Bible Study / Re: Giving Thanks to the LORD
April 30, 2010, 08:46:25 AM
"Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations."

Psalm 100

Diviners see visions that lie; they tell dreams that are false, they give comfort in vain. Therefore the people wander like sheep oppressed for lack of a shepherd

(Zechariah 10:2).

All the counsel you have received has only worn you out! Let your astrologers come forward, those stargazers who make predictions month by month, let them save you from what is coming upon you. Surely they are like stubble; the fire will burn them up. They cannot even save themselves from the power of the flame. Here are no coals to warm anyone; here is no fire to sit by. That is all they can do for youâ€"these you have labored with and trafficked with since childhood. Each of them goes on in his error; there is not one that can save you

(Isaiah 47:13-15).

Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am against your magic charms with which you ensnare people like birds and I will tear them from your arms; I will set free the people that you ensnare like birds
(Ezekiel 13:20).
#32105
Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God (Leviticus 19:31).

I will set my face against the person who turns to mediums and spiritists to prostitute himself by following them, and I will cut him off from his people (Leviticus 20:6).

When men tell you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living? (Isaiah 8:19).

I came to a point where helping others motivate me. I am conceptualizing "Rescure the Children Foundation", modesty speaking but, I need to make my barangay as my pilot project. As always they called me " a golden heart", but again, life is short, we might as well do something to make a difference.

I WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE... that motivates me in everything I do.

God Bless Your plans and your project, Wolf!

Reading your post is inspirational, in itself!

Philippine Provinces / Re: Welcome to Dipolog City
April 30, 2010, 02:15:55 AM
I have never been to Dipolog, however, I would like to someday visit some of the major cities in Northern Mindanao.

I have relatives in Surigao City, Surigao as well as in Cagayan De Oro. There is a town in around Dipolog that speaks in Bolan-on diction. I forget the name; but the town was settled by people from southern Bohol and Southern Negros during the 15th century.

Jagna is known for its beautiful Kalamay! I remember when I was in Philippines in 1995, my father and I drove to neighbouring Jagna to buy their famous Kalamay.

Cracked it open, and with a spoon, graced on its ethereal sweatness, aided with a nice glass of coke.

That is my memory of Jagna.

Poems and Poets / When we wake
April 30, 2010, 02:07:01 AM
Why is it that when you wake,
so do i?
I cannot sleep when you cannot sleep,
I complete your sentences as you complete mine,
Do you believe in halves?
For surely i do.

3:347 am, Elysium was played in my ear,
so was it in yours,
sleep tight, darling one,

Loyalty abounds.

Poems and Poets / This sorted pen
April 30, 2010, 02:05:13 AM
Till the dead of night
it writes, it sorts out notes,
sketching, writing, never ending.

Till ink runs out, this sorted pen.
Where can i find such loyalty
such as this sorted pen,
working till every being, every drop of ink perishes away
to the letter, to the journal, to the sticky notes,
ah, such loyalty
there is none like it

But which is my favorite?
Red
Blue
or Black

Such loyalty.
This sorted pen.

This is a topic of debate in the medical field as well.

Euthanasia is illegal in medicine. Any physician caught in the practice of euthanizing his patients is liable to loosing his medical license and federal prosecution.

As a medical intern, i will tell you that here in the United States, euthanasia is banned and illegal. Any acts by physicians with a propensity towards euthanasia will result in judicial ramifications, ergo, in the case of Dr. Kevorkian .

lol, sadako! Ah mao ba, pero kuyaw bitaw no that there are still pianos out there that are from the 1800s and still work.

We have a vintage Braums Piano from Germany, i think it was built in the 1880s, still works like new tho. It's like a cute momento to the past. Its amazing sometimes when i hear my little brothers play the piano in our living room. I sit in the couch with my glass of Chenin Blanc and listen to them play. Close my eyes and let my thoughts come to my mind, and at the same time, am amazed that this same piano inspired and brought music to the ears of many a generation before ours.

In regards to horror movies, have you watched Shutter Island?

I know last time we went antiquing, looking for old bracelets (she loves bracelets), and found one for her, a really cute 1920s one. It had bright blue saphire stones (her birth stone). ka cute kaayo. She loves old antique books; esp. those of W.M Thackeray, or old prints of Jane Austin books.

Next time you play the rosewood piano, play it at night time when he is going to bed. See his reaction. lol

During our annual medical health drive, i was partnered with my babycakes in the vitals group.

I was treating 2 patients when I saw that my baby was checking a pediatric patient. The kid was talking to her and pulling on her white coat, and the two were laughing. I smirked a smile. She's so good with kids, and quick in her diagnosing.

Mao ni ang meaning sa "jackpot".
Medical student, faithful, loyal, family oriented, isug, and loves kids.

Sus. I feel blessed to have her in my life. God is so kind to me.

Samokan man ko ug akong kuyogon.

hahaha, how cute! ako i love the company of my baby, i love how she puts her arms around my arms when we go tot he mall, i love how she brings me to gap, armani express, express, etc and have me try out different shirts. Never really had a lover who was so very into me and generally cared for me; like i don't have to try so much with her. In that sense i am very lucky to have her in my life; as she is lucky to have me (hahaha!)

I love how she loves going to antique shops, and i love looking at old antiques with her. Hours into the 'antiqueing' she will say to me, "Baby, are you sure you're not tired? " Mo gaze lang ko niya.

There is a saying i refer to her; i love her completely. She is imperfectly perfect. In that sense.

Hahaha! how cute, Aly! I didnt' start dancing professionally till college where i was active in the collegiate swing dance society. I loved it; every friday we had meetings from 5 till 12 midnight and just get in the dance floor, and pick a woman and just dance. Usually there were more women than guys, so finding a partner was perfect, as they were all receptive. haha. In fact, many of my gf's in college, i met in the swing dance.

It definitely added some 'umft' to the relationship, you know.

The sexy moves in salsa and the quick movement of swing used to drive me insane. I would wait every friday afternoon for classes to end, so i could run to my dorm, dress up, and then move on to the dance floor~~

Fun times.

I was studying for my final exams last year, studied nonestop; my exam was at 8:00am. I was awakened at 6:30 am in the morning when she brewed me folgers coffee. "Wake up, gangsta, you gotz exams, yo!" in our gangsta' lingo haha.
I woke up, drank my coffee and prepped up.

I fell in love with her when I was showing the students (1st years) how to perform :
1. blunt dissection
2. exploratory dissection

After showing, i asked if they would like try it? She was the first one to come forward, with her surgical mask on and her goggles, she opened her surgical kit, took out a 3/4 inch scalpel, and using perfect handmotion, used the tip to open the anterior thoracic cavity, then switched it, and utilized the exact blunt dissection maneuver that i provided...thereby exposing the superficial fascia from the adipose tissue.

I smiled, then she took out her mask and whispered, "Did i do it right?"

I could not answer. Hahaha.

Perfect.

I turned around, with my hands behind my back and flapped my white coat. Hiding the smile that I had on my face. She followed......~

I've heard that biologically, men are not intended to be monogamous. A man's equipment is slightly bigger than his monogamous cousin the Gorilla and slightly smaller than the promiscuous Chimpanzee, relative to their size of course.

I honestly believe that we should live and let live, what works for me and my "bitter" half (LOL) is that I am the one, the only and that will stay that way for as long as we both shall live.

The problem with solely relying on customs and traditions is that abuse tend to occur quite frequently. For example, while those people in the cult here in Texas believe that its OK to marry your 12 yo daughter to a 40yo man and have her become a mother at 13, In both US and Philippines, this is pedophilia ! For Bedouin men who consider their prized possessions as their sword, their steed and their wife in that order...well he considers her a possession and therefore treats her  as such. Gives her a good beating when needed and uses her when he pleases. :-[

I think legally its very tricky, but if the population of a certain place merits that a law making a polygamous union be legalized, then it should be legalized out of necessity. That will leave less people in the gray areas of the legal system. But if the general populace does not require it, or it does not serve any widespread purpose, then why spend the time, money and energy to legalize it.

They can always flee to the jungle...or build their own compounds and become autonomous  8)

LoL! And then that little 'autonomous' land became a Federal State known as Utah.

The Ottoman Empire shaped the history of Europe through the strong religious and social impacts it had on the population.

That is true, the Ottoman Turks forwarded Islam throughout the borders and boundaries of the Old Caliphate. The Ottoman Turks, who were originally asiatic peoples that were introduced to islam by the Arabic Caliphate, eventually usurped the power from the Caliphate and subdued it. The Ottoman Empire silenced the last remnant of the beating heart of Rome~ The Byzantine Empire. In 1453, the Ottoman Turks sieged and overtook the city of Constantinople, capital of the once mighty Byzantine Empire (Eastern Roman Empire).

After the fall of Byzantium (Constantinople), the Ottoman Turks sieged and held Europe under its throat for almost 5 centuries.

The Turks were renowned for their brilliant military prowess.

I think its a toss between the Mayans and the Minoans. From my history channel addiction, both civilizations were far advanced for their time. They had gadgets and tools that baffle scientists to this day. The Minoans had indoor plumbing, mind you and the Mayans had built their temple complex just like the Pleiades's constellation.

hmmmm... but I guess the Romans really contributed the most to human history and knowledge that we can appreciate today. Aqueducts, coliseums, architecture, Even the word "fornicate" was derived from an arch in the public coliseums and everybody still knows what the hell a roman bath is.

We also could not discount the persians...after all, during the middle ages, didn't they carry the torch of knowledge..and don't we still use the hindu-arabic numeral system ?

What about the Chinese ? acupuncture is still being practiced until today, 3,000 years later. The ancient alphabet that would require you to know at least 20,000 characters to be able to read the newspaper...or the fighting skills in human combat that has the world over in a frenzy.

Its hard to pick...Academically speaking, I gotta hand it to the Chinese, they're still alive and kicking...and is a rising super power in the world. (Needless to say Egypt, Rome or Peru is not)

in my heart, I would pick the Minoans...darn, if they had indoor plumbing 3,000 years ago, imagine, had they survived the Santorini eruption, they might've been designing hot dog carts in the moon by now.  8)

I will give credence to the ancient mesoamerican civilizations of the Tlaxlaca (Azteca), as well as to the Inca for implementing craniotomy procedures during the age of pre-anesthesia. Their mastery of the constellations is definitely commendable. As well as implementing a roadway system for forwarding messages throughout their empire (quite similar to the Persian Pony Express).

But in my personal opinion, the greatest and most pivotal empire would have to be the Roman Empire.
Rome civilized the barbarium of europe, and brought order, a sense of unity, a common language (latin, from which would sprout the romance languages: italian, spanish, portuguese, french, romanian), proliferated the concept of democratic right, the concept of the republic, medicinal practices, military regimen, order, and the concept of the province within the imperial political system, the concept of the SPQR (senatus populae quae romanum): in that the power of government emanates from the people, and that the emperor is the sole living body from which all comes forth.

The Roman Empire continues to live today. The concepts that Rome invented lives on~ the republican form of government, the senates of governments, religion (they proliferated christianity as the state religion starting in the reign of Constantine the Great) etc.

Given, i do respect the Chinese. Theirs is the oldest society, and a uniform race. The Han Ethnic Group.

this may sound weird, but i am really fascinated with these polygamous groups since their beliefs are totally the opposite with what i believe in.. with regards to Muslims, marrying more than one is not new to me since i have relatives practicing this.....

The ancient Hindus used to practice polygamy, considering one of their gods, Vishnu, had over 1,100 wives in his kingdom; the practice of polygamy was also implemented by the deva rajas (godkings) in the ancient hindu lores.

But in regards to the mormons, in the book of mormon, it is prerequisite that a man marry more than one wife; as it guarantees his status in a higher plane of heaven. Interesting, tho.

How beautiful to read your motivations in life! Beautiful!

In college, I took a class in Islam 1 &2 (2 semesters worth in studying the Q'uran); it was part of a religious studies minor that I had, and my professor Dr. Suleiman and I would talk about some of the interpretations of some of the Surrahs. IN regards to marrying more than one wife, the prophet Muhammad said that marrying more than one wife was possible only if all the wives were treated equal. Since it is impossible to treat all the wives equal, marrying more than one wife was antagonized.

It is important to know the historiography of the middle east to understand the implementation of this sunnah and its mentioning in the hadiths.

One, prior to the emergence of Christianity and Islam, the people in Arabia practiced polygamy, the implemention of this rule where one (the husband) has to treat each wife equally was a means to control and curve the high level of polygamy in that region. The practice of more than one wife, was usually seen in the courts of the Caliphs, the Sheiks; and in later times, the royal houses of Saud and other royal houses in the middle east. Most famous was Sultan Suleiman II the Magnificent of the Ottoman Empire, who was reknowned for more than a hundred wives and over 1000 harems.

The new policies of the future administration in Valencias should focus on both:
1. Economic Development
2. Infrastructure Development

In regards to infrastructure, development of scholarship grants should be given at least. For those who are unable to pay collegiate expenses (but are blessed with intelligence). Even if funding 2-5 students to college via grants, that is still a project to be proud about as it will bring some kind of moral legitimacy to the administration in power. (or strengthen their moral legitimacy as it stands).

Libraries should be up to date; with new computers, new books.

Financial ruin comes and goes; but the academic success of our youth is something that cannot be taken away, save God's Call.

Focus on the education of the youth of Valencia.

I was a 2nd year medical student, and the newly appointed Anatomy Lab TA, i was suited in my scrubs and ready to lead the students (1st years) to the lab and i was openly introducing myself and encouraging students about the lab and 'prepping' them to see actual human bodies.

I saw her from a distance, i knew at first that she was Filipina. Guapa kaayo, guapang mestiza. he he he.
My eyes met hers, her eyes met mine. I introduced myself; she had a firm handshake. Her smile captivated me.

We both were wearing green scrubs. Green clogs. And green surgical masks. hehe. Serendipity.

o really? daghan jud bol-anon sa among probinsya! mao bitaw na nga i really have a heart of Bol-anon kay i grew up with so many of them.

Thanks for this info Lorz.

Also, Mindanao is considered the 'Land of Promise'. There is much riches and fortune to be made in Mindanao; plus a larger market base. Many Bolanons went off to find a better future in Northern Mindanao. During World War II, many Bolanons and Siquijorenos moved to major cities in Mindanao: Dipolog, Davao, General Santos, Cagayan De Oro, Surigao City etc, to escape the war.

One very famous Bolanon, Dr. Ting Tiongco is a product of the Bol-anon Diaspora to Davao, Mindanao.

Yes. There were alot of inter-island exchanges even before the Spanish came. The most extensive exchange of diction in the Visayan region was when the Spaniards developed what is now present day Davao and General Santos.
The Spanish settlers brought with them Christianized Ilonggos and Cebuanos to those regions. Cebuano and Ilonggo pockets are very pronounced in Davao Region.

If one reads the Q'uran and literally takes the words of Muhammad, it explicitly states that a man can marry more than once, so long as that he treats them equally; if he can do this then he can do so, but if he cannot treat them all equally, then it is not permitted. Therefore, the underlying message is that marrying more than one wife will form some kind of bias, and equal treatment of all wives is impossible, therefore, should be avoided. However, literal readeres of the Q'uran do not read the message "in between the lines."

Secondly, the husband has to ask permission from the first wife to be allowed to marry the second wife, etc. If the former does not agree, then the husband cannot marry.

Cases of the Sheiks and the Caliphs taking hundreds of wives and thousands of harlems are living antithesis and hypocrisy to the words written in their Q'uran.

Those who do marry more than one in Islam do not take into consideration the sunnahs and the hadiths.
~~

In Judaism and in Christianity, polygamy is forbidden.

Dipolog City and Relations to Bohol:

During the 15th century, waves of settlers from present day Negros and Bohol migrated and settled in Northern Mindanao, throughout Zamboanga Del Norte, and in Cagayan De Oro Regional Valley. The Bolanons and the Negrosianos pushed inland due to the Chinese pirates that harassed their settlements; and mingled with the local populations. The language and tonation is similar in Northern Mindanao to that used in Bohol and Negros.

Jun,
How are the outreach programs in Valencia? Are there town-held scholarships for students of strong caliber in supporting their collegiate expenses? There are many young bright minds in Valencia who do not have the financial means to support their college expenses. I believe that the new administration should strive to support and help those in need, when it comes to academic prerogatives. This should be an overall bipartisan policy. We are Valencianons and our loyalties should not be to particular families or to political parties, but overall, and deep down inside, the driving push for any political agenda should be the overall growth and benefit of the entire Town of Valencia. The future of Valencia is in the Youth of Valencia, their academic and professional success is the success for all of Valencia. Period.

Hello, Salute, it's me, your Duke
And I made something that's real
To show you how I feel

Hello, Hello, it's me Picasso
I will paint my words of love
With your name on every wall

When you leave my colors fade to gray
Whoa I whoa I aaa
Whoa I whoa I whoa I aaa
Every word of love I used to say

Now I paint it everyday

I sold my strings, my songs, and dreams
And I bought some paints to match the colors of my love
Hello, Hello, it's me again, Picasso
I will spray my words of my love
With your name on every wall

When you leave my colors fade to gray
Whoa I whoa I aaa
Whoa I whoa I whoa I aaa
Every word of love I used to say
Now I paint it everyday

When you leave my colors fade to gray
Hey, little lover stay
Or all my colors fade away
Every word of love I used to say
Now I paint it everyday

Goals of the Olegario Group:

· To promote a sustained education among the electorates, build a strong foundation of democracy and to firmly established the basic of democratic governance for its leaders and its constituents to internalize the sense of duty and responsibility.

To anakbukid and to palupalu, thank you two for telling us about the incidents of oppositional reprimanding. When I first heard about incidents such as this in our annual Valencianon Association of The East Coast of the United States, I was flabbergasted from hearing both sides. I did not expect nor did I ever know that such cases were occuring, but hearing more details is rather disheartening.

All I ask and would like to stress is that whoever wins the election, that the winning side not extoll revenge or reprimand those who were in the opposition.

We are living in a democratic society; the winner, whose powers come and emanate from the people; because they were chosen amongst the people, to be the voice and representatives of the people; must NOT in ANY WAY reprimand and deny the people's rights and liberties or any services duly needed. Even if it is providing water, and electric power.

Such actions and such partiality is not something to be tolerated whatsoever.

Thank You.
