Classmate naku si Gregorio Quiaoit. They lived in a nice, Western-style house with a well-manicured lawn provided by Del Monte I think.

The place reminds me a little of Camp John Hay in Baguio. Mas hilom lang ug daghang green, open spaces lahi pa sa pinya nga galaray taman sa makit-an nimo.

Thanks Mf1234 for sharing your experience and I am sorry to hear about that.  Sabi nila talagang pasuertihan eka nga ang pag apply ng US visa.

Most couples or applicants I coached were asked by these questions?

- Purpose of travel?  (Avoid this traditionally coached answer:  It's our gift to ourselves for our wedding anniversary this coming bla bla bla...)  "Vacation or business travel" will do.
- Duration of travel?  (Never say 6 months.  3 to 4 weeks will do).  I knew of an applicant who said "6 months and was further asked "And what would your kids and wife do without you for 6 months?  He was not able to answer this correctly and was denied.
- May I know the person whom you will be staying with in the US?  (Know his/her status, his/her job and telephone number, etc.)
- What's the nature of your business?  (One successful couple I coached:  I'm a trader of industrial equipment and supplies serving multinational industrial companies like Nestle, etc).  Some were asked to show their income tax.

Ang pagiging ready, confident and relax would usually help in getting a US visa.  Nag smile ka ba sa officer? Hehe.    Iwasan yung appearance na parang kinakabahan at masyadong heavy ang facial expression.  Sa totoo lang,  yung time ko, pinapraktis ko etong linya halos araw araw.  Hahaha

"Hi,  good morning / afternoon"  and this  "We're fine and excited".

For 2 months also, we've been rehearsing answering possible questions.  One last part that we did is to put our role on the reverse.  Put yourself as the officer and see yourself from there and ask this question.   Why should I grant you a visa?   For every possible question, I prepared three probable answers and retained the best answer.  Sa lahat siguro nang nag apply ako/kami siguro ang pinaka maraming tanong mga mahigit dalawampu.  ;)   Karamihan, mataas na yung lima.  Eto yung mga natanong sa amin:

1.    Purpose of travel?
2.    What is your exact destination in the US?
3.    When is your travel?
4.    What is your job?
5.    How long have you been connected with XXXXX ?
6.    What is your monthly salary?
7.    How many people are you handling?
8.    What is SAP ?
9.    (Wife) And you madam, what do you do?
10.  What is your monthly salary?
11.  What's SAP again?
13.  What is your email address?
14.  Mr. Salada, why you haven't made a single trip outside the phils?
15.  Can I see your old passports?
16.  What's your relationship with the person you're staying with in the US?
17.  How long she'd been there?
18.  I still don't see any reason why you will travel to the US without going first to any asian countries.
19.  Your child is studying in XXXXXX ?
20.  One last question, who is the general manager of XXXXX XXXX?

Sige po, good luck sa susunod.

I have never tasted anything like it before, kani bitaw mga kapobrehon makatilaw ug class nga pagkaon di gyud makalimot. Before high school graduation in 1980, nag-camping pud mi sa backyard sa balay sa mga Quaoit diha sa Manolo Fortich. Murag Baguio ang weather ug stateside ang view. Awesome place.

Sensitive information for shooting down intercontinental missiles as well as bank details and NHS records was found on old computers, researchers say.

Of 300 hard disks bought randomly at computer fairs and an online auction site, 34% still held personal data.

Researchers from BT and the University of Glamorgan bought disks from the UK, America, Germany, France and Australia.

The information was enough to expose individuals and firms to fraud and identity theft, said the researchers.

Professor Andrew Blyth said: "It's not rocket science - we used standard tools to analyse the data".

The research involving the Welsh campus was led by BT's Security Research Centre and included researchers at Edith Cowan University in Australia and Longwood University in the US. - BBC

In a case of an annoying door-to-door salesperson, they are equiped with tons of rebutals. Whatever you say, they have every answer/rebutal that leads the conversation to buy thier products. I know this because I have been at selling encyclopedias after college days.

The good thing is that these people are always ready to accept the word NO and it will not hurt them.

So, incase you don't like the product, just say NO. But if you like, please call them. They will always leave you a number. They work for a living too.

Sa wa pa nakahibawo, this is for you.

Sa mga mahilig ug palit ug mga pirated goods and items, pagbantay kay basin ma complicate ang imong pagbiyahe.    Pirated DVDs, fake and imitation fashion wears, illegally downloaded music and eBooks, etc are just few of the hot items  IPR enforcers are working on it right now especially in port of entries like the US and singapore.

Translation:

"Leave" may not be the appropriate word here.  I would say "transcend", "rise above", "go beyond",  "grow beyond"  maybe appropriate.   Use that comfort zone as the foundation of doing more beyond complacency.

Abe ko ug del monte's  FitNRight.  This is really good and has a health benefit especially if ubanan ug regular exercise.

What most FnR drinkers have to say:

Everybody’s good health in the family is my primary concern as a mom. I always see to it that all of us are enjoying the proper nutrition we need not only during regular meal time but also during snacks time.

There are lots of juices and beverages in leading grocery stores out there but I only give my family Del Monte Fit ‘n Right as their drink during snack time. It has the right nutrition and the right taste everyone enjoys. My children love to drink it at school, too. With my experience with other beverages, they are very carbonated and they lack nutritional value because of their artificial ingredients and preservativesâ€" not good for everyone especially children; these carbonated drinks are also very acidic in my stomach. Del Monte Fit’n Right has very natural ingredients and no preservatives at all, the reason why it is a very healthy drink. I bring it all the time with me.

I am definitely recommending this product to friends because I believe that Del Monte Fit’n Right is the most refreshing way of keeping my family in good health all the time."

Sometimes it is helpful to delete the history of all websites you have visited once in a while.  For example, a shared PC at home where one family member is fond of visiting a site not suitable for minors (porn site).   Later, a child browse through the internet address bar and is looking for a cartoon network and online games.   Accidentally he clicked the site and there he saw images not suitable for his age.

Alright here we go.  For IE users,  do the following:

Click   Tools -> Internet Options -> Clear History

You may delete also cookies by clicking Delete Cookies.

A cookie is a delicious este is an information stored in your PC from the web server you are accessing so that the next time you browse i.e.  TubagBohol.com, it will be fast retrieving web pages from the site.

Be careful on allowing cookies to be stored in your PCs, sometimes it is not that friendly.  User informations maybe used in some ... other ... way ... and ... purpose.   :-X

Cheers!

People's champ Manny Pacquiao scored a technical knock out win over Ricky Hatton with only two rounds atthe MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.

Pacquiao tagged Hatton with a right hook midway in the first round, decking the Brit.

The Brit got up but was floored again with a left straight to the head.

Hatton survived to fight in second

Hatton rattled Pacquiao a bit in the second round but the Filipino cornered.

Paman won with a left to the face of Hatton flooring the Hitman in the final six seconds of round 2

Kenny Bayless stopped the fight to hand Pacquiao a TKO victory.

Dubbed as The Filipino Flash, Nonito “Junjun” Donaire Jr. visited his native Bohol with his wife Rachel Marcial (a Fil-Am taekwondo jin) and some friends from the US.

According to Funfare Bohol correspondent Leo Udtohan, Nonito and Rachel were married on Aug. 28, 2008 and he promised Rachel the trip to Bohol.

“Junjun took the group to Balicasag Island for diving,” reported Leo. “They also visited the Hinagdanan Cave, the Blood Compact Marker, Baclayon Church and Loboc River. Junjun posed wide-eyed with the tarsier. They had lunch at Riverwatch (operated by Tessie and Libby Sumalpong).”  During a stopover at the end of Loboc River for a cruise, Junjun danced with a local dance group which entertains the “cruisers.”

“He danced very well at mahusay ding kumanta,” added Leo. “The local folks which mobbed him were very delighted. In fairness, he knows how to grind and has a good voice. He attracted crowds everywhere he went, including the Chocolate Hills.”

In Talibon, he paid a courtesy call on Mayor Juanario Item who gave him a Plaque of Excellence. Junjun was born in Talibon, raised in General Santos City in the Philippines and moved to the US when he was 10 years old.

Leo said that Junjun also visited Alejandro Gurrea Elementary School where he studied before moving to US, and the abandoned, old house where he was born. Junjun was with his mom Elvira while they recalled his childhood memories.

“He was misty-eyed when he entered the old house,” noted Leo.

A tale of two boxers

As we brace for the bout of Manny Pacquiao with Ricky Hatton on Sunday, May 3, have boxing fans ever paused to ponder on whatever happened to past champions who have also made the country proud?

Sadly, in the euphoria that follows the victory of every Filipino boxer, such as the recent win of Nonito Donaire Jr. and Brian Viloria, we conveniently overlook the plight of other champions who were celebrated during their heyday and forgotten soon after, neglected by the government which should reward them for a job well done.

A case in point is Luisito Espinosa, former world champion in the bantamweight and featherweight divisions, whose story is told by San Francisco-based Filipino journalist Mike Genovea for Funfare readers.

Here it is:

The fists that once battered his opponents in the ring are now reduced to cleaning tables in a fastfood restaurant here in San Francisco.

The hands belong to Luisito Espinosa, 41, the former world champion in the bantamweight and featherweight divisions.

Espinosa retired after he was KO’d by Cristobal Cruz in their 2005 fight in Stockton, California.

To survive, Espinosa worked as a stocker at Costco (a membership wholesale store chain) for three years. Now a busboy at McDonald’s at the corner of Serramonte and Gellert Avenues, he’s applying for work at Lucky Chances, a casino owned by a Filipino, at nearby Colma area.

“I have to work to be able to pay for my bills,” said Espinosa who held the WBA bantamweight title from 1989 to 1991 and the WBC featherweight crown from 1995 to 1998. He assured that he’s still in shape because, as part-time job, he trains boxers while working out at the 3rd Avenue Gym.

“I am good for two more years,” said Espinosa, once dubbed as The Original Golden Boy of boxing, who couldn’t hide his resentment toward what he called “greedy” managers (“Except Papa Sarreal”) who were interested more in fattening their pockets than in advancing his career.

That’s why, unlike Pacquiao, he never came close to achieving mega-bucks purses despite being at the top for eight years.

His father Dio and uncle Leo were also boxers.

Separated from his wife Marie Cherie (with whom he has three children), Espinosa is still recognized by Pinoys who go to McDonald’s. During our interview, six people said hi to him.

“Kung minsan nga binibiro ko sila. Kapag tinatanong nila kung ako si Espinosa na boxer, ang sagot ko hindi.”

Espinosa wrested the WBA bantamweight title in 1989 by knocking out Khaokor Galaxy in the first round. He defended his title twice before losing it to Israel Contreras by a fifth round KO in 1991.

He was in the limelight again in 1995 when he won the WBC featherweight crown by outpointing Manuel Medina. He defended his title seven times before bowing to Cesar Soto by unanimous decision in 1999.

Manny Pacquiao’s bombs will have little difficulty finding its target on May 2 in Las Vegas.

“Ricky Hatton’s defensive skills are too weak,” trainer Freddie Roach told Telegraph.co.uk. “He’s too easy to hit. And he’s had problems particularly with southpaws.”

Roach said Hatton’s weakness in defense is one of the reasons why he believes Pacquiao will take out the British “Hitman” within three rounds of their scheduled bout in Las Vegas.

Roach, who accurately foresaw David Diaz’s knockout in the ninth round when he tangled with the Filipino superstar at 130 pounds, also thinks that the Pacquiao-Hatton duel for the Briton’s lightly regarded International Boxing Organization junior welterweight crown will be action-packed from start to finish.

“I think it’s going to be the best three rounds you’ve ever seen,” Roach told TheSun.co.uk during the megabuck’s bout press conference in Hollywood on Monday. “It’s going to be short and sweet.” - Roy Luarca, PDI

Kanang Ps 100K a month sakto sakto na na if based in Manila.   He/she must be working on a project based as an application or  programming consultant especially on a company like HP.  The competency level of the candidate I guess is a highly skilled programmer especially if he/she is based in Manila.    I have a former colleague who had a short stint at HP as an  SAP abap programmer/consultant.   From accenture to HP and now she is connected with confectionery company PVM (Perfetti Van Melle - tighimo sa menthos ug uban pa) also in manila and is earning more than that.

Medyo guapo na ang bohol karon labina jud ang dalan, concrete and straight.  Moadto ka ug Jagna sauna mga 2 hours siguro from Tagbilaran pero karon diretso diretso na kay halos flat ug straight ang dalan.

This coming sunday morning (5/03/09) is a big day for our country as our very own Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao (the best boxer in the world and the current # 1 pound for pound in the rating) is fighting against England's Ricky "The Hitman" Hatton in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Usually the brit fans are very noisy and loud just like that of a football game.

Sounds fair and good rendition of the Philippines National Anthem by Martin.  This is the first time a male singer will sing the lupang hinirang.

...
You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
...
Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.  With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams; it is still a beautiful world.

Be cheerful.
