Jan,

I will advise you to tell your GP that the anxiolytic (lorazepam) works for you, but in regards to the SSRI that he prescribed for you (citalopram), best to tell him that it does not work and that you are not taking it. If there is no need of it, tell him so, thus he no longer has to place you on said maintenance therapy. I'll remind you that Citalopram is used only during cases of acute major depression.

Take care of yourself, Jan.

Best,

Trust only in God.

Psalm 40: 13-17

13 Be pleased, O LORD, to save me;
       O LORD, come quickly to help me.

14 May all who seek to take my life
       be put to shame and confusion;
       may all who desire my ruin
       be turned back in disgrace.

15 May those who say to me, "Aha! Aha!"
       be appalled at their own shame.

16 But may all who seek you
       rejoice and be glad in you;
       may those who love your salvation always say,
       "The LORD be exalted!"

17 Yet I am poor and needy;
       may the Lord think of me.
       You are my help and my deliverer;
       O my God, do not delay.

Jan,

Ingna imung doctor that dili man maayo mo combine ug anxiolytics ug antidepressant; it has a synergistic CNS depression effect.
Ask him if you could switch you from lorazepam to alprazolam. The latter (Alprazolam) is better and has less negative side effects.

Jan, i caution you not to take everything your doctor gives you, and always ask him the effects this will have on you physiologically/neurologically. Always ask questions, and tell him that the antidepressant isn't working. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of anti-depressant is he giving you?
Remind him that you would rather prefer Atypical-antidepressants because it has less EPSEs! (Extra-pyramidal side effects).

Take care.,

A Philippine court has sentenced a father to 14,400 years in prison after he was convicted of the near-daily rape of his teenage daughter over the course of a year.

A trial court originally condemned the man, a motorcycle taxi driver, to die in March 2006 after he was convicted of 360 counts of rape allegedly carried out during the year his wife worked in Hong Kong.

The Philippines repealed the death penalty in June 2006 and the Court of Appeals in Manila affirmed the conviction on Sept. 8 but lowered the sentence to 40 years' imprisonment _ the maximum now allowed by law _ for each count of rape, according to a copy of the decision obtained Friday.

The then-13-year-old victim, now 22, said her ordeal began in January 2001, when her mother left for work in Hong Kong as a domestic helper and left her three children with their father in Los Banos, a township just south of Manila.

She said he forced her to have intercourse with him almost every day, except when she had her period or on holidays, when he would make her perform oral sex.

The ordeal only ended after she and her siblings spent a vacation with their mother's relatives. Reluctant to return to her father at the end of the vacation, she broke down and told her family about the abuse. Her mother returned home from Hong Kong and helped her file the case. - associated press

Note to all Philippine congressmen: Please restore death penalty

Yes, indeed. Restore the death penalty.

My father is a great role model, Thanks be to God. He is not afraid to speak his mind, he is honest (brutally honest), and he is a man that lives up to principle. He is a good father, a great provider, a loving husband, and from their experiences, it tells us, their children, that patience, trust, honesty and Love completes and cements a marriage.

Trust and Honesty, is important.

My father , to me, represents the best qualities of a Filipino man: his devotion to family, his upholding of culture, and the love and fear of God.

He should know that his children adore him. Especially his boys, who want to be just like him.

I asked my youngest brother, Andre, what he wanted to be like when he grows up. Andre answered immediately, "Just like dad!"

Immediately ning ngisi among Papa...hahaha!

~~

Ikaw pood, Belle, i am sure that your son will love and cherish you as his mother. It is the beauty of a parent-child relationship. Love and Respect.
#28340
My mother is strong, resilient, hardworking, loving and steadfast. My father is the typical loving , doting Father. My Father is strict, but his love for his children reigns supreme in his heart (his reason for going to Saudi, as well as moving to the US). The two of them are a good team, Thanks be to God.

Sometimes we would joke with our parents how they were able to raise 4 children by themselves. And not only that, 3 of the 4 children are boys. (I am the eldest of 4, and one of 3 boys). As well as raising a very refined and respectful daughter (my younger sister, who is a 2nd year Medical Student...)

My parents taught us one thing: That Family Stick together. This is why we love and adore our parents.

My mother and father's Love is the physical representation of God's Love in our Lives.

A Time for Everything

For everything there is a season, and a time for very purpose under heaven: 2 a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; 3 a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; 4 a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; 5 a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; 6 a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; 7 a time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; 8 a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace. 9 What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboreth? 10 I have seen the travail which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised therewith.

11 He hath made everything beautiful in its time: also he hath set eternity in their heart, yet so that man cannot find out the work that God hath done from the beginning even to the end. 12 I know that there is nothing better for them, than to rejoice, and to do good so long as they live. 13 And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy good in all his labor, is the gift of God. 14 I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor anything taken from it; and God hath done it, that men should fear before him. 15 That which is hath been long ago; and that which is to be hath long ago been: and God seeketh again that which is passed away.

Support for surgical intervention:

As an aneurysm becomes larger than 5.5 cm, the risk of rupture increases exponentially; an aneurysm smaller than 5.5 cm is less likely to rupture and or to benefit ratio of surgery is less supportive. Therefore, if an AAA is smaller than 5.5 cm in diameter and asymptomatic, the patient can be followed with ultrasound or CT surveillance ever 6 months. If the aneurysm is larger than 5.5 cm in diameter and symptomatic, the patient should be taken to the operating room, the former is considered a medical emergency.

Even if the patient's vitals were done, more could have been done to preserve the life and raise the vitals. Plasmapharesis, blood donation, as well as catecholamines could have been used to increase sympathetic activity. Sad to hear this case.

Presentation:

A 59 year old male presents to the emergency room with sudden severe and constant low back pain. Past medical history is significant for hypertension, hyperlipidemia, emphysema, coronary artery disease, stabile angina and a 25 pack year history of smoking. The patient was hospitalized for a CVA 7 years ago. Physical examination reveals a 5.8 cm pulsatile mass superior tot he umbilicus in the abdomen. T= 98.5 degrees F, BP= 150/90 mm Hg, HR = 80 bpm, and RR = 23 breaths/min.

Differential:

AAA (aortic dissection aneurysm), pyelonephritis/ nephrolithiasis, prostatitis, and pancreatitis.

Diagnosis:

Given that this pain developed suddenly and the presence of an abdominal pulsatile mass, this patient most likely has an AAA.

Lab Order:

CT scan with contrast, CT angiogram, and cardiac catheterization to be performed to assess cardiac risk and potentially revascularize the patient for operation. Surgical intervention mandated.

This time last year we saw our very first sunset together.
Sitting next to you toasting to a very special birthday.
This time last year I could not keep my eyes off of you,
you joked if my eyes were glued to something,
i retorted, yes, on you.

This time last year, my love, i had to restrain myself when we were watching the sunset.
Do you know why so, my love?
Because i had such an urge to kiss you. Your lips so soft.
To contain oneself is so hard sometimes when the whole of one's being opposes the restraint.

..i kissed you anyways.

I was driving back and when I saw the coming sunset, I stopped my truck, parked it.

And with the cool southern breeze carressing my face, the smell of the ocean, the sound of trucks passing by, augmented with the smell of burning leaves that the people initiate to keep mosquitoes away, my eyes fixed itself on the clouds above, and the sun setting below.

I closed my eyes softly and took everything in. Internalized. I was in Valencia, my feet on Valencianon soil, breathing Valencianon air, and with my own eyes...seeing what seems to be my first recollection of a sunset in Valencia.

We give our pains to the Lord, who comforts and pardons the iniquities of sin. And gives mercy to those who die in His Friendship....

Your good friend is in my thoughts and prayers. I am praying and thinking of you too, Father Roel...

May our Lord Jesus Christ grant pardon and mercy to the recently deceased and grant them entrance into His Kingdom in Heaven.
This we ask and pray through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with the Father. Forever and Ever.

I went to Bohol this last July 2010 and when I was in my grandparent's house, i saw a large portrait of my father arriving from Saudi Arabia. The picture was taken in 1983 (i think). My dad was a Civil Engineer in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for some time before we moved to the 'states.

I noticed immediately that he had a beard in his youth.
He was 25 when this picture was taken. haha..

dad,

ako,

Both are beautiful, imo.

For me, I liked the bride's wedding gown. Very flowing. :)

Wolf,

I am so sorry, and am really touched at this personal experience. There is nothing anyone can say to take away the pain of loosing a loved one, especially a son who was so young. You and your son are in my thoughts and prayers....

I am so sorry...

Truth be told,

I still have my red and blue silk boxers that my xgf from college gave me.
She even sewed her initials inside.
I don't wear it tho. Too much memories...:P

LOL! naka hinumdum ko sa una, sa college pa ko, ning balik ko sa ahong kuarto after my midterms, to see my room mate was wearing my boxers.
i said to him, "Georgi, what in &%$R are you doing with my boxers?"

With a smile he laughed and said, "Well, since we're roommates, we should share everything..."

After that incident, i had to hide my underwears from him. I was wierded out, man.
