaged neural tissue is limited to the type of damage as well as the age of the individual.

Lorenzo, kindly explain how some geniuses like Stephen Hawkings with a deteriorated physical state managed to maintain his brilliant theories and equation of the universe despite his near vegetative condition.

I remembered a movie about Adolf Hitler's clones, I forgot the title, it sounds like The 5th Protocol or something. Where, 5 clones of Adolf Hitler were raised in different environment. Their differ intellectually but have common character traits, like they have strong determination. Also they end the lives of their pets who does not meet thier expectations. That was an old movie when I was in high school. This movie tells that character traits are in the gene.

Simple.

Brilliant men such as Professor Stephen Hawkings have not lost their neuronal sheaths that is responsible for the transduction of neuronal electrical impuses in their brain. Therefore, they have total control of their memory, and mastery of concepts such as found in Physics: Relativity, Worm Theory, Vortex-Space Black Holes, String Theory etc.

Individuals such as Professor Hawkings may have had neuromuscular fibrillar problems; thereby resulting in physical imobility, however, there is no damage to their CNS. The PNS might have been affected; and regenerative capacity inhibited, however, the CNS, which is the controller of complex processes, physiologically speaking, has remained untouched.

Within the CNS, there is a rich presence of oligodendrocytes, which are able to transmit messages. Compared to the more limited Schwann Cells and Astrocytes found in the PNS (peripheral nervous system).

The way our bodies are organized, Mr. Ferniz, our cortical and cerebellar corteces are alien from moter nerve branches. Hence the presence of the differentiation of CNS and PNS. Thus,j any damage to the PNS will have little to no direct effect on the CNS, as in the case of Dr. Hawkins and individuals that have his condition of neuromuscular dysjunction.

Cheers, Sir!

murderers?
people with very high IQs?
people who prefers the same sex to love?

do you think it is because of their genes OR because of their environment and how they were brought up?

Individuals who are 'intelligent' or have 'high IQs' are nothing special, imho.

There is a physiological/medical explanation for everything.

Individuals with excellent memory and retrieval of memory and understanding of concepts (mathematics, science, linguistics etc) is because of the development of their nervous system.

Within a nervous system, there is the CNS, and the PNS. The CNS = Central Nervous System and the PNS = Peripheral Nervous System.

Medically speaking, in the central nervous system messages are propagated from the brain and spinal cord via a anterograde direction with help of the oligodendrocytes that covers and invaginates around the axon that runs and connects one neuron to another via the synaptic clefts. Because of the -65mV gradient in the axolemma there is a 1/10th concentration of NA++ (sodium) inside the axolemma and there is a high presence of Sodium ions outside in the extracellular space. There is also a high concentration of K (potassium) inside the plasma. However, when electrical impulses are transversed form the brain to its terminal destination, the impulses changes the membrane in that it allows the NA ion channels to open thus allowing all the NA ions to enter the membrane due to the natural gradient (via passive diffusion). This continues until the charge within the particular neural membrane changes to +30mV and this leads to a closure of the NA ion channels and prevents NA form coming in; this presence alters the K presence in that K will flow back due to attraction to the positively charged NA ions inside. This forces the NA to be removed out and K invagination propagates the electrical impuse from one axon to the the next axon until it reaches the terminal end; thereby allowing the release of neurotransmitters or neuromodulators (such as epinephrine or norepinephrine calcitonin, etc) and leads to its direct effect on glands, muscles, or other parts of the brain to retrieve information. etc.

Critical to the immediacy of electrical nerve impulses in its trajectory is the proper myelination of axons via Oligodendrocytes, Schwann Cells, Astrocytes, Glial Cells etc. These structures form a fatty deposit and covers the axon thereby allowing it to conduct the electrical neuronal impulses. The myelin sheath forms a protective layering almost like the plastic covering that is above copper wires to allow and enhance the flow of messages in a telephone wire, cable wire etc.

Naturally and physiologically speaking, the thicker an individual's myelin sheath are (which are impeded or regulated or enhanced by the level of schwann cell, oligodendrocytic activity etc). Thereby allowing the quick afferent and efferent relaying of neuronal information to its terminal sites.

All of which, are genetically determined. Genetics plays a role in the status of the axon of a person's given brian, and the wiring of their cerebral and medullar cortex.

An individual with excellent wiring in the neuronal aspects will, by right of physiological explanation, will have a faster memory recognition, faster and more effective understanding of concepts, memory imputing. And an individual with weaker neuronal wirings will, by right of physiology, have a weaker faculty.

Biology and Science explains everything.

The study of Biology teaches that nature and nurture both plays a role in the creation of individuals and their personalities and actions within a given physical niche (society in general, per se).

Medically and Scientifically speaking, we are all pre-programmed via the manifestation of chromosomal junction during the phase of meiosis and mitosis. In the selection of what chromosomal types would be given to the offspring via the genetic prints of the father's spermatozoa and the mother's oovum.

By the power of fertilization; half the traits of the father and half the traits of the mother have been impinged into the offspring, immediately. Genetically already pre-programmed.

However, genetics only plays a 50% role. Environment is also a determining factor in the metastasis of the individual's personality. If an individual grows up in an abusive and harmful environment, is plagued with peer pressure, societal pressures, then of course, the individual will develop into what his or her environment demands--with genetic determinism playing a role. The antithesis of this example can also manifest.

Biologically speaking, both niche and genetics are the determinant factors.

The Bible Indicates that In Addition to the Written Word, we are to accept Oral Tradition.
Perhaps the clearest Biblical support for oral tradition can be found in 2 Thessalonians 2:14, where Christians are actually commanded: "Therefore, brethren, stand fast; and hold the traditions which you have learned, whether by word, or by our epistle."

Sacred Tradition complements our understanding of the Bible and is therefore not some extraneous source of Revelation which contains doctrines that are foreign to it. Quite the contrary: Sacred Tradition serves as the Church’s living memory, reminding her of what the faithful have constantly and consistently believed and who to properly understand and interpret the meaning of Biblical passages. In a certain way, it is Sacred Tradition which says to the reader of the Bible "You have been reading a very important book which contains God’s revelation to man. Now let me explain to you how it has always been understood and practiced by believers from the very beginning."

The Catholic Church emphasized that the Scriptures must be read in light of the apostolic Tradition that was handed down through the ages.
As Saint Peter writes in his epistle, Scripture is not a matter of personal interpretation.
It therefore must mean that it is a matter of public interpretation, and that is the interpretation of the Church.

The Church has always encouraged reading the Scriptures.

In fact, the Catholic Church is the one who first translated the Scriptures into the vernacular.
Since the Catholic Church holds that the Bible is not sufficient in itself, it naturally teaches that the Bible needs an interpreter. The reason the Catholic Church so teaches is twofold: first, because Christ established a living Church to teach with His authority. He did not simply give His disciples a Bible, whole and entire, and tell them to go out and make copies of it for mass distribution and allow people to come to whatever interpretation they may. Second, the Bible itself states that it needs an interpreter.

The doctrine of Sola Scriptura overlooks â€" or at least grossly underemphasizes â€" the fact that the Church came before the Bible, and not the other way around. It was the Church, in effect, which wrote the Bible under the inspiration of Almighty God: the Israelites as the Old Testament Church (or "pre-Catholics") and the early Catholics as the New Testament Church.

To say that the early Church believed in the notion of "the Bible alone" would be analogous to saying that men and women today could entertain the thought that our civil laws could function without Congress to legislate them, without courts to interpret them and without police to enforce them. All we would need is a sufficient supply of legal volumes in every household so that each citizen could determine for himself how to understand and apply any given law. Such an assertion is absurd, of course, as no one could possibly expect civil laws to function in this manner. The consequence of such a state of affairs would undoubtedly be total anarchy.

Since the Bible did not come with an inspired table of contents, the doctrine of Sola Scriptura creates yet another dilemma: How can one know with certainty which books belong in the Bible â€" specifically, in the New Testament? The unadulterated fact is that one cannot know unless there is an authority outside the Bible which can tell him. Moreover, this authority must, by necessity, be infallible, since the possibility of error in identifying the canon of the Bible would mean that all believers run the risk of having the wrong books in their Bibles, a situation which would vitiate Sola Scriptura. But if there is such an infallible authority, then the doctrine of Sola Scriptura crumbles.

Another historical fact very difficult to reconcile with the doctrine of Sola Scriptura is that it was none other than the Catholic Church which eventually identified and ratified the canon of the Bible. The three councils mentioned above were all councils of this Church. The Catholic Church gave its final, definitive, infallible definition of the Biblical canon a the Council of Trent in 1546 â€" naming the very same list of 73 books that had been included in the 4th century. If the Catholic Church is able, then, to render an authoritative and infallible decision concerning such an important matter as which books belong in the Bible, then upon what basis would a person question its authority on other matters of faith and morals?

God Bless,

Amen, Ate Ging.

Our Lord, Jesus Christ, Who is God Blessed Forever, has proliferated His message in tradition and good works. The Divine Person in Christ Jesus, is an intrinsic part of God the Father, Who is the Father of the Trinitarian God-Head.

The Holy Prophets of the Old Testament, who were the voices of God unto the people of Israel, were ordained in their ministry by the guidance of Almighty Providence.

Inasmuch as did The Most High make his covenant with Prophet Abraham and his descendants, inasmuch as did The Most High wrote the Ten Commandments on stone for the Prophet Moses after the liberation of the people of Israel from Pharaoh, so has The Almighty willed the continued observation of the Law that he HIMSELF decreed prior to the arrival of HIS Christ.

Verily, my brothers and sisters, has Our Lord Jesus Christ, Who is God Blessed Forever, even reinforces the messages of the VERY Prophets that He sent to the people of Israel beforehand.

Christ Jesus came to reinforce the traditions and the laws that were written of old.

Scripture declares it so:

14“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden;
15 nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
16 “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
17 “Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill.
18 “For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished.

19 “Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20 “For I say to you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.

--Matthew 5:14-20

He came NOT to abolish the law or the message of the Prophets, but He came to fulfill their message.

It is not on faith alone that we are given salvation, but through BOTH good works as well as faith. Anyone can say that they have faith in Christ Jesus but in actuality their hearts are far from him. Good works as well as a close and personal observation of scripture and prayer reflects on the individual as a flowering of the grace of the Holy Spirit.

And it has been told to us that it is in Good works and not just on Faith alone does one recieve salvation from the Most High.

There are so many verses in Scripture that declares it so:

Matthew 16:27
"For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works."

Matthew 25:34-46
"Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal."

Acts 10:35
"But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him."

Romans 2:13
"For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified."

2 Corinthians 5:9-10
"Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad."

Ephesians 2:8-10
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."

Titus 1:16
"They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate."

James 1:22
"But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves."

Matthew 5:14-16
"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

Matthew 16:27
"For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works."

Bible Study / Re: Salvation is NOT based on faith alone
October 08, 2008, 12:08:57 AM
Good Morning mga amigo ug amiga,

I agree that it is the Love of Christ Jesus, who was sent from the Father, in order to conquer the power of sin and death that triumphed in this world before his coming. Prophet Jeremiah as well as Prophet Elijah fortold of HIS coming.

As The Lord Jesus Christ, The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, offered us salvation he specifically reiterated the need to keep to the commandments as well as with traditions as well as in Faith. You cannot have salvation just by completing 50%. It requires 100% of ourselves.

Sacred Scripture Declares:

(James 2:24) - "You see that a man is justified by works, and not by faith alone."

(Matthew 19:1617) - "And behold, one came to Him and said, "Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may obtain eternal life?" And He said to him, "Why are you asking Me about what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments."

God does not want a faith that is empty and hypocritical.  James 2 is talking about those who "say" that they have faith but have no works.  Therefore, people cannot tell if they are true believers or not, because there is no fruit.  That kind of a faith is useless and is not a saving faith.  True faith results in true works.

Peace be with all of you, my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus.

A friend is someone who covers you with a blanket when you fall asleep in the student lounge; and wakes you up before the library closes. :)

Luke 11:5-13

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Suppose one of you has a friend
to whom he goes at midnight and says,
‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread,
for a friend of mine has arrived at my house from a journey
and I have nothing to offer him,’
and he says in reply from within,
‘Do not bother me; the door has already been locked
and my children and I are already in bed.
I cannot get up to give you anything.’
I tell you, if he does not get up to give him the loaves
because of their friendship,
he will get up to give him whatever he needs
because of his persistence.

“And I tell you, ask and you will receive;
seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks, receives;
and the one who seeks, finds;
and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
What father among you would hand his son a snake
when he asks for a fish?
Or hand him a scorpion when he asks for an egg?
If you then, who are wicked,
know how to give good gifts to your children,
how much more will the Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit
to those who ask him?”

I like this verse in scripture because it reminds one to work hard. To help yourself and to use the gifts and faculties that our Loving Father has given us. Honest hard work pays off. :)

Obituary / Re: Reflection on Death
October 07, 2008, 02:27:56 AM
It's interesting that we're discussing this because we are covering the concept of Physician's Roles in treating terminal patients or moribund patients and their families. And talking about this with colleagues allowed me to digest and ponder more about the issue, in a medical point of view.

Speaking as a Medical Student, religious tone aside, not all death is bad. There are cases in the medical field and instances where the passing of death is subltley longed for. An example would be patients (terminal) who are battling the late phase of cancer. Patients who are clinically brain dead, patients who are suffering constant pulmonary embolism. There are patients, who by their right of patient's autonomy, request the status of DNR (do not resuscitate). Some patients, actually, prefer not to be resusciated if in case of infarction; some patients require and refuse blood transfusion in case of a major accident etc. The result of this, inherently, is death.

Now with all sympathy and emotionality aside, one has to look at this as a physician in the best interest of the patient in concurrence with the views of the patient. Death, to them, may not be as sad or traumatic as say to their family or loved members or even to the medical staff (who must retain neutrality; though some circumstances make it difficult to take hold due to the patient-medical provider interaction).

Nevertheless, one has to understand that death isn't always a bad thing. For some of our patients, death is a release from anguish and pain. Death, clinically, is the abation of a painstaking struggle.

Patients who have gone through chemotherapeutics, Dialysis, etc. Some of these patients struggle and by the end phase, many of them, stastically speaking, have already embraced the prospects of death. As a release from pain.

Death is never easy, as we are told to explain to patients and their families. But the most important thing is the family's ability to accept the given stastics and the conditions. Acceptance is key; it is imperative especially for the grieving process.

Yours,

Beloved Ate Grace,

I can feel for your friend who is weeping and mourning the loss of her husband.

There is no easy answer for such questions, especially when it involves something that pierces our souls. There is nothing easy in mourning and the phase of mourning must be dealt with directly as it is the only way for one to move past initial depressive tones.

Death of loved ones and friends is never easy and always unexpected. There is nothing permanent in this life. As the flowers sprout in spring and eventually die in winter; as the caterpillar is born in the spring and becomes a butterfly in the summer and eventually dies in the winter. As leaves sprout forth in spring and fall in the autumn, so too must we.

Our lives our not our own. It belongs to the Most High. And when He calls us home, we obey immediately. As our Loving Father in Heaven gives so he also takes away.

No one is ever ready to go home, my beloved Ate Ging, but we have no choice in the matter. When we are called, we obey. All of us will be called. The time of our return, only our Heavenly Father knows.

John 4:7-15:
7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.

Death is, physiologically and medically speaking, the end phase. There is no feeling after death. Memories, the concept of the 'past', sensations etc are erased. One minute it was there, the next it is gone. It illustrates the immediacy and totality of death.

There is no concept of 'fear' for those who die. As all feelings fade away. When the heart ceases to pump; the brain will abate within 5 minutes of avascularism. Everything shuts down.

The 'fear' and 'pains' of death are for those who are alive. For those who mourn loved ones, friends etc.

Death is the release of the soul from our mortal shells. Think about it as the end of finity and the beginning of infinity.

October 06, 2008, 12:32:40 PM
This weekend has been filled with its share of demands (studies, group reviews, etc) and I was personally having an internal turmoil because I haven't visited church in 2 weeks to attend mass. So I went to the student lounge to do some readings from 11am till 3pm. I took a break from studies by 3 pm and took a walk to digest the information.

Still, I was having internal turmoil because of not attending mass. I could not take it anymore and walked to the nearest Roman Catholic Church from the medical campus, towards St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church.

When I arrived to the church, I tried to open the front doors but they were locked. Ka ingoon ko that I was being reprimanded by Providence and felt distraught. I walked around to the side and was led to the side by sounds of the church bells. To the joy of my heart, I saw that the side doors were open widely. And as I entered the House of God, my heart felt so relieved to be able to come inside. And immediately to my attention I saw the shrine of the Blessed Child Jesus with the Blessed Mother Mary. Santo Nino. Santo Nino, Blessed Child Jesus, has always been with me (I have an image of HIM in my room and have had it since college years; and even in medical school). I was led to church and to the sight of the Blessed Santo Nino, the Child Jesus.

My heart has been relieved and all my inner turmoil has been taken away from me. There really is nothing compared to going to church. Especially visiting the Holy Sacrament. :)

Truly, The Lord works in mysterious ways.

Mother always knows best, that is what I always say.

Everytime I make a mistake or do something wrong, Mom will always tell me. She always somehow knows when I am doing something that I should not be doing and will tell me bluntly not to do it or to focus more on something.

It must be the maternal-fetal bond that I used to share with Mom when I was but a fetus in her womb. The liquids she drank, I also drank. The food she ate, I also took my share of proteins, sugars, glucose etc. The air she breathed, was sent to me through the umbilical artery and umbilical vein. Mother's rich oxygenated blood poured into my fetal lung through the umbilical arterial pathway. And provided the oxygen that allowed my fetal lung to develop and to breath.

Mother's hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) hormone allowed the secretion of progesterone and estrogen, which allowed her to maintain the pregnancy and to maintain my stability in her womb as I grew.

It was Mother's immune system that kept me and protected me as I grew in her womb; though I was a 'foreign' substance that was only half identical to her (the other half coming from the father). It is the miraculous nature of the Maternal-Fetal bond that allows the mother's immune system from attacking the embryo. The mother's immune system literally 'accepted' the status of the embryo and protected the embryo from viruses, bacterial pathogens etc.

Mother's body is so sensitive to the child that the maternal nerves can detect and forms an indirect nerve link to the fetus' while in the womb. Literally uniting the child to the MOTHER.

From a mere blastocyst, from a mere 2-cell stage, we grew in the womb of our MOTHERS. Developed within her and grew because of HER.

There is nothing like a Mother's Love.

Bible Study / Jesus Presented in the Temple
October 05, 2008, 12:51:40 PM
On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise him, he was named Jesus, the name the angel had given him before he had been conceived.

When the time of their purification according to the Law of Moses had been completed, Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, "Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord"), and to offer a sacrifice in keeping with what is said in the Law of the Lord: "a pair of doves or two young pigeons."

Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord's Christ. Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required, Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying:
"Sovereign Lord, as you have promised,
you now dismiss your servant in peace.
For my eyes have seen your salvation,
which you have prepared in the sight of all people,
a light for revelation to the Gentiles
and for glory to your people Israel."

The child's father and mother marveled at what was said about him. Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother: "This child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against, so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your own soul too."

There was also a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage, and then was a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying. Coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.

When Joseph and Mary had done everything required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own town of Nazareth. And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.

The Calling of Levi

Once again Jesus went out beside the lake. A large crowd came to him, and he began to teach them. As he walked along, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector's booth. "Follow me," Jesus told him, and Levi got up and followed him.

While Jesus was having dinner at Levi's house, many tax collectors and "sinners" were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the "sinners" and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: "Why does he eat with tax collectors and 'sinners'?"

On hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

Bible Study / The Birth of Jesus Christ
October 05, 2008, 12:10:05 PM
This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.

But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."

All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuelâ€"which means, "God with us."

When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.

Bible Study / The Lineage of Jesus Christ
October 05, 2008, 12:03:29 PM
A record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ the son of David, the son of Abraham:
Abraham was the father of Isaac,
         Isaac the father of Jacob,
Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers,
Judah the father of Perez and Zerah, whose mother was Tamar,
         Perez the father of Hezron,
         Hezron the father of Ram,
       Ram the father of Amminadab,
         Amminadab the father of Nahshon,
         Nahshon the father of Salmon,
Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab,
Boaz the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth,
         Obed the father of Jesse,
and Jesse the father of King David.
David was the father of Solomon, whose mother had been Uriah's wife,
    Solomon the father of Rehoboam,
         Rehoboam the father of Abijah,
         Abijah the father of Asa,
       Asa the father of Jehoshaphat,
         Jehoshaphat the father of Jehoram,
         Jehoram the father of Uzziah,
       Uzziah the father of Jotham,
         Jotham the father of Ahaz,
         Ahaz the father of Hezekiah,
       Hezekiah the father of Manasseh,
         Manasseh the father of Amon,
         Amon the father of Josiah,
and Josiah the father of Jeconiah and his brothers at the time of the exile to Babylon.
    After the exile to Babylon:
Jeconiah was the father of Shealtiel,
         Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel,
       Zerubbabel the father of Abiud,
         Abiud the father of Eliakim,
         Eliakim the father of Azor,
       Azor the father of Zadok,
         Zadok the father of Akim,
         Akim the father of Eliud,
       Eliud the father of Eleazar,
         Eleazar the father of Matthan,
         Matthan the father of Jacob,

and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Christ.
