Question and Answer / Re: Are Suicide Bombers Insane?
January 09, 2011, 07:03:39 AM
Quote from: bol-anon nga cebuano on January 09, 2011, 06:02:58 AM
martyrdom is always related to good deeds or you died for your faith without having to kill or sacrifice innocent lives. it's different when you wasted other lives to gain martyrdom. it's a total opposite of the meaning on the word martyr. both islam and christianity termed martyr as witness. in Islam, a martyr is termed "shahid" (literally, "witness," as in the Greek root of the English word). The word shaheed appears in the Quran in a variety of contexts, including witnessing to righteousness (Quran 2:143), witnessing a financial transaction (Quran 2:282) and being killed, even in an accident as long as it doesn't happen with the intention to commit a sin, when they are believed to remain alive making them witnesses over worldly events without taking part in them anymore (Quran 3:140). The word also appears with these various meanings in the Hadith, the sayings of Muhammad.

if our brothers in islam believe that committing suicide for the death of the christians, then they are not true islam believers and followers of allah and prophet mohammad.

Al hamdulillah! Yes you are correct, Ray. When religion is twisted and convexed to suit a political agenda, it looses its spiritual importance and becomes a tool. If a muslim is filled with anger and hatred and discerns to kill himself / herself in the intent of killing and harming innocents in the process then he / she dies with the blood of innoncents in their hand. And it will not be paradise where he/ she is going, but to eternal damnation.

In the Quran, we the Al-Qitab (people of the book) are deemed as beloved and blessed by God. It is in these neo-political madras and ultrafascist imams that twist the teachings of Islam for a violent purpose, a political purpose.

Murders are murderers. Suicide bombers are not martyrs, but murders. They die in their sins and their reward is eternal damnation not paradise.. Inshallah, there will be peace between Christians, Jews and Muslims. And Inshallah more Muslims will open their hearts and minds to Christ Jesus and be saved...

Amen/ Amin...

7 Whoever corrects a scoffer gets himself abuse,
and he who reproves a wicked man incurs injury.
8 Do not reprove a scoffer, or he will hate you;
reprove a wise man, and he will love you.
9 Give instruction  to a wise man, and he will be still wiser;
teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.

hehe.  my "belief" is in keeping with the fact that people can convey harmful thoughts.  these harmful thoughts, being energies, can manifest themselves as real physical harm.

let me tell you what i know (or was told) about the role of diamonds in warding off evil.  like crystals (and surely you know how some people take crystals, which are used for healing, protection, etc.), a diamond's role in warding off evil is supposedly to absorb the harm, thus diverting it away from the person.  hardy as a diamond is, it's supposed to crack if such an eventuality happens.  lol.

thank you for that cultural lesson, isles. i did not know the etiology of that superstitious practice, but now i do.

when i went to leyte, i did not wear any jewelry whatsoever, however, i did bring with with us the blessed sacred image of Senor Santo Nino. hehe :)

i have known some friends here in the U.S.A who were victims of pyramid schemes, putting all they owe to investments that were self-serving. and to later find out that they were robbed of their earnings, while the one selling the scheme profited. ever since then, i am wary of believing schemes such as these. a message of warning for all: be fiscally conservative in regards to investment. true wealth does not come fast, but requires diligence and hard work to accumulate.

most of all, do not take advantage of the poor. everything is taken account.

Proverbs 22:22-23
“Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate: For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.”

working honestly for money instead of taking advantage of poor and unfortunate brothers and sisters is the way towards sure success.

Wealth obtained by fraud dwindles, but the one who gathers by labor increases it.

hello isles,

belated happy new year and christmas season!

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.  Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.  And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. As it is written:

   â€œThey have freely scattered their gifts to the poor;
   their righteousness endures forever.”

--2 Corinthians 9: 6-9
#25913
13 Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality. 14 At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. The goal is equality, 15 as it is written:

“The one who gathered much did not have too much, and the one who gathered little did not have too little.”

Bible Study / Give Generously....
January 08, 2011, 03:03:04 PM
In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. 3 For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, 4 they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the Lord’s people. 5 And they exceeded our expectations: They gave themselves first of all to the Lord, and then by the will of God also to us. 6 So we urged Titus, just as he had earlier made a beginning, to bring also to completion this act of grace on your part. 7 But since you excel in everythingâ€"in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in youâ€"see that you also excel in this grace of giving.

--2 Corinthians 8: 2-7

27 Whoever diligently seeks good seeks favor,
but evil comes to him who searches for it.
28 Whoever trusts in his riches will fall,

29 Whoever troubles his own household will inherit the wind,
and the fool will be servant to the wise of heart.

--Proverbs 11: 27-29

24One gives freely, yet grows all the richer;
another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want.
25 Whoever brings blessing will be enriched,

PROVERBS 8

12 “I, wisdom, dwell with prudence,
and I find knowledge and discretion.
13 The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil.
Pride and arrogance and the way of evil
and perverted speech I hate.
14 I have counsel and sound wisdom;
I have insight; I have strength.
15 By me kings reign,
and rulers decree what is just;
16 by me princes rule,
and nobles, all who govern justly.
17 I love those who love me,
and those who seek me diligently find me.
18 Riches and honor are with me,
enduring wealth and righteousness.
19 My fruit is better than gold, even fine gold,
and my yield than choice silver.
20 I walk in the way of righteousness,
in the paths of justice,
21 granting an inheritance to those who love me,
and filling their treasuries.

22 “The Lord possessed  me at the beginning of his work,
the first of his acts of old.
23 Ages ago I was set up,
at the first, before the beginning of the earth.
24 When there were no depths I was brought forth,
when there were no springs abounding with water.
25 Before the mountains had been shaped,
before the hills, I was brought forth,
26 before he had made the earth with its fields,
or the first of the dust of the world.
27 When he established the heavens, I was there;
when he drew a circle on the face of the deep,
28 when he made firm the skies above,
when he established  the fountains of the deep,
29 when he assigned to the sea its limit,
so that the waters might not transgress his command,
when he marked out the foundations of the earth,
30 then I was beside him, like a master workman,
and I was daily his  delight,
rejoicing before him always,
31 rejoicing in his inhabited world
and delighting in the children of man.

32 “And now, O sons, listen to me:
blessed are those who keep my ways.
33 Hear instruction and be wise,
and do not neglect it.
34 Blessed is the one who listens to me,
watching daily at my gates,
waiting beside my doors.
35 For whoever finds me finds life
and obtains favor from the Lord,
36 but he who fails to find me injures himself;
all who hate me love death.”

O miraculous Santo Nino prostrate before your sacred Image,
we beseech you to cast a merciful look on our troubled hearts. Let Your tender love, so inclined to pity, be softened at our prayers, and grant us that grace for which we ardently implore you. Take from us all unbearable affliction and despair. For your sacred infancy's sake hear our prayers and send us consolation and aid that we may praise you, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, forever and ever. Amen.

O Senor Santo Nino, *You are king and our God, *We worship You, *You are our strong Defender, *We turn to You;

*You are the Patron of Cebu and the Philippines, *We come to you; *You have made *extraordinary wonders through Your Miraculous Image *in these chosen Islands, *remember us. Look down at this poor soul *that comes to You for help. Lead us with Your wisdom. *discipline us with Your Truth, *console us with Your Tenderness, *protect us with Your Might.

We consecrate today *our thoughts to You, *only with You *shall they be occupied; *our words, *only of You *shall they speak; *our sufferings, that we may endure them *for Your sake. We beg You, *Senor Santo Nino, *illumine our understanding, *kindle our will, *cleanse our body, *sanctify our soul. *We wish what You wish, *because You wish, *as You wish, *as long as You wish.

Grant us, Senor Santo Nino, *that We may feel *love toward You, *be strict toward ourselves *be zealous toward our fellowmen, *and rightly despise *the things of the world. *Help us *to overcome sensuality *with strict discipline, *avariciousness with generosity, *anger with gentleness, *indolence with zealous industry. *Make us wise in counsel, *courageous in danger, *patient in adversity, *humble in prosperity.

Teach us, *dear Santo Nino, *how worthless is the world, *how sublime is heaven, *how brief is time, *how long is eternity. *Grant us, lastly, that We may remember You, *adore You, *love You, *and serve You *here on earth *that We may be happy with You *forever and ever in Heaven. Amen.

Samtang galing, inday, mo hilak si Ondoy kai nag away away ka nija
Mo suwat galing si Ondoy sa unsa ijang gi sakitan , unsa ijang gi hinuktukan
Pero when it comes down to it, his Love for you is unbreachable.

And as martyrs, believe that they gain entrance into paradise.

However, as deviated their version of Islam is, they break a major law and even a hadith written in the Q'uran (as well as in the hadiths):

“And their Lord has accepted of them and answered them, “Never will I suffer to be
lost the work of any of you, whether male or female, you are members, one of
another…”
(Qur'an3:195)

and yet again,

“O you who believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to God, even as against
yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, and whether it be (against) rich or poor: For
God can best protect both. Follow not the lusts (of your hearts), lest you swerve, and
if you distort (justice) or decline to do justice, verily God is well-acquainted with all
that you do.”
(Qur’an 4:135)

To murder, in itself, is a sin. These suicidal bombers who have a twisted conviction that by cold bloodedly killing non-muslims will gain them entrance into paradise are in for a shocker. If they believe in Allah the most merciful most beneficent most compassionate, then they must know that Allah will not let their crimes go unpunished. For is He not also merciful and compassionate to those whom were killed by a deviated religious conviction? If they read the Qur'an properly, they would know that the Al-Qitab (people of the book "christians and jews") are blessed and beloved.

tsk tsk.

The hierarchy within the hospital setting

Here in the hospital, it seems to me that the medical student seems to be always looking up to the attending physicians or the residents. I find myself always doing the orders of the resident doctors, and the attendings. The environment in the hospital has relegated us medical students as 'cannon fodder' so to say for the residents. lol.

One thing that i do find relieving is the presence of nurses here. The nursing staff, tho are ordered around by the doctors , and at times even glossed over by uppity-uppity medical interns, are actually filled with knowledge and clinical experience that can supplement one's growing knowledge.

Developing a friendly and mutual relationship with the nurses, resulted in them saving me multiple times during 'inquisition' moments. lol.
When a resident asked me about the past sugar history of a particular patient, the nurse in the floor saved me by whispering to me, "tell him that he has been ordered for glycosylated hemoglobin already...". There are a plethora of examples.

Nurses, medical techs, physician assistants, therapists etc are all essential in this allied health care sytem that i work in. Thank goodness for the many nurses out there who are so receptive to lending a helping hand to us medical students. And all we have to do, in order to access their wealth of information, is merely ask for it....

I will always maintain this cordial, friendly, respectful relationship with the nurses. It is given, as my parents are both nurses, my aunts are nurses, and i have uncles that are nurses as well.

I guess it is true...if one asks, one will be given...

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."
--Matthew 7:7

Thanks be to God!

what is the difference between a medical intern, a resident, and an attending physician?

some medical intern answered: "The coats! medical students have shorter white coats. residents have long white coats as with the attending physicians. but residents tend to have pockets filled to the brim with notes , case books, and look like they're sleep deprived and underpaid. attendings are what we want to be. satisfied. and well paid!"

Nurses and my experience(s) thus far.

Last week, i was on call with 4 other medics, with us were 2 resident physicians. so basically, we (the medic interns) were slaves for the night. then again i can't blame the residents for being annoyed and irritable. i would be too if i were on-call for 72 hours straight. :P

that night, i was able to meet 3 filipino male nurses and 2 other filipina nurses. 1 of them was from bicol, the others were from iloilo, mindanao and luzon.

there is something about filipinos that strike me. it is our ability to know when another filipino is in the room. our ability to identify each other is quite amazing. apparently i was able to identify filipino med-techs and nurses that my fellow medical interns (the indian ones) were amazed at it. lol.

that night, as i walked the halls of 2EAST, and taking patient histories, i was cornered by 2 filipinas. both of them much older, probably in their early 50s or late 40s.

They asked me, 'excuse me, Medical Student Lucino, where are you from?'
i, not expecting to be asked that question (since i was on my way to check the vitals for a dialysis patient that night), started a conversation with them. after revealing my 'new jerseyan roots' i also shared my being 'Bolanon'.

"Oh you are from Bohol??" said one.
i responded, "yes, originally, yes."

"Oh im from Iloilo!" said one
"And im from Manila" said the other.

They became my new 'titas' that night. the illonga would be the one referring to me as 'toto' that night. lol
so i developed an alliance with the filipino nursing staff. and most of all, their knowledge in the floor.

i guess it gives filipina nurses much pride to see a filipino medical student in the floor. much of all, it gives this medical student a great honor to be friends and working with such knowledgeable RNs!.

hello blog,

i want to buy a maxwell mini-booklet that i can put in my white coat. i also need to buy a new writing pad. taking all these patient histories and writing soap notes requires a firmer writing board.

i must say that doing my clinical rotations here in chicago is going great. there is always something new to see. and each new patient is as interesting as the last. the clinical years are enjoyable and its interesting--quite so! to see how all the theory and text-book material being applied in the actual hospital setting.

This week i performed my first stool sampling. i guess this is a necessary baptismal of fire (so to say) for all medical interns. lol. ive become quite good at it and has really shown to me the importance of a complete physical on patients. fine tuning my skills, as what the residents here say, is necessary for all medics.

so far, not so bad. i can't wait to start my surgical rotations. the head of surgery is a Filipino Surgeon. :)

if you compare the town of talibon and ubay, which you prefer to become a city??? A lot of people cry loud nga ang talibon  gyud ang ma siyudad...What do you think Dr. Lorenzo in your view ?

I have visited both the ports of tubigon as well as Ubay during my cross-Bohol drives this summer, Arki. Both towns have seem to have experienced infrastructural booms, just from my first impression. Let me be frank in that Talibon's mise-en-scène exuded a sense of bustling economic activity, but not in comparisons to that seen in Ubay. Ubay's size and area, its rich diversification and vast piggeries as well as rolling rice fields almost emanates the perfect meaning of a 'balanced economy'. The town has a bustling seaport, a large market place, manufacturing plants, agricultural plants, processing plants, a growing service sector, a rich hospital system and a teaming transportation system that is unique from that of Tagbilaran City per se its own version of the pedicab (only peddled).

I enjoyed both towns (Talibon and Ubay), but in my on observation, I think Ubay is larger than Talibon and is more opt to become a city than the other. Ubay is a super town, and would deign to call it a city. The population of the town is over 65,000 people. The town is equipped with its a plethora of private schools, a college, and multiple elementary and high schools.

Strategically speaking, Ubay's ascencion into a city would lead and pave the way to the growth of Northern Bohol. Thus leading to a trickle-down economic effect for the surrounding municipalities around Ubay proper.

Cheers.

Faith Without Works Is Dead

You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.  And in the same way was not also Rahab the prostitute justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way?  For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.

My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him. For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.

It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline?

If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.

Valencia - Bohol / Mr. Mariano Tan: My Great-Grand Father
December 30, 2010, 05:44:11 AM
This is a tribute page for my late great-grandfather, Mr. Mariano Tan. Lolo Mariano, who was born in Guangzhou, China, immigrated to the Philippines in 1903 and would call Valencia, Bohol his home as he developed a life and a business in the Philippines.
His full Chinese (HAN) name was: Tan Ngai He. He was the husband of my late great-grandmother, Mrs. Gabina Ingnalan, a Spanish-Filipina mestiza. They would have 4 children and they will be named accordigly from eldest to youngest.

1. Fortunata Tan
2. Ceciliano Tan
3. Balbina Tan
4. Juliano Tan

Their oldest child, and first daughter, anhing Fortunata Tan-Salvo is my maternal grandmother. My Lola Nating.

This summer 2010, I was able, for the first time in my life (as an adult) to visit the grave site of Lolo Mariano and my late Lola Gabina. It was a heart pounding and tearful experience to visit the grave of my Chinese Lolo. To give and offer my homage to his memory, as is the custom, the Chinese custom, of a male Chinese son/grandson before the memory of his grandfather/grandmother. I offered onto his grave fresh flowers, and 24 candles. 12 candles for my Lolo Mariano and 12 candles for my lola Gabina. Each candle symbolized each year that I was unable to visit them. As I sat with them, a gush of cool breeze covered my face, and none of my candles, which were lit, were blown off. The wind touched the flowers I presented in offering for my great-grandparents. I could not help but smile and had this feeling that my Lolo Mariano was there watching me. It was a beautiful experience.

Thanks to the help of my uncle Romeo, I was able, through Grace of God, to see the face of my Lolo Mariano. I have always wanted to see how he looked like, but thought that all his pictures disappeared or were lost in time. It was not the case, apparently so.

My uncle saved a picture of our Lolo, one that was taken when he just arrived in the port of Jolo, Philippines in 1903. This picture was of my Lolo Mariano when he was only 22 years old. If you look closely, his dress attire and his hair cut style is that of the Qing-Dynasty China. It was a standardized by the Qing Emperors that all male Chinese would shave their top hair and keep the back long and tied in a knot. Seeing this picture makes me happy, to see how my Lolo looked like when he was my age, and also to see and reaffirm that I have such a long history, an undiscovered history in Guangzhou, CHINA.

Dr. Concepcion Lim's late uncle, anhing Mayor Poblo Lim, was the best friend of my late grandmother, Mrs. Fortunata Tan-Salvo.
I can remember when i was younger, the former Mayor Pabling Lim would come to our house and pinch my cheeks as he would ask where my Lola was. lol. He was a good man, imho.

I can see the similarity between the faces of Dra. Conching Lim with the late Mayor Pablo Lim.

Correction. Lt. Commander Meija was Wrongly accused.

American serviceman wrongly accused of smuggling out cocaine
FROM:  The Philippines News Agency ~
MANILA, Philippines
American serviceman Lt. Cmdr. Scintar B. Mejia should have been promoted to
the rank of full commander in the Navy if he did not leap to his death at
the stairway of the Police Center for Aviation Security office at the Ninoy
Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Monday.
Mejia on Sunday was wrongly accused of smuggling out a plastic sachet of
cocaine, where he was apprehended and brought to the office of the Police
Center for Aviation Security at the NAIA complex before he could board his
Philippine Airlines flight to Los Angeles.
According to a report by PDEA Director III Wilkins M. Villanueva, dated
December 27, which was only released Tuesday, citing the laboratory result
prepared by PDEA's chemist Maria Therese Anne L. Domingo that the substance
in question turned out to have negative findings of dangerous drugs.
Earlier, reports said security personnel Jose Saul Villegas, not knowing
that Mejia was a US Naval officer, sought police assistance after Mejia
allegedly became hysterical and shouted invectives on him. Villegas told
investigators that Mejia threw a plastic sachet that contained the suspected
cocaine.
Villegas said in the report that he noticed "a white powdery substance
inside the transparent plastic sachet thrown unto him earlier by the suspect
which was suspected to be cocaine."
The suspect was arrested by policemen SPO2 Roberto D. Figueras and SPO1
Mateo Aguilas for possible violation of RA 9165 and violation of Article 155
for Alarm and Scandal.
When he was in the custody of the aviation police, Mejia asked his escort
cops if he could go to the comfort room but it was occupied.
He begged policemen SPO2 Figueras and SPO1 Aguilas to allow him to relieve
himself outside the building which the two policemen granted.
When Mejia was already walking with the aviation police, he ran off towards
the door of the building and jumped at the approximately ten-feet-high
stairway hitting his head to the ground. He later died at the San Juan De
Dios Hospital for head injuries.
US embassy officials through Joey McGee of the Police Protection Department
were informed of the incident, while Pasay Police Office had been requested
for an impartial investigation of the case.

Bible Study / Re: ELI, ELI, lama sabachthani?
December 28, 2010, 01:22:31 PM
"About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, 'Eli, Eli, lama
sabachthani?' - which means, 'My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?'"
Matt alters Mk's Aramaic  eloi to Hebrew  eli (see NIV text and mg.) for closer
conformity to the original of Ps 22:1, and for a closer approach to the name of
Elijah, Elias (v. 47).

   1. The Cross and Gethsemane.  This utterance is not merely the sequel to
the agony in Gethsemane; it is the explanation for that agony.  We can now
understand why Jesus shrank from the Cross.  Cf. earlier discussion on the causes
of Jesus' agony - including horror over abandonment by the Father which was to
be the inevitable consequence of the Son's "becoming sin."  We must reject the
view that Jesus thought he was forsaken by the Father, but in reality was not.  He
is really abandoned, and he knows that he is abandoned.  And having been
deserted by the Father, there is no hope of rescue by Elijah (49) or anyone else.

   2. The mystery.  There is no recorded answer to Jesus' question, "Why
have you abandoned me?"  The subject is so profound and so holy that for God to
have provided an answer for us would have been (as it were) to cast pearls before
swine, or (at best) to say something that we could not comprehend nor fathom.

   3. The knowledge.  Because Jesus clearly perceived the nature of his
mission, in one sense he knew why God had abandoned him.  He early submitted
to a baptism for sinners (3:15).  His ministry is typically one of the most intimate
socializing with "tax collectors and 'sinners'" (9:10-13).  Here at the Cross he
identifies in the closest way with human sin.  Identified at his baptism as the
appointed Servant of Yahweh (3:15-17), he is the one in whom the prophecy of Isa
53:4-10 comes to realization.  As the direct consequence of having borne "the
iniquity of all" his people (1:21), he suffers the wrath of God, and abandonment by
God (cf. Leon Morris, The Cross in the New Testament, 42-49).

   4. The anguish.  We must do more than speak of Jesus' knowledge of
what is happening.  Indeed, it is just that knowledge that gives rise to the anguish.
To quote John White:  "If I were coldly logical I could point out that Jesus knew
the answer to his own agonized cry.  He knew why.  He had known during his
earthly ministry.  He had known with awful clarity in the Mount of Olives.  His
question is not a plea for intellectual understanding but an expression of agony that
overwhelmed understanding" (Daring to Draw Near, 153).  For the One with
whom he had enjoyed the closest communion (even in Gethsemane, where he
calls God "Abba"), has now abandoned him utterly.

   5. The faith.  We should not overlook the language of faith within the cry
of dereliction itself.  Not only does Jesus speak of "my God."  He also cries, "Why
have  you forsaken me?" (not "Why has  God forsaken me?").  In face of
abandonment by God (or imagined such abandonment), "where could I go but to
the Lord?"  Cf. Job's fierce determination to maintain contact with the God who,
he thinks, has abandoned him.  "It is far better to cry 'Why?' than not to cry at all.
It is better to protest in dismay than to curse God and die....  Our very agitation is a
product of faith....  Once we lose all hope that there is an ear to hear or a heart that
is concerned, despair becomes absolute" (White, Daring, 154).

   6. The meditation.  I believe Jesus' quoting of Ps 22:1 indicates that he
meditated on the whole psalm, and that he thus moved from despair to victory:
"For [the LORD] has not despised or disdained the suffering of his afflicted one;
he has not hidden his face from him but has listened to his cry for help" (22:24).
This helps explain the confidence and peace reflected in his remaining Words from
the cross.  This is the one Word Mt records.  But note also 26:50, "And when
Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit."  A comparison
with Jn strongly suggests that 26:50 refers to the cry, "It is finished" (Jn 19:30).
Note also the final word, Lk 23:46, "Jesus called out with a loud voice, 'Father,
into your hands I commit my spirit.'"  As in Gethsemane, Jesus' striving with God
brings peace with God
