1) He fed me grapes when I was a little kid, lol. (he came back from Saudi when I was about 9 months old and ingoon siya that when i saw him the first time, i didnt want to be picked up by him. But then gi tagaan ko ug grapes ni dad and then ni open up kono ko niya. hahahaha! Daddy..

2) Hmm, for always being a good provider for the family.

3) For disciplining me when I overstepped my bounds. For showing me right from wrong.

4) For always telling me to respect my Mom.

5) For his humility. My dad is a very simple and humble man. He would give everything and provide everything for his wife and kids first before he gets anything.

6) For his love of dogs, and teaching me how to be patient with animals.

7) Showing me how to care for Lolo Ciano; showing me how to change Lolo's diapers, feed him through a gastro tube, teaching me how to care and the basis of medicine. To Care.

8 ) Always reminding me to watch over my siblings. To never forget my siblings and at times sacrifice for their behalf

9) Just for being my one and only DAD.

I LOVE YOU DADDY RICO. :)

Can you give simple examples of those 4 possible bases of DNA? Like Sodium Chloride (salt) and Hydrochloride (acid), do they have common names?

I'm a noob and sorry for I have plenty of questions.

These are good questions, every question is welcome.

We have to first understand that DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid: meaning that an O2 was cleaved from the 3' to 5'  position from the ribose acid). In DNA we can only have 4 bases.

The bases are: Adenine, Guanine, Cytosine, and Thymine.

However, in RNA (Ribonucleic acid) the bases are: Adenine, Guanine, Cytosine and Uracil. Uracil merely replaces Thymine in the RNA complex.

Know that RNA is produced and utilized during the transcription process where the DNA Helix is unwinded by the DNA Helicase, and the two regions are segregated as the template strand or the coding strand. In the coding strand, the RNA will bind with it to trascribe the protein.

Jose, remember the DOGMA of Genetics and Molecular Biology:
DNA--> RNA--> PROTEINS

But DNA can self replicate and RNA can go back into DNA vis-a-vis the help of the enzyme Reverse Transcripterase.

#41132
Jose,

The structures that were mentioned above just talks about the nucleotides; and the sugar bases that composes the DNA helix.

Know that in a given DNA we have 4 possible bases:
1) Adenine
2)Guanine
3) Thymine
4) Cytosine

Now these bases are subcatechorized according to their conformation (which is due to electrospecificity) as well as to their aromatic structure (meaning, a single or double rigned form).

There are 2 forms:
1) Purines
2) Pyrmidines

The purines are composed of the Guanine and Adenine
The pyrmidines are composed of Cytosine and Thymine

a good way to remember the difference is "CING TUT MADE PYRAMIDS"
this way we remember that C (cytosine) and T (thymine) are of the pyramidal group

When these sugar bases are paired, they have specific conformation with one another.

Meaning that A goes with T
And G goes with C
These unions are facilitated via a Hydrogen Bond.

The variants of ACGT formats is what makes and composes our DNA (coupled with a stable phosphodiester bond, which composes the backbone of the DNA structure).

I shall expound on this later.

Glad to discuss this with you, Jose.
Please, just call me Lorenzo.

Ngano mo judge man ta? Dili man na atong issue. There are so many problems happening in the Philippines. Wives being beaten by abusive husbands; starving children in the streets, Muslims hacking down Christian villagers in Basilan, in southern Mindanao etc.

Yet it is a big deal when one man who is a minister of CHRIST makes a mistake.

Seriously, I commend Fr. Limata for coming out and asking for forgiveness and it is my duty to forgive him. That the Holy Spirit will guide him in his actions and his decisions for the benefit of his family and at the same time to maintain his faith and his support by the flock.

The LORD grant him peace, and forgiveness.
And in sincerity that his prayers are answered according to the Will of the Most High.

The History of the Santo Nino~

The Blessed Santo Nino came to the Philippines from the Spaniards who brought His Image to the Philippines by order of the King of Spain, Philipp II. Philip II was a devotee of the Child Jesus of Prague, and he facilitated devotion in the new world. To Christianize the new territories.

And that is why The Santo Nino is connected to Spain and from Spain to The Child Jesus of Prague.

Do not be scared of him, as he is nothing. He is a defeated worm, disgraced and defeated.

Lucifer's role and goal in life is to plant seeds of doubt in our lives, to our own faith of the Absolute Love of Our Father In Heaven, which is illustrated so beautifully in sending his own begotten Son, Jesus Christ.

Man lost favor with God in Eden, however, the Love of The Father was rectified with man with the crucifixion of Christ.

'te, there is no need to fear or be scared of Lucifer because he has been defeated. Once by Michael the Archangel who thrust him to the very pits of Sheol, and again by the Crucifixion of Christ, which conquered Sin and Death. And rectified man with God the Father.

Bible Study / Re: The Fall of Lucifer
February 07, 2009, 11:04:31 AM
For us to analyze the situation, we must study the history of what is written in scripture, the entire entity from the creation to his demise. A better understanding of this will give one a better idea of who we are fighting and battling in our daily lives.

When the Angels were created by the hand of God, they were given the beautific vision, meaning each and everyone of them saw the face of God. And had complete communion with the Lord.

The reason for Lucifer's rebellion in Heaven and ultimately, his bold claims was due in part because he was crowned and adorned by the Lord. He was the favorite, the most favored by The Most High. First of all, Lucifer was a created being. He was created by God Himself. Colossians 1:16 states, “For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created by Him and for Him.” We know from scripture that Lucifer had dominion and authority. This authority was given to Lucifer by God.

However, in his own pride, and in the authority that God Almighty gave him, Lucifer craved and envied the position of the Most High.

In his own thoughts he declared his  5 'I WILLS':

How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

13For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

14I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

~Isaiah 14: 12-14

And with just a single thought, he was cast down by the Anger of The Lord:

Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

16They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;

17That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?

18All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house.

19But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet.

20Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned.

21Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers; that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.

22For I will rise up against them, saith the LORD of hosts, and cut off from Babylon the name, and remnant, and son, and nephew, saith the LORD.

~Isaiah 14: 15-22

With a mere thought, Lucifer, who was considered second only to God himself, was stripped of his authority, and lost favor with God.

However, I've come into agreement with theologians about this aspect, but one thing that we are left questioning and unanswered is on basis of "WHY". Why did Lucifer choose to fight against the Most High after his fall. What made him want to rebel against God? And why did 1/3rd of all the Angels in Heaven side with Lucifer to fight against their own creator.

It is amazing and intriguing to think that these Angels actually went to war in legions for the purpose of deposing the Most High and extinquishing his authority for that of Lucifer's.

Foolish act on their part.

Theologians agree that the judgement on Lucifer and the fallen angels by the Lord God was to set an example of the absolute authority and power of the LORD.

God, indeed, is a forgiving God, yet also a just and righteous One. It implies and reiterates the impurity of Lucifer, and that it was in his own heart that led him to the path towards perdition. And eventual excommunication with the Most High.

In the end, it is Lucifer's own pride, his greatest weakness, that has forever pitched him against his own Father in Heaven. An eternal hatred towards the Almighty Father. The very one who molded and created him from nothingness. And showered him with celestial authority, favor and complete ethereal bliss.

Lucifer's total rejection of his own Father's Love and refusal to humble himself is mandated by his own Self Adoration. His own Hubris.

Bible Study / The Fall of Lucifer
February 07, 2009, 05:01:41 AM
Lucifer’s fall is described in two key Old Testament chaptersâ€"Ezekiel 28 and Isaiah 14. Let’s briefly look at both of these.

It would seem from the context of Ezekiel 28 that the first ten verses of this chapter are dealing with a human leader. Then, starting in verse 11 and on through verse 19, Lucifer is the focus of discussion.

What is the rationale for the conclusion that these latter verses refer to the fall of Lucifer? Whereas the first ten verses in this chapter speak about the ruler of Tyre (who was condemned for claiming to be a god though he was just a man), the discussion moves to the king of Tyre starting in verse 11. Many scholars believe that though there was a human “ruler” of Tyre, the real “king” of Tyre was Satan, for it was he who was ultimately at work in this anti-God city and it was he who worked through the human ruler of the city.

Some have suggested that these verses may actually be dealing with a human king of Tyre who was empowered by Satan. Perhaps the historic king of Tyre was a tool of Satan, possibly even indwelt by him. In describing this king, Ezekiel also gives us glimpses of the superhuman creature, Satan, who was using, if not indwelling, him.

Now, there are things that are true of this “king” thatâ€"at least ultimatelyâ€"cannot be said to be true of human beings. For example, the king is portrayed as having a different nature from man (he is a cherub, verse 14); he had a different position from man (he was blameless and sinless, verse 15); he was in a different realm from man (the holy mount of God, verses 13,14); he received a different judgment from man (he was cast out of the mountain of God and thrown to the earth, verse 16); and the superlatives used to describe him don’t seem to fit that of a normal human being (“full of wisdom,” “perfect in beauty,” and having “the seal of perfection,” verse 12 NASB).

Our text tells us that this king was a created being and left the creative hand of God in a perfect state (Ezekiel 28:12,15). And he remained perfect in his ways until iniquity was found in him (verse 15b). What was this iniquity? We read in verse 17, “Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor.” Lucifer apparently became so impressed with his own beauty, intelligence, power, and position that he began to desire for himself the honor and glory that belonged to God alone. The sin that corrupted Lucifer was self-generated pride.

Apparently, this represents the actual beginning of sin in the universeâ€"preceding the fall of the human Adam by an indeterminate time. Sin originated in the free will of Lucifer in whichâ€"with full understanding of the issues involvedâ€"he chose to rebel against the Creator.

This mighty angelic being was rightfully judged by God: “I threw you to the earth” (Ezekiel 28:18). This doesn’t mean that Satan had no further access to heaven, for other Scripture verses clearly indicate that Satan maintained this access even after his fall (Job 1:6-12; Zechariah 3:1,2). However, Ezekiel 28:18 indicates that Satan was absolutely and completely cast out of God’s heavenly government and his place of authority (Luke 10:18).

Isaiah 14:12-17 is another Old Testament passage that may refer to the fall of Lucifer. We must be frank in admitting that some Bible scholars see no reference whatsoever to Lucifer in this passage. It is argued that the being mentioned in this verse is referred to as a man (Isaiah 14:16); is compared with other kings on the earth (verse 18); and the words, “How you have fallen from heaven” (verse 12), is alleged to refer to a fall from great political heights.

There are other scholars who interpret this passage as referring only to the fall of Lucifer, with no reference whatsoever to a human king. The argument here is that the description of this being is beyond humanness and hence could not refer to a mere mortal man.

There is a third view that I think is preferable to the two views above. This view sees Isaiah 14:12-17 as having a dual reference. It may be that verses 4 through 11 deal with an actual king of Babylon. Then, in verses 12 through 17, we find a dual reference that includes not just the king of Babylon but a typological description of Lucifer as well.

If this passage contains a reference to the fall of Lucifer, then the pattern of this passage would seem to fit that of the Ezekiel 28 referenceâ€"that is, first a human leader is described, and then dual reference is made to a human leader and Satan.

It is significant that the language used to describe this being fits other passages in the Bible that speak about Satan. For example, the five “I wills” in Isaiah 14 indicate an element of pride, which was also evidenced in Ezekiel 28:17 (cf. 1 Timothy 3:6 which makes reference to Satan’s conceit).

As a result of this heinous sin against God, Lucifer was banished from living in heaven (Isaiah 14:12). He became corrupt, and his name changed from Lucifer (“morning star”) to Satan (“adversary”). His power became completely perverted (Isaiah 14:12,16,17). And his destiny, following the second coming of Christ, is to be bound in a pit during the 1000-year millennial kingdom over which Christ will rule (Revelation 20:3), and eventually will be thrown into the lake of fire (Matthew 25:41).

The Bane of Lucifer.
Michael The Great Archangel.
#41160
Bible Study / Who Is St. Michael the MIGHTY Archangel?
February 07, 2009, 04:45:11 AM
St. Michael The Archangel. Prince of The Heavenly Hosts.
In Hebrew, "WHO IS LIKE GOD?"

Michael casting Lucifer to the pits of Sheol. After losing favor with The MOST HIGH.

The Power of God. Michael battling the disgraced Lucifer.

Reference in Scripture:

There are multiple instances that St. Michael was mentioned in Sacred Scripture:

Daniel 10:13 sqq., Gabriel says to Daniel, when he asks God to permit the Jews to return to Jerusalem: "The Angel [D.V. prince] of the kingdom of the Persians resisted me . . . and, behold Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me . . . and none is my helper in all these things, but Michael your prince."

Daniel 12, the Angel speaking of the end of the world and the Antichrist says: "At that time shall Michael rise up, the great prince, who standeth for the children of thy people."

In the Catholic Epistle of St. Jude: "When Michael the Archangel, disputing with the devil, contended about the body of Moses", etc. St. Jude alludes to an ancient Jewish tradition of a dispute between Michael and Satan over the body of Moses, an account of which is also found in the apocryphal book on the assumption of Moses (Origen, De Principiis III.2.2). St. Michael concealed the tomb of Moses; Satan, however, by disclosing it, tried to seduce the Jewish people to the sin of hero-worship. St. Michael also guards the body of Eve, according to the "Revelation of Moses" ("Apocryphal Gospels", etc., ed. A. Walker, Edinburgh, p. 647).

Apocalypse 12:7, "And there was a great battle in heaven, Michael and his angels fought with the dragon." St. John speaks of the great conflict at the end of time, which reflects also the battle in heaven at the beginning of time. According to the Fathers there is often question of St. Michael in Scripture where his name is not mentioned. They say he was the cherub who stood at the gate of paradise, "to keep the way of the tree of life" (Genesis 3:24), the angel through whom God published the Decalogue to his chosen people, the angel who stood in the way against Balaam (Numbers 22:22 sqq.), the angel who routed the army of Sennacherib (2 Kings 19:35).

"At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered. Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever." - Daniel 12:1-3.

It is also mentioned in Revelation 12:7: "And there was a great battle in heaven, Michael and his angels fought with the dragon."

Way Nada,

That is all but heresay. I am active in church as a Eucharistic Minister on Sundays and at times a Minister of the Word, if called by my priest to volunteer. Now I may not be so well versed in the prerogatives of the Church, but I do know, from strong friendships and activity in my local church, church in college and back home in NJ, that the donations collected from mass are divided equally. A portion is set aside for charitable organizations headed by the Church (and the list of these are expansive/numerous), some are set for maintenance of the church (ergo, cost of electricity, electric fans, water, cleaning etc), and some are sent to the Vatican for the training of priests, nuns, monks, for the maintenance of the thousands upon thousands of Catholic Seminaries,  Roman Catholic Institutions, Orphanages, Colleges, Private Schools, Health Care of priests and other individuals of the Cloth.

Defilement of the Host of Christ, religious ornaments fortwith antagonistic to the teachings to THE CHURCH (per se stealing of statues, defilment etc) are grounds for Total Anathema/ Excommunication.

Such actions you mentioned are propagated by vagrants, satanists etc. Not by the Church nor by those who are active members to Christ's Established Church on Earth. THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, founded on basis of PETER (THE ROCK/PETROS)

Thank You :)

President Obama is commendable for his Health Care projects as well as the building projects, which are Rooseveltian in essence.

However, his administration would continue to raise taxes on the small businesses and the large corporations, which, incidentally, make up the majority of America's economic machine. By raising taxes on large companies, this won't stimulate the economy, but only facilitate corporations going abroad.

$1.2 TRILLION is too much. Absolutely too much. And I only wonder how much of that will go to pork barreling.

I am against his Welfare-state policies.

from what i heard, obama's stimulus package is about $800 billion, not $1.2 trillion as stated above.

a stimulus package is just that, stimulus package. from there on, we really don't know how the market would react.

america is a consumer driven economy. meaning, its the consumers that shape the market. working on this premise, the best that obama could do is to cut on taxes. in doing so, he is increasing the income of the american people, which would also result to increase in disposable income and spending of the americans.

further, corporations, big and small alike, would be encourage to finance more research and development projects because they have more money. in doing that, obama would also be encouraging the development of its wide range of intellectual properties, from product development to service enhancements.

kapuy na suwat, di man pud uroy maminaw nas barack naho. LOL

Tito,

The stimulus package is priced at 1.2 Trillion Dollars. This is including the interests.

I supported some aspects of Obama's campaign, but his plan to give out 1.2 TRILLION US DOLLARS for building projects, is outrageous. He's following a failed policy enacted by FDR some 6 decades prior.

Okay, the nation is in debt, and in economic paralysis. Why is he going to initiate the spending of 1.2 TRILLION? That is equivalent to 1/10th of our national debt.

As we speak, government is printing massive amounts of US dollars in paper. The effects of this will be a decreased dollar power.

I support his health care program, but this budget proposal is outrageous.

The United States must retain and uphold its FREE MARKET policy.

Isn't it amazing?

That even today, in the 21st century, there are Spaniards that are nostalgic when Philippines was part of Spain?

My question lang--more so my interest in the psychology of their nostalgia.

It intrigues me that the Spaniards today could care less about its former colonies in the Americas, but hold such a strong endearing nostalgia for Las Islas Filipinas?

Then it occurred to me from a conversation with a friend that the very reason Spain went abroad was to find the "Spice Islands". The Spanish discovery of North and Southern American was purely coincidental/accidental. Their goal was not The Americas, but for the Malay Archipelago and Cathay. For the rich ports of Asia.

The Loss of the Philippines in 1898 ended Spain's Empire.
The Philippines was the very reason for her Global Expansion.

Even with their Hispanization of the Philippines and their mandates to turn the Philippines into a copy of Spain, still, they could not prevent revolution. Could not prevent the dissent of the Filipinos.

Over 100 years after Spain lost the Philippines, she still longs Her.

As a student of Medicine, studies and hospital-clinical experience only strengthens one's own faith. There are so many instances of the Divine's presence in the body. That cannot be explained scientifically.

An example was this past monday. I was in the local clinic doing required weekly rounds--and observed of Cardiac Angioplasty--and application of drugs to prevent re-stenosis of angioplasty.

Upon finishing observation, I was lectured by the Head Surgeon on an aspect of smooth muscle. Regulation of cardiac output abides by the Myogenic theory. And what is interesting about this concept is that:
Myogenic response is inherent to vascular smooth muscle and can occur in the absence of neural or hormonal influences. Smooth muscles perform their duties even in the absence of stretch receptors, or neuronal/hormonal activity.

I asked the surgeon, what is the cause or what is the reason for this. He replied, "Local Tissue autoregulation."

I then asked him, "how did this develop? was this pre-disposed? developed in post-uterine, intrauterine or in the embryogenesis phase?"

Dr. Jensen then replied, "GOD."

We were set to debate on the issue of Tax Increases for Social Welfare programs ergo, more into logistics of the said processes.

In the beginning of the debate, I was tantalized by her face and her bright red hair. When she argued her position, my eyes tracked her lip movement, her Irish red eyebrows. It took me at least 25 some minutes to re-establish some semblance of control of the floor, lol.

In the end of the debate she ended her defense with a wink.

That sent me reeling.

Noting against this at all. This is another manifest of Globalization, and the humanistic intrinsic need to search for greener pastures.

Europeans immigrated abroad in the 19th century and early 20th century to the United States as well as to Canada--for exactly the same reasons: Greener Pastures.

If anything, the fact that foreign men are preferring to marry Filipina women speaks wonders for the Filipina. And it honors the generalization of her being:

b) Loyal
c) Family-oriented
d) Religious
e) Patient
f) Intelligent
