Cars and Automotive / Re: Mistake of Toyota

Absolutely. The only reason why they are making such a big deal is because prior to this, Toyota has had a clean history. Does not matter tho, as the American automobile consumer market still prefers Toyota/ Lexus, Honda/Acura, Nissan/Infiniti.

To Ms. Cyclist,

You wore a bright pink attire today. Good to talk to you and meet you in the bike trails this week.

Pleasure, is mine. Next time, please don't get on my side of the trail because had I not reacted to your immediate stop, I would have rammed into you.

I was going 30 mph downhill. And you were going uphill on my side of the trail.

Casually,

Poems and Poets / The Duet

by: Albert G. D. P

I would be lying if I said
i couldn’t read
what is on the back of my hand
because what is on my mind
describes the inscription
on the palm of my hand

That’s why I can’t help
but look down and prepare
the roles in my eyes
every time I hear
your familiar tone
trying to play by ear
on keys I’m still trying
to find to hold.

then i strike a chord
you search the sound
to imitate, we both smile
and create a look so similar
so familiar
because you have music
in thought to my lyric

I think we can commit
to memory this piece
of harmony we started
to play and lend
a melody to
but if not i’ll try to play
without notes
and hopefully
you’ll follow too.

I wish the best for the politics in Valencia. It is good to hear both sides, and hope and pray that who ever wins, that they be honest and transparent in their policies. No more corruption, fair play, and for the winner to never hold grudges on the supporters of the opposing side.

I have heard stories of how some members of Valencia were denied water and power because of opposing the current power. I do not like hearing such allegations as this should not even be occuring, if it is occurring, that is.

Fair elections na lang ta. To THE LORD GOD be all Glory, Honor and Praise.

Notice that the Filipino Revolutionary Republican Army used Spanish Mauser rifles.
State of the art, in those days.

Reason: The Spanish Army provided Spanish Mauser rifles for their soldiers. And after the defeat of Spain to the Republican Forces, all Spanish arms were collected and distributed to the Filipino Revolutionary Army.
At its peak strength, the Filipino Revolutionary Army was 70,000 man strong.

It was a full-fledged-functioning military force.

It was destroyed and beaten into submission during the Philippine-American War.

These are American Cavalry Auxillary troops with Filipino Macabbees, celebrating a victory in Bohol after defeating the pockets of the 1st Filipino Republican Army.

To us now, it is interesting to look at, but to the Filipino intelligentsias and the revolutionary republican army officers and soldiers, they considered the Filipinos who aided the Americans in the Philippine-American War as, "Traidores".

Pound per pound and tonnage of steel indicates to us that the Imperial Navy could have defeated the United States Navy had they both fought in tactical gunwarfare. The Imperial Japanese Naval Command thought that the war between America and the Japanese Empire would be through battleship warfare. As this was the battle plan tactic by the naval high command, which explains Japanese heavy naval buildup years prior to the war.

The Japanese Navy, during the starting of the war, had the largest aircraft carrier force seen in the world.

Had Japan invaded America instead of stopping at Hawaii, it could have effectively put the war in American Soil, and allowed the Japanese Warmachine to consolidate its possessions in Asia and the oil rich Dutch Malaccas as well as take advantage of the raw natural resources of South East Asia and in Machuria and Korea.

Japan's tactical downfall was fighting in defense. Japan could have won the war had she taken the offensive after her attack on Pearl Harbor. Instead of steaming the Combined Imperial Japanese Fleet away towards Marshall Islands, Admiral Yamamoto should have invaded Hawaii and consolidated the resources there as the American forces in Hawaii were numerically undermanned. After the invasion of Hawaii, the Japanese should have bombed Panama Canal, thereby preventing further American naval forces to rushing to the east and thus giving Japan time to consolidate her military prowess.

Japan, during this time of war, had a military force that numbered over 5 million enlisted men.

The United States during the beginning of the war had an elisted men of no more than 200,000.

Japan could have won this war had she continued to be on the offensive.

As they say, offense is the best defense.

Historical Tid Bit:

It was in the waters of Leyte Gulf, Philippines that the Imperial Japanese Navy was obliterated as a fighting force by the United States Navy. The Imperial Japanese Navy's 2nd Fleet under the command of Admiral Ozawa was a force composed of 4 aircraft carriers with the support of the Musashi to lure the American Navy in battle and catch them off guard as the Imperial Japanese 2nd fleet's main force under the command of Admiral Kurita, including the Yamato and 10 heavy cruisers and support destroyers were to attack and pulverize the American Invasion Force.

The Imperial Navy's luring tactic did not work as planned, and the 4 aircraft carriers under the command of Admiral Ozawa were sunk by the United States Navy, along with Admiral Kurita's main attack force, sinking of the Atago forced Kurita to make the Yamato his flagship.

The Japanese Navy lost the Imperial Battleship, Musashi in the battle of Sibuyan Sea, and with this loss, officially marked the end of the Imperial Japanese Navy's fighting capability to ever threaten the United States Navy ever again in major naval combat.

~~

Japan in this war had the 3rd largest Navy in the world.
During her Imperial Glory Days, had an arsenal of 11 aircraft carriers and hundreds of destroyers, cruisers and battleships. Japan's arsenal of guns could not stave off the American Submarine wolf packs.

It is amazing that the liberal news media galvanizes the Catholic Church and attacks the papacy and the Catholic Ecclesia emphasizing on the pedophilia of minority of clergy members.

However, 1.7% of catholic clergymen found guilty of pedophilia does not compare to over 10% of protestant ministers who are found and convicted of pedophilia.

I have visited some christian churches (evangelical) and listened to some of their anti-catholic sentiments. Hypocrisy. Considering many of those ministers live in million dollar mansions. Hypocrisy.

It is the priest that is the living and breathing example of Christ-like sacrifice. Complete and total sacrifice.

It was the catholic church that invented the collegiate system.

It was the catholic church that invented the booking system.

Agnostics and aethiests, though they argue on basis of the presence of a deity, cannot deny the cultural and academic contributions the Catholic Church has done and contributed to the advancement of the human race.

It is the light of Christianity. The progenitor of the Christian Faith.

The Holy Bible that protestants use and read was written and authored by no other than the Catholic Church and the early church fathers.

Fact.

Swing dance practice was usually at Fridays from 7pm till 12 midnight. Crazy.

Throughout college I was a member of the SDS (Swing Dance Society), though I was a mediocre one. I will always remember this time of my life as a time of self identification, personal growth, and academic prowess. It was in this time of my life that I made life-long friendships and personal rewards.

I remember the time when a partner of mine, Amber, was so greased up (from the sweating), note that when we danced, we would dance for hours,--until the music stopped playing--and one time she literally slipped off my hands. Landed on the floor. I picked her up. And continued on for another round or two.

My beloved and adored Lolo Ciano (Casiano Salise Salvo Sr) and I.
He holds me, his grandson, when I was only 1 years old (and couple of months).
Seeing this photo makes me cry because it reminds me that when I was but a child, he carried me with his bear hands.
Gi pinanga ko sa ahong Lolo. And now in his old age, in his golden years, I was honored enough to care for him with my own hands.
How blessed is the gift and blessing of being able to see your grandchild grow into manhood.
And the blessing it is for a grandson to see and talk to his grandfather whom loves him with all of his heart and soul.

Lolo Ciano, I love you!!

Your Apo,
Bran

"Had Germany not attacked England and declared war on the United States, the German Eagle would have easily subdued the Russian Bear. Germany's defeat to the Allied Powers was not because the Allied had superior fighters, no, Germany was defeated because the German War Machine was out-stretched. She was fighting a total war with the Soviets in the East, then a total war with the Western Allies in North Africa and in the West."

Translation:

may cloud the sun forever,
can be dried in an instant the sea
may break the axis of the earth
as a fragile glass.
all happen!
death may
cover it with your funeral crepe,
but never in I can turn off
the flame of your love.

Podrá nublarse el sol eternamente;
Podrá secarse en un instante el mar;
Podrá romperse el eje de la tierra
Como un débil cristal.
¡Todo sucederá!
Podrá la muerte
cubrirme con su fúnebre crespón;
pero jamás en mí podrá apagarse
la llama de tu amor.

i saw the migrating geese today. and it was beautiful.
i saw the blooming buds of trees. and it was beautiful.
i even saw the bright blue sky, with clouds abounding. and was delightful to my eyes.
but all of these could not compare to the beauty that I see in you.

To the woman whose heart I hurt,

You expressed your love for me by the cobbled streets of Walker Annex. Some many years ago. It was December 2006.
But I did not feel the same way, and offered you my friendship and love. Yet you did not want mere friendship.
Why did you take my answer as some kind of rejection, so as much to spurn me to the side. And I saw the anger of your eyes that next day.

I gazed into your deep blue eyes. Gorgeous blue eyes. And your dirty blonde hair. Yet they were filled with anger and tempest agression on me, your friend.

Did I deserve this anger for not returning affectionate romantic love? My dear, I wish it could have turned out better for the two of us, at least remained cordial friends. Forgive me for not returning love that you offered me. If you could ever find it in your heart to forgive me in the future.

I pray to God that your ways and steps are straight. And that good measure follows you.

Best,
Brando.

Dear Prudence, youthful woman whom was the center of my affection throughout middle school and high school. Lo, I may have competed with you in academics and taunted you with commentaries and debates in class, one thing was hidden from you. The fact that I had the greatest crush for you.

In Honors Biology Class, I would be relentless in my efforts, ever so eager to claim the highest grade in class, and repudiated all who dared to come across my high marks. Only one ever came close to reaching my marks, and it was you. A threat? Oh no, you were not seen as a threat, but a weakness on this man's eyes. The smirk on my face hid the deep longing I had for you when I was but a childish adolescent. 16 years old I was. 17 years old. Till graduation at 18.

And I remember that one time you scored the highest in one exam. 100 percent and I was second in rank with a pitiful 97 percent. Oh but it did not phase me, for you said to me, "Don't worry, you'll get it next time." Was that a competitive challenge? Deign i thought it was. And ever so much inspired in me to acquire perfection yet again. Did you know that scoring 100 percent was merely a means to impress upon you? Oh my childish antics of my youth.

I must confess, Prudence, I remember the one time you came to me and whispered to my ears. And softly gently laid a kiss with your pink moist lips on my cheeks.

Now you know. If, that is, you find this confession.

A old flame,
Brando

I think it was September of 2004. It was raining, I recollect now, quite a thunderstorm sweaped across the green grass lawns of Allegheny College. A group of us guys in my college dormitory decided to streak across that night, despite the thunderous drench of rain on our youthful heads. Oh it was intense.

My roommate Georgi and I joined the rest of the guys and slid down the sloped steps of the hillside ravine. Drenched in mud, grass, and rainwater. We devastated the carpetry of our dormitory hallways as we, all 15 or so of us, ran to the bathroom showers and cleaned ourselves. Leaving the entire bathroom drenched with mud, grass, and residues of all types.

It was a thrill that we would later recieve a lecture from our dormitory R.A. Ha ha ha ha.

Amantes, amantes, we were in freshman year. ;)

It was Spring 2007, I remember coming out of the Biology Building after Dr. Baross's Microbiology Class. I was feeling the need to explore the outdoors, so I borrowed a friend's kayak, and hitched it on my Green Mitsubishi. With the sun on my face, I drove to Conneaut Lake by Meadville and kayaked the lake end. Beautiful.

The wind on my face, the sight of blooming trees, and the geese in the water. Sweet air. Sweet feeling.

As I sit in my table reviewing and reading, seeing where I have gone, what I have done and the people ive met, places seen, i cannot help but look back to the past, to where it all began. This venture into medicine began in summer 2003. In Georgetown University, under the visage of the National Youth Leadership Forum of Medicine. To see the faces of friends/colleagues in our youth. Oh where has 7 years gone?

I will start this thread for the appreciation of the past. And ponderous moments.

I'm cool Ms Isle. I'm not guilty either. Mana ko anang guilt-guilty sa bata pa ko. As one gets older muabot ra nang feeling you don't have to prove yourself to anyone anymore (like one used to growing up). And I don't project myself either... that's why I don't exempt myself from any of those items mentioned in the joke. I laugh hard because some of them "hit home" (meaning, tinuod jamo). I take what applies to me, nonetheless. No pretentions. No finger-pointing. And more importantly, di pod ko manghambog sa akong personal accomplishments... because there nothing to brag about them. That's why I make fun out of life. Sa tinuod, everyday ang akong pasalamatan sa Ginoo mao ra jod nang "nimata pako anang adlawa" (life is God's greatest gift), otherwise, kung di nako momata on a certain day, all the other gifts one posesses don't mean a thing (balay, awto, bangko, mga higala, dokdok sa TB, facebook, everything)... kung "caput" na ka.  ;D

Father, you do not have to explain yourself to anyone. Because you know that you are loved and cherished by your hundreds of parishoners. You are a man of God, and from knowing you, a good, good, man.

We love you Pops. You keep on speaking the Truth. And as a priest, a representative of Christ amongst us.

We love you, Father. I love you.
God Loves You!

Father, Thank you for the prompt response, and don't worry about it. It is just that I adore the songs that you upload, and my favorite of all Christian Songs is "Mighty To Save". I used to sing this song all the time in choir last year and when it was time for me and my colleague Job to leave the choir (after finishing 2 years) our parish priest, a Cebuano named Fr. Ranulfo Gunido, later mentioned to me how he missed us and our singing of the song. No one picked it up after we left, tho, I did request a friend, Albert, to sing the song from time to time iwth the current choir.

The choir that we had was a small choir that was started by Job and I. Originally we were the 2-man choir. Job and his guiltar and I with my voice (average ra lang). Momentum picked up as we advocated for more volunteers in our medical school and at the local parish. Strength grew to about 6-8 members. Thanks be to God, who hears the needs of the Church.

I love that song. "Mighty To Save."

When I hear that song. I break into song, and cannot help the tears from rolling down my face. With inexplainable joy.

God Bless You Father.
In mind and Body, may our Heavenly Father continue to give you and pour into you strength and power.
Jesus Is Our Strength.
