29Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

I read this today and found it comforting. Brothers, listeners, God is telling us that He is always there...no matter what.
May His truth reign always in all of us. God Bless us all...

See that you do not look down on one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven.
â€" Matthew 18:10

Jesus reminds His disciples the value the He places on “these little ones,” in other words, children.

Children are important to God. “It may be God has entrusted the care of little children to a specific group of His angelic beings (their angels) who are in constant touch with the heavenly Father” (The Bible Knowledge Commentary, New Testament Edition, Victor Books, 1984).

Jesus next demonstrates the importance God attaches to little children by giving the disciples the illustration of the lost sheep in Matthew 18: 12-14. After describing a man who searches for one of his hundred sheep, Jesus asks, “Will he not leave them and search for the one until he finds it?” He points out that in the same way God is concerned about “these little ones” and does not want to lose any of them.

Strength and Power in God's Providence,

What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all-how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died-more than that, who was raised to life-is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.

â€" Romans 8:31-34

Dear brothers and sisters,

It's necessary for us to search within ourselves, of who we are, and accept our weaknesses and our imperfections because in these times and moments, is when we find our perfection as man. As what St. Francis de Sales best put it, "This is the very perfection of a man, to find out his own imperfections."

And when one fully comprehends his limitations and places trust in the Lord Jesus Christ in all things, one experiences an indescribable joy and support, perseverance of the soul, and the realization that though one is imperfect, is augmented and brought to shine in the brilliance of Faith in Christ. One realizes a feeling of unfathomable joy by the Power of the Holy Spirit--and that spirit of Hope that comes from Christ's Promise of Eternal Support--truly transforms an individual for the better.

For there is no imperfections in the sight of Christ. What is imperfect in the eyes of man, is perfected by Faith in Christ.

With Love,

Finding Your Inner Strength
The Christian Perspective

by: A. Lorenzo Lucino Jr

One lives life thinking that there are obstacles confronting us and preventing our acquisition of an intended goal; many can conclude and even name these obstacles as: individuals, economic predicaments, political restrictions, intellectual limitations etc, the list seems to go on right?
One lives life constantly under the eyes of others, and one becomes consumed by this perception of trying to beat all others, but in this personal search to self-conceived perfection, one realizes that -- in the end, one looses something. It is the result of bargaining for perfection in any field, especially when one takes advantage of others to attain a goal, or sacrifices a relationship with a loved one, as well as family to attain a pedestal of a position, a work ranking, a job abroad, whatsoever it may be. There are losses, that is the sad point.

However, have you ever thought to yourself that--what if there really was no need to sacrifice family, what if success and feasibility are intertwined and depended on one thing: Your own self realization. Yes, what if you noticed that the problem that one had previously contributed to others and objects, really and truly was one's own self lacking one pivotal factor: FAITH.

One refers to a verse in scripture, which reminds us of the importance of faith in Jesus Christ as the source of success. In this day in age, where faith is challenged, where mental and spiritual strengths are attacked as one fights to survive in life. We are reminded by this message in the bible that personal strength and enlightenment depends on a relationship with the Almighty Lord God in Heaven. It is when we entrust our plans and our ways to the Lord that one receives blessings to accomplish the said task. We are reminded this time and time again in specific verses in the Holy Bible:

1. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. [Proverbs 3: 6]

2. Commit your works to the LORD And your plans will Succeed. [Proverbs 16:3]

When one realizes that he or she cannot do it alone, when one entrusts the burden of plans, of special appointments, of crucial moments in life to the brilliance and Wisdom of the Lord, one is inspired to complete what others would consider 'Impossible'. It is the beauty of a moving faith, it is the realization of the self and relation to Jesus Christ. That He works through you, for you have been purchased at a price.

Do good and may your works glorify Your Father In Heaven.
In the end, that is what counts the most.

For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
-Ephesians 2:10

The Act of Bravery Inspires Those Around You:  The Divine Command

The Divine Word In Modern Perspective

by: A. Lorenzo Lucino Jr

At the peak of his night shift , Dr. Ronald Kennsings, who was a general intern working in Raleigh Regional Hospital's Emergency Room, helped stabilize a stab wound patient  while the surrounding medical staff handled other patients in that room. Now when one thinks of a hospital setting, one thinks that there are multifaceted professionals with specific derived tasks: the nurse, the medical technologist, the nursing aides, the respiratory technician, the radiology technician, and the physician. However, there are times when the medical staff is undermanned, and in these times and circumstances , the importance of team work and criteria in selective care is necessitated.

The following hours that night revealed this practical truth. Several hours later, there was a massive traffic accident that occurred in Interstate 95, and the victims that were rescued were dispatched to Raleigh Medical Hospital, and at that moment, the only physician on the floor was Ronald, supported by 5 nurses in the ER that evening. The patients arrived in precipitating order, all together, 9 patients arrived with severe cranial concussions, several laceration injuries, severe internal bleeding cases, and 2 patients came in already unresponsive to CPR (cardio pulmonary resuscitation).

Ronald and the nursing staff took the helm and treated patients (from most severe to less severe), but at the height of the situation, Ronald found himself dimming and starting to bend psychologically, stressed and weakened by overwork, and the patients needing attention, exacerbated with the fact that he was the only physician on the floor that night. He began to despair, the sounds and the sights of his patients, his colleagues were faded, and he thought to himself, "How could i be placed in this situation? I can't do this, I don't have the strength to pull through this. I'm not good enough a doctor to help all of these people, why did i have to be here now? Someone help me..."

At that exact moment, a voice from the back of his mind came to him and resounded, "You Can Do Anything In My Name. Do Not Give Up. Stand on me, your Solid Ground."

Ronald gently proclaimed, "Jesus Help Me Tonight..." Ronald was strengthened at that moment and was given a surge of importance, his questioning ceased and he performed his duties as necessitated. After an hour of work, 2 other physicians that were on call that night came to the ER to support Ronald, and within 2 hours, all the patients were cared for and stabilized.

Ronald sat in the waiting room trying to clear his mind of the stress when he was approached by 2 registered nurses; the two of them thanked him for staying resilient in the floor and not wavering during the height of the situation. They thanked him and reminded him of how they were encouraged by his bravery and determination. Ronald smiled, and as the nurses walked back to the ER ward, Ronald fixed his eyes on the ceiling and gave a smile of thanks. His faith helped him carry the day and encouraged others around him. He then stood up, and walked back to the ER to handle another patient. Back to work.

"Will your courage endure or your hands be strong in the day I deal with you? I the LORD have spoken, and I will do it.
The Effects Your Courage Will Have On Others"

--Ezekiel 22:14

Blessed be Your name
In the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name
And blessed be Your name
When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed be your name

CHORUS:
Every blessing You pour out I'll
Turn back to praise
And when the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

Blessed be Your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's "all as it should be"
Blessed be You name
And blessed be Your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be Your name

CHORUS

You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name
I will bless Your name

CHORUS

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name

These are the days of  Elijah
Declaring the Word of the Lord, yes
And these are the days of his servant, Moses
Righteousness being restored
And these are the days of great trial
Of famine and darkness and sword
So we are the voice in the desert crying
Prepare ye the way of the Lord

CHORUS:
Behold he comes
Riding on a cloud
Shining like the sun
At the trumpet's call
Lift your voice
It's the year of jubilee
Out of Zion's hill salvation comes

And these are the days of Ezekiel
With dry bones becoming as flesh
And these are the days of his servant, David
Building the temple of praise, yes
And these are the days of the harvest
The fields are all white in the world
And we are the laborers that are in your vineyard
declaring the word of the Lord

CHORUS 2X
Behold he comes
Riding on a cloud
Shining like the sun
At the trumpet's call
Lift your voice
It's the year of jubilee
Out of Zion's hill salvation comes

There's no God like Jehovah (x8--modulate)
There's no God like Jehovah (x8--modulate)
There's no God like Jehovah (x7)

Psalms 121
1 A Song of degrees. I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
2 My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.
6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
7 The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
8 The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

Beautiful Worship Song!

Yes, Seek Ye First!
~~

Seek Ye first the kingdom of God,
And His righteousness,
And all these things, shall be added onto you,

Alleu, alleuia

Man shall not live by bread alone,
But by every word
That proceeds from the mouth of God
Alleu, Alleuia

Ask and it shall be given unto you,
Seek and ye shall find.
Knock and the door shall be opened onto you.
Alleu, Alleuia

Seek ye first the kingdom of God

And His righteousness

And all these things, shall be added onto you.

A catholic mass song. Beautiful!

Christ Be Our Light

1. Longing for light, we wait in darkness.
Longing for truth, we turn to you.
Make us your own, your holy people,
light for the world to see.

Refrain
Christ, be our light! Shine in our hearts.
Shine through the darkness.
Christ, be our light!
Shine in your church gathered today.

2. Longing for peace, our world is troubled.
Longing for hope, many despair.
Your word alone has powr to save us.
Make us your living voice.

3. Longing for food, many are hungry.
Longing for water, many still thirst.
Make us your bread, broken for others,
shared until all are fed.

4. Longing for shelter, many are homeless.
Longing for warmth, many are cold.
Make us your building, sheltering others,
walls made of living stone.

5. Many the gifts, many the people,
many the hearts that yearn to belong.
Let us be servants to one another,
making your kingdom come.

I attended mass in Valencia's Parish of the Santo Nino and was struck by a beautiful song that we sang in mass.
I remember the name of the song being "Magdayeg Ta Sa Ginoo".

However, I cannot find the lyrics online, nor do i remember the lyrics to this mass song.

Anyone know this song? If so, can you post it and provide the translation?

Thank You.

I have not seen them in over 20 years, many of whom , I do not recollect due to the long absence. I fell in love with all of them and felt at home immediately. My Lolo Nono (the older , handsome gentleman) who happens to be my Lola's younger brother, kept on kissing my face and hugging me. Rubbing my beard he kept on saying, "Mora man ka sa imuhang Papa, Doy! Rico jud ka , Rico jud ka!" in reference to my Father, Engr. Rico Lucino. I was brought to tears at my Lolo Nono's presence and just being around him. His laughter and the laughter of his kids and grandkids brought a sense of belonging-ness to my heart, a feeling that i would liken to the prodigal son seeing his father and family again after a long absence.
They prepared for us a 2 meter long dalupapa (giant squid) and food.

Thank you for your kindness, and your love, Lolo Nono and family...
I do truly Love and Miss you all...

lahi jamo ang Tubag Bohol hinigala-ay ug ang personal nga meeting, kay sa mga komentaryo morag aduna kay ma-imagine sa pagkatawo, apan ang mag himamat, natural flow ang conversations.
I didn expect to meet Lorenzo personally, thinking all the while all his stop-overs, Leyte, Cebu and Bohol`(hectic na kaayo). Pressy better luck next time, I´ll try to make it up.

Personal and sentimental journey truly best describes my visit to the Philippines. It has been 12 years since I last visited the Philippines (1998). I not only visited Bohol and made rounds in Cebu, but one of the major spots that I needed to visit was Leyte. For the first time in my life, I was able to visit and pay my respects to my paternal great-grandparents: Mr. Teodolo D. Ebuenga Sr & Mrs. Hermogena T. Ebuenga (my father's maternal grandparents) and Mr. Bernardo Lucino Sr & Mrs. Maria A. Lucino. (my father's paternal grandparents).

My grand aunt accompanied me to their grave sites and colloquially referred me as their 'apo nga sungay'. I never knew I had so many relatives in Leyte. The entire town of Padre Burgos, Southern Leyte apparently knew my great grandfather and the barangay captain of sawang was my grand uncle. Of the Ebuenga Family. Upon visiting Pintuyan (esp. Baranggay Catbawan), I realized that the entire bario were filled and populated with Lucinos, Estrellas, Mascarinas (who are related to me). I found out that the Mayor of Pintuyan was my Lolo Lolong (Mayor Cipriano Lucino), who was a 3-term mayor of Pintuyan.

The Lucino home base is not Bohol, but is in Pintuyan, Southern Leyte. :)

Upon visiting Leyte, I realized that I want to see more of the region. Perhaps in my next visit to the Philippines, I can realize this goal and further explore my paternal side's home region. For so long I only knew about Bohol, and only little of Leyte.

I remember standing on the beaches of Tangka-an and saw with my eyes Limasawa Island to my north, and Pintuyan Island to my northwest and the Philippine Trench to my distant east. This was a place of history, the site of one of the largest naval battles in human history during the Battle of Leyte Gulf in 1944. There is so much history ...

I discovered a part of myself in this trip. I discovered not only my Bisayan roots, but discovered my Leyteno bloodline, my Leyteno history.....

To God be Glory.

Not many people would think that really expensive luxury SUVs can perform to the level of say larger SUVs, but that is not the case.

The Porsche Cayenne Turbo (~ $140,000) can rip through snow like knife through butter.

this is shy mamma mia, a female puppy (original owner unknown) that we "acquired" less than 48 hours ago by accident.  she strayed with her mother to a nearby gas station.  unfortunately, her mother left her there.  (thus her name, mamma mia.)

the gas station already has 3 big dogs, excluding those that come daily as visitors.  the big dogs showed hostility to this helpless puppy, which worried the station's staff.  they turned desperate when mamma mia was run over by a car.  luckily, she survived unscathed because she was positioned in the middle, between the wheels.  that was when they decided to pass this quivering, scared, and scarred puppy to us.

but why us?  perhaps it's because every time i hear a dog yelp in pain, i at once run to the gas station to ask why.  (serves me right.)

we can't keep mamma mia.  two rooms in the house are already occupied by 6 adopted cats.  besides, we're not staying here for long.  we wouldn't dare abandon pets, though, but neither could we afford the expense of taking home with us 6 cats and a potentially big dog.  (this early, i already know that it costs 200 bucks per kilo of live animal, including the weight of the pet carrier, in airfare alone.)  and there are already 4 dogs back home.

but i'll do what i can for mamma mia; have her vaccinated, spayed, draw out her potential as a playful puppy, take away her fears, and convince her to trust humans.  then i'll look for the best home for her in a month or so.

i believe it was mamma mia's mother who came to the gas station this morning to look for her puppy.  that dog gave me an idea of how big mamma mia would turn out, fully grown.  but how does one explain to a dog not to stray with her puppy to avoid the highway's dangers?  how do i tell their owner, if ever i get to meet him, to be more responsible and to exercise measures so their pets won't stray?

one day soon, mamma mia will go to another home.  a much better home, to be sure, because i will see to that.  already, i feel like crying.

What an adorable little one! Mama Mia is beautiful.

It was indeed a pleasure to meet Manay at the airport where she surprised me with her immediate response, "Oy doy!" lol. Saying goodbye to my family was emotional for me, goodbyes in general are a sensitive for this gentle giant of a man. :)
As my eyes were welling with tears as I hugged goodbye to my Uncle Roger, Uncle Rey , Uncle Renee, Ate Aurora, Inday Sophie, Inday Daniella, Auntie Daisy and the entire entourage of family and friends,..i also saw Manay again.

Being able to talk to her and laugh with her at her general report (things she did in the trip) actually softened the parting process. It was not until my Delta Flight left for Nagoya Japan, and then to Detroit, Michigan USA that I actually started to get emotional again--missing my extended family.

So to Manay, thank you for making me laugh and for sharing your wonderful experiences in Bohol. You're a good lady.

Isles, yes, unfortunately (or fortunately; depends on the person of course) this kind of mentality still is apparent in the Philippines, where there is a misconception of a virgin being pure and free of sin, and the de-virginized woman being the antithesis. Luckily for us and our society, this mold is slowly being changed.

When I first arrived in Padre Burgos, I visited my Lolo Nono (my grandmother's younger brother) and was brought to tears at his reaction in seeing me. He kissed me and embraced me with warm and open arms. Waiting for me were his children, and grandchildren, all of whom are relatives whom I have never seen before (or have no recollection , since i was 5 years old when I left the Philippines in 1990).

Seeing them and being with them was the life experience of a life time. A connection and reunion of family in my father's side.

My father's parents are not native of Bohol, but are Leytenos. My paternal grandfather is from Pintuyan , Southern Leyte , whereas my paternal grandmother is from Padre Burgos, Southern Leyte.

Leyte is my 2nd home-island. I am half Boholano and half Leyteno.  :)

We arrived in Maasin, Southern Leyte via a barge (which we used to transport my Isuzu Crosswind AV) , then drove from Maasin to Padre Burgos, where I stayed for the night and had a reunion with members of the Ebuenga Family (the side of my paternal grandmother). My great-grandfather, Mr. Teodolo D. Ebuenga Sr, was the principal of Padre Burgos National High School till his passing in 1982. I not only saw my grand-uncle, my uncles and aunties , distant cousins, but also was able to visit and offer / light a candle of remembrance to my great-grandfather, Mr. Teodolo Ebuenga, and my great-grandmother, Mrs. Hermogena Torrero Ebuenga (both of whom were teachers/educators in Padre Burgos, Southern Leyte).

to my dearest Ethylene..

How I miss your comments and your talks on life in the south,
So many questions and words left unsaid,

How are you now, where are you now, what is new with you?
These are the questions that i wish i could address to you, yet i restrain.
I restrain because I am apprehensive if you would respond, to this man that misses you.

My darling dear, perhaps my message will never meet your eyes or may fall to deaf ears,
but I write it here, because I do feel.

I continue to wish only the best for you, wherever you are, whatever you are doing now.

On a sunny Sunday morning several years back, before I gave up playing golfâ€"before, that is, I fully realized that “golf” spelled backwards precisely names the applied masochism the game entailsâ€"three horse-drawn buggies containing three Amish families on their way to Sunday service passed by on the road near the green I was approaching.  As they passed, each occupant in each buggy turned to look at me.  I wondered, do they think I am profaning the Lord’s Day by being on a golf course instead of in a church?  Then, almost immediately, unable to pass by myself, I wondered, am I?

And there it was.  The Catholic sensibility.  The earth has spun around the sun forty times since I was a practicing Catholic; forty times since I actively embraced the faith into which I was born, upon which I had been raised, and in which I had been educated; forty times since I had been to Sunday Mass; forty times since I had conscripted myself in the capacious army of the fallen away.  And still, still, that persistent, low-frequency hum of Catholic sensibility from which a periodic, stiletto-sharp, consciousness-piercing pulse of guilt erupted.

Catholic sensibility is the Mariana Trench of concepts, deep enough for every human being on the planet, and, possibly, elsewhere, to validate the assertion of that sage semanticist, Humpty Dumpty, who tells Alice, “When I use a word . . . it means just what I choose it to meanâ€"neither more nor less.”  For me, Catholic sensibility is a set of principles that ligature experienceâ€"of the world and of oneselfâ€"and keep the soul right side up.  It is not the prose of doctrinal conformity, so much as a mindfulness of the poetry of spiritual immanence and a determination to shape one’s life by the stern claims of its entailments.  It is the stance of Anselm who, in the preface to his Proslogium, declared he wrote as “one who seeks to understand what he believes,” “understand” here meaning thorough knowledge in the service of accomplished performance.  It is the stance of Aquinas, whose prescription for salvation is to know what we “ought to believe,” what we “ought to desire,” and what we “ought to do.”

I have found, and continue to find, myself bruised in the encounter with the last of Acquinas’s oughts: “ought to do”.  Catholicism makes performative demands, and for me they are a “reflexive” confessional, Emerson’s term for the standards by which I “absolve me to myself.”  By that standard, I remain unshriven.  Belief, I believe, is not doctrinal assent; that is merely passive fundamentalism.  Rather, belief is basic theological principles practiced.  The good of any activity, its virtue, Alasdair MacIntyre says, is internal to the practice of it.  I know what I ought to believe and believe it; I know what I ought to desire and desire it.  I believe in a natural law that reveals universal moral precepts and desire to conform myself to them.  I believe in the reality of conscience, free will, and individual responsibility and desire to be alert to their dictates.  I believe, with Aquinas, that human reason is “rather like God in the world” and desire to be an analyst as well as a witness.  I believe in Jesus’s second great commandment and desire to seek the well-being of my neighbor with the same alacrity with which I seek my own. I believe that the Mass is a ceremony commemorating atoning sacrifice and conferring benediction, and that, at its heart, in a time when the word is so casually applied, lies a miracle.

But, despite knowing what I ought to do, I falter.  I am too often decentered by glibness and cynicism and self-absorption and inattentiveness and lack of trust and stubbornly imperviousness to the needs of others.  I am too often weak, just plain weak, and without the moral arrowroot that would thicken my fortitude.  Catholicism demands that what I believe and desire be fully integrated into all aspects of my life, that it be the lived texture of all my relations with the world.  Knowing that, and knowing as well my capacity for indolence and indecisive lassitude, suborns me; it leads me to accept the flat-souled givenness of my doing instead of its oughtness.  That is, in me, the Catholic sensibility that gave me pause before the gaze of those three passing Amish families.

Perhaps their being Amish keyed open the door of my Catholic sensibility, for their lives bear witness in every way to Paul’s description in Romans of the practice of belief: “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is.”  “Test and approve,” action incorporated, embodied: thus the simplicity of dress to act humility; thus the refusal of connection to electrical grids to act a disconnection from a world that demands conformity to its structures of thinking and feeling; thus the lack of car ownership to act a communal equality of status, wealth, and power; thus the Ordnung to act a way of life governed not by statute but by a tradition absorbed so undilutedly into the community’s capillary system it need not be spoken.  And thus, while I played golf, three families committed to service and holy living, to transformation and renewal, on their way to their church district’s Sunday service.

By the end of that round of golf I had resolved to never again play on Sunday.  One year later, I quit playing golf entirely.  And to this day I am still thinking, still wondering, still almost but not quite prepared to listen to the still small voice that tells me I ought to return to Sunday mass.
