When What Was Ours Never Was

Perhaps this is the secret to enduring heartbreaking loss. If God is above all other things in our hearts, and all worldly things are placed in their proper perspective, we will still feel great pain in grief, but our hope runs beyond the things that can be taken away. For, God can never be taken away from us. Only God is a sure hope.

God Comes 'Nearer' Through Brokenness

Faith is the answer to this conundrum - the conundrum of suffering; of enduring same. Then we might say, "What does this faith look like when it is impossible to get through the next hour?" It's a question that cannot be answered; only experienced, one survived moment at a time - through the courage of faith.

The unconscious mind has a long history of providing flash insights, great inspiration, new beliefs, and many discoveries. Finding Hope's Light Again

It's hard to imagine when our hope has evaporated, as if it never existed, just how we will re-rail our lives. This is no exaggeration or underestimation of the power of helplessness and hopelessness. Millions upon millions attest to the vacuum of despair met with daily. Some have known hope, whilst others never have. This poem is about those that have glimpsed some sort of divine hope; but in having lost the way, due to some unrelenting issue, we are desperate to find hope's light again. Somehow we believe it can be found, and upon that very belief is founded both the source of our enquiry and the eventual acquisition of such spiritual blessing it could only be called HOPE.

The Divine Way Through Anxiousness

The way through anxiousness is to keep putting God first... When we put God first we've got nothing to lose. This is because God always wins and when we are on the divine side we stand to win, too. We know this is true by the experiences of our faith. When we were steadfast in our belief in God we pulled through. As we continue on, by putting God first each step of the way as best we can, what is added to us are the gifts of God - those very things we worry about.

Calming the Anxiety Inside the Cave

King David, before he came to be Israel's king, was hemmed in within at least two caves and clearly suffered anxiety. We would too, of course. But, as is recorded in Psalms 57 and 142, David's anxiety became manifest in two dipolar ways. Psalm 142 is more melancholy than Psalm 57. If we imagine being trapped by an enemy, and being worried about being found in our hiding, our mood is bound to dither from cowardice to courage to cowardice and back again, over and over so long as we remain in that situation.

Words cannot touch some grief. There are losses and times of pain where silence is the order of the day. Making Beauty Out of Sadness

The real substance of life is not known through happiness or material bliss or certainties of success. The real substance of life is known only through the processes of hardship, of self-denial, and of the character-refining work that the mature must do in order to become mature. There is no shortcut to maturity. But there is beauty there and there is beauty to be made out of sadness.

After The Affair - Healing The Manipulated Heart

When we discover the men whose socks we pick up off the bathroom floor, whose nose and facial hairs we clean from the bathroom sinks, whose underwear we wash, dry and fold, and tuck neatly in drawers, whose dentist appointments we schedule, and whose meals we cook are having affairs with women whose only duty it is to show up, look nice, smell pretty, and giggle--whose only requirement is to help our husbands behave like cowardly little boys rather than the dedicated, responsible men we thought we were pledging our lives to, it is almost impossible not to fill with rage, and get stuck in the muck feeling deceived can create. We are not responsible for who our husbands portray themselves to be. Nor are we responsible for any woman's lack of moral character and obvious low self esteem, and ferocious ability to live in denial. Why would any woman knowingly settle for someone else's husband when she could just as easily go find a man who could put her first in his life? Wives--for your own beautiful sake--let it go.
