Blessed be Your name
in the land that is plentiful
Where your streams of abundance flow
blessed be Your name

and blessed be Your name
when I'm found in the desert place
though i walk through the wilderness
blessed be Your name

every blesssing You pour out I'll turn back to praise
an when the darkness closes in Lord still i will say:
blessed be the name of the Lord
blessed be Your name
bleseed be the name of the Lord
blessed be Your glorious name

and blessed be your name
when the sun's shining down on me
when the world's "all as it should be"
blessed be your name

and blessed be your name
on the road marked with suffering
though there's pain in the offering
blessed be your name

every blesssing you pour out i'll turn back to praise
when the darkness closes in Lord still i will say:
blessed be the name of the Lord
blessed be your name
bleseed be the name of the Lord
blessed be your glorious name

you give and take away
you give and take away
my heart wil chose to say:
blessed be your name (blessed be your name lord)

Another version.

Draw Me Close To You with lyrics

Draw me close to you
Never let me go
I lay it all down again
To hear you say that I'm your friend
You are my desire
No one else will do
Cause nothing else can take your place
To feel the warmth of your embrace
Help me find the way
Bring me back to you

You're all I want
You're all I've ever needed
You're all I want
Help me know you are near

This is an amazing worship song!

Because the Father disciplines those whom He loves...

No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

Blue, is this edible? How does it taste like? I saw these kinds of sea urchins when I was scuba diving in Balicasag, as well as when I was deep-sea snorkeling in Leyte.

I knew people eat this stuff, but never really had the chance to personally try it myself. One would guess it would be difficult trying to get to the soft core inside.

Bambi, when i drove to Bilar, Carmen, Danao to Inabanga, to Alicia, to Ubay etc--I never had any problems with hold-uppers. On the contrary, the only thing i noticed were the fast San Pedro freight lines. The tricycles and the motorcycles that needed to be beeped because of their crazed driving skills. :P

And of course who could forget the sari sari stores that would have banners such as, "Load na Diri!", "Ari Diri!"

I personally talked to him and never saw the negative qualities that people associated him with nor was answered with indecency.

On the contrary, he's very inviting, open, and direct in his answers.

Inspiration & Hope / The Kingdom of Heaven
August 19, 2010, 08:49:22 PM
Jesus again in reply spoke to the chief priests and the elders of the people in parables saying,

“The Kingdom of heaven may be likened to a king
who gave a wedding feast for his son.
He dispatched his servants to summon the invited guests to the feast,
but they refused to come.
A second time he sent other servants, saying,
‘Tell those invited: “Behold, I have prepared my banquet,
my calves and fattened cattle are killed,
and everything is ready; come to the feast.”’
Some ignored the invitation and went away,
one to his farm, another to his business.
The rest laid hold of his servants,
mistreated them, and killed them.
The king was enraged and sent his troops,
destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.
Then the king said to his servants, ‘The feast is ready,
but those who were invited were not worthy to come.
Go out, therefore, into the main roads
and invite to the feast whomever you find.’
The servants went out into the streets
and gathered all they found, bad and good alike,
and the hall was filled with guests.
But when the king came in to meet the guests
he saw a man there not dressed in a wedding garment.
He said to him, ‘My friend, how is it
that you came in here without a wedding garment?’
But he was reduced to silence.
Then the king said to his attendants, ‘Bind his hands and feet,
and cast him into the darkness outside,
where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.’
Many are invited, but few are chosen.”

You spread out the skies over empty space
Said, let there be light
To a dark and formless world
Your light was born
You spread out your arms over empty hearts
Said, let there be light
To a dark and hopeless world
Your son was born

You made the world and saw that it was good
You sent your only son, for you are good

CHORUS
What a wonderful maker
What a wonderful savior
How majestic your whispers
And how humble your love
With a strength like no other
And the heart of a father
How majestic your whispers
What a wonderful God

No eye has fully seen how beautiful the cross
And we have only heard the faintest whispers
Of how great you are

You made the world and saw that it was good
You sent your only son, for you are good

What a wonderful maker
What a wonderful savior
How majestic your whispers
And how humble your love
With a strength like no other
And the heart of a father
How majestic your whispers
What a wonderful God

You made the world and saw that it was good
You sent your only son, for you are good

What a wonderful maker
What a wonderful savior
How majestic your whispers
And how humble your love

A thousand times I've failed
Still your mercy remains
And should I stumble again
Still I'm caught in your grace

Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame

My heart and my soul, I give You control
Consume me from the inside out Lord
Let justice and praise, become my embrace
To love You from the inside out

Your will above all else, my purpose remains
The art of losing myself in bringing you praise

Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame

My heart, my soul, Lord I give you control
Consume me from the inside out Lord
Let justice and praise become my embrace
To love You from the inside out

Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame
And the cry of my heart is to bring You praise
From the inside out, O my soul cries out

My Soul cries out to You
My Soul cries out to You
to You, to You

My heart, my soul, Lord I give you control
Consume me from the inside out Lord
Let justice and praise become my embrace
To love You from the inside out

Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame
And the cry of my heart is to bring You praise

Yes, you're right. I guess that's the problem here--the police force in the province is undermanned. I drove plenty of times from Tagbilaran, to dauis, to baclayon, to loay, to lila, to dimiao, to Valencia, etc. and saw little patrol cars in the highway outside the town centers.

Poems and Poets / Mo Huwat Kono Siya
August 19, 2010, 05:59:57 PM
By: A. L. Lucino

When presented with the situation,
that I was leaving Bohol again,
he met it with a smile and a phrase,
"Mo huwat ko."

My grandfather said the most beautiful phrase that I've heard come from him.
"Mo huwat ko."

Kai gusto man siya mo kita sa ahong ginikanan
kai gusto man siya mo kita sa ahong mga igsoon--iyang mga apo.
Mo huwat siya.

I beg and pray to God's sweet embrace
to give him more years to live,
strength of body,
strength of will,
strength of spirit,
so that we can see him again.

My dearest, beloved grandfather whom my memory cannot forget,
whose very voice commands my tears come down.

"Mo huwat ko."

I love you, 'Lo.

One thing that I remember about this guy--was that how he used to constantly criticize, make fun of, demean other students who had traits and qualities that he did not agree with. He was truly a borderline bigot. But one thing that the students in class, myself included, took into consideration was how 'cool' and 'lightly' he took his failing grades and despite this reality, continued with his almost narcissistic comments. As usual--picking on others while failing to see his own negative situation. He fed on negativity...

Truly--a Peter Pan Complex.

This reminds me of a character in college--an indivudual who I had a discussion with in an elective political science class. Borderline personality with a loosing sense of reality. Uber idealistic. Tho he was failing this particular class he was taking {American Military Policy in the Middle East}, his justification for his poor grade was, "I'll just live off my father's estate.."

College for him was more so on the social aspect, rather than the educational. Interesting person.

I was discussing this issue with some DILG workers and seeing the port in Jagna and Loay inspires us. I brought this up to a political member in Valencia--the question that I asked was, "why doesn't Valencia develop a port such as seen in Loay and Jagna?".

Considering the size of Valencia, the port in Loay is something that should be emulated and manifested in the municipality of Valencia.

Any case, Loay looks good. :)

Since acquainting myself with Fr. Roel Lungay, who is a proud member of Tubag Bohol Dot Com while serving as a parish priest in the State of Louisiana, I have come to know him these past 2 years and am proud to call him a friend, a Christian brother, and a spiritual model in sense of Catholic Christian Life. From the deep talks, discussions that have truly moved mountains and stirred waters, I was able to meet the giant of a man in the flesh. After trying contact him several times and yearning to see him and talk to him, was able to meet him on the 1st of August.

I had difficulty finding the location until i called him and he literally yelled out, "To your left, Bran, look. I see you now." hahaha!

Then I saw him.

For the deep conversation, the warm laughs, the fond memories of yesteryears involving my grandfather, and my father's generation--his generation--i took everything in. I was also surprised to know that Fr. Lungay is also an avid basketball player. LOL!

One thing I liked about Loon was that unlike Valencia and most of the southern Lungsods of Bohol, the area was rather hilly. There was a 'lower' town and an 'upper' town. I loved how the old Spanish steps were perfectly preserved. I found the town quite quaint and peaceful. I did enjoy my trip there.

One of the places that I stopped by was the Spanish steps in Loon, the church, and the site of the miraculous image of the Mother Mary.

Regards to Koddi. My apologies for not able to meeting with you. Perhaps we can meet up and enjoy coffee together in the not too distant future.

Si Bran Lorenzo. I think his mother's family name is Salise.

My father had a close friend na police sa Jagna, Salise ang apelyido.
Daghan ang mga Salise sa Jagna.

Gitagaan ko ug tennis balls ni Nong Salise (kadtong police) sa gamay pa kong bata.
Until now wala pa ko kalimot.

Very sharp memory, Michael!

My maternal great-grandmother was a Salise. She had relatives that were based near the boundary between Valencia and Garcia Hernandez and Jagna. The Salise Clan are originally from these towns. Salise members (some of them) migrated to what is now Butuan City and other parts of Mindanao--Cagayan De Oro, Bukidnon (Malaybalay) and Davao region.

I do remember my lolo telling me that he had relatives (Salise Clan) that were living in Jagna.
My mother did introduce me to my distant relative, Hector Salise (a Judge in Butuan) some years ago.
I was invited to visit them, but, did not have the time to visit. Next time. Perhaps.

Had the chance to drive through this hospital in downtown Tagbilaran City.

Are the owners of this hospital related to City Councilor Leonidas "Eddie" Borja?

newpanay,
Even in Tagbilaran City proper, the police force is undermanned. I talked to the chief of police in the police station during the post-sandugo festival and was told that there are less than 70 officers to patrol the city alone. For a city with a population that is over 100,000...it requires at least a police force of 250 or more. If the city is undermanned, we can only expect the same for the lungsods in the province.

I do hope that the Regional Director of the DILG (department of interior and local government) implements new protocol and discusses this issue with the governors of the provinces in Region 7.

27 years in a work place and dealing with family is worth more than the courses one takes in college that will never be applied in the work setting.

My grandfather once boasted to his friends, who were the Provincial treasurer, Provincial Auditor, Governor and Tagbilaran Municipal Engineer--when he was asked what school he went to, he replied, "UE!"

They thought he meant 'University of the East', but he corrected them, "University of Experience!".

haha. I did enjoy meeting you and the 'PUPPIES'.

Father, it is amazing how God brought old friends of friends together. I found out from my father that he knew Rey Tirol. When my father was in the boyscouts, while he was captain of the troupe, Rey was the lieutenant. Two of them were selected for a trip, my father being one of the 5 that went to the Global Jamboree in 1973 to Japan. Additionally, Rey Tirol's father, Gov. David Tirol, was a good friend and kumpare of my grandfather, Mr. Rustico Aray Lucino. Gov. David Tirol was the god-father of my uncle, Dr. R. Lucino.

And one of your friends, Ferds, was a classmate of my uncle Roy. :)

Thank you, Father, for the pleasure and the wonderful chit-chat, and the laughs.
See you soon. God Bless! As always!

Indeed. I met many friends (new) in Bohol , some from my childhood, and a host of family members that really made my trip worthwhile. My trip this year led me to all around Bohol, around Cebu and visited Leyte for the very first time. Loved it.

I will post pictures as soon as i have time to upload them.

I must say that your son has perfected his english! No accent. He sounds rather American. ;)
Wishing you and your entire family all the best.

Hi John,

I've recently visited Cebu and have heard of the high incidences of 'tulising' of taxi cabs and jeepneys where the robbers not only take the money but also shoot the driver(s) and passengers, resulting in high cases of homicides. Tho we can be thankful that Bohol is yet to become as 'dangerous' in this aspect, the new provincial government as well as the local governments, augmented and aided by the efforts of the DILG (department of interior and local government) should implement strategies and work efforts to reduce cases of highway robbery and theft such as these; the PNP and or some military units should be implemented since that region was the center of rebellious activity some years ago. I did remember hearing from my uncles in our cross-bohol drives that Carmen, Bilar, and Danao regions were ripe with NPA activity some years ago and that area was site to many fatal military ambushes.

In the recent 2010 Sandugo, I did witness many theft going on--and assisted a friend to the police station to file a complaint. Upon our visitation to the PNP station in Tagbilaran, we noticed that there were dozens of hit and run / hit and steal incidents. Dozens of suspects were detained and I had the chance to see them as well--many of whom were not even from Bohol. Many were from Iligan, Dipolo, Cagayan De Oro, Negros oriental etc--as per what the head of the police station told me when asked questions.

Bohol, as a high profile tourist destination definitely needs to spice up its defense capabilities and its law enforcement presence in far flung regions of the Province.

I believe that a joint effort between the Provincial Government and the DILG and the PNP can reduce cases like these considerably.

Felix,

Are you parents originally from Cortes or in a town near Cortes?

The last time i drove by Cortes, i noticed the growing municipality. They have a cool-looking 'municipio'. I did stop by their Catholic Church during my many cross-Bohol drives.

Thanks Pare (Ms. A)! Yes i am back home. In actuality i do feel sad being away from Bohol again. (sigh).

Besides the awesome beaches, night life, sights and sounds,..what i miss the most is my family in Bohol.

Saying goodbye was hard,..goodbyes are always hard for me. But I trust in the comfort that I will see them soon again (Maluuy ang Ginoo). :)

Worthy to note:

Saw a school of baracudas, some sand sharks, angel fishes, rainbow fishes, plenty of sea turtles (pawikan) etc.

Went diving with my auntie, my uncle William, and a dive master. Beautiful experience.

Dearest Friends,

My extended apologies for not being prompt in updating this travel blog, was too consumed with the time at home and the internet problem while in Bohol. I will, however, post some of my travel experiences, peoples, and places that were worth while and memorable. Pictures and some videos will be posted.

To my beloved family in Bohol, Cebu, Leyte--I am missing you all everyday. Incredibly longing to see you all again--soon.

I miss Bohol, Cebu and Leyte. Most of all i miss my family.

May the Lord God continue to Bless, and Protect all of us. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

And i miss you all as well, Bugsay. (btw, when i went scuba diving in balicasag, i finally found out the meaning of the word 'bugsay'). ;)
Hoping all is well with you too.

As for Valencia, the place really has changed since i was here last--1998. :)

It is amazing how when i arrived in valencia, immediately the people around my lolo's house knew who i was or were asking who i was. Valencia Public Market is still that same busy place. The bolinaw there is the best--i must say. no comparison. sorry, jagnanons, guindulmanons, garcianons, tagbilaranaons, andanons etc. Valencia is just---da best. ;)

Jagna's calamay is the best tho, i give them that.

I visited my lola's grave, my great grandparents etc.

I visited the Santo Nino Church of Valencia as well. I must say that the devotion to the Blessed Child Jesus is powerful here in Valencia.
PIT SENYOR , VIVA SENOR SANTO NINO is in the air. And attending mass in Valencia's Church is....spectacular. The faith of the people here is uplifting. Different kaayo dinhi kai ang church--is filled every sunday. And when i drove to go to 6am mass last sunday, people walked en mass to church. Wearing white, etc. The devotion to the sacrament is also beautiful here in Philippines. Catholic kaayo. I love it!

Home sweet home.  :D

Today is my last day here in Cebu this week. Yesterday I had breakfast with my cousin Jing at Hebrew's Cafe and then picked up my little cousin Daniella (who is from the UK) and took her to SM City Cebu as well as swimming around. Daniella really amazed me with her British Accent and her spirited nature. Wherever we went to the mall she would always hold her kuya Bran's hand and thten i realized she did not have a bracelet. I got her a lucky jade bracelet in one of the botique stores here in SM City Cebu.
She made me smile how she said that my voice and the way i looked was similar to that of her daddy (my uncle), Dr. R. Lucino.
I realized how i want to be a father in the not too distant future. I would not mind having daughter(s); i think i would probably spoil them with a father's love and protection. (just as a side note!). I am leaving for Bohol today at 2 pm. Am excited to go back to the island.

Let it be known that i miss and love my beloved mother, father, brothers and sister. I miss them dearly.

Love and kisses to my loved ones!!!
With all my all,
B.L

Per se: classical nationalism vs neo-nationalism etc,..

Perhaps when I have time i can address your points. Thanks for taking the time to read.

The seas are between us, separating us
yet the star that i look and gaze before falling to bed
is the very thought of you.

The soft caress, the laughs of friends, the family that surrounds me,
is but a completion and the additional supplement to the happiness that you give me,

How I miss you and yearn to hold you in my arms again.

Dong, Dr. Omo is my family's favorite doctor.  He is one kind-hearted doctor.

From meeting him, and from our brief conversation, I will agree. He is caring for my grandfather, as the Internist in Tagbilaran Community Hospital. I went with my Lolo to update his medication regimen as well as the status of his G-TUBE, which I personally changed without needing the help of a surgeon and a surgeon's charge.

The tube I brought home from the states and the service for free. The hospital was going to charge us 7k pesos for a baloon g-tube and 5k pesos for the surgeon to install it. I installed it myself without having to pay such fees.

That said i will have to say that the CRs (bathrooms) in Tagbilaran Community Hospital and Ramiro Hospital have to to be updated. It is unsanitary and can propagate nosocomial infection spreads. I say this as a Medical Intern.

I addressed this to the medical administration there. I hope they can address the situation.
