big boss mike,

para naay mabasa ang atong mga fans, readers, critics  hihihi, dinhi na lang ko mag koris koris, suwat suwat instead of sending you PM. wala man unta koy plano nga mo uli rong tuiga. next year pa unta kay dad-on na pod naho ang mga barkada from cebu mo duwa sa maribojoc. GOD has been so good to me. i have come a long way. where before, ma ibog ko mag tan-aw sa mga basketball players parading around the streets of poblacion gwapo kaayo ug mga uniforms. mag pongko lang ko sa daplin, mag tabisay ang laway. kay wa man intawoy mag pa apil nga team. kay gawas nga pobre, di pa jud ko kamao mo duwa. perteng banga-a. karon maka afford na ko ug hold ug basketball tournament, giving basketball uniforms and BIG prizes.

when i saw fr. jingboy saco's facebook video, diin nag duwa duwa ang mga gagmatitoy nga bata nga gi train ni coach dodong bangalao of the UB varsity in basic basketball skills, naka decide ko nga mo lighot ug uli. to announce to the kids 12 and below nga ang BALONG n BOKATCH FOUNDATION mohatag ug kalingawan para sa mga bata. a basketball tournament w/ BIG prizes. never in the history of basketball in our town nga mahitabo ni. nga ang 1st prize nga  ihatag is $1000 or 50 mil pesos. ahong purpose para ganahan mag duwa duwa ang mga bata instead of doing hithit, mag drugs. rampant na kaayo ang drugs sa maribojoc.

dili na jud seguro matabang. nia na jud ning problemaha. it will not go away. mao nga para naa koy mahimong gamay, mao na lang ni ahong himo-on. manag-ing ko sa NBA nga ang games mo dagan ug pila ka buwan. im planning for the tournament nga year round. way bugto. duwa-on ug weekends kanang walay klase. i want to give something back to our town. karon nga medyo maka afford na ko.

before our exhibition game on october 1, i invite atty. & mrs. mike ligalig to calape. soroy ta ug calape boss on sept.29. beerthday sa ahong brother in law. pinangga ko sa ahong maguwang. retired elem. school teacher. aside from the traditional lechon, duha lang god ka book, naa pa juy pogapo nga nag kisi kisi pa inig hongit nimo. perte ka fresh kay naa man silay fish cage.

to answer your question, mo abot ko sa bohol sept. 26. hinaut nga imo kong tagbo-on sa tagbilaran airport uban sa band, all the bugles and drums announcing the arrival of BALSKIE the GREAT. asenso na ko ron. balskie na ko , dili na balong kay stateside gud ta.

looking forward to playing against your team, lami unta to boss nga mo duwa pod ka ba. ako bitaw mo duwa man gihapon ko. for ceremonial purposes. hihihi. mag dagan dagan sa court bale ug usa ka minuto good for picture taking.

everyone is invited to maribojoc. gawas nga malingaw mo sa exhibition basketbol game, naa pa juy daghang ipanghatag nga prizes to the audience like tubagbohol.com tshirts

big boss mike,

ga patahi na ug uniforms ang BOKATCH bbol team. ahong kauban nga players ang parish priest ug mayor sa maribojoc. so ang mga players sa bokatch is the parish priest, jingboy saco. kamao mo duwa pero di na man batan-on. ang mayor ahong barkada kamao mo duwa sauna. sa among kabatan-on. and there's me imported NBA player hihihi. kay taga states man ko. ang probability ani, basin murder ang labas kay ang BOKATCH players igo igo ra man pod. wa jud ka champion sa liga sa maribojoc.

nahuman ra jud ang band camp sa ahong anak. so maka lugar na ko ug gawas. i will send the money for tubagbohol uniforms tomorrow.

kini gong panghatag, dili man naga gikan sa atong ka adunahan kon dili nagikan kini sa atong kasingkasing. bisan gaka pangka ko ug apas sa mga bayronon nga bills, maka logos gihapon ko ug hatag. bisan ginagmay lang gud. it is my belief that the more you give, the more you receive. someday all that i have given away will come back to me para inig ka tiguwang naho, di na ko mag lisod

at your service.

I now bring the authority, rule, and dominion of the Lord Jesus Christ and the full work of Christ over my life today: over my home, my household, my work, over all my kingdom and domain. I bring the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ and the full work of Christ against every evil power coming against meâ€"against every foul spirit, every foul power and device. [You might need to name themâ€"what has been attacking you?] I cut them off in the name of the Lord; I bind and banish them from me and from my kingdom now, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. I also bring the full work of Christ between me and every person, and I allow only the love of God and only the Spirit of God between us.

Holy Spirit, thank you for coming. I love you, I worship you, I trust you. I receive all the work and triumph in Pentecost, through which you have come, you have clothed me with power from on high, sealed me in Christ, become my union with the Father and the Son, the Spirit of truth in me, the life of God in me, my counselor, comforter, strength, and guide. I honor you as Lord, and I fully give to you every aspect and dimension of my spirit, soul, and body, my heart, mind, and willâ€"to be filled with you, to walk in step with you in all things. Fill me afresh, Holy Spirit. Restore my union with the Father and the Son. Lead me into all truth, anoint me for all of my life and walk and calling, and lead me deeper into Jesus today. I receive you with thanks, and I give you total claim to my life.

Heavenly Father, thank you for granting to me every spiritual blessing in Christ Jesus. I claim the riches in Christ Jesus over my life today. I bring the blood of Christ once more over my spirit, soul, and body, over my heart, mind, and will. I put on the full armor of God: the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of the gospel, helmet of salvation; I take up the shield of faith and sword of the Spirit, and I choose to be strong in the Lord and in the strength of your might, to pray at all times in the Spirit.

Jesus, thank you for your angels. I summon them in the name of Jesus Christ and instruct them to destroy all that is raised against me, to establish your Kingdom over me, to guard me day and night. I ask you to send forth your Spirit to raise up prayer and intercession for me. I now call forth the kingdom of God throughout my home, my household, my kingdom, and domain in the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ, giving all glory and honor and thanks to him. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Jesus, thank you for coming to ransom me with your own life. I love you, worship you, trust you. I give myself over to you to be one with you in all things. I receive all the work and triumph of your cross, death, blood, and sacrifice for me, through which my every sin is atoned for, I am ransomed, delivered from the kingdom of darkness, and transferred to your kingdom; my sin nature is removed, my heart circumcised unto God, and every claim being made against me is cancelled and disarmed. I take my place now in your cross and death, dying with you to sin, to my flesh, to this world, to the evil one and his kingdom. I take up the cross and crucify my flesh with all its pride, arrogance, unbelief, and idolatry [and anything else you are currently struggling with]. I put off the old man. Apply to me all the work and triumph in your cross, death, blood, and sacrifice; I receive it with thanks and give it total claim to my spirit, soul, and body, my heart, mind, and will.

Jesus, I also receive you as my Life, and I receive all the work and triumph in your resurrection, through which you have conquered sin, death, judgment, and the evil one. Death has no power over you, nor does any foul thing. And I have been raised with you to a new life, to live your lifeâ€"dead to sin and alive to God. I take my place now in your resurrection and in your life, and I give my life to you to live your life. I am saved by your life. I reign in life through your life. I receive your hope, love, faith, joy, your goodness, trueness, wisdom, power, and strength. Apply to me all the work and triumph in your resurrection; I receive it with thanks, and I give it total claim to my spirit, soul, and body, my heart, mind, and will.

Jesus, I also sincerely receive you as my authority, rule, and dominion, my everlasting victory against Satan and his kingdom, and my ability to bring your Kingdom at all times and in every way. I receive all the work and triumph in your ascension, through which Satan has been judged and cast down, and all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to you. All authority in the heavens and on this earth has been given to you, Jesus, and you are worthy to receive all glory and honor, power and dominion, now and forever. I take my place now in your authority and in your throne, through which I have been raised with you to the right hand of the Father and established in your authority. I give myself to you, to reign with you always. Apply to me all the work and triumph in your authority and your throne; I receive it with thanks and I give it total claim to my spirit, soul, and body, my heart, mind, and will.

My dear Lord Jesus, I come to you now to be restored in you, renewed in you, to receive your life and your love and all the grace and mercy I so desperately need this day. I honor you as my Lord, and I surrender every aspect and dimension of my life to you. I give you my spirit, soul, and body, my heart, mind, and will. I cover myself with your bloodâ€"my spirit, soul, and body, my heart, mind, and will. I ask your Holy Spirit to restore me in you, renew me in you, and lead this time of prayer. In all that I now pray, I stand in total agreement with your Spirit and with all those praying for me by the Spirit of God and by the Spirit of God alone.

Dearest God, holy and victorious Trinity, you alone are worthy of all my worship, my heart’s devotion, all my praise, all my trust, and all the glory of my life. I love you, I worship you, I give myself over to you in my heart’s search for life. You alone are Life, and you have become my life. I renounce all other gods, every idol, and I give to you, God, the place in my heart and in my life that you truly deserve. This is all about you, and not about me. You are the Hero of this story, and I belong to you. I ask your forgiveness for my every sin. Search me, know me, and reveal to me where you are working in my life, and grant to me the grace of your healing and deliverance and a deep and true repentance.

Heavenly Father, thank you for loving me and choosing me before you made the world. You are my true Fatherâ€"my creator, redeemer, sustainer, and the true end of all things, including my life. I love you, I trust you, I worship you. I give myself over to you, Father, to be one with you as Jesus is one with you. Thank you for proving your love for me by sending Jesus. I receive him and all his life and all his work which you ordained for me. Thank you for including me in Christ, forgiving me my sins, granting me his righteousness, making me complete in him. Thank you for making me alive with Christ, raising me with him, seating me with him at your right hand, establishing me in his authority, and anointing me with your love and your Spirit and your favor. I receive it all with thanks and give it total claim to my lifeâ€"my spirit, soul, and body, my heart, mind, and will.

‘The happiest boy’
So is still a legal resident and not yet a U.S. citizen, even while playing under the U.S. federation. He travels with his Philippines passport, which requires a truckload of paperwork for the visa acquisitions.

It’s also presented at least one sour memory among Turkish police in the Istanbul airport, on a day when So didn’t quite have the proper visa to reach Azerbaijan. Key tells this story, tells how the police went to Google to see if their story of this young chess grandmaster held up, tells how at some point, she felt scared.

At this, So lets out a giant kid’s giggle.

“He is, naturally, the happiest boy I’ve ever met,” she said.

This happiness seems to fit in the vast chess woods and their ever-gathering severity. So sighs that computer programs “have really made the chess life much more difficult than it should be.” He laughs briefly, then continues: “Because there are millions of games online, which, and I, myself, I’ve played over a thousand chess games, so my opponents look at those and they look at my recent games and try to figure out the best possible way for him to try to outplay me.”

If things continue like this, it’s plausible that one of those opponents could be Carlsen, maybe sometime late next year, maybe in a challenge for the summit. That would be something, given that seven years ago, as Key and So tell it, Carlsen secretly invited a 16-year-old So to Spain to help Carlsen prepare him for an event. At that point, neither might have envisioned some rematch that would be so towering, but would figure to find Wesley So weathering the violence as if half-thinking about a pleasant memory.

Amid all of this hushed violence from city to city and country to country, Key has imposed a structure. “There is no partying, no drinking, no drugging, no smoking, no eating fast food, no Internet,” she said. “We don’t have a cellphone, either one of us. Our daughter has the cellphone. She’s the secretary. Everything is geared toward being the best you can be. Because I tell him there’s a short window in life where you can be the best you can be, and young people throw this away. So we created an atmosphere for him where he can focus on being the best he can be. It’s pretty disciplined.”

Into that frame, she aims to tuck real-life, non-chess excursions: chunks of time off, church, barbecues, museums, state fairs, hiking, canoeing, Asian restaurants, falafel restaurants, social events, and lately a Minnesota Twins game.

They went to the stadium. They posted their family photo on Facebook. So sat next to Kabigting, and asked questions about the rules. He showed a grasp of much of it on the car ride home.

“Well, it’s a really simple game,” he said.

“No, it’s not, for the rest of us,” Key said.

“I think chess is a hundred times harder,” So said.

“I think the hardest part about baseball,” he said, “is for when you’re a hitter, you know. You have to hit the ball very accurately. Also you have to be very powerful. And I suppose it takes years to master.”

Told that those who master it three times out of every 10 tend to wind up in the Hall of Fame, So said, “Because the thrower is extremely good, too, right?”

More dialogue about the throwers ensues, and then So has a question: “What happens if you hit the ball, and one of the defenders caught it? Is it a strike?”

“No, it’s an out.”

“So you don’t get the run,” he said. “So that’s hard, too.”

‘It’s pretty disciplined’
So has emerged from out of the chess way, with less of the formal chess training. A shy boy who took up the game in earnest around age 8 and would wake to study chess books and whatnot, he turned up as part of the Philippines team at the Chess Olympiad in Turin, Italy, in 2006, at age 12. By January 2012, when he prepared to venture to the United States to play for chess powerhouse Webster University in St. Louis, he held a world ranking of No. 98. He refers to that as low, revealing an elite athlete’s mind-set.

That mind-set seems to have taken itself into the pool at his adoptive family’s local gym. When So moved to Minnesota with Key’s and Kabigting’s family, he couldn’t swim, a reality odd to Key given a homeland of 7,107 islands. Now he swims nonstop for about a mile, they say.

“Backstroke, and also front-stroke,” he said charmingly.

“Ah, well,” he said, “chess is not just about playing. It’s other aspects. I have to improve my mental state. I have to be tougher, more confident, more comfortable playing the top guys. More experienced. Out of the top 10 or top 20 in the world, I have the least experience out of all of it. I’ve only been a chess professional for two-and-a-half years. . . . And I also need to improve my physical conditioning, because each game can last to anywhere up to six hours and each tournament usually has around 10 games, so that’s a lot of work, and the person with more energy in the last hour has a lot of advantage.”

Further: “And also, I need to improve my chess skills, too, my end game. And my middle game. Knowing when to take risks, knowing when not to take risks, and finding my own style. In chess, every player has their own style. Some people can be really aggressive, while others can be more calm. I think I tend to play more quietly, and I tend to play longer, like more solidly. I don’t just go out there and . . . ”

He trailed off there.

“I don’t really start the game with a bang,” he said earlier. “I don’t go for all-out complications at a very early stage of the game. I mean, some players just want to fight: You know, it’s either a win or a loss, it’s very unstable.”

“It always looks like he’s half playing the game and half thinking about a pleasant memory,” said Tony Rich, the executive director of the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of St. Louis, the organizing body for the U.S. title event. Rich finds So “self-effacing,” and fancies a story of when So played a post-tournament exhibition last year against consensus best-player-ever Garry Kasparov, and Kasparov looked the more theatrical of the two. “He doesn’t try to play the flashy move just to make everyone happy,” Rich said. “He plays very concretely. He just seems to play the right move at the right time.”

Thus did Kasparov tweet last December, in congratulating So on the Grand Chess Tour win in London, “He showed great consistency and, bad news for opponents, he’s still improving.”

On Thursday, So and Key made off for Norway and then a binge of events in Europe. It’s plausible that over the Atlantic, he contorted himself into some posture that allowed for sleep, and slept. “Oh my g***,” Key said. “When we’re on our way to church in the car â€" yeah, he can fall asleep anywhere, anytime, night or day, within seconds. And everybody starts laughing in the car” â€" that includes Key’s husband, Renato Kabigting, and their daughter, Abbey â€" “because we can see Wesley’s head. He’ll be talking and then the sudden …” She droops her head. “And we’re all like [whispering]. I always say he must have a good conscience somewhere in there, because he does not struggle with complete blackout.”

“Do you dream about chess?”

“Never,” he said.

After a brief discussion on sleep â€" he also does so in taxis, lounges, so on â€" it comes up that he’s No. 2 in a world of 7 billion.

“Well, not all of them play chess,” he deadpans.

Then: “Well, I never thought I would be number two. But now that I’m here, I want to try to be number one. I’m not entirely satisfied with number two. I mean, I’m very happy to get there, but I hope I can reach further.”

MINNETONKA, Minn. â€" This ruthless man is very tranquil. He falls asleep easily around the world in seats unsuited for sleeping. He giggles a child’s treble giggle when you don’t expect. He asks charming novice questions about baseball. He can speak measuredly at length or speak not at all, while sanguine with either. His capable wit emerges only on soft occasion. Chess people rave about his surpassing calm.

It seems the only place to avoid Wesley So would be the other side of a chessboard. There, he will take his tranquility and shred you with it. There, he seems to avoid grimacing, or sighing, or running his hands through his hair, or all the things people tend to do when presented with high ambition, time limits and the eternal 64-square puzzle.

So has risen, at 23, to No. 2 in the world, lodged behind only 26-year-old Norwegian Magnus Carlsen, who has been No. 1 for almost the whole 2010s. At the barbaric board, So has stormed into a realm found by only 11 other humans, a peak Elo rating of above 2800, a mastery of a game so bloody violent.

“Oh, it’s a violent game!” said Lotis Key, So’s adoptive mother, formerly a movie actress in the Philippines who immigrated to the United States in the 1980s. “Extremely. I say this game has an undercurrent of violence that is unsurpassed in any ball sport. It’s a very violent game, very aggressive . . . This is, once you start, someone’s got to die here. And on his level, even a draw is a small death, because he loses points when he draws. When you’re that high, drawing is like losing.”

In this savage pursuit, So, a calm native Filipino who plays under the U.S. chess federation â€" and credits the latter with enabling his upsurge â€" went unbeaten for 67 matches in a row in elite play from last July to this April. He won major events in St. Louis (August) and London (December) and the Netherlands (January), then won the U.S. championship in St. Louis in April. He won and won without bombast, even if his knight-takes-F2 move in a round in April in St. Louis did stoke rapture from all those people who know precisely why a knight-takes-F2 move could stoke rapture. With fellow bright lights Fabiano Caruana (No. 4 in the world) and Hikaru Nakamura (No. 9), So has helped make one hell of an American chess era while still not American just yet. He did all this while waking sometimes in his adoptive home here and getting going on his eight hours of chess study such that his adoptive mother tells him, “You should really wash your face first.”

“‘Oh, okay,’” Key quotes So’s usual response, as she sits across the cafe table from him at a library near Minneapolis.

His own voice sounds calming, soothing, something you might prefer on the radio if you wake in the wee hours, as when he says, “It’s my first time winning the U.S. championship, so I feel like I accomplished something, hopefully, because all the great local players starting in the early 1920s have won this tournament, and I’d never won it yet. So right now I’m, by rating, the number one player in the U.S., but I feel if I didn’t win the U.S. championship, it’s not validating my profession.”

With the profession further validated, they completed the post-tournament hubbub, made arrangements to depart St. Louis, got the taxi to the plane, stood in line, boarded, took off and only then, Key said, “He’ll turn to me, and say, ‘Oh my, I actually won it.’ We were on our way to Azerbaijan.”

‘He’s still improving’
Even among the chess-initiated, So’s calm stands out.

“There’s almost a seeming effortlessness to his ascent that’s a bit surprising to me,” said Daniel Lucas, the director of publications at the United States Chess Federation. “I think about Joe DiMaggio or Roger Federer who make what they do look easy, when what they’re doing is extraordinarily hard.”

“I wouldn’t say like a machine, but he is very precise, very precise, and I think that’s something unique about him,” said Alexander Onischuk, the American grandmaster from Ukraine who coaches the chess team at Texas Tech, and who opposed So in the U.S. final in April. “He doesn’t make big mistakes. He makes minor mistakes from time to time. We all do. But I’ve never seen him make a big mistake, a big blunder. That is very impressive. And look, all his results are very stable.”

The guy in the story is my brother. I showed it to him once I read it last December. He doesn't have a facebook account and he isn't really attuned to social media much so he wasn't able to see it for himself. I won't go into details regarding what happened after he saw the post but just know that we did everything in our power and exhausted every option to find ate. Awa naman ng universe, nahanap namin siya. It was a very bittersweet reunion. Of course a lot of things has changed since then but maybe this letter from my brother will convey our message much better. ""To The Diliman Files and its readers, ""Malaki siguro ang dapat kong ipagpasalamat sa Facebook page na ito for giving me the chance to reconnect with the best friend I've ever had and the woman I've loved all my life in a very special way. Marami sigurong nag-iisip na hindi ko siya minahal talaga dahil sa mga nangyari between us, but I can assure you, I loved her deeply. Sa mga nagtatanong rin kong posibleng magmahal ng dalawang tao at the same time, I can say, depende siguro sa tao, but in my case, yes. Yes, it is. I love my wife and son very much but I also love her so, so much. Her name is Mia and she deserves so to be recognized for being such a strong, brave and amazing woman. ""I'm a very private person. I don't usually expose my life to social media scrutiny but maybe this will express my gratitude better for helping me find Mia. This will be my penance too, for all the things I've done wrong in my life, for all the things I did to hurt you and for all the pain I've caused you. ""We had the perfect relationship. Our friends and parents always said that we were meant to be together. I know you've always wondered why I didn't go through with the wedding. I know you thought it was because I fell in love with another or because I didn't really love you in the first place but you'd be wrong. I loved you so much and I didn't go through with the wedding in large part because I was a coward. I was afraid that I only loved you because everyone told me that I should. It was a fool's thought, I admit. It retrospect, it was probably cold feet. I couldn't have been more stupid because when you left me, I died a little inside. I shouldn't have let you go. ""Eventually, I accepted that I made the biggest mistake of my life and moved on and got married. But then you came back and you were like a breath of fresh air. I decided then that I couldn't let you go again. Admittedly, it was another stupid thing for me to do because I already had a wife. I didn't want to make you into the other woman but damn it, I didn't care. I needed you so I followed you. ""I thought everything was going great while we were together in the States. But then we received news from my wife that we were expecting and things just went downhill from there. While I was mulling over the best course of action, you just suddenly left. Hindi man lang tayo nag-usap or nagkaintindihan man lang. ""I knew something was wrong kahit na noong magkasama pa lang tayo dun but I didn't say anything kasi akala ko, you just needed time. Akala ko sasabihin mo rin sa'kin kung anong dinaramdam mo kasi I was still your best friend, right? I knew I should've done better. I knew I should've showed you how much I really loved you, that I couldn't live without you. ""Tapos ngayon may sakit ka pala? Ano yun? Bakit hindi mo sinabi sakin? I get that you were trying to save me from the heartache, trying to prevent me from choosing between you and my wife and son. I knew our lives were complicated and it was largely my fault but you were my best friend first and foremost. I deserved to know what was going on. I realize that I hurt you so much, but the only way I can begin to make up for all the things I did was if you let me. I know I have no right to demand things from you. I know all these things but I can't help but be mad. I'm sorry Mia. You should've let me make the choice. I know I've not exactly been the best at making choices but I wanted to have that choice at least. I know this doesn't make a lot of sense to you. I don't really express myself properly most of the time. Madalas tayo mag-away regarding those things. If you're not sure about anything at all, just be sure of these things: one, I loved you. I loved you with all my heart. Maybe I didn't show it so much when we were together. I should have just focused on you. And two, I still love you in my own special way. You will always be my first love. You will always hold a special place in my heart. If you don't ever want to see me again, I will understand. But I just want to see you one more time. You said that you've accepted your fate, but I haven't. I can't. If nothing else, just give me this one last chance to say goodbye."" Ate Mia passed away last February 12. She and my kuya talked for the last time last February 10. They have a very complicated relationship. They did their best to cope in an impossible situation.

Love Talk / complicated love story

Before love, comes friendship. Friendship that has been built from solid rock. Couple’s bond started when they were still younger or even older. There’s a proverb: ‘You can never be friends with a guy without developing it to something else’. Which many couples can attest.

A woman named Mia posted her touching love story in UP Secret Files. Technology has a way of helping other people vent out their emotions through posting with these kind of pages. Secret files lets you be free and pour your heart out. Also, you can stay anonymous if you want to.

Mia’s lovestory was 18 years in the making. She met her first love at a classroom during their freshman year. They were inseperable from having the same classes, organizations and even together during lunch breaks. They became best of friends.

They spent Christmas with each others family. People that knew them were wondering why they weren’t dating which they shrugged and gave definite answers. But they talked about it and still nothing is official.

Then, Mia realized she was falling deep and can’t fathom life without him by her side. But she kept her feelings to her self in fear of loosing her best friend and first love.

One day, she was supposed to go home but was forced to stay in her apartment because she was so sick. He then knocked on her door step and took care of her the entire day. He sang Hey Jude from Beatles to lull her to rest. His gestures made Mia more deeply inlove.

A beautiful relationship started when he asked Mia on a date during Chirstmas break. She was ecstatic and in disbelief that finally he was starting to feel something for her.

They graduated at the University, then, a year after, he proposed to her in the place where they first met. Their friends and family helped him staged the sweet proposal which Mia said yes.

They decided to get married the next year. Unlike other brides, Mia’s wedding preparation was smooth sailing. Two weeks before they say I do, he kneeled infront of her and was asking to cancel the wedding. He was being a coward and so afraid that his love was not true. He felt like that he is oblige to love Mia because everyone said so.

Due to heartbreaks and devastation of reality, Mia went to the States to start fresh. Years has passed, he got married to someone else. Mia went back to the Philippines to visit some family members, when she bumped into him in a mall. Talk a about fate. They had awkward conversations but still managed to be adults.

Mia went back to the US and suddenly received an email from him. Saying he’s not in good terms with his wife and still inlove with her so he’s coming to the US to search for his lost soul.

They played house and selfish Mia grabbed their borrowed time. But their time has come to an end, he received a text from his wife that they were having a son. Mia decided to leave him and went into hiding because she can’t fathom being a homewrecker. He returned to the Philippines to be with his wofe and new born son.

You may hate Mia all you want, but the real reason she did what she did is because she was diagnosed with Stage 2A bone cancer. On her self defense, if you love someone you will do everything to be with him. She was spending her time left with her first love for selfish reasons. Lowkey, he never knew about Mia’s condition at all. Also, they never had any closure since Mia suddenly left.

This is not your ordinary love story/confession. Ang confession na ito ay almost 18 years in the making. Sana mapagbigyan kahit mahaba. Sinubukan ko namang pagkasyahin dito ang lahat ng nangyari within the last 18 years. Hindi man masyadong masaya ang ending, I regret nothing.
Nagkakilala tayo sa AS. Basta we were always together. We were the best of friends, yung tipong every other year magkasama mag-celebrate ng Christmas ang families natin.
Pati friends and orgmates natin lagi tayong tinutukso. All through the years natin sa UP, lagi nila tayong sinasabihan ng ganun pero di natin sila pinapansin.
Di naman kailangan maging OA pag in love.
I was wrong though.
Nainlove ako sayo. As in nahulog talaga. You were my first love.
I thought it was the start of a beautiful relationship.
And for the most part, it was. We were awesome together, dare I say perfect? Then, fast forward to one year later, 2003. With the help of your friends, nag propose ka sakin sa harap ng college kung san tayo unang nagkakilala. I was the happiest woman in the world when I said yes. Akala ko talaga yun na.
Nagkasundo tayo, pati pamilya natin, na magpakasal the next year. Never ako na-stress sa pagaayos ng kasal natin. Sobrang na-enjoy ko nga e. Pero two weeks before the actual wedding, dumating ang stress ko. Sabi mo na-pressure ka lang ng pamilya mo, mga kaibigan mo to pursue a relationship with me.
Na nag-settle ka lang for second best at since nakita mo na yung best, the love of your life, ready ka na mag move on.
After nun, sa sobrang humiliation and pain, I ran away to the States with my family and I never spoke to you again. I spent a few years there and tried to rebuild my life na nasira ng sobrang pagmamahal ko sayo. On my second year, sa US, nagkasakit ako. I was diagonsed with stage 2A bone cancer. Nasa lahi rin namin but still, it was surprising. May hope pa naman for treatment so lumaban ako. Radiation. Chemo. Ginawa ko lahat. For a while, I was in remission.
Bumalik yung cancer ko and this time, mas malala na sya.
Move on na. Catch up lang sa mga nangyari over the last four years. Halos 1 year na pala kayo.
Pero higit sa lahat, napaiyak ako kasi narealize kong after all these years, mahal na mahal pa rin kita.
Kilala kita e.
For a while, we played house. I did my best na itago sayo ang condition ko. There were days when I can barely get out of bed. Ganun kasakit. Pero you stayed with me. Took care of me.
During that time din, sinabi mo sakin na nagkamali ka. I'll take what I can get.
Then dumating yung time na kintatakutan ko. Simula nung dumating ka sa US, never mo sinagot ang emails and messages sayo ng kahit sinong kakilala mo sa Pilipinas. But then you began communicating with your wife again. I had no idea what the nature of your conversation was. Ang alam ko lang, eto na yun. Malapit ka nang umalis ulit. Malapit mo na kong iwan ulit.
Kaya naisip ko, kung sasabihin ko kaya sayo na may sakit ako, will you stay? You probably would. Wala akong pakialam.
New Year 2012. Iniwan kita.
So nagtago ako sayo. Itinago ako ng pamilya ko.
Kamakailan lang, nataningan na ko. Six months or less daw. It wasn't as scary as I thought it would be. Ngayon siguro, since nabigyan ako ng chance to be with you again kahit sandali lang, I'm more prepared to face what's going to happen to me. I guess it's true that the prospect of death changes your view of certain things.
Last I heard, you're back with your family. That's good. I love you so much, J. I never stopped. You were my first love and you will be my last. I had so many good memories with you. My college life was the happiest time of my life because of you. I hope you live a good life and be happy for the rest of your days.
If we weren't meant to be together in this life, then I hope we can be together in the next life. Goodbye.

One of the 37 victims who died of suffocation in the early Friday attack by a lone gunman at Resorts World Manila was the spouse of a congressman.

The death of Elizabeth Panlilio Gonzales, the wife of Pampanga Rep. Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales Jr., was announced by House Majority Leader Rodolfo Fariñas.

Fariñas divulged this to reporters after receiving a text message from Philippine National Police chief Ronald dela Rosa.
Quoting Dela Rosa, Fariñas said Elizabeth “died in the incident.”
The grieving Gonzales’ family could not be reached for comment.
Dela Rosa also told Fariñas that the police were still locating the victim’s sister, Consolacion Mijares, and that there was no report as to her whereabouts.
Mijares, however, was not on the list of confirmed fatalities released on Friday afternoon (see list below).
Rep. Gonzales is the vice chair of the House public works and highways committee and a deputy majority leader. He is a member of the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Laban party.

During the casino attack, the gunman also shot at a LED television monitor but did not shoot at the casino goers. Most of those who died suffocated in the smoke, the police said.

The suspect then holed himself up in one of the hotel rooms and then set himself on fire.
Dela Rosa deemed the attack as a robbery instead of a terrorist attack.

USA and Canada / World Order in the Age of Trump
June 01, 2017, 02:29:43 PM
World Order in the Age of Trump

The future world order will resemble a multiplex cinema involving a larger audience and multiple stakeholders. The world will be pluralistic with cultural and political diversity but fragmented international governance modules, rather than being directed by a global hegemon.

What does the United States President Donald Trump’s presidency mean for the geopolitical world, and how will his steps affect the international liberal order, were some of the questions that the Boeing Company Chair in International Relations at the Schwarzman Scholars Program, Tsinghua University, Beijing â€"  Professor Amitav Acharya discussed during his public lecture, titled ‘World Order in the Age of Trump.’ He began his talk by highlighting that the western dominated world order has already been on a decline, and Trump will not be able to reverse that decline. His actions so far have been unpredictable and what he can or will do is yet to be seen. Acharya stated a few main trends to underline this argument and projected a different geopolitical trajectory.

Firstly, Trump is the consequence of the current world crisis and not its cause. The U.S. has had a role to play in reversing the advancement of international liberal order in recent times. It is evident from the slowing down of the rate of increase in world trade in the past four years as well as the fragmentation that international institutions associated with the U.S. such as the World Trade Organisation, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund have been undergoing  in recent times. These three factors are considered the pillars of the U.S.’ idea of liberal order and President Trump is taking steps to further weaken these pillars in the name of harnessing the national strength of his country. Examples of this can be seen through his recent actions such as  disbanding the Trans â€" Pacific Partnership (TPP), having an inward-looking approach to economic globalisation, threatening liberal alliances like North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and bilateral relations with South Korea and Japan, thereby challenging the foundational elements of the liberal order.

Secondly, emerging powers like China and India can act as the defenders of the liberal world order. Elements within the scope of BRICS such as South Africa’s recession, China-India tensions over One Belt One Road Initiative (over the disputed territory of Kashmir in India), withdrawal of BRICS fund by Goldman Sachs in 2015, are trends which render emerging powers’ capacity to protect the liberal order weak. However, China has shown efforts to defend globalisation while countries like United Kingdom through Brexit and US through Trump’s protectionist agenda, have threatened it. Thereby, in the coming times, these emerging powers will act as protectors of the western initiated order.

Thirdly, globalisation in the current times will be different but not defunct. It will be headed by the East than by the West, focused on more South-South than the previous North-South links, and will draw more attention to development over trade. Acharya demonstrated this by using a few historical examples of the brief period of western trade dominance in the entire world history, showing the influence of the Arab world on world economy. He further stated the importance of China and India in respecting state sovereignty, cultural and political diversity and keeping their capitalist ambitions intact in this new age. All these factors will define the diversity in economic and political ideology laying the basis for globalisation. The global power shift ‘shows the rise of the rest than just the rise of the BRICS,’ as developing countries will account for 57% of the world’s GDP by 2030 (as per KPMG predictions).

President Trump will aggravate these trends through his non-recognition of the stakes of multiple alliances in the U.S.- led international order, which encompass nations, institutions and trade. This may lead to the destruction of the present order which has been key to America’s greatness so far. It is yet to be seen what President Trump promotes as his foreign policy, in terms of his one-to-one trade deals as opposed to the multilateral ones, among others. Recent survey (Pew Research 2016) claims that globalisation is taken in a positive light, with majority populations in China and India agreeing that it is vital for a healthy economy, their children’s welfare and their countries’ role in the future.

Acharya concluded his lecture by stating that the future world order will resemble a multiplex cinema involving a larger audience and multiple stakeholders. The world will be pluralistic with cultural and political diversity but fragmented international governance modules, rather than being directed by a global hegemon.

At least 10 soldiers killed in Marawi ‘friendly fire’News
(Updated, 11:45 a.m.) Military airstrikes aimed at Islamist militants who are battling soldiers in a southern city  killed 10 of their own men and injured seven others, the defense secretary said on Thursday.

“A group of our military armed men were hit by our own airstrikes. Ten killed,” Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana told reporters in Manila, adding the incident happened on Wednesday.

Security forces have been battling militants flying the black flags of the Islamic State (IS) group in Marawi, a major Muslim city in the predominantly Catholic Philippines, since Tuesday last week.

The military has bombed and fired rockets from attack helicopters throughout the conflict with the militants, who have been hiding in residential areas holding hostages.

About 2,000 civilians are also trapped in the militant-held areas, according to the local government.

Fire rages at several houses following airstrikes by Philippine Air Force bombers to retake control of Marawi city from Muslim militants who lay siege for nearly a week, Saturday, May 27, 2017 in southern Philippines. Philippine military jets fired rockets at militant positions Saturday as soldiers tried to wrest back control of a southern city from gunmen linked to the Islamic State group, witnesses said. Civilians waved flags from their windows to show they are not combatants. AP

Military chiefs have repeatedly said the assaults involved “precision” and “surgical” airstrikes, and assured they were not harming any of the trapped civilians or hostages.

“It’s sad but sometimes it happens in the fog of war. The coordination was not properly done,” Lorenzana said Thursday as he announced the deaths.

He told Agence France-Presse (AFP) later via text message that seven soldiers had also been wounded.

The clashes erupted when security forces raided a house to arrest Isnilon Hapilon, a veteran Filipino militant regarded as IS’s leader in the Philippines. He is on the US government’s list of most-wanted terrorists.

Authorities said they were taken by surprise when dozens of gunmen emerged to protect Hapilon and then went on a rampage through Marawi, which has a population of 200,000.

Most of the residents had fled the city but the International Committee of the Red Cross has repeatedly expressed deep concern for those who remained trapped, and called for a humanitarian ceasefire

“I think it’s horrific for the civilian people who are in there and we really hope that both sides can agree that the civilians should be given the opportunity to come out,” the deputy head of the ICRC’s Philippine delegation, Martin Thalmann, told AFP in Marawi on Wednesday.

President Rodrigo Duterte declared martial law across the entire southern region of Mindanao in response to the crisis, which he described as the start of a major campaign by IS to establish a foothold in the Philippines.

Eighty-nine militants have been killed in the fighting, and the gunmen have murdered 19 civilians, the military said on Wednesday.

The announcement of the friendly fire deaths brings the number of security forces killed to 31, and the combined death toll to 139./rga

Armed Forces of the Philippines chief of staff Gen. Eduardo Año said the fighting in Marawi broke out when troops attacked a hideout for Muslim extremist leader Isnilon Hapilon.

The Abu Sayyaf’s Hapilon has reportedly been chosen to lead an Islamic State group branch in Southeast Asia and is on the U.S. Department of Justice list of most-wanted terrorists worldwide, with a reward of up to $5 million for his capture. An Arabic-speaking Islamic preacher known for his expertise in commando assaults, he pledged allegiance to the IS group in 2014, according to security officials.

Año said Hapilon, who is still recovering from wounds sustained in a military airstrike in January, and more than a dozen of his men summoned reinforcements from their allies in the Maute militant group. Ano said nearly 50 gunmen in all managed to enter the city.

One group of about 20 gunmen took position in a hospital, where they raised a black Islamic State group-style flag at the gate, and 10 other militants went near a provincial jail where troops and policemen engaged them in fighting, he said.
Troops sealed off major entry and exit points to prevent Hapilon from escaping, Año told The Associated Press by telephone from Moscow, where he was accompanying President Rodrigo Duterte on an official visit to Russia.

“They did some burnings, they showed up in another area so it looked chaotic, but it’s actually a small group facing an overwhelming number of government forces,” Año said.
“We will conduct house-to-house clearing and do everything to remove the threat there. We can do that easily,” Año said, but added it was more difficult in an urban setting because of the need to avoid civilian casualties.

The Maute group is one of less than a dozen new armed Muslim groups that have pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group and formed a loose alliance in the southern Philippines in recent years. Hapilon was reportedly designated the leader of the alliance.
The Maute has been blamed for a bomb attack that killed 15 people in southern Davao city, Duterte’s hometown, last September and a number of attacks on government forces in Lanao, although it has faced setbacks from a series of military offensives.

Last month, troops backed by airstrikes killed dozens of Maute militants and captured their jungle camp near Lanao del Sur’s Piagapo town. Troops found homemade bombs, grenades, combat uniforms and passports of suspected Indonesian militants in the camp, the military said.
While pursuing peace talks with two large Muslim rebel groups in the south of the predominantly Roman Catholic nation, Duterte has ordered the military to destroy smaller extremist groups which have tried to align with the Islamic State group.

Duterte had repeatedly threatened to place the south, the scene of decades-long Muslim uprisings, under martial law if terrorism spiraled out of control. Human rights groups have expressed fears that martial law powers could further embolden Duterte, whom they have accused of allowing extrajudicial killings of thousands of drug suspects in a crackdown on illegal drugs. On Tuesday, on account of the fighting in Marawi, the President imposed martial law on all of Mindanao. â€" AP
