What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle within you? You want something but don't get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.

Romans 8:28-29 states,

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them. For God knew His people in advance, and He chose them to become like His Son, so that His Son would be the firstborn, with many brothers and sisters.”

Here I am playing with those memories again
And just when I thought time had set me free
Those thoughts of you keep taunting me

Holding you, a feeling I never outgrew
Though each and every part of me has tried
Only you can fill that space inside

So there's no sense pretending
My heart it's not mending

(Chorus)
Just when I thought I was over you
And just when I thought I could stand on my own
Oh baby those memories come crashing through
And I just can't go on without you.

On my own I've tried to make the best of it alone
I've done everything I can to ease the pain
But only you can stop the rain

I just can't live without you
I miss everything about you

(Chorus)
Just when I thought I was over you
And just when I thought I could stand on my own
Oh baby those memories come crashing through
And I just can't go on without
Go on without
It's just no good without you

Love Talk / Re: Share your heart-break stories here
October 09, 2011, 12:57:54 AM
When I was younger, I was always searching to find someone. In my adulthood, having reached the age of 26, and with responsibility of matters that concern life of others, I realize that such vain pursuit in 'finding' a right woman is futile. I realize that love will come in its own time, in due time. If a person is really meant to be with someone, it will happen, she will work it out to be with a man, or he will work it out to be with a woman.

One should never limit himself/ herself to a person totally. A healthy relationship is when a person has friends aside from the partner. Dili diay healthy if totally dependent ang tawo sa babahe , or in the case of a woman, dili gayod healthy if the woman is totally dependent sa lalake. Ngano man? Ang rason ana ay, kai in case mag buwag mo, ma devastated gayod kamo. If a person is totally emotionally dependent on a person, og ma buwag gayod mo, sakit kaayo ang dughan.

That is why one should always maintain a healthy support system. Always have friends you can talk to, who are available to encourage you and motivate you in case of bad times. It is never healthy to close yourself off.

And never, ever, ever, think that you are never good enough for a person. No. Og mo buwag galing mo, don't ever let that person say to you, "you're not good enough for me", if a person says that to you, then that person is not the right one. A relationship should never entail you to be emotionally abused, as well as physically.

Your partner should complement you not complicate you.

At the end of the day, ampo gayod mo. Ug sakit ang dughan , ampo gayod mo. God will always make a way... :)

For priests, they can't move on, nor should they move on. Because there is no one waiting for them. Why?

Because if you are a priest, you already found the best of the best, the highest of the highest.

To be a priest, means you are already married. A priest is married to Jesus Christ, who is the fountain of Love and Mercy.

You can't beat the best.... :)

When I went back to the Philippines in 2010 (after 12 years since my last visit) , I was quite fascinated by the Visayan word , "Panuhot". When I visited Southern Leyte , the land of my paternal ancestors (as I do have Waray-Leyteno blood vis-a-vis my father's side), I was instructed to visit a local healer.

My whole family and I took the barge from Ubay, Bohol to the City of Maasin, Southern Leyte. The trip took some 4 hours and by the time I arrived to Leyte I was sick and had fever.

After 5 hours of driving from Maasin to the Panaon Island, Southern Leyte , we arrived to the town of Pintuyan (my father's ancestral town). I don't know why but I was sick. I was coughing, hacking, sweating and developed a severe fever. So I was told by great-aunt to visit a local healer, oddly enough the local healer was a distant relative of my father's. His last name was Estrella, but his mother was a Lucino (my paternal clan).

I was instructed to take off my clothes and he started blowing smoke on me, and whispered some words to which I had no clue nor understanding what it meant. Maybe some kind of local medicinal therapy. He then started to massage me and said that I was stricken with 'panuhot'. So he continued to massage me for 2 hours, with extreme effort. All the while he was praying , the words of which i had no clue nor understanding.

I fell asleep during this time. When he woke me up, some 2 hours later, to my surprise, na wa ahong ailment. My coughing subsided, my fever went away, and the headache I had was gone. Completely.

Before this I did not believe in 'panuhot' and its effects. After this, I don't deny it gayod. :)

In the silent moments , the difficult hours, the trials that these great men worked , and labored to find that particular test result, the cause of genetic deformity, the equation to a particular problem, the solution to the problem-- it is empowering for me to know that these great men surrendered their troubles to the All-Knowing and Ever-Loving Divine Providence.

And with grace bestowed to them from Providence' , were able to acquire fruitful results. To completion.

Truly, truly, God is the fountain of all wisdom and knowledge. From which all Good things come from.

Glory to God in the Highest. Who is Author, Creator of All Things...

Gregor Johann Mendel

He  was a scientist and Augustinian friar who gained posthumous fame as the founder of the new science of genetics. Mendel demonstrated that the inheritance of certain traits in pea plants follows particular patterns, now referred to as the laws of Mendelian inheritance. Although the significance of Mendel's work was not recognized until the turn of the 20th century, the independent rediscovery of these laws formed the foundation of the modern science of genetics.

The 'father' of Genetics was a Roman Catholic Augustinian Friar.    :)

Reverend Fr. Mendel discovered the 'truths' of genetic inheritance and wrote his discoveries in his book during the 1850s till the 1860s. As a monk, he was a prolific gardener and lover of plants. He was able to document genetic inheritance of peas and flower types throughout his life. This so called 'documentation' was the basis of what would become the study of : GENETICS.

Because of Mendel, we have now discovered the secrets of the Human Genome. The thousands of diseases we can now treat and are treating is because of the successful completion of the Human Genome Project in 2003. None of this would have been possible had it not been for Reverend Fr. Mendel.

Monsignor Georges Henri Joseph Édouard Lemaître

He was a Belgian priest, astronomer and professor of physics at the Catholic University of Louvain. He sometimes used the title Abbé or Monseigneur. Lemaître proposed what became known as the Big Bang theory of the origin of the Universe, which he called his 'hypothesis of the primeval atom'. He is called the "Father of the Big Bang Theory."

A Roman Catholic Priest was the one who invented the "Big Bang Theory". :)

Why should Tagalog be the national language? Cebu, the Queen City of the South, was the first Spanish Colony in the Philippines and was the original capital. I say Cebuano should be the National Language.

Tagalog sounds so annoying. Tagalog speakers sound like they're whining and complaining. Cebuano is far more masculine-sounding and pleasing to hear. :)

Priscilla,

Speaking as a clinician and to reiterate the psychology of sex, every society in this world experience this phenemenon. The United States also has an over-sexed population. It is no different to the Philippines. The only difference here is that the former, the United States, endorses contraceptive use and family planning clinics (abortion clinics), whereas the latter, the Philippines, does not. Of course we have to consider that the latter endorses and upholds strict Catholic notion of the sanctity of life.

If the United States also was predominantly Roman Catholic and endorsed a strong opposition to abortion and the use of contraceptives, then I guarantee you that the population growth trends in the United States would be equal if not greater than that of the Philippines.

I have a lot of patients that I see. If you look at the statistics on the pregnancies here in the United States, a significant amount are from teenagers. A significant amount of those end their pregnancies via abortion. Whereas in the Philippines, they do not.

Environmental and religious-social upbringing influences the direction of the pregnancies in these two societies. The United States, which is far more liberal than that of Catholic and Conservative Philippines, has adopted the culture of death. The Philippines, in contrast to today's trend, still upholds and defends the sanctity of life.

Ug naa galing hypertrophic cardiomyopathy sa patient, giving herbal medicine is totally contraindicated. Digitalis, Digoxin og Beta Blocker / Calcium Channel Blocker man ang appropriate treatment.

Instead they are propagating herbal medicine? Na unsa man ni sila? Bulok ba? :)

My life before You
I was a flame burning down
I was burning out

But You knew me better
For You there was never a doubt
Not since You gave me Your life
Something was different, I knew it the instant
You put the light in me

The spark, the shot to the heart,
You are the Hope that leads me out of the dark
You let Your love shine down
so that the world could see
You put the light in me

The light, You put the light in me (x4)

You are the Maker
You tell the sun when to rise
I'm just a house on a hill
But You make me brighter than all the stars in the sky

Keep me from growing dim
cause in Your perfection, I'm just a reflection
so pull me closer to You
I'll catch like a fire, and I'll hold You higher
Cause You put the light in me

The spark, the shot to the heart,
You are the Hope that leads me out of the dark
You let Your love shine down
so that the world could see
You put the light in me

The light, You put the light in me (x4)

I'll raise it high, I'll let it show
From the rooftops down to the streets below
In day and night, You will be known
And all will see
You put the light in me

Cause You put the light in me

The spark, the shot to the heart,
You are the Hope that leads me out of the dark
You let Your love shine down

O, boiling, bubbling berry, bean!
Thou consort of the kitchen queen-
Browned and ground of every feature,
The only aromatic creature,
For which we long, for which we feel,
The breath of morn, the perfumed meal.

For what is tea! It can but mean,
Merely the mildest go-between.
Insipid sobriety of thought and mind
It “cuts no figure”â€"we can find-
Save peaceful essays, gentle walks,
Purring cats, old ladies’ talks”â€"

But coffee I can other tales unfold.
It’s history’s written round and bold-
Brave buccaneers upon the “Spanish main,”
The army’s march across the length’ng plain.
The lone prospector wandering o’er the hill,
The hunter’s camp, thy fragrance all distill.

So here’s a health to coffee! coffee hot!
A morning toast! Bring on another pot.

Suko lang ko ani kai gi-duwaduwan ra ang mga pasyente nga ignorant sa medical understanding. Gi ilad ra nila intawn ang mga pasyente sa ilang 'produktong ginseng koreano'.

Unethical ni sila kaayo! The medical doctor who headed this so called medical mission should be ashamed of himself.

This is unfathomable. I cannot believe that they were telling the patients to buy herbal medicine in a supposed "free clinic" drive. First of all, since the medical doctor was present, he should know that patients with health problems should be taking prescription medicine instead of herbal medicine.

I could not read the entire article. Na luod gayod ko ning basa ani....

I wish I was present to correct this nurse who told that the patient had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy! Some one should have said to her, "hoy, nurse, kahibalo diay ka ani? wa galing ka ning use of MRI og XRAY pero kahibalo ka nga naa koy hypertrophic cardiomyoapathy? unsa man diay ka, living EKG machine? Maka kita diay ka nga pronounced kaayo ang QRS complex? Maka kita diay ka nga inverted ang T-wave ? "

Paka Uwaw !

Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”

Proverbs 27:9-10 :

9 Oil and perfume rejoice the heart; so does the sweetness of a friend's counsel that comes from the heart.
10 Your own friend and your father's friend, forsake them not; neither go to your brother's house in the day of your calamity. Better is a neighbor who is near (in spirit) than a brother who is far off (in heart).
