Love Talk / Re: relationship with priest
January 31, 2011, 11:41:16 AM
my view why some women engage in sexual relationships with priests might be an example of transference. they see the positive traits of that particular priest , traits that their parents have (a father, or a mother) and in the course of developing a relationship with that priest, transferred that admiration. This has resulted in the transference and libidal exertion usually manifests , something that normally occurs during a psychoanalytic therapeutic relationship between a patient and the psychiatrist. there usually is a intrapsychic tension in the patient's psyche that cannot separate the new entity (the priest) and the old entity (a loving characteristic of an old parent, loved one) which results in a subconscious sexual urge to acquire that entity.

then there is the second theory, which is a distortion of religiosity with sexuality. that in itself is a psychopathology that i will share later on.

i'd like to read further posts.

Right to enjoy, nobody gives a damn about one enjoying the fruits of his 'labor' (which is another debatable issue brewing for a president who works only from 10 to 6 while an ordinary government worker is mandated to be available 24/7 and that's as a public servant.
The issue however is modesty.
If he has not the modesty to accept he cant be president without thinking about it thoroughly, he should have the modesty to stash his millions they squeezed from the poor farmers of hacienda luisita until he finishes his term, if he does.
You cant flaunt what may not be yours, di ba? peace

the issue is not modesty, the issue is capitalism and freedom to do what you please with what you have. him being the president should not limit him to what he can buy merely because some poor individual cannot afford such a car, in this case, a porsche. the modesty aspect is all relative and depends on the person. as for his family owning hacienda luisita, that is a family business and the workers are employed under them. as the owner of an agraricultural machine, one is entitled to the products, the output, and the revenue , of course after paying the hired hand.

what he does with his money is up to him. and as the president of the republic of the philippines, am sure he is entitled to some pleasurable pursuits , given the stresses of the office he occupies.

there are some presidents who steal billions of dollars (such as marcos, sukarno, franco etc), there are some presidents who are womanizers and adulterers (berlusconi, clinton) etc.

pardon my interjection in the view that president aquino hasn't violated any laws in purchasing a slightly used porsche.
a simple capitalism is now seen as 'unmodest'. again, what's with the judgment?

if the man has the money to purchase an automobile, let him. its a slightly used porsche (~60k usd).

peace be with you, dude.

As is abundantly clear, the Iglesia Ni Cristo is a cult. They deny essential historic Christian doctrineâ€"namely the Trinity and the divinity of Jesus Christ. They hold an almost unbreakable grip on their members and they impose a man-made path to salvation through service and works. Our Lord predicted that in the last days there would come many who claim to be Christ and lead people astray (Matthew 24:5). Thankfully he also said that the true believers would not be turned away (John 6:37).

As Christians, we must be wary of the teachings of false messiahs and cultic offshoots of Christianity, such as the Iglesia Ni Cristo. We must be well grounded in the word of God so that we can spot these purveyors of falsehood. We must also realize that the people who are trapped in these cults need the salvation that can be found in Jesus Christâ€"the only Son of Godâ€"just as much as we did when we were lost in our sin.

Answer: The sect known today as the Jehovah's Witnesses started out in Pennsylvania in 1870 as a Bible class led by Charles Taze Russell. Russell named his group the “Millennial Dawn Bible Study.” Charles T. Russell began writing a series of books he called “The Millennial Dawn,” which stretched to six volumes before his death and contained much of the theology Jehovah’s Witnesses now hold. After Russell's death in 1916, Judge J. F. Rutherford, Russell's friend and successor, wrote the seventh and final volume of the “Millennial Dawn” series, “The Finished Mystery,” in 1917. The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society was founded in 1886 and quickly became the vehicle through which the “Millennial Dawn” movement began distributing their views to others. The group was known as the “Russellites” until 1931 when, due to a split in the organization, it was renamed the “Jehovah’s Witnesses.” The group from which it split became known as the “Bible students.”

What do Jehovah’s Witnesses believe? Close scrutiny of their doctrinal position on such subjects as the deity of Christ, salvation, the Trinity, the Holy Spirit, and the atonement shows beyond a doubt that they do not hold to orthodox Christian positions on these subjects. Jehovah’s Witnesses believe Jesus is Michael the archangel, the highest created being. This contradicts many Scriptures which clearly declare Jesus to be God (John 1:1,14, 8:58, 10:30). Jehovah’s Witnesses believe salvation is obtained by a combination of faith, good works, and obedience. This contradicts countless scriptures which declare salvation to be received by grace through faith (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5). Jehovah’s Witnesses reject the Trinity, believing Jesus to be a created being and the Holy Spirit to essentially be the inanimate power of God. Jehovah’s Witnesses reject the concept of Christ’s substitutionary atonement and instead hold to a ransom theory, that Jesus’ death was a ransom payment for Adam’s sin.

How do the Jehovah’s Witnesses justify these unbiblical doctrines? First, they claim that the church has corrupted the Bible over the centuries; thus, they have re-translated the Bible into what they call the New World Translation. The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society altered the text of the Bible to make it fit their false doctrine, rather than basing their doctrine on what the Bible actually teaches. The New World Translation has gone through numerous editions, as the Jehovah’s Witnesses discover more and more Scriptures that contradict their doctrines.

The Watchtower bases its beliefs and doctrines on the original and expanded teachings of Charles Taze Russell, Judge Joseph Franklin Rutherford, and their successors. The governing body of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society is the only body in the cult that claims authority to interpret Scripture. In other words, what the governing body says concerning any scriptural passage is viewed as the last word, and independent thinking is strongly discouraged. This is in direct opposition to Paul's admonition to Timothy (and to us as well) to study to be approved by God, so that we need not be ashamed as we correctly handle the Word of God. This admonition, found in 2 Timothy 2:15, is a clear instruction from God to each of His children to be like the Berean Christians, who searched the Scriptures daily to see if the things they were being taught lined up with the Word.

There is probably no religious group that is more faithful than the Jehovah’s Witnesses at getting their message out. Unfortunately, the message is full of distortions, deceptions, and false doctrine. May God open the eyes of the Jehovah’s Witnesses to the truth of the gospel and the true teaching of God’s Word.

Bible Study / Question: "What is Iglesia ni Cristo?"
January 31, 2011, 07:09:00 AM
Answer: Iglesia Ni Cristo was founded by Felix Manalo in 1914 in the Philippines. The phrase “Iglesia Ni Cristo” is Tagalog (the language of the Philippines) for “Church of Christ.” Sadly, while claiming to be a church, Iglesia Ni Cristo has all of the basic elements of a cult. The first and foremost is a single charismatic leader who claims to have a special revelation from God. Felix Manalo was a former Catholic who abandoned Catholicism in his teens. He experimented with several Protestant denominations and the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Manalo finally started his own church, the Iglesia Ni Cristo, in 1914. When a schism in the church appeared in 1922, he began claiming to be God’s prophet in an effort to accumulate power and re-assert his leadership over the church.

Some of his claims are that the Iglesia Ni Cristo was prophesied in the Bible. The specific prophecy they quote is Isaiah 43:5-6, “Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east, and from the west I will gather you. I will say to the north, Give up, and to the south, do not withhold; bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the end of the earth.” Iglesia Ni Cristo interprets the word “east” as “far east” (based on a faulty translation) and claims that it points to the Iglesia Ni Cristo being created in the Philippines.

The Iglesia Ni Cristo claims to be the one, true Church of Christ because they are called “the Church of Christ” and they can point to some verses in the Bible which use the phrase “church of Christ.” Most notably, they point to Romans 16:16, which says, “Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the churches of Christ greet you.” However, in this verse, the “churches of Christ” isn’t referring to the name of a particular church, but to all the churches that Paul visited that followed Jesus Christ. They also read from a mistranslation of Acts 20:28 that reads “church of Christ,” but the actual Greek reads “church of God.” Whether or not a church is named the “Church of Christ” is irrelevant. There are many churches that have “Church of Christ” in their name, that doesn’t make them the one true church.

Another example of defective doctrine in the Iglesia Ni Cristo is their Christology. They deny the divinity of Jesus Christ (as do all cults and false religions) and assert that Jesus was created by God and enabled to do miraculous works by God. They deny the doctrine of the Trinity. They claim that the Holy Spirit is an impersonal force. As such, they claim that the Christian church in its current form has apostatized, and that the Iglesia Ni Cristo is the reinstatement of the true church that was lost in the first century; and this by means of God’s last messenger, Felix Manaloâ€"the founder of Iglesia Ni Cristo.

Another example of the cultic nature of Iglesia Ni Cristo is its claim to be the sole source of truth and salvation. This may seem odd since Christianity, as a whole, makes these claims of exclusivity too. The difference is that while Christianity does make exclusive claims, individual churches / denominations do not (or at least should not) claim to be the sole source of that exclusivity. True churches recognize that there are other Christian churches outside of the denomination that are rightfully Christian, and that we can all believe different things on secondary doctrines, yet still all be saved. Jesus Christ himself said that salvation was found in Him, that He was the only way to the Father (John 14:6), not membership in a specific church.

Here are some of the other un-biblical, or extra-biblical, doctrines that Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) teaches:
• They believe that one must hear the gospel from authorized INC messengers and ministers.
• They believe the official name of the church is “Iglesia Ni Cristo.” Other names are not the true name of the church, and thereby false churches.
• They believe a person must be a member of an INC church and be water baptized to be saved.
• They believe people must avoid eating dinuguan, which is pork blood stew, a Filipino delicacy.
• Their members must avoid joining trade unions.
• Their members must avoid court sessions.
• They must vote in blocks.
• They are under compulsory church attendance.
• They must give tithes to the church.

According to the INC, all of the above rules and regulations are mandatory in order for a person to be saved. The Bible, of course, teaches that salvation is “the gift of God, not of works, lest any man boast” (Ephesians 2:9).

January 31, 2011, 05:19:11 AM
To: All members of tubag bohol dot com, and persons involved in this matter.

I have a question to all of you who are willing to share their views:

Why do you think women develop relationship with priests? We tend to have a presumption on why priests would engage with women, their celibacy in conjunction with their natural sexuality may cause such pluripotent ramifications. But i would like you all to dig deep in your core precepts , your principles, and to give us an answer why do you think / what psychological mechanism would allow a woman to engage with a man who is supposed to be of the cloth?

Let us talk about this further in detail.  I would also like to do a psychoanalysis / psychodynamic psychoanalysis of the different reasonings.

Thanks.

Abortion Facts [U.S Data]

Unintended Pregnancy

Each year, almost half of all pregnancies among American women are unintended.1 About half of these unplanned pregnancies, 1.3 million each year, are ended by abortion.

There are many myths and misconceptions about who gets abortions, and why. The fact is that the women who have abortions come from all racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, and religious backgrounds. If current rates continue, it is estimated that 35% of all women of reproductive age in America today will have had an abortion by the time they reach the age of 45.

Measuring the Incidence of Abortion

The incidence of abortion can be tracked in two different ways. The first is simply to keep a tally of the total number of abortions obtained by women who fall into specified categories. Numbers tracked in this way are usually expressed as a percentage of all abortions provided in a year. Alternatively, the rate of abortion can be measured by calculating the total number of abortions obtained per 1,000 women who make up the total population in each category.

Age

Women between the ages of 15 and 19 account for about 19% of all abortions; women 20 to 24 account for another 33%; and about 25% of abortions are obtained by women who are 30 or older.4 Calculating abortion rates, older teenagers and young adults have the highest abortion rates, while women younger than 15 and older than 35 have the lowest.

Length of Pregnancy

Most abortions (88%) are obtained in the first trimester of pregnancy. In fact, over half of all abortions are obtained within the first 8 weeks. Fewer than 2% occur at 21 weeks or later.

Education, Residence, and Income

Of the women obtaining abortions in 2000:

    * 57% had some college education;
    * 88% were from metropolitan areas; and
    * 57% percent were low-income.

Marital Status

Most women getting abortions (83%) are unmarried; 67% have never married, and 16% are separated, divorced, or widowed.4 Married women are significantly less likely than unmarried women to resolve unintended pregnancies through abortion.

Religion

Women who obtain abortions represent every religious affiliation. 13% of abortion patients describe themselves as born-again or Evangelical Christians4; while 22% of U.S. women are Catholic,7 27% of abortion patients say they are Catholics.

MYTH: Women are using abortion as a method of birth control.

In fact, half of all women getting abortions report that contraception was used during the month they became pregnant. Some of these couples had used the method improperly; some had forgotten or neglected to use it on the particular occasion they conceived; and some had used a contraceptive that failed. No contraceptive method prevents pregnancy 100% of the time.

If abortion were used as a primary method of birth control, a typical woman would have at least two or three pregnancies per year - 30 or more during her lifetime. In fact, most women who have abortions have had no previous abortions (52%) or only one previous abortion (26%).5 Considering that most women are fertile for over 30 years, and that birth control is not perfect, the likelihood of having one or two unintended pregnancies is very high.

MYTH: Women have abortions for selfish or frivolous reasons.

The decision to have an abortion is rarely simple. Most women base their decision on several factors, the most common being lack of money and/or unreadiness to start or expand their families due to existing responsibilities. Many feel that the most responsible course of action is to wait until their situation is more suited to childrearing; 66% plan to have children when they are older, financially able to provide necessities for them, and/or in a supportive relationship with a partner so their children will have two parents.8 Others wanted to get pregnant but developed serious medical problems, learned that the fetus had severe abnormalities, or experienced some other personal crisis. About 13,000 women each year have abortions because they have become pregnant as a result of rape or incest.

MYTH: Women are often forced into having abortions they do not really want.

Some women say that pressure from a husband, partner, or parent was one of several reasons they chose abortion, but only about 1% give that reason as the "most important" one in making their decision.9 Conversely, some women who do not want to continue their pregnancies are pressured to do so by family members, friends, or fear of social stigma. Pre-abortion options counseling is designed to determine whether a woman is fully comfortable with her abortion decision, and if she is not, she is encouraged to wait until she has had a chance to consider her options more fully.

MYTH: Many women come to regret their abortions later.

Research indicates that relief is the most common emotional response following abortion, and that psychological distress appears to be greatest before, rather than after, an abortion.

There are undoubtedly some women who, in hindsight, wish that they had made different choices, and the majority would prefer never to have become pregnant when the circumstances were not right for them. When a wanted pregnancy is ended (for medical reasons, for example) women may experience a sense of loss and grief. As with any major change or decision involving loss, a crisis later in life sometimes leads to a temporary resurfacing of sad feelings surrounding the abortion. Women at risk for poor post-abortion adjustment are those who do not get the support they need, or whose abortion decisions are actively opposed by people who are important to them.

Not supposed to happen in that said place according to whom?

i thought about 3/4 of the world population (Abrahamic followers) believed that place is free of calamity because it is a birthplace of Jesus Christ, a son of God for Christians, birthplace of Jews God and a birthplace of Prophet Mohammad, a messenger of God for Muslims.

so, no one can imagine that this place is not safe for calamity.

this area was in calamity even before the arrival of christ; note the destruction of the jewish templ by the assyrians , and the sacking of jerusalem by the romans. as or muhammad, even before his birth, arabia was in turmoil. there is no place on earth that is free from calamity because there is no perfection, no paradise, no heaven on earth. that is only in the hereafter.

if one reads the tanakh , old testament and the q'uran, then one would know that Providence hailed destruction on the two sister cities of Sodom and Gamorrah. they were not spared, and they were in the holy land.

#25344

the reason, nong , is because viral infections are associated with bacterial infection, the latter is an advantageous effect of viral infection., hence the prescription of antibiotics : amoxicillin, penicillin, cephalosporins (1st-4 generation).

way to go.  he ended up exterminating himself.  (he wasn't good-looking himself.  ugh.)

he was good as dead, as the Russian Red Army had already taken berlin. hitler did not want to be taken prisoner by the russians. he only had 1 way out.

Absolutely madam Isles. Heroes or tyrant, they oh so look human with soft hearts tickling memeng with a gentle flower.

of course, inday, they were human too.

the world's view of the german soldier as being 'evil' and 'tyrannical' is the result of yellow journalism and militant labeling ; the effect of war-time propaganda. the view that 'all germans' and 'all japs' and 'all italians' were evil and the enemy.

all men have a soft side to them, beneath their tough coats. why, even adolf hitler. am sure.

if he existed longer, dugay ra gipaasohan atong mga ancestors sa chamber and i think we wont be here today  nga mga maut! hahahahaa!

it is interesting how hitler was able to control all of germany, and how his ideology of racial superiority was followed religiously. to some germans at the time, hitler was seen as the 'messiah' to their country. again, considering how degraded germany was after her defeat in the 1st world war, anything seemed 'positive' at the time.

one can't help wonder tho-- what would have happened had the axis power won the war?

i truly doubt that germany would want to have its hands on asia; as it was seen as a foreign region. nazi germany, xenophobic as it was, left asia for the asians--in this case, the Empire of Japan. Who also had an immensely powerful war machine and insatiable, ravenous appetite for conquest.

looks like he had to, by way of a gentle reminder that in our country there's no constitutional amendment that unwittingly enables high-powered guns to end in the hands of maladjusted teenagers like those in columbine, or in the hands of 13-year-olds, or in the hands of a brain-addled loner who shot a congresswoman.  y'know, waffle, rifle, apple, truffle, single, double, fumble, stumble...  ;D

these are instances of violations of 2nd amendment right, however, they were included in the US constitution and integral to american law and policy. it is so sensitive, may i add, that any proposal in us congress of a possible gun ban, gun-control measures, have been destroyed.

like any right, it should be practiced with respect and responsibility. clearly, the examples of the columbine students were maligned, depressed, non-normative teenagers with adjustment disorders illustrated in their murder spree. they do not represent the american teenagers in this country. nor do they represent the majority of the millions of americans who own guns.

cheers.

Hitler's aim: to populate the world with perfect human race, the aryan and to exterminate the "reject" including us! hu,hu..

He believed that Europe was to be ruled by the German Aryan race and that the Slavic peoples (russians, ukranians, belorussians, bulgarians etc) were to the be slaves of the Third Reich.

I did read a report and watched documentaries in the history channel were it was proven that german aryan adoption agencies even recruited blond-haired, blue-eyed nordic peoples to intermarry with germans, holding a much more favorable view of northern europeans and 'lower germans' aka the dutch and parts of france and belgium.

as for the extermination aspect, hitler did not want to exterminate the world, but rather he deemed the 'juden'; the jewish menace. he and many germans at the time ultimately believed that the jew was the root of europe's and thus germany's economic woes and racial capitulation.

under hitler, germany signed the tripartite axis treaty with italy and japan. the three powers, had they won the global war, would have divided the world into their own spheres of interests.

as for the philippines, germany recognized that it would become part of the Japanese Empire otherwise known as the Greater East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere (GEACPS).

whatever their role was during the war (they could have been heroes had they won and history would have been written differently), they're just boys who toed the line of duty and patriotism, whether they liked it or not.  look at them enjoying a kitten in their midst despite the grenade.  such respite from fighting just to survive the battlefield must seem like heaven.

indeed. many of them were indoctrinated into the Hitler Youth and knew nothing but the National Socialist Party. they were doing what was expected of them for their German Fatherland. millions of young, handsome German men were sent to their deaths for that war.

Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration is the adoration of Jesus Christ present in the Holy Eucharist. In the many Churches that have this adoration, the Eucharist is displayed in a special holder called a monstrance, and people come to pray and worship Jesus continually throughout the day and often the night. Christ’s great love for us was shown when he was crucified on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins and give us eternal life. He loves us without limit, and offers Himself to us in the Holy sacrament of the Eucharist. Can we not give Jesus a few minutes of love and adoration in return?

What sins are to be confessed

Among the propositions condemned by the Council of Trent is the following: "That to obtain forgiveness of sins in the Sacrament of Penance, it is not necessary by Divine law to confess each and every mortal sin which is called to mind by due and careful examination, to confess even hidden sins and those that are against the last two precepts of the Decalogue, together with the circumstances that change the specific nature of the sin; such confession is only useful for the instruction and consolation of the penitent, and of old was practised merely in order to impose canonical satisfaction" (Can de poenit., vii). The Catholic teaching consequently is: that all mortal sins must be confessed of which the penitent is conscious, for these are so related that no one of them can be remitted until all are remitted. Remission means that the soul is restored to the friendship of God; and this is obviously impossible if there remain unforgiven even a single mortal sin. Hence, the penitent, who in confession willfully conceals a mortal sin, derives no benefit whatever; on the contrary, he makes void the sacrament and thereby incurs the guilt of sacrilege. If, however, the sin be omitted, not through any fault of the penitent, but through forgetfulness, it is forgiven indirectly; but it must be declared at the next confession and thus submitted to the power of the keys.

While mortal sin is the necessary matter of confession, venial sin is sufficient matter, as are also the mortal sins already forgiven in previous confessions. This is the common teaching of theologians, in accord with the condemnation pronounced by Leo X on Luther's assertion, 'By no means presume to confess venial sins . . . in the primitive Church only manifest mortal sins were confessed" (Bull, "Exurge Domine"; Denzinger, "Enchir.", 748). In the constitution "Inter cunctas" (17 Feb., 1304), Benedict XI, after stating that penitents who had confessed to a priest belonging to a religious order are not obliged to reiterate the confession to their own priest, adds: "Though it is not necessary to confess the same sins over again, nevertheless we regard it as salutary to repeat the confession, because of the shame it involves, which is a great part of penance; hence we strictly enjoin the Brothers (Dominicans and Franciscans] to admonish their penitents and in sermons 'exhort them that they confess to their own priests at least once a year, assuring them that this will undoubtedly conduce to their spiritual welfare" (Denzinger, "Enchir.", 470). St. Thomas gives the same reason for this practice: the oftener one confesses the more is the (temporal) penalty reduced; hence one might confess over and over again until the whole penalty is cancelled, nor would he thereby offer any injury to the sacrament" (IV Sent., d. xvii, q. 3, sol. 5 ad 4).

The Council of Trent (1551) declares:

As a means of regaining grace and justice, penance was at all times necessary for those who had defiled their souls with any mortal sin. . . . Before the coming of Christ, penance was not a sacrament, nor is it since His coming a sacrament for those who are not baptized. But the Lord then principally instituted the Sacrament of Penance, when, being raised from the dead, he breathed upon His disciples saying: 'Receive ye the Holy Ghost. Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them; and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained' (John 20:22-23). By which action so signal and words so clear the consent of all the Fathers has ever understood that the power of forgiving and retaining sins was communicated to the Apostles and to their lawful successors, for the reconciling of the faithful who have fallen after Baptism. (Sess. XIV, c. i)

Seeing his pictures i was so sad because i was not there to see him get ready for his semi-formal. He is getting older and has become a man in my eyes.
