Workplace & Productivity / IT -> Learn SAP
March 20, 2010, 10:38:09 AM

It's guaranted and the demand is high from the outsourcing industry, to the manufacturing industry and consulting firms worldwide.
+------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+

FROM START-UP SOFTWARE VENDOR TO GLOBAL MARKET LEADER

Over the course of three decades, SAP has evolved from a small, regional enterprise into a world-class international company. Today, SAP is the global market leader in collaborative, inter-enterprise business solutions. The company now employs more than 39,300 people, whose commitment and innovative spirit pace our future success.

The 1970s: A Real-Time Vision

In 1972, five former IBM employees â€" Dietmar Hopp, Hans-Werner Hector, Hasso Plattner, Klaus Tschira, and Claus Wellenreuther â€" launch a company called Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing in Mannheim, Germany. Their vision: to develop standard application software for real-time business processing. One year later, the first financial accounting software is complete, forming the basis for the continuous development of other software components in what later came to be known as the “R/1 system.” “R” stands for real-time data processing. By the end of the decade, intensive examination of SAP’s IBM database and dialog control system leads to the birth of SAP R/2.

The 1980s: Rapid Growth

SAP moves into the company’s first building on Max-Planck-Strasse in an industrial park in Walldorf, near Heidelberg. Our software development area and its 50 terminals are all now under one roof. Fifty of the 100 largest German industrial firms are already SAP customers. The SAP R/2 system attains the high level of stability of the previous generation of programs. Keeping in mind its multinational customers, SAP designs SAP R/2 to handle different languages and currencies. With this and other innovations in SAP R/2, SAP sees rapid growth.By the middle of the decade, SAP founds its first sales organization outside Germany, in Austria. The company makes its first appearance at the CeBIT computer fair in Hanover, Germany. Revenues reach DM 100 million (around $52 million), earlier than expected. In August 1988, SAP GmbH becomes SAP AG. Starting on November 4, 1.2 million shares are listed on the Frankfurt and Stuttgart stock exchanges. Germany’s renowned business journal, manager magazine, names SAP its Company of the Year â€" a distinction we would receive twice more in the next few years. With the founding of subsidiaries in Denmark, Sweden, Italy, and the United States, SAP’s international expansion takes a leap forward.

The 1990s: A New Approach to Software and Solutions

SAP R/3 is unleashed on the market. The client-server concept, uniform appearance of graphical interfaces, consistent use of relational databases, and the ability to run on computers from different vendors meets with overwhelming approval. With SAP R/3, SAP ushers in a new generation of enterprise software â€" from mainframe computing to the three-tier architecture of database, application, and user interface. To this day, the client-server architecture is the standard in business software. A growing number of subsidiaries are managed out of Walldorf. The new Sales and Development Center in Walldorf officially opens it doors. It symbolizes the global success of the company. In our twentieth year, our business outside Germany exceeds 50 percent of total sales for the first time.By 1996, the company has earned 1,089 new SAP R/3 customers. At the end of the year, SAP R/3 has been installed in more than 9,000 systems worldwide.SAP celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary in 1997 and now employs approximately 12,900 people. We continue to strengthen our industry focus and build more and more industry-specific solutions. Henning Kagermann becomes Co-Chairman and CEO of SAP AG with Hasso Plattner. On August 3, 1998, the letters S-A-P appear for the first time on the Big Board at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), the largest stock exchange in the world. As the decade draws to a close, Hasso Plattner, Co-Founder, Co-Chairman, and CEO announces the mySAP.com strategy, heralding the beginning of a new direction for the company and our product portfolio. mySAP.com links e-commerce solutions to existing ERP applications, using state-of-the-art Web technology.

The 2000s: Innovation for the New Millennium

With the Internet, the user becomes the focus of software applications. SAP develops SAP Workplace and paves the way for the idea of an enterprise portal and role-specific access to information.Currently, more than 12 million users work each day with SAP solutions. There are now 121,000 installations worldwide, more than 1,500 SAP partners, over 25 industry-specific business solutions, and more than 41,200 customers in 120 countries. SAP is the world’s third-largest independent software vendor.

Magbinugoy na pud ...

One evening a man was at home watching TV and eating peanuts. He'd toss them in the air, and then catch them in his mouth In the middle of catching one, his wife asked him a question and as he turned to answer her, a peanut fell in his ear.

He tried and tried to dig it out but succeeded in only pushing it in deeper. He called his wife for assistance, and after hours of trying they became worried and decided to go to the hospital.

As they were ready to go out the door, their daughter came home with her date. After being informed of the problem, their daughter's date said he could get the peanut out.. The young man told the father to sit down, then proceeded to shove two fingers up the father's nose and told him to blow hard.

When the father blew, the peanut flew out of his ear. The mother and daughter jumped and yelled for joy. The young man Insisted that it was nothing. Once he was gone, the mother turned to the father and said, 'That's so Wonderful! Isn't he smart?

Do you think he's going to be a doctor when he grows older?'

The father replied, 'From the smell of his fingers, he's going to be our son-in-law.'

Hi Bon,

All the supporting documents (support, invitation, etc) related to your visa application are yours. The embassy will not accept advance copy of these documents.  They are only needed if they require you to present an evidence during the actual interview.  I suggest you have to book your interview appointment as soon as you think you are ready.

Regards,

American band Journey frontman Arnel Pineda will sing the Phil. national anthem with an open arms.   ;)

+-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+

Source: www.dailyworldbuzz.com

Past reports saying Charice will be singing the Philippine National Anthem for the Pacquiao vs Clottey fight this Sunday were proven untrue as the Journey lead vocalist, Arnel Pineda, will be taking the duty of singing the Philippine National Anthem, “Lupang Hinirang” in the upcoming Manny Pacquiao vs. Joshua Clottey fight. Pineda is a Filipino and was personally invited by the king of the ring, Manny Pacquiao to sing for the Philippines in his next fight.

Arnel Pineda also said he will be arriving at Dallas on Thursday and he is so delightful that finally he can sing for the Pacquiao vs Clottey fight. The famous singer also revealed it was the Manny Pacquiao’s third attempt to invite him, that is why he’s very happy it will finally push through.

The much awaited Manny Pacquiao vs Joshua Clottey fight will be held this Saturday (March 13) â€" March 14 in Manila at the Cowboys Stadium in Texas.

You can watch Pacquiao vs Clottey fight Livestream Online on Sunday at selected channels over the internet. If you do not want to watch Pacquiao vs Clottey online free livestream, and you are a Filipino fan, then watch Pacquiao vs Clottey Livestream at the UP Theater, commercial-free straight from the US.

Upon arrival in Texas, General Pacquiao and his chief adviser, lovely wife Jinkee (Top Rank Photo/Chris Farina)

Top Rank Photo (Chris Farina) Looks like Pacman the person and Pacman the dog...may go...all the way!

GRAPEVINEâ€"That's actually where the world record breaking Manny Pacquiao Entourage, which makes the old Muhammad Ali carnival troupe look like a ragtag and smallish assembly, has landed.

Megamanny, gorgeous wife Jinkee, Pacman the dog and 139 of Manny's closest (?) friends and associates all came to Texas for his Saturday night bout against Joshua Clottey at Cowboys Stadium over in Arlington (said to be a 20 minute ride away).

After the charter flight, organized by the efficient Canadian Michael Koncz and his various helpers, Team Pacquiao was suitably ensconced in the lavish Gaylord Texan Hotel , which has a huge atrium and is a microcosm of the state complete with a rendering of The Alamo.

Gaylord is the official hotel of Jerry Jones' storied NFL franchise which is commonly referred to as “America's Team.” Guess you could properly call the Pacman troops “Philippines' Team.”

I don't think the Philadelphia Eagles game traveling party runs as deep as Pacman's crew does. Btw, don't think Uncle Bob Arum pays the freight, not to mention the room service and bar tabs, for all these people. The entire bill is eventually paid by Pacquiao.

Suffice to say Pacman shirts and Pinoy flags are seen all over the Gaylord. The crowd is mixed in Manny's group, you basically have two kinds of people, Filipinos and Fil-Ams meaning Filipino-Americans.

Top Rank Photo (Chris Farina) Looks like Pacman the person and Pacman the dog...may go...all the way!

I'm not sure if wife Jinkee is Manny's best friend or if little canine Pacman is but, just to be on the safe side, he brought them both to this, his last bout before the crucial May 10 Congressional election in Sarangani province.

Pacquiao is 0-1 in runs for elective office in his homeland and his foe this time is billionaire Roy Chiongbian who comes from a politically connected family.

I bumped into one of Pacman's 140 near my room. Now I don't want Floyd Mayweather, who claims to own and operate something a recording label/music management firm tastefully called Philthy Rich, but Pacman brought his vocal coach, Helen Buscema, along.

Upon arrival in Texas, General Pacquiao and his chief adviser, lovely wife Jinkee (Top Rank Photo/Chris Farina)

Buscema hooked up with Manny at Christ The King Church, not far from Freddie Roach;s Wild Card Gym, where she is the church cantor.

Can Manny really sing, I asked, and if he can't, who would have the nerve to tell him?

In two Jimmy Kimmel appearances, Manny has crooned two love songs.

“Manny has singing talent,” Buscema said. “He really does. My frustration is getting his time and attention for lessons. I am lucky to get bits of him, 10 minutes here and 10 minutes there because he has so many other demands on his time.”

Maybe Manny and Floyd can add a karaoke competition to that one on one basketball game between them that people keep suggesting.

Let's see who can deliver “My Way” in a more pleasing way, I say.

Have I lost my musical mind, I ask myself.

I just looked back at my now proper dateline.

The song must be the old Motown classic, “I Heard It Through The Grapevine.”

Hindi lang e question but more of a doubt. It's a 50-50 chance.  Lalo na single ka at medyo masasabing hindi pa stable in terms of work tenure.  Kaya a pure visit reason siguro ang ma e aadvise ko sayo. OR the sure thing is let your friend sponsor a fianc**  visa  ba ?  Hehe

So sir, d kaya nila e question ung reason ng invitation or sponsorship para sa akin since na meet ko lng ang mag sponsor sa akin thru internet (never ko na mkeet in person pa). Ano kaya ang maganda na approach ko sa ganitong case for my application?

Thanks,

Sige po. Magandang gabi.

Isa sa mga typical question is the purpose of travel and the person you are living with while in the US.  Sa tingin ko hindi sila maghihingi sa invitation letter UNLESS this is a business trip (i.e. convention, expo, etc).  Pero e ready mo pa rin eto baka hihingi-in sa yo.  Sabihin mo lang na a friend invited you to visit the US.  You should know the personal details of your friend, his exact address and his work and where he is connected. US inland security is very strict nowadays and they are particular on this.

Medyo gamble pag esasabi mo na na meet mo sya through internet.  It's a 50-50 chance.  Pag nagtatanong in details, sasabihin mo na you want to meet the person AND you are planning to stay there for a couple of weeks ONLY BECAUSE OF YOUR WORK AND FAMILY HERE.

Quote from: bon5candelon on March 09, 2010, 11:03:39 PM
Thanks for the heartwarming advice Sir. Honestly, super na eencourage ako sa mga words of wisdom mo. Same thing with other peeps na nag rereply sa mga queries ko and Im looking forward to compensate it eventually. By the way, d nila kaya ako ma question if ung Letter of Invitation is coming from a friend met thru internet lng? (we never meet pa in person). But willing to sponsor me the necessary expenses.

One more thing, though dont have relatives from US tlga kaya Im dreaming na makapunta jan, live and work. Yes, i will keep praying na magiging successful ung application ko. Ill update u also Sir at to ask ur guidance while nagpaprocess ako. Anyway, medyo it takes two months pa coz need ko pa to prepare more info and the necessary docs para organize ang application ko.

At ano po ang mga tips nyo Sir regarding sa mag sponsor sa akin na na meet ko lng thru net recently. Do u think walang question sa sa intention ko?

Thanks

Yes, you should prepare all the supporting documents just incase they ask this from you.  However, from all applicants that I have coached with different cases, bihira lang naghihingi ng dokumento.  Medyo nakaka dismaya kasi dala dala mo lahat ng mga dokumento pero ni isa hindi hinihingi.  Minsan pag family applicant, hinahanapan ng bank account.

Quote from: bon5candelon on March 09, 2010, 10:33:12 PM
So un nlng ang dapat ko na e-secure?the Invitation Letter from a friend?even d pa kmi nagkita personally?(thru internet lng?) So if sponsor nya lahat ng expenses, pwede na ba akong di na mag secure ng funding sa Bank Account ko?

Hi Dave,

Good day to you.

Hiring an agency will help you in preparing for the US visa application process. They will assist you particularly in preparing and filling-up the forms up to coaching for the interview process.  They will teach you everything.  However, this is not a guarantee that you can get a visa. In my case, I was tempted to hire an agency upon advise of my friends (but unfortunately they were denied) para sure daw ang mga dokumento.  I was even advised to make a trip abroad.  However, I said if they hired a consultant and paid Ps30K and still they failed, then I better learn the hard way and take my chance.

Just like you, I've been reading blogs all over the net.  I had read those including expert advises from immigration lawyers online. After reading all the steps and guides especially from the US embassy website, I decided to do it by myself.  It's a 3 to 5 five months preparation evaluating possible scenarios for my case.  I never made a single travel abroad once. I kept telling to myself, that if the officer will give me a chance to be interviewed, that's it - I can do this.  Sa awa ng Dyos, mga 20 questions na-ibato sa akin.

Heard some stories also of this unemployed person wanting to visit his relatives and he was granted a visa. So, even if you have a good job and long tenure and a notable bank account, still that is not a guarantee.  It's something that begins with a good preparation, proper documentations and a prayer, I think all is possible.

Mind you, pa swertihan lang yan these days.  Sa sinasabi ko dito before, parang nasa entrada ng applikante sa cubicle malaking tulong na yun.  Yung facial expression mo parang nababasa nila.  Yung time ko, yung officer medyo magaan ang dating and he looked me straight to the eye for a few seconds. From there, I told myself I can handle this.

Sometimes having a social or civic organization will help.  In DS 157, they will check for it.

Yes, yung pagiging single in status really creates a lot of doubt to them. Five or six applicants from this forum were denied.  I'm not discouraging you but you still have a chance.  E daan mo nalang sa dasal at pagtitiwala sa sarili na kaya mo yan.

Good luck,

Bedo

I see. coz I thought it would be ideal to seek for an agency that can help you on the right thing to do, right documents to prepare and to shed you lights during the period of your application (lalo na sa first timers). So better now to do it by myself?
One more thing sir, I ask the consultant on the internet (actually US Visa Consulant), after I reply to the US Visa Questionaire Form,  he assessed me stating this way:My opinion is you would have a low chance of approval (20%) for the following reasons:

·       Short duration of current employment

·       Low salary

·       Low savings

·       Single

·       Lack of international travel experience

I would not recommend you use my service to apply for the tourist visa.

With these, should i still pursue my application? Actually me employment period started October 2006-December 2008 Branch Accountant/Supervisor after that resigned. Then, from June 2009-present (re-hired) Operation Officer/Supervisor in the same company. in short, total of 3 years experience in the same company. My friend will finance the tickets, accomodation, food, etc. Should he require to furnish an invitation address to the consul? Likewise, should he requires to send me also the invitation address to me? I have made one travel only to Singapore last January 2009 to March 2009.

Can u shed me some more lights. Thanks.

Ug unsa ka inspirado si Manny karong weekend, murag eng-ana pud ka sigurado ang iyang pagka daog.   ;)

Style makes fight and clottey's style is suitable for Manny's fighting style. Clottey is a forward fighter and he doesn't seem to back pedal as seen in his previous fights. Manny had difficulty fighting backtracking opponents (marquez, sanchez, Solis, etc). BUT Manny should be extra careful.  Joshua Clottey is strong and big.  If Manny can hurt Clottey in the early rounds, I think Manny can pull a KO win inside 9 rounds.

Good luck Manny.

Hi Dave,

Yes, everybody has a chance to apply for a tourist visa except that the burden of proof is on your side to show that you are willing to come back to the phils. after the visit/trip.

Your current job could be your main reason of going back to the phils.  You must secure a job certification (with tenure and salary) and show this to the officer if needed.   Sometimes, not a single document is asked during the interview.  Only when needed, you have to give to the officer the necessary supporting documents.

Good luck,

hi,

Im not a Boholano but maybe u can help me. Im planning to apply for a visit visa this coming April 2010. Maybe some tips u can give.
These are the things that I like to know:

a) I meet a friend thru internet and he is willing to sponsor my trip, accomodations, etc.
b) 26, still single, male, working as a Supervisor in a bank somewhere in Makati City
c) I dont have much asset and impressive bank accounts to show

With these, do you think I have a chance that my application will be approved? What are the things that I should do to ensure i can get Visa.
If ever, this is my mobile number +639228011511.
Thanks

Pacific under tsunami threat after massive 8.8 quake strikes Chile

February 27, 2010 9:48 a.m. EST

A major bridge connecting northern and southern Chile was damaged in Saturday's earthquake.

STORY HIGHLIGHTS

NEW: Hawaii plans evacuations; U.S. West Coast, Alaska under tsunami watch
NEW: Quake is 1,000 times stronger than the one in Haiti
NEW: Dozens of aftershocks, one of magnitude 6.9, shake Chile
78 believed killed; death toll expected to rise

(CNN) -- A massive magnitude 8.8 earthquake rocked Chile early Saturday, killing at least 78 people and triggering tsunami warnings for the entire Pacific basin. Chilean President Michelle Bachelet said she expected the death toll to rise.  "We are taking all the necessary measures at this time," she told reporters.

Officials did not give any information on the number of those injured. The full extent of the damage was not yet known, although there were reports of collapsed buildings and hundreds of people in the streets. The capital of Santiago lost electricity and basic services including water and telephones. Bachelet said regional hospitals had suffered damage; some were evacuated. A major bridge connecting northern and southern Chile was rendered inoperable, and the Santiago airport was shut down for at least the next 24 hours.

Chilean television showed buildings in tatters in Concepcion, with whole sides torn off. At least two buildings there were engulfed in flames, and roads in the city were broken up, video showed.

Sports and Fitness / Boxing -> Pinoy vs. Latino fury
February 15, 2010, 02:14:01 PM
Congratulations to paisano Nonito Donaire for knocking-out Manual Vargas of Mexico.

Sad our boy from Talibon (Ciso "Kid Terrible" Morales) lost to veteran Fernando Montiel of Mexico yesterday in Las Vegas.

http://www.fightnewsextra.com/cc/2010stories/02-pinoypowerlatinfury.htm

Ciso desist

In the 12-round co-main, Fernando “Cochulito” Montiel, of Los Mochis, Mexico, showed the Filipino-favoring fans that he still has it, by folding his formerly-undefeated Pinoy foe to the floor with a ripping body shot.

Though undefeated, Ciso “Kid Terrible” Morales was largely untested before getting his shot at the pound-for-pound powerhouse Montiel, his minor Oriental belts somehow tiptoeing his name into contention.

Montiel, however, sent Morales back into the minor leagues for a season or two. Countering off his opponent’s jab, Montiel backed Morales against the ropes, then hurled a hook downstairs, a right up top, and, for a grand finale, finished the Filipino with a solar plexus hook that dropped Morales to the floor for the ten-count, and then some.

Clutching his battered bread basket, Morales was counted out by referee Robert Byrd at 2:06.

“I knew I had to get inside of his long jab,” said Montiel. “When I did that, I hit him with the left, and a right just before that. I didn’t think he was going to get up.”

Montiel, now 40-2-2, 30 KOs, is looking for bigger paydays at bantamweight, possibly against Donaire or in unifying two of the four major belts against WBC champ Hozumi Hasagawa.

Suffering his first loss, Morales drops to 14-1, 8 KOs.
