Network-attached storage device
« on: February 15, 2010, 12:15:15 PM »
Eager to cater to the storage needs of small and medium businesses, Synology UK has been developing a network-attached storage device that can be set up and configured in only a few minutes. Now complete, the DiskStation DS710+ NAS does not require end-users to know extensive technical knowledge in order to install it and, as such, will serve well not only business environments but also storage enthusiasts.

As one of the few Synology DiskStations powered by an Intel processor, the DS710+ consumes only 31W of power. It can pack up to a significant 14TB of storage space, if purchasers choose to pair it with a DX510, an upcoming external drive unit. Also, DS710+ supports JBOD, RAID 0, 1,5 and 6, which means that it can reach read and write speeds of over 110MB/s and 100MB/s, respectively, when running within a Windows environment.

"As far as a small or medium business is concerned, the DS710+ ticks all the right boxes," exclaimed Victor Chiang, Sales and Marketing Director, Synology UK. "Smaller than the size of a shoe box, the DiskStation is powerful, secure and reliable enough to cope with the majority of a company's backup, IT and internet requirements at a low initial cost outlay and on-going running costs." - source: softpedia.com

yes but NAS is connected using rj45 or LAN connection direct to the router but will act as an external drive of all the computers connected to the network.

Kumpetensya ni sya sa mga well known brands for stackable NAS.  Currently, we are on the process of replacing old RAIDs due to some issues with windows.

Well, actually it's a design issue with our current RAID with one of our applications - windows.  And that the well known brand has no solution yet.

pero depende gihapon sa gamit...
