ASPIN COTTON GETS ADOPTED IN CANADA

FEATURE | An adoption center in Bacolod City shared that one of its rescued dogs is now rehomed to her new fur parents in Vancouver, Canada!

Pawssion Project help give Cotton another chance in life after they rescued the aspin from death row in February 2021.

"Cotton used to be so scared and aloof but he continues to remind me that as long as we have faith and as long as we trust good things will come, things always get better," the rescue center said.

The Bacolod City Veterinary Office posted a series of photos on Saturday showing Cotton and her new fur parents.

"She is now living her best life and we hope more dogs will have that chance too," City Veterinary Office wrote in their post.

"Please consider adopting a dog from the pound. #adoptdontshop ," the dog pound added. (Source Daily Guardian)

The Department of Science and Technology Bohol Provincial S&T Office conducted a retraining on the operations and maintenance of RxBox Telehealth Device to the twenty-five (25) Rural Health Unit (RHU) beneficiaries in the province of Bohol attended by sixteen (16) medical doctors, thirty-two (32) nurses, twenty-five (25) midwives, and twenty-one (21) IT personnel last February 3, 2023. The twenty-five (25) RHU  comprised of Antequera, Balilihan, Batuan, Bien Unido, Bilar, Buenavista, Carmen, Catigbian, Dauis, Dimiao, Garcia-Hernandez, Getafe, Guindulman, Inabanga, Lila, Maribojoc, Pres CPG, Sagbayan, San Isidro, San Miguel, Sevilla, Talibon, Trinidad, Ubay and Valencia.

A collaborative effort between the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the University of the Philippines Manila – National Telehealth Center (UP-NTHC), the University of the Philippines Diliman – College of Engineering, and the Department of Health (DOH), RxBox was designed to provide access to life-saving health care services in isolated and disadvantaged communities nationwide. A telemedicine device capable of capturing medical signals through built-in medical sensors, including a BP monitor, Pulse Oximeter, Temperature Sensor, Electronic Fetal Monitoring Sensor, and ECG sensor. The device also stores data in an electronic medical record and transmits health information via the internet to a clinical specialist for expert advice that catalyzes improvement in the local referral system by facilitating teleconsultations (audio-video conferences) within the National Telehealth Service Program.

The retraining aims to refresh doctors and healthcare workers on the operations and maintenance of the RxBox device, which is timely as some doctors and healthcare workers who were previously trained have retired or are no longer connected with the RHU beneficiaries. The presence of RxBox in an RHU will help reduce the overall cost of healthcare for an individual by enabling health workers to diagnose, monitor and treat patients within the rural health facility. #DOST #ScienceForThePeople #OneDOST4U

A Sociable weaver's giant nest in Namibia, probably the most spectacular structure built by any bird.
The Sociable weaver (Philetairus socius) is a species of bird in the weaver family found across South Africa, Namibia and Botswana. This species construct large compound community nests that resemble huts, complete with a sloping thatched-grass roof that sheds rain. These nests are the world's largest and most populated tree houses, with some weighing up to a ton or more and measuring up to 20 feet wide and 10 feet tall.
Built around large and sturdy structures like acacia trees or sometimes even telephone poles, the nests provide shelter from direct sunshine, rain, drought, and cold. They are large enough to house over a hundred pairs of birds, consisting of several generations at a time. Each breeding pairs tends to its own compartment with its private entrance and line the interior with soft downy plant material. These entrances are packed closely together and when seen from below, the communal nest has a honeycomb appearance. These birds are constantly making home improvements, adding new nesting chambers, and some nests have remained occupied for over a century!

When Nikola Tesla was a little boy of about five years old growing up in what is now the Republic of Croatia, he would go to a small stream near his home in Smiljan and test a small water wheel he had built. #OnThisDay in 1959, "chip" co-inventor Jack Kilby filed patent application 'Miniaturized Electronic Circuits'.

Kilby was employed by Texas Instruments and having not earned a vacation, he was left alone in the laboratory during the summer of 1958. He showed that it was possible to fabricate a simple integrated circuit in germanium, a commonly used semiconductor at that time. An integrated circuit, chip, is built up of transistors and other components in a single piece of semiconductor material. Kilby continued his career as an inventor, with some 60 patents. Among other things, he is co-inventor of the pocket calculator, one of the first applications of the integrated circuit. A market survey run before the start of planning for its manufacture showed that interest in a pocket calculator was negligible. After all, people had slide-rules!

Another young engineer, Robert Noyce, developed the circuit as it was later to be manufactured in practice with silicon. They are both considered as the inventors of the integrated circuit, but Robert Noyce died in 1990. Kilby was awarded the 2000 Nobel Prize in Physics.

The blockbuster exhibition bout between Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao and former three-time World Boxing Association (WBA) champion Anthony Mundine is gaining momentum with fighter representatives and sporting bodies giving their approval for the venture.

Mundine is one of the most recognizable sports figures in Australia, considering that he is also a champion rugby footballer, had in the past reiterated that he was interested in competing with the 44-year-old in an exhibition fight.

The 44-year-old was at it again teasing a potential bout by posting a video of Manny Pacquiao Promotions chief executive Sean Gibbons to social networking site Instagram.

In the video Gibbons can be seen thanking the director of Port Moresby-based Oceania Fight Promotions Marrianne Miller, Australia promoter Peter Maniatis and the PNG government for "putting everything together".

"We look forward to hosting everybody very soon in the Philippines to meet with the senator, bring out Anthony Mundine and do a formal press conference and signing for the event," Gibbons stated.

The Papua New Guinea Sports Foundation (PNGSF) is reportedly understood to be keen to host the fight in June, with Oceania Fight Promotions expected to work closely with them in organising the bout.

"We've asked the Government to also invoke the National Events Council to assist because it's a huge event in the 2023 sports calendar. How big is this event? Well does Port Moresby have over 5,000 hotel rooms? That's how big it is because we will have people from around the world coming to watch this fight," PNGSF executive director Albert Veratau said in an interview.

"The Pac Man is an eight-time world champion and legend of the sport. The Man is a former champion as well. Both boxers have never fought in PNG and this will be the one and only time they get to do it."

Pacquiao for his part recently unretired from the sport after initially retiring following his loss to Yordenis Ugas in 2021, with the 44-year-old signing with Japanese Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) promotion RIZIN.

The Filipino legend confirmed that he was keen on facing world champions like Errol Spence and Terence Crawford, though it is unlikely that those bouts will take place considering that he is past his prime.

The historic fight between the duo is set to take place at the Sir John Guise Stadium.

SP pegs dialysis rate when in Bohol-owned hospitals 

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, Feb 3, 2023 (PIA) –With medical insurance coverage notwithstanding, patients with kidneys that are incapable of filtering water and wastes from the blood can get a machine to do that job for their body, and with the hemodialysis in either of the province-owned hospitals and treatment centers, patient stills pays an out-of-the-pocket fee of P1,000, for the injection and medical kits to be used in the process. 

This as the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) is set to formalize the ordinance authored by Board Members Aldner Damalerio and Elpidio Bonita. Damalerio is also the ordinance sponsor. 

Citing Section 129 of the Local Government Code which empowers local government units to seek revenue sources and levy taxes, fees, and charges as well as the power to impose and collect reasonable fees and charges for services rendered, Bohol sees the establishment of its hemodialysis centers in hospitals and medical facilities owned and operated by the provincial government as a kind of investment.

As such, for all patients availing of dialysis treatment services in province-owned hospitals would be collected P2,600.00,  which is equivalent to the Philhealth case rate for dialysis. 

This Philhealth case package includes payments for 4 pieces of arterial or vein Fistula Needle, 4 pieces of single non-sterile gloves, bloodlines, cotton balls, 4 pcs of 4x4 sterile gauze, a 2-inch hypoallergenic plaster, bicarbonate concentrate, AFM 12 Acid Concentrate, 4 bottles of sodium chloride normal saline solution, 2 pcs of Povidone iodine antiseptic 5x 5cm wipes, 2 pcs alcohol pads 70% or swabs, 3 disposable syringes at 10 CC with needles, 3 pcs disposable syringes at 5 cc with needle, one vial of Heparine Sodium at 1000 units per 5ml and Renaline, for reused dialyzer. 

While is amount would not be paid as an out-of-pocket expenditure by the patient but collected from Philhealth as reimbursement, the patient still needs to pay for the Erythropoeitin Injection 4000 UI which costs P800.00, 2 pairs of sterile gloves at P50.00 each, one piece of tourniquet at P50.00, one surgical face mask at P 10.00, a disposable surgical head cap at P20.00 and face shield at P 30.00, for a total of P1,000.00. 

For non PhilHealth patients, at the province-owned hospitals and dialysis treatment centers, a new dialyzer costs P4,800 which is just P2,200 for PhilHealth patients. 

For re-used dialyzers for non PhilHealth patients, cost is P3,600.00, while those with PhilHealth, cost is only at P 1,000.00

Moreover, aside from the P1,000 out of the pocket payment, the patient would also be obliged to pay for the P350,00 professional fees of the medical specialist-Nephrologist, if he is not PhilHealth patient.

And as the PhilHealth covers only 104 dialysis treatment sessions, anything beyond the maximum number of procedures, payment would be collected as the patient's personal expense. 

The ordinance also provides for other applicable additional charges that may be borne by the patients like a new dialyzer: low -flux (P1, 500) hi-flux – (P2, 400), Oxygen (P2,00 L/min), adult Nasal Cannula (P70), Drugs and Medicines, IV catheter (P150), Macro set / Micro set (P110), ECG (P350), Bloodlines (P380) and Laboratory fees that may be charged separately, when patient avails of drugs, dialyzer, supplies, and services.

The readied ordinance also provides for a schedule or mode of payment a patient may avail.

There is actual rate of treatment where patient pays the actual rate of every dialysis treatment. 

If the patient is a PhilHealth member, the patient pays only the remaining balance or excess after deducting the allowable reimbursement on the procedure.

Or there is the pass-on rate per treatment where patients pays a uniform schedule of payment every treatment for a package of 104 treatments over a period of one year. 

If the patient is a PhilHealth member, the total amount of package is reduced by the PhilHealth allowable reimbursements on the procedures of the same year. The remaining balance of the package shall be divided by 104 treatments to determine the rate per treatment.

The ordinance also allows discounts and cost sharing like for senior citizens (SC), Persons with Disabilities (PWD) and PGBh Officers and regular employees of the Provincial Government, they enjoy a maximum of 20% discount on the total amount of the treatment service fee and the laboratory test fee.

In cases where a department or Local Government Unit guarantees to pay a share of the cost for the patients obligations subject to the guidelines on the classification of patients and availment of medical social services, a cost sharing may be availed. (PIA-7/Bohol)

Grower suggests: 'Bring Ubi farming to schools'
TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, Feb 4 2023 (PIA)—For over 20 years of holding Ubi Festivals, the problem still persists: crop production is still and farmers are getting fewer every cropping season. 

As far as the ubi production is concerned and considering that the crop is privileged enough to be mentioned in the Bohol Hymn speaks highly of the need to make this ubiquitous rootcrop a part of every Boholano life and history, cries Ricardo Guiritan, 66 years old ubi farmer and retired master teacher. 

Himself a confessed ubi production trainor in his active days as a government teacher, Guiritan, who has been into farming the ethno-religious crop since his elementary years, brought in to Piskay ni Bay, a suggestion to bring ubi back from the depths to resurface in every Boholano life. 

"Let us bring back the knowledge to the schools," airs the Looc, Panglao farmer who used to partner with then governor Erico Aumentado and the Department of Education to reintroduce ubi farming to the elementary schools. 

Guiritan, who, during those times handled the training of school representatives in Bohol's 47 towns and city as well as some Korean investors, recalled that the plan was to reteach elementary pupils on the rudimentary skills needed to grow ubi, harvest and germinate from this harvest. 

Bringing to the 23rd Ubi Festival some 400 kilos of harvest of white ubi varieties as iniling or kabawoy, kabus-ok which is famed kapung-oy in Panglao, tam-isan, binato, binanag, binugas, and gimnay, Guiritan, along with ubi growers all over Bohol gathered at the old Tagbilaran City airport for the annual Ubi festival and bulk selling. 

Growers also brought in their choice purple ubi varieties in kinampay and baligonhon. 

Younger generation of Boholano ubi growers in fact interchange kinampay and baligonhon. 

One is that variety which has pure purple starchy meat and another has white with reddish purple spots that stain into white varieties when cooked and mashed into the popular ubi-jam sitting on top of your usual halo-halo refreshment. 

At the festival where growers bring out their best harvest for the contests, Guiritan claimed the heaviest tam-isan this year, his entry weighing 12 kilos. 

There are much heavier tam-isan entries like we had in the past, but those, he claimed have been replanted whole so as to preserve for the next year's contest. 

His 12 kilo-entry is a 6 month crop, and considering it was tam-isan, it cooks rather fast, he said claiming further that it could even cook faster than sweet yam (camote). 

Those ubi which are grown for over a planting season cooks slow and loses its usual starchy-creamy taste characteristic of a crop in its usual 6 months cycle. 

"Koreans have asked why they could not grow their ubi," he shared goaded by the banter during the interview. 

They could never grow, not because of the soil they are using, but because they planted when it was not ubi planting season months, he explained. 

Growing ubi in a 1.2 hectares of plains, Gurirtan said he has abandoned the practice of planting ubi in a trellis, as that is more costly than dam-ok, or just allowing the ubi to crawl over the mounds or hutok.

In his 1.2 hectares, he estimates a harvest of P32,000 at the very least, which to him is not bad considering that hardwork in land preparation for his ubihan can take less than a month.

Ubi, although considerably a simple crop to grow, can also be very sensitive, one that has to be learned well to be profitable, he stressed. 

And there can be no better place to get that knowledge than in the schools, especially taught to young kids who will grow to see the economic benefits of agriculture seeing the already handsome price that ubi is bringing in the market. 

I propose that every school can keep around 100 mounds, and let students take care of the preparation of growing the crop, learning its characteristics and preparing the seedling for the next year's cropping, he said. (rahc/PIA-7/Bohol)

Medill DC, Amanda Bossard. Chief Justice John Roberts, like Justice Clarence Thomas, faces questions about potential conflicts of interest arising from his spouse's work. A new federal law makes it harder for journalists to report on similar ethical concerns in the lower courts. 

Public records laws are vital to transparency and democracy. That's why we're deeply disturbed by a number of tactics government agencies have recently employed to circumvent their obligations.

This new wave of anti-transparency measures seems bolder than past practices of, for example, abusing exemptions to open records laws or delaying responses to requests until the records lose their newsworthiness. 

Our blog highlighted examples ranging from state lawmakers proclaiming themselves exempt from open records requirements to military courts ignoring the law to avoid transparency during court martials to state and federal legislatures obstructing media access to their legislative chambers. And we previously wrote about the new federal law that allows judges to scrub potential ethical violations from the internet.

These innovative anti-transparency efforts don't mean that officials have given up on tried and true avoidance tactics like price gouging. A Nebraska environmental agency, for example, wants to bill the Flatwater Free Press $44,000 to comply with a records request. Thankfully, the Free Press is suing, but litigation likely means more delay.

SLAPPs target discussion of campaign contributions
Wealthy campaign financiers love the First Amendment when they're looking to avoid regulation but not so much when they get criticized. 

Billionaire Kelcy Warren is suing former Congressman Beto O'Rourke over comments connecting Warren's $1 million donation to Gov. Greg Abbot to legislation allowing gas companies like Warren's to opt out of weatherization requirements. His case may end up in front of Texas Supreme Court justices whose campaigns Warren also backed.

We explained to The Lever that "the press and public are entitled to discuss the functioning of the judiciary" and the potential conflicts among the justices "only underscore the need for people to be able to speak freely about campaign contributions," which Warren's lawsuit, if successful, would undermine.

Alfredo Hubalde played college ball for the Mapúa Institute of Technology before eventually moving on to play professional basketball in the PBA in 1975.
Freddie Hubalde started his PBA career with the Crispa Redmanizers, and he was part of two Crispa grand slam teams in 1976 and 1983.
He was a silent type of player but reliable offensive player who could easily turn the game around with his deadly shooting both from the perimeter and in his later years in the PBA, He can drained from three-point range too.
He became famous for his off-the-glass jumpers
(Pa-Banda Na Tira) and his patented move of tight undergoal stab (Padukot Na Tira)
On defense, He utilized his patented "back tap" stripping the ball from the player guarding  him.
He was the 1977 PBA MVP, Freddie Hubalde played for Crispa on that year and he played a total of 64 games in 1977 season and he averaged of 17.28 PPG.
When Crispa Redmanizers disbanded at the end of the 1984 season, Hubalde and other Crispa teammates like Abet Guidaben, Padim Israel, Tito Varela moved to Tanduay Rhum Makers in 1985 and transformed the team right away into a playoff contender. Tanduay made it the semis twice in 1985 season.
In the 1986 PBA 12th season Reinforced Conference (1st Conf.) He and Ramon Fernandez and with supporting casts of shooting guard Tony Torrente, point guards Willie Generalao and Onchie Dela Cruz forwards JB Yango and Padim Israel and imports Rob Williams and Andre McKoy, finally they gave the Tanduay Franchise their first ever PBA title. With his steady play and clutch shooting, again he led Tanduay to its second championships in the following conference, by capturing the All-Filipino Title at the expense of Robert Jaworski and Ginebra San Miguel. Hubalde had his bright moments for the franchise, contributing 21.2 points per game in the All-Filipino conference..In the particular game of title-clinching game, he calmly sank two free throws off a Jaworski foul in the waning seconds to win the game for Tanduay Rhum Makers.
In the 1987 PBA 13th season, they dominated the 1987 Open Conference
(1st Conf.) with former Boston Celtics David Thirdkill as import en route to Tanduay's 3rd championship in the last four conferences.
That would be Freddie Hubalde 16th and last championship..
(He won 13 with Crispa and 3 with Tanduay) in the PBA, making him the second winningest player (16 titles) behind Ramon Fernandez 19 titles.
When Tanduay Elizalde owned franchise announced that they are taking a leave of absence from the PBA, Hubalde was one of the players acquired by New Team Purefoods Hotdogs, He played only 2 conferences for the Hotdogs befote he transfered to Shell in the 3rd Conf.(Reinforced Conf ).He played for Formula Shell up to 1989. He last played for Añejo in 1990. Overall, He played 16 seasons in the PBA.

The U.S. Pentagon soon confirmed that this was a Chinese spy balloon, although the Chinese government has claimed it is a civilian meteorological balloon blown off course. The Painters were known as the first basketball dynasty in the Philippines, having dominated MICAA and BAP tournaments during the 1950s to early 1960s. The team's most famous player was Carlos Loyzaga, considered as the greatest Filipino basketball player of his time. It made basketball history by winning seven consecutive National Open championships (1954-1960), seven MICAA titles and the first grandslam in Philippine basketball (1954), when the Painters wrapped the National Open, MICAA and Challenge to Champions diadems, including winning 95 out of 109 games.
When Elizalde & Co., Inc. became one of nine companies that formed the professional Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) in 1975, the YCO franchise was retained in the amateur ranks and elevated most of its YCO players to their professional PBA franchise, named Tanduay.
The YCO franchise ended with the closure of the MICAA in 1982.

Rivalry with Ysmael Steel Admirals
The Painters were best remembered for its rivalry with the Ysmael Steel Admirals from 1958 to 1967. The Painters and the Admirals would split the MICAA championships in the first four years of the 1960s playing against each other, The Painters won in 1960 and 1963 and the Admirals in 1961–1962.
During the 1961 MICAA finals, with the best-of-three series tied at 1-1, YCO defaulted the game for refusing to play in the final game at the Araneta Coliseum and the Admirals were declared champions.
The Admirals disbanded after winning the 1967 MICAA crown.

I'm told that chemo, radiotherapy (and immunotherapy) treatment, can take years until you feel alive again ... With the side effects of chemo and radiation, you will never be 100% again because your immune system is weak. Ruins marriages, families and relationships with friends.  Because you're not the same again after cancer and treatments.

In the hardest moments you know who your real friends are or who the people are who appreciate you.

Unfortunately, like with most friendships, Facebook friends will leave you in the middle of a story. They want a post to ′′like′′ for the story, but they don't really read your message when they see it is long.

More than half have stopped reading.

Someone may have already gone to the next post in their newsfeed.

I have decided to publish this post in support of close family, friends and relatives who have fought this horrible disease.

Now I'm focusing on those who take the time to read this post to the end ... a little test, just to see who reads and who shares without reading.

Cancer is a very aggressive and destructive enemy of our bodies.

Even after treatment, the body is devastated. It's a very long process.

I would like to know who I can count on and who takes the time to read this.

When you have finished this, write ′′Done′′ in the comments.

Sadly, cancer is still the illness of the century.

Please, in honour of someone who died, or who is battling cancer. Everyone says, ′′If you need anything, don't hesitate: I'll be there for you.′′

So I'm going to make a bet, without being pessimistic: I know my family and friends will put it on their wall. You just have to copy. I did it for someone very, very, special!

We all know someone who stood before us, and who has fought or who is fighting this battle.

On today's date January 25, 1783 William Colgate, who founded the well known personal hygiene product company, was born in Hollingbourne, Kent, England. His family would later move to America and settle in Maryland...

"William Colgate attended one of the best
schools in Baltimore for the first two years of his life in America. This training, added to the discipline of his boyhood in England, completed his school education. At the age of fifteen he entered upon the earnest work of life. At seventeen he in a humble way, with scarcely any capital or credit, engaged in the soap-and-candle business in Baltimore. At that time manufacturers were greatly needed in all the growing cities of the New World.

By a kind of instinct of great possibilities, and
the inspiration of great purposes, and perhaps to escape embarrassing associations with the business misfortunes of the family in Baltimore, young Colgate decided to make the metropolis of the country his home and place of business. In 1804, at the age of eighteen, he came, first to Mamaroneck, and, after a brief sojourn there, to New York City, and there began, with neither money, credit, nor friends, his illustrious business career.

The secret of his success is disclosed in the principles which governed him. He determined first to master in all its methods and appliances the business he had chosen.

Almost immediately upon his arrival in New
York, early one morning he applied at the counting-room of John Slidel & Co., then the largest tallow-chandlers in the city, located at 50 Broadway. There was no vacancy in the establishment, but Mr. Slidel, struck with the open, honest face of the applicant, offered him a place as assistant clerk.

The young Englishman thanked him for his
kind proposal, but most respectfully declined it, remarking, "I desire, sir, to learn the business. I wish to work to earn a living for myself. Any one can assist a clerk, but I wish to know how to work."

There is the secret of success in the great competitions of business, for the skilled workman naturally acquires control. In old-established houses on both sides of the sea it is more and more felt that only through the discipline of the apprentice and the skilled journeyman can one safely assume the direction of a great manufacturing of commercial house. Capital without skill can never keep pace with capital supplemented by skill. For lack of this combination hundreds of adventurous business-houses have failed.

Mr. Slidel was so much pleased with the frankness of young Colgate, and his ambition to master a business, that he called his foreman and said, "Give this young man work; show him everything about the business. He will be of great service to you."

The salary proposed was small, but it was the
business he sought, and in a short time he became an expert in it. He was transferred from the manufacturing to the sales department, and soon grasped its commercial methods, so that at the end of three years, when the firm was changed, William Colgate became its principal business manager. In 1806, at the age of twenty-three, he started in the chandlery business in Dutch Street..."

Rep., 327) should govern. Judgment denying right of plaintiff to register land in question affirmed.

On the 29th day of June, 1905, the Examiner of Titles of said court, to whom the question of the title of the plaintiff had been referred, made the following report:
"1.— La Ciudad de Manila solicitante no acompaña documento alguno de propiedad en su solicitud.

"2.o En el Registro de la Propiedad no constan actos ni contratos que se opongan al titulo de la entidad solicitante; ni de las investigaciones practicades resultan hechos contrarios a los contenidos en la solicitum.  Pueden tenerse por buenos lis actuales linderos de la finca.

On the 23rd day of October, 1905, the Solicitor General, representing the Insular Government, filed the following opposition to the registration of said land in favor of the plaintiff and appellant:
"I.— Que la Ciudad de Manila solicita que, conforme a la Ley del Rigistro de la Propiedad, se inscriba un terreno situado en el Distrito de Malate, del que se alega ser dueña absolute y cuya descripcion se detalla en la solicitud.

"II.—Que el terreno de que se trata es de la propiedad del Gobierno de los Estados Unidos bajo el control del Gobierno Insular.

"En su virtud, se opone a la inscripcion solicitada y suplica al Tribunal se sirva denegar la peticion con costas.

It was mutually agreed between the respective parties to this action that the facts relating to the title of the plaintiff in this case are exactly the same as in Case No. 3299 (Case 1510 in the lower court.)

On the 5th day December, 1905, the lower court, following its decision in said Case No. 3299 (1510), denied the registration of said land in favor of the plaintiff.  From this decision the plaintiff appealed to this court.  In this court the plaintiff and appellant made the same assignments of error and filed the same proof supported by the same arguments which were filed in said Case No.  3299 (1510).

On the 29th of October, 1907, the attorneys for the respective parties filed a stipulation in this case (No. 3300) to the effect that the conclusions by this court in causes 3279 and 3299 should govern in this decision.

Therefore, for the reasons stated in Case No.  3279, the judgment of the lower court is hereby affirmed, with costs.

4. you can find kindness everywhere, even from strangers

If you take a step out of your own world for even a moment, you will notice that you are not alone. The most serious problem is that we cannot talk freely about ourselves, our lives, and our issues. You are not alone in the universe. There are people who would happily assist you if you were willing to be vulnerable.

5. One good friend

"The greatest thing you will ever do is be loved by another person" — repeat this sentence until you realise that love and friendship are the best medicine.

I cannot emphasise this enough, especially to young people. Without friendship, a human being is lost. A friend is someone who reminds you to feel alive.

6. Education is a lifesaver

I do not mean formal education when I use the word "education". Yes, formal education is fantastic and brings great opportunities, but life education is much more critical. Understanding the laws of human nature, being mindful of worldviews, and knowing how to connect so that your voice is heard are all examples of life education. To be self-sufficient and not depend on others for a good life.

You may not be able to change the world because it is beyond your power, but you can change yourself. Change is possible, despite what you can believe, but it requires discipline.

THE MAN IN WHITE

Si Coach Tito Eduque ay tubo sa mga probinsya ng Capiz at Batangas. Ipinanganak noong Agosto 26,1927.

Tito was a basketball star during Japanese occupation , naglaro ito sa Knights of Columbus League. Naglaro sa La Salle noong High School then nag transferred siya sa UST and played for the varsity  that won the UAAP crown in 1946 at nakasama niya doon sina Francisco Vestil,Col. Julian Malonzo,Pocholo Matinez,Francisco Nepomuceno, Campos at Dr. Jose Genato.

Noong 1947 ay nagbalik ito sa La Salle at pinangunahan ang Green Archers na sungkitin ang titulo kasama sina Eddie Decena ,Jose Mendieta, Jun Inigo,Jess Pimentel at Lino Castillejo.

Noong 1948 London Olympics si Tito ay ang ating official scorer of the Phil Team. Ang mga manlalaro noon na delegado ay sina Vestil,Campos, Manolet Araneta,Decena, magkapatid na Fely at Gabby Fajardo ,Ding Fulgencio at iba pa.

Nagtapos si "Man in White" nang komersyo noong 1951 at noong 1952 ay nakapaglaro ito sa YCO from  1952-57 na may multiple na championship under Coach Leo Prieto na humalili siya bilang Playing Coach ng YCO.

Nagcoach din sya ng Phil Team noong 1964 para sa qualifying for Tokyo Olympics.

Noong 1973 he piloted the Phil Team in CHAMPIONSHIP at Manila sa Asian Basketball Confederation na doon naging player nya sina Jaworski,Arnaiz, Fernandez,Paner,Reynoso,Guidaben,Adornado ,Regullano at iba pa.

Nag coach din ito sa MICAA sa Concepcion Motorola at Mariwasa kung saan ay nakakuha din ng kampeonato

Nagtimon di ito ng mg team sa PBA gaya ng Concepcion ,Mariwasa, Tanduay at Manila Beer.

Pumanaw noong ika -8 ng Nobyembre 2001 sanhi ng Kanser.

10 intriguing facts you might not know about the world's first controlled release of nuclear energy.
The world's first self-sustaining controlled nuclear chain reactor took place at the University of Chicago on December 2, 1942.

Chicago Pile-1 was the world's first nuclear reactor to go critical.

49 scientists led by Enrico Fermi, were present for the event. Leona Marshall was the lone female researcher.

The reactor was built with graphite blocks, some of which contained small disks of uranium.

Scientists monitored the reaction on instruments named after Winnie the Pooh characters—Piglet, Tigger and Pooh.

Scientist George Weil withdrew the cadmium-plated control rod unleashing the first controlled chain reaction.

The reactor had three sets of control rods. One was automatic and could be controlled from the balcony. Another was an emergency safety rod. The third rod (operated by Weil) actually held the reaction in check until it was withdrawn the proper distance.

The group celebrated with a bottle of Chianti that was poured into paper cups. Most of the participants signed the wine bottle's label. This was the only written record of who had taken part in the experiment.

In the lead up to this experiment, a letter from Albert Einstein to President Franklin D. Roosevelt helped lead to the Manhattan Project—a government research project that produced the first atomic bombs. It was also the seed that grew into the modern U.S. Department of Energy national laboratory system.

The Energy Department's Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory is named in honor of Enrico Fermi for his contributions to nuclear physics and scientific success at nearby University of Chicago.

In 1959, an 18 year old Bruce Lee moved to San Francisco, California to live with his sister. A few months later Bruce Lee moved to Seattle to finish high school, and worked in a Chinese restaurant. After finishing high school Lee enrolled at the University of Washington in drama, while also studying philosophy, psychology, and other subjects. He met Linda, a fellow student at U. of W. and married in 1964.

During this period of 1959 to 1964 Bruce Lee also taught martial arts to various people. Bruce was essentially teaching his version of Kung Fu. You should be starting to understand who Bruce Lee was. Obviously, Bruce was a rebel, and did not conform to traditions. Bruce Lee made his own way in the world and shaped the martial arts to his vision. We are all enriched by this. Bruce Lee later created a martial arts style called, "Jeet Kun Do", which he called a style without a style.

Let's look at the state of martial arts in the United States in the 1950's and 1960's. Robert Trias brought his form of Okinawan karate to the U.S.A. in 1947, which he called Okinawan Shuri Ryu Karate. Robert Trias formed the first karate association, the United States Karate Association (USKA) in 1947. The American Karate Association (AKA) was formed in 1964. These styles were based more on the Okinawan/Japanese forms, but evolved into more of an Americanized style. Basically, you had servicemen who served in the World War II in the Pacific and brought what they learned in Okinawan and Japan, mixed it with boxing and judo, and gave it a new name. A good example is Ed Parker who grew up in Hawaii and learned boxing and judo. He later trained in Kenpo karate, and then created a style called "American Kenpo". The traditional Kenpo form used very linear movements. Ed Parker added some more circular moves in his "American Kenpo" which is more in line with Chinese Kung Fu and some of the Okinawan forms. It was in the 1960's when Tae Kwon Do was exported around the world and arrived in the U.S.A. This made for some interesting times, with so many different styles and an ongoing evolution of these styles. It is not surprising that one ongoing movie theme is to pit one martial style against another. Each school has to justify why its style is better than another.

It was in this creative and evolving stew of martial arts, that Bruce Lee arrived on the scene. Chinese Kung Fu forms were fairly unknown, and were greatly overshadowed by the various karate forms. Rather than conform to a rigid style system or forms, Bruce Lee focused on what technique worked. What is effective? What is efficient? How do you adapt to different fighters and fighting styles? It was this form, without form, that is the basis for Bruce Lee's style - Jeet Kune Do.

DEAD SEA LAND MARATHON

Want to join the 2023 marathon at the lowest place in the world - the Dead Sea?

The 2023 marathon season will start on 03.02.2023 at Ein Bokek Beach in the Tamar Regional Council, Dead Sea Land. All runners will run straight onto the sea towards the border with Jordan, on a dirt embankment that has never been trodden on and which has been specially adapted for the use of marathon participants. All routes are circular, with minimum asphalt.

Kawasaki announced its delivery of H145//BK117 D-3 helicopter ("D-3") to Central Helicopter Service, Ltd.. This is the second D-3 delivered to the same company, and with the first D-3 it is intended for use in emergency medical services. Kawasaki has delivered 6 D-3s thus far.
　
The BK117 is a medium-sized, twin-engine helicopter developed jointly with European company Airbus Helicopters, and is used for various purposes including emergency medical services, firefighting, disaster relief, law enforcement, broadcasting, and personnel and cargo transport. Following delivery of the first model in 1983, this helicopter has been continually improved over the years, and thanks to the aircraft's outstanding technological strengths and high reliability, Kawasaki has successfully delivered 189 units as of today, and more than 1,700 worldwide with deliveries of Airbus Helicopters combined．
　
Kawasaki will continue to improve the BK117 helicopter, including the development of new optional equipment for various applications. It's death anniversary of Padma Bhushan, professor Bhabha, father of Indian nuclear power programme

Bhabha studied engineering, mathematics and physics at the University of #Cambridge, before choosing to specialize in #nuclear physics and #cosmic rays. At an age of 31,  he was elected as a fellow of the Royal Society, London. Bhabha rubbed shoulders with great physicists like  #Bohr, #Pauli, #Dirac, #Cockcroft and others, who later became Noble Laureates.

He gained international prominence after deriving a correct expression for the probability of scattering #positrons by #electrons, a process now known as Bhabha #scattering (look the shown image). The Bhabha scattering rate is used as a luminosity monitor in electron-positron colliders. His major contribution included his work on Compton scattering, R-process, and furthermore the advancement of nuclear physics.

He was the founding director of Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) in 1945 and Trombay Atomic Energy Establishment (later renamed Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, in his memory).
