Please note that so far, there are about 2,627 Iraqis that have been resettled in the United States.

Please also read history. In 1975, after the fall of Saigon, within 8 months, the United States admitted an overwhelming 130,000 Vietnamese refugees to the United States.

Who said we are biased?

Its called initiative. The war is still going on. And refugees and aid to them cost money. The United States' coffers isn't infinite. We are having economic troubles as it is.

#39702
The United States isn't subject to loose door policies, there are proper and legal procedures one needs to take into consideration to gain entry into the United States.

As for Iraqi refugees, the United States is currently in a war against terrorism. Whose to say some of the refugees will not do damage to the United States or plot suicide attacks within our midst.

Strategic initiative on Washington's part.

Please let me reiterate, there are over 20 MILLION illegal immigrants in the United States; the US has enough trouble as it is providing assistance to them, let alone, those who would come here as refugees.

There is a large difference between 20,000 to 20,000,000.

Illegal migration is a natural as it follows the flow of 'supply and demand' in economics.

But over here in the United States, we have over 20+ Million illegal immigrants. Undocumented immigrants who are recieving governmental aid and take American Jobs.

Think about it, let us just say that each illegal immigrant is getting $500 a month from the US government, that equals to an unprecedented $ 10 BILLION every month. That totals to about $120 BILLION every year.

$120 BILLION worth of Tax Payer Money is being spent by government to provide aid to illegal immigrants (this is not including medical care provisions, housing, food, child care, schools etc etc)

$120 BILLION is around 1/4th the Philippine's Gross National Product.

The United States needs to curve illegal immigration.
#39705
Please note that no other government in the world is as hospitable as the United States concerning illegal immigrants.

I have been abroad to The Netherlands (Amsterdam) and to Ukraine and know that there is no such thing as illegal immigrant aid over there, or in most nations.

Yet when American citizens go abroad, there are some governments abroad that will not even give aid to American citizens in need.

The United States provides BILLIONS of dollars in economic aid/relief towards other nations, yet where were the other nations when Katrina hit the United States in 2005? It angers me that the world always demands so much from the United States, yet whenever the United States is in need, little to none are sent to our shores. Quick to criticize the US, but also quick to ask for aid. :)

Yet at the same time, in 2004 when the Asian Tsunami hit Asia, the United States pledged billions of dollars for relief aid and sent the naval convoys to help rebuild and recover bodies.

Hypocrisy of some nations.
#39706
I speak as a tax-paying American and am annoyed that the United States is too hospitable towards illegal immigrants who come here through illegal means.

First of all, illegal immigrants that come here do not pay taxes, but the United States government provides economic aid to them, which, might I add, are provided for by hard-earned American tax payer money. Blood and sweat money.

Illegal immigrants are provided governmental medical care.

I am a staunch supporter of the American Middle Class. It is the middle class that has to shoulder most of the taxes this government instills, middle class that drives the 14.5 TRILLION dollar American Economy.

There are estimated over 20 million some undocumented ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS in the United States!

Many of those come from Mexico and Latin America.

Priscilla,

They wont give you trouble in the Philippines. I mean, you are an American Citizen, and you bring income to the local economy. Technically you are a tourist-resident. So you contribute to the local growth.

Any tourist to the Philippines has that effect. Which is, on an overall consensus, a positive effect on the local market/economy.

Additionally, you are a citizen of the United States of America.

A citizen of the world's Hyper Power.

Well I am a saint when it comes to this subject anyways.

I really dislike seeing persons cheating on their spouses and loved ones and then playing them along.

I will never forget the story of one Filipino ship captain and his sweetheart in the foreign port and I will never forget the wife came a visiting from the Filipines where the husbands ship was alongside in the states and the wife found the girlfreind Filipina's panty in her husbands closet.

Then the Filipina girlfreinf traveled to the second port and went after the captain in the galley with a big meat knife demanding money from him.

One year later the Captains wife dies from aides.

Then we are very alike, Ms. Priscilla.

I am and have always been a very conservative man. I take after my father, I guess.

There is no reason to cheat on your spouse or loved one. It is simple. If you want to cheat, divorce the individual and/or not even get married if you know you are going to cheat.

It is very simple. And defending adultery is in my opinion, abhorric.

It is a sin. And it is wrong.

PERIOD.
#39710
Aduy, you can still learn it, my friend.

I took 4 years in high school and 3 years of advanced Spanish in college as electives. It's not too bad. The Spanish language is very easy to learn, its conjugation, tenses (past, present, future) objectives and subjectives are quite simplistic, compared to say, English and or Russian (considering a different writing system-cyrillic)

If you are Filipino, learning Spanish should be quick. There are already spanish words, and tenses that have been amalgamated in Bisaya and Tagalog.

Per se, such terms:

1. Cada semana
2. limpio
3. quarto
4. numerical systems
5. tinidor
6. cuchillo (pronounced in the castilian dialect as coo chill yo)

etc etc etc,

Now Lorenzo contrary to adultery being sinfull it depends on the individuals states llaw on such subject.

Some states are non adulterating states. and some are.

Amazing but true.

Even in Philippines anullment can not happen on adultery basis.

The True Meaning of Lent
What is Lent? Why is it so widely practiced by “Christians” of this world? Is it because the Bible commands it? Did Christ or any of His apostles observe Lent? What about the first century Church? What does the Bible teach about Lent?

Let’s examine Lent, its practices and customs, its historic and religious origins, and its true meaning from the Bible’s perspective, not from the “traditions of men” (Mark 7:7-9).

+JLY

Lent is indeed biblical. And purely scriptural as well as traditional.

Lent was in practice since the days of the Early Church Fathers.

The practice stems back to the old christian church in Rome when Blessed Peter the Apostle (the 1st bishopric of Rome and 1st Pope) preached the word of God to the peoples of Rome.

It is also important to note that other early christian churches such as the Coptic Churches in Egypt and old orders of Orthodoxy maintain the practice of Lent.

Please note that these said churches, ALONG with the Holy Roman Catholic Church have been in EXISTENCE since the days of Our Lord. Established by the Apostles, the disciples of Christ OUR Lord.

Yours In Christ,
Bran Lorenzo

As much as the Chinese like to flex their muscles on the small Philippines, it cannot.

So it has to result in vocal harrassment. Because She knows that The United States and its ever-watching eyes has strategic interest in the stability of the Philippines. A stable Philippines is good for American strategic interests.

i watched not too long ago Bruce Lee's movie Fist of Fury. He got so mad after the Japanese called the Chinese "Sick Man of Asia". Of course, after some astonishing martial art combat, the Japanese ended up eating the piece of paper unto which the taunt was painted. It was a great show and analogy of Chinese muscle flexing.

After much ridicule from more powerful nations before, China, The Sleeping Giant, has awakened and tried to prove, it is no longer a Sick Man of Asia. Is this present action of some "patriotic"/idiotic Chinese in HK  and the Chinese government over the Spratlys the ala-Bruce-Lee form of revenge against those who once called them as sick nation? Maybe. So, flexing its muscle against its tiny neighbor like Philippines is the best way to stage its comeback. However they feel our slapping on their faces, it's only a tiny slap. No big deal. Their hardened faces are seasoned for that.

Now they may want to strike us with a hammer, but they can't. Because...

Still, i like to imagine Philippines is like Jerry Mouse chased by Tom Cat (Chinese) and just when Tom cornered the tiny but smart "devil", Tom couldn't make the blow because Bull Dog (USA) is there behind the mouse.

hahahaha! I love your analogy, Glacier.

Yes, the cat can't touch the mouse because the Big American Bull Dog is always around the corner. ;)

Biblical trivia:

1. What is the old name of the city of Jerusalem?

2. What was the burial ceremony done to the bodies of Jacob and Joseph in Egypt?

3. What was the name of the Roman soldier who pierced the side of Jesus with a spear?

4. Why is it that there are only four gospels?

5. Judas Iscariot... did he hanged himself or did he suffered another kind of death?

1. The old city of Jerusalem was once known as Salem during the times of the Prophet Abraham.

"And he passed over to Salem, a city of the Sichemites, which is in the land of Chanaan, after he returned from Mesopotamia of Syria: and he dwelt by the town:  And he bought that part of the field, in which he pitched his tents, of the children of Hemor, the father of Sichem for a hundred lambs. 20 And raising an altar there, he invoked upon it the most mighty God of Israel."
-Genesis 33: 17-20

2. The bodies of Jacob and Joseph, literally, their bones were carried with them when Egypt was released from the bondage of Egypt. See Exodus.

3. Scripture does not name the man, however, it is only said that it was a Roman soldier that pierced the side of Christ. Again, I think it is unnecessary to know that man's name. But please read John 19: 30-35:

" So the soldiers came, and broke the legs of the first man and of the other who was crucified with Him; 33 but coming to Jesus, when they saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs. 34 But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. 35 And he who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true; and he knows that he is telling the truth, so that you also may believe."

4. There are only 4 gospels (Mark, Luke, Matthew and John) because they were written within 80 years of Christ Our Lord's death.

5. There are two verses in Sacred Scripture that answer this question, one in Mathew Chapter 27 and Acts Chapter 1:

"Then when Judas, who had betrayed Him, saw that He had been condemned, he felt remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4saying, "I have sinned by betraying innocent blood." But they said, "What is that to us? See to that yourself!" 5And he threw the pieces of silver into the sanctuary and departed; and he went away and hanged himself."
-Matthew 27: 3-8

and

"Brethren, the Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit foretold by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus. 17"For he was counted among us, and received his portion in this ministry. Now this man acquired a field with the price of his wickedness; and falling headlong."
-Acts 1: 16-19

Bible Study / Jesus Christ The TRUE Vine
April 02, 2009, 08:57:49 AM
Jesus said: “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing."

It all stems back to political squabbling, Glacier.

This Tsao represents a group of Chinese who have and harbor similar feelings regarding the Philippines. They show disinterest and debauchery towards our numerous presence in their urban centers working as domestic helpers or hired hands or engineers or teachers etc. Yet at the same time, they take insult to the fact that the country of the The Philippines maintains a solid and staunch claim over the Kalayaan group and said parcels in the Spratley's.

The Chinese government and the Chinese people, if you analyze their history and their internal and external intrigue, will notice that the Chinese people implement a sense of xenophobia against those that are foreign to the Han Race (Chinese). It is a concept of filial piety that is characteristic of the Confucian Culture that is alive in the Chinese psyche. For thousands of years, the Chinese dynasties (Tang, Ming, Han, Qing, Song, Yuan etc) received tributes from its lesser neighbors, per se Siam (Thailand), Nguyen Dynasty (Vietnam), Khmer Empire (Cambodia), Koguryo Empire (Korea), Tokugawa Japan, Bali, Sri Vijaya (Malay) and even from Hindu Kingdoms of the past.

It is an intrinsic character of the Chinese people of superiority towards their lesser neighbors. The name of China bears witness and manifests this intrigue. In Mandarin, "China" is known as 'Zhong Guo" which literally means, "Land Under Heaven" or colloquially, "Middle Kingdom". The land between heaven and earth.

That aspect of their psyche lives on today. And the fact that the Philippines and the Filipino are so staunch in claiming territorial integrity despite the fact that thousands of Filipinos are working in China is almost like a slap to the face for some Chinese nationalists and die hard right wingers.

To better understand one's opponent, we must understand the way they think.

Remember that.

Canadian government allows Canadians to grow and cultivate marijana for medical purposes. As said in the following:

The Marijuana Medical Access Regulations require all medical marijuana users to obtain their perscription from a limited number of sources:

     (1) Grown by that person.
     (2) Produced by a designated individual for that person, or
     (3) a licensed dealer.

Source: http://www.medicalmarihuana.ca/

The problem here is the level of gaps that can arise. An individual who grows medical marijuana can easily sell them, as they are known to. Dispensing the paraphernalia towards American markets, where there is a high demand due to Federal prohibition.

#39731
Ive read into this; the cultivation of cannabis, is considered illegal in Canada, but is legal for medical purposes. Possession of Marijuana can be liable for persecution, depending on the status of the Province.

In other terms, loose based.

In the United States, the possession, an cultivation of marijuana is a Federal Offense and can warrant an individual to serve hard time in a Federal Penitentiary.

Our God He reigns forever
At His command the whole world was made

Our God He reigns, our God He reigns
Now and forever, over all things

The Father's plan of amazing grace;
Pierced hands for a sinful race
Our God He reigns forever
We exchange through His life and death
Guilty stains for His righteousness

Interesting perspective, Sir.

I'll have to read more about it.

#39737
I saw a documentary in the National Geographic channel the other day based on the MS13 Gang.

It's truly a parasitic organization. The decadence they cause in border states with Mexico is due to the porous border the US has with Mexico. Over 2 million illegal mexicans cross our border every year. Unidentified illegals, most of whom bring and traffic prostitutes and drugs to this country.

The US needs to take a stand and start to deport illegal aliens.

I first met Martin in 1994 while working at Vauxhall’s and from that time on we became good friends.  In this time My Wife and I were introduced to his 1st wife and welcomed to his home in Heswall.  Several times Martin and I would enjoy going for a drink and socialising, we also had the same hobby interest of jet skiing.  We always had a good laugh at work and he had lots of friends at his workplace.  I will always remember Martin as a joker who was always laughing and winding other people up.  He was from my point of view honest and trustworthy.

I have spoken to Steve on the telephone and asked to be updated.

I was very shocked and saddened on Saturday to learn of Martin’s death, my thoughts are with his Family at this terrible time.

Here’s what I think in my opinion,

The Bohol Chronicle should never have published the photograph on the internet of Martin’s lifeless body, firstly it is so undignified the poor man must have suffered enough, secondly his parents do not need to see their poor son in that condition and finally this picture says to me, if you go against us (locals) then this is what will happen.  This kind of media would not be tolerated in Great Britain as to protect the Family from shocking images.

Ian, Wallasey.

Greetings Ian,

Yes I do agree with you that the Bohol Chronicle shouldn't have posted the picture of Martin's lifeless body on the front page. Such a picture is too graphic and should have been used as evidence for the prosecutor.

But the way things are handled in the Philippines is a little different from say here in the 'States or over there in the UK.

I just do hope they change their way of handling reports. For decency towards the victim and the family.

We have Martin and his family in our prayers.
The Lord Jesus Christ grant mercy and pardon to the soul of Martin.
And that justice will be given.

This we ask in Christ's Name,
Amen.

And its great to read your post because it sparks the attention to those of us Filipinos abroad of the situation of our beloved Fatherland. Despite the situation, the fact that there are people who are voicing disinterest and marching protests, calling their congressmen, senators, running for political office is a sign of the growth of Filipino politics. How are we going to make our voices heard?

Well, Corgan, here in the United States, the people are free to protest and to march a rally in Washington D.C to express woes and redress to the US Congress.

As afterall, the US Congress is never deaf to the voices and pleas of the people.
The Senate, and the House of Representatives, afterall, are elected under the sole oath to represent the interests and to listen to the people. To be the voice of the people.

The same applies for the Philippines. Continue to protest, call your local congressman, or senator if you have a problem, a concern for an upcoming bill or not.

The day the people give up on their government, is the day the government will collapse.

It is that very pessimistic tone by some peoples that can lead to the destruction of any government. In the end, the government is there to SERVE and HEAR the people.

A government is composed of individuals, elected and chosen by the people from amongst the people. To be the VOICE of the People!

It's their job to hear. So even if they don't show interest in hearing, you have the right to demand to be heard.

You're paying them with your taxes. Are you not?

Are we just to shut up and wait? Boy what a feeling of helplessness!
Where before we saw our leaders retire in unexplained poverty, now we see them wallowing in luxury and flaunting their wealth in utter disregard to the millions of Filipinos who live below the poverty line.

How are we going to make our voices heard?

And we, the American people, sympathize for the Filipino people. But this manifestation follows the natural flow of things; in regards to socio-economic-political mandates.

You simply cannot expect to attain a level of modernity after 60 years since independence and some 22 years after Martial Law.

It simply isn't possible.

Take a look at the United States, some 60 years after our independence, the country was subjected to wars against the British (1812 war), the wars against the Indians and the Mexican American War, then the great Civil War. Which plunged the nation's economy, debilitating it for almost 4 decades. Then there was the Great Depression, Drug Cartels etc etc.

There is no level or regard in American history or any history of any other western nations that exempts the country from corruption and socio-economic troubles.

And it is totally unfair to compare the Philippines to western nations. As these nations were independent for over 200 years or more.

It just isn't fair to categorize and compare the Philippines in their level. We're in different levels here.

There is an intrinsic flaw in comparing the Philippines to the United States and other Western nations in terms of political maturity and corruption levels. As it is unfair for the Filipino side.

The Philippines is in a different level. And to compare with western nations would be to subject the Philippines in a lower ground.

Instead, it is best to compare the Philippines with other modernizing nations and compare the level of corruption, with the GOAL of minimizing corruption to the levels of say, in the UK, US, Canada, etc.

There really is no difference, Buwad. That given fallability is in all peoples in any given society. The only difference is that here in the US, there are more established organizations that catches those guilty of graft and corruption. More independent groups.

For the Philippines, the entire country is still modernizing, so there are more gaps in which the 'hardened' politicians can squeeze through.

What counts is that the Filipino people who are disgusted by the actions (or lack thereof) are voicing their opinion. Democracy in action.

$170 BILLION of AMERICAN tax payer money was used by AIG to pay off its creditors to foreign banks.

How do you think we, the American people, feel about this? We are outraged!
That is a large chunk of change; and add salt to injury, most of the senate didn't even read the proposed bill, putting trust in the Obama administration.

It turns out that the largest donors to Obama's Campagin was AIG.

Incidental? or?

I will not make judgment right now as this is still under investigation.

The point is, every government makes 'F'-ups. Even those that the westernized ones.

That is a problem in running a government of a developing nation, Corgan. Even here in the United States, which is the model state, suffers graft and corruption. Case in point the situation with AIG.

Have faith in the government of the Philippines and the need to change. You cannot expect to completely remodel government and expedite change with a mere whimb. For change to take place, peoples must voice out their disapproval through the proper channels.

Cervical spinal manipulation is very effective wen our sternocleidomastoid and mastication muscles are tensed or are extended due to some sort of pathology/stress. Patients who have torticollis, which is the stiffness of the neck due to lesions in the associated cervical spinal nerve, the best treatment is neck massage to loosen the tensed neck muscles. Cervical spinal manip. would be perfect.

I really give credit to the chiropractors and osteopaths that know their stuff. Medicine is becoming more and more multi-faceted, bitaw.
#39753
Raquel, am glad that you find it interesting, too.
A group of us began an OMM practical this month, actually. The reason why we're interested is because we are students of an allopathic medical school (M.D)

And they don't really go into detail or teach us about OMM and other neo-classical philosophies that are taught in Osteopathic schools or chiropractics.

So what we've been doing, lol, is actually learning ourselves with the help of our anatomy instructor (who was a licensed chiropractor in India, while being a medical professor). So during exam weeks, a group of us (4-5) try new techniques on ourselves. Mostly small high velocity therapy. I personally like the scapula/shoulder massage as it' a great stress reliever.

Another thing we've tried to experiment on this last week was on podiatric massage. "Foot" massage. And do believe me when I say, "It Works". By placing the medial aspect of the metacarpo-phalangeal in clenched position and applying circular force of action on the sole of the foot.

;D

Something that I cannot get.

Last semester, when we were doing our rounds for General Gross Anatomy, my anatomy group had the pleasure of opening the thoracic cage of our cadaveric specimen. Upon exposing the mediastinum, and separating the lung from the pericardium, we noticed fibrillization of the specimen's lungs. It was apparent the specimen probably (most) died of lung cancer. Considering we also did histologic samples on the patient's lung tissue and it did show carcinomic cells.

Yet after anat lab, there were students in my batch who were smoking outside the parking lot.

I don't understand why. I ask my friend who also smokes why she does~ typical answer: Stress relief.

*sigh*

Lami Ang Wine?
(ni glacier_71)

sa dihang gitanda ko ikaw
sa balayan sa imong kahinanok
nabati ko ang dinagook
sa imong paghagok
sa dalikyat mihayag
imong mga mata
ug dayon mitikyop
pagbalik ang mga tabon
nga giagni sa katulugon
nasangit sa hayhayan
sa nagsalimuang kaugalingon
unya kanako ikaw
miingon, "Ga, lami ang wine?"

nilanog sa langit imong katawa
nga giduyogan sa akong masusihong pangutana
"naunsa ka?"

This poem is great.

Lets analyze the statues of the Roman Emperors and observe the divinity portrayed in their image.

This statue is of Emperor Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus Germanicus (CALIGULA "little boots")

Caligula applied the Imperial Directive and asserted his Divine Authority in his decrees. Notice in his statue that he is crowned with the Wreath, which signifies Divinity. Again he is robed in ceremonial priestly attire, which required little covering on the upper torso, as a role of the priest required to offcer sacrifices to the gods. Priests didn't wear upper torso clothing since it would be stained red by the blood of sacrifices.

Caligula's statue indicates that he is the Chief Priest of the Empire, as the role of the Emperor was the protector of the Religious activities and the primarch of worship. By wearing the Imperial Crown and the attire of a Roman Priest, he declares that his authority and power comes not only by political right, but by the favor of the gods.

Also notice that in his left hand he has the mantle of the Consul and Praetor, signifying political power. And in his left hand, he holds a worshiping plate. In roman religion, you would offer burnt offerings on such plates to the statues of the gods. Caligula holds one on his left hand, signifying the need to offer divine praises and sacrifices to him. It declares his divinty.

Notice that by his feet, is the emblem of the Roman Empire. The Roman Eagle. Usually, a Roman Eagle's wings is outstretched (as seen in the banner of legions), but in this case, its wings are folded, signifying fealty and respect. A sign of prostration. The Roman Eagle, which is the symbol of the State also standing by the foot of Caligula, indicating that the State is below the Emperor Caligula. Notice that the Eagle looks up to Emperor Caligula. It signifies Caligula's Divinity. It declares, "I am A God-Emperor, By whose authority was given to me by the gods above, and by right and right alone, to rule and command Rome, its legions, its people, and empire"

Another statue to analyze:

This is yet another statue of Emperor Caligula.
Note he is dressed in full military breast plate, which signifies his Imperial Authority.
Yet on his head, he is wearing the headdress of a roman priest.

The emperors combined items of their Imperial office with that of religious symbolism (either it by a priestly regalia) to portray their authority. Divine Authority.

I don't know why Filipinos make fun of their accents. I really admire Filipino accents. It sounds so genuine, and strong.

It gives depth and character to English when spoken.

It gives added authority, me-thinks.

Case in point, when my father used to get angry at us, when he said, "Come over here" in his Filipino accent, we, his children, would scramble for cover.

lol
#39765
Mr. Rald, you did bring up an interesting point. Emperor Worship. Yes, you are right, Sir, during the time after Augustus, the state promulgated the act of Imperial Divinity. Thereby making it a Roman Law, and since the Imperial Senate and the Praestors controlled religious festivities, made it necessary for Roman citizens to usher Divine praises to the Emperor of Rome.

This was actually nothing more than precedent.

After the murder of Gaius Julius Caesar in 44 B.C by Cassius, Brutus and supporters, the people of Rome, under influence by Marcus Antonius, who was also Co-Rulers of the 1st Triumirate. (Power shared with Octavius).

Gaius Julius Caesar was so popular within the plebians, that even after his ceremonial cremation, the people of Rome demanded his divination. Under redress by the People of Rome and by the Armies of Rome, the Imperial Senate acquiesced to this request.

Formally and officially deified Julius Caesar as a GOD. He would be known as Divus Iulius.

And it was only after the rule of his grand nephew, Octavius, who would be known as Augustus Caesar, the 1st Emperor, that the precedent of Imperial Divinity took place. Augustus was praised and honored by his subjects, and was considered a God in life and in death.

Imperial Divinity and Right of Divinity was used by Roman emperors to legitimize their rule. By claiming favor from the gods. But this precedent ended, officially, upon the coronation of Emperor Constantine I. Constantine was also a Christian. And denied the divinity of the emperor, recognizing only the divinity in Christ.

It was Constantine who brought up laws and edicts that made it hostile to be pagan; by levies of taxation.

Emperor Diocletian, was really the last pure 'pagan' Roman Emperor that maintained the divinity of the Emperors. As after Constantine I, most emperors were Christian.
#39766
Mr. Rald, Id like to read more into this research. It sparks my quaint interest.

The only discrepancy  that I immediately recognize is purely chronological-based.

Caesar Julius was murdered in 44 BC, giving a 40 some year gap. Christ Jesus was speculated to have been born during the reign of Herod I, which was in the early 1st century AD, and was said to have died in his 30s, estimating the Lord's death on the cross in around 33 AD.

Gaius Julius Caesar was murdered in 44 BC, and his son was said to have been sent to India. Historically speaking, that would have made him around 70 years old during the time of Christ's death. And around the age of 40+ during the time when Christ was born.

Nonetheless, interesting perspective.

Another memory hit me today:

Bata pa ahong igsoon baji, Angeli, naka hinumdum ko.

I was biking and racing other kids in Torrero Private Road, in Tagbilaran.
But I wasn't wearing my chinelas when I was biking, then i could hear the sound of my little baby sister (she was only 3 y/o at the time) :'( She was running after me crying, "Doy, Doy, imung sapatus doy! doy!" she was carrying my chinelas with her~ running to me to give me.

But she tripped over a rock and she fell and hurt her knee. I immediately heard her crying, and i jumped out of my bike to run to her. Na hilak si Inday Angelie.

Luuy pood si Angel, tambuk raba to ijang cheeks sa unang panahon. lol.

My little baby sister. She was only 3 y/o and she was already caring for her family; especially for her very rebellious older brother Bran.

I thank The Lord GOD for giving me a little sister.

My sister is very much like my mom in terms of personality. Very mature, but she also has the temperment of my father. The temperment of a Leyteno.

hahaha!

Manay Tess, I will lite a candle for your papa tonight. I pray for your mama in law. I was in tears when I was reading your posts some time again on how your mother in law and father in law were in such conditions.

I can only imagine the pain she is having to loose her life partner. But there is beauty in our tests and the challenges given to us.

Your father in law, was called home, by our merciful and loving Lord, Jesus Christ.

Whatever happens to us, Tita, it is and was mandated already by the Lord. We, his children, can only accept his plans and rejoice in His unending Love. Our Heavenly Father knows what is best, always, and everyday.

Be strong, Tita. In my prayers and in my thoughts.

It was 1988 or 1989 ba to', but Daddy came back from Saudi Arabia and brought with him alot of toys for me and my sister angel. Man I remember dad bought me all these legos and lego blocks, a remote controlled airplane and car, and toy engineering equipment: toy crane, toy dump truck etc. hahaha. And for my sister, he brought back barbie dolls and clothes.

It was always so lively when Dad came back home. And I can always remember my dad's cologne smell. Aramis. Very strong musky style.

When dad packed up to go back to Saudi, I would always ask if puydi ba ko mo koyog nimo daddy. Ingoon pood sija, dili pooydi, doy.

Dad would hug us and kiss us goodbye; but after he drove off, I would go back his room and cry hard.

Even now, to this day, if i smell aramis cologne, i always think of my Dad. :)

It is interesting to read such an article.

And to know that it was politically motivated, despite the claims by the publishing company's refutation of it being merely 'satirical'. I scoff at such impudence, to think that we, the Filipino community can be easily dismissed and accept such two-sided poise.

Nonetheless, the damage has already been done, and the effect manifested after the cause.

This is one of the reasons why I am a staunch proponent of closer relations between Manila and Washington D.C.

It is only through Philippine diligence and the power and authority it has in its claims through a strategic alliance with the United States of America, that China dares not intervene in the region militarily.

Long Live Philippine-American Brotherhood, and to the continuity of our Strategic Alliance!

The Chinese can only smirk knowing that the Philippines has a blanket claim on the Spratlys, knowing that Uncle Sam supports Manila. All the way.

To Mr. Tsao, cheers to you!
