An excerpt from Fr. Jerry Orbos’ column, Moments.

In today’s Gospel (Jn. 18, 33-37) Jesus confidently answers all the questions hurled at him by Pontius Pilate. What made him so cool and confident through it all? Truth. Truth was on his side, so he had no fears and nothing to hide. A truthful person is confident and free. A person full of lies is fearful and trembling deep inside.

Face the light, and the shadow is behind you. Turn your back to the light, and the shadow will always be in front of you.” Knowing the truth and accepting the truth is the best road toward true confidence and freedom.

How many of us take the road of compromise and spend our whole lifetime vacillating between half and full commitment, ready to mouth our convictions for anyone and everyone to hear, but fold up and do otherwise when no one is looking or listening? The seat of our values must be deeper than what this world offers. We are not saints, but at least, we can be, and should be, truthful.

We all will face our King someday. What will we tell Him then? What will He tell us then? Yes, we all have a mission to accomplish in life. The mission is non-transferable and non-negotiable. And the mission is not indefinite. We all have a mission to accomplish and this cannot be bypassed nor postponed.

A moment with the Lord:

Lord, remind me that you are the source of all the confidence I need in life. Amen.

The beauty and magnificence of this message resounds the importance of Truth
It is the truth, and the only truth. Truth in Christ Jesus.

As it is said in the Scriptures, "The Truth Shall Set You Free." {Veritas vos liberabit}

The Truth in Christ's Gospel sets us free from the sins of this world, the false teachings, and the heresies that have been ushered by many. It is in studying the Word of God and in conversing with like-minded individuals who have the same yearning to search for the meaning of God's Word--that will help us to continue in our life-long pilgrimage.

So, brothers and sisters, I will reiterate the same message that Paul reminds and shares with us in Philippians Chapter 3, Verses 7 to 11:

7But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith. 10I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.

My darling told me in a conversation regarding Iloilo, "You know, hun, in Iloilo, the farmland runs continually. Outside the cities, its all rural and agrarian towns. Simple lifestyle. Good food. Family Unity."

I replied to her, "So, darling, it sounds just like Valencia to me."

She replied, "Is Valencia in Bohol?"

Reply pood ko, "Yup yup."

"I'd like to visit Bohol, someday, if you'd take me there.."

"I'll show you Bohol, and you show me IloIlo"

Ladies, Gentlemen, Brothers and Sisters,

As I read this thread, I cannot help but get a sense of understanding between our individual selves in the appreciation of a good death. And a sympathetic tone for those who are suffering and needing release from pain.

So join me, lang, to usher a silent prayer for those who are in pain, and are close to their time, let us pray for them. Please join me.

Lord,
Savior most clement, most beautiful Savior,
You who called the dying girl in Judea to rise from death,
You who with a simple command ordered Lazarus to rise from his sarcophagus,
You who have power over life and death, the finite and the infinite,
Please hear our prayers to keep a merciful hand over those who are dying,
who are in pain, who are suffering terminal illness, and disease.
Call them on their hour of death, Lord, so that their souls may rise to see THY GLORY.
Call them so that they be released from pain, and to be worthy to enter THY GLORIOUS PRESENCE.

Lord, please give them a strength to see their affliction,
to seek and find compassion and peace in your Love.
Give them the strength to face death, and to see what lies after death.
Console their faith, Lord, so that they may be worthy to enter Thy Kingdom.
And to sing thy praises in the Land of Beauty, The Land of Eternal Bliss,
In Your Kingdom.

We Ask this in the name of Jesus Christ.
Amen.

Bolingitboy, what is also wonderful to see is that the church resembles the styles of churches that are in Mexico City built in the same time epoch; as well as the old style churches that are still in Sevilla, Burgos, Barcelona, and Madrid, Espana~.

Dearest gentle soul, adored one, the apple of my eyes,

Darling, I have missed you this entire day. I have not seen you today, for the purity of our studies we must part for the time being. So that our mastery of our subjects can be made into manifest. That thou would wait on me as I studied, and request to converse with me despite our schedule, brings to me, the gladness of the soul and the joy of love's eloquence.

When we have finished and written these exams, my love, I shall promise you all the more of my love.
The powers of pathology, embryology, anatomy, medical ethics and epidemiology shall be force to be conquered and trampled under the heels of our feet. For my love shall cross the borders of subjects, shall repudiate the lymphoblastomas that stand before, the acute lymphablastic leukemias that stand behind, and the slides that stand in between. The shall be pummeled into the depths of the sea.

I dream to hold you with the palm of my hand, and to embrace you with my warmth and adore you with my soft kisses, yet again.

Shall there be a power that keeps us apart? I pray to God Mighty Providence to shine His good graces on us.
I pray that the Lord continue to watch over you, and to guide and protect your heart. Your love for me.
May the Lord always watch your steps, and I pray that it follows a direction towards your lover who longs for you.
In mind, body, and soul.

Stacy, I adore you. I respect you. Beyond word's descriptive phrases.

I Love You,
All The More,

written by: A. Lorenzo

I shall wait for you.
Through the years,
through the plentiful tears,
I shall wait for you.

As the sun rises and beams glorious ray upon thy face,
As time continues, through the days, weeks, months, years,
If it takes that long, I shall remain constant,
as the Northern Star that guides souls back to port.
I shall wait for you.

Many fair ladies shall come to me,
Offer me their courting nature,
And incite me to write to them,
however, woman, I shall hold my pen.
I shall hold my heart.

For they do not and cannot compare to you.
I shall wait for you.

Well said, Carmen.

Love and Life is a process, we learn as we go on. When dealing with our lovers, we learn together, and a healthy spiritual life is life-giving ray of light to a growing plant that is Love.

My love and I are Catholic, and she's constant in her Marian adorations. She prays the rosary frequently, as we go to church on a regular basis (when not exam week). She is the one that re-introduced me to praying the rosary.

A relationship that is built on firm foundation, especially on the footing of the Word of God, is essential for the success of the relationship. Everything else blooms from a healthy spiritual relationship. Between Lovers and through the Love of God, who showers lovers with the ability to Love; and to receive love through His Grace.

A woman's hand can steady and calm the heart of a man. The gentle touch of a woman's soul softens the heart of a man, they both complement each other.

Confidently,
Lorenzo

Two other interns that were with me were sobbing, given tis was our first time seeing this kind of death.

The attending physician did wake us up in saying that this happens all the time, that interns start as being emotional, and in the end, that we will become numb to this.

I see it already, as a necessity. It is important to not get attached. Pero for me lang sometimes, ma luuy man sad ko sa ang pamilya. Luuy lang pood intawn.

Death not so much for the patient who will die, but the family members that are left in its wake. It puts great emphasis on the importance of counseling and therapy for those who are grieving..

I could not even help but cry. yes they were only babies.

The mom was strong for her kids. And her tears were beautiful tears.

Somehow, im sure deep down in her heart, before she passed on, she probably knew that her kids would be fine. To me, the most touching part was how she kept her arms around her kids the entire time. She died with her arms around her kids.

When the kids started to cry really loud and shaking their mom, I had to leave to room. Because I was crying myself.

When we deal with patients that are older, and whose children are older and have a bearing of life and death, it is common for kids, grandkids to tell their parents, grandparents who are dying and in pain to, "Let go. Go in peace."

And its true. Ive seen this. Its common.

Pero hard bitaw to see a mother/ patient who is in her late 30s dying of CML Chronic myelogenous leukemia.
A mother of 3 kids, the oldest being 12, and two little ones that were no older than 6 or 8 years.
The kids were sitting on their mother's bed..crying for her, and she..though she was dying, had her arms around them crying as well.

I could not hold back my tears when I saw this.
And in this case...the kids were justified.
They did not want their mother to go.
Am sure, she did not want to go soon, but all she could do was comfort them in the end, as well as be comforted in knowing that she was loved by her kids.

Its the supremacy of it all, you see.
It is the manifestation of MOTHER'S LOVE.

For me, it was both sad and beautiful to see. As an observing intern.

In the spirit of the beauty of the message that Ms. Blue shares with us, the following is a prayer written by
the late Pope John Paul II:

Consecration of the Church and the World to the Blessed Virgin Mary,

O you, who more than any other human being
have been consecrated to the Holy Spirit,
help your Son's Church to persevere
in the same consecration,
so that she may pour out upon all men
the ineffable benefits of redemption
and of sanctification
for the liberation of the whole of creation [cf. Rom 8:21].
You, who were with the Church in the beginning of her mission,
intercede for her in order that,
going all over the world,
she may continually teach all the nations
and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.
May the Word of Divine Truth
and the Spirit of Love
find an opening in the hearts of men,
who, without this truth
and without this love
really cannot live the fullness of life.

You, who have known in the fullest way
the power of the Holy Spirit,
when it was granted to you
to conceive in your virginal womb
and to give birth to the Eternal Word,
obtain for the Church
that she may continue to give new birth
through water and the Holy Spirit
to the sons and daughters
of the whole human family,
without any distinction of language,
race, or culture,
giving them in this way
the "power to become children of God" [Jn 1:12].

You, who are so deeply
and maternally bound to the Church,
preceding the whole People of God
along the way of faith,
hope and charity,
embrace all men who are on the way,
pilgrims through temporal life
towards eternal destinies,
with that love which the Divine Redeemer himself,
your Son, poured into your heart from the Cross.
Be the Mother of all our earthly lives,
even when they become tortuous,
in order that we may all find ourselves,
in the end, in that large community
which your Son called the fold,
offering his life for it as the Good Shepherd.

You, who are the first handmaid
of the unity of the body of Christ,
help us, help all the faithful,
who feel so painfully
the drama of the divisions of Christianity,
to seek with constancy the way
to the perfect unity of the Body of Christ
by means of unconditional faithfulness
to the Spirit of Truth and Love,
which was given to them by your Son
at the cost of the cross and of death.

You, who have always wished to serve!
You who serve as mother of the whole family
of the children of God,
obtain for the Church that,
enriched by the Holy Spirit
with the fullness of hierarchical
and charismatic gifts,
she may continue with constancy
towards the future along the way
of that renewal which comes from
what the Holy Spirit says
and which found expression in the teaching of Vatican II,
assuming in this work of renewal everything
that is true and good,
without letting herself be deceived
either in one direction or in the other,
but discerning assiduously
among the signs of the times
what is useful for the coming of the Kingdom of God.

Mother of men and peoples,
you know all their sufferings
and their hopes.
You feel in a motherly way
all the struggles between good and evil,
between the light and the darkness
which shakes the world
accept our cry addresses
to the Holy Spirit
directly to your heart
and embrace with the love of the Mother
and the Handmaid of the Lord
the peoples who await this
embrace the most and likewise the peoples
whose consecration you, too,
are particularly awaiting.
Take under your motherly protection
the whole human family
which we consecrate to you, O Mother,
with affectionate rapture.
May the time of peace and freedom,
the time of truth,
justice and hope,
approach for everyone.

O you,
who through the mystery of your particular holiness,
free of all stain from the moment of your conception
feel in a particular deep way that
"the whole creation has been groaning in travail." [Rom.8:22],
while, "subjected to futility,"
it hopes that it will be
"set free from its bondage to decay" [Rom.8:20-21],
You contribute unceasingly
to the "revealing of the sons of God,"
for whom "the creation waits with eager longing." [Rom. 8:19],
to enter the freedom of their joy [cf. Rom.8:21].

O Mother of Jesus,
now glorified in heaven in body and in soul,
as the image and beginning of the Church,
which is to have its fulfillment
in the future age here on earth,
until the day of the Lord comes [cf. 2 Pet. 3: 10],
do not ceases to shine
before the pilgrim people of God
as a sign of sure hope and consolation (cf. Lumen Gentium 68).

Holy Spirit of God,
Who are worshipped and glorified
with the Father and the Son!
Accept these words of humble consecration
addressed to You in the heart of Mary of Nazareth,
Your bride and mother of the Redeemer,
who the Church too calls her mother,
because right from the Upper Room at Pentecost
she has learned from her own motherly vocation!
Accept these words of the pilgrim Church,
uttered amid toils and joys,
fears and hopes,
words which are the expression
of humble and confident trust,
words with the Church,
forever consecrated to You,
Spirit of the Father
and of the Son,
in the Upper Room at Pentecost,
does not cease to repeat together with you
to her divine Bridegroom.
Come!

"The Spirit and the Bride say to the Lord Jesus
'Come..." [cf. Rev. 22:17].
"Thus the Church is seen to be
a people brought into unity of the Father,
the Son, and the Holy Spirit" (Lumen Gentium, 4).
Thus we repeat today:
"Come", trusting in your motherly intercession,
O Clement, O Loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

By Pope John Paul II
Prayed before the icon of Our Lady,
in Salus Populi Romani, on December 8,1990.

I'm glad to know that you and I love this prayer. :)

It helps in strengthening us in our daily pursuits.

My favorite part in this prayer is;

For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life,

:)

God Bless, Ms. Orchids.

It sends shock to my back to read this. And it is true, ...it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
For our life in this world is not total. When our life here ends, our spirits shall rise from the body and be called before the Judgement seat of Christ. To which we shall be judged according to our works and to our faith.

It is chilling that I posted this 5 months before your passing, Ma'am Orchids.
But i stand with it. And  you and I stood with it.

It is in dying...that we are born to eternal life...
That I am very very sure of.

In Jesus' Name.

November 22, 2009, 10:42:26 PM
A peaceful death is a good death.

I was in the hospital floor once, when I saw a patient whom I talked in previous days, pass in front of my eyes.
She was a terminally ill patient, a cancer patient. Stage 5. She was placed in hospice care, actually.

There she laid in her bed, her death bed, her eyes were gazing at her family members..her children crying before her,
crying, "Mom, don't go, Mom, please don't go."

Her eyes were filled with tears, not with sad tears, but with tears of joy...joy to see her kids around her, her husband near her, she was surrounded with love, she passed on to the next life..with love and peace around her.

She passed on so bravely, and in the end, it was a good and peaceful death.
Surrounded with her family,...hear last breath, minutes, vision and hearing was that of her kids voices.

God Bless her...

This is another beautiful verse,

Verses 1 to 7 of Chapter 4 in the Song of Songs:

Ah, you are beautiful, my beloved,
ah, you are beautiful!
Your eyes are doves
behind your veil.
Your hair is like a flock of goats
streaming down the mountains of Gilead.
Your teeth are like a flock of ewes to be shorn.

Which come up from the washing,
all of them big with twins,
none of them thin and barren.
Your lips are the a scarlet strand;
your mouth is lovely.
Your cheek is like a half pomegranate
behind your veil.

Your neck is like David's tower
girt with battlements;
a thousand bucklers hang upon it,
all the shields of valiant men.

Your breasts are like twin fawns,
the young of a gazelle
that browse among the lilies.

Until the day breathes cool and the shadows lengthen,
I will go the mountain of myrrhe,
to the hill of incense.
You are my all-beautiful beloved,
and there is no blemish in you.

This is one of my particular favorite verses in the Song of Songs:

Chapter 1, verses 7 to 11:

"Tell me, you whom my heart loves,
where you pasture your flock,
where you give them rest at midday,
Least I be found wandering
after the flocks of your companions.

If you do not know,
O most beautiful among women,
Follow the tracks of the flock
and pasture the young ones
near the shepherds' camps.

To the steeds of Pharaoh's chariots
would I liken you, my beloved:
Your cheeks lovely in pendants,
your neck in jewels.
We will make pendants of gold for you,
and silver ornaments.

Reason for the mask: It was a dusky trek, climbed and hiked for hours!
So to prevent dust from being inhaled, a group of us hikers went 'Taliban' style, as what Gary put it. lol.

It was a nice experience, we were able to climb this mountain crevice, and survey the southwest desert.
In symbolic appreciation of the challenges of 2nd year medicine and life's obstacles, I pose in military victory.
The conquest of the mountain, for us, was quite symbolic.

My sweetest darling,

Can you not live without me?
You said to me the other day, "Al, I can't live without you."
What do you mean by that?

You must learn to live when I am not around, for you are only a 1st year, and I am a 2nd year.
I will begin my clinical rotations, and for 2 years I will live far away from you, seeing different people, talking to patients, etc.

You must be strong, my sweet. Must be strong.
Be faithful to know that I give myself to you and only you.
You and no other.
For no other woman can compare to you.
You and no other.

I realized how deeply you care for me, now, after your comment to me.
"I can't live without you."
Deep. Your comment caught me by surprise.

And now I realize it, that even when we are studying by ourselves,
mo request ka to skype with me.
So that we can video chat with each other.
Even if we don't talk, so long as we can see each other.
Now I know.

I am justified because I realize, too, that you feel strongly about me, as I feel for you.

Be strong in me, as I am in you.
Wait for me, darling.
Wait for me, and I shall wait for you.
Wait for me, baby, and I shall cross the oceans for you.

----

Stay with me, and the best is yet to be"

I Love You,

Tita Blue, Amen! AMEN!

How to claim salvation?

Acts 16:27-31
27And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.
28But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.
29Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,
30And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
31And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

Romans 10:9
9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Romans 5:8-11
8But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
10For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
11And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

Things she cannot resist about me:

1. My massages, i love to give massages...soft tissue or deep tissue massage
2. My warm hands, i love to rub her back, and to comfort her when she is having her period, when she is homesick or when she was sick with the flu. I stayed with her the entire time. Cooked for her, nursed her to health. And despite it all, never got sick. She reserved me 5 days worth of amoxicillin as precaution in case 'i infected you, al!" hahaha. I fell for her when she said that to me. Because it showed me how much she does care for me...my health and welfare.
--In the end, all 5 days i stayed with her, mo kiss gihapon ko nija. Even when she was coughing and fever chilled, kiss gihapon ko. I did not want her to be alone. Thanks be to God, my immune system was strong that i did not get sick at all. he he he

3. How i am so very affectionate to her. How i respect her complex mind, and am so persistent with her.
She asked me, "Do you really love me, mahal?"
I replied to her in her native Illongo, "Palangga ko ikaw, babae...."
Ning hilak siya, itawn. So powerful that it brought even me to tears...

A question was asked of me,

"Sir, what does it mean for us to "Wait Upon the Lord" ?

---

Answer: Put confidence in all you do in the Name of the Lord, my sister.
Waiting on the Lord means that you are placing firm faith and firm constancy on the Will of the Lord God.
Whatever He may decide for your life, either it be good or bad, you are willing to accept it with an open heart,
and yet still proclaim His Praises.

You see, my friend, waiting Upon The Lord means that you are open to his chastisement when He is correcting you,
and are willing to comply with His will, which is an example of PURE FATHERLY LOVE.

You wait upon the Lord as a child waits for his mother's milk.

You wait upon the Lord as a groom waits for his bride upon the altar.

Just as The Lord calls us and bends us each by name, we should also wait for HIM.

No one can measure the depth of his understanding, he gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.
But those who TRUST in the Lord will find strength, they will soar like EAGLES, they will run and not faint or grow weary.

So, sister, TRUST in the LORD!

-----

Psalms 27:14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

Micah 7:7 Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.

In light of Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition, taught to us through the Bride of Christ, the HOLY MOTHER THE CHURCH, this world is doomed to hellfire. And it is only through sanctification and through the mercy of God through The Son Jesus Christ that one will be saved from a definitive Eternal Perdition, which is guaranteed and saved for the devil and his fallen legions, which prowl this world looking for lost souls.

Corruption in this world is adamant and TOTAL.

The only realm where there is no corruption is in the Kingdom of the Most High God who Is Seated in Glorious Spleandor in Heaven Above! Where there is no room for wickedness or corruption, whatsoever at all.

As it is said:

1 Corinthians 15:50,
"I tell you this, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable."

The Imperishable is the corrupt bodies, and all that is sin; Incorruptible is the soul and the spirit made Perfect in CHRIST!

Bible Study / Re: The Catholic Faith

Good point, Vince.

The reason why our numbers and the Muslim numbers are high is because Catholics are the main Christian body.

There are over 1 Billion catholics world-wide. There are also over 1 Billion Muslims world-wide.

Due to our shear numbers, alone, we will make a force. However, given individual statistical analysis, it says alot that  only 30% are made up by Catholics.

Again, I still stand on the Human Factor being the causative factor for corruption. The prevalence of corruption throughout trans-religious lines is mandate for that argument. Whether a nation is predominantly Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, Christian (Catholic or Protestant or Orthodox), Athiest etc, there will be corruption.

---

In the scriptural sense, corruption is a global bondage, one cannot escape it despite where one lives.
As it is proclaimed in Truth in Romans 8:21;
"That the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God.

I do believe in Unconditional Love.

It is a kind of love that accepts a partner for who they are. The strengths (many) as well as the weaknesses (few).

The whole package!

Because when I invest on something, I want the whole return.
