The abnormal weather condition we experienced nowadys is the effect of global warming. It is very sunny in the morning and it heavily rain in the afternoon. It is rainy days during the early part of April  which is still summer time.

Let us keep abreast with the changing weather condition day to day. Bring coat or umbrella. Wear sunglass, hat or white -thin jacket to protect extreme heat if you stay outdoor.

Ang paggamit sa 'j' kanunay gigamit sa informal speaking or chatting especially the  old folks. Kon ang usa ka Bol-anon mosulti sa stage o sa mga formal program, mawala man ang 'j' diction.

Ang 'j'  diction is the identity of the Bololano. When  i first arrived in Davao in 1966 , ila akong ujat-ujaton  ug "sano". "Bol-anon diay ka sano."

Kon ang mga kauban ko mga Davawenyo, I speak pure Cebuano Visayan, pero kon mga Bol-anon, mag Binol-anon me.

#3119

Jesus Christ baptism at Jordan river.

Bible Study / Re: Discussion On Baptism

Baptism - What the Bible says:

Believer's Baptism is an act of obedience that follows conversion to portray symbolically the washing away of our sins. Water baptism calls for immersion instead of sprinkling.

Many groups that have only sprinkled in times past are now seeing that the Scriptural method is total immersion in water. In fact, the Greek word "baptizo" means to immerse, submerse and emerge.

CHRIST'S BAPTISM
Jesus Christ was baptised (ie fully emersed) in the river Jordan. Clearly it was a very important step for Christ and is documented in the 4 gospels.

Mark 1: v 9-10
"At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptised by John in the Jordan.
As Jesus was coming out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased."

BAPTISM - CHRIST'S INSTRUCTION
Matthew 28:18-20
Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen

This commission is given to the disciples but has ongoing relevance to Christian Leaders (present and future) of the Christian Church through the centuries. This verse is a clear basis for the need for Missionary work and the baptism of believers.

BAPTISM - NEW TESTAMENT PRACTICE
Records of baptisms in the New Testament confirm this meaning.
Matthew 3: v 6
John baptised believers "Confessing their sins, they were baptised by him in the Jordan River."

Mark 1: v 4 - 5.
"And so John came, baptising in the desert region and preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins." The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing their sins, they were baptised by him in the Jordan River."

Acts 8: v 26 - 40
Here Luke describes the baptism of the Ethiopian
35 Then Philip began with the very passage of scripture and told him the good news about Jesus.
36 As they travelled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, "Look, here is water; Why shouldn't I be baptised?
37 Phillip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." The eunuch answered, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."
38 And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down both into the water, and Phillip baptised him.
39 When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Phillip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing.

Here Phillip preached Jesus and baptism. The Eunuch received Jesus and was baptised in obedience to God's Word after he was "born again." From these verses we can see the importance of Baptism. They both went down into the water so Baptism means emersion NOT sprinkling. Baptism is in obedience to God's Word, and by it we identify ourselves with Christ's death, burial, and resurrection.

BAPTISM and SALVATION

The baptism itself does not bring salvation; salvation inspires the practice of baptism. It should be considered as the first thing we do after we are "born again." Those who have received Jesus Christ in their hearts should desire to follow Jesus Christ in this sacrament. Jesus Himself came to John the Baptist to receive His baptism because He was to take the sins of the world at His death. These sins would be washed away by God for those people who put their trust in Him.

John 1: v29-31.
"The next day John saw Jesus coming towards and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! This is the one I meant when I said, "A man who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me." I myself did not know him, but the reason I came baptising with water was that he might be revealed to Israel."

There is no such infant baptism in the Bible. It is emersion not sprinkling on the forehead. A person to be baptized is a believer.

Let us follow the biblical teaching of baptism, not on man-made doctrine.

As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

American Standard Version
as it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one;

Douay-Rheims Bible
As it is written: There is not any man just.

Based on the verses above, there is no righteous man. THere is no righteous religion.

HOW DO YOU BECOME RIGHTEOUS
Greetings my friends, today we turned to Philipians 3:1-21.

1. From verse 1-6, The Apostle Paul confronts the teachings of legalistic Jews in the Church at Philipi. The teaching of these Jews was that the believers were not adequately cleansed from their sins, unless they were circumcised.

Even today there are believers who are taught similarly to observe certain do's and donts inorder to obtain their salvation. There are many places of worship that observe strict dress codes, and hair codes, hag codes etc, Woe unto us for our own righteousness is like filthy rags, it is inadequate to save us,Isaiah 64:4-9. The Apostle Paul is not against the law, but rather that the law is fullfilled through placing faith in Jesus. Ephesians 2:8, " For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and it is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast."

So what Paul affirms here is that righteousness is a gift from God.
Most believers who understand this truth are living victorious and joyous lives in the Lord, those who dont are judgemental, canternkrous and miserable in their lives because no matter what they do it never quite measures up . I pray that we are delievered from legalism to appreciate Gods grace.

2. Verse 7-11Shows as the process by which we become righteous,
(a) Verse 7-8, Forget the past, dont dwell on your past sins, defeats, pains, the promise of God in 1 John 1:9, if we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgives can not be overturned. 2Cor 5:17, if anyone is in Christ Jesus they are a new creature, the old has passed away, believe it and receive it.

(b) Verse 9, change where you have placed your focus and place it on Jesus, become Christ centered. Compare and contrast the benefit of being in Jesus and the benefit of living in in sin. To be spiritually minded Christ focused is life and peace Romans 8:6.

(c) Verse 10. Develop a great desire, hunger and thirst to know Jesus
by obeying His commands, and doing his will and talking to Him in prayer.John 14:15, Mk 16:15.

3. Verse 12-14, points to us a way by which we become victorious,
(a) verse 12, Although the Apostle Paul is a great man of God with many gifts and the wonder working power of God in his life, Paul observes that in order for him to have victory he observes a golden rule that is humility,
" Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect."

The saying are we there yet for Paul is I am not there yet. Today there are many puffed up beleievers who think that they have a geat deal of christian experience and there is nothing else they need, it does not take long before they fall from grace, some are ministers of the Gospel and have fallen from grace because of this attitude.

Our attitude should always be we are still purifying ourselves even as we are pure, for God resisteth the proud and giveth grace to the humble, 2Chronicles 7:14, makes it clear that even nations fail because of this attitude of self-sufficiency.

(b) To live victorious, Paul reminds us in verse 12b, but I press on to take hold of that which Christ Jesus took hold of me. The second principle here is NEVER GIVE UP. be faithful to the Lord always, Gal 6:9, reminds us that we shall reap if we are patient and do not backslide back into our old ways of sin. The story of the testing of faith of Job should encourage us that God is sovereign even when the going is tough.

(c) Pursue your goal passionately, We are not there yet, but we press on towards the mark that has been set for us in Jesus Christ.

4. Verse 18-21. Has some very painful remarks, here Paul observes that there are those in the body of Jesus Christ who abuse the Gospel the message of the cross for their on gains, they are greedy, malicious, envious , their minds are not set on Christ but on earthly things, they bring disrepute to the Gospel and cause many unbelievers to find offence in the Gospel. Jesus was very stu about such people as well in Math 18:6, he prefered that such people , a stone were hang around their neck and they be dumped into the sea.

The true believer should always be aware of these kinds of people, for we shall know them by their fruits and steer clear of them. Math 7:16.

Garcia: Send Con-ass reso to Senate, pronto!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MANILA - In a move that surprised his fellow administration allies, Cebu Rep. Pablo Garcia on Tuesday moved to transmit to the Senate controversial House Resolution 1109 (HR 1109) convening Congress into a Constituent assembly (Con-ass) that would amend the Constitution.

However, the motion was later deferred.

During the interpellation following his privilege speech, Garcia, one of the sponsors of the measure, agreed with fellow Cebu Rep. Antonio Cuenco, that the House of Represenatives needs more time to "think about it."

It is not clear when the House plenary will take up HR 1109 again.

Lamenting negative reactions to the charter change measure, Garcia originally wanted the plenary to send HR 1109 to the Senate on the same night on Tuesday after plenary approval.

"Let us put an end to this controversy. The sooner we can put it behind us, the better. Enough is enough. The question is how? Mr. Speaker, there is only one way to do it. And that is by taking some bold positive and decisive action now. Tonight," Garcia said in the first privilege speech delivered since the resumption of session on Monday.

"It is order and imperative that HR 1109 be transmitted to the Senate for its concurrence or for whatever action they deem appropriate. I so move," Garcia said at the end of his speech.

Killing Cha-cha?

Cavite Rep. Elpidio Barzaga Jr., a co-sponsor of HR 1109, said Garcia's motion is "practically" a move to kill the charter change resolution.

"Definitely, there will be no action from the Senate," he said. (Read: 'Con-ass dead without Senate' - UP law professors  )

Barzaga said Garcia's motion, if approved, will also bar the Supreme Court from deciding on an expected case on whether joint voting is the proper way to convene a Constituent assembly.

"If it is transmittal, it is implied that it needs to be acted upon separately by the Senate. It would be an implied admission that the House of Representatives, even if they have the numbers, cannot constitute itself as a Constituent assembly without the participation of three-fourths members of the Senate," he said.

"The trouble is that if one of the primary reasons for the passage of
1109 was to create a justiciable controversy, then we have to address the issue of voting jointly. If it's voting separately, there will no longer be any question before the SC. Nobody will question," he added.

Barzaga said he will vote against Garcia's motion. He said the proper action should not be to transmit HR 1109 to the Senate, but to "invite" senators to the convening of a Constituent assembly.

"My vote is that we should invite the Senate to the Constitutent assembly in as much as they are members of Congress," Barzaga said.

"The invitation can be made verbally but prudence dictates that it should be in writing. In so far as I'm concerned, we have to send invitation to the Senate that a resolution has been passed by the House and they are invited--considering, of course, the senator would ignore the invitation. But we are not actually excluding them, we are inviting them," he explained.

Home > Nation > Top Stories SONA 2009: Real-time reactions from cyberspace
ALAN ROBLES, GMANews.TV
07/27/2009 | 11:51 PM

   | | More
While her allies in the halls of Congress were applauding nearly every sentence, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's State of the Nation Address (SONA) was getting a different reaction from an invisible audience.

“Bbbooo!" said one audience member. “Oh come on," said another. Neither was ejected. They couldn’t be -- they weren’t in the august chamber. They were posting their reactions in cyberspace.

For the first time in the Philippines, GMANews.tv married a live stream of the speech with Facebook Connect, a service of the popular Web 2.0 service that allows any number of users to comment about a single topic. The combination allowed site visitors to simultaneously watch the speech and post their reactions via their Facebook (FB) status updates. The interactivity feature was first used to wide acclaim by CNN.com during the Obama inauguration last January.

Barely had President Arroyo started talking when the comments started pouring in: dozens of Facebook users posted updates so swiftly that they turned into a running commentary.

Many of the remarks, written in short-hand English and Filipino that wasn’t always grammatical, were testy and sarcastic. A few complimented her fuschia pink terno by Inno Soto.

Reacting to the President’s recital of her achievements, one visitor said: “Totohanin mo na sana yan, ilang beses ka na nagsisinungaling sa bayan?" (If only you could actually make that come true, how many times have you lied to the nation?)

“Hello Garci, ‘di ka ata kasama," wrote another visitor, referring to the 2004 scandal where President Arroyo allegedly colluded with an election commissioner to fix the votes.

Yet another dismissed the speech: “Wala naman kwenta tulad ng dati." (Worthless, just like the others before)

“GMA is bragging on the things that she has done for the Filipino people," reminded one user, adding “did she forget that is indeed her responsibility?"

The remarks streamed swiftly across the small window: “She is shameless;" “Nakakatawa siya, ‘no" (she's funny, isn't she).

When Mrs. Arroyo started to belittle her critics and political foes, there were pointed responses. Marvic Leonen, dean of the UP College of Law, said: “State of the Nation Address should be a time to tell our societies what the Office of the President sees as our collective challenge and a call for support. It should not be an occasion to divide further. This is not a boxing match."

Another user invited everyone “to compare this woman to Governor Grace (Padaca) who quietly and firmly puts violators of the law in their place and merely says she is just enforcing the law. This woman can't even follow it!"

Occasionally, some FB users expressed support for Mrs. Arroyo, the most unpopular president the country has had since 1986.

“Wag natin tingnan ang negatibo... makinig muna bago komento," (Let's not look at the negative, listen first before commenting), someone cautioned.

“I love my nation. I thank God that we have a great and brilliant president," asserted another user.

“That was really a FIERCE and BRAVE SONA," said a partisan someone.

When the speech ended, there was no lack of posters trying to evaluate it. Tony La Viña, dean of the Ateneo School of Government, said: “Overall, a defensive speech, a speech about the past, not the future. Next year, maybe we will be inspired."

Another poster said: “I wasted my time watching this SONA... Campaign Speech lang naman lahat. For the last time bagsak pa rin ang grade mo PGMA."

One FB user said: “Dapat i-congratulate... hirap nung ginawang rehearsal nun." (She should be congratulated, it must have been hard rehearsing that speech) -  Photo iGMA.tv | GMA Pinoy TV | Qtv

Give your opinions and reaction of the latest SONA.:

For me, it was the best SONA, she ever had.
For projects and accomplishments, 60% accurate and achieved.
She said. " this is the last time that i will step on this stage but not as presidency..
She will step next time when she will be a prime minister, next year.
CON ASS will go on to change  from presidential to parliamentary.

I do believe that abortion to some is 'mercy killing". Nakita sa inahan nga lisod niya mapadako ang bata tungod kay walay amahan.

Maayo pa lang nga kutloon ang ilang kinabuhi mintras embryo pa. Dili sakit kaayo.

Tingali mao ne ang hunahuna sa ubang abortionist.

Unsang tribu sa kalibutan nga way gasto kon mamatay.
