Was in the anatomy lab for 3 hours; analyzing the brachial plexus of the upper limb. Identified muscles and their innervations, functions, origins, insertions etc. We had fresh cadavers arrive today so I was able to start to prepare some of the cadavers and exposing the C5, C6, C7, C8 and T1 nerves of the CNS.

As I was making a longitudinal incision on the upper limb of the cadaver, my partner pointed out that the subject had 'pink fingernails'. It so happened that the subject did have pink nail polish still on her fingernails.

Tomorrow we will expose either the anterior thoraco appendiculars or the suprahumeral muscles.

Anatomy was one of my most difficult subjects next to Pharmacology Dodong, but i love Anatomy more than all my subjects. For me that is the most essential part of learning  on how to care/cure a patient... ;)

I really like anatomy, 'te. The volume of information startled me at first, but after a while, if you analyze it system by system; it is pretty digestible.

I love getting in the cadaver lab and just exposing the muscles, innervations, arterial supplies etc.

Last week, 'te, we were introduced to craniotomy. Making a transverse cut of the skull exposing the skull in half.  I've never seen so much CSF in my life.

It was amazing kaayo.

Today we had lab and I led my group in exposing the posterior fore-arm muscles as well as opening the palmar surface. We identified the extensor carpi radialis, extensor digitorum, as well as attachment muscles.

Today was awesome as we were able to peel the palmar fascia of the hand; exposing the thenar as well as the hypothenar muscles. We were able to see the hypothenar prominence and the thenar prominence; and in the central surface, identified the ulnar and median nerves that passed through the carpal tunnel region.

My partner in Anatomy Lab, Korosh, helped me in reticulating the entire superficial fascia of the posterior and anterior forearm. We worked in unison in exposing the superior muscles as well as the identification of deep muscles, their innervations and the septum that divided them.

We had a lab practical today. Perfect score.

:)

This week has been hardcore. We have our first exams for Embryology, Gross Anatomy, Histology, Medical Legal Ethics as well as Lab Practicals this coming week.

Friday was spent in the study lounge from 3pm till 11 pm reviewing with people.
Saturday was spent from 9am till 3pm reviewing.
Today, which is supposed to be a day of rest, will be spent in light reviews. And then hardcore review later this afternoon--as I am meeting up with Korosh later in the study lounge.

Any break time i get is like a relief sent from Heaven.

Tubag Bohol really is my therapy. I am so grateful for this site.

haha, yes I do agree that you are a very creative poet.

Over here, it's getting windy and cold. As I was coming back from class to my apartment, I noticed the beautiful colors in the sky. Such a wonderful day.

Another change in season; another drop in the pool that is infinity.

God is truly Great!

Blessings to you, Ms. Orchids. Enjoy the beautiful Japanese Autumn. Stay warm, Ma'am.   :D

Another super busy day!  Got up early to visit the friend whose husband died on September 8.  Today, I helped this friend named Lucy to get rid of her husband's belongings.  It wasn't easy but she had to let go of some things so she can move on.

My colleagues asked me what was wrong with me earlier today. I concealed the pain in my heart with my face trying to prevent any semblance of sadness from permeating from me.

Yet they were able to detect my sadness.

My friends Korosh, Quang, and Alex were kind to me in comforting me.

I pray to Lord Jesus to continue to guide them and I. That we learn to be wise and personal physicians and always have compassion at the loss of all human life.

Mercy on me today, Lord.

I could not think properly today. I was in blank stare.

I submit to Providence my acquiescence.

That human life is not ours to command and control at a whim.

I submit to Providence that there is only so much one can do to prolong the Life that was given.

Providence gives, so likewise, he will take away.

I am relaxing.

This past Friday I had my exams for Histology and Medical Embryology. This morning we had our exams for Gross Anatomy and Medical Legal Ethics.

I am relieved that I survived this past 2 weeks of constant studying. My life has been situated around the library and the student lounge. And coffee (pure black) has been a warm friend keeping me awake at night.

Some of the medical batch are planning to go out tomorrow night to celebrate our exams. I'm debating to go or not to go. First, I need to go to church. I admit that I haven't gone to church in the past 2-3 weeks because of studies; and I feel so bad about it. Especially when He has been there for me and strengthening me in my times of desperation and need. We shall see.

Tomorrow is a New Day.

korek ka dyan, teng!  pastilan!  when we are trying to balance financial statements that involves millions and millions of pesos, a single peso or even a few cents discrepancy is something we just can't easily ignore.

Today I was in the anatomy lab for 5 hours. I and 4 others volunteered to remove the superficial fascias of the 3 new cadavers we received. Dr. Raj showed me the 'blunt' dissection techniques in removing the laminal sheath as well as encouraged me to perfect the 'surgical' knot. lol.

It was a good day, considering we completely removed the anterior thoraco-abdominal fascias and thereby exposing the extrinsic muscles.

Beautiful specimen, in my honest opinion.

Later this week we will excise the abdominal sheath.

I love Anatomy. :)

I had a long day!  I was at the Feed The Needy and we were caught by surprised at the number of people who showed up.  Usually the first two weeks of the month, we only expect about 50 people but today we had over a hundred!  Nagpaila lang the financial difficulty people are experiencing nowadays.  Anyway, today we made and served beef taco, spanish rice, vegetable salad, fudge, fruit salad and  salsa.  Only a few volunteers showed up so we had to work harder today.  Then, while serving food, I was called by this man and he told me, "this food is not warm.  I can't eat cold food.  see this?"  He gave back the plate to me to have the food reheated.  I didn't know how to react in situation like that so I told the lead person.  He told me to tell the guy "too bad!"  Really, we  still had to serve a lot of people and here's this one person who wants to have his food steaming hot.  So I politely told him, that was the food we were serving.  He grab the plate and said, "I guess I can eat this!"  Tsolokoy, he even asked for second helping!  Ngek jud!  But I was surprised with my reaction kay wala jud ko nag minaldita. heheheh

You always bring a smile to my face, Ate.

Amen!

I would love to do the things you do in the future, 'te.

Feeding the poor is something that defines character, and humility.

Feeding the needy.

Ate, there is a verse in sacred scripture that goes in line with that:

He who gives to the poor will lack nothing, but he who closes his eyes to them receives many curses.
 --Proverbs 28:27

God Bless you, Ate.

Interesting documentary film. I always like culture-clash documentaries.

As for me, had dinner at at friend's house. She cooked me Butter Chicken.

Pakistani-style. Yum Yum Yum.

Kuya, :-[ Percent purity is bugging me...

Problems like:

A 0.7500 gram sample containing Aluminum metal and sand was analyzed. If 0.548 Liters of H2(g) was collected at 20.0°C, what was the mass % of Al(s) in the sample? The vapor pressure of water is 17.54 torr at 20.0°C and the atmospheric pressure was 755.3 torr during the experiment.

I identified units of Mass, Volume, Pressure, and Temperature, which corresponds to the ideal gas law, PV=nRT; R being equivalent to the constant, (0.082057L•atm/K•mol)

After converting to the standard units, I am given:

*0.2800 moles of Aluminum metal
0.548 Liters of H2(g) collected at 293.15K
The vapor pressure of water:  0.2300 atm at 293.15K
and finally, the atmospheric pressure: 0.9940 atm

*I am a little stuck here, because one, it seems like my conversion from grams to moles seems invalid because it is a mixture containing both Aluminum metal and Sand as opposed to just Aluminum alone.  ???

So our main goal is to find the percent yield in correlation to purity. So you already defined the the Ideal Gas Law, which is (PV=nRT):

In this case, P is the absolute gas presure, okay.
In this case, the given V is volume of given gas.
In this case n correlates for gas molecules.
In this case R is the universal gas constant.
In this case T is the absolute temp.

You already provided the universal gas constant as being: (0.082057L•atm/K•mol)

And you already provided the data; so let us apply it.

Theoretically IGL: PV=nRT
Therefore, calculate your data.

What I would do is to utilize boltzman's constant (k) as substitute in order to make this simpler.

When you have your data, find the % purity by the equation:

actual mass obtained/ calculated mass x 100%

Then you should have your answer.

The clouds look so beautiful today. The ones that I've seen so far were that of the cumulus numbus class. Looks like one can just dance around and jump around those clouds--that look so beautiful up there.

The sun is setting right now. And from the view in my apartment, it is gorgeous orange-pink-red.

Guapo kaayo ang view. The Lord is Great. :)
