We're unbeatable when it comes to the way we speak English that is the very reason why the United States alone has 1.5 million call-center "seats" to outsource directly to various call center hubs in our country.

DAVAO CITY â€" The brother of convicted priest killer Norberto Manero, known as Commander Bucay, has been abducted by New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in Sitio Lorenzo, Barangay Pangyan, Calinan District, here on Sunday.

Former Sgt. Jose Manero was taken by an undetermined number of rebels following their raid on a farm owned by Raffy Lorenzo at around 10:30 a.m. Lorenzo was also seized but released about an hour later, not far from his farm.

Lorenzo’s family owns the Lorenzo Group of Companies where Jose Manero works as security consultant.

Maj. Rodrigo Susmena, spokesperson of the Eastern Mindanao Command, confirmed the abduction. The rebels, he said, were led by Leoncio Pitao, or Commander Parago, head of the Pulang Bagani Command of the NPA’s Southern Mindanao Regional Command.

Susmena said the rebels also took six firearms from the farm.

A source close to the Maneros said the other brothers would retrieve Jose Manero, “dead or alive.”

The source said the abduction could have been sparked by reports about the revival of Alsa Masa, an armed anticommunist group, to be led by the Manero brothers.
In 1999, Jose Manero was considered for a presidential pardon but this was revoked. In January, he was finally freed.

The source, however, said the revival of the Alsa Masa had not been pushed by the military. “The rescue of Manero is the primary concern now,” he said. The NPA has yet to issue a statement on the abduction.

CHONGQING, China - One of the worst earthquakes in decades struck central China on Monday, killing nearly 9,000 people, trapping about 900 students under the rubble of their school and causing a toxic chemical leak, state media reported.

The 7.8-magnitude earthquake devastated a hilly region of small cities and towns in Sichuan and nearby provinces. The official Xinhua News Agency said 8,533 people died in Sichuan alone and dozens of other deaths were reported in surrounding areas.

Xinhua said 80 percent of the buildings had collapsed in Beichuan county in Sichuan province after the quake, raising fears the overall death toll could increase sharply.

State media said a chemical plant in Shifang city had cratered, burying hundreds of people and spilling more than 80 tons of toxic liquid ammonia from the site.

The earthquake sent thousands of people rushing out of buildings and into the streets hundreds of miles away in Beijing and Shanghai. The temblor was felt as far away as Vietnam and Thailand.

The quake posed a challenge to a government already grappling with discontent over high inflation and a widespread uprising among Tibetans in western China while trying to prepare for the Beijing Olympics this August.

It hit about 60 miles northwest of Chengdu in the middle of the afternoon when classrooms and office towers were full. There were several smaller aftershocks, the US Geological Survey said on its Web site.

The temblor struck hilly country leading up to the Tibetan highlands, toppling buildings in small cities and towns in the largely rural area. About 1,200 pandas â€" 80 percent of the surviving wild population in China â€" live in several mountainous areas of Sichuan.

The earthquake, China's deadliest since 1976, occurred in an area with numerous fault lines that have triggered destructive temblor before. A magnitude 7.5 earthquake in Diexi, Sichuan that hit on August 25, 1933 killed more than 9,300 people.

Xinhua said 50 bodies had been pulled from the debris of the school building in Juyuan town but did not say if the children were alive. Xinhua reported students also were buried under five other toppled schools in Deyang city.

Xinhua said its reporters saw buried teenagers struggling to break loose from underneath the rubble of the three-story building in Juyuan "while others were crying out for help."

Two girls were quoted by Xinhua as saying they escaped because they had "run faster than others."

Photos showed heavy cranes trying to remove rubble from the ruined school. Other photos posted on the Internet and found on the Chinese search engine Baidu showed arms and a torso sticking out of the rubble of the school as dozens of people worked to free them, using their hands to move concrete slabs.

Calls into the city did not go through as panicked residents quickly overloaded the telephone system. The quake affected telephone and power networks, and even state media appeared to have few details of the disaster.

"In Chengdu, mobile telecommunication convertors have experienced jams and thousands of servers were out of service," said Sha Yuejia, deputy chief executive officer of China Mobile.

Although it was difficult to telephone Chengdu, an Israeli student, Ronen Medzini, sent a text message to The Associated Press saying there were power and water outages there.

"Traffic jams, no running water, power outs, everyone sitting in the streets, patients evacuated from hospitals sitting outside and waiting," he said.

The road to Wenchuan from Chendu was cut off by landslides, state media said, slowing the rescue efforts.

The earthquake also rattled buildings in Beijing, some 930 miles to the north, less than three months before the Chinese capital was expected to be full of hundreds of thousands of foreign visitors for the Summer Olympics.

Li Jiulin, a top engineer on the 91,000-seat National Stadium â€" known as the Bird's Nest and the jewel of the Olympics â€" was conducting an inspection at the venue when the quake occurred. He told reporters the building was designed to withstand a 8.0 quake.

"The Olympic venues were not affected by the earthquake," said Sun Weide, a spokesman for the Beijing organizing committee. "We considered earthquakes when

Skyscrapers swayed in Shanghai and in the Taiwanese capital of Taipei, 100 miles off the southeastern Chinese coast. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.

The quake was felt as far away as the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi, where some people hurried out of swaying office buildings and into the streets downtown. A building in the Thai capital of Bangkok also was evacuated after the quake was felt there.

A magnitude 7.8 earthquake is considered a major event, capable of causing widespread damage and injuries in populated areas.

The last serious earthquake in China was in 2003, when a 6.8-magnitude quake killed 268 people in Bachu county in the west of Xinjiang.

China's deadliest earthquake in modern history struck the northeastern city of Tangshan on July 28, 1976, killing 240,000 people. - AP

Based on what Manny Pacquiao and David Diaz are saying on their respective recent newspaper writeups, it’s going to be a blast on June 28 in Las Vegas.

Pacquiao, the reigning World Boxing Council (WBC) super-featherweight king, writes a twice-a-week column in a local tabloid, while Diaz, the current WBC lightweight ruler, does something like it for the Chicago Sun Times as part of his buildup for the bigest fight of his life that takes place at Mandalay Bay.

"I know from watching DVD copies of his previous fights that he never gives up and never lets up even if he is behind or ahead in the scorecards," said Pacquiao, who will be attempting to win a fourth world title in a fourth weight class.

"Diaz is a left-hander like me and based on my assessment of his style, we will be able to come up with a great show for boxing fans since he is the type of fighter who is always in front of you and is the kind of guy who doesn’t take a backward step and is always on the go," added Pacquiao, who leaves for Los Angeles tonight via Philippines Airlines to start training camp at the Wild Card.

Before reuniting with Roach, the 29-year-old Pacquiao will grace the formal turnover ceremonies of Lt. Gen. Alexander Yano, who will take over as Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines at Camp Aguinaldo this morning.

Diaz, who went on a promotional tours of San Antonio, Texas, and Phoenix, Arizona, last week, said he was nearly overwhelmed by the tremendous response of the media to the fight.

"In the afternoon (in Phoenix), we had a press roundtable at a downtown Mexican restaurant," wrote the 31-year-old Diaz. "The media had a lot of questions about how I intend to beat Pacquiao, my training and about me being the underdog. The underdog role is nothing new to me â€" it’s been that way in many of my fights."

Despite his hectic schedule during the whirlwind press tour, Diaz managed to squeeze in some time training as in one time after a luncheon when he worked out after returning to his hotel room at around 4 p.m.

And when Diaz arrived home in Chicago shortly after lunch last Thursday, he did not waste time and proceeded to the JABB Gym to sweat it out so his preparation doesn’t miss even a single beat.

"I got back home at 2 p.m. and went straight to the gym to workout. Thursday night was a few more phone interviews and some quiet time with the family."

"Today (Friday), it’s back on schedule at the gym and then tonight I’m going to a boxing show at Cicero Stadium. I love going to the local shows here, it’s where I made my bones before winning the title and it’s always terrific to see my friends fight," said Diaz, a former Golden Gloves champion and member of the US squad to the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

Pacquiao and Diaz, meanwhile, are going to see each other face-to-face at Tuesday noon (Wednesday morning in Manila) at the Catalina Ballrom of the Bonaventure

DUBAIâ€"Bisdak Forces, made up of Cebuano speaking OFWs in the United Arab Emirates, recently ruled the Operation: Desert Thunder 2008, which served as the inaugural tournament of the newly-organized Emirates Airsoft Federation.

Led by team leader Ramon “3rd" Angeles III and assistant team leader Jeffrey “cat6" Nabua, Bisdak Forces reaffirmed its reputation as the most formidable airsoft unit in the UAE after outclassing four other teams in the mission-based competition held at the Pursuit Paintball Games, Dubai Creek Park.

Bisdak Forces garnered a total of 300 points. The team also earned more points after it had only five players eliminated.

Other members of the champion team were Benjamin Juen, Richard Gadiongco, Fred Aguirre, Mark Maybuena, Andy Guadalupe, Sandie Ignacio, Ed Ryan Cantre and Joseph Bihag. The team’s adviser was Franzty Magsakay.

Securing the second spot in the multinational tournament was Delta Daggers, which earned 260 points. Delta Daggers was the only team to accomplish its mission, but had eight players eliminated.

Delta Vipers and Commandos each had 100 points as all players of both teams were eliminated. Delta Vipers, however, secured the third spot with a superior tiebreak score. Desert Assassins had 96 points after likewise losing all its players to the opposing forces, while incurring additional deductions for exceeding the allocated time.

Bisdak Forces received P23,100 and an M249 Saw airsoft replica, while the second, third and fourth runners-up received P11,500 each. Delta Daggers also received an SPR airsoft replica, while Delta Vipers got a Draâ€"gunov airsoft replica.

The competition’s mission was to infiltrate an enemy camp, where they need to set up and arm a demolition device on top of the enemy camp’s weapons cache before proceeding to the extraction point. Each team was initially given 300 points, with 100-point deduction for mission/objective failure, 10-point deduction for each eliminated player and five-point deduction for every minute exceeded after the 15-minute standard gameplay.

Teams were also awarded 50 bonus points for demolition of weapons cache.

The Emirates Airsoft Federation was established as the government-accredited umbrella organization for airsoft groups of all nationalities in the UAE. - Sun.Star Cebu

Ting Yeng Keow, 58, a housewife, is said to have pinched Sriyani on her left upper arm at her Robey Crescent home in the city-state’s Upper Serangoon in October.

08 May 2008

Sana ay nasa mabuti kayong kalagayan saan man kayo naroroon saan man sa mundo.

Yes, I skipped and jumped two weight divisions and with the help of God, I also became champion of the world when I beat the avoided one, the fearsome Lehlo Ledwaba of South Africa, then the International Boxing Federation super-bantamweight champion.

Now, I am pushing myself to another level because I want to achieve greater heights. I know there is nothing impossible when you believe in God and you give your best in training for a fight. I know I can step it up and challenge the bigger guy Diaz and I am very much excited to get back in the gym in Los Angeles with my trainer Freddie Roach in the second week of May.

Many say it will be something close to impossible because nobody has ever done it before, even the great Flash Elorde failed to win as a lightweight. Ang masasabi ko naman, there will always be a first time. Sana, sama-sama ulit tayong manalangin bilang iisang bansa at iisang lahi.

Hanggang sa muling Kumbinasyon. With God's help, we will all emerge victorious, soon. God bless everybody.

TOKYO -- A strong earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale hit north of Tokyo early Thursday following an earlier series of tremors, Japan's meteorological agency said.

The earthquake hit at 1:45 a.m. (1645 GMT) north of Tokyo, swaying buildings in the heart of the capital.

The impact was strongest in Ibaraki and Tochigi prefectures north of Tokyo where the earthquake measured lower-five on the seven-point Japanese scale -- enough to crack holes in weak buildings.

Public broadcaster NHK showed footage of a local office where computer monitors were shaking and elevators stopped. But it said that there were no immediate reports of damage.

No tsunami warning was issued.

The earthquake followed a series of tremors off the Pacific coast, including one measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale.

Japan experiences 20 percent of the world's major earthquakes and has developed an infrastructure meant to withstand violent tremors.

A 6.8-magnitude earthquake rocked central Japan in July last year, killing 11 people and shutting down the world's largest nuclear power plant.

SINGAPORE -- A Singaporean engineer was sentenced to three weeks' jail on Monday for using a rolling pin to assault his Filipino maid.

Xing Likun, 36, had admitted hitting s Irene Israel Miguel on the calf and back with the rolling pin and kicking her on her knee last July 18.

The 36-year-old maid started working at Xing's Yishun flat March last year.

On July 17, she was in the kitchen when his elder child asked for health drink Vitagen.

When Xing's wife saw her daughter drinking Vitagen, she got angry and scolded the maid.

She told the maid to take the child to the playground.

Xing came and looked for her and told her to return to the flat.

He then told the victim to go to the kitchen where he scolded her for making him angry. Telling her to face the wall, he took a wooden rolling pin and hit her on the back and her right calf. He hit her back again, causing her to fall to the ground. He then kicked her on her knee.

Xing was given until July 7 to start his sentence as he is in the midst of a project.

He could have been jailed for up to 18 months and fined up to $1,500 for causing hurt. Elena Chong, The Straits Times-ANN

This thread started me thinking of posting because my husband and I are in a band that started 2 weeks ago and so far we only had 2 practices and we will be performing at Hard Rock Cafe - Downtown, Sacramento on May 4th. Aguy kaduol na. :-[  I am a karaoke junky and this will be my first time singing with a band and I am the lead vocalist singing rock songs - I mean REALLY ROCK! (Ambisyosa) ;D I am not nervous right now but I'm sure I will be when performing with a huge crowd. My armpit and palms will be sweating for sure.  ;D

So any advice please? ;D

Nice to hear that we do have some good rockers in the house, just give your best Ytess it's nicer if you could view the tapes of AXL Rose of Guns and Roses you might get some good tricks from them.
Keep us posted after the event. Keep rockin and good luck.
