DUBAI—Bisdak Forces, made up of Cebuano speaking OFWs in the United Arab Emirates, recently ruled the Operation: Desert Thunder 2008, which served as the inaugural tournament of the newly-organized Emirates Airsoft Federation.

Led by team leader Ramon “3rd" Angeles III and assistant team leader Jeffrey “cat6" Nabua, Bisdak Forces reaffirmed its reputation as the most formidable airsoft unit in the UAE after outclassing four other teams in the mission-based competition held at the Pursuit Paintball Games, Dubai Creek Park.

Bisdak Forces garnered a total of 300 points. The team also earned more points after it had only five players eliminated.

Other members of the champion team were Benjamin Juen, Richard Gadiongco, Fred Aguirre, Mark Maybuena, Andy Guadalupe, Sandie Ignacio, Ed Ryan Cantre and Joseph Bihag. The team’s adviser was Franzty Magsakay.

Securing the second spot in the multinational tournament was Delta Daggers, which earned 260 points. Delta Daggers was the only team to accomplish its mission, but had eight players eliminated.

Delta Vipers and Commandos each had 100 points as all players of both teams were eliminated. Delta Vipers, however, secured the third spot with a superior tiebreak score. Desert Assassins had 96 points after likewise losing all its players to the opposing forces, while incurring additional deductions for exceeding the allocated time.

Bisdak Forces received P23,100 and an M249 Saw airsoft replica, while the second, third and fourth runners-up received P11,500 each. Delta Daggers also received an SPR airsoft replica, while Delta Vipers got a Dra–gunov airsoft replica.

The competition’s mission was to infiltrate an enemy camp, where they need to set up and arm a demolition device on top of the enemy camp’s weapons cache before proceeding to the extraction point. Each team was initially given 300 points, with 100-point deduction for mission/objective failure, 10-point deduction for each eliminated player and five-point deduction for every minute exceeded after the 15-minute standard gameplay.

Teams were also awarded 50 bonus points for demolition of weapons cache.
