This lake has been drawn by Chinese artists for thousands of years. I want to visit this lake, which has influenced many hundreds of chinese emperors in the past. beautiful lake, truly. the background, the rolling hills, is so quintessentially Chinese.

A traditional Chinese mannerism to show Humility is by forming a fist with one hand and covering it with the other hand. The fist is covered by an open palm, signifying one's yielding of hostility towards peace, a sign of humility. This is an ancient Chinese way of signifying peace, humility, and respect.

Chan Chu (Chinese: 蟾蜍; pinyin: chánchú; Wadeâ€"Giles: ch'an-ch'u) means "toad" or "frog", especially the "Lucky Money Toad" (Chinese: 招财蟾蜍; pinyin: zhāocái chánchú; literally "wealth-beckoning toad") or "Three-legged Money Frog", a popular Chinese symbol for prosperity. It often depicts a bullfrog portrayed with red eyes and flared nostrils, sitting on a pile of traditional Chinese cash, with a coin in its mouth. According to Feng Shui lore, it is believed to drive away evil, protect wealth, and increase income.

A sunken Bangka and Dauis Bridge.

My personal translation of this photo:

The eternal beauty of the island of Bohol. In the center of the picture is a sunken banka , an epitome of human invention that was used to conquer the seas, a testament to human engineering and impeccable design. Yet , despite the design, the numerous travels, the banka returns to the earth, sunken, eroding in its primordial nature as a derivative of a carbonic wood, now in one with the primordial soup that created life, the water, the sea, from whence all life in this earth came from. The presence of the clouds indicate and symbolize the destructive power of the earth, the peculiarity that defines the ecological , stratospheric and atmospheric nature of the planet. Yet there is a eternal peace, a semblance of beauty that cannot be erased despite the external forces of nature and of man-- the beauty of the Island of Bohol remains. The green trees, the plants, the conquest of the roots on some impeculiar rock edifice, signifies the triumph of Bohol over the ever-changing times and external forces. It permeates , it reverberates, it echoes the beauty of simplicity, the paramount triumph of origin over the complexities of the external. From primordial epoch to present times, Bohol stands, from past , to present, to future, Bohol is, will be, and ever shall be.

Man rises and falls, but Bohol shall always be there. A testament , a fingerprint, to the Creator God who designed all things to exist as they exist.

i don't know the name of the noodle dish that my Lola used to cook, but she used to prepare during my youngerdays. If i could compare it to a dish that i eat regularly here , i would compare it to singapore style lomein, but lola's version didn't have curry in it. the noodles were thin, and she used a lot of mixed veggies in it, and used a lot of king mushrooms (these have a consistency of meat, n are very chewy), n some other spices she used to add in it. arang lami'a kaajo. ive been trying to find a noodle dish that tasted just like it, but a las, nothing comes close to Lola's cooking....honestly. :(

True, you have a point about the Vietnam War. In regards to China, tho, the United States will not attack China first. The presence of the USN in the region is a sign of austerity and fidelity with the Philippines and a show to remind the Chinese that if the Philippines is attacked by Chinese naval vessels, then the Mutual Defense Treaty will be invoked and it will be forced to come to the aid of the Philippines. Let us hope that the stand off in the SCS won't result in military provocation.

Sometimes, God speaks to people by humbling them and teaching them a lesson. Perhaps, the Corona Family can learn from this situation a very important moral lesson....as for Mr. Renato Corona, despite his failings as a public figure, he can at least accept the fact that he failed in his public duty. In the end, its just money, and all of this will come to pass; what he does to reconcile with his family, and most importantly, hopefully he can come to peace with GOD and accept this lesson as a purification for the soul. Sometimes, being reprimanded and corrected is not a bad thing.

May God give strength to Mr. Renato Corona to live a better life now. And learn from this...and move on.
