Bohol Against Charter Change
« on: June 15, 2009, 09:54:31 PM »
By the Bohol Chronicle

A multi-sectoral group formed the Boholanos Against Constituent Assembly (BACONAS) to seal a concerted effort to oppose the passage of House Resolution 1109 which, if approved will allow the convening of a constituent assembly.

Msgr. Junix Nalzaro and Atty. Raul Barbarona were elected as interim chairman and co-chairman of the group during a well-attended organizational meeting held at the Sayas Restaurant last Tuesday.

The group scheduled a series of meetings to formulate its activities with Boy Angcog, head of the secretariat.

BACONAS will come with a manifesto articulating its objection of the passage of HB 1109 which will legitimize the convening of the constituent assembly.

The group will be guided on a five basic principle in drafting its manifesto: to condemn the act of Congress in proposing HB 1109, stating the reasons why convening such assembly to ratify the Constitution is strongly deplorable in this point in time, denouncing and exposing the continued attempt of Pres. Arroyo to perpetuate power, the stand favoring charter amendments as long as it will be done after the 2010 elections.

The manifesto will also appeal to Boholanos to support BACONAS in all its succeeding activities and public pronouncements.

Among the political figures who showed up during Tuesday's organizational meeting were former CONCON delegate Chito Castillo, former Gov. Rene Relampagos, Prov'l BM Yul Lopez, former Prov'l BM Freda Tirol and City Kagawad Mariquit Oppus.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

the most concrete way to show indignation for the passage of HB 1109 and to get the message across to malacanang and their cohorts in congress that boholanos are against con ass is simply to JUNK all administration candidates in the 2010 elections.

CON ASS will possibly happen. After the SONA of Madame Aroyo, CON ASS will start.
THere is no more obstacles. SEnators will surely walk-out.  THe main purpose is to change the system to parliamentary.

If there is election in 2010, it will be the  local.

This is my own perception.

Yes!!!

I am for Charter Change!

I would love to buy land  with out having to marry to own property.

I would like for permanent residents (Foreigners) to be allowed to carrry a gun for protection here.

Many things need to change and a welfare system in where single parents are helped financially.

Pressy, you are no foreigner, but a Boholana. Your deeds speaks for itself and you even spent more time in Bohol than I do.

What is dangerous here are big corporations buying Lands; thus displacing huge crowd and then they will put in their gate "No Tresspassing". Its a big insult that Filipinos can no longer roam around in thier own land. If that happens, beaches will be closed, farmers will no longer have rights. The country will be mandated by big foreign corporations and we who lack capitals will simply be outnumbered and I'm afraid become slaves inside our own nation.

It is ignoring the blood of our heroes who set us free from colonial hands.

Mackey I hear you but the blood of your heroes is not putting food on the tables and providing jobs right now is it?

Philippines needs to get out and be with the rest of the world this country is no better or worse then those countries who have taken chances.

What capitol? I see many Philippines persons borrowing  anything from monies to expensive things all the while they are using a Guchi purse and wearing gold around they're necks and fingers.

I have had to two text messages from foreigner friends that they both in one days time were asked money to borrow by 4 persons.

Who said your rights will be taken away or is that just a Filipino negative thinking?

I say let the foreigners in and let them create jobs. Do you think that people living in America have rights to all the property and land?

No we do not and do you see us whining about no trespassing?

Tell me about no trespassing on the beaches I find it rather disgusting to be walking along the shores to find a crapped in diaper laying near to the surf.

Mackey it time for the Philippine people to take chances for becoming better you do not know what will happen unless you do not learn from your new trialed accidents.

Mackey one more thing.....

I do not see those Filipino OFWs complainingabout those things you mentioned when abroad in other countries?

Why do you think they are working there to begin with? It is because of the big companies and private companies providing those many good paying jobs that are not happening here!

Seems like this is another scenario of its not up to our standards to do that but we will allow it and replenish in it if it is not in our own back yard.

Farmers will always have jobs look at the machinery that has modernized farming in America. At present it is expensive here in the Philippines is not that not enough damage in its own people and mostley for those who are poor and trying to survive.

Sure Catholics are against abortion but to have one killed is cheap here.

To see a homeless needy sick child dressed to the bare rags is not against the Catholics Jeezes I get so confused here at times.

Gloria needs to end her term gracefully and things need to get done and I am talking a major house cleaning here.

Charter Change refers to poitical matters mainly in amending the 1987 constitution in the Philippines, this was an old issue that never materialize, during the Ramos regime way back the year 1992 until 1998 Tabaco propossed to change the constittution to parliamentary system, this was not materialized and again during the ERAP regime dating back June 1998 until January 2001 there was another attempt to change the 1987 constittuttion but due to vast objections coming from the various sectors in our society it was not materialized. The reasons behind on why they were pushing the change our constittution is to serve mainly in their personal interest.
After ERAP here comes GMA still dreaming to change our constitution and the reasons behind is more power to come, na hala asa man ta ani mudapig!

Hi Pressy,

You have a good point there and I respect your opinion.

Huge Multinational Companies are here decades ago, but did it make the Philippines richer? In 1974, I remembered the Dollar is 7 against the Peso. Now, with more international companies coming in, it is 45?

The only difference with charter change is they can legally own 100% of the property which they virtually own under fictitious names or under names of influential people.

If the present bulk of international companies could not solve our poverty, then what difference would it make if they own 100% of the property or land.

Companies comes here in the Philippines only for one thing, which is cheap labor.

Lets face the truth, Filipinos are not financially literate and we tend to be 1 day millionaires. Only very few are skilled to handle business and experienced to manage a big corporation. In a year, we will be outwitted by other nationalities and in the long run, majority will end up as PAs.

I have foreseen the negative effects of this change to be chaotic that another Robert Mugabe will rise from among us.

As one of the OFWs we endure the pains along our journey, but seeing our country dominated by foreign hands is unbearable.

So, if I am to decide, it is not worth the risk to play with chances if the effects are irreversible.

Pressy, I praise your optimism for positive change. However, with a corrupt administration, it will only fuel their lust.

So, let us first clean/arrange the house before fitting in new furnitures.

I understand and absolutely agree with you but I have never underpaid my help when I do have one.

I use to pay her 4thsnd per month she would come in two days a week and i know Filipina who have helpers here snap their fingers on demand towards the helper all the while when paying her under 2500 per month as live in.

Now who is paying who cheap here, those of us who have lived on both sides of the fence know what is the cost of true hard work.

So we sympathize for those who do work hard and are willing to compensate for what we know it is worth.

It is your country that pays cheap, It is your country that needs to stop it so that it will not allow the people who do corporate here to take advantage of the people here.

How do you value your fellow Filipino man when there are plenty working abroad now?

Mutana nga uy   (wake up Call)

So many professionals running away resources are down we need good people with hard working attitudes with a good head on their shoulders to come back and get back to the grass roots now that they have been living in a country that helps its people even in bad times and bring it home to work in the Philippines.

Some times life's chances can be scary but we must bite the food sometimes instead of sniffing it first.   LOL!

Mackey I love your positive way in handling my replies.

I also do not want to make you mad.

How do you think I feel I can not become dual citizen I am not allowed to vote in two countries but you people are allowed in America.

America has given plenty as well as other countries to help the Philippines out do not just take the hand outs alone adopt some of our good ways as well so more people can think ahead.

I do not find Filipino dumb or stupid, I do find them here as not thinking more forward then they really should be I find them often just thinking of the present time at hand.

i would also like to see Filipino thinking of actions and what would be the after affect of it after the action was taken.

Be prepared for cause affect if good or bad. Do not take things personally, do not get busy body attitude and get into business that does not concern you.

If you are really true persons in Gods eyes then why is there daghan "Crab mentality" here?

People under god should be appraising others who do well so it is encouraging.

concentrate more on yourselves learn from error not that error can be insulting make any issue into a positive if it is a negative.

Many here hate my advice they say "Your an American we are Filipino this is Philippines!"  Oh my goodness what attitude?

Then I say "Stop complaining do something about it if you do not like what you see!" then I hear "I am afraid to make action or say anything because I could be killed or hurt!"

People here are intimidated and to me that does not say much for the churches here when they should be teaching loving positive Catholic/Christian values. But on the other side of the churches walls is not always a christian/Catholic attitude that God wants us to have.

Oh it is as if go to church and people see me there and think what a good girl am i but once I am out of church I may be devious up to no damn good but that's okay i can repent my bad ass ways later at church.

No no no no people in church and out of church love your neighbor always.

I want to see more real attitudes and less superficial behaviors here.

i want to see people going forwards not backwards. Not much progress can be made in reverse can it now.

Mackey were you afraid to use a cellphone when it came out and look how damaging they can be.

Unfortunately friend not all lumps can be taken out of the cake batter always in our rocky road and cocky ways sort of life at times.

it is late and my thinking is getting fuzzed.

It is okay to test the waters Mackey friend we are all in this world together.

Bag.o x 100 million times!!!  ;)

Thanks again Pressy for the good thoughts. I say I agree with your facts. Everything you said is absolutely true. Reality hurts, but one must swallow the bitter pill to get cured.

Our society are full of people with crab mentality specially around the political arena. Instead of helping each other for progress, everything will go against each other like cats and dogs. What one say is wrong to the other even if it is right. They want to be served instead of serving. You can hardly find them when you need them, but during election they showed thier big smiles, big drama and big bucks.

Don't worry about me Pressy because I have sportsmanship not like our politicians who have this "I am always right" syndrome. That anything his oponent says is against him. They can not find anyone else to victimize but their co-countrymen.

Regarding the cheap labor, it is just a chain reaction of Poverty. If Companies who enjoy cheap labor in the Philippines, due to poverty, why should they be interested to make the Philippines rich when they will no longer enjoy cheap labor then.

I am also for change Pressy, but as I said, now is not the right time. Before you build a new house, you must make sure no pests are living around your land.

Perhaps I say many good people find it going overseas as a way to escape frustration & dismay. But I know they will come back soon.

In a corrupt world, there is no respect, no word of honor, no ethics. People who are in power is above the law and Regulations can be violated. I am sorry to say that at this point, selling lands to foreigners at 100% ownership is still the most dangerous option to solve poverty. It is like a single spark that could put the whole house ablaze.

Don't worry Pressy and just be patient. It is just a matter of time when Filipinos will say I am ready for globalization and lands can be sold to foreigners. Now is just not the ripe time. But I have faith in our few good who will someday prevail and restore ethics.

Once again Pressy, I enjoyed sharing thoughts with an intellectual like you. Peace and keep on.

Thanks Mackey,

I am smart but still learning day to day. I have  KBP license here the first foreigner here to pass the exam and get the license in Bohol.

I have great fun ideals for radio formatting and programs but do you think it is easy for me to have a rdio show here?

As if afraid of me as if I am a threat but really the programs would be for helping the community and bring togetherness in a positive way of life for everyone.

Just wish me luck in that department.

Mackey also Than You for everything.

Take care!

Good luck Pressy. No one is holding you back.

The key ingredient in journalism is determination, courage, influence, truth, independence and of course nasty sometimes, hehehe. To catch peoples attention, you have to be unique and innovative. I think you have these qualities Pressy.

To be successful you should not allow people to use your leverage for thier favor.

This game is not for one with cold feet.
