Prayer - Saint Bernadette of Lourdes ( April 16 )

O God, protector and lover of the humble, You bestowed on Your servant, Bernadette, the favor of the vision of Our Lady, the Immaculate Virgin Mary, and of speech with her. Grant that we may deserve to behold You in heaven. Amen.

Nothing is anything more to me; everything is nothing to me, but Jesus: neither things nor persons, neither ideas nor emotions, neither honor nor sufferings. Jesus is for me honor, delight, heart and soul. - Saint Bernadette

You must receive God well; give Him a loving welcome, for then He has to pay us rent. - Saint Bernadette

The more I am crucified, the more I rejoice. - Saint Bernadette Soubirous

When God has spoken in the form of a promise, these promises are open to all who believe; they are to be claimed by faith. There are promises in the form of assurances related to our salvation (John 1 : 12), forgiveness (1 John 1:9), and victory over temptation (1 Corinthians 10 : 13). These are promises for every believer to affirm and claim personally, and those promises that we can claim in Jesus' name are guaranteed and will be performed for us by God for His glory (John 14 : 13-14; 2 Corinthians 1 : 20).

GOD BLESS !

Today's Verse Illustrated

My Prayer...
Father God, I praise you for your redeeming grace. I rejoice in your conquest over Satan and over his power to wound and destroy through death. I thank you for your power over the grave. Thank you for raising Jesus from the dead and giving me the assurance of life forever with you. Please bless me, dear Father, with a life that reflects the power that you have now working in me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

By grace, The Father's Word and Spirit shine through, especially in the darkest of times.

Matthew 11:29
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

I found my inspiration in Matthew 11:29
Jesus is explaining why we should embrace His way of life. As our Lord and Master, He is not harsh, overbearing, and oppressive, but gentle in His government. His laws are also reasonable and easy to obey; neither He nor they enslave. He emphasizes the gentle aspect of meekness toward others. From this, we begin to see why meekness must be a virtue of those who will receive the Kingdom and govern. Because God governs in meekness, His children must also.

Pray out loud. When your heart is heavy, pour your heart out to God by praying out loud. You might couple this activity with a walk. How well I remember some of those walks when I was a very young believer. It seemed like I had more than my share of problemsâ€"feelings of inadequacy, struggles with sin, and fears of failing as a Christian. I would be encouraged with my quiet time in the morning, but by evening I was usually overwhelmed by my lack of faith in God.

Pope Saint Martin I
Feastday: April 13
Martin I lay too sick to fight on a couch in front of the altar when the soldiers burst into the Lateran basilica. He had come to the church when he heard the soldiers had landed. But the thought of kidnapping a sick pope from the house of God didn't stop the soldiers from grabbing him and hustling him down to their ship.

Elected pope in 649, Martin I had gotten in trouble for refusing to condone silence in the face of wrong. At that time there existed a popular heresy that held that Christ didn't have a human will, only a divine will. The emperor had issued an edict that didn't support Monothelism (as it was known) directly, but simply commanded that no one could discuss Jesus' will at all.

There is only one reason God becomes angry. Sin. It is truly that simple. Where sin is absent, God's anger is absent. Unfortunately, "this present evil age" (Gal 1:4) is a cauldron of it. Not only are there thousands of different kinds of sins ... there are billions of individuals committing them. And there are varying degrees of culpability for each sin committed. For example, under the Law, the sacrifices were for sins done in ignorance. There were no sacrifices for deliberate sin - just prescribed punishment. Fortunately, the One sacrifice that can actually expunge human sin (to Whom the entire sacrificial system pointed) includes the power to pay for deliberate sins. This one little difference in the sacrifices, is the difference between eternal life ... or death.

"His anger is but for a moment, (but) His favor is for a lifetime" (Ps 30:5).

Now remain in my love. 10If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love. 11I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. 12My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. 14You are my friends if you do what I command. 15I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. 16You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruitâ€"fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. 17This is my command: Love each other.

The Gifts of God
Think of God's gifts in broader terms, not simply the material goods or security you may enjoy.
These are gifts, too:

    * Your faith, hope, love, and joy
    * Your family love and relationships with others
    * Your intelligence, talents, and skills
    * Your imagination, compassion, and vision
    * Creation in all its splendor

St. John Baptist de la Salle
Feastday: April 7
Patron of Teachers

John Baptist de la Salle was born at Rheims, France on April 30th. He was the eldest of ten children in a noble family. He studied in Paris and was ordained in 1678. He was known for his work with the poor. He died at St. Yon, Rouen, on April 7th. He was canonized by Pope Leo XIII in 1900. John was very involved in education. He founded the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools (approved in 1725) and established teacher colleges (Rheims in 1687, Paris in 1699, and Saint-Denis in 1709). He was one of the first to emphasize classroom teaching over individual instruction. He also began teaching in the vernacular instead of in Latin. His schools were formed all over Italy. In 1705, he established a reform school for boys at Dijon. John was named patron of teachers by Pope Pius XII in 1950. His feast day is April 7th.

Forgiveness is one of the most important first steps to ending conflicts in our families, our communities and between nations.

Learning to let things go and forgive isn't always easy, but when we truly forgive, it helps foster better health, better relationships, a deeper sense of purpose and self worth and a feeling of connection to others.

Answer: In Numbers 20:8, the Lord told Moses, "Take the staff, and you and your brother Aaron gather the assembly together. Speak to that rock before their eyes and it will pour out its water. You will bring water out of the rock for the community so they and their livestock can drink." Numbers 20:9-11 records Moses' response: "So Moses took the staff from the LORD's presence, just as He commanded him. He and Aaron gathered the assembly together in front of the rock and Moses said to them, ‘Listen, you rebels, must we bring you water out of this rock?’ Then Moses raised his arm and struck the rock twice with his staff. Water gushed out, and the community and their livestock drank." Numbers 20:12 gives us the Lord's response, "But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them."

What did Moses do that warranted such a severe penalty from the Lord? First, Moses disobeyed a direct command from God. God had commanded Moses to speak to the rock. Instead, Moses struck the rock with his staff. Second, Moses took the credit for bringing forth the water. Notice how in verse 10 Moses said, "must we (referring to Moses and Aaron) bring you water out of this rock." Moses took credit for the miracle himself, instead of attributing it to God. Third, Moses did this in front of all the Israelites. Such a public example of direct disobedience could not go unpunished. Moses’ punishment was that he would not be allowed to enter the Promised Land (Numbers 20:12).

 Merciful Heart

There are two scriptural verses that we should keep in mind
as we involve ourselves in these devotional practices:

1. "This people honors me with their lips, but their hearts are
far from me" (Is 29:13);

2. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy"
                                                               (Mt 5:7).

Living the Message of Mercy

The devotional practices revealed through Saint Faustina
were given to us as "vessels of mercy" through which God's
love can be poured out upon the world, but they are not
sufficient unto themselves. It's not enough for us to hang The
Divine Mercy image in our homes, pray the Chaplet every
day at three o'clock, and receive Holy Communion on the
first Sunday after Easter. We also have to show mercy to our
neighbors. Putting mercy into action is not an option of the
Divine Mercy Devotion; it's a requirement!

Bible Study / Re: Jesus Christ The TRUE Vine
April 03, 2009, 06:10:33 AM
Jesus identifies himself as the TRUE VINE. The word translated as »true« here is the Greek word alêthinê. It does mean 'true', but not in exactly the same sense as our English word, which comes from a Germanic root which carries the notion of 'faithfulness'. In fact, the English word 'faithfulness', when translated into German, is often translated as 'Treue'. Historically, 'Treue' is the exact same word as 'true'. Reconstructed with morphemes found in English, alêthinê comes out as unlatent, that is, 'unhidden'. Sometimes, we mention a person's latent talent or abilities in reference to something seemingly hidden within one's personality, but not manifested in any great way. Thus, the force of the Greek word is 'true', but refers to that which is not hidden in the natural man, not latent within him, but displayed and openly revealed within and through Jesus. As the Scripture says, »Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him... even so the things of God knoweth no man... But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God« (1C 2:9-14). Jesus is the TRUE Vine. Whatever other vines there may be, he is the only one which is TRUE. Jesus was God manifest in the flesh. He revealed the heart of Yahweh. He revealed the nature and work of God unto humanity.

Jesus identifies his Father, Yahweh, as the HUSBANDMAN. The word translated as »husbandman« is the Greek noun geôrgos. geôrgos literally means 'farmer' or 'vinekeeper'. Yahweh cared for Jesus in the days of his earthly life and ministry as a loving father cares for his only son. Any farmer knows that great care is taken to prepare the soil, to plough it, fertilize it, to sow seed, to weed it, to water it. As the 'vinekeeper', Yahweh was caring for Jesus unto the end that the very best fruit be borne on this choicest vine. Jesus talks about this further down in the parable. However, if one break geôrgos down into its component morphemes, ge- meaning 'earth', and -ôrgos meaning 'worker', a great truth is revealed, for it reveals the Father as the earth-worker, the one who tills the earth and works with it for planting this True Vine in the earth. And Jesus was planted in the earth, literally, in his burial and 'sprouted' out of the earth in his resurrection from among the dead. In this day, the Spirit of God works in the earth to plant Jesus into the 'earth' of men and women, that seed that fell into the earth and died being planted in their hearts, that they might become sons of God, walk in newness of life, and attain unto the power of his resurrection. Note what Paul wrote concerning resurrection:

The True Meaning of Lent
What is Lent? Why is it so widely practiced by “Christians” of this world? Is it because the Bible commands it? Did Christ or any of His apostles observe Lent? What about the first century Church? What does the Bible teach about Lent?

Let’s examine Lent, its practices and customs, its historic and religious origins, and its true meaning from the Bible’s perspective, not from the “traditions of men” (Mark 7:7-9).

  Saints Joachim & Anne
Parents of the Virgin Mary and Protectors of our Order
July 26: Celebrated as a Memorial with proper texts.

An old tradition going back to the second century gives these names to the parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The veneration of St Anne dates from the sixth century in the East and spread throughout the West in the tenth century; that of St Joachim is more recent. Along with St Joseph they are protectors of our Order.

  Prayer
  Lord, God of our fathers,
you bestowed on St Joachim and St Anne
this singular grace that their daughter, Mary,
should become the Mother of your Son, Jesus Christ.

  Grant, at their intercession,
the salvation you promised to your people.

We ask this through Christ, our Lord.

Divine Mercy Novena

Jesus further asked that this Feast of the Divine Mercy be preceded by a Divine Mercy Novena which would begin on Good Friday. "On each day of the novena you will bring to My heart a different group of souls and you will immerse them in this ocean of My mercy.

... On each day you will beg My Father, on the strength of My passion, for the graces for these souls."

The different souls prayed for on each day of the Divine Mercy Novena are:
First day                      All mankind, especially sinners
Second day               The souls of priests and religious
Third day                        All devout and faithful souls
Fourth day                  Those who do not believe in Jesus and those who do not yet know Him.
Fifth day                       The souls of separated brethren
Sixth day                    The meek and humble souls and the souls of children
Seventh day               The souls who especially venerate and glorify Jesus' mercy
Eight day               The souls who are detained in purgatory
Ninth day               The souls who have become lukewarm.

God has given us great and precious promises, and the apostle Paul tells us that God's promises are 100% trustworthy and reliable (2 Corinthians 1 : 20).   There's no better way to start your day than with the Word of God.  In the past, many Christian homes used to have a promise box.  Each morning one would take out a card and read the promise for the day.

The 15 Promises by the Blessed Virgin Mary to all of those who fervently pray the Rosary.

1.  Whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the Rosary shall receive signal graces.

2.  I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all those who shall recite the Rosary.

3.  The Rosary shall be a powerful armor against Hell; it will destroy vice, decrease sin, and defeat heresies.

4.  It will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities and will lift them to the desire of eternal things.  Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means!

5.  The soul which recommends itself to me by the recitation of the Rosary shall not perish.

6.  Whoever shall recite the Rosary devoutly, applying himself to the consideration of its Sacred Mysteries, shall never be conquered by misfortune.  God will not chastise him in His justice; he shall not perish by an unprovided death; if he be just, he shall remain in the grace of God and become worthy of eternal life.

7.  Whoever shall have a true devotion for the Rosary shall not die without the Sacraments of the Church.

8.  Those who are faithful to recite the Rosary shall have during their life and at their death the light of God and the plentitude of His graces; at the moment of death they shall participate in the merits of the Saints in Paradise.

9.  I shall deliver from Purgatory those who have been devoted to the Rosary.

10.  The faithful children of the Rosary shall merit a high degree of glory in Heaven.

11.  YOU SHALL OBTAIN ALL YOU ASK OF ME BY THE RECITATION OF THE ROSARY.

12.  All those who propagate the Holy Rosary shall be aided by me in their necessities.

13.  I have obtained from my Divine Son that all the advocates of the Rosary shall have for intercessors the entire Celestial Court during their life and at the hour of death.

14.  All who recite the Rosary are my sons, and brothers of my only Son, Jesus Christ.

15.  Devotion to my Rosary is a great sign of predestination.

WHEN WE PRAY, GOD WORKS!!!

Perhaps during the Lenten season we should stop praying for others as if we were virtuous enough to do so. Perhaps we should take off our righteous robes just long enough during these 40 days to put ashes on our own heads, to come before God with a new humility that is willing to confess, "Lord, be merciful to me, a sinner." Maybe we should be willing to prostrate ourselves before God and plead, "Lord, in my hand no price I bring; simply to the cross I cling." That might put us in a position to hear God in ways that we have not heard Him in a long time. And it may be the beginning of a healing for which we have so longed.

O Lord, begin with me. Here. Now.

The Lords Prayer :
Matthew 6:10-14   This, then, is how you should pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,  your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.  For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Luke 11:2-4   He said to them, “When you pray, say: ‘Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come.
Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.
And lead us not into temptation.’ ”

Pointers for Prayer : Pray the Lords Prayer through, and then take one of the phrases. Spend a few moments reflecting on that phrase, for example, imagining what it means for God's Kingdom to come, or how we forgive those who sin against us. Then use these thoughts for further prayer, finally coming back to pray through the Lord's Prayer again.

God wants you to give what you have, not what you don’t have.

Be yourself.
You are unique.
No comparison is possible.
Each of us develops into a unique individual
who enters into unique transactions with the world as it exists for him.

Begin to talk to Jesus about the piece of scripture you have just read. What part of it strikes a chord in you? Perhaps the words of a friend - or some story you have heard recently- will slowly rise to the surface of your consciousness. If so, does the story throw light on what the scripture passage may be trying to say to you?

You know, Jesus, that is the way we would like to deal with our problems; we would like to take out of our life the ones we really don't like. We would like to rid our life of crosses we feel are too heavy to carry. But we can't, can we? If the cross is to be a sign of our love for you, then we must be willing to accept any cross that we are called upon to bear. Jesus, help me today to carry my crosses. Please comfort me because without your presence and your comfort, I don't think I'll be able to make it.

´´Candle-lit dinner  @  Home``
candlelit dinnerTreat your honey to a romantic dinner by candle-light. That doesn't mean you don't have to take your sweetheart to a posh restaurant and spend a lotta bucks. Rather, you can arrange your own candle-lit dinner at home. Cook up a splendid dinner together. Even a simple pasta would work; buy dessert from the bakery in the grocery store. Set the table; create a romantic atmosphere with candles, sweet snacks and wine. Have soft romantic music playing in the background, and dim the lights so that it's mostly the candles lighting the room. Then dress up and "attend" the dinner walking up to the table hand in hand with your love. You'll be amazed how much more fun it gives to have a candle-lit dinner at home. Once dinner is over, dance slowly to your song. Then snuggle as you watch a romantic flick together.

Whisper then ´´I LOVE YOU`` with all my heart .

want  to gain friends kinahanglan maging totoo ka sa sarili mo at sa kapwa mo. walang plastik na batasan .

Making true friends is not instantaneous. Our required action of gaining covenantal connections with one another takes lots of time. Sure... we must first obtain that vertical relationship with God, but the next requirement is to extend our horizontal relationship with one other.

1 John says that if we don't love each other, we don't even know God... That's quite a statement to ponder! Remember: the Lord only works within covenant - and He relates to us in expressions of covenant. Covenantal expressions must fill all areas of our life.

I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great acts of judgment â€" Exodus 6:6

God made a seven-fold promise to Moses and the people of Israel (Exodus 6:6-8)

1.  I will free you from the burdens which the Egyptians have laid upon you.
2.  I will release you from slavery to them.
3.  With strokes of power I will deliver you.
4.  I will adopt you as my own people.
5.  I will be your God.
6.  I will bring you to the land I swore that I would give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
7.  I will give this land to you for your inheritance.

This seven-fold promise forshadows the fulness of redemption which Jesus Christ fulfilled for the human race when he delivered us from slavery to sin and death through his victory on the cross.

The ten plagues demonstrated God's power and presence in a land that worshiped idols and oppressed the people of God. Pharoah was worshiped as a divine person in Egypt. His defiance and refusal to submit to God is a type or symbol of the Angel of Light (also called Lucifer and Satan) who was thrown out of heaven for his defiant refusal to serve God.

The plagues brought judgment on Pharoah and the Egyptians for enslaving Israel, and judgment on all the gods of Egypt. They demonstrate that the Lord is the only true God and greater than all other gods.

They also demonstrated for Israel, and for all believers, both the depravity of sin and our need for God's redemption.

9 Kay ikaw, Oh Jehova, mao ang akong dalangpanan! Ang Hataas Uyamut gihimo mo nga imong   puloy-anan;

Faith in God changes everything.

Faith in God brings us to the Lord Jesus Christ, who lives forever and who gives eternal life to all who trust in Him.  Faith in God makes us wise when the whole world is following a lie and empty delusions.  Faith in God gives us courage to die and to live for Jesus.  And it gives us laughter when others are afraid, light in the darkness to show the way, and freedom from the dread of death.  Faith in God changes everything.

A Servant’s Heart

Read Joshua 23:1 through 24:33

Miss Maggie smiled as she confessed: “I don’t know who I am without my apron. I feel undressed until I get my apron on.” It didn’t matter to Maggie that knee-length, bibbed aprons went out of style with the Number Eight wood-burning stove she had learned to cook on seventy-five years ago. Her lifelong ministry as a steward of pots and pans began as a child when she helped her ailing mother cook for a large family.

Although their areas of ministry were quite different the apron-lady’s commitment to serve the Lord by serving others mirrors that of Joshua, the servant-leader of the conquest of Canaan. Even though the Canaanites were never completely driven out, Joshua served the Lord faithfully and accomplished his commission with a great deal of success. Perhaps the greatest tribute paid to him is expressed in the humble phrase: He was “the servant of the Lord” (Joshua 24:29).

To serve othersâ€"whether in great or small waysâ€"reflects God’s love. Every job, no matter how ordinary, has its reward when it is done as unto the Lord. So, if you see something that needs doing, don’t wait to be askedâ€"just do it.

Thought for Today: The whole idea of Christian servanthood is about serving Christ by serving others.

On the day of 21 March

The commemoration of the sainted martyrs of Alexandria who were slain under the emperor Constantius and the prefect Philagrius when Arians and heathens rushed in upon the churches on the Friday of the Lord’s Passion.*

*That is, on Good Friday.

Spirit of God, you live among us in every person we meet.
Help me listen today to you alive in my family, my co-workers,
people I meet at the store or on the street.
Help me discover you, God with us.

On the day of 20 March

On Farne Island in Northumbria, the passing of Saint Cuthbert, bishop of Lindisfarne, who was renown for the same attentiveness in pastoral office by which he had previously in the monastery and the hermitage peaceably reconciled the austerities of the Celts and their manner of living with Roman customs .
