nagsige kog pangita ug "defense" sa atong (catholics) reverence for images and icons kay akong kaatbang ganina mga american friends nga jehovah's witnesses.  do i love discussing the bible with them!  i learn much just by being open to new ways of looking at things.  i've told them long ago though that i'm a catholic and will always be one.  enjoy man sad tingali sila uroy ug istorya nako.

it's plain and simple. they want to convert you. lol.

and how did your bible-based discussions go?

Truly, this is more desecration than celebration of the Saint. These types of actions are deplorable.

I am finishing up the requirements of my dual M.D-Ph.D program, Sir Rald.

Next time, Sir Rald, we should meet up. Sayang wala ta ka meet up sa last year. If you were in Guindulman last summer, then you probably saw me driving around your beautiful town. I frequented Guindulman last year. Duol duol ra man gud sa Valencia ;)

In the Old Testament, The Lord God ordered Moses to instruct Aaron, the first High Priest, to burn and offer Incense before the Altar of the Lord.
The offering of Incense, as with the offer of prayer, has always been part of Worship of the Most High.

---

"For burning incense you shall make an altar of acacia wood, ... "On it Aaron shall burn fragrant incense. Morning after morning, when he prepares the lamps, and again in the evening twilight, when he lights the lamps, he shall burn incense. Throughout your generations this shall be the established incense offering before the LORD.

(Exodus 30:1-9)

============

#21418
Once when he was serving as priest in his division's turn before God, according to the practice of the priestly service, he was chosen by lot to enter the sanctuary of the Lord to burn incense. Then, when the whole assembly of the people was praying outside at the hour of the incense offering, the angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right of the altar of incense.

(Luke 1:8-12)

Dong, is that Divine Mercy Shrine somewhere in Mindanao?  I heard the one near CDO is so huge.  Our parish priest donated a couple of thousands of rosaries for that Shrine.  If that's the one in the picture you shared, your Ate Lumine had visited that place sometime back.  I wish to go there pohon, maluoy Ginoo.

Yes, Ate Ging. It is situated in the heart of Muslim Mindanao and the reason why it is so important because it spearheads the Christian Faith in a predominantly muslim region. The fact that it was built and has evaded attacks by radicals is a miracle in itself.

I want to visit this Divine Mercy Shrine pohon, Maluuy ang Ginoo.

Creepy guy, oh creepy guy
You think yourself sly
But I catch you lurking
Out the corner of mine eye
You plot to gain a closer proximity
But too well I know your game
Now please, stop uttering my name
I've come to despise it
You drove me so insane
Oh creepy guy, why can't you see?
Your constant grunts and groans
Are sickening to me
Do not stare at me so
With eyes full of longing
You're old, and it leaves my skin crawling
Oh creepy guy, when will you see?
I will never have sex with you
If that is your plea
You are just far too disturbing to me
And so I crown thee
The King of Creeps
More annoying than a mime
You both make children weep
Now I give you fair warning
Unbelievably creepy dude
Sneak up behind me just one more time
And you will quickly become
A new kind of fish food!

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow
Praise Him, all creatures here below
Praise Him above, ye Heavenly Host
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
#21430
Lyrics:

All people that on earth do dwell,
Sing to the Lord with cheerful voice.
Him serve with fear, His praise forth tell;
Come ye before Him and rejoice.

The Lord, ye know, is God indeed;
Without our aid He did us make;
We are His folk, He doth us feed,
And for His sheep He doth us take.

O enter then His gates with praise;
Approach with joy His courts unto;
Praise, laud, and bless His Name always,
For it is seemly so to do.

For why? the Lord our God is good;
His mercy is for ever sure;
His truth at all times firmly stood,
And shall from age to age endure.

To Father, Son and Holy Ghost,
The God Whom Heaven and earth adore,
From men and from the angel host
Be praise and glory evermore.

I still remember the day he left...

Yes, Ate Ging. I still remember it as well , and I can never forget how you were very helpful to me and to my friends in our time of grief.

The sudden loss of a good friend is life changing and creates a vacuum and emptiness. With time, as we accepted his loss, and as our hearts bore the pain, after the tears were dried, then the pain slowly departed.

However, the memory of his brightness and his goodness and positive effect in all of the lives whom he touched will be forever etched in those lives...

Thank You for being there for me in my time of grief.

May his soul rest in peace, in eternal peace in the bosom of the LORD. He who looks past our iniquities and whose mercy overfloweth.

In contemplation, I would like to share a line from the Book of Psalms (Psalm 25, verse 6-7):

... Remember, O LORD, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old. Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness’ sake, O LORD....

We miss you and we love you, Robert...

Lord, may you look inside us, our deep conviction of the faith, and not on the outward sinful body. Merciful Blood of Jesus, wash all our iniquities so that we may be made worth of thy promises....

In thy most holy name, we pray, the name above all other names. The Name of Jesus Christ who is Lord of All.

Amen.

Here's the new Divine Mercy Shrine in the Philippines. In the Heart of Jesus where the rays are emanating from, is a chapel where the Blessed Sacrament is exposed. The rays are stairs leading to the chapel. The structure on the bottom of the statue is another chapel. Isn't it beautiful?

Dearest Robert,

As I went for a walk today , by the windy shores of North Lake Shore Drive, I saw the trees blooming. The Japanese maples here in Northern Chicago are blossoming with colors, multiplied by the radiant sun. I pictured you there, sitting by the trees in your quintessential pose with a book on hand. I could not help but smile. Oh my sweet, gentle friend. You are sorely missed.

I wrote to your mother some months ago. She replied and it made me happy to read her written voice.

With Love,
Always,
Your Friend.

Class ended at 9:30 PM, after class there was a line for questions in the material. Imagine, i already gave them 60 words to define by Wednesday.

I covered all of chapter 1 yesterday and did a brief review for chapter 2, which i will cover on wednesday. Intensive course ni because it is a 8 week course that covers 16 chapters.

My goal is to make sure all of my students graduate my class with a clear understanding of health systems, and organ systems with clear emphasis on med. term.

I already told them that class will be intensive.

I have 40 students in my class ; most of them are nursing students. Over 3/4 of them are Filipinos. It's funny how they thought i was a student when I entered class. One student asked me, as I was preparing my books, "Hey do you know when the professor is coming? Where is he?"

I answered him, "You can stop texting in your phone now. Your professor has entered the class."

The facial expression was priceless.

Overall, a good bunch of kids. Most of them are in the RN program and OT program. :)

In the intensity of debating others' view and championing one's view, or in the need to correct others and give one's opinion, we tend to get carried away in the perception of not being wrong. And this results in others' perception that one thinks that he or she is always right. Tho one should never easily concede one's defenses so easily, one should be wise enough to take into consideration other points of view.

I myself take into consideration that in the heat of the moment and in the passion of debate I tend to overlook my own faults , and I recognize this. Indeed, and I admit this.

The beauty in discourse is the ability to recognize when one is right, wrong, proven correct, or proven wrong. Sometimes this is hard for us (one can become quite adamant in the heat of the debate) and it does take time to let it all sink in. That's just the beauty of debate is that one can feel such vibrant dynamic.

June bride Miriam getting Noy as best man
By Christina Mendez (The Philippine Star)

Manila, Philippines - President Aquino has been asked to be the best man when Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago and her husband of 40 years, Narciso Santiago Jr., renew their vows at the Manila Cathedral on June 19.

The office of Santiago has started distributing applications for media accreditation for the coverage of the event, dubbed at the Senate as the “wedding of the year.”

The feisty senator will be a June bride, remarrying her husband whose nickname is Jun during the wedding month.

If Aquino is best man, the bridesmaid is reportedly actress Heart Evangelista.

Despite the apparent differences in their political views, Sen. Santiago has reportedly chosen Aquino as the best man for their renewal of vows because the President’s father, the late Sen. Ninoy Aquino, was also one of the sponsors at the couple’s wedding 40 years ago.

Miriam and Jun were schoolmates at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City.

Sen. Santiago was appointed head of the Bureau of Immigration during the term of former President Corazon Aquino, mother of the current president. Santiago was later appointed agrarian reform secretary.

During their marriage, the couple did not have major scandals except for the suicide of one of their sons several years ago in their Quezon City residence.

The incident left the family, especially Sen. Santiago, devastated, but it also prompted her to return to public service.

She is an Ilongga, I think.
