I can only speak for myself, Aduy.  I respect our National Anthem and it makes me cry most of the time I hear it.  And when it does, it means I feel it.  When Martin Nievera sang it, I felt his sincerity and his pride in singing our National Anthem, it made me cry and proud.  As to allegations that he did not sang it according to the provisions of so and so law, I can not for sure say that he did or he didn't.  All I know is that there were previous performers of our National Anthem who sang as good or as bad as Martin and yet there was no brouhaha caused by their respective versions of the National Anthem.  So what I am saying is that, if the NHI is really serious in protecting and preserving our National Anthem then they should have been more vigilant long time ago. Samok ra kaayo sila mura'g wa sila'y lingaw.

This song was written while driving on the way to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, one springtime day. The scenery was so beautiful and striking that it kept feeding thoughts in my mind. The mental phrase, "Look at the trees," just never left my mind even long after that leisurely drive. It got hooked on me and I to it.

The original material was actually recorded "live" at St. Rita's Church with the school children, then later on dubbed in additional sounds (i.e., pan flute, bass and additional guitars) in my studio to create more sonic atmosphere to the song in general.

grazie, laki na si ambeth ocampo... actually martin nievera's version of the lupang hinirang which was sung during the opening of the pacquio-hatton fight was much closer to julian felipe's arrangement compared with previous boxing match openings performed mostly by female singers the last one being karylle. for one thing, none of the ladies ever sang the national anthem with a martial tone. martin nievera-who happens to be one of my pet peeves-at least rendered his version with a martial tone around the middle of the song and as such, mas doul pas tinuod... it is kinda surprising why ambeth ocampo, in his capacity as NHI chair, made a statement about the way the national anthem was sung only now. could it be that martin nievera is also one of his pet peeves? :-)

I heard this news sa Nancy Grace.  I am so glad everything just went fine. Luoy kaayo pod ang mother kay mao tawon gi dakdanan.  Abtik lang jud kaayo ning bataa ni.  The MOm was talking to the phone for just 5 minutes then later realized the baby was not in the house anymore.  The frantic mother called 911 and the search started. 

I was hoping and praying that this kid would just be okay and it's an answered prayer.  nag worry ko kay diha ra ba jud daw daghan creek sa area nila.  Maayo gani wa sya layuga ug wild animals.  It's so nice to hear news like this with happy endings.  Thanks Lord for saving this baby!

Oh that's so sad, Father.  I remember adtong Saturday ning ingon tuod ka dire na molakaw sa ka kay mag Santacruzan.  Yes, that's what we can do, pray.  Late last year, a very close family friend also committed suicide.  She was only in high school and was so palangga kay youngest lagi.  Nah, nag bitay na lang sya bigla with no indication na naa sya'y problem.

My cousin also attempted to commit suicide kay nahibal-an na iyang gf naay laing bf.  Pastilan mga bataa gajud!

Chada na diay ang itsura sa atong pantalan sa Bohol.  Naa pa ba na mga kan-anan diha sa left side?  Naa pa ba tong tindahan ug mga pasalubong diha?

Just like anywhere, there's good and bad.  I can only tell basing on my association with Filipino Police officers that they are dedicated.  My sister is one.  She risked and is continuously risking her life to deserve the badge she is wearing.  She dreamed of becoming a police officer all her younger years and now she is one.  A proud one.

No matter what trials she went through in her life, she still believes that being a police officer is what she wants to do.  It's a profession and a vocation.  A calling, if I may say so. Six years ago, her husband, also a police officer (her classmate and buddy from way back college) was killed in the line of duty.  It was so sad for our whole family especially knowing that their 3 young children would never see their loving father anymore. It dampened my sister's spirit for awhile but never her desire to serve the police force.

I pray almost every minute of my waking hours that God will protect her always.
