Life is filled with problems, challenges, mountains needing to be climbed, etc.

Its up to the individual to pursue his or her own path. Take the trodden path or the road least taken.

The beauty of Eucharistic Adoration.

I personally invite all others to enter the chapel and partake of silent Eucharistic Adoration.

The Body, the Blood of Christ.

Faith is the very motiving force that prompted men of God to build churches, seminaries--places to teach men to become men of God--so that they would teach and preach the Word of God unto the masses. To be dispersed like sheppards unto the sheep that would listen.

:)

Religion, is justified in the Faith. It is perfected in The Faith.
So long as the one who practices has Faith.
You see, religion is a vocal point, a communal forum that the faithful man congregate, to share and express their faith. They communicate and commune because their hearts are filled with joyous exaltation, their soul demands them to sing GLORY to the Lord God. For the soul is created by God. :) It will innately want to sing Glory to its Creator and Salvation.

When you go to any church, any Christian Church, and observe the ministries, listen to the teachings, the songs, the voices of the faithful, you can see--not with your eyes---but see with your heart and faith---the rising of the songs and prayers to the Throne of the Eternal Living God.

That is the beauty of Catholic Mass. Whenever I attend and have the honor of singing for my Lord, and to partake of Body and Bread of Life, and in solemn contemplation, also hearing and observing the beautiful prayers that are given to The Lord. The voices that sing the songs to the Lord. And you know, and are justified with such feeling of unexplainable bliss---that indeed, THE LORD's presence is in the Church.

That: Is called the feeling of the Holy Spirit's presence. And it is so powerful. Absolutely powerful.

It breaks any foolish notion of trepedation by others that condemn. It is the breastplate of Faith. The Armor of God.

Glory to Christ Jesus.
Who Was, Who Is, and Who Shall Come.
Amen.

Ate Lee, it would be far more prudent and opportune for us if this world was a more peaceful place, if religions wouldn't be used as pretext to make war on one another as it has since the continuum of classical human history.

Only if that was the case.

We see this in the current age, the Jihads being waged with one another, etc.
The same is observed a millenia ago in the Chrisian Crusades.

When religion is utilized for a political goal, the consequences are observed.
----

In my view, religion is necessary. Many people will disagree, as they have the right to disagree. But the beauty of a firm religion, is the preservation of Faith that is meant to be practiced. Faith that has been observed since the days of the Early Church Fathers.
The very practices of the early christians that practiced their faith in the catacombs of Rome under penalty of Death by the Caesarian Laws.

Through religion, faith is facilitated, observed, exponentiated, and allowed a communal vocal point to express itself, and rise like incense unto the Throne of the Eternal Living God. Faith is protected, preserved, facilitated, and all in all, Justified.

God Bless~

Im not surprised why everytime other Christian sects "throw stones" to the Catholic Church, the Catholic Church just ignore and keeps silent about the issue. Pastilan. hehehehe

We shouldnt throw stones because none of us are born without sin. None. Aside from the Immaculate Concepction of The Virgin Mary and her son, Our Eternal Living Lord---Jesus Christ. Jesus---who is THE WORD MADE FLESH. THE GREAT MIGHTY I AM.

What does it profit a man or a woman to respond with hateful words and condemnation to one who preaches and professes hate? Nothing.

We---being---Born and baptized in the faith, spirit, and water of salvation, are to uphold the Truth that we have been given through solemn Biblical Study AND the Truths that are reiterated in Church Teachings. Which---BOTH---express the Truth. Salvation On High.

There is a verse in Ephesians that I personally hold on to:

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,

Amen, woe to the act of sin, as it appropriates a proper and equal consequence.

But, we, being ALL sinners, should uphold the Grace we recieve from The Eternal Living Lord--to forgive the transgressions of our loved ones. The fruit of a true relationship is the ability to forgive one another, and purify one another through the power of faith and pardon.

Sometimes, we need a second chance. Christ died so that we might have a 2nd chance in Life. So why not give one another a 2nd chance? hehe.

The beauty of Christian Purity through the Merits of Christ~

Nothing compares.

In John 21:15-17, Jesus directs Peter to feed his sheep.

Then, when they had dined, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.” He said to him again: “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.” He said to him a third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was very grieved that he had asked him a third time, “Do you love me?” And so he said to him: “Lord, you know all things. You know that I love you.” Jesus Christ said to him, “Feed my sheep."

Notice that Jesus tells this to Peter three times, the exact number of times that Peter denied him.  The fact that Jesus told Peter this, and no other, indicates that Jesus considers Peter to be the leader of His Church on earth, not John, James, or Matthew.

In Luke 22:31-32, Jesus tells Peter that satan wants to sift him like wheat.

“And the Lord said: “Simon, Simon! Behold, Satan has asked for you, so that he may sift you like wheat. But I have prayed for you, so that your faith may not fail, and so that you, once converted, may confirm your brothers.”

Notice satan didn’t ask for any other apostle to sift. Why?  Because satan knows that if he gets the leader, the rest will scatter (remember how the Philistines scattered after David killed Goliath? Remember how the apostles took off after Jesus was captured in the Garden of Gethsemane? (And by the way,  Satan is using that exact same method today; using church scandals with the leaders to make the rest of us flee The Church).  Jesus then tells Peter that He has prayed for HIM, so that HIS faith will not fail, so that he can be completely converted, and then HE can strengthen the other apostles.

Please do note that there is a direct parallel from that verse in Matthew to Isaiah 22:

In the following verse 19, Jesus gives Peter the keys to the kingdom.

"And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatever you shall bind on earth shall be bound, even in heaven. And whatever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed, even in heaven.”

This is a direct parallel with the Old Testament Isaiah 22:20-24:

And this shall be in that day: I will call my servant Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah. And I will clothe him with your vestment, and I will strengthen him with your belt, and I will give your authority to his hand. And he shall be like a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. And I will place the key of the house of David upon his shoulder. And when he opens, no one will close. And when he closes, no one will open. And I will fasten him like a peg in a trustworthy place. And he will be upon a throne of glory in the house of his father. And they will suspend over him all the glory of his father’s house: various kinds of vessels and every little article, from the vessels of bowls even to every instrument of music.

Salvation On High gave the keys to Heaven to Peter. Not to any other Apostle, not to Mary, not to Mary of Magdalene, not to anyone else. But Peter Alone.

Note and read the specific task He gives to Peter, and The Establishment of The Church.
Which lies on the Seat of Peter. The Holy See. The Established Church of Christ.
The Original Christian Church.

: "And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build My Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of Heaven, and whatsoever You shall bind on earth, it shall bound also in heaven: and whatsoever Thou shalt loose on earth,it shall be loosed in Heaven. - MATHEW 16:18 -19

Amen for faith justifies!

Brother Tigbaonon, what you are referring to is the beauty and miraculous testament to the Immaculate Conception of Mary. hehe.

But in all things, we should always keep a leveled mind when discussing and analyzing scripture. The difference in our analysis and some of our Christian brothers lies in the opposing view on the notion of Sola Scriptura.

Most protestants uphold the notion of Sola Scriptura, whereas, Roman Catholics and Christian Orthodox uphold the notion that Faith is based on Scripture in leu with Church Tradition, a tradition which existed centuries prior to the first organized form of the Holy Bible. Which in itself was written to augment and to complement Church Teachings and Tradition.

Protestants uphold a more simplified version of Christianit, even their Protestant Bible is a simplified form, deleting some books within.

What shall we take out of this? : Differences will always be there. Since the Great Scism in the last millenia, and in preceding centuries that erupted in the Protestant Split. Know that we will differ with them in some analytical point of view in some scriptural points, but the differences that we have with each other is far miniscule to the similarities and the General Truths tha we as Christian brethren share with one another.

Let us make an example of ourselves, and shine what it means to be a Roman Catholic. And uphold the Teachings that has been passed on from generation to generation, since the time of Blessed Peter.

The beauty of faith and a pluripotent Church is the fact that we rest in Justification.
We are justified because the Church that we sing in, and put trust in Worship of Christ,
has been in existence for over 2,000 years. Unchanged. In firmament. Some churches are only 10 years old, 20 years, a century or two. But the beauty of Roman Catholicism is that it has remained mostly unchanged, from the foundation to the very present. Till the 2nd coming of The Lord Most High. Jesus Christ.

We are firm and confident, because The Church we sing Glory in, was established by Christ Himself. Peter, given th keys to the first Pontificate. And the Authority to Open and Close the Gates of Heaven are given to him.

No other mortal man has such authority, aside from Peter. And This Authority was given to him by Christ Jesus. Himself.

First of all, we have to accept the fact that man, despite his accomplishments, his potential, is innately flawed. Sin, is the pervasive root of that flaw.

So by constitutionality, religion, in itself will be flawed. But Faith that is expressed and exponentiated through Religion is perfect, therefore, by that manner of relationship, Man and religion is perfected in through Faith, despite our flawed nature.

In dealing with individuals that manifest a condemning tone, its best to initiate a polite debate, and provide him/her a balanced view. If common decency is not reciprocated by the other party, its best to disengage from the conversation.

In the end, we cannot please everyone. Nor should we ever try to. Stick to the faith. Fight for the faith. :)

Faith in Christ Alone! Who is Alpha and Omega.
If you are strong in the WORD OF GOD, trust me, you will be Justified.

Psalm 27:1 best reiterates it, "“The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid? "

Take Home Point: If God is With You, who can be against You?

God Bless, rest your mind, and most of all, put your faith, and zeal of faith in Christ and Christ Alone. Who is Salvation on High.

A BIBLICAL Warning For Those Who Battle In The Faith

10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.

(Ephesians 6: 10-18)

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. Kaning belief in spirits and wakwaks are all in the mind. If you think about it, and allow it to rule your mind, then of course your mind, which is sophisticated in imagination (or a side effect of psychotic/anti-depressive/dopaminergic antagonist medication) --that you will see images, feel some kind of feeling and presence etc etc. A "out of this world" kind of experience. All in the mind.

These notions of folk lore and superstition is as false as the concept of vodoo, which do not exist. Nor should we allow it to bother our mind.

There is NO OTHER NAME in this Earth and under Heaven that we shall partake of Salvation, but Christ Jesus! In CHRIST and IN CHRIST ALONE!

:)

Set your sights and your goal on the Prize that is Eternal Salvation! Which is calling us heavenbound, through Christ Our Savior. Thats where it should be, folks.

Yours In Christ,

Absolutely, Amen. There are reasons why old wives tales are referred to as 'Old Wives Tales' or 'Stories'. These kinds of superstitions are symbolic of a decadent past, a society that had little understanding of science and logical explanations, where rumors and heresays permeated the air due to the inability to explain the 'unknown'.

The Glory of God is made manifest in every day, in every year, in every season and His clout is unassailable.

To mitigate HIS Power and Divine Authority with notions of diwatas and superstitious idealism, which are ambivalent and totally antagonistic to the notion of the Divine Plan of God is pragmatic, let alone filled with prediction to believe in unsubstantiated circumstances.

Superstitions are just that--superstitions. A man or woman of God, who abides his or her faith solely in Church Teachings and Scriptural Authority is reminded, and reinforced in the notion of Perfection in the Faith. A faith, by all means, that can move even the mountains (yes, and I am making reference to one of Christ's parables of the Mustard Seed hehe ).

Superstitions should be taken with a grain of salt with iconic symbolism (for those of you who appreciate it merely in a cultural vantage point). A reminder for the present and future generation to observe the society as it was in centuries past, that utilized superstition in order to rule in the masses, a way to keep the family in order, or even to scare children to sleep.  And leave it there.

Because in all due respect, if we are to hold Faith to the Teachings of Christ and uphold Christian Virtues, which are solidified and Justified in Church Teachings in lieu with Scriptural Reading/Authority, there really is no room for the belief in superstition.

Lastly, I close with this verse in Scripture, which awakens the Soul!
:

You believe that there is one God. That's fine! Even the demons believe that and tremble with fear at His Name.

--James 2:19

Misty, I will show you how to get to heaven
when time comes for you to face the Lord.
In Biblical way as the Lord has commanded us to do
that is if you are willing to do it.

step 1- recognize yourself  a sinner by birth
            Psalm 51:5 - "Behold, I was shapen in iniquity;
and in sin did my mother conceive me"
Romans 5:12 - "Wherefore, as by one man  sin entered
into the world and death by sin; and so death
passed upon all men, for that all have sinned"
Sin through Adam, salvation through Christ
step 2 - all of us are under sin
Romans 3:9,10  "There is none righteous, no not one"
step 3- the consequences of sin
Romans 6:13 "Neither yield ye your members as instruments
of unrighteousness unto sin; but yield yourselves
unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and
your members as instruments of righteousness
                                    unto God"
              We died physically and spiritually
step 4 - God's supreme sacrifice
Romans  5:8 "But God commendeth his love towards us, in
that, while we yet sinners, Christ died for us"
              Hope for you in Christ.
step 5- what the sinner must do
            Acts 17:30 "And the time of this ignorance God winked at;
but now commandeth all men every where to repent"
step 6- Repent, turn to God
Romans 10:9 -"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the
Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God
hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved"
Romans 9:10- "For with the heart man believeth unto
righteousness ; and with the mouth confession is
                      made unto salvation"
1Corinthian 15:1-4 "..how that Christ died for our sins
                        according to the scriptures;
And that he was buried, and that he rose again the
                        third day "
step 7- Call upon the Lord to saved you
Romans 10:11 "Whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed"
Romans 10:13 " For whosoever shall call upon the name of the
                                        Lord shall be saved"
Acts 16:30, 31 " What must I do to be saved"
"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou
shalt be saved and thy house"

hehehe very good! Very good, indeed, Amen! Glory to Christ the Savior!

Kani pa, states!:
""Behold, I stand at the door (of your heart)  and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him  and dine with him, and he with Me."
(Revelation 3:20)

Christ is Salvation. For there is no other name In Earth or In Heaven that we will be saved. None what so ever! In Christ and in CHRIST ALONE!

Inspiration & Hope / Re: True Life Abortion Story
July 29, 2009, 02:14:02 PM
Bottom line: Life is about responsibility. You reap what you sow.

If one is irresponsible, one should bear the consequences of their actions.

If you impregnate a woman, or if you are yourself pregnant, have the guts to raise the child and give it the best that you can provide. Be responsible.

Instead of taking the 'easy' way out. Life is Life. To even think about aborting, just because your life and your own expectations is at risk, is completely selfish. It does not justify murdering the unborn child.

Its simple moral and ethica inhibition. Simple from right and wrong.
Justifying murder, especially the silencing of children, most especially the unborn, is in my own point of view beyond comprehension. I cannot even fathom condoning it.

No matter what anyone's argument.

July 29, 2009, 02:08:22 PM
To declare when a living human life is 'human' and 'not yet fully human' by an abstract concept referring and regarding to gestational age : embryo vs fetus is in itself a weak argument.

The embryo that grows inside the womb is a human life. And abortion, by act, and by practice, is in itself murder. The act of abortion is to Extinguish human life. To erase life.

Excuse me lang, but that to me there is nothing different from murdering a human being outside of the womb. Life is Life.

To play with words in differentiating embry from fetus, is pathetic. Life begins upon conception. Medically, and spiritually.

Inspiration & Hope / Re: The Beauty of Faith
July 28, 2009, 06:16:07 AM
By our very nature we want to cling to things that we can see, touch, and feel. We want to hold the solidness and substance of things in our hands, feel the firm ground under our feet. We want things to be concrete; even our idioms reflect our desire for solidity in our lives.

29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” â€" John 20:29

Yet, that’s the paradox of faith â€" that things that are able to be experienced in the here and now require no faith at all to believe. And that’s the beautiful thing about faith; it requires a conscious decision to step outside the bounds of what is known. Faith is a choice; you must choose to believe.

1 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. â€" Hebrews 11:1

--

Even so, I also believe that faith is a gift. If this is true, then when it is new faith must also be cared for like a new plant. It must be tended to, fed, watered, given light. This is how we increase our faith; by spending time with a God who is unseen. While this continues to confound those who choose to remain without faith, it’s a beautiful mystery that’s unveiled layer by layer in our lives; and as our walk with God deepens, so does our faith.

So, for those who stick to the faith, fight for the faith, and fight the good fight. God Bless You. :)

Well it certainly does not help the American economy when OFW's from all other countries are running their monies to families abroad and some of them are exempt from reporting and paying into the tax system to help maintain public services, even though they are using it daily does not make a lot of sense now does it.

I am more releived to know that recently America has said it is no longer in need of nurses as they have enough coming from around the world and America also has their own surplus of nurses to work these days.

So less people will be getting visa's to the land of the free and the land of liberty.

I think it is better as Philippines needs it's nurses here do to an over booming population that never stops growing and its shortage of resources in just about everything.

Philippines needs its people to love its country stay here and freshen things up instead of always running from the problems here.

I am in Philippines do you see me sending this countries money out of here?

ha ha ha

Interesting.

As one who is a product of the Filipino Medical Diaspora (The Filipino Brain Drain), I am placed in a situation in analyzing this predicament. Considering both my parents are Medical Professionals and part of the Brain Drain Wave.

As a Filipino medical student, I do understand the importance of medicine in any given society, and the role of the Physician/Surgeon, for the health of that given nation, and at the same time, one cannot give ear to the notion of the law of economics 'Supply and Demand'.

The Philippines, currently, is saturated with Nurses and Doctors, tho. The nation is known throughout the world as a 'Medical Machine'. The Philippines as a nation, produces thousands of Doctors and Nurses every year. It produces technocrats. You name it: Doctors, Nurses, Engineers, Seamen, IT Workers, Physical Therapists etc.

What bears testament to the Philippine Intelligence and Will is the fact that there are over 20,000 + Filipino Physician/ Surgeons here in the united states. Do you know that the Filipinos make up a large chunk of the medical work force here in the 'states. Our numbers dominate not only the nursing field, but the medical pillars. The 2nd largest foreign medical graduates that practice here in the United States are from the Philippines.

The reasons for it is the fact that:
1. Filipino Medical Schools are above par; and produces highly qualified physicians
2. Filipino Medical Graduates have high success rates in passing the USMLEs
3. Philippine-Trained Doctors do extremely well in their clinical rotations over here in the United States due to their experiences in the Philippines. Philippine Doctors are exposed to cases that are unheard of in the United States. Cases such as: Dengue, Yellow Fever, Polio, Leprosy, varying types of viral infections.

----

True, Priscilla, the United States might be limiting its nursing demand due to the rising nursing profession here in the United States, but speaking as a medical student, medicine will be a field that is cyclic.

Demand for more nurses and doctors will make it inevetible to open the doors, yet again. It is estimated that by 2020, the United States will be in shortage of Doctors. This means that the doors will yet again be open to allow more highly qualified foreign graduates.

Filipino Doctors are in the top list due to their innate strengths:
1. mastery of the English language
2. hard working
3. ability to do what many would give up on.

----

Alot of American Medical Graduates prefer to specialize in surgery or higher tiered resident spots. We want to specialize. Thats the trend nowadays, "specialize, specialize'.

But to the dismay of the nation, we are in DIRE shortage of primary care docs (PCD).

We are in shortage of:
1. Pediatricians
2. Family Practice Docs
3. Internal Medicine
4. Psychiatry

---

And do you know what spots the Foreign docs are getting into? hehee yup, got it!
Primary Care.

So long as there is demand, there will definitely always be a supply.

Oh my what an incompetent doctor. I myself don't trust the doctor there. Last time I went visit my family I got sick. Got high fever after visiting the known expensive hospital in the city I won't mention the name. I must have pick up some bugs. I got scared of going there again but my family insist I should go so they can check me up and at least give me prescription antibiotic. You won't believe how long the line is. Ended up spending half day waiting while my body shiver. One thing I notice since I am following a foreigner patient the doctor spend long time talking to this people. When it's my turn the doctor ask me few basic question regarding my health. Well guess what when I sign up the form I wrote lot's of symptoms in there some were not true I am just making it up. I wanna make sure how incompetent is the doctor is.
The lady doctor seems nice and she became more nicer when she know I live in U.S and then I start throwing lot's of medical term on her the one I read and learn before.I complain about I had otitis media and so on. To my horror she believe all my story. She sure believe all the crap I am talking to her. She start writing prescription medication on me but before that I actually stop her and said. How about check my blood pressure first and my vital sign and can you at least look on my ears. She check my ears and guess what she use the little dinky flashlight.  She never had the ear examination tools. She proceeded to write prescription antibiotic on me then and sure enough it's the most expensive antibiotic since she know I can afford them so she refuse to give me the generic one. These doctor were suppose to be the best doctor in the city but I guess not.

I'm saddened to read of your poor experience with some physicians, Ate Raquel.
But I can assure you that I have met some Boholano-bred Physicians here, and some of them are in Psychiatry, Family Practice, or Internal Medicine specialities.

I think the limited ability of the hospitals in Bohol is due to the lacking in funding, and the increased patient demand. The resources are in 'tight' check. As you provided us with your personal example of how long the line was.

From what I've heard from my relatives, the hospitals in Bohol are limited due to the funding situation. The Government in Bohol Needs to put medical facilities in the priority list. And I do hope Mayor Lim and Governor Aumentado read this.

Please put more resources on Bohol's Health Care!

Update,

Without mentioning the Dr's name who had prescribed and instructed the medicine to my friend the other day.

I had talked him into going to get a check up with the dr.and he agreed to do it this afternoon.

According to the written instructions from that particular Dr. he/she had written take 2 four times a day!.... Oh MY God!

The Medicine Intern Dr. said that the Dr. had made an error and had been overdosing my friend by four pills.

She was ale to prescribe new medicines and explained tht the four pills over was the cause of his skin burning and bumping up of the veins.

The face, neck, arms legs and back of his head down his spine swollen puffed up and rashed out.

The overdose is what caused over 50% of his symptoms including major dehydration, watery diarrhea, weakness, and dizziness.

She was thankfull that he was smart enough to stop the first medicine on his own b4 the prescribed 5 days was up.
Quote from: thegirlnextdoor on July 28, 2009, 02:32:13 AM
The stupidity of this whole thing is because my friend is obese. So Dr. told him "Your fat I want you to double up from the normal dose."

I also have been told the same things by dr's here. i have found myself in bed the following day not being able to get my head off the pillow let alone knowing my own name.

The medicine required by the body is the same regardless of bodysize. according to his new Dr. today.

The moral of the story: Always cross reference and ask for a 2 to 3 tiered medical advice.

Tho I do have to admit, pharmacologically speaking, a larger a patient is, the larger the dose, due to the adipose tissue hindrance. Metabolism can be hindered and effect can be delayed due to the size of the individual, depends on the drug's lipid and blood solubility, which determines onset of action. Or for the physician that prescribed the drug, he or she was referrin to the MAC potential for the said anti-histaminase.

Instead of doubling the drug, he should have given an extra 'umpft' instead of a double dose. But whatever, that was his or her own professional rationale.

Just want to know if your friend is now in stable condition.

seeing this picture reminds me of my younger days in Bohol. I would always try to sneak inside our family's Kamalig in the back and try to feed the pigs some banana leaves. And i remember seeing the workers in the back cleaning the pig pen, the chicken  stalls. Id love to help them feed the pigs, the goats, the chicken, to get my hands dirty. hahaha!

Then my yaya would always shout at the workers to get me to go back home, because i wouldn't listen to the yaya. I didn't care if they threatened to 'latus' me, i wanted to hang out with the workers and feed the animals. lol :P

Oh i miss the sound of the rooster's call in the break of morning.

hehe, mao bitaw, Ate. We can only make sure to give proper anti-histamines as well as fluid and electrolyte IVs.

If the poison is isolated, then the order for proper anti-toxin can be made.

My only question is whether the hospital has resource required to order such, considering its location and financial predisposition.

In this case, I would recommend the family transport the patient to a large hospital system, per se. University of the Philippines Medical Hospital, or Santo Tomas Hospital Systems, or even Cebu's Cebu Doctor's Hospital.

The Philippines is a leading medical care provider in the region, and am sure and absolutely confident that this patient is in good hands.

20,000 Filipino Doctors practice here in the United States. The 2nd largest FMGs (foreign medical graduates) in the 'USA. Second only to the Indian-Pakistani Physicians, which number to over 40,000.

Filipino Doctors are considered one of the Best of the Bests here.
And they were trained in the best medical schools in the World.

Thanks Lorenzo.

What are your familiarities to such reactions and what are the symptoms to look at before it goes into a non totally re missive state in where it would be at the point of not being helped or saved?

The type of spider that bit him was a small black spider that jumps around.

Also what are symptoms to look for as far as a victim is concerned? does the spider die after attacking his prey?

Dear Priscilla,

I cannot make an exact prognosis as I do not know what species of spider attacked the individual nor do I know what previous medical condition, any medication that this patient was on prior to the incident of the spider bite.

We have to understand and take into consideration that drug interaction could play a role in the manifestation of side effects and symptoms, considering the notion of impeding with the drug metabolism in in the hepatocirculartory system or even extrahepatocellularly.  (meaning in the liver or outside the liver---as we have Liver enzymes known as CYTOCHROME P450 isoenzymes, which are responsible for the metabolism of drugs, toxins etc; any alteration in the operation of these isonenzymes, can either increase the effect of drugs/toxins (in the case of inhibtion of the hepatometabolism, or the antithesis (opposite of which, in regards to the induction or overinduction of said enzymes).

---

The patient that was bitten by the spider was injected with endotoxins from the spider, which will elicit an immediate humoral defense response (immune system response) from the body due to the fact that the toxins are foreign from the body.
What happens in this case is that the circulatory system will increase mast cell production, and with it the release of prostaglandin and bradykinin, as well as the release of mast cell's histamine. Histamine causes swelling, vasodilation,---which triggers for more wbc and macrophagial cellular systems to come to the area of infection and insidious onset to mitigate and contain the toxin.

Histamine can cause bronchoonstriction, which will lead to a difficulty in breathing, as it causes spastic contractions in the bronchioles, now if this man was an asthmatic patient, this would be an important contraindication. Difficulty of breathing would occur--and with that, a plethora of medical conditions correlated to that: dyspnea, nausea, vomitting, headhache, tremor, etc. etc.

The drug : "Celestamine" is nothing but an example of Anti-Histamine. Its a simple and a general subtype used here in the United States as well as in any country in the world with an established medical system. The PHilippines, being one of them. :)

The problem is not the drug, Priscilla, the problem is the pharmacokinetic and the pharmacodynamics that occurs when the drug is taken. If the patient was taking nitrates, if the patient was taking cimitedine or phenytoin or any other drugs that can inhibit or induce the CP450 isoenzymes, this would affect the metabolism of the said drug and other drugs that the patient was taking.

I don't know the patient and dont know his medical charts, but if he was an CHD patient, he would already be C/I (contraindicated) for the provision of "Celestamine" since it causes cardiotoxic efffects. Can cause tachyarrhthmia etc etc.

----

I don't think the problem stems with the Philippine Doctor's incompetence, on the contrary, Filipino doctors are one of the Best of the Best here in the 'states.

The problem would probably lies on the fact that the Filipino doctors don't have full access to the patient's medical history, drug list, or the lot. SO their ability to prrescribe medication according to contraindications and medical diseases is hindered. The patient, who, am sure, went to the hospital, already in a shocked state, was not in the state of mind to provide his complete medical history, nor does hhe have the list with him, considering the fact that this bug bite situation was totally an assymetrical circumstance. It was probably not in his plans to get bitten by a spider in his trip to the philippines, and therefore nullify any subconscious notion of bringing his entire medical files from his physicians back in Europe.

---

Right now, the best thing to do for this patient is to maintain in hospital care. So that the honored Nurses and Doctors in Bohol can monitor his situation, and provide the medical condition that is alloted in the Province of Bohol.

I have just learned and seen a Norwegian friend of mine visiting here his fiancee on his school break now and what i observed was not good.

He was in the car of his GF's dads car and was bitten by a poisonous biting spider and went into shock after being injected with the spiders venom.

When he went to the hospital here in Tagbilaran the Doctor administrated a wrong medicine in him and it has caused him to have swollen veins and be broken out in 95% of his body.

He has times in when he suddenly stops breathing or is short of breath.

Please people be careful of spiders, snakes, and frogs who have poisonous venom.

Doctor's please be careful when administering medicines.

I have just received an update from my friends girlfriend he said he is not eating and is tired and feeling weak, she is worried about him and his experience here makes him scared to go back the Dr. or hospital.

I hope i can get the attention of the media and bring this to the publics attention.

please people be careful.

I am really worried about my friend now.

Please give advice he was given the medicine "Celestamine".

he was also the foreign judge for this years Miss Bohol International.

Priscilla, we are holding your friend in our prayers. We hope and pray that he will be healed and he will make it through this. Through Christ our Lord, Jesus. Amen.

Please give our prayers and words of support to the family and friends.

Be firm in faith. And be good. :)

Christ Jesus Is Alpha And Omega.

Remember, if GOD is with You, who can be against you?

---

Read!

See to it then that no one enslaves you by means of the worthless-deceit of human wisdom, which comes from the teachings handed down by men and from the ruling spirits of the universe, find not from Christ., For the FULL content of divine nature lives in Christ, in his humanit and you have been given full life in union with him.. He is supreme over every spiritual ruler and authority.
COLOSSIANS 2.8-10

People put alot of emphasis on superstition and idolatrous beliefs, of diwatas and enkantas. Why limit yourself and restrain yourself?

Instead of emphasizing 'ghosts and spirits, you should lift your faith and eyes to THE LORD. Who is Above All Things.

Who has the power to save or condemn your eternal soul.

para ig atubang nato sa  atong Maker, dunay kaseguroan ug asa

Repent and get saved.

Amen. There is no such thing as superstition nor should we put emphasis on superstition as it is warned of us to partake of such. The Lord God, Who is Maker and Creator, is Alone, the one that we should appropriate both Fear and Love to. No one else.

I cannot put enough emphasis, that vain supersition and empty beliefs are not only infantile, but lacking in substance and authority. Fear not what can kill you or harm you in this world, but Fear the one who has the POWER and AUTHORITY to pardon or banish your soul during The Day of Judgment.

The Lord Our God specifically, I reiterate, SPECIFICALLY tells us not to put emphasis on any other power and Authority besides Himself.

Let me remind all of you, some of who you are learing towards empty and false beliefs:

What does the Lord Our God tell us about Fortune Telling, Prophetizing, spiritual mediums, belief in supernatural spirits etc?

[READ ISAIAH]
I make fools of fortune-tellers and frustrate the predictions of astrologers. The words of the wise I refute and show that their wisdom is foolishness (44.25)

Disaster will come upon you, and none of your magician stop it... Keep all your magic spells. and charms you have used them since you were-young……. You are powerless in spite of the advice you get. Let your astrologers come forward and save you those people who study the stars, who man out the zones of the heavens and tell you month to month what is going to happen to you….. They will not even be able to save themselves... those astrologers, you consulted all your life.(47.10-15)

---

The Lord GOD's Plans are His Plans Alone. Everything Abides and Accords itself To HIS DIVINE PLAN. Nothing Else.

Hark!

I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plant to bring about the future you hope for. Then you will call to me. You will come and pray to me and I will answer you. you will seek me, and you will find me because you will seek me with all your heart.'

What does it mean to be 24?
A lot of things are in my mind right now;
friends, family, mom, dad, brothers, sister, cousins, grandparents, uncles, aunts, school, work,
so much more to name, to put in words.

I can't help but recollect the fact that when my father was 24 years old, he was already a licensed and certified Civil Engineer. Already a graduate of CIT (Cebu Institute of Technology) and was somewhere in Saudi Arabia (Riyadh etc). At 24 he was already engaged to my mother, at 24 he was already a bread maker for his family.

It feels wierd because I know that being 24 is an indication of middle young adulthood. 6 more years then I hit 30 :P

One thing that I recognize is this: Time goes by too fast.
One minute we're just graduating from High School,
the next minute, College Graduation,
the next minute, we're knee-deep of work in 2nd year med.

So I look back in gratitude for the blessings, for the challenges, and most of all, the comfort and solid support The Lord God has given me. Through His blessings of family and friends. That I recognize, and praise HIM for. Then at the same time, I look forward to years ahead that HE has planned for me, whatever it may be, I give thanks so much for HIS faithfullness.

And in contemplation, that what life really is all about. Not what others do, or what they make with their lives, but it is about what you can do, with the situation you are in, the circumstance given, and the time allotted in our lives. For each and everyone is different. Unique in their own way.

So, guys, for those that are years ahead of me (hehe), and those years below me, know that life is filled with turns and stops. Filled with calm winding roads, and some filled with potholes and unpaved roadways. Do we take the paved and trodden path or the path least taken?

Its up to you, and I. Its the beauty of Free Will.

But what makes the cicumstance more sublime is the fact that through it All, we are Never Alone.
Because in each single step we make, Christ Jesus is always there with us. Above us, below us, within us, next to us, speaking to us in our ears, our hearts, our minds. He is there when we we don't wish to hear Him, He is there when we do seek HIM, He is there when we FIND Him.

Life. Its a gift. Make use of it. Christ Commands It. :)

God Bless Us All!

Yours In Christ,
Bran Lorenzo

A Mother's Love

A father's love is unchallenged, a love of sibling, of friends, all are deep and to the heart. But there is a unique love regarding Mother. Mom, who bore us 9 months in the womb. Mom, who underwent pain and labor to give birth to us--to offer us life in the world. Some mothers even endured over 26 hours of labor (my mommy). Just for me. So that I could live. Mommy.

Mom, who stresses and worries for our namesakes throughout our lives, our childhood, teenage years, and even now--in early adulthood.
Mom, who prays for you even when you are sleeping and thinking of you on your birthday.

Is a reminder, that we were once little things that grew in our Mommy's womb. Part of her, yet individually different.

Where would we be without our mommies?

Personally lang, i am nothing , nowhere without my mom and my dad.
Mommy~ mingaw ko nimo..

Mike, my eyes are filled with tears and my mind filled with emotions (homesickness, missing family, friends, and at the same time am awakened by the schedule of the day).

This life of ours, tho sometimes we want a time to relax and recuperate, really dont have much time; we must do what we can with the time we are given by our Lord Our God. To the best of our abilities.

Mike, and to everyone, again, I want to thank you all for the kind blessings. Please know that my heart is so deeply touched, more than words could describe. :)

The Lord God has given me a gift and comfort of friendship with you all, to share and parttake of the same bread of Life that He gives to all of Us. That so long as I am here, always know that I hold all of you close to my heart.

I love you, my Boholano brothers and sisters. Happy Birthday to all other July-Babies, as well :)

Amen!

We have alot of questions in life, questions on matters of life, doubts, etc. When the mind thinks too much, asks too much questions and logical explanations for things--it can be a hindrance.

There is a time for logics, and there is a time for FAITH. Trust. :)

You see, a relationship with Christ is like a lifelong relationship with a loved one, a wife, husband, mother, father. Total Trust is necessary. Surrendering to God everthing.

Put all your trust in HIM, praise HIM, bless HIM!
And when he pours out all HIS blessings to you, bless HIM back! Give it all back!
For the Lord gives and gives! hehe, A healthy relationship with GOD is a trusting relationship. Trusting HIM with everything, and ALL things. hehe

Be Good!

In the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name

Blessed be Your name
When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed be Your name

Every blessing You pour out I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

Blessed be Your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's "all as it should be"
Blessed be Your name

Blessed be Your name

Another 'No' that really means a 'Yes'.

A man asks his gf if she wants to cuddle with him after watching a movie, she says 'No', but at the same time, licks her upper lip and makes gestures.

Clearly, that 'No' is not an ordinary 'No'. hahaha

It is then up to the man, to make the proper strategic action. Think, strategize, equate, and Execute. mmhmm ;)
#36781
haha, mo ask man ko kalingaw before taking ;)

Pero one can analyze a woman's response by body language.

There are some 'No's that are actually 'Yes.

#36782
Or if mo ask ko if i could have a kiss, mo ingoon, "Are you sure?"

lol.

mo reply ko, "Can I? Please?"

Mo remark immediately: "I'll think it over."

aray! :P
#36783
When I was courting a girl in college 4th year, one of the things that she would say to refer to a 'No' was, "I'll think it over, babe."
or "Honey, hush it!"

lol.

When i would go to tickle her, she would say that. Once, twice, third, but on the 4th of 5th attempt, she would say "Honey, hush it!" ;)

But the problem was her body language said otherwise. hmp! lol

Anonymous Diary Blog / Re: Grace: The Meaning Of
July 24, 2009, 12:43:32 AM
I want to add something lang, a symbolic view point.

We all are sinners. Am I right?
Romans 3:23 expounds on this "For All Have Sinned and fallen Short of the GLORY of GOD."

So it is written. But though we all are deserving of death for our sins, we are, nonetheless given the saturation of Faith that comes from the death and rising of Our Savior, Jesus Christ.

In Adam, we fell. Death consumed us. But through the incarnation of the Living Word, Christ Jesus, who was born of the Virgin Mary, and was sentenced to death by Pontius Pilate, was given unto the Cross to satiate the penalty of Death that was Ours.

For it is written: "The Penalty of Sin is DEATH."
We are reminded of this in Romans 6:23:- For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Do you see, brothers and sisters?

You and I are deserving of Death. In fact, we are doomed to death--which will happen. As we all die, but the death that I am talking about is the soul. Because Christ offered HIMSELF on the Cross, he paid the price that was supposed to be for US. So we, being faithful christians and holding to God's Word, are washed. Cleansed. Saved!

We are purified through the Blood of Christ, and His Crucifixion on the Cross.

He died so that we might Live.
He rose on the third day, so that, we, too, might share the Glory that is our reward in Heaven.

By Grace we abound in Faith.
By Grace we are Saved.
Grace Saves. Grace is a Gift.
Not from Man, nor any animated or created thing.
But a Gift from the Eternal Living GOD.

That. Is powerful contemplation.

Anonymous Diary Blog / Re: Grace: The Meaning Of
July 24, 2009, 12:33:16 AM
For me,

Grace. What is grace?

I was contemplating today just on this issue, and concept. The grace to do good, the grace to hold your ground, the grace to be compassionate, the grace to move on after a wound, a separation, a deep hurting. The grace to rise above the situation. All of these are our own possible examples of personal Grace. Yes, brothers and sisters, but what I was deeply struck by is the Grace that comes from GOD.

And there are two verses in scripture that touched me, that pierced deep into my soul, that widened my eyes to deeper understanding and to contemplation, that I, too, would like to share with you all. For by Grace it was shown to me, and by Grace of the Holy Spirit that I share with you, my loved brothers and sisters.

Romans 5:1-2:-Therefore having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God.

2 Corinthians 9:8:- And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

---

So as observe, Grace, indeed, is a source, a foundation, a rectification, a justification, a solid force, a pedestal of comfort, a gift that comes not from Us, no, it is a Gift give to US by The Lord God In Heaven. Who by the death and resurrection of HIS Son, Christ Jesus, have appropriated to each and everyone one of us.

Just take the time to contemplate, to resound in the beauty of Scriptural Truth.
From which, every good work and basis of Faith, comes from.

Through the Power of the Blood of Christ,
Who justifies Us.

So, your turn. :)

A SlAVE of EGyPT

“Leave us alone, let us serve the Egyptians…” â€" Exodus 14:12

When you see the word Egypt, what comes to mind? A pyramid, right?
Did you know that it is believed that the chosen people of God were among the slaves who built the pyramids?
So why is it that after being freed by God, they still wanted to return and serve the Egyptians?
This is because the Jews found their identity in Egypt. They had been used to living as slaves. When they say their names, “a slave of Egypt” follows as their title.
Each of us also have our own “Egypt.” The Egypt in us is a sin that keeps us from freeing our spirits to receive God’s promises.
We like going back to this Egypt.
Even if we know that we have been freed from sin, we still do it.
Even if we know there is a Promised Land waiting for us, we continue to serve that Egypt.
Maybe when we know who we really are, we will be free from the Egypt that enslaves us. Arun Gogna

REFLECTION:
What is your Egypt?

Father, set me free from my mistaken identity by revealing to me who I really am â€" Your child.

-from DIDACHE

Amen, i really like this gospel, my friend!

Lord, deliver us from our personal 'Egypt' that comes between our Love and Faith in You. Give us the strength to find and walk the right path, tho it be hard and filled with challenges and circumstances, let us walk in your ways and light, Jesus Have Mercy!

And give us the reassurance and JUSTIFICATION UNASSAILABLE, that through it all, you will never leave us.

For yours is the Power, The Honor and the Glory. Now and Forever.
Amen.

unsaon man nato pagdawat si Jesus? aron makauban sa heaven?

Good Morning jsr,

I was brought to contemplation with your honest question. Let me provide some things that you should read. And I do openly invite you, igsoon, to openly read Scripture. And Search the beautiful passages that is the Word of the Eternal Living God. You are also more than welcome to join us in our Bible Study thread here. :)

But for the purpose of your question, here:

For our sins, we all deserve to die. Death and hell are the punishment for sin. But, not only is God perfect and sinless, He is also merciful and loving.

The Lord is... long-suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
-2 Peter 3:9

But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound.
-Romans 5:20

----

Because Jesus was perfect and blameless, He alone was worthy to cleanse us from our sins. And the only way He could do that was to die for us, because the punishment for sin is death.

The shedding of the blood of Jesus on the cross is the only way that our sins can be forgiven.

Jesus Christ... loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood...
-Revelation 1:5

But God shows His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
-Romans 5:8

Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down His life for His friends.
-John 15:13 (Jesus speaking)

(Jesus) bore our sins in His own body on the cross, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness. By Jesus's lashes you were healed.
-1 Peter 2:24

---

The only requirement is to make Jesus the personal Lord of your life. Without Jesus, there is no reconciliation with God. Without faith in Jesus, there can be no forgiveness or eternal life. Good works will not save you, either, even if they far outweigh your bad deeds.

Jesus said unto him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me."
-John 14:6

When the Son of Man shall come in His glory and all the holy angels with Him, then shall He sit upon the throne of His glory: and before Him shall be gathered all nations: and He shall separate them one from another. Then shall the King say unto them on His right hand, "Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world." Then shall He say also unto them on the left hand, "depart from Me, you cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels."
-Matthew 25:32-34,41

For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.
-Ephesians 2:8,9

--------------

Realize, though, that living for Christ doesn't just mean that you say a prayer, get out of going to hell, and live the same life you always have. Salvation is an ongoing and life-long process. It is the daily pursuit of Jesus and a real relationship with him. It is dying to your own desires and living for God's desires. And the more your life is changed by the word of God, the more you will realize the goodness his ways bring to you and how unfulfilling the ways of the flesh are.

What man is he that desires life, and loves many days, that he may see good? Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit. Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.

Dear Ricky,

I just read your reply. I would scan you a copy, however, I am far from home, am in medical school right now and am miles away from home.

As for relatives, we have a growing Tan family in my maternal side. When my Lola Babing (Balbina Tan) was alive, she did tell me that back in the 1940s, Lolo Mariano (My Chinese Great-Grandfather) took my grandmother and my grand-uncles to China (Guangzhao Region) to visit relatives over there.

And I do know that my side of the Tan Family were Han Chinese since they hailed from Guangzhao (the ancestral root of the Tang Dynasty), and since my Lolo Mariano's native tongue was Cantonese Chinese.

I want to someday reunite with some of my Chinese relatives (Tan Side) in Guangzhou. I want to find out more about them, since they are an entire chapter of my own identity and my family's identity that I want to get to know.

One cannot help but to know more about one's history. I have an entire chapter of my family that remains 'Blank'. I want to know more about my Chinese ancestral side. I want to visit the graves of my Chinese great great great grandparents. to see where that side of my lineage and progeny come from.

:)

Thanks for the conversation. I wish you luck in your search as well.

God Speed.

All the best,
Lorenzo
