Ang atong manok Bisaya, manok Tagalog ang ngalan didto. Both phrases mean "native chicken". Kanang free-range ba, saboran lang.
#2303
Nagsugod na kog pamista kagabii. Bisperas man gahapon sa Sandingan Island (5 of 8 barangays).

Bitaw pud diay no?

Remember the Mabini tragedy? There is an indie movie about it that will be shown in theaters. Entitled "Kamoteng Kahoy", it is directed by Maryo J. delos Reyes, and stars Nash Aguas, Robert “Buboy” Villar, Gloria Romero, Yul Servo, Ana Capri, Marissa Sanchez, Anton Bernardo, Gerald Madrid, Julio Pisk, Sharlene San Pedro and Irma Adlawan. Plot: Based on a true story which happened in a small barrio in Bohol in 2007 where 21 pupils died and almost a hundred were hospitalized after eating cassava cakes sold by an old woman who might have accidentally used a pesticide with the ingredients. (Thanks to Ricky Lo for the information.)

Makalibog jud bitaw, kay si KC extraordinarily pretty jud sya sa TV pero sa actual, ordinarily pretty lang, although ang iyang sunshiny disposition and sincerity make her more beautiful in person.

Mouli kay:

1.  Naay ikaplete
9.  Kay mao na lay nahibiling Bol-anon sa gitrabaho-an o gipuy-an
10. Kay mahadlok gabaan kon naay gipanaad
11. Aron mabayran ang bandehaay
12. Aron makahapit og duaw sa menteryo, civil registrar, assessor, etc.
13. Aron makadala og bring house nga adobo, mantika sa baboy, tableya, ug uban pa.

Pamatyon ang mo discriminate!!! Joke, of course! Kon naay cultural performances, mobayad sila, walay libre. Kon naay tour, mobayad pud, walay libre. We can provide the services but at cost.

#2319
#2322
Sa bukid tingali to sa Tan-awan, mao man nay kinahabugan sa Loon.
#2323
Unsa pa may nahibiling Binisaya ani? Nga, matud pa "halo-halo" (Tagalog pud) na man.
In the year 3000, language researchers will try to rediscover the dead language called Binisaya.
#2325

BnC, wow nindot paminawon. ;D  Kuyawa god na diay...modern and progressive!  Mora wa gani na sa Tagbilaran kay sa ahong last visit sa ahong ex-officemates sa Capitol, ako may gadala ug painit. It was nice for the ladies selling their goods like puto, budbod and etc. kay mahalinan man pod noun. Never been yet in Catigbian, one of my exes originated from that town mga Saletrero.

Kanang mga Saletrero jud Bambs, gikan jud na silag Loon, particularly some upland barangays like Badbad. Engr. Soc Saletrero, a former officemate, is from Baang, Catigbian. Ang ilang mga forefathers settled there due to agricultural opportunities. Sa panahon sa mga Amerikano gi implement ang Homestead Law which opened Bohol's public and untitled lands to agriculture. Mag research pa ko ani why most of those who benefitted from the law were Loonanons. This explains why many yutaan nga mga Loonanon are now residents of San Miguel, Danao, Dagohoy, Catigbian, mostly interior towns. One of my elder sisters was, in fact, born in Alegria, Catigbian where my father once tilled a land offered to him by a Loonanon beneficiary of that law. Some Loonanons even became mayors of San Miguel (Gencianos?)and Dagohoy (Relampagos). Of course Calape had one (Venancio Nazareno?), as well as Catigbian (Salinas) and Tubigon (Lasco).

In fact ang Municipal Treasurer ug Municipal Assessor sa Calape karon taga Loon man.

Layo ang Sogod to Maasin. Here are the recommended routes:

Sogod to Bato via Bontoc (bus or private vehicle, 45 minutes) + Bato to Ubay (roll-on, roll-off or RORO, 3 hours) + Ubay to Tagbilaran (van, P120, about 2 hours; or bus, P90-100, about 3 hours). Note: MegaBuses from Cubao go direct to Tagbilaran via this route. They pass by the terminal in Sogod.

If via Cebu: Sogod to either Bato, Hilongos, Baybay or Ormoc. All ports of entry have evening trips to Cebu. Hilongos and Ormoc also have daytime trips. Cebu to Tagbilaran via fastcraft (pier 1 or pier 4, P700, 1.5 hours), or Cebu to Tubigon via the regular boats (Pier 3, P200, 2 hours) or fastcraft (pier 1, P200, 45 minutes). Tubigon to Tagbilaran by bus (P60, 1.5 hours) or van (P90, 50 minutes). Lately, because of stiff competition (like the entry of the fastcraft), some shipping companies offer free transport (yes, FREE!) or much reduced fare. The Cebu-Tubigon route has the most number of schedules, I think more than ten round trips a day!

Olivia Manding-Lamasan, movie scriptwriter and director. Walay laing lugar ang mga Manding. Mga tumindok jud ni sila sa Bohol.

ricardo "ric ric" marata is from iligan city in mindanao. he studied college in Cebu. his brother bong marata is also a former MBA and PBA player who happens to play for cebu before settling in Manila as a UP Maroon.

edgay "egay" macaraya traces his roots in bohol. he's one of the deadliest shooters during his playing days. he's the coach of SSC-Cavite and now the head coach of Licealiz Hair Doctors of the PBL (formerly Hapee Complete Protectors).

Cyrus "Skyrus" Baguio is also a pure Iliganon. He's the nephew of ric ric and bong marata. although baguio played high school ball in Cebu for the DBTC greywolves before transferring to UST.

That's true, but Ricric Marata's mother is from Tontonan, Loon, Bohol.  This makes Baguio a Bol-anon, too. Another Iliganon (actually a former Miss Iligan) is Noela "Ella" Buhion Evangelista, a Bb. Pilipinas runner-up. Both her parents come from Bohol.  I think she won an international beauty crown.

Daghang baryo sa Bohol nagsugod sa syllable nga "Ca-" or "Can-", to mean "belonging to", like Candavid, Can-omay, Canmaag, Cantakoy, etc.  Ang "Can-" mahimong "Cam- " kon ang sunod nga syllable magsugod sa letter "p" or "b", like Cambinocot, Campatud, Cambaquiz, etc.

MABINI; from Apolinario Mabini

Filipino nationalist and theorist of the Philippine revolution against Spanish colonial rule. Born into a peasant family in Batangas, Luzon Island, Mabini worked as a teacher before graduating in law from the University of Santo Tomás in 1894. He practiced briefly as a lawyer before joining the nationalist movement, led by Emilio Aguinaldo, in 1896. In the same year he was crippled by poliomyelitis, which may have saved him from execution by the Spanish, who arrested him that year. Mabini became the “brains of the revolution.” His hope was, when the Spanish-American War broke out in 1898, the United States would help secure independence for the Philippines from Spanish rule. He cautioned Aguinaldo against making a hasty declaration of independence, although this advice was ignored and the declaration was made in June 1898. Inspired by the French and American revolutions, Mabini drafted a democratic constitution for the Philippines. His ideas were not, however, incorporated in the constitution adopted at Malolos in 1898. Mabini’s intention of giving strong powers to the executive was rejected by the wealthier supporters of independence. Nor were his ideas on the separation of church and state acceptable. Mabini’s hopes of abolishing lotteries, liquor, cock-fighting pits, and capital punishment (except for military insubordination) were also doomed.

I asked a lot of Catigbianons (and even non-Catigbianons) what is the English name for the "katigbi" plant. Nobody has ever given me the correct answer.  Can you?  I used to play with its seeds when I was a child. I told one SB member of Catigbian the answer. He was excited. I forgot his name, though. Maybe today a lot of Catigbianons already know the English name of this "lachrymal fluids of a biblical character" (the name is always plural in form).

He is not a pure Catigbianon. His father Juan Paraguya Salinas is pure Loonanon. Both the Paraguya and the Salinas clans are from Loon. Have you ever wondered why there is no other Salinas family in Catigbian other than his parents' ? His father settled in Catigbian, his mother's hometown.

Pero di mi personal friend kay mag grupo grupo ra man gyud ang mga participants kaniadto according to school or town.

That picture of Cabilao shows a beachfront in Barangay Looc. Cabilao has quite a few resorts. I have been to all the resorts there: Cabilao Beach Crown, Bamboo Reef Resort, La Estrella Beach Resort, and Polaris Beach Resort.  Salamat sa mga donors! These resorts have dive centers with instructors.

I have been to Moalong River countless of times as a freelance tour guide. Nindot ug limpyo ang tubig . It is not stagnant.  Unsaon gud pagka stagnant ana nga mga waterfalls man ang unahan anang Moalong River? Nagbusawak gyud ang tubig upstream. Kanang green sa tubig reflection kana siya sa greenery in both banks of the river, attesting sa katin-aw sa tubig.  I have never been to a river in Bohol that is cleaner than Moalong. Mao poy comment sa akong mga bisita. Tingali because walay mga balay on the banks of the river hangtud paitaas.  What makes the river more beautiful is that on some stretches, naay canopy of trees nga molandong sa suba.

For a time, he resided in Cebu City. Pwede pud taga Amerika si Luke kay taga didto man iyang papa.  Kanang claim nga Dauis, morag karon pa ko ana.  Tingalig naa siyay paryente didto, unya nakabakasyon lag duha ka adlaw, he he he.

Asa dapit ning mga kalumboyan sa Lila. Fruit-picking season na ba?
#2376
Good news! Drop sa Canmaag, then walk to the falls.

Labtingaw is any fresh fish nga ibulad then pritohon dayon inig kagabii. Mas lami kon i-marinate inig ka gabii, then ibulad pagka ugma, pritohon pagka gabii. Ang marinade pwede toyo, suka, ahos, sibuyas, laurel, other pahumot. Mas lami man jud ning pinabilangkad, he he he.

Wow! That will be most interesting, ha ha ha. Then, magluto nya kag binagow, ha? atong bawnon.

Who's Who of Bohol / BOHOLANOS IN BUSINESS
March 27, 2009, 11:49:51 PM
8 Filipinos, a Boholano among them, join ranks of international franchise professionals (Philippine Star, March 10, 2009)

MANILA, Philippines - Eight more Filipinos joined the 2009 elite roster of newly-designated Certified Franchise Executives (CFE) in a graduation ceremony held recently at the International Franchise Association’s (IFA) 49th Annual Convention in San Diego, California. This brings to 27 the total Filipino CFE graduates since the course was introduced in the Philippines in 2001.

PFA president Robert F. Trota (president-Max’s Restaurant), who represented the Association at the biggest franchising gathering in the US, led this year’s pool of graduates from the Philippines which include Elizabeth Pardo-Orbeta (Wendy’s); Consuelo Santos (Jollibee); Virgilio Espeleta, a chemical engineer from Getafe (Julie’s Bakeshop); Rosalinda Deres (Goldilocks); Christine Casanova (Francorp); Emmanuel Viado (Julie’sBakeshop); Mercedes Pascasio (Francorp); and, Federico Moreno (Ystilo Salon).

The CFE graduation is integrated in the 49th IFA convention which had former President Bill Clinton as keynote speaker. Held at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego, this year’s gathering was attended by more than 3,000 international franchise executives and enthusiasts. PFA, being a member of the World Franchise Council, was invited to participate in the IFA Convention.

The CFE program which is run by the Institute of Certified Franchise Executives (ICFE) under the US-based International Franchise Association (IFA) is a mini-MBA in Franchise Management, a professional development program for franchise executives. Outside the US, PFA was the first institution accredited by the ICFE to offer some of the courses in order to earn points for the completion of the program. At present, more than 50 Filipinos are enrolled in the program.

Loon - Bohol / Re: Kidnapping of Small Kids in Bohol

It was unfair for the media in Tagbilaran to lambast the teacher of that eight-year-old boy who, at that time of the incident, was still on his way to the school for his afternoon classes. Kalooy ni ma'am. The kidnapping attempt happened outside the school premises. The barangay captain of Moto Sur should have been responsible. Instead, he went to media and complained against the teacher. That is not fair, di ba? I heard, anak sa kapitan ang bata.

Agusan and Sagay to have their own river cruises? I have been to both places and their rivers are very big. Dili kaayo ka maka commune with nature. Well, di pud ka maka ingon nga nature kay daghan mag balay ang both banks of the rivers. The Loboc River Cruise has the advantages of also experiencing the rich culture of the people especially its music and built heritage.

Competetive na pud sa Can-upao-made kalamay ang kadtong made in Alburquerque nga akong natilawan. For convenience inig travel, mas ok ang naa sa plastic canister.

A Loonanon friend of mine told me that someone from the town's Barangay Catagbacan is more popularly called Santos kay mao kuno niy iyang pangita, ang pagpangawat og mga imahen sa mga simbahan sa Bohol.

Kalamay trivia:

Jagna-made kalamay is produced in Barangay Can-upao only.  So, when you go to BQ, look for the seal with the Can-upao mark.  Notice that the cocoshells used in Jagna are small. It is because they are bought from Misamis Occidental where certain coco varieties have small "bagol". Most of the varieties in Bohol have big cocoshell. Using them would mean an expensive but less saleable product.  Most kalamays sold at the Tagbilaran port are made in Alburquerque. Those at Tubigon pier are also made in Alburquerque, but some Tubignons are now producing kalamays in their hometown.  Packaging kalamay in plastic canisters is a recent trend triggered by the unavailability of small cocoshells. I tried eating one made in Alburquerque and it tasted real good. Also, it did not harden when placed inside the fridge.

Mas makurat man hinoon ta nga naa tay madiskubrehan nga wala pa mahibaw-i o maadtu-i sa kadaghanan, sama nianang lanaw nga lunlun latu, i repeat "lunlun jud latu" ang iyahang lakebed. On the same small lake, makakita pud kag gagmay nga mga pasayan nga pula nang daan wala pa gani lutu-a. Search the net for reservations: La Estrela Beach Resort, Cabilao Beach Crown (or Club) and Polaris Beach Resort and Dive Center. The last one has a pool and airconditioned rooms.  Di ko PR man nila ha, I just want you to be comfortable when you get there.

The only one of its kind man tingali ni sa tibuuk kalibutan, ha ha ha!

Daku man na nga lake.
