We have documents to prove that she only talked to DENR after she had cut the trees. DENR officials said Mayor Piezas had said she just wanted to prone the trees.

Oh, by the way, please check the mayor's house. New furniture set is coming?

Wow, is this a perfect example of Boomerang! Rule of court: "What is presented in the open is subject to cross. Where else we can catch the fish by the mouth isn't? Now more cans of worms will be opened...Don't blame us?

The orientation of the people in the Philippines and here (US) as far as gun ownership is different. Here you can flip your middle finger if somebody cut you in the road. In the Philippines, if you do that someone will put a bullet in your head.

That is why, in my personal opinion gun ownership in the Philippines should remaim restricted.

There was a research done in University of Bonn about talking to plants. They attached cables to the leaves and how plants response to a nice and kind voice, a weak signal showed that the plants responded positively ,  they grew well and taller .

Being an Agriculturist by profession, I believe this is true as we are always told by our professors the same way.

this is a redundancy of functions. i will surely vote for the abolishment of the partylist system. it's not really serving it's purpose. it's being used by other people to gain entry to congress to get pork barrel to spent and squander for personal gains. what's the real purpose of putting district congressmen who can represent it's constituents that covers everything from marginalized sector down to indigents? isn't that enough? if party list is abolished, the government can save alot of money and the same time weaken the enemies of the state. right now, they are funding their own enemies.

Very well said...ang uban nga party-list tinukod usab sa mga politiko, non-political arm of the political lord mao nga masolo gyud ang power..But, in fairness there are some that really serve their sectoral constituents, sadly, still a duplication.

Marksmanship, is what counts the most. An example is my sister, she is an innate sharpshooter (in terms of academics, and in terms of shooting, haha).

It takes her a while to shoot, but her shots are dead-on accurate, even on the 100, to 300 yard range. (no scopes used, btw).

~

In battlefield tactics, it is the sniper who holds the higher ground. A well-hidden sharshooter sniper may not fire as rapidly as a platoon of assault troops (armed with rifles), but for sure, a sniper can wipe out an entire platoon..with his/her accuracy.

Moral: It's not the quantity, its the quality that counts...

There is no problem with that. The petition is an advocacy type of endeavor, it is unending campaign, there is no time frame, but, what we are talking here is a direct hands-on TB project meaning,  whoever agree to join this plight must invest time, resources and efforts directly to the project.

This one has a time frame, mechanics of implementation and lots of coordination efforts.

Yes, let us start from our own backyard.
We will plant Bohol with trees.
Let us start in Guindulman.
Kinsay taga Guindulman dinhi sa TB?
Kindly connect to your Mayor.
Ingna nga mag-tree planting ang members
sa TubagBohol. Ingna nga pwede kaha butangan
ug island balik tong highway fronting the market?
i know pwede jod na, diskarte man na sa Mayor.
Go ako sa greening Bohol.
Shall we call it Operation Green?

I can help in drafting the mechanics of implementation, from the grass root levels up to the Mayor level, including sources of funding schemes, of course the planting materials. Maybe a Tripartite Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) can be executed by TB, the LGU and DENR.

All we need, is a project proposal, submit to SB and once approved by the SB, we negotiate with DENR for the provisions of planting materials.
In order to have a legal representation of the TB or a personality to enter into an agreement, there must be an AdHoc committee that serves on interim capacity to negotiate.

It is like forming a formal organization.

There is no need for credit, once the TB spearheads the campaign it is TB. Reforestation or tree planting is only one of the many service projects that TB can do should we unite ourselves.

Mag project ug daghan aron (you know).

There are so many simple projects that the Office of the Governor can spearhead without spending so much money assuming the budget is tight.
1)   Installation of traffic lights and traffic signs in major thoroughfares, highways and major crossings
2)   Declare a Provincial Tree Planting Day with a mandatory participation of all government employees, students, private sectors, businesses, the citizens of Bohol. It may sound undemocratic by forcing the people to participate, however, we should remember that the process of change is always painful; it is always a built-in circumstance.
3)   Update our text-books so we can produce more quality graduates. Make the student s of Bohol competitive enough by providing them with the necessary learning facilities
4)   Set-up a One Stop Employment Center.
5)   Conduct blood donation drive and blood typing data base
6)   Enforce recycling laws in Bohol if there is, and pass a law if it is not in place
7)   Conduct trainings on first aid and CPR down to the barangay level or even by cluster.

The list is endless...

The goal of the game was to charge the other team and capture their flag and bring it to our base; no more than 15 soldiers per team. I remember having lieutenants (2 of them) and the rest followed orders as dictated. The 1st llieutenant's role was to charge the 1st wave, the 2nd lieutenant's role was to command the 2nd wave. The tactical strategem was always thrilling when the 1st wave was wiped out, I would holler to my lietenant to 'LEAD THE 2ND WAVE!'

And if all was lost, I charged with them, "FORWARD!"

haha, after recess, our teacher asked why we were tachycardic and tachypnic a well as sweating. We just laughed it off.

Very nice. The G is smooth like a Caddy; the Magnum is rough, the trick is shooting it with one hand (my Uncle Steve taught me a trick to shoot it the right way).

There is nothing like shooting a gun. A surge of testosterone comes over you. My sister, is quite a sharpshooter. She's great with rifles...deadly accurate.

I joked with her, "You should have been a sniper..."

She replied, "Yea, i should've..."

ha ha ha.

I have good marksmanship but am really slow in drawing my weapon, and I am  left eye dominant and a right hand shooter.  However,  I already fixed that, I shoot with both my eyes open. Sometimes our range will not allowed us to fire from the holster. I hate doing indoor actually.

Another group of gun enthusiasts asked members of Congress on Saturday to pass a law that will relax existing rules on gun ownership amid proposals of a possible implementation of a permanent total gun ban policy.

Perry Punla, an advocate of total pro gun and president of Gun Enthusiast Confederation of the Philippines, said there is a need for lawmakers to draft a law that would give people “the right, not just the privilege to own a gun.”

Punla issued the statement after a multi-sectoral group of gun afficionados held a series of meetings in Club Filipino in Greenhills, San Juan few days ago to come up with a "common voice" in airing their side on the issue of proposed permanent implementation of the total gun ban policy now being considered by the PNP.

I don’t know what is the impact of this on the people, kay kung mahubog maoy ra ba nang uban.

I hope that these people are aware of their legitimate rights, because if they are not, they will be exploited just like other minority tribes in our country. They should also avail of some government grants and programs for the development of their community.

Like natural resources, indigenous people enjoys protective statue as well. Our government and the people shall also work together to preserve their heritage.

Bran, try to visit sa Bohol Provincial Jail when you are in Bohol. Luoy kaayo ang kahimtang. You can also visit sa provincial jail sa Cebu.

If you are in the county jail in the US, it is like living in a club house compared to the people in the 3rd world. The inmates' dormitories are equipped with television, telephones, 24/7 availability of medical care, served with foods supervised by dieaticians, regular recreation, church service and all forms of amenities.

A book cart for their reading requirements, free mailing envelopes and stamps for writing if you cant afford to buy, free toiletries and free laundry of uniforms and beddings twice a week. free photocopy of legal materials, and free phone calls to attorneys.

Nice life eh.

Wolf, what a beautiful message. It really does put a 'local level' to Mahatma Gandhi's "Be the change you want to see in the world."

Rizal said that the children are the hope of the fatherland, and if they are we need to prepare them for the future. What kind of future we expect if we don’t train, develop, educate and equip our children with the necessary tools to run the world 30 years or so.?

We need to nurture our children with love and emotional security, so they will grow into wholesome adults and responsible persons. It is not literally mean parenting, but, the children as a whole component of the social structure; the most vulnerable and yet, indispensable human resource for continual existence of human life and social orders.

I adhere to the idea of paradigm shift by going down to the basic. Show our children that we care in doing that we are forging a whole new world.

As always I am an active supporter of Save the Children Foundation, through advocacy and meager resources, we can make a difference in the lives of children.

Wala na ko kasabot ani. Ngano nga gimantala man dinhi ang kahawod sa Guindulman ug sa mga lumulupyo niini? Tinuod man o dili, nganong imudmod man sa atong nawong kining maong mga kasayoran?

Diversionary tactic man ni. Wala intawon, oi. Ngano gud intawon nga panawayon man ang lungsod. Gipanalipdan man gani.

Kutaw sad akong libog ani nga issue.

While I understand that he has the same freedom as we do to express opinions, however, what he offered here is really out of context.

Self-heckling or maybe a star-complex kind of thing, whatever, it is, surely an obvious re-routing of the real issue.

If God grant me the power to change the course of destiny, I will make a difference in the lives of children around the world. But the world is too big for me, too impractical to dream about. It is even too ambitious to dream of helping the children of the Philippines. My meager resources are just enough to take care the children in my own backyard.

Charity begins at home, but I wish I can do more.

There is no better satisfaction but to see the world through the eyes of a child. That is so compelling and compassionate.

OMG..!!

This is unbelievable..!!

If you look at the summary of posts that "Guindulman" has in this blog forum as of today, May 29, 2010 among the 40 plus towns of Bohol, there are about more than 1,200 posts, few hundreds less than Valencia.

Of course with bigger population and land areas of Ubay and Tagbilaran, they have the highest number of posts. And that is expected.

But for Guindulman, this is a big surprise, though it has slight bigger population and land area compared to Jagna.

What does this mean?

1.) GUINDULMAN IS ALWAYS HOT.
It has lots of hot stuff that people would love to talk about. When interesting and intelligent Guindulmanons talk, other Boholanos all over listen. Hmm, that is quite interesting.

2.) It is either that there is a jealousy component that other non-Guindulmanons have regarding our people and would love to bring them and Guindulman town down or they are riding its popularity in order to learn how our town blossomed to be what it is right now.

3.) There might have Guindulmanons that have the money or perhaps millionaires that they cannot beat money-wise and they can't get over that. They tend to discredit them because that is the only way they can beat them, at least they tried. Not going to happen. Guess what, Gunidulmanons know how they do their businesses here and abroad and they are not going to tell you. Duh..!!

4.) Guindulmanons are expressive and open to all sorts of good ideas and they work as a team toward a common goal. That is really a good thing, hmmm.

5.) Guindulmanons are educated and smart. They can bring lots of ideas to the table. It is a matter of time that the town will grow into another CITY in the future in this Southeastern part of Bohol.

6.) Guindulmanons are "beautiful" people genetically. The breeding of the Tamblot tribe that used to live close to Tabajan River and the Spaniards in the Sawang part of Poblacion was the best heritage our forefathers gave us. Tamblot's men were fighting against the Spaniards during Spanish colonization of the Philippines.

7.) Guindulmanons are known to be artists: they are known to be painters, choreographers, dancers, make-up artists, hairstylists, creative songwriters, singers, stage perfomers, and the like. And they like to decorate themselves, one way or another, to be noticed or objects of envy.

8.) Guindulmanons are go-getters (perhaps aggressive sometimes). They know what they want and they go for it.

9.) They are trendsetters of "southeastern" Bohol. They are being looked into, looked at, criticized a lot, or being pulled down but they are resilient. They go up further higher if they are being pulled down.

Those who are Guindulmanon detractors, you can chase us or bring us down, but the entire town will shine.

SHINE GUINDULMAN SHINE.

There are lots of foristas in here that are NOT Guindulmanons. They are here to bring us down. They criticize us to the max. But we, Guindulmanons, know better and they will go and move forward and upward whether you like it or not..

The "doom" curse is nowhere to be found. It is no longer around..!!!

Wow, very well said.

However, the fact remains that there is an on-going environmental issue in your town perpetrated by the incumbent mayor in collaboration with DENR employees.

The bottom line is, no matter what, nobody can bring the trees back. That is the issue here on TB no more no less. You are right; this issue is really very emotional. It is about conscience, it is about respect to our environment, it is about a crime to humanity, it is about commitment to protect Mother Earth, it is about being a Boholano.

It is about responsibilities that every Boholano should share in whatever capability we can afford to offer.

It's the flock, the grove, that matters.
Our responsibility is to species, not to specimens;
to communities, not to individuals."

You are so right, Wolf. My father, who is a man of science and logic, has reservations in regards to superstition. He cautioned me once, "It is better to practice restraint than to denounce everything that you do not understand."

I did heed his wisdom and take everything with a grain of salt when hearing/listening to things. And as for superstitious beliefs, tho i may have personal objections to them, i will not deny that there are things that happen that are unexplained or unexplainable.

If we believe that there is a God of Love, then there is also a place for satan and his devils who may take up the powers of this world and the powers of these so called 'diwatas/ mga enkantas'.
