Sorry for reviving this very insatiable thread once more.

I have a very yucky experience at the chocolate hills at my younger age. We were sliding by the hill, riding a coconut branch (palwa) when I felt something wet at my back.

"It is Human Igit painted all over my back til my hair, yuck". Naa pa gyod daghan un-digested nga liso sa bayabas, murag binangkal.

The sad part is there is no water to wash. I have to walk 2 kilometers for the nearest water.

So, this thread reminds me of two Beatle Songs "Fool on the Hill" & "Yellow Submarine".

Leo,

Even if I am away in Bohol for a long time, I keep track of beauty pageants which peaked on Ms. Igpit in 2006 and with a sudden nose dive this year by cancelation of Miss Sandugo.

However, hope lies within us my fellow advocates. Maybe not soon but someday and I can hear the drum rolling in near future.

To prove my enthusiasm, I keep my 8 year old daughter prepared for the ripe time as leo said 10 years from now. I built her to represent Bohol, talent wise, beautywise, physique wise & brainwise. I spent my extra earnings for her piano, dance and voice lessons. This is the real essence of "Year's of Preparation" as I mentioned previously, maybe in this thread or parallel thread.

If the past committee is incapable of managing the next event, then better give others a change to handle it.

I agree with you Mr. Benelyne that the havoc is caused by 1 rotten apple that spoiled the whole basket. It is the desperation by the government to export quantity, not quality workforce. Some are even below the legal working age.

What outraged me the most are the ones who are indirectly stripping away the fibers of our dignity as Filipinos, such as professionals/teachers deployed as maids. In the case of Japan, the ones who earned good money by just exposing some skin. I am not referring to professional dancers and singers as they have talents to be proud of.

They are the majority who usually go into trouble with foreign law. However, we should not discriminate them as they are part of us. They are also heroes, in any way has contributed to our economy. They are just humans buying their way out of poverty in pursuit to happiness.

I can not allow such stupid fate to happen in our beloved Bohol waters.

We must stop oil drilling plan in our beautiful sea before it is too late.

Only corporations and corrupt officials who approved it will benefit, while our main livelihood (fishing & tourism industry) is exposed to such risk.

Believe me, I was jailed twice in Saudi Arabia, just for a minor traffic violation. The problem is that once you are inside, you are practically isolated from the outside world and you can not seek for a lawyer's help. Except if your employer is a prominent company or a royal family.

Actually, what Amb. Villamor & Lab. Att. Dicang are doing now is a sign of progress.

Since we are in this hostile country, we have this mind-set of acceptance for the inevitable consequence. Forced to migrate due to our frail economy.

We OFW's are the main export of our country. Our hard earned dollars/remittances is the main fuel to keep our economy afloat. Sadly, the recent strength of the peso vs. the dollar translates to 20% reduction to the exchange rate, thus 20% reduction to our salary.

As discussed in another poll "Sweden's comments over OFW", that sending citizens to work abroad due to ailing economy is not for long term. As what Sweden did, revenues from these remitances were being utilized to fund feasible investments/industry by their government. It is the seed that branched out into a big tree and their nation benefited from its fruit. However, first thing we must do is to sweep away corruption, to do a massive overhaul, a social revolution to replace all deffective components within our government.

We OFW's if united has the power to make things happen. We are superior in many aspects than our Philippine counterparts. We have a plan.

Mr Macky, kanang happiness nga kalibutanon, that's subject to the law of diminishing returns. I love chocolate cake, it makes me happy. But 2 slices max is about all I can take in one sitting, that's my "happiness ceiling". Now, will it make me happier if I eat the whole cake? or 2? or 3 cakes? Pareha ra pud na sa kuarta, there's a certain ceiling for everyone, after which, extra money won't really make that much of a difference. Motuo jud ko anang hierarchy of needs (Abraham Maslow), when we've fulfilled all our needs, that'll make for a happy existence, and anything extra is just a bonus.

One of my fantasy to be happy is to be imortal and to conquer all fear. It sounds crazy, but somehow, this subconcious needs managed to grasp and control a bit of my reality.

I also believed that everything in this world is utility, including money. You can not find happiness in a utility. Happiness is only found within you.

It is not shameful to proclaim that we Filipinos can not speak English perfectly. It is the truth. However, speech is only a skill like singing or dancing, and not necessarily a manifestation of intelligence. Yet, I am certain that we Filipinos are among the highly intelligent race in this planet.

Simply, we are Filipinos with our hard tongues. We speak our own language, we have our own identity. We may not be perfect in terms of communication skills, but in comprehension, we are.

Sadly, the Americans, the people we Filipinos regard to as icons of intellegence and perfect society is dumbing down. Ref: http://www.digitaldivide.net/news/view.php?HeadlineID=241

I am proud of being Filipino, a royal race and not a decendant of some violent wild west.

Hi Guys,

I was one day late. It seems I am hibernating from TB due to my heavy work load (it is forecast time again in our company).

I laughed at GEC's description of Sigbin as ‘Optimus Prime’ which is near to exact. Just last night I was playing the PS II version of Transformers with my son. Judging from the facial expression of Sigbin, I could predict his future as a tough lawyer or perhaps a judge 'pohon'. For me he looks more like 'Jagernaut' of the X-men. Delaguna had his composure maintained as being a public figure. But I know inside of him is playing rock n roll. He is good in containing himself.

You girls were terrific!    "Ala Charlie's Angels" local version. However, four of you looks like Lucy Liu, all Asian.

Mike, why have you not told me in advance. Just yesterday, I called my mother and told her that you would soon visit our house. She is always ready to prepare something. My mother is a good cook. My child GEC, why you did not send me an email about this EB. Remember what we have agreed?

So, maybe next time pohon, I could join you.

I was trying to find an article which I kept some years back. It was about two mathematicians who made a formula on how to determine the amount of happiness and convert it in money value. Like for example how much is the happiness you gain from staying in a 5 star hotel compared to a 4 star hotel. Then you will know if the money you spent is worth the happiness you gained.

I forgot where I saved that article.

Further, here are the questions: What Bill Gates is up to with all the money he got. Does he care about it? He is saving his money for what? Did he realize that even if he would party every hour in fabulous hotel, he would die of old age before he could consume all of it. Then what is his point of being a workaholic and avoid fun? Who are the heirs & heiress of this money?

1. Bill Gates earns US$250 every SECOND, that's about US$20
Million a DAY and US$7.8 Billion a YEAR! .
________________________________________________________
2. If he drops a thousand dollar, he won't even bother to pick
it up bcoz the 4 seconds he picks it, he would've already earned
it back.
_______________________________________________________
3. The US national debt is about 5.62 trillion, if
Bill Gates were to pay the debt by himself; he will finish it in
less then 10 years.
_________________________________________________
4. He can donate US$15 to everyone on earth but still be left
with US$5 Million for his pocket money.
___________________________________________________
5. Michael Jordan is the highest paid athlete in US.
If he doesn't drink and eat, and keeps up his annual income i.e.
US$30 Million, he'll have to wait for 277 years to become as
rich as Bill Gates is now.
_______________________________________________
6. If Bill Gates was a country, he would be the 37th richest
country on earth.
______________________________________________
7. If you change all of Bill Gate's money to US$1 notes, you can
make a road from earth to moon, 14 times back and forth. But you
have to make that road non-stop for 1,400 years, and use a total
of 713 BOEING 747 planes to transport all the money.
______________________________________________________
8. Bill Gates is 40 this year. If we assume that he will live
for another 35 years, he has to spend US$6.78 Million per day to
finish all his money before he can go to heaven.
_____________________________________________________
Last but not the least:
If Microsoft Windows' users can claim US$1 for every time their
computers hang because of Microsoft Windows, Bill Gates will be
bankrupt in 3 years!!!!!!!!!!!

I got the moral lesson from the last one after no.8 : "It takes a lot of effort and pride to inflate a big baloon, but you just need a little pin to blow it to pieces".

I don't believe Bill Gates is a genius. It is our fear of having without, that made Bill Gates filthy rich.

Don't worry Mike, your father is with the force.

Thanks Grazie,

There is something I would like to add and it is the difference between a cooperative and a corporation. They may have many things in common, but let me enumerate on the aspects where they greatly differ.

In a corporation, the one who has the biggest share has voice and owns the biggest vote by the board; i.e. in SMC, Soriano owns the biggest share; hence he is the President.

While in a cooperative, we have a one member, one vote system. During the general assembly/election, each member regardless of his share is entitled to a 1 vote. Hence, even if you have Php100,000 worth of shares and I have only Php3,000 (minimum share to be a member), we have equal voting power.

Hence, if you display a good character with genuine intentions, there is a possibility for you to become one of the Board Members during election (if you have many fans). In a cooperative, there is no discrimination on gender, age or religion.

Further, in a corporation, the revenues of the company will be shared only among incorporators.

While in a cooperative, the net profit of each year shall be shared by all members, in a form of dividend, which is in proportion to his/her capital share.

Moreover, if you avail a loan, you will be entitled to what is called a "patronage refund". A patronage refund is a portion of your loan revenues, returned back to you.

To explain further, if you avail a loan from any bank, the revenues from that loan will go to the bank. While in a cooperative a portion of that revenue mo balik ra nimo as patronage refund.

Moreover, all our transactions in a cooperative is "tax free". While if we build a corporation, the BIR is always on the lookout to take a big bite of your revenues.

There are more technical information I would like to share with you in due course.

Moreover, I want to add something about the Raffia waving cooperative in Tubigon and Inabangga.

Success won't happen overnight. They started from Php 5,000 capital and for 13 years they nurtured this cooperative until it grew this big. I mean that's a lot of perseverance and dedication.

This is just an example and a source of inspiration, that if these simple housewives did it on limited resources, how much more if we "overseas workers" with vast resources worldwide would pull together.

Pre-membership seminar is just a formality. They character of the person is what we value the most. If you happen to be in Bohol, you may take the pre-membership seminar at our H.O. in Calceta St., where the main topic of the seminar is the bylaws.

But, since we are scattered around the world, one may just open the website and read the articles of cooperativism and bylaws. Once you have digested the topics that is considered as taking the seminar.

Moreover, our policy is not simply accepting any member, but we have to look into the character and sincerity of each applicant.

RV, Payao is one of the most fascinating and spectacular place I have seen. It is just in Duero, an uphill baranggay. To get there, you have to cross a small creek which passes in the middle of the road. That was long ago, when I was in college when I last visited there. Maybe by now, a bridge is built.

There you in their terrace, it is over looking the Mindanao sea, where you can see the blue sky and the blue sea joined without border or horizontal line. It is like "panagminyo sa langit ug dagat". Sometimes, you will feel disoriented by looking at it. Your mind will be confused as to where is up or down.

Hope you will visit this place someday and post photos. Hope you dont mind this personal request RV. Really, it's a photographer's challenge, but you have to go there on a clear day to capture the maximum view.

Dear Grazie7y,

Bein a Board Member of BOWACCC and at the same time the Treasurer, I realized that there are endless opportunities and countless benefits cooperativism could contribute to the society and to the economy in general. It is one of the solution to alleviate poverty and what is more noble than that. In fact this is more effective than charity as most of charity is a one time help and ones this help is consumed, the situation goes back to previous. Cooperativism is "Impowerment" to the individual so he can stand on his own.

You may read a topic posted by our Admin, Mr. Mike Ligalig on cooperativism: http://tubagbohol.mikeligalig.com/index.php?topic=5867.0

I appreciate your enthusiasm for this cause and love to our motherland. The key word is believe in yourself. Each one of us has a unique talent that brought us to this part of the world.

You will agree with me that most of the OF / OFW's came to this part of the world because we were not born with a silver spoon. If we are, we should not have left our beloved motherland. We left because the economy of our motherland is not favoring us & our family.

Each one of us has its own stories to tell and the common denominator is "struggle for a better future", "the pursuit of happyness". It's now time to use this passion.

If only a few of us lights his/her candle, it will die-out by a gentle gust. But if all our candles are lit, not even the strongest storm could put off its flame. Kining suga, maoy mag lamdag kanato sa dalan nga ginaingon ug "road to progress".

Kita ang nag buhi sa atong economiya. Manong mo tugot man ta nga lain ang mo harvest sa atong gi pugas.

Mura man ko ani ug hing diskorso sa eleksyon. Hehehe

By the way, nakalimot ko ug comment sa Loon Church. The time of capture is just perfect, where the sun is around 30 degrees. This soft sunlight gives contrast and define the subject. Most photographers prefer to shoot at 7-8 morning or 4-5 afternoon. Also the position of RV is perfect which shows a good perspective.

Mike, in all Western Union transaction, there is a transaction code number. That number if shown would be enough to claim the money. ID is just for double checking. Infact, that code will only be devulged to the sender by the teller of the source bank.

Hence, those who wish to help Mike should also include the Transaction number when they notify Mike on his PM or Email.

As mentioned in your article, I have seen one documentary about a lungfish, which borrows itself in mud. During dry season, the mud actually solidifies to bone dry. Amazingly, the fish is still alive and once back in water, it will swim in minutes. It looks like catfish or pantat.

I wonder if there is a hermaphrodite human. I have seen a science fiction about humans reproducing by itself.

Dear Tubag Bohol Members,

A new political party represented by "Heroes" OFWs (Overseas Filipino Workers) has been formed. Please read as below. OFWs are the lifeblood of our economy, yet we have no political representation. Please help me disseminate this information to all Filipino Community Leaders in your area. Thanks.

Written by: "Bonite, Elias F" <elias.bonite@aramco.com>

Dear Filipino Community Leaders around the Globe,

Good morning to you all!

Please be informed that an OFWs-led group has been hatched to form a political party the Partido ng Pangdaigdigang Pilipino or PPP among OFs and OFWs around the globe. The reason for the PPP is that the Overseas Filipinos, inspite of its large number- around 10 million, has not yet maximized its potential to address its numerous concerns. It has failed to garner a seat in the Congress even after several attempts by OFWs Party Lists. Moreover, the OFs and OFWs sector has never been consulted on any state policies and regulations that would greatly affect them.

PPP chapters have already been organized in the Middle East particularly in the Central Region (Riyadh) and Western Region (Jeddah) of Saudi Arabia. Tayo dito sa Eastern Province ay magbubuo pa lang; medyo nahuli tayo. PPP chapters are now existing in Europe, USA and Canada. In the Philippines binubuo na rin, PPP-NCR (National Capital Region in the Phil.) has been tasked to register PPP with the SEC and eventually with the COMELEC.

It is in this light that you are all requested to support and be part of this global PPP. OFs and OFWs need to be united dahil kong magwatak watak tayo mahina ang ating puerza at di tayo magkaroon ng mga representante sa Congress. Imagine if we are all united say we are 10 millions around the world puera pa sa mga dependents natin sa Pilipinas baka kaya nating magkaroon ng representatives sa Congress pati na sa Senate.

This is a very huge and ambitious task pero kung bawat isa sa atin ay mag commit to support this cause â€" success is not far-fetched.

Please confirm your willingness to join the PPP and advise that you will fully support the formation of this global political party. With you and your group’s participation, it is expected that PPP will take off to a greater heights.

Maraming salamat..

Elias ‘Dong’ F. Bonite

This is a government program, where public funds are involved. Where are the department P.R.O.s of this project. Preporting is important for transparency.

The Brother of my mother, the late Mr. Felipe Sarmiento, contributes a vital role in the Rattan plantation and the conservation of wild life in this forest.

My Grandfather, the late Rufino Sarmiento was a foreman in the cadastral survey who built this road from Loboc to Carmen. During his tenure, he was the one who plant that big Acacia trees on the road side where you can still see some of it by now and dili na ma gakos ug lima ka tao ang pono-an. Most of them were cut down and labeled as hazards to the electric posts. Sometimes, we do not value history.

Hadlok raba nang magpa mysterious-mysterious kay naa koy nakit-an nga salida sa TV nga dihay mga missing girls sa America. Then a female detective was sent to investigate the crime. Upon investigating, the 4 missing girls were previiously chatting to a single girl at most of thier time. So she joined the club. Then that girl invited her for an EB at her house. While she opened the door, a needle pricked at the detective's finger that left her unconcious. Upon waking up, she was horrified to see a fat, oversized man staring at her with his saliva dripping at her face. This man is confined on a wheelchair and could barely stand. This man is a "CANIVAL" who disguised himself as a slim girl on the internet, victimizing young girls and eating them.

At the end of the story, the female detective was able to escape and kill the canival.

This is only a movie and did not happen in reality.

There is one option, Mr. Ferniz. The reclamation of the Philippine territory of Sabah, which is illegally controlled by Malaysia at the moment. Sabah has vast amounts of raw natural resources and land area that is the size of Mindanao...
Its unification with the Philippines would ease many of our problems.

Good idea Bran. If China was able to acquire back Hong-kong and Taiwan from the hands of the British, then why can't we.

I remembered when I was a little kid that one of my uncle, out of deperation, ventured for a back-door entry vide Sabah to Malaysia. He was caught by a Malaysian cost guard inside Sabah waters and was given a riffle but on the back that left him unconcious.

On learning about the history of Sabah during my high school days, I was so outraged. How dare these people prosecuted us in our own land!

I even got more outraged when just recently, I got one of Emirates Airlines Travel Book, where Sabah is featured as one of the Top Tourist attraction in Malaysia and Mount Kinabalu was dubed as the best mountaineering site. While in the same book, not even an Ad of a Philippine resort was mentioned.

With this, one can ask "where are our leaders".

By the way, let me guess the answer.
1. Male would initiate mating if you place another female. It would be called "threesome".
2. Calm the tarsier by blowing gently on it's eye.

Thanks Benelyne and congratulations.

You have a great achievement, as part of a team who not only loves nature, but an advocate for its protection & preservation. Moreover, you are a one-of-a-kind Boholano who could translate Japanese; a linguist, like Dr. Jose Rizal. Bohol is proud of you Ben and you should be among the 'Who's who of Bohol'. Surely, such visual campaign would generate awareness/public education for the preservation/re-population of the tarsier and it's native habitat, Bohol.

By the way, is it possible if you could request your colleagues to post a low-resolution copy in YouTube or is it with copywrite.

Hope that in contrast to the fate of the phylocine or thylacine or marsupial wolf, the tarsier's popularity must not lead to it's extinction.

N.B. I am not an expressive writer as you are, but I am happy beyond my words. My personal thanks.

Also Mike, sala diay pod ang mo swear ka. Di ba kasagaran sa atong mga balak mo ingon "Isaad ko sa langit". However, a balak is not literal, it is only an expression / Abstract. That's how balak is, exaggerated; otherwise it will not be called a balak.

References:
Matt. 5:33-37
Again, you have heard that it was said to those of ancient times, "You shall not swear falsely, but carry out the vows you have made to the Lord." But I say to you, Do not swear at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black. Let your word be "Yes, Yes" or "No, No"; anything more than this comes from the evil one.

James 5:12
Above all, my brothers, do not swear - not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. Let your "Yes" be yes, and your "No," no, or you will be condemned.

We are open and I am inviting all to join too. Just follow link: http://www.geocities.com/bowacccoop/home.html

I have read also a thread from Capitan Berong on organizing a multipurpose cooperative. Why not start now. We could build a hospital for our future needs, i.e. like 25% discount for members + yearly dividends on revenues (pro-rated / depending on your capital share). Or a school, to start with an elementary school. We could compete Bohol Wisdom School. Or a big enterprise.

With a very conservative amount of $10 per member x 50,000 members = $500,000 and that would be equal to P22,524,000. This is more than enough to initiate an enterprise and help provide employment in Bohol. We have a wide array of feasible enterprise to choose from.

We have great minds here in Tubag Bohol. I am confident of at least 80% success. Let us organize.

Once again, I hereby nominate Mike Ligalig to be our chairman. (Mike you could apply what you have learned from MBA, management here).

The Philippines economic plan is following the path of nations such as India and Malaysia, which is more service oriented. Look at the amount of foreign investment in the IT sphere in the country, as well as the rising banking systems in the country--and this will continue to rise as foreign demand for high skilled laborers in the Philippines is at hand. The Philippines, unlike China and Thailand, graduates thousands of highly skilled individuals in the engineering, medical, teaching, banking fields every year--and are employed abroad, unlike the manufacturing-oriented economies of the region.

Ate Belle did bring up a great point. Why would the Philippines need to import raw materials from Thailand and China considering the Philippines itself is endowed with rich natural resources? Forgive me for being limited in the fields of economics and marketing, perhaps Mr. Ferniz and others could care to explain this?
Thanks.

Good question there Bran and I am expecting somebody would ask.

Everybody knew that China is the cheapest manufacturer of raw materials. At the moment, they have all the facilities to manufacture almost everything.

Whereas, if we manufacture the raw materials (mainly the plain cloth), we have to start with investing on big machineries like the loom.

Hence, it would take a lot of gamble to start someting big. Moreover, this is only half of the story. The other half is what marketing is called the ATL (Above the line) expenseses such as advertisement, Print Materials, Publicities, Agents/representatives to promote your products and marketing. You have to invest on a Website, promoters, Newspaper Ads to be known.

Hence, you have to manage your limited/available budget wisely.

In other countries, such as China, Germany, France, UK, USA their governments are supporting private enterprise by organizing International Trade Fairs. They even built a facility for this such as in Fiera, Milano Italy, where it is like a huge city with hotels and convention centres are build just to showcase thier private industry. Also the Shanghai and Guangzou Exhibition Centre in China. Germany is also hosting the yearly Hymtex Textile exhibition in Munich.

So, private businesses don't need to spend huge budget for publicity because their government is supporting them. Besides, these will draw an influx of international visitors, thus benefiting resorts, hotels and tourism industry in general.

As I have explained previously, buyers are looking for new unique designs and quality is only a second criteria.

In the general sense, this business is service/skilled oriented and not manufacturing oriented. That's why we are not bothered about the raw material (the manufacturing oriented), but rather, focus on the design and assembly, the creative service oriented side.

I knew it was a mistake to use my picture as my avatar.
There are maybe 1 or 2 textile factories back in my hometown. In the 70s/80s it was the main employer - with 10s of factories.
You're right about it being an opportunity for this country.  Some countries manage to sell at higher prices than China because they have more ethical employment practices and human rights.  The consumers prefer not to think of kids in sweatshops etc. so it give the brand more value.  Still, to be competitive with the rest of this region you would have to offer your workers only about 3000pesos per month for 12 hour days, 6 days a week. I guess 'ethical employment practices' is a very relative thing!

Actually, Mr. Ben, it is not too late for anybody to start with this kind of business, I mean in international level.

I am employed in a company importing home textiles, such as towels, bed sheets, comforters, pillows, rugs, bath mats..etc.

In my observation, buyers are not choosing based on brand but on the design. And quality of material is only a second criteria.

Since, we Boholanos has a unique and creative sense of design, I think we are competitive in this field.

We can import raw materials from China and Thailand and assemble it in Bohol and re-export it to the world.

This is just my idea and who knows it will become a big enterprise in Bohol if all of us will colaborate.

The reason is that there was a magazine publicity in USA that people suffered from eye irritation after using the solution.

As a precaution, the Saudi government recalled the product. Actually, it was only a publicity by a rival brand.

Saudi is one of the toughest quality control in the world. In every country there is a SASO and no product can pass the Customs without SASO Certificate. Even Airconditioners and cars will undergo SASO inspection.

Even the Royal Family businesses is not excempted by this rule. Last month, a bottled water factory owned by a prince has been closed due to high bromate content exceeding SASO recommended level. Bromate at high level has been known to be carcenogenic.

Back in the Philippines, we even don't know if the processed food we are eating are safe. So better eat natural food, and avoid the processed ones. It is much safer.
